The Maritime Museum was a nice place to stop with young kids. The exhibits inside old schooner ships give an appreciation for the masterful ship building and for the great vessels that served the Saint Lawrence seaway for so many years. The exhibit is very beautiful and has some interactive parts. There are tables available for anyone planning a picnic on site. Recommendation: Baby carrier over stroller or let the younger kids walk and explore the ships.
This has to be one of the most amazing museums I’ve ever visited! The passion and pride of the local people, their culture, and the deep maritime history of the region shine through every exhibit. This isn’t your typical museum—there are indoor and outdoor sections, real boats you can board and explore, and immersive displays that let you truly feel what life was like at sea. The interactive videos and hands-on exhibits bring the story of the Saint Lawrence River and its vital role in trade to life. Every corner reflects the dedication of those who preserve this history. The grounds are immaculate, and every display is curated with care. Plan to spend 3–4 hours to truly enjoy it all. Special thanks to Claude at the store (and his sidekick Wilson) for adding a personal touch to a memorable Charlevoix experience!
We were not lucky enough to get in due to Easter Monday though we go around and took some pictures from outside. Still able to capture some beautiful memories on this sunny and beautiful day. So we didn't get the feeling of marine museum. Anyone making trip to this beautiful museum, make sure that you enter in and get the feeling of maritime.
What a great museum and experience. You can visit the site. There is so much to do. We rented a « escape game » backpack and it gave us a different insight into the place. What fun, I strongly suggest going alone, couple, with friends or family.
We visited this museum with my girlfriend's parents in 2023. We have a good souvenir of our time at musée maritime de Charlevoix. This photo was taken using my camera and I'm quite proud of it!
Very nice exhibition of the maritime way of life. Very cool to be able to visit all the decks of the ships!
Depends on why you are visiting... Great for adults and boat enthusiasts. This museum has lots of great displays and information. The large ships on display were great and a nice way to move around the property. We were on a very long car ride and this was a great place to stop and stretch our legs. They even had a little walking trail. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We visited with a 10 year old and 13 year old. The 13-year old was very bored and uninterested. Kids don't want to read all the information plaques or sit through the videos. But my 10-year old really enjoyed exploring all the ships on display. I would recommend this spot for adults, but if you have pre-teens and teens, you might want to drive past this location (unless they love boats).
One of the highlights of our trip to Quebec. So much love and care when into saving the history of past maritime shipping. This shipyard once built 120 schooners and other ships. This is a must see.

Charming paper museum with delightful artwork A good stop for kids to see how paper is made. Reasonably price original artwork.

(Translated by Google) It is more of a store than a museum. There is only a view of the production room as well as a few summary posters to explain how the paper is made. That said, the shop, particularly the artistic works, are very interesting to see.
(Translated by Google) Great welcome and interesting explanations. Another one of the too few activities that were open in May in the region. We really enjoyed this visit just for us. Very beautiful papers, yours to touch and feel. To buy for those who still write on this medium which is becoming too rare. The first establishment in the prestigious network of the Société des Économusée du Québec which promotes and highlights traditional crafts, this museum is worth seeing, like many others better in this solidarity and cultural chain. Finally, we could do a 15-day tour of Quebec with this central theme, without getting bored for a second and learning a lot. Good luck and long life to your activities.
