The photography by Tate is absolutely must see amazing! Carol also has an extensive collection of amazing abstract art. Both are very friendly! Definitely recommend visiting if you have a chance.
Beautiful spot on NS. Felt like time slowed down. Would have stayed all day if possible to soak in all the loveliness.
Was looking for antiques but they are artists and wildlife photographer really nice art and the photo's are unbelievable closeup that you can see a reflection in one birds eyes. Cool stuff.
Tate is a great photographer. He was very kind sharing his art with us ( Martin and Elizabeth) today at the Old Barn Galleries. Definitely worth seeing on your travel journey through Antigonish County.
This place is a hidden gem! Beautiful artwork by local artists including Carol (aka Naveta), the knowledgeable owner. She took us around, telling us the history of the farm and the artwork the buildings contained. There are also some antiques for sale. Artwork is reasonably priced; we bought three pieces.
Found thus beautiful photo and met the lovely owners off the beaten path during a recent trip to Nova Scotia. If you have the chance and some extra time I recommend making the stop
Don't miss Rodney Tate's photos! He is such an amazing photographer! We tried our best to narrow it down to two finally, as we were exceeding our luggage weight limit. He is super nice and chill. I love the animal photos he took, and his enormous effort in all seasons to catch them, as a photography lover, I understand how hard it is. Good job Rodney!
This is an interesting shop. The owner, Carol has lots of cool paintings in impressionist style. 4 other artists have works there, too. Next door in the carriage house holds works by wildlife photography, Ron. Each gave us back stories to their work and were interesting to talk with. The garden they have created is beautiful. Lots of different types of plants and statues.

Great small town museum, but still has lots of area history. Very knowledgeable staff! And great handmade caramels!
Haven't been inside but have eaten at their picnic table a couple times. Needs tightening up! Sometimes it smells like poo water here.
Needs people to provide a copy of old records. Obits, Marr, births etc. I trying to help. Don MacDonald Calgary, Cape Breton born, Havre Boucher raised.
What a gem! My friend and I booked a 10AM weekday slot for the escape room; we could not be more delighted and impressed by our experience! The staff were so friendly and the escape room itself was just the right level of excitement and challenge for us. Make sure you book in advance - it is more than worth the price for an hour of fun! I should also say that the museum is a great stop in itself, and I got to go home with some local treasures from the gift shop!
10/10 would recommend visiting this adorable little train station/post office turned museum. So much information in such a little space with a very knowledgeable host (Barry), who even offered to host my husband and I in the escape room experience at the end of the day even though we hadn't booked in advance (and to be honest, we had no idea that there was an escape room in the museum)! Great fun overall, and we will be coming back for sure!
It seems through the windows this may be an interesting little local museum. However, we were on the Saturday of the August long weekend and it was closed. What a missed opportunity.
Great history. Very welcoming staff. Must visit on a Thursday for a surprise live band.
Super knowledgeable friendly attendees, great displays, well worth the stop

Very interesting facts on blue fin tuna fishing, a short 10min. Video to explain.
We stopped at this “museum” many years ago with our boys, young teens at the time. I talked for a while to fishermen who had just come in with a tuna. They described the long, hours, and the two man, one I’m on the reel and the other maneuvering the boat, process of catching 200 Ib tuna. The next thing you know, they took as all into the storage building and used a lift to hall the fish out of a container of ice and showed it to our family. We saw it before Japanese who fly in to sample and the bid on the highest quality catch.
It is a nice working little harbour but the interpretive centre disappointed a bit as it did not have much information or displays.
A great interactive small exibit. One room with a friendly knowledgeable staff member. Color station for kids and little displays. Good for them to learn for a short period of time.
The girls working their were informative and inviting
If you are in the area drop in to this Cove and take a look at the exhibits and watch the video on the history of the blue fin tuna. This Cove is a working warf and numerous fishing boats berth here. There is also a food stand serving local fish entries as well as ice cream. Recommended for all.
Must see. Friendly staff, very well designed exhibits about what it was like to arrive penniless in NS without food , in Sept, in mid 1700s. Professionally done. Inexpensive.
It’s a surprise to many that a small fishing community like Ballantyne’s Cove, nestled along the shoreline of St. George’s Bay, is home to some of the world’s largest bluefin tuna. In fact, the largest tuna ever caught, weighing 1647 pounds, was landed at this wharf in the late 1970s, and avid fishing enthusiasts from as far away as New Zealand return every year to charter a fishing boat. The Bluefin Tuna Interpretive Centre is a tidy little building alongside the wharf. Open daily during the summer months, it’s a delightful storehouse of interesting facts and artifacts. Take, for example, its one-of-a-kind fishing chair, a complicated raised apparatus with padded arms and a neckrest. Few people know this, but the late Harold Ballantyne, one of the area’s most accomplished fishermen, created this unusual piece of nautical furniture from an old barbershop chair. And who could fail to be entertained by the background story of the antique cut glass prism lighthouse lamp made in France in the 1800s? (People will have to come to the cove for this anecdote.) Along with artifacts and maps that tell the story of the early days of the tuna fishery in St. George’s Bay is an excellent eight-minute video created by Peter Murphy featuring many of the people who are still earning a living from the sea. The Tuna Interpretive Centre is a little-known gem in an area known for its colourful history.

The Antigonish Farmer's market has local artisan food, art and crafts, as well as in season vegetables and flower/herb market. Though it is quite small, it is a great way to get a feel for the town culture, and the people of Antigonish are absolutely lovely.
Only been here once, absolutely loved it. Variety and vendors are super friendly. A must go!
The best way to discover a city/town/community is to visit a farmers' market. The Antigonish Farmers' Market is a delightful market supported by and run by a community of farmers, makers, producers and artists and artisans and their neighbours. You never know what you will find here in this year-round market.
fun...authentic...friendly folks...terrific choices in food...beautiful local crafts & well just a great way to spend a few hours.
Lots of variety of local vendors with some great products
Nice size market, it is indoors versus open air. Was very busy when we went and most patrons were not there to meander but rather rush from place to place while on a mission which took away from our experience as we just felt in the way. A good assortment of vendors and you could get a fair bit of your shopping done here. I recommended checking out their webpage to see what they have or following them on one of their social media accounts.
Knitting from Beverly Ann, wool blankets, local produce and meats along with local craftsmen.
For people new to the area. Don’t miss it. It’s local, cooperative community. Great food !!
Great variety of fresh vegetables and reasonable prices. Gluten free bread available. Lots of space to move about. Indoor and outdoor shopping. Flowers for the table and the garden. One can eat breakfast and lunch there. And so much more.
My family and I look forward to this market every weekend. The vibes are very warm and welcoming. There is a wide variety of selection, both to purchase to take home and to eat and enjoy right there at the market.

Men's basketball team took the time to sign hats and mini basketballs after an incredible semi finals win. Great players teaching amazing lessons to a couple of excited young boys. Very impressive program.
Are you a real university? If yes then explain to me the x-ring ? Second what are the major that you are teaching there ? How many students are in-rolling now ? And how many students are graduated last year ? BY names MY name still online on the university where 8 graduated as mechanical engineering in 2002 And even then later finiahed master degree and used to teach at scenica college So do you need a professor at your university? If yes then I will start next week but under one condition ! The #HereToHelp to be canceled
Masters experience was poor to say the least. In general communication is quite poor and at times nonexistent. They charge you upfront for services and benefits, then make you go through an opt out process, which is deceitful and underhanded in my opinion. The professors are fair for the most part, although some are on their high horse, like Ingrid Robinson. She keeps her phone on during classes, allows it to ring constantly, threatens students with disciplinary review over AI because she clearly can't tell if you are using it or not. A lot of the department contacts do not respond when you reach out via email. In general just a money grab and there are better educational opportunities out there. Save yourself a lot of time and frustration, go to a better university in Nova Scotia.
Only was in the one of the gym areas but was a very nice and clean facility and well taken care of
Great open house! Very welcoming!
This institution prioritizes financial dealings over academic excellence. The focus on monetary aspects leaves much to be desired. My experience with the accounting department raised concerns about whether the upper management is aware of the situation. I cannot recommend this place.
Beautiful campus. I stopped by on my way back to New Brunswick from Cape Breton.

Great little spot to stop for lunch. Accessible drop toilet. No camping.
Great spot not too far off the Trans-Canada highway. Enroute for us to/from Cape Breton and the NL ferry. Great dog walking area and spot to stretch your legs. It’s a keeper spot for us in our travels.
Beautiful park and close to the hwy. Great spot for a picnic during our long road trip. Would definitely go back to spend more time
A great level walk through the woods. Spotted all manner of woodland creatures during our spring stroll, including deer and two jackrabbits .
Lovely little park area, that leads into various trail branches. Maps along the way let you know where you are. Trails are marked with typical orange markers. There is a short paved circuit as well as longer and slightly steeper wooded circuit. Great for hiking and/or Skiing when weather allows.
Awesome place to snowshoe. Well marked trails and good up and down for exercise. Not very suitable for cross country skiing as they don't have classic style trails groomed. I suppose skate style would be possible. Ample parking and has bathroom facilities near the parking area. Very near Antigonish. Looking forward to biking here in the summer.
Great place to walk or hike with dogs or kids. The first loop is paved and then well maintained hiking loops. Appears to be a former provincial campground.
Walk can be just simple short walk or decent long walk. Sweet little park with a backwoods type campground in the summer has one set of outhouses and they we're absolutely disgusting someone number 2 all over the women's.

They have tasty fish and chips with excellent portion sizes! Definitely will be by next time I’m in town!
Went to bring my kids to the go carts. We ate, food was great. Go carts were fun. Batting cages were slow and ran outtve balls so we couldn't continue hitting. Notified staff. Waited 15 Mins then left. Lots of the machines/games could use maintenance it seemed. But we still had a good time on account of the go carts and food
I would give zero stars if I could. Came here with our family of 5. $80 for all of us to play mini golf and 1 round of go carts! Mini golf course is in major need of repairs. Turf is ripped, wood rotten & rusty nails sticking up. Maximum of 6 people can go-cart at one time. Batting cages don’t work - the ball bounces before it crosses the plate and the bat was at least 25 years old and heavier than my 9 year old daughter. Website should be updated to reflect current prices and state of affairs. Disappointing to say the least.
I've gone here when I was a kid. They had alot more to offer then. Staff was nice. Mini-golf is the same as when I was a kid. And I mean like it looks like it was never maintained since I was a kid. Half the time I was fishing the ball out from under the "obstacles". Bumper cars. None existent. Bumper boats, where? Arcade was laughable and the battle cages unpredictable. Either it needs updating or just give up. Not worth the money anymore. Sorry SQLW but your glory days from the 80s and 90s are past.
This used to be such a lovely place. Hands down is still serves some of the best soft serve ice cream you'll find anywhere... and people swear by their burgers. It is showing its age a bit through with the empty bumper boats pool and the closed bumper cars building. The race track and go-carts are still popular as are the batting cages and mini golf course. The small dining room doesn't appear to be open either this year. Take your turn on the race track and reward yourself with some ice cream... or a burger and fries!
Drove over 2 hours to have some fun with my grandsons...what a disappointment!! The only ride available was the go karts and mini golf(run down). And it was so hot out we were hoping for a little fun on the bumper boats. Maybe you should update your website to reflect the lack of rides or entertainment ☹️
This place needs a SERIOUS WORK EVERYTHING IS MAJORLY RUN DOWN! a little paint maybe ? 🤔 All that was open was the go karts, batting cage, and the mini put The go karts , the guy operating them was awesome! And they were fun.... The helmet you have to wear ( which I understand) , are not sanitized in between!!! The batting cage had running mats hanging, and no one to restock the balls! The mini put, ha! It was horribly run down! The ' turf' was all torn, and everything was literally falling apart! Anything at the canteen was wayyyyyyy over priced!!! From the other reviews, this has been like this for 6 yrs!
Stopped for 3 small ice cream, young lady said $18.90. Asked how much small ice-cream was and she was not sure, $3.50 I think. well $18.90 divided by 3 = $6.30 for small soft ice cream that was smaller that a baby cone anywhere else. Never see us again.

A great local theatre with multiple offerings throughout the summer season. Even have child friendly plays, and musicals! Great atmosphere, and a lounge for light refreshments!

What a fantastic park! A great selection of playground equipment for swinging, climbing, jumping and riding (including an accessible swing). There is also a large splash pad, walking track, dog park, and very clean public restroom facilities. The parking lot is a little tight. I wish I lived nearby as I would be here daily! This was a great spot to stop and get some wiggles out during a road trip.
My first time there was for the Highland Games in Antigonish. Incredible experience. Very well organized and enough shade 😎, thank goodness. I love the location, so close to the shops. I look forward to going back!
My son (11 months) loved this park so much. There are 4 infant swings, a play area for little ones, a play area for little older kids and a splash pad which is the star of show. My son loved playing around it. The parents have a set of bleachers under the shade of a tree they can sit in. Very nice park! Note that the parking area on Google maps is a soccer field across from the splash pad and children's play area.
Nice, clean and quiet park. Good place for a short walk outdoor. There's a playground for kids, soccer field and baseball field.
Beautiful park with a walking track, playground, splash pad picnic areas and large field. The washrooms were very clean.
Nice water splash park for kids - don't forget to bring changing clothes ! 😊 Also lots of other activity parts there. And to top it: there is a box with different toys and basic sports equipment for the little ones! 👍
GREAT park for kids, especially the under five crowd. There's equipment small enough for them to enjoy and an amazing splash pad!! Bring a picnic and a soccer ball, there are picnic tables and a huge field to enjoy! Will definitely go again :)

This place is an absolute gem! Famous artists from the Group of 7, Norval Morresseau, Alan Syliboy, Maud Lewis and other
I am a Canadian living in Belgium and wanted to share the beauty of the Bluenose with my in-laws. The folks at Down To Earth were exceptional at not only providing a beautiful print of the Bluenose but also ensuring that it made it across the Atlantic safely and quickly. Certainly one of the best galleries I have interacted with.
If you want the things that matter most preserved for a lifetime there is no better option then down to earth. They also have an insanely huge set of options for frames, mattes and glass and they provide professional advice the whole way along. In my case I also needed there financing plan which was also very reasonable. Last but not least they do all the tiny things that help keep your items in great shape, rubber bumpers to keep your item off the wall and Cooper wire for easy hanging.
What a gem - you don’t see many gallery’s like this. Picked up some beautiful originals, drooled over art I could only dream of owning, whilst meeting the lovely owners.
I really love this place. One of my favorites to stop in at if I'm walking downtown. You can never have too many pencils can you?
Very high quality experience, service and finished products. Highly recommend. So glad to have you in Antigonish

Great place to take children. You can see fish in all stages of growth. There are films about fish and the hatchery. Public washrooms. Benches outside. At feeding times, children are often allowed to help. Just a relaxing fun place to visit.
A really interesting stop. Totally unexpected. Spawning tanks and a friendly greeting by those operating the facility. We were very early in the season, but will return when the visitor center is open.
Great spot to drop in with the kids. They will often give you a bucket of food that you can feed to the fish. There is a visitor information center. You can check out the entire place in under an hour.
I would like to thank the gentleman who gave us a run down on how the hatchery worked and let my niece feed the fish. 😁
Great place for the kids to see how fish farming is done, from hatch to release.
