What an amazing B&B!!!! The room we stayed in was nice, with all the amenities you want. Our private balcony had amazing views and was great place to have an evening drink and relax. The pool and hot tub were clean and fun to enjoy and take in the stunning views of the island and great to watch monkeys and birds from. Breakfast was delightful! Plenty of options to choose from. It’s worth noting that it’s mostly European type breakfast, which we enjoyed! Tess and Hugh have created an amazing B&B and we can’t wait to return!!!
My wife and I just got home last night from a true week in Paradise! From being on the highest point on the island with incredible views to all of Tess’s little touches that make it almost feel like home while being on vacation, this is fantastic place to stay. We ended up only going to Orient Beach twice because we found ourselves not wanting to leave the property. I would recommend any of the rooms but the Sunset Terrace was incredible. We are already working on dates for next February. We loved the Boutique feel of just 6 to 8 rooms and the clothing optional was handled perfectly by Hugh and Tess. As a fellow guest said “ it just doesn’t get any better than laying out naked on the side of a mountain and being able to see all that St. Martin has to offer”. I can’t strongly recommend it enough! Give Hugh and Tess an opportunity to share Paradise with you! N&V from Oklahoma
Amazing experience especially at night overlooking the island. They also have access to food delivery service that goes up the mountain if you want to dine in and use the pool at dinner time.
This lodging far exceeded my husband and my expectations. If you can get past the dirt road trek up to the hotel (highly recommend a capable suv), you will be absolutely stunned by both the beautiful views and genuine hospitality. We were so pleased to have Naty around when the owners were off and then also benefitted greatly from lovely conversations with the owners when they returned. Their recommendations were completely on par with my husband/ my taste. We much preferred the French side of the island which focused on gastronomic specialties, but we wouldn't have found many of those treasures without this hotel's guidebook. Their pool was the perfect size for me, the laid-back body positive atmosphere was grand, and I thought our continental breakfast was plentiful (homemade yogurt was a plus). Tess and Hugh were also expedient with responses and quite gracious. We very much enjoyed our happy hour wines by the pool and many nights in the hot tub. First week of April was absolutely perfect, weather wise. Even if we had the misfortune to stay inside, I love the peaceful isolation of this hotel enough that I would've relaxed nonetheless. **Please be mindful that they do have hikes nearby but it would be difficult for differently-abled persons. I think that pertains to much of the island, however, as many activities are limited just by virtue of their locations and less the willingness to accommodate. I had seen this elsewhere but thought I could include it, particularly for geriatric population looking to vacation abroad*. As a lover of travel with the perspective that there's always more to see, I have never wanted to return to a hotel abroad save for this place.
My husband and I came to stay for a week in mid November. We had such a great time and a large part of that is thanks to the hospitality that Tess and Hugh showed us! Their beautiful hotel is convenient to everything while still feeling off the beaten path. If you are looking for a relaxing, stunning, and comfortable place there is no other place like this. The breakfast every day was perfect, the room was very comfortable and the surroundings were so lush and peaceful. The sunset drinks were also a lot of fun! We look forward to making it back here.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our trip and had the most amazing time! The property is beautiful and Tess and Hugh are the best hosts. They organized a couples massage and private yoga class for us and had endless recommendations for things to do and restaurants to try. We also really enjoyed the daily happy hours and getting to meet other guests. Our time here was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, I only wish we had stayed longer!
There is something magical about this place. It sits above the hustle and bustle of St. Martin below and you can watch the cruise ships and yachts sail around from the expansive view of Simpson Bay. The room was tastefully decorated with thoughtful touches throughout. Tess and Hugh are wonderful and welcoming. They’ve created a safe and inclusive space where all are welcome including lgbtq+ couples which can be hard to find in the Caribbean. We appreciate the clothing optional pool and jacuzzi as well. Don’t forget to take note of their dining recommendations in the guide book. Our favorite part of our trip was taking in the view while either enjoying the delicious French breakfast or sipping wine and watching the sunset while chatting with the other guests. Looking forward to our return trip!
This place is the best spot on the island. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the view from the terrace is magnificient. It is secluded and intimate yet not far at all from restaurants/cafes/beaches etc. The rooms are all stunning. Tess & Hugh are amazing hosts and nothing is too much for them. 10/10 would come back again!

My husband and I are visiting from NY and took a few lessons with Oliver, as well as rented some court time to play with each other. The facility is great, and Oliver is a Really great pro! We have been playing for many years and taken many lessons over the years, but Oliver’s advice was more helpful than many pros we’ve worked with over the last 30 years. He’s also a really nice person and so much fun. We love coming here and hope to be back next year!
My only regret is not being able to take more than 1 lesson with Oliver during my stay in St Martin! Oliver is a fantastic coach, that focuses on improving your technique in a way that have never seen other instructors do before! He gave me several simple tips to improve my backhand and I could already see visible improvement throughout the lesson. Nice facility, conveniently located between grand case and orient bay. Perfect place to practice and improve your tennis while enjoying St Martin. Thanks Oliver!
Had an amazing lesson with Oliver. Even as beginners, he is patience and very specific with his lesson. Me and my partner had an amazing experience and we would come back here the next day if we had more time on the island! If you're on the fence, this is the best place to go for lessons or to rent a court! Thank you so much for an amazing experience!
We loved our time at American Tennis Academy! We rented a court for an hour but found ourselves hanging out with Oliver and other members for hours. This place has made our trip truly memorable. If you love tennis and tennis people, American Tennis Academy will be your tennis family away from home. Highly recommend! And we will be back!!
We had the best time doing a lesson with Oliver. Great instruction and recommendations for tennis rackets and even sent us to an amazing restaurant in Grand Case, Bistro Caribes. Thanks, Oliver. See you next time!
Highly recommend!!! Oliver is such a talented trainer. We’ve taken several lessons back him in the US but Oliver is the most passionate tennis instructor we've had, and focuses on perfecting technique before anything else. He challenges us and is wonderful with our kids. My kids got more out a few lessons with Oliver then they do in a year of lessons back home. We come to saint martens often and from now on will be scheduling our lessons with Oliver everytime we are here. Thank you so much Oliver. Look forward to seeing you during our next trip here.🥰🎾
American Tennis Academy is a great facility if you are looking for coaching to advance your game. Coaching is available for adults and children. The facility itself is top notch with beautiful courts which can be rented. Oliver is an expert in “teaching” the mechanics of tennis. He started with the basics, reviewed my grip, discussed opening up early and weight transfer during swings, etc. I also got great advice on racquets. I highly recommend Oliver of the American Tennis Academy to anyone looking to improve their game.
True hidden gem here in St. Martin. Very high quality tennis facility, great courts, lights, fencing plus excellent tennis teaching. Oliver managed in 5 lessons to take my confused forehand into a simple back to basics forehand which I feel good about. Oliver had the patience and perseverance to help me change the fundamentals of my tennis to which I am very grateful. It was a pleasure to meet him and enjoy the devotion and technical expertise he brings. Thank you Oliver!

A must visit while here are the container food stalls that serve a variety of well priced local cuisine.
Nice for shopping, good restaurants and beautiful view of the bay. By the way. This pictures were taken early morning, shops open at 10: 00
Cozy and chic place, with shops a nice restaurant.
Went to Big Sip restaurant. Friendly locally owned eatery. Loved the plaintain chips decorating the seasoned mash potatoes.
Hurricane has decimated this and it unfortunately hasn’t recovered as of yet. Shame as it used to be nice, but hey, can’t help the weather.
After Irma? Some stores staring to open, and restaurants. Is getting better
Lots of cafes and restaurants all around this marina, and pricey but nice quality clothing stores.
Got hit by Irma really hard. Lots to do to gain former beauty back.

This hidden gem was a highlight of our trip. We spent a long time just browsing the art with mini art lessons along the way from the owner. There is beautiful art in every price range, some local but a lot from Europe and especially French artists. It was so fun browsing and seeing what caught our attention. We left with 4 originals and a print for under $200.
My husband and I loved the artwork here. The prices are amazing if you are looking to buy some artwork from local artists. The lady that owns the gallery is very nice and has been in the area for about 30 years. Definitely worth going to even if it’s just to look!
Classic / older art gallery. Pretty cool. Lots of Minguet prints for sale, as well as orher local artist originals.
I came in to find a bathroom and left with beautiful, meaningful artwork. The owner was very kind, and she knew a lot about the art she was selling. The inside is beautiful as well, being nicely maintained and decorated. This is a lovely shop with wonderful work. I 100% suggest this place if you would like some artwork!
Minguet Art Gallery is an absolute delight. With an assortment of price ranges going from custom made post cards and lithographs all the way up to huge oil paintings (all of which are done by the owner, her father, and another local artist) we ended up leaving with a variety of awesome art for a very good price and now have very beautiful ways of remembering Sint Maarten as a whole as well as specifically Oyster Bay, Philipsburg, and Great Bay which will now be displayed prominently on the walls and shelves of our home.
Great art store, the paintings are awesome & the owner is wonderful! If you like art you HAVE to stop by! Thanks for your wonderful hospitality!!💚
Beautiful gallery, lovely pieces, friendly and knowledgeable owner. Minguet's work is beautiful. Wide range of prices, very accessible. Some of the most gorgeous frames I've ever seen. Well worth a visit
Great selections and chance for a bargain. Have bought from then in the past, very happy.

I was searching for something beautiful to take home that was of the island and made by people of the island. This peaceful gallery shop had exactly what I was looking for. I had a lovely chat with the owner and a staff member who shared information about the local artists and their many challenges - from extreme weather events and supply issues/costs to a move by the general public toward cheaper and mass produced goods. The owner is a true champion of local artisans. If you're reading this, I encourage you to make time to visit The Art Box Gallery in Simpson Bay and purchase something handcrafted on the island. There is something there for every taste and budget. There are lovely gifts for you or your friends and family. And, the serene atmosphere will let you catch your breath for a moment before heading back out into traffic.
This is a fantastic gallery and shop, with a marvelous selection of work, a great vibe, and super helpful staff. We went a couple of times, purchasing some beautiful and affordable earrings and a more expensive piece of art. Everything seemed locally created, and the variety of prices make it a great place to fall in love with all kinds of things. Zdenka was wonderful to talk with, and everyone was terrific in our interactions.
This review is long overdue. My friend I went to the shop last year and we loved it!!! So many great artists and beautiful work! Zdenka is so helpful and knowledgeable. She took the time to educate me on several pieces of artwork I was considering. In the end I bought several original paintings. Zdenka’s bright and sunny personality made the experience so pleasant. Highly recommend going to this shop for a unique piece of St. Maarten. Looking forward to my visit there this year!
The Art Box is fantastic - with an excellent collection of interesting artwork at reasonable prices. Zdenka and her staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. Highly recommended.
We were looking for indigenous art which we try to buy when we travel Art Box Gallery turned out to be just what we were looking for. Janet was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.. My wife purchased a beautiful tree frog sculpted by a local art teacher, Annemieke. We will display in our living room. I purchased a beautiful cultured pearl necklace made by the gallery owner, Zdenka , the gallery owner. We will likely be back tomorrow!
What a special place! I stopped by last year during a break on an island bus tour and was sad I didn't have more time to look around. There are so many lovely pieces of art! Paintings, hanging metal art, clay sculptures, jewelry...they have a lot to see. I came to Sint Maarten again this year and made it a point to visit again. It was hard to choose what I would take home, but I decided on this cute fish. The sales woman was even nice enough to tell me about the artist and how it was made. I can't wait to come back!
Zdenka made my day ! I walked in a little lost, attracted by the collect of flip-flops art. Everything in the gallery is beautiful and Zdenka gave me amazing recommendation to make sure I had a great afternoon. I went back and was able to enjoy her art ! Thank you Zdenka, what a beautiful encounter !
Great place to look & buy local & Caribbean art, jewelry & unique locally crafted gifts.
