We did a day tour and had the best time! It was quite a drive to get to the launch area, but worth every minute. Our guide was knowledge and engaging. It was a beautiful day, a great paddle out to the sisters and an amazing lunch.
NovaShores Adventures helped me check off an item on my bucket list, and I am so grateful for that. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I did the 6 hour tour, and the guides were super knowledgeable and easy to talk with. The lunch that is included with the tour tasted so fantastic and was on at a beautiful beach with the tide going out. The scenery was breathtaking, and to hear some of the indigenous legends that the guides shared to the best of their knowledge was super interesting. I highly recommend NovaShores Adventures for any of your sea kayaking trips, and I will be back in the future. Maybe I will try an overnight trip next time
We had a fantastic time on the water today with our guide Damien. Sometimes websites offer pictures that aren’t exactly what the experience is like…but not Nova Shores. Every part of the experience lived up to expectations and hopes. The Three Sisters day tour was awesome! At the turnaround point, we stopped for a great hand-prepared meal (unfortunately we forgot to get the bread recipe :( ). We thoroughly enjoyed the trip today and it was certainly worth the drive. The pace of the adventure was great as well, no one was rushing us to finish so they could return for another group, it was totally at our collective own pace. Thank you for the fun outing on great equipment and with one-of-a-kind scenery
Our guides, Curtis & Damien, were friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable. The trip was a bit longer than anticipated (but that included my driving to the kayak pickup, then to the launch location). We learned a lot about the geological formations, we also saw an eagle. Our guides kept a good eye on our group and I felt very safe, especially being a first time kayaker. Lunch was provided and was delish. Our guides also made sure to take some nice pictures of us to remember our trip.
Excellent and well organized kayak tour! We did the 3 sisters tour and our guides were organized and professional. It was much more than just a boat tour. We had a wonderful farm to picnic blanket lunch of salad, homemade bread and fruit. Our guides provided education about the geology, indigenous folklore, seaweed education and much more. The shoreline was breathtaking with a new vista around every corner!
Breathtaking!! Very organized. Excellent guide. Such beauty. Lunch was a fresh salad, ingredients from garden and homemade goods. Highly recommended.
The kayaking tour was amazing! Our guide, Damian, was very knowledgeable, caring, and made the experience really enjoyable. The views were stunning, and the paddling along the coast was much easier than I expected. Lunch was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
If you are on the fence to book this- don't be! This experience was one of if not the highlight of our brief stay in Nova Scotia, and completely exceeded our expectations. My husband and I came during the woods ban and this was a perfect alternative. Curtis and Damien were beyond knowledgable, and we always felt safe, and comfortable within our group and our kayaks. A really solid tour, and happy we got to meet them. Special shout out to Hayley in the office who accommodated us when weather was not on our side, and the whole team for making sure we made our plane out of Nova Scotia on time! (We just did!) We are so grateful to everyone who shared in this experience, their knowledge and for allowing us to see The Three Sisters up close! Wishing much success in the future to the NovaShores team! Great experience, Great people!

If you’re looking for luxury, go somewhere else because you won’t appreciate the rustic simplicity and beauty of this place! I’ve never been able to unwind and relax, feel so in tune with nature, all while staying in a bare bone’s, clean and welcoming place. Yes, it’s a trek down the rocky road… yes, the views and experience are worth every bit of it. Park at the viewing lot and walk down.. it’s an experience! No, there is no WiFi or fancy accommodations- no, you won’t need either! We found so much to do on the property. Grab some snacks from the gas station (Advocate Irving) and enjoy the bare bones of this astonishing viewpoint and serene environment. The 1-star reviews clearly don’t appreciate simplicity, humor, or freedom of being a business owner & making your own decisions about your business. When Darcy cooks, the food is incredible- we had supper, lemon caper salmon & veg/chicken curry. Breakfast was French toast one morning and an eggs/bacon/toast breakfast the other. If you’re an adventurer looking for incredible accommodations at an incredible price, look no further. If you’re a customer looking for WiFi, 5-star accommodations, easy accessibility, I suggest you keep looking! 🙃
It is a very interesting spot. We went in October so everything was closed for the season.
Steep walk to the lighthouse and no WiFi (good cell signal though) are the only things you need to know up front. Darcy is very friendly (good chef too) and the views are spectacular. Unique experience and worth the stunning drive to get there. Thanks Darcy
Would have loved to try out this unique place, but no one responded to my emails or text, sent in April & May.
My husband and I just spent our 4th wedding anniversary here at the beautiful Cape D’Or Lighthouse. The views were spectacular. Our host Darcy was so kind and welcoming with a great sense of humour. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we had breakfast in the morning which was delicious. I would highly recommend this hidden gem.
It was a beautiful experience together with my son ,father and mother-in - laws witnessing the fascinating , breathtaking views around the place. The food is excellent and worthy of the price. The chef himself is very accommodating and we felt like we are in our own kitchen in Virginia, USA. I can recommend the place if you want to get away from civilization and enjoy your own peace.
We arrived too early for the start season. But from what we see, this place is spectacular. The drive here alone was absolutely wonderful. I wish I could say a definite review, but it certainly is a must do at some point. I would give it the full five star but I haven't stayed here.
This place is out of the world. It's a hidden gem and I'm so glad I booked it. Darcy is such an amazing guy and a great chef. Amazing hospitality, fantastic yummy food, and the most beautiful view. Darcy goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable and memorable. He is a storyteller at heart. You can see his passion in what he does. Make sure you are there before sunset to and enjoy it with a glass of wine. The beds were very comfortable. For everyone complaining about the trek down, it was well communicated in advance and Darcy even offers to haul your stuff down if you tell him in advance. We just took our night backpacks.. it's just a short trek down.

Did a 4 day, 3 night backpacking trip here, WOW! What an incredible place full of lush mossy forest, wonderful rocky beaches, and beautiful cliffy viewpoints. Highly recommend if you're into backpacking and in the area. The trails were tough, but very doable by my partner and I who are experienced backpackers. We camped in seal cove and refugee cove, which I can both highly recommend also. Great sunsets from seal cove and wonderful beach at refugee cove. If you're into walking, scenery, and quiet this is the place for you!
Such a gorgeous hike, though be warned there are some fun hills!
We knew Cape Chignecto was not a ‘walk in the park’. Being seniors with a dog, backwoods camping and trails rated ‘difficult’ are beyond us, but we drove over from our 5 islands pp to say we’d been there. To our delight, we walked on the main path to a beach, which was on our right. A beautiful beach where we could walk, paddle, and enjoy rock structures. A very helpful staff member in the visitor centre told us about the trails at Eatonville day use area, which was accessed from a different location. It took about 45 minutes to drive there over rough roads. We have a Ford 150 and are used to off roading to find great sights, so the track there was exciting and better than we are used to. I’m not sure if I’d want to drive a low to the ground front- wheel drive car, but the parking lot DID have a variety of vehicles when we arrived. The road was VERY well signed, considering how rough it was. At the trailhead, we had a choice between a short trail to the 3 sisters’ rock formation of a longer trail. It was very hot, and we had another destination planned for later, so we took the shorter walk. I’ve included the map and description of the 3 sisters trail. There were look outs with fantastic scenery. Very photogenic and historic. There were also considerately placed pit toilets that were very clean and well stocked. The trail was very well posted and groomed. It was such a pleasant surprise being able to really enjoy Cape Chignecto this much.
Excellent park, great staff & nice variety of trails.
This is a great hike! Outstanding amount of scenery for a trail of this length. The trail has a few distinct sections: KM 1 - 18 from red rocks to the end of the cape is a mix of pretty easy forest trail and a few (3 main ones) big climbs, roughly 150-200 m each climb. The climbs are not technically difficult, but pretty steep grade. Views are limited on this section compared to the next part, but refugee cove has a nice beach and is a good camp spot. If you start by going to refugee cove day 1, you will get two good climbs in; one at km 3, and one at Mill Brook. But it gets easier after the climb out of Mill Brook.. KM 18-33 - the best views are found here on the western coast of the trail. Impressive cliffs and tons of views. The trail here is a bit more technically difficult (roots/some water/a few steep areas) and doesn't have many "cruisy" sections. KM 33-36 - moderate terrain into eatonville KM 37 - 48 - the 11 km woods stretch says on the map it takes 6.5 hours... but it took about 2.5 hrs and had some easy stretches. Mostly forest, a nice creek at times. You can cut some off the trail by taking the beach from red rocks pretty well any time that isn't within an hour of high tide. Recommended. My total moving time per my GPS was 13 hrs, 40 min; this was at a consistent pace. It can definitely take much longer, or for some (like the runner I saw on the trail..) shorter. Not sure if I got lucky, but hardly any bugs in June was a nice surprise. I wore non-waterproof shoes and that was the right call for me. Some wet stuff but easy walk arounds so no soakers on this one! Really hard to get lost on this one. Possible I guess, but good signage and clear trail.
My friend and I hiked about 30km. I surprised myself as I am just getting into hiking more and more. Was it challenging? Yes, but not as bad as I was expecting. I loved that we were able to start at the beach, but we had to go through the woods when we were finishing as the tide was high. That put an extra 3km onto our hike. It was very well marked, and the path is not as "rooted" as what I thought it would be. We will be going back before the end of August. We just spent the day there, but you can camp and there is a cabin, I think about 10k into the hike.
Cape Chignecto is one of Nova scotia's best kept secrets. A wonderful backpacking trail that will challenge even the most seasoned hiker with steep elevation changes and at times challenging terrain. The campsites are overall very well maintained if a bit sparse. The full loop can be done by a fit aggressive hiker in 3 days and more comfortably in four depending on how long you hike for and how much time you like to spend in camp. Your hard effort will be rewarded with stunning ocean views, wonderful ecosystems, and two beautiful beaches at refugee and seal Cove. Please practice backpacking etiquette pack out all of your garbage and leave the trail in a better condition than you found it in order to protect this gem of an experience.
Great hike! The trail and campsites are well kept. It was muddy during our time, but there had been a few downpours. Would definitely recommend checking it out.

This is one of the best boat tours I have taken (and I've quite a few in various parts o the world). The tour takes you by zodiac out to the uninhabited island of Isle Haute in the Bay of Fundy. The scenery is spectacular (high cliffs, seals, and an eagle) and the captain's narrative of the history and lore of the island first rate. Safety is a prime concern and everyone is supplied with an immersion suit. We never felt like we were in any danger but the suit was appreciated when the spray periodically came and the cool winds of the Bay (even though it was summer) were felt. We drove out of our way to do the tour - it didn't disappoint. It's popular so make sure you book if you are going.

Love this place just to walk the endless supply of beach. I come here for the solitude and also for the seaglass of many colors. The view of the basin are mice and you have a clear view of "Spencer's island". I come here with my wife and we spend hours walking and collecting things from the beach. Also you get beautiful sunsets here. This is sanity and I could look at this all day long.
We visited this lighthouse recently on a tour around Nova Scotia and found the area to be very beautiful and popular. This is a real tourist destination as there is a very nice beach, Campground, paddle board, bike rentals and even wooden A Frame tent looking structures you can stay in right on the beach. There us also a loading ramp for boats next to the lighthouse and a Cafe nearby. All in all a very nice place to visit.
Beautiful lighthouse with a great view. Literally right on the water.
Quaint little lighthouse directly on the beach on the Bay of Fundy. Campground right next door. For a donation, you can enter the lighthouse and discover the town's shipbuilding and Loyalist heritage, and even climb the ladders to the lantern at the top! Lovely place for beachcombing when the tide is out. As always, be mindful of the world's highest tides when exploring the shoreline in this region.
