Came for a field trip, and it was stunning, the snapdragons were amazing. The grounds we spacious and grand so bring good hiking shoes. We will be coming back.
Lovely place but the tour is way to long without any breaks. Gardens, not happy. The tour guide made it very boring and very very long.
Pebble Hill Plantation is absolutely breathtaking and full of history. The grounds are gorgeous, with massive oak trees, peaceful gardens, and stunning scenery everywhere you look. Touring the house felt like stepping back in time, and the staff made it even better with their kindness and knowledge. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and I highly recommend visiting if you’re anywhere nearby!
We absolutely loved Pebble Hill Plantation! The history was incredibly rich, and the architecture was so thoughtfully designed and far ahead of its time. Every detail was absolutely stunning!
A stunning place, and a must visit whether you are a history enthusiast or nature lover. Unfortunately, we arrived around 4:00 pm and learned that the last house tour was at 3:30 pm. However, Don from the Visitor’s Center kindly helped us make the most of the remaining time. We were able to explore the garden area and were mesmerized by its beauty. Great place for weddings and cocktail parties as well.
Amazing history of a beautiful southern home. It's like stepping back in time for a brief glimpse of an earlier time. It's amazing that 3 strong independent women ran this plantation at different times.
Absolutely gorgeous historical sight. Love the community aspect and the grounds!
So beautiful! Went with my church group!

A gigantic tree that instills so many thought’s and leaves one mesmerized. Also the amount of resurrection ferns that call this oak tree home is astonishing and beautiful. It’s 100% worth the time to stand in contemplation and admiration under this beautiful and majestic tree! 🌳
To see this giant live oak tree knowing it is over 300 years old, is quite awe-inspiring. Just imagine all the tree could tell us if it could speak. It’s a perfect place to share a history lesson with you family or guests. It’s a beautiful tree. There is no cost, it’s easy to get to and there is street parking right by it.
The Big Oak was absolutely gorgeous and so worth the short walk from downtown! The tree is massive, peaceful and perfect for a quick photo stop or just to take in its beauty. It’s one of those spots that really captures the charm of the area!
In an historic downtown that has many big beautiful trees this one still stands out. Having lived in Japan I love that they have the supports for the big sprawling limbs. It really is worth walking a few blocks out of the way if you're in the area.
i recently visited the Big Oak at 124 E Monroe St, in Thomasville, GA. Wow, what an immense tree located here. It appears that the city, county take great pride of having a tree about 350 years old. It is supported in several ways to prevent it from I guess breaking or lying onto the ground. Go take a look and think about the age of this tree
Wow! This is an amazing tree. It was alive at the time of our Constitution signing. There is a fact sign that tells you how big it is.
Ok.. Normally I don't go for these quirky roadside attractions but I have to admit, I really liked seeing this tree. It's massive and pictures don't show the reality of how big it really is. It's really cool how the arborists can keep this tree growing and if you take the time to look over it how it's all held together is really amazing. It's a really beautiful tree and I definitely think it's worth the few minutes it takes to stop and look at it and walk around a while.
Natural almost 400 year old wonder. While I personally wouldnt make it the ONLY reason to visit, it makes a great relaxing end to shopping and dining nearby.

This was a very beautiful and interesting home. This isn’t one of those places where you only see a select few rooms and can’t touch anything. You get to tour the whole home, even areas unfinished. You can go on all three floors, you can touch things, you can sit in many of the seats. This is a marvelous place to tour. You may want to call ahead to see when to tour, it’s normally open Fridays 1-4. I think they do tours only on the hour, but they may have just been today. It’s $10/person - but only $14 if you want to tour the home and historical museum.
This is one of the coolest houses in America. Anne was super helpful and had great information about the Lapham and Patterson families.
Mike was absolutely wonderful, he truly enjoys the history of the house and explains the history of it clearly and enthusiastically! Answered all of our questions, we really enjoyed him and the house is very … unique, you will leave there with more questions if you pay attention to the details and if you listen to what Mike tells you ! I had a wonderful time, I’m coming back !!
I was lucky to visit the Lapham-Patterson house on the equinox! The afternoon sun allowed the stars and the ram's head to appear on the floor. The ceiling and floors, the large bedrooms with neighboring sitting rooms were beautiful. Outstandingly maintained. Thank you.
Quirky, intriguing piece of architecture preserved in almost original state with guided tours which discuss the owners and their lives as well as some interesting facts about the home itself. It's an inexpensive and fun place to stop in and spend an hour or so when out in the downtown area.
Very enjoyable, Mike (our tour guide) loves what he does and it shows. It was nice to visit an historical home and actually be able to walk around the rooms, no ropes to stand behind.
We love to tour interesting historical homes. We were pleasantly surprised by this unique home. A must see if you enjoy historical homes with great background stories.
What an unique house! This place is definitely different! There's a lot of original furniture pieces and some atrange features. Our guide was very knowledgeable and luckily we were the only people on that tour. If you're in the area, don't miss this treasure!

Came for my birthday and had a wonderful time ! They have what I’m going to call “Historic Bowling” that they actually let you bowl. So much to look at you will definitely wants to put some time aside to really appreciate all the pieces of history. The people that work the desk and help take care of the grounds are super knowledgeable, I would certainly take a moment to ask them questions. Truly enjoyed my time !!
I recently visited the Thomasville History Center at 725 N Dawson St, in Thomasville, GA. I highly recommend taking a self guided tour of the History Center. The exhibits discuss the history of the area including tourism, and the businesses and how history has impacted the area. There are numerous period buildings on the property including a bowling ball land. It's worth the trip.
We lived here for years. My late husband’s family are from Thomasville, Ga! They still live there today. My late husband loves history and this was the first place he took us to! He said… We all must cherish our past. The people, places and things that make us who we are today. Thomasville has the most interesting history. This was a place of Presidents and Dignitaries who once vacationed and lived here. Get this the streets are named after those who will and have lived on in history forever. The museum tells all the stories of the past. This place has a wealth of information on Thomasville ! I will bring my daughter here one of these days so she can see and show her around where her family is from!
Thoroughly enjoyed the self guided tour and the ability to wander at our leisure and have access to all the buildings on the property. Even tried our hand at bowling. Very interesting.
It's a nice place to look around. Theres several great buildings in the back. The welcome was not that friendly but it was around lunch time and folks do get hungry. The self guilded tour is 5.00 per adult and guided tours are 8.00 We were not offered a guided tour I guess because of the time. We usually enjoy a guided tour more. It's is worth the time to visit.
Wonderful experience today with the Thomasville History Center. I had researched and found family photos of multiple generations of the Crawford family, I worked with Ephraim Rotter, Curator to obtain digital copies of these photos. He was very helpful and a pleasure! The photos included some my cousins had never seen before! Such treasure! Thank you so much!
So much to discover and learn about our wonderful town! ❤️
Another one of several neat places to visit in downtown Thomasville. We did a self guided tour and learned about Thomasville's rich history and got a chance to see some really interesting artifacts. I would recommend it to anyone who is exploring downtown with Friends and Family.

This is a GREAT MUSEUM. Lots of information and some really cool artifacts. My favorite was the barber chair and the beauty chair and hair dryer. I would have liked to have seen maybe some sort of family tree on the founder. My only suggestion may be a little bit more Condi and less Bill Cosby Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson.
This museum was amazing. The two ladies who work there were great. We actually got to meet Jack Hadley, and listen to him tell his story. It was a great experience 👍🏽!
What a beautiful place to visit and learn about black history, Mr Hadley took my hubby and I on the tour of the museum what a great person a wealth of knowledge I plan to revisit and spend more time too much to absorb in just one visit I encourage every race to go and see and you will not be disappointed
There is a wealth of information in this building. I love history, and this museum is definitely a place I recommend.
We visited Thomasville, Ga. for the first time. My Dad was born in Thomasville and it has always been my desire to go to his hometown. We went there with no expectations except excitement and anticipation. We discovered this Hidden Gem and we were excited that they opened for us. The history that is compiled here is too numerous to mention. There are 4 galleries and you could literally spend all day in each one. We received a personal tour from the curator, Jack Hadley and he is a living encyclopedia of Black history. The collection covers not only the history of Black people from Thomasville but from across this great nation. Thank you Mr. Hadley you made our trip a memorable one
Highly recommend going in and learning all about Black History. There is so much to look at and learn.
During a weekend visit w/ my daughter googled things to do in Thomasville, GA and learned of this museum. We were greeted warmly by the staff & met Mr. Hadley, Founder (pictured/center)who personally addressed questions & discussed historical events. My family & I were grateful for the experience, the exhibits exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend to all!
Very interesting. This museum is full of unbelievable facts and visual images right out of an African American history book. A must see for people who want to know what it was really like.

A very beautiful and safe place to walk/run lots of people so it's not lonely. I've seen turtles, fish, birds, ducks in the water. A great place to experience nature and its also connected to the rose garden. They have picnic tables, and pavilion for fun gatherings, and a play ground for kids. Lots of dog walkers too.
I ride my bike pretty regularly and most of the time with my daughter. It's a good central spot to start. Safe parking and friendly park visitors. Very diverse and I love that everyone waves or says hello here... great for young to older to walk, jog, bike, etc.
Nice cement trail around the lake. Lots of ducks, geese, squirrels, turtles and some fish to look at. Everyone was very nice. The parking is mostly paved or a little rugged, but nothing any car can’t handle.
Sunday June 18 2023 My husband, our one year old, our seven month old and my pregnant self visited Cherokee lake park today. It was pretty nice! There's a little park and a picnic area. Nearby There's the lovely rose garden. This place is stroller accessible. If you need to take a break there are benches all along the trail. There are ducks, geese, squirrels, and turtles everywhere. The animals were all fun to watch especially for kids. There's a sign that tells you what you can and can't feed the animals here.
Come see the beautiful waterfowl and amazing foliage. A lovely place with minimal interference from humans, just the bridges taking you across the water and in a large circle back to the parking lot. Check out the roses when they're in season!
We come out every afternoon to do 3-5 miles of cardio everyday. Clean and well maintained!
It's a nice park to take the family. Good for exercise. The city needs to refinish the picnic areas and install new fences. The sidewalk is needing repairs also. But overall a good place.
Walked with my girlfriend around the trail and rose garden. have taken our kiddos to the park side. Loved the lake and all the geese! Beautiful! And potty is included lol

This church means more than words can explain! I am grateful and blessed by all the types of community ministry they share and a personal ministry from a variety of people in this building! They share their hearts out all the time! Go check them out if you need a place to rest and if you need peace and calming! 🙌😇🌞
Wonderful, caring staff and congregation. Very active in mission work both financially and personally. If we lived in Thomasville, we would definitely be members there. As it is, living in Florida, we do occasionally livestream Sunday morning service on YouTube 😉.
Wonderful, caring church. Great Bible studies, programs, missions projects, and music for children and youth are excellent, music is the best because of leadership. Large choir. Very active senior citizens group.
We absolutely love our church family here. The kids program is great.
Loving family atmosphere. Authentic worship and focus on our Lord Jesus Christ
Went here for a little when I was young great church for sure.
Excellent church where you're a person, not a number.
Come just as you are. Loving on people like Christ commands us.
