Wonderful tour in Mark Twain house. We got the Living History Tour (a little bit more expensive). The tour guy dressed as a Twain’s friend and gave detail history regarding Mark Twain and friends/family dynamics throughout the time. The house/furniture are in great condition. No photography inside the house. It’s a long tour involving going up and downstairs. They are very thoughtful and put out some chairs throughout the house for those who need it. I recommend it when you visit Hartford CT. It’s a good place to learn more about the famous author. General tour Senior Citizens (ages 65+) $26 Adults (ages 17-64) $28 Children (ages 6-16) $15 Children Under 6 Live History tour Senior Citizens (ages 65+) $29 Adults (ages 17-64) $31 Children (ages 1-16) – $23
One of the best historical tours I've ever been on (and I've been on a lot)! So much rich history and too many stories to tell in just a 1-hour tour. The property is well kept, and the house is restored to as much genuine detail as could be. Plenty of parking, folding chairs in each room for those who cannot stand for long periods of time, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Tour tickets are a bit pricey but definitely worth it! No photography allowed inside the house, so get ready to take mental snapshots....you won't want to forget!
The Mark Twain House & Museum has a sprawling campus with different exhibits and tours. Plus, if you're a local, they have plenty of ways to visit for free. We did the General House Tour. Beth was our tour guide, and she was fantastic! A five-star guide, and I would highly recommend you request her if you go. She was knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about Mark Twain's life, which brought everything to life on the tour. I particularly enjoyed how she covered the real story of who he was: the good, bad, and ugly. She was very kind and patient with our 3-year-old niece who was on the tour, and helped get her involved. The house is pretty cool (I wouldn't recommend for young kids though... or adults with severe ADD). I'm not a big fan of Mark Twain, on account of him being negative after his visit to the great state of Utah, but coming to this museum helped me realize he was kind of just a jerk to and about everyone. The gift store might be the real highlight. There are some great gems here (I featured some favorites). A vibe I got from some of the employees was they were super passionate about history and Mark Twain's life, but having visitors to the museum was a necessary evil. That was from some, but not all, which is a fun irony since Mark Twain probably felt and acted the same way. I chalked it up as creating an immersive experience. If you like Mark Twain, history, or architecture, definitely plan your visit.
Immaculatly restored historic home where Mark Twain and his family resided for 17 years. Parking, the museum, gift shop, cafe and grounds are all free to check out. There are only guided tours of the inside and there are no photos or videos allowed of the inside. We purchased tickets ahead on line. The regular tour lasts about 1 hour. The home is absolutely gorgeous and the history fascinating. You do not need to be a literary genius or even a fan of the author to appreciate the history of this home and the family.
Absolutely AMAZING. Alex. Our tour tour guide, was informative and humorous. If you're a Mark Twain fan, it's truly a necessary stop, because it's the only home that Twain truly thought of as his. He said about the house, "To us, our house was not unsentient matter—it had a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals and solicitudes and deep sympathies; it was of us, and we were in its confidence, and lived in its grace and in the peace of its benediction." It was so cool to see where he worked, played with his kids, spent time entertaining, and lived for so many years. Note for those who have mobility issues: there are a lot of steps to climb. If you're unable to climb stairs they will only be able to accommodate you on the first floor and then you'll have to exit the tour.
An intriguing view into the home and life of the fabled author. The guide was knowledgable but not the best presenter. No photos are allowed inside ("For copyright reasons"???). Go early because most of the lighting comes through the windows. There is good parking.
When I was young I used to read a lot of books and some of those were by Mark Twain. It is a wonderful place where you can see it originally from creation and see the atmosphere where author was built it. Nice architecture and magic in the air.
We did a guided tour with an actor and it was an amazing experience. I grew up reading his books, so learning about his life and exploring the house had a special value for me. If you're thinking about taking a trip, definitely do it!

The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, located in the heart of Hartford, Connecticut, is a remarkable destination for art enthusiasts and history lovers alike. As the oldest continuously operating public art museum in the United States, it boasts an impressive legacy that is beautifully reflected in its distinctive, castle-like architecture—a striking landmark that sets it apart from other institutions. One of the museum’s most captivating features is its magnificent Great Hall, a space of exceptional beauty and grandeur that leaves a lasting impression. During my visit on a peaceful weekday afternoon, the quiet atmosphere allowed for an intimate and thoughtful exploration of the museum’s diverse collections, ranging from European masterpieces to contemporary works. Whether you are a dedicated art connoisseur or simply seeking a culturally enriching experience, the Wadsworth Atheneum offers an unforgettable journey through centuries of artistic achievement. It’s a true gem on the East Coast and undoubtedly worth a visit.
[tourist post] I loved this museum. Spent about 3 hours. I saw so much art including a Van Gogh! I loved that they had sketch pads out near displays. After checking out the museum, went down to the cafe. The lady there was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Def recommend the blueberry lemon cookie she makes!!!
The Wadsworth Atheneum is absolutely amazing! The collection just goes on for days, every room leads to something new and unexpected. From the moment I walked in, I felt completely immersed in art and history. The variety and depth here are incredible, and it’s clear how much care has gone into curating such a remarkable experience. Truly a must visit if you love art or just want to be inspired. I can’t wait to come back!
What an incredible experience. The staff we had the opportunity to talk with were all exceedingly helpful and a genuine joy. The spaces were exceptionally curated, in-depth, and well thought out. My son especially loved the calm space and I was blown away by the Yoruba World exhibit and the main gallery space. I can't recommend this museum enough.
A beautifully curated museum and one of Hartford’s true gems. The mix of classic and contemporary art is incredible, and the architecture alone is worth the visit. Friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere, and a great café and gift shop. Perfect for an inspiring afternoon.
I absolutely loved the museum! The variety of concepts keeps you interested from start to finish. Highly recommended — a must-see spot.
This was a one of a kind experience visiting the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum today. I was totally unaware of the history of this being one of the oldest Art Museums in the US and the extent of the Art collections they have.
Has a diverse and high-quality art collection that may appeal to a range of visitors. Our favorites? The Morgan 1 Great Hall, a gallery with walls packed with art 2 1/2 stories up to the skylight. An informative "highlights" tour by a docent (free - just push the right button when ordering tickets). And a room for kids to relax and create, after viewing "grown-up art". Allow 2 hours minimumCafe. Or 4 if you read signs and/or have a snack or soup in the BMUSE cafe.

Our experience overall was very positive. There were many diverse science activities that would interest children, teens, and adults. The exhibits ranged across disciplines of physics, chemistry, geology, and engineering. The staff were all very friendly and parking was convenient but did cost.
We planned a New England vacation for the family where we were going to visit all of the states. The only science center we have ever been to was our one back home in Pittsburgh. We wanted to experience what another state and cities science center was like so we put this on the agenda to surprise the kids. It just so happens the day we planned on spending the day at the science center was the same day of the Hartford marathon. We eventually found our way to the science center, but it was a challenge. The science center itself was amazing! The kids really loved all of the exhibits And the building was stunning! We ended up spending the whole day here. We even ate in the cafeteria, which we enjoyed. It’s sufficed anyhow. We’re glad that we put this on the agenda and would recommend visiting if you’re in the area and have kids.
CT Science Center is located in Hartford and is a hands on science museum. There are many exhibits in all the science fields that you can explore; it's also for all ages too. My favorite was the butterfly encounter; there is a room just for butterflies and they do land on you. There is a parking garage available. There are 4 levels open to the public. My family and I enjoyed the exhibits. There were plenty to keep us all busy. My children enjoyed the play kitchen, dinosaurs, and butterflies. Blue Chip Creamery is also located there. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back soon.
Very fun and educational but is primarily aimed for toddlers or 2nd grades and below. Lots of hands on activity that kids could do and check out to learn stuff. Butterfly exhibit was nice as well though personally not an insects person. Didn't give a 5 star cause I went for myself and there wasn't much activities for teens or adults. Had a nice relaxing view at the very top in the garden.
Well, it's a decent place to visit and keep the little one entertained. All of the exhibits keep us pretty busy. I do have a couple of issues with this place though. One, enough with the "they/them" nonsense. Not all of us subscribe to that way of thinking. Two, the place is severely understaffed and should designate certain days to schools and camps only, or make toddler Tuesday an every week thing. Today there were hoards of kids from several camps visiting; which is all good, but they were incredibly unruly and chaotic. They shouldn't have been brought to the science center, they should've been taken to Lake Compounce. They were throwing things, running, playing tag, and hide and seek. I saw only one staff member, by the wind machine, constantly reminding them not to run. Their chaperones were pretty much useless. Rather than enjoying our time exploring the exhibits, I spent most of the day either shielding my little one from rogue runners or trying to avoid the camp groups altogether. And these were much bigger kids. I don't think I'll be visiting any time soon. Management really needs to get a better grip on things, or at the very least, make toddler Tuesday a frequent thing. Oh, here's a picture of what I'm talking about.
Good place for kids, for sure they will enjoy and easily they can spend five hours
This place is great. My 8 year old grandson loves it. Three full floors of amazing exhibits and an area with a really cool water playground (your kid will get wet - maybe bring a change of clothes). Highly recommended.
Been here several times with my kids. It’s a fun place for kids of all ages, but especially for school age kids who are curious about learning new things. The building has a cool design and some spectacular views of the river. Each level has a different theme and the staff are always so courteous and helpful. The lady working at the monster drawing tables in the DNA/genetics side of the exhibit was so patient with each kid in explaining the same thing over and over. The staff at the ticketing area were also very helpful in explaining discounts that I never knew I qualified for. Kids and adults can easily spend hours here!

I have to be honest. The reason I stopped here is because it is right next door to the Mark Twain Museum and House, which was my main purpose in being here. But, after checking out the Twain Museum, decided to take a tour of the Stowe residence. Again, full disclosure...I haven't read "Uncle Tom's Cabin" or any other writings of Harriet. I knew who she was and what the book was about and it's implications on American history. However, after the guided tour, which is geared to answering the questions of those attending, I have a deeper and more profound respect for Harriet Beecher Stowe. I even purchased a copy of "Uncle Tom's Cabin". I especially liked how the guide connected Stowe's work to what is happening in our society today in the area of racial inequality. I highly recommend this tour for all but especially for families with children and teenagers. The guides really make history come to life and applicable to your own life!
I stopped by the Stowe Center after a tour next door at the Mark Twain house. I didn’t fully know what I was signing up for but decided to join the hour long tour. I appreciate how fascinating and thought provoking the guides made this tour. They did a great job of highlighting the complexities of American history and the work of Harriet Beecher Stowe. The conversation had amongst the tour group were great, and I was very glad I stopped in. I highly recommend a stop for anyone in the area!
I'm a local educator who reserved space with the Stowe Center for a public program months in advance. When we followed up a week prior to the program to confirm logistics, I was told they had cancelled the reservation without notifying us. We were given zero explanation. Even if this was an honest mistake, their staff demonstrated no care or consideration after the fact. We were told we could meet outside on the lawn if we wanted. I would proceed with caution if you are a community organization looking to partner with them on a workshop or event.
Very much enjoyed the tour of the home and the education received. A bit expensive but the upkeep likely requires that cost. This woman did so much more than just write amazing and times challenging books. Check out the Katherine Day home next door too. Not open to the public but beautiful from the outside.
The guides were amazing! They were passionate, knowledgeable, and engaging. Chairs were offered as needed in the different rooms for my parents, which was much appreciated. I would do it again if ever in town.
Excellent historical landmark. The guides are very helpful. You will get a deep look into America's dark past of slavery. The ticket counter offers a discount of $3 if you show them your ticket from the more famous Mark Twain museum. This place also has a restroom, so it's helpful for travellers. There are also a number of food joints nearby, a little up the street like Domino's Pizza and some others.
Loved this experience. The staff, Anita, tina, and Versatile were knowledgeable, kind, engaging, and fantastic. The encouraged socratic style conversation, and guided in a way that made me feel welcome, respectful, and valued. How lovely to have this be the last thing we did on a 2 week road trip of New England. Would recommend to anyone.
Great private tour with Breena and tour guide trainee!! My son Elijah and I had a nice history lesson. Tour was about 45 min. Breena was very knowledgeable about Harriet.

This is a great theater! The seats are comfortable and all offer a great view. Parking is convenient. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a great time and will definitely return for more performances.
Great theater with a lot of history and does the best Shakespeare around. Saw a really good production of August Wilson’s Two Trains Running. Good selection at the bar as well!
WOW!!! This theater company is second to none!! Our daughter has participated for the past few years in their youth programs, both in the summer and during the school year on weekends. Even if your child is not destin for Broadway. This wonderful place has a way of bringing confidence out of young people like no other place that I have seen. The performances that they put together are absolutely amazing!!! I encourage everyone getting out for an afternoon or evening on the town, to add a show at this place to your bucket list!!
This was our favorite thing to do when we visited Hartford. Our family saw A Christmas Carol. It was well-done and entertaining. My kids were engaged the whole time and were amazed by the special effects and the costumes. We sat in the cheaper seats and I can truly say that I think every seat is good.
Had a great evening with my daughter to see Rope.
Excellent quality productions. Good value for the cost of a seat. Comfortable theater. Convenient parking.
Everything was so beautiful, even the bathrooms. I appreciated that they catered to both adults and children by having sweets and alcoholic beverages. I went to see a Christmas Carol and it was by far one of the best plays I've ever seen, to the point where I nearly cried. You won't regret coming~
Unforgettable experience! Very talented actors and amazing decorations and awesome play. The prices are okay (60-90$ for adults)but it is totally worth the spent money. There are a lot of kids who take part of play. And they do it so good so I have no idea how adults train those kids but it is so interesting to watch their play. The costumes are adorable. I am amazed by this wonderful Christmas Carol play and wish to come to Hartford again with my kids in future. Thank you!

Came here to see the Final Fantasy symphony!!! I've been so excited to see them again and this time they performed at the Bushnell, which is a beautiful theater in a clean and well maintained location. The theater itself is quite large and at the time provided many different amenities, including valet (which we used. It was very straightforward and easy to locate), merchandise, multiple food and drink options, as well as a professional staff who were all friendly and helpful. They offered assistance for directions as well as gave information on future performances that we might be interested in. The bartender was very quick which I appreciated considering the long line she was tending to. The staff inside the theater who helped guide everyone to their seats greeted us with a smile, and helped maintain an orderly seating process. It was a very positive experience for me and I think most other attendees. Also, it was nice to see some people dressed up both in cosplay, and in more formal outfits. And I appreciate the uniform that the staff were wearing. I think it made for a more authentic, symphony experience. I'm looking forward to coming back and hope to see the other theater next time.
We had a great time watching the opening of Hamilton 2025. The staff that met us at the entrance to the Bushnell to the staff taking us to our seats made the event even more enjoyable with their professionalism and friendliness. One staff member allowed me to take pictures before the show started as it was not allowed during the show. An IPA beer and bag of peanut M&M cost me $14 so be prepared for airport pricing! The seats were very comfortable and the view was excellent (see pics). Plenty of on-site parking (garage and lots) in the area. The show itself was outstanding with one exception, at times it was hard for the audience to understand the 140 words per minute singing from the cast. I felt there needed to be more speakers in the middle of the building to address this problem, but what do I know. Five Stars despite the sound issues.
I got to see Josh Johnson perform live with intro by Mandel and set by Logan Nielsen. I 2022 I got hooked on the JJ Sow podcast with Logan, and followed Josh Johnson's prolific brilliant comedy ever since. I was wowed, delighted and laughing through the entire show! Bravo! ❤️ 🎯 👍
Absolutely an amazing place to go see a play. Well kept and very clean. However, the seats are rather small. So, if youre a taller person (I'm 6'4"), the seating is cramped. I had to sit almost sideways because my knees were not fitting. Lol.
A Fantastic Venue for an Intimate, Enjoyable Performance Experience The Bushnell Performing Arts Center in Hartford, CT is a wonderful venue that truly delivers an intimate performance experience. We recently went to see Ninja Kidz, and it was clear that there isn’t a bad seat in the house—every angle offered a great view of the stage, making the show even more enjoyable. The concession stands were well-organized and convenient, and the cashless option made the entire process fast and effortless. It was easy to grab what we wanted without missing any part of the performance. Overall, The Bushnell is a beautifully maintained, welcoming space that enhances whatever show you’re seeing. We had a fantastic time and will absolutely be coming back for future performances. Highly recommend!
I saw Hamilton for the first time today and it was fantastic! I sat in the Mezzanine section and I was quite pleased with my view. The cast and crew put on an awesome performance! The ushers throughout the building were also so wonderful and kind. The charity pitch at the end of the show was also so heartfelt and I wish you all the best of luck in your fundraising! I would definitely like to come back again to see another show!
Beautiful building. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Parking is easy and free in a well lit area close to the building. The show was very well done. Seating in the last row of the theatre begs for opera glasses and leaves the view blocked by tall people and those wearing hats. Long lines for the bathrooms at intermission. Very tight seating, which may be typical of a classic style theater.
We took Gramma to see Hamilton here. It was amazing. Everything ran smoothly. The cast did an amazing job. Our seats were in the center balcony and we could see perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely go to future shows here.

This is a beautiful piece of living art and history in the middle of Hartford. My family found it on accident and were so happy and excited with the experience. The staff were very friendly and there were both snack and seasonal drinks available for purchase. The ride was great, safe and extremely well maintained.
Didn't get to see it but from the outside of the building, but looked amazing. Would have really enjoyed to see it in operation. This whole area and park here in Hardford Connecticut is amazing.
A true jewel of Hartford, CT. Located in the downtown area close to the capital, easy on & off of interstate, a must see for the family visit! $2. Fee to ride this incredible masterpiece of history over 100 years old still using the Wurlitzer music piece to pipe out the iconic tunes to whirl around in. Enjoy the large playground located outside, restrooms in building which offers a snack bar. This was a great addition to our trip to Hartford.
We love old carousels, and the Bushnell Park Carousel does not disappoint. It was built in 1914 by Stein and Goldstein with 36 jumping horses, 12 standers, and two chariots, with music provided by a 1921 Worlitzer band organ. It is on the State House grounds with huge grass covered lawns, a pond, statues, fountains and a Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch.
I am a service dog handler of 7yrs and had the WORST public access issue of my life here. Outside, there is a sign that says service dog's are welcome. We waited a moment inside to purchase our tickets. As soon as the lady came back to the counter, she was DEMANDING to see my dogs harness and "paperwork". (Both of which are not required for access per the ADA Law) I told her that there wasn't any registration or paperwork I was required to produce. She then had an issue that my dogs gear was green and not red like the dog on the sign. (Which was incorrect anyways, lol) She gave us the wrong business card to call for our issue. we could not get the manager on the phone. She refused to understand that she was a task trained seizure assistance K9. Or the ADA Law that states that she's not allowed to ask for paperwork or certification. (Because that's not how to LEGALLY determine I'd a dog is a service animal.) (Businesses are allowed to ask 2 questions: 1. Is that a service dog required because of a disability. & 2. What tasks are they trained to perform) She threatened to call the police. Which I then asked her to please do. I ended up calling them myself. We spoke on the phone with an officer who helped mediate the situation. She was then concerned for "the safety of the dog" and her training to be on the ADA accessible ride. Siting that as a reason to denie access. (Even though presumably dogs with "papers" are allowed??) We came to a compromise where I would sit in the boot with my dog on the ride & rhe attendant would be watching to make sure we didn't get on a horse while on the ride. (Note: Parents are allowed to stand and assist their children on the ride. My dog would have layed down next to the horse. Admission is all that was required) I got to ride the ride, although not in the way I wanted. It took almost 45min to sort out the ordeal in the lobby with her yelling at us to get out or produce paperwork. This is unacceptable. Bushnell Park, you need to train your employees better to handle this. When I asked how Miss. Lorreta handled service dogs on the ride who had "paperwork" she refused to answer my question. She refused to even look at the ADA or listen to me about this situation. She was dead set on having a meaningless "paper" or uneducated Officer tell her if my service dog was allowed. Do better 👎
Took a 7 and 11 yr old on Wednesday 6.22.22 and it was free to ride as many times as you wanted (typically $2pp). I paid to park on the street but was told free parking at the capital. The staff working at the carousel was friendly, energetic, and engaging. They talked to the kids, told them what to do and where to go. The ride itself was longer than I expected. Nice surprise. The ponies are absolutely beautiful. And we all had a wonderful time.
Well maintained park where you can spend nice time. Great views of Capitol area. Carasoul ride is fun activity for kids. Super cheap. Just a dollar for ride.Fountain was surrounded by roses.
Big open park right next to capitol building... The park itself is very beautiful. I really love the fountain center piece. This park is right near the state capital building which is really a pretty sight. I was there to attend a community event. Throughout the year, events happened in this park. Bushnell Park is a great place to go if you have the need a break from the city life and want to be surrounded by nature.

Really nice area it was in was clean and well taken care of. Lots of parking options and hotels in the area. Building itself was well maintained bathrooms were clean and plenty. Food was good too.
The building itself was very open and extremely clean. I liked the way it was laid out as well. The bathrooms were kind of small for a large convention center and needed updating. The parking lot was fairly confusing and lack of elevators was surprising. But all in all it was a nice play to attend an event.
The Connecticut convention center was not bad. It’s the venue that was there the dinosaur museum experience or whatever you wanna call it. It was overpriced and it was very lame for the money that we spent. There were two different prices that you could pay for the dinosaur experience was about $125 which my nephew bought for him and his son and good thing that I chose the cheap one because we had the same experience and it was so lame. My nephew son enjoyed it but it wasn’t much for the baby to do and I brought the baby with me. Very disappointing if they ever come to the convention center again I would say you do not go stay away you better get a membership to Connecticut science center instead.
An amazing facility which lends itself to large crowds. Located in downtown Hartford, next to the Marriott. Plenty of available parking. The facility has been host to some very large events but it can accommodate all types of events. We visited the Beyond Van Gogh, Beyond Monet which was phenomenal.
Attended the Le Creuset Factory to Table event here a few weeks ago. The place was clean and spacious and crowd management was really great. The Convention Center staff were amazing in helping folks load their cars with their large and heavy purchases on the loading dock by escorting them to the pick up area and if you were alone, someone would take your goods down and stay with them while you got your car. They were very courteous and friendly and this was an amazing service! Bathrooms were clean. Parking was also really well managed. Definitely a nice place to attend an event.
Wonderful venue. We were there for Connecticon, but it would be fantastic for any convention. This photo is of my kids on a convention center stair landing dressed as Barbie Princess and the Pauper characters.
Great center. Clean, bright lights, plenty of bathrooms. The cafe food was good and afforable. Security should be improved there were no metal detectors or pat downs. I did not see any type of armed security guards mostly event staff.
The facility is incredible and the food was simply delicious. Everything was fresh flavorful and cooked perfectly. Staff is very attentive and professional and courteous. Facility is very well maintained. Really enjoyed my time there.

Came here for the first time 2 weeks ago to see Sabrina Carpenter in concert. Very nice experience and very nice venue. I enjoyed coming. I also enjoy the ease of getting in and out of the venue and the connivence of it (for me at least). Would totally come back
Clean, and good parking however every fourth seat was broken and no legroom. The bathroom situation was horrible the first main entry Women’s-bathroom only had three stalls! So if you plan on seeing anything there, don’t get anything to drink because you’ll Spend the rest of your time in the bathroom line. Security didn’t allow signs for the graduation. I could see checking them, but not to allow you to bring them for a graduation is lame.
At the Wolfpack home opener. First game since the renovation. As far as I can tell the only change are the new seats, and sportsbook bar. Many of the seats don't have cup holders, and the ones that do are useless. Cup holder is about an inch deep so drinks were falling over. My friend and I were trying to find food during the second period, and everything was sold out. The lower section was about half capacity and the upper section was almost empty so it wasn't because of an overwhelming crowd. The renovation details said there were new restaurants, don't get your hopes up. We couldn't find one. From a fan experience it doesn't feel like $145million worth of renovation.
Was here for a concert over the weekend. Artist was amazing. But the highly expensive new arena that was built, not so much. The lights in our area were on for the first two hours of the show. There’s millions of tv screens why not use them through out the show??? Especially the Jumbotron…There are no cup holders, the event staff was very rude with directions when trying to leave. What an absolute nightmare everyone compiled in the hallway at a standstill like a bunch of cattle at an auction. Not to mention they had many exits closed off in the hallways so there’s no where’s to leave! Do better Peoples Arena.
Terrible venue. Went this weekend to see Stevie Nicks. She was amazing however I'd never return to this venue for another show. The seats are smaller than an airline seat with NO cupholders which means people's drinks spill all over the floor (which they did and soaked one of our jackets during the show, just nasty). I'm 5'6 and the legroom was so sparse that my knees were hitting the edge of the seat in from of me. EXTREMELY uncomfortable and claustrophobic seating arrangements. Also the ladies room bathrooms only have 5 stalls! The lines for the ladies room wrapped around the entire middle floor. Ridiculous! And to top it off we heard it was recently remodeled. You'd think they would have learned some things and made actual upgrades to the venue. I would never go to another event here. 100% DO NOT recommend!!
went to Stevie Nicks , show was great . Ladies bathroom lines were insane and most food vendors were closed halfway through the show and like any show your gonna pay for a drink !!! Was clean and staff helpful
WORST CONCERT VENUE EVER!very long bathroom lines, very long flight of stairs safety risk. Even though there was an alternate route, wasn’t aloud to go safer route. Lights didn’t shut off, only 1 projection screen by the stage, couldn’t hear over the awful feedback from the speaker, awful awful awful. Will be going to other more accessible venues. Make it make sense! And might I add how stingy they are. Paid how much money for a renovation? And no cup holder in the seats that barely function.
It was fun to come to the XL Center. My boyfriend is from here and it's been years since he was able to see a game. But we are definitely followers of UCONN , Even all the way from Tennessee. Food was great. We tried several things. It was an overall fun experience.

Amenities depend on what you're attending, but I'm impressed by the improvements over the years. Same great place with more options. Plenty of places to grab food and drinks, food trucks on occasion, and various merch stands. Getting in and out is always pretty easy considering the capacity it serves. Great sound and lighting on the inside and on the lawn. Only thing to caution people about is the cashless venue thing - make sure you bring your plastic or electronic payment.
Decent view from the PIT but the parking and traffic situation was awful. At one point it took almost an hour to go less than half a mile and no real police direction, kind of a free for all. I wouldn’t recommend walking around alone late night so stay with the groups of people. I thought once we got inside it was nice. It might suck if the weather was bad but we had a good evening show!
Went to see the "God is a Weapon" tour! Had a great time. Drinks were like $8-24 depending on what youre drinking. Food like $12-25. Bathrooms were clean. Sound system is still great even from the lawn.
Fabulous concert experience with great acoustics and monitor setups on the lawn. Lots of portapotties, pretty decent food/drink selections (high prices but pretty typical for a concert venue). Also they let you bring in your own water in a plastic reusable bottle or sealed disposable one and you can bring small ziploc bags of snacks; most people seemed to miss that detail since it's buried in the website's FAQ page. That said, while parking is free and pretty convenient to the venue, getting out is pretty nightmarish. Currently parked at the very back of the Xfinity lot 40 mins after the concert ended watching everyone try to get out. There's no lights and no one directing traffic, so it's pretty much a free for all; recommend either bringing some post-concert snacks/entertainment so you can park and wait it out or Ubering/taking public transit. There are paid lots closer to the venue and exit that may empty out faster but do get clogged by pedestrians heading back to the free lots. Thankfully there's still multiple portapotties in the parking lot so you can camp out for a quite some time without issue.
If you get seats that's awesome. But the laws eats are great. Get there an hr before and your good. They have drinks and food. It's pricey. But its a blast. Card only.
Great experience hassle free. Friendly staff. Section 600 Row KK #611-612 great view unobstructed 👌 with seats and overhead covering #NELLY TOUR 2025 🎤 🎶 had a blast seeing Chiny, Eve, Ja Rule & the St. Lunatics
Saw 21 pilots from the grass. Great show! Easy in. I would recommend coming a bit earlier than 730 to find parking. All digital money.
For the size 22k+, a fairly good venue. I don't know if it's this way all the time but I had to leave the concert field (viewing area) to get a soda, though there were half a dozen places to buy alcohol. That's a bad decision. Driving in and out of the place is a nightmare -- but typical.

Our school trip was fun. We learned a lot and engaged with the gracious staff at the Old State House. The kids were thoroughly enjoying their time, asked lots of questions and the staff had a lot of great activities for them. Highly suggested for a school trip.
Very informative! They have multiple displays that showcase the history and life of Connecticut. The staff was friendly and helpful.
We got married here a month ago and we just love this museum. It’s an affordable and educational venue, but it’s also a wonderful representation of CT for a very small entrance fee. It is so worth it and there’s so much information to learn and so many cool things to look at. Nicole, our event coordinator was outstanding and made the museum really shine (this is an awesome place for any event). We love this little place and it was a great representation of Hartford and CTs history. From community events to school field trips to family outings to weddings, this is such a cool place and I’m so grateful for this special spot.
This historic structure was built in 1796 and located in Hartford, CT. It was the meeting place of all three branches of the state government from 1796 to 1878. Now, it is managed by the Office of Legislative Management of the Connecticut General Assembly. A new Capitol building was built near Bushnell Park because of the open space; this is why it is deemed the Old State House. Currently, it is a history museum. There is another museum on the third floor called the Museum of Natural and Other Curiousities. There are historic rooms and exhibits within the building. Tours can be purchased, check the website for details. I look forward to going back for a tour. They also have a number of events. There was a holiday shopping event on the Saturday (12/7/24) we went. The building is small compared to other states capitols I've seen, but it was magnificent nonetheless. There is a large lawn in front. There were some plaques in front of the building with some historic information. If you like history, I recommend a visit either by walking around the property or doing the paid tour.
The Museum of Curiosities at the Old State House is a fascinating hidden gem in downtown Hartford! It celebrates the legacy of Steward’s Hartford Museum, which once featured natural history wonders and unforgettable oddities like two-headed animals—including a calf and a pig. The current exhibits blend history and eccentricity in the best way, offering something intriguing around every corner. The museum is well-curated, easy to explore, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's a unique and memorable stop you won't want to miss!
Oldest buildings where the Hartford formation related and other revolutionary buildings for freedom and one of this is among them
3.26.22 Our 1st visit here and I can't believe we didn't come sooner. My library offered 4 free guests passes and weekend street parking is Free. Other libraries offer 2 adults and 2 kids passes so check yours online. The guided tour lasts about 40 min but after you can walk around on your own too. Great place foe photos and much history if that interests you. This is definitely an adult or family friendly venue.
Fascinating historic site in the heart of downtown Hartford. The Old State House is beautifully restored. The cabinet of curiosities is such a unexpected oddity to have in a state capital building. Take a short guided tour. You will learn so much more.

For somebody who's not a big fan of baseball I absolutely enjoy going to Dukin Park. It is a gem in connecticut, the park is extremely clean, well laid out friendly staff and has a lot of great little eateries all throughout. It seems like every game there's some special occasion or promotion that really engages fans of all ages and makes our family really enjoy it We tend to go to 2 to 3 games a year and always have a fun time and always leave extremely happy.
I came here for the first time and I had a really good time. The game was awesome. There’s a lot of food, overall this is a really cool atmosphere.
Such a great ball park. I set up 40 box seats to treat 40 of our top performing team members. We had access to the Yard Goats patio and a private food space. The seats were amazing, just a few rows behind home plate. Easy parking access. Great time!!
A new / state of the art, modern stadium. For $5.00, there is plenty of off property parking in an adjacent lot. Dozens of food choices, I tried the 2 ft. hot dog (yes, it was literally 24"! / *note pic) There are a few beer booths, lounges & souvenir shops. Upon arrival, they handed out team Jersey shirts & they had the "goats pen" with baby goats & a Clydesdale during our visit!
Beautiful night for the Whalers Alumni Game. Guest Services came through when we had to get a handicapped seat at the last minute for husband still recovering from hip surgery. Got him a great seat and a super comfy folding chair for his companion.
A beautiful regional stadium but the game I attended was rained out and we were soaked by the time that they called the game. They sent to players out to warm up in driving rain when the fans were getting a little restless. I see you Dunkin', very sneaky.
Great stadium, family friendly and clean! I don't think there's a bad seat in the place!
Everything about the stadium is great. There isn't a bad seat in the whole place, the food is excellent, parking is fast and easy, and the baseball was top notch.

Born and raised in the west side of the country, this was the oldest cemetery I have ever been to. Such a cool piece of history preserved in the middle of the city.
The founding families of Hartford rest here, including members of the Wyllys family—namesake of the Daughters of the American Revolution Ruth Wyllys Chapter. Walking among these old stones, you can almost feel the spirit of Connecticut’s earliest settlers and the generations who built our state. Each marker tells a story of courage, faith, and endurance. The cemetery is especially beautiful in the fall, when golden leaves blanket the ground and sunlight filters softly through the trees. A peaceful reminder of Hartford’s deep roots and enduring history.
One of the coolest things to check out in Hartford. Tons of history on a small plot of land. What makes it more interesting is the large build towering over it.
The city is allowing a 341+ year old graveyard to be desecrated by drug users who urinate, defecate, and lay trash over graves in this beautiful church yard. This is a disgrace and should be deeply shaming to those who allow this to happen. This will never be appropriate. If you allow this to happen to your city unanswered, it's wildly inappropriate and shameful.
Very poor to arrive on a day that is not a holiday when the weather is beautiful and everything says the place is supposed to be open and yet it is all locked up, with no notice on the website or anything.
Amazing graveyard with many very old graves back to the 1500s.
We loved it, but were unable to walk through all of it. Be safe if you go. We stumbled upon two people who were obviously high / messed up. One left a surenge lying on the ground, and the other literally ran out into traffic clearly messed up awaiting a Darwin Award. Beautiful area just be mindful.
Very interesting gravestones and how they differ from today. Both in terms of the language and images used on the stones. They seem to be holding up well for how old they are (hundreds of years). It's free and open to the public (at least when we went).

Monday night at Theaterworks was a delight! Packed house, but comfortable seating and easy in/out. Clean bathrooms and a well-stocked bar added to the experience. Forever Festive with Robin Fierce was phenomenal - her voice and energy were captivating! Catchy new song still stuck in my head. Note: Be cautious with parking in Hartford, as I had issues with garage hours and signage, they closed all the entry ways at 9p 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's worth the drama for the amazing show!
Small, intimate theatre. Every seat is good. Sound excellent. Of course watching Richard Thomas as Mark Twain was magical. Oh they make their own ice cream to enjoy in the lobby! Great experience.
Lovely venue, fantastic show! First time seeing a show and really enjoyed it! The seats were big enough that we were comfortable for the show, and there are only good seats to pick from. Everyone on the staff we talked with was friendly and helpful. The restroom was spotless. I’m looking forward to going back!
Very cool intimate theater! Saw a very good production about the life of Woody Guthrie. Also the wine/cocktail bar had good selections.
I love this theatre! Perfect plays. Perfect seats. Great shows! One of a kind for great intimate theatre experiences! 🙋‍♀️🎭
Amazing venue. Great time for a great cause. Celebrated World AIDS Day and all the successes and achievements our community has accomplished over the last 35+ years while honoring those we have lost. This venue was perfect and definitely recommended for any event they are hosting. Love this venue.
Wonderful production of “Woody Sez”. Great music, Wife and I were in tears at one point. The theater is very well designed. There’s not a bad seat in the whole pace.
Stages a lot of plays that are real food for thought.

This museum is wonderful! Total hidden gem. The upstairs exhibits were extremely engaging and interactive, beautifully curated, and carefully maintained. Downstairs is great, too! As two 30-year-olds we had so much fun playing all the little educational games available— kids would love it too. We planned to pop in for a hour and wound up staying for 3! We only left because the place was closing for the day. Very affordable, and the staff are lovely. Definitely recommend for all ages!!
The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History beautifully showcases the rich heritage of the state through engaging exhibits, rare artifacts, and thoughtfully curated displays. From Native American history and colonial life to modern cultural contributions, every section tells a story that connects the past with the present. The museum is well-organized, interactive, and family-friendly, making it enjoyable for visitors of all ages. The staff and guides are knowledgeable, passionate, and always ready to share deeper insights. Beyond the exhibits, the museum often hosts events, talks, and programs that make history come alive in exciting ways. Whether you’re a history buff, a student, or simply curious about Connecticut’s cultural roots, this museum is a must-visit for learning, reflection, and inspiration.
My mom and I spent a couple hours on a Saturday exploring out the Connecticut museum of culture and history, which we had both never been to before! The architecture of the building was pretty cool, as it used to be an old mansion. It took us about 2 hours to get through everything. Their permanent exhibit on the inn and tavern signs was cool to look at, and we enjoyed their current exhibit on coffee. There’s interactive experiences for all ages, and I’m so glad we visited. Highly recommend going to learn more about CT’s history!
This is a very unique museum filled with so much to see. There are permanent exhibits; Making Connecticut and Inn & Tavern Signs of Connecticut. They also have an exhibit on Mental Health which I have never seen in any museum. Definitely will help bring awareness. An Exhibit of The Philip Cast of Hamilton; an American Musical. And do much more. BTW, I love the tavern signs! There is also a gift shop but no souvenirs bearing name of museum which was very disappointing. It’s more like a small boutique because has a lot of jewelry but no real historical meaning. I could see if it were from a Native American tribe etc. I didn’t make a purchase because nothing in store caught my eye. This museum was originally a home built for Curtis Veeder between 1925 and 1928. The society has added additions. The ticket for adult was $12 which is very reasonable and it’s free every 1st Saturday. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommended visiting this museum and the nearby neighborhood. The old homes on Elizabeth St and nearby are simply beautiful. I also like that the museum have raised bed gardens with vegetables.
Beautiful building, nice space, plenty of parking, courteous staff, clean restrooms, thoughtful exhibits, child friendly, educational, listened to violinist and a fiddler with over 60 years of experience, smelled spices from the West Indies, saw coffee, sewing, slavery, and tavern sign exhibits. Lots of great information. Not overly thrilling but interesting and rich history. It’s not anything to be compared to the British Museum, any Smithsonian’s in DC, or museums in NY but it is certainly one of the nicest ones I’ve been to in CT in that it is modern, clean, visually appealing, and spacious. I was glad I didn’t pay for it. But I was glad to have visited.
11.9.25 Free to visit with my library card museum pass. Free to park. Beautiful and clean museum with nice displays.
This museum is full of information. Gorgeous interior for it used to be a residence, and the grounds are well kept. Great timeline exhibit of CT history. And the exhibits: so interesting: tavern signs and especially the one about mental health.
The place is large and well organized, when you enter someone tells you where you should go. The duration in depends on how fast you see things but it is between half an hour and an hour. On the second floor there are many fun and educational activities for children. We went today because it was free the entrance but if you have to pay l don’t know how much.
