Wow! This place is awesome. The museum is well worth a stop, the highlight being the wonderful host, Terry. He is a real gem and has plenty of ‘whale tales’ and interesting information for anyone who’s willing to hang out for a bit. Entertaining and full of fun, Terry brings to mind your favorite school teacher from way back! Listen carefully, he might give you a pop quiz! 😄 Just another wonderful example of Newfoundland friendliness and hospitality. Triton is a cute little town and nearby Long Island completely worth a trip on the short ferry. Be sure to try Millie’s carrot cake at the Tea Room! Another ‘wow!’ to go alongside the whale museum and make it a fabulous day. You can always burn it off on the hike at the tip of the island…an eagle’s nest view of the beautiful surrounds.
While in the area and looking for stuff to check out on a rainy day we found this spot. We didn’t expect a whole lot but we were completely wrong. Upon arriving at the location we were greeter by Terry the exhibit educator. What an absolute fantastic person to chat with. Highly knowledgeable and very engaging. Only a small entry fee of $5 per adult and kids under 12 are free. Great exhibition with a full whale skeleton. There is also a small colouring station for kids.
Came here with my son and husband for Father's day and had such an informative time. Terry was friendly, amazing with our six year old, made our son feel important. Answered all of our questions, and had a whale of a time! Thank you Terry, we tell everyone we see to go visit you!
The place is small but has great information about the sperm whales. The girl who provided the tour was super nice and once she started explaining I understood why it is small and it all made sense. It is a nice 30 minute stop on your way to triton or Brighton.
Terry is so friendly and has so much great information about the whales. It's worth stopping in for a visit. And only $5
Thank you to Terry for the amazing information you gave us on our visit to the Museum. We really enjoy our visit! A good 5$ investment on our whales’s knowledge. Newfoundland is terrific!
This place is all about Dale (The Whale), and Terry, and Terry is the real star. A former teacher, Terry is outgoing and very knowledgeable. We very much enjoyed our visit and learned a lot. I know you read these occasionally, Terry. I, the guy in the camo cargo kilt, want to say hi and thank you for a well spent afternoon learning about Dale and making a new friend. Cheers!
A highlight of our Newfoundland visit. Terry is a very informed, enjoyable and interactive communicator. He brought me down into the ocean with the whales, locating the giant squid and finally eating them. But that's not the end! The magical creation of amber gris. What a gift! Thank you Terry. I learned more than any documentary.
