The staff are very friendly and informative, I bought a $25 membership that allows me and 5 other people to for free for a year. The walk is fairly easy and stroller friendly, there were also a little of interactive spots on the trail for kids to learn about science. Also, there were a lot of different kids of animals and helpful information posted about them around the enclosures. They have a gift shop by the entrance that also is very cool to check out especially they have ice cream on hot days. Definitely recommend everyone of all ages to check it out!
We got very lucky that we came 1.5hrs before close, week day, so there was not many other people there. And we saw all the animals, except one. Their areas all seemed very nice, well maintained, and enriching. Especially loved the chipmunk area, where they were going in and out of their exhibit, but there is a place to watch up close. And how the deer could walk underneath you. Definitely could have stayed for longer! Loved walking around because it didn't feel like a "zoo" and felt generally more natural. It was like a trail walk through the woods and zoo combo. Educational exhibits were also really unique and hands-on. Even I enjoyed them as an adult!
10/10 would recommend. Our high energy 3 year old had the time of his life. So kid friendly, so many things to keep him interested (and walking the whole trail with no complaints!!!) but also so incredibly cool for adults. Our son wasn’t even totally interested in the animals besides the first looks but the puzzles and interactive walls at every exhibit had him so excited. We had an amazing time. We came right when it opened so the parking and purchasing tickets were a breeze.
Get your tickets in advance, even though they sell a lot of tickets there's so much room around that it never feels crowded. Lots of active awesome animals. Even better if you can catch any of the live shows to get up close to new animals. Lots of interactive learning activities for the kids at almost every stop along the path!
Great place to visit and enjoyed local wildlife to New Hampshire. If you can make it for the animal demonstrations they are very informative and interactive. Always love seeing the bald eagles as they are so much larger close up.
There is a lot to see and learn about, including animals, ecology, research practices, and even renewable energy! I especially appreciate the signs that state how they got their animals, why they aren't releasable, etc. I also liked how natural all ot the enclosures are kept, and that we get to learn what kinds of enrichment the animals got that day. We brought our son, who is 5 months old, and he fell asleep about halfway through, but my partner and I enjoyed it just the same!
Wonderful ecological exhibits and explanations, great for children and adults. The animal spaces were large and aesthetic and the animals looked very well cared for. We loved the fisher and lively otters!
Beautiful setting. Almost seems built into the natural landscape. Great place for anyone with Autism. Tons of hands on displays and learning material. Also lots of cute photo ops. Not every animal was out but a majority was

We hike West Rattlesnake Mountain several times a year. The hike is invigorating and the views are inspirational. Highly recommend!
Fun little short hike. Took about 35 min to this view. Finding the actual trail from the road was tricky as signage wasn't very clear or obvious. Nice view
We aren't in the area often but my two kids (6 and 4), my sister, and I made a pit stop for a quick hike on our way up north. It's really clear and wide in most places which is good when it's more crowded. My kids were easily able to ascend without needing any breaks in about 30 minutes, the decent was about 20 minutes. It's the easiest hike for the most beautiful views!
Great hike with beautiful views of squam lake.
Easy how with great view payoff! Will absolutely do again! Go early, parking lot small and gets full
Very popular easy to moderate hike about half hour 45 minutes up and about a half an hour downhill . The view is absolutely gorgeous of Squam lake and the surrounding areas. Lots of little islands to look at! Plenty of open ledge to sit on and a great place to bring up a picnicAnd enjoy the view or even ✍🏼 draw in a sketch book. Easy enough for the kids!
Nice moderate hike for great views!
It is an excellent first-level hike with an amazing view. Not too long. It is up a very small mountain, but the trail has a good path with stairs and stepping rocks, so the hardest inclined area equals a staircase. When wet, I recommend shoes with good grip since rocks can be a little slippery. I walked up and back to the car with an active four-year-old accustomed to hikes and a puppy in just over an hour.

Cindy took us on an amazing excursion. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the lake area. She showed us the filming locations for On Golden Pond and we saw Loons! We went to Church Island, it is beautiful and peaceful. Thank you so much Cindy for a memorable and safe excursion on Squam Lake. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend Experience Squam.
A MUST do. We’ve booked with Cindy for over a decade and each time it’s a highlight of our stay. Incredible, scenic, informative, peaceful, private experience.
Cindy made our first visit to Squam Lake one we will never forget. We were fortunate enough to have a dockside pick up at our house on her beautiful boat. I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about boats but this one was a beautiful, smooth, and, oh my gosh, so fast. As a family of 6, our idea of a lake trip were all of different and for our two hour trip, we got to see it all. Learning the local history and lore of a lake is something you can’t replicate or create on your own. We had a general tour of the lake and visiting some of the must see spots as well as looking for the protected loons. Cindy said her tours are popular with day trippers as well and she has a variety of styles of trips to meet your needs. We got back and our kids were begging for more!
Cindy is fantastic! She is an experienced and safe captain, and very knowledgeable about the history of the lake and wildlife. I highly recommend her; we will boat with her again! Thank you, Cindy!!
My wife and I were debating between renting our own boat and going this route, we are so glad we went with experience Squam. James was a very good captain, shared interesting information and kept everything at a great pace. Highly recommend.

Longhaul has that quintessential New Hampshire feel. It's rustic, but well-kept, and the owners are very kind and welcoming. I went with my family for the Saturday night BBQ, and the place really did have a magical feel to it, and the food was ridiculously good. Highly recommended!
Great local food, cute and useful market. BBQ on Saturday is top-notch music food and a picnic table, perfect. Bring friends a wallet full of cash bear/wine and you got a perfect evening oh and keep your hands off the last slice of raspberry pie thats mine.

We rented a 24' pontoon boat from Holderness Harbor for a week this summer and were very satisfied with the entire experience. The boat was comfortable, clean, and reliable, and the staff at the marina were very friendly and extremely helpful. We definitely plan to rent a boat from them next year!
Very nice for our maiden voyage. Excellent parking when not full. Facilities and food available in the area too.
Called at the last minute to rent a pontoon boat and Donna was very accommodating in hooking us up with Lil' Red. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and offered us a cooler with ice for our packed lunch. Smitty patiently walked us first timers at Squam through navigating the lake so we felt comfortable. The boat itself was great, and we loved seeing Donna's dog Montana strolling around the rental shop.
2 years in a row they have not honored THEIR OWN POLICY for daily boat rentals. Last year, they allowed people to reserve the "Daily Rental" boats a month in advance, despite their website clearly stating that you could only reserve starting Sunday for any day of that week. Today, I was informed that the 4 boats that they "reserve/set aside" for daily rentals are all reserved for the entire week, even though their website clearly states that these 4 boats are set aside for daily rentals. They used to be a great place to rent a boat on Squam, the highlight of our vacation to the lakes region. They have lost me with these decisions to screw those of us who don't have an extra 8-1500 to rent a boat for the entire week. Stick to your policies that YOu created!
Took a reservation for a pontoon boat they do not have because they “double booked” . They also cancelled via text message. Classy. So if you make a reservation please know that you do not really have a reservation. Several very disappointed kids and adults, as well as a very sad and upset birthday boy who thought he was going on a boat today. Gear all set and ready to go this morning but NO BOAT!!! Thanks, Donna! Update: we stopped by Squam Rentals and Although they had no boats left, they were very kind and offered us several other options to get out on the water instead. Will rent from them next time!
Deedee and Chris were SO knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. They guided us in our decision making perfectly and their prices were VERY fair. Our boat was perfect for us and very clean with all the right amenities and we felt very safe. Asquam Marina IS THE BEST!! Thank you VERY much for helping us have a great time on Squam Lake.
We drove from Rhode island and was nervous about the ride and putting our new boat at the marina, the friendliest and the warm welcome that we received was amazing. The kind and care of the people working with us made it so easy for us. Taking and putting the boat in the water for us and made sure we were safe before we went on squam lake with our boat. Highly recommend this Marina. Thank you for the amazing time.
I've been going to Squam for over 45 years. And we've rented boats from four different establishments. These folks are fantastic to work with, offer really wonderful equipment (some of which you can't find anywhere else) and do it all with a smile and a laugh. Well worth the call to book a boat. Prices are similar to the other folks in town. My family had a blast last week thanks to them.
