Absolutely breathtaking. Golden Gate Highlands is a place where time slows down and the mountains glow gold at sunset. The dramatic sandstone cliffs, wide-open grasslands, and peaceful trails make this one of South Africa’s most underrated parks. Don’t miss the Brandwag Sentinel hike and the quiet drive through the valley.
We stayed at the Noord Brabant House which is a stand alone house in Sanparks. It is a very old house and the amenities are extremely basic. The house need to be updated as there is not enough seating for a family of 6, but a total of six beds. It is a very tranquil place and the view is unbelievable! The baboons play in the tree at the back of the house so beware and close everything. We woke up one morning with the Zebra's grazing a few metres from the house.
It's a beautiful place! A must-see. Buy a permit so you can take the loops. There are two of them, and the scenery and lookout points are worth way more than the R70 per person. The roads are in good condition. The park is well-maintained. The picnic site has toilets, but we didn't stop there, so I can't comment on their condition. We saw zebras, eland, wildebeest and baboons. The main road is fairly busy because it's a through-road. That makes it tricky to stop and enjoy the views. That's why I strongly recommend buying the permits to drive on the loops. And don't cheat and drive there without paying. Do the right thing. We found a waterfall with a gorgeous pool. Now I have to go back in summer so I can swim in it.
Very lovely accommodation, friendly staff. This is for outdoor lovers. I enjoyed the Brandwag hiking trail. Staff is very helpful.
The Golden Gate Highlands Park and Dino World were an amazing experience — fun, educational, and full of beautiful scenery. Dino World offers fascinating insights into the past of the dinosaurs. I’ll definitely be going back to explore more and do some hiking!
Phenomenal mountain range. Arguably better than the Drakensberg. Lush vegetation, animals and awesome hikes. The views and drive through is breathtaking. Definitely needs to be visited at least once. I’ve been going every year. Incredible every time
A beautiful area surrounded by mountains. A great camping place. We visited the dinosaur museum which is literally across the road. And had some great coffee at Phoka cafe. The whole place is filled with so much culture and history. Such a great place to vacation with the whole family
Cant believe i waited so many years to go see the golden gate highlands national park. What I really enjoyed were the 2 loops that can be driven up into the mountain on nicely tarred road. Gets you high enough to experience the upper area and majestic land scape without having to do a hard hike.

This hidden gem, tucked behind the main brewery restaurant with the best view, is the best spot to be. If you can, grab a seat outside for a more relaxed experience. It’s a charming extension of the bustling front restaurant, offering a quieter and more enjoyable setting.
Yummy beer and gin tasting. Could not decide what to drink after the tasters, everything was superb. Food well prepared and reasonably priced. Service a bit slow, even though it was not busy. Enjoyed the outside seating, lovely autumn day. We arrived quite early , before 10h00 and it was still very quiet.
Quite a nice location however the staff often did not get the beers right when explaining. Gin tasting was average. Enjoyed the macaroni and cheese balls.
Must stop when in Clarens . I’m not one for beer but the tastings are a fun to do . The Blonde was actually very good . But wow the food was just exceptional, did not expect it to be as good as it was . If we were here longer we would certainly have been back ! Service was good too
Popped in for a light lunch and the gin tasting. The food was made fresh, the portions were big and it was super tasty. The gin tasting was affordable and a lovely introduction to the gins they have on tap. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our meal.
My second visit to this amazing brewery and I will not stop talking about it for a long time!! Awesome selection of craft beers Clarens Red is a firm favourite!! Brought back some Red Ale to prolong the enjoyment
My family and I visited here last week for an early dinner. Their food was exceptional. Great service and good size portion of food. we ordered two kids meals and 2 adult meals... all were very tasty.
Great service, good and drinks! The vibes are great, especially if you can get a table with a view.

Piece no 11, we almost feel like family, great to see you again this weekend Herman. T-What a piece of art, thank you
Woooooow! What a fine establishment! Great art, great manager, great products. Very crafty and humorous store with great ideas for gifts. The art by Tobias is breathtaking with colour and details. We bought shirts, rings, armbands, stickers and products with movie/tv series references. A must see when visiting Clarens.
I’m on painting no. 5 and I still can’t get enough! Really stunning, we are such fans!

Worth it. Love Clarens and all the shops and galleries are wow
Its a beautiful store. Its probably a place for tourists to pick up some goodies and Souvenirs. But as a local, I felt the shop items were overpriced even compared to the other stores along the street. The bubble tea was something the kids enjoyed.
This store is really fun to be inside. Tons of stuffs to choose from like toys for kids, jams, pickles, biscuits, dishes, etc. For those who prefer liquor, there's something for everyone. The store has a lot of old artefacts that will take you back in time. Stunning views from the back of this store. There is also a place to sit and have your tea and snacks.
What an wonderful place. Lived to see the Wilson toffees that I remember from my childhood. With delicious home made products. Something to discover around each new corner. A absolute must visit when in Clarens.
THE BEST ART GALLERY (Painting) in Clarens. Beautiful paintings with variety of styles ,techniques ,colour and the message imbeded in them.Huge sizes that would complement Big houses, foyers and walkways. Not allowed to take pictures inside.
Great little gallery with gorgeous art. A must visit when in Clarens.
Visited today. In my opinion, this is the best art gallery in Clarens. You must come here and see the art when staying in Clarens. It’s worth the time!

The best Bronze sculptures by the best artists in the country .Wines dating back to 90,s in a controlled temperature room.the display of art is in such a way that you get lost in art and some illusion art.Great place to visit
Visited this art and wine gallery next to the clarens center. It was very spacious and has a very good collection of art and wine. Must visit if you are an art lover. Take time and explore
Rude owner/management. Made us feel uncomfortable. Felt racially motivated. Do not recommend. Buy your art and wine elsewhere.
Very classy place & awesome food 🥘 love ❤️ to spend time there...
Exquisite art to view and to get lost in. A variety of wine products to choose from.
OK art. Awesome wine tasting.
Interesting but art not affordable to average person

Had 2 lovely nights here. Sarah was a great host. More than enough animals for kids; horses that like music, a cat like a caracal, a Weimaraner named Kudu and a sheep that thinks she is a dog! Just don't take the Google recommended turn if approaching from Fouriesburg
Wonderful breakaway... the silence truly makes you rest. Cave painting walk is definitely worth it!
Had such an amazing time, the hosts (Sarah and Simon) were a pleasure to deal with so friendly. The views were out of this world, keep up the amazing work
A tranquil and highly picturesque spot. We've visited twice to see the cave paintings and to take a stroll in the mountains. A great place to lose yourself for an afternoon.
A peaceful and serene walk to see the amazing rock paintings. No litter and wonderfully kept. Recommend!
Loveeed our time there. Most amazing views and routes for hiking.
I enjoyed our night here in a relaxed country setting.

It was a peaceful experience and beautiful artworks. And you get to play the piano 🎹.
Brilliant creative art, jugglers, dancers and modern and all brilliantly executed and curated. Simon, Lynne and daughter Nella are all represented in this long standing feature of Clarens
Very nice very friendly. Unfortunately expensive but everything is these days. They had some good art.
I absolutely love the feeling the place gives off, and how you can see the different styles with the different artists
Person at the sales desk does not look like he wants to sell any of the lovely art on show. Shocking service.
Amazing art work. A must visit when you go to Clarens!
Interesting art work. Well worth a visit.

Tina was so fantastic and friendly. My husband and I had a 1 day Art Retreat with Tina. It was fantastic. We were made to feel right at home, and she helped us with the painting and art lesson in great detail. We left feeling like one of her long lost friends. I'd definitely recommend her.
Tina is very nice! We really enjoyed spending time with her! In addition, her gallery is very unique, even in the landscape of Clarens.
A delightfully friendly artist with a gallery of assorted art to browse, worth visiting, just to see her smile!
