What an unbelievably fun tour. From the picture opportunities out front, to the gift shop that offers plenty to do while waiting for the next trip, to the jewel of the attraction, the mine tour itself, this is a must see. Our tour was incredibly enhanced by the very knowledgeable tour guide, Chris. Such a fun and educational experience that our kids will remember for the rest of their lives.
Absolutely loved the mine tour. The train to get into the mine is such a unique experience from other cave tours. A lot of history and our tour guide had great knowledge. Loved the view of the tracks from the seat in the very back. It is a bit fast paced, but they are fairly accommodating. A sweater helps as it does get chilly in the mine. Gift shop had a plethora of options and there were great picture opportunities out front. I went with my husband and my 3 year old and 7 month old. My only complaint was that there were a few semi loud machines and whistle in the beginning. I love that we got to see them in action; however, I wish we would have had a heads up so we could move my kiddos away from the machines and cover their ears for the whistle, specifically the 7 month old. They weren’t overly loud, the baby got over it quickly, just would have appreciated a heads up since we didn’t know what to expect. So if you have littles, heads up for you. Otherwise, absolutely loved it and will hopefully be able to visit again.
This is one of the best mine tours I’ve been on and I’ve been on a handful of them. I had a great conversation with the ladies in the store and they were so nice! My fiancé and I were fortunate enough to go at just the right time and we got a private tour and it was amazing. Our tour guide did a great job at explaining things!
Great experience. It's wild the temperature change once your in the mine then coming back out. The tour guide is very impressive wit his knowledge and able to capture you're attention. It's a beautiful thing to see. The gift shop has so many interesting things to look at I'd definitely consider going again.
My mom has wanted to visit for years, and we finally made it — so glad we did! The tour was fast-paced and full of fascinating info about the mine’s history and the people who worked there. Our guide was a young woman who was incredibly sweet and patient, which made the experience even better. It’s not the easiest for those with mobility issues — my mom uses a cane and was determined to do it. She made it through and absolutely loved the tour. She was so happy she finally got to experience it! Definitely bring a sweater — it’s cold as all get out down there. The gift shop was also great, with a surprisingly good selection of crystals at excellent prices. A memorable and meaningful stop!
I Went on the Mine tour at the same time as a group of geology students which made it a little extra educational. The tour guide was great, spoke very clear and projected his voice well so the whole group could hear. The tour went down into the mine by track car and you get to get out at the end of the track to see a couple different areas. Overall it was a great tour with lots of history about the Upper peninsula. Tour cost is 20$ per adult, free for 5 and under
Amazing tour! The guide knew sooo much which was great, and the views are amazing! Definitely recommend this for a fun family trip!
It was a very nice little mine. The ride into and the walk was worth it. Lots of cool stuff to see. The guide was well informed and made the experience educational, too.
