Rented canoes and had a great time. Water was knee deep or less in most places and the current was very calm, which was very reassuring to the beginners in our group. The best, beach like sandbars, are near the beginning the route, but you could get out and explore anywhere. Very convenient parking during the week (M-F). Highly recommended.
Great people! They have all the options for floating down the Maquoketa River available. The 8 mile stretch of the river is beautiful.
Very nice place. Driver was great. We were able to use our own kayaks for $20 and our truck was waiting for us at the end of the 7 mile float.
We went Memorial Day weekend 2023. We took the Shuttle to the location, and check in was pretty quick. They assigned us our stuff (4 inner tubes and 2 canoes) and off we went. We had 5 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs. 2 adults and 2 kids took tubes and three adults, three kids and the dogs took the canoes. The entire trip down the river was from 9:30am-5:15pm. There is NO bath room stop, although there are sandbars along the way. I would highly recommend bringing waterproof coolers with snacks and a lot of sun block. We had people who knew what they were doing with us, and I'm so grateful for that. We all applied sun block every 2 hrs. Those who strictly used the spray sun block still burned, those of us who used lotion were fine. Hats and old clothes/swim wear are definitely necessary. Having a waterproof container for keys and phones is a good idea, or triple bagging them in heavy duty Ziploc.
We had a blast. Everything is so convenient and professional. All you have to do is park and they take care of everything else. Very nice equipment Super friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely use them for future river trips
Good long river float. Make sure there's deep enough water before you go. Otherwise, you're in for a min of 5+ hours workout. Kayaks are shorter and shallow, so don't bring along too many extras, maybe a small snack size cooler. Get to drop your car off at the end spot beforehand so you can depart from your own vehicle at the end of the trip. Very friendly, local, family-owned business.
Staff was very friendly & helpful, answered any questions we had & was more than accommodating. Wasn't too expensive, provided life jackets for the kids. Great time!
This is our 2nd time going as a family. Super fun experience once again! We left about 9:45 and got to the pick up area by 3:30(?) with 1 canoe, 4 kayaks, and 4 tubes *we towed the tubes behind things the entire time (wouldn't do this again). ;) It's almost like an obstacle course trying to avoid dead trees and sand bars, but we had a good time. They are phenomenal with transporting you to the rental place from where you park, and back to your cars once done. They are amazing!!!

Climbing and hiking for all levels here! Definitely recommend going with friends for the day and challenging yourself. No cell service in the park.
Great for rock climbers. A couple nice short hiking paths in the woods.
A truly delightful park tucked away into the river valley. Well wooded, quiet waters, easy to more difficult trails with the main trail being a short hike that passes below most of the rock climbing areas, and then multiple bluffs perfect for many levels of repelling.
Happened to find this area when lost by Google maps. Bathrooms were nasty dirty. Area was covered in greenery so hard to see alot of the beauty. Never did any trails but would like to return in a couple weeks when the leaves are turning. Didnt see hikers or climbers but were a few cars there so suspect there were some. East access to river for loading and unloading canoes or kayaks. Water looked to shallow in area I looked but might be deeper areas. Clear water!
Great crag with a lot of good moderate routes. We climbed mostly 5.8s and 5.9s. Rock is in good shape and we only came across a couple bits of loose hardware. For the Midwest this is a great destination, some of the best climbing within 5 hours of Omaha where we came from.
WHY AREN'T PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS PLACE?! I happened upon the park by zooming in on green parks of a Google Map. Seriously. I've never heard/read anything about this park. AND I DON'T GET IT. This park was so well maintained with clean bathrooms and parking lots, clear and easy to use trails and the friendliest fellow hikers we've come across. I think everyone was just feeling happy that day! The rock formations are gorgeous and the info board by the restrooms was super interesting. There is a cave but looking at the map, it seems like it's best for the experienced. There were a TON of climbers out. They were all super polite and gave us room to hike by or take pics. Some of the rock formations had areas for hooking yourself up to climbs with. Definitely a must come to place if you're a climber! There is only a few clear trails, but don't let that steer you away! We will be back!!
Don't expect lot of hiking trails. It is one by the river going to Indian Cave. If you are adventurous, you may try crowl into cave, it is map there. But I wouldn't try. I assume it is more undeveloped trails there, but you need local guys to show you. Otherwise, good picnic grove, volt toilet. Boat launch. No camping.
We have been coming here for years. Gorgeous. This time it was crowded for the first time with rock climbers 🧗

Stopped for the night and found this place. Great food and not the usual menu items. Pork quesadillas were fantastic and the scallops melted in your mouth. Bacho melt for an appetizer is highly recommended. Place was packed on a Saturday night (mainly locals) and I think they only had a couple waitresses but she was very nice and checked on us often.
Awesome restaurant for such a small town. Most smoke flavored pulled pork I've ever had.
Great place to enjoy dinner and wine. Unique decor, excellent service, reasonable prices, delicious food.
I don't normally post restaurant reviews but thought people should know this place is NOT what it used to be. No longer run by its authentic original owners. Completely different menu. Food was disappointing. Went there with 3 other couples who were equally disappointed. Burgers were dry, street tacos were served with only half the ingredients listed on the menu and drinks were poorly made. So sad after such great effort was put into this place by previous owners.
I cannot say enough about the Jitney. We drive from Cedar Rapids to go here. Wonderful food, drinks, and service! Great place for parties - we have had at least four gathers ranging from 15-30 people where they served us family style that has been consistently excellent . Great selection craft and import beers, cocktails, and wine. Definitely worth a trip!
The street tacos were great. Service was also very good.
I meet friends here occasionally. The drive from Iowa City is well worth it. Delicious food and beverages, unique decor, and helpful staff make you want to stay. Looking forward to my next opportunity to dine there.
Such a great place in small town Iowa. Some friends turned us on to this place and a group of us went recently. The beer selection was great and the food was even better. Well worth the drive from Cedar Rapids.
