Surprisingly good zoo for a small Caribbean island. The price is high (€17.50/pp), but it is larger than it looks from the road. Don't expect any large mammals, but they do have two large cats (a black jaguar--I've never seen one before ever--and a puma/cougar) and a variety of monkeys. The grounds are interesting as well, since it is the ruins of a former sugar mill and rum distillery. Some beautiful flowers on the grounds as well. Takes about an hour and a half to two hours to walk through. You can walk here from St. Pierre, but there are some spots where there is little room to walk along the highway. Take the second road in from the beach (not the first one as suggested by Google Maps) for a better/wider sidewalk. Click Helpful below if this review has been of help to you.
Very beautiful zoo. Lots of animals - jaguars, flamingos, crocodiles, parrots etc. However, the cages are way too small for this amount of animals. Not much freedom for them. Otherwise I enjoyed my visit . However, you can buy a ticket for Jardin de Balata and the Zoo just for 2eur difference. This was not mentioned!
Amazing! It is quite large. Almost 1 hr to complete. The map is very handy. follow it! Staff is friendly. Ask for the ticket that allows you to visit both jardin de balata and the zoo.
Wonderful spot to enjoy the exotic atmosphere of the island and to spend time with the kids.
Great little zoo in the ruins of an old rum distillery. Entrance fee is 17,5 euros. They have signs in French and English. Cool little exhibit on pirates at the end as well.
A great place to take the kids when visiting Martinique ! The zoo is well maintained…
The zoo is an excellent attraction for families in the area. The grounds, wow, the park is located in a tight Valley and they worked there enclosures within the ruins of Saint Pierre. There is a wide variety of animals, but become they a more free to roam in larger enclosures they can be difficult to see sometimes. But honestly the most impressive thing is the landscaping. Incredible. Worth to the visit!
What a great zoo, was surprised by the amount of different animals actually on show , it's set in beautiful landscape , it reminds me of Jurassic park and you half expected a t rex to come bursting through the rainforest , it was a organised trip while on a cruise , just wish I could have stayed longer

Great location on the beach, comfortable loungers, and plenty of animals around, which was amazing. Beautiful view of the sunset. The service was slow, not very friendly, and didn’t speak English, but it’s still worth it.
One of the few places on the island I had the chance to have real coffee. I enjoyed that one a lot. Also a super friendly waitress that helped me out with a cigarette. Merci beaucoup for that! Sitting at the beach comes with a great vibe. Although sometimes some chicken might run around the table. Definitely worth a visit.
Good ambience but food not very good, overpriced prawns and fries from frozen packets. Great views and seating
Really nice atmosphere on a Saturday night, concert by a local band. Really nice music, nice food. Right ok the beach. Recommend
Best place to enjoy a perfect Martinique sunset over some cold drinks at the beach! Service was exceptional! Our waitress was very friendly. Drinks arrived quickly at our tables. For food we only tried the fried sweet potato appetizer. It was delicious!
Lovely place for food and drink while watching the sunset.
Great virgin mojito and despojito! Food was great- whole tuna and salad for me/ prawns and shrimp with fries and salad for my husband- right on the beach. We ate around 2 pm after a hike and still serving food. Parking right there. Has clean bathrooms and a volley ball court next door. Enjoyed our delicious meal!
One of my favorite places in Martinique mostly to get drinks in the afternoon or at sunset. Reggae music played all day long gives it a very Caribbean irie style vibes and the beach is just gorgeous. They have beds in front of the ocean, little living rooms on the sand (call ahead to reserve a spot), or tables on the deck by the bar which are protected from possible rain. A must do if you're in the North on the Caribbean side!

In the top 3 of the dive shop I did, amazing sites, amazing equipment and amazing peoples. You are the bests guys. We can't wait to see your new boat. Thank you ! The French Canadian Team ❤️
We had a fantastic time diving with DIAJ. We dove both the southern and northern ends of their advertised sites over our 4 days of diving. Their 100% solar dive boat was quiet and spacious. So nice to avoid the sounds and smells of a typical gas boat engine. We supplied our own gear however the small shop seems adequately filled with rental equipment. All dives were at least 60 minutes. Olivier our captain and dive master was professional and extremely welcoming. If you are lucky you might get to experience his homemade papaya bread. It rivalled the diving which says a lot. Thanks for a great week DIAJ. K&R
I can recommend this diving school 100%! Olivier and Christoph are very friendly, relaxed and experienced. We dived to an artificial reef that developped on parts of old ship wracks and it was very beautiful. Lot's of colours and different fish. Haven't seen something like that in the south of the island. Try it out!
Christoph was great, very relaxed dive and his english is good! The google maps location is not precise, you have to look on the other side of the road.
(Translated by Google) Honestly the best!!! The instructors are super nice and understanding, they know how to put you at ease and don't rush you in any way. Listening and caring. The diving day was great, I was able to do my baptism which went very well. The boat is entirely autonomous and ecological, solar panels for the engines and compressor for the bottles. The material is high quality and recent. In short, whether amateur or experienced, you are in good hands and will be dealing with real professionals who do this with passion. I would return with great pleasure if the opportunity arises.

Excellent visit. The lady at the reception desk gave us a fantastic resume of Gauguin and the context of his visit to Martinique and it influence on him as a painter. Many thanks
Easy to find the place, signs show the way to the entrance. There was a warm welcome, the staff is very nice! Very informative, entertaining for the children as well (VR, digital games).
The woman working there made us feel so welcome. She introduced us to the world of Gauging. Merci
I reccomend this place, very nice exhibition with explanation of Gaugin's life in Martiniq
Nicely done, good interpretations and explanations.
Beeing there yesterday afternoon..was closed :d
It is a small museum, but full of interesting facts and stories. I've never knew about Gaugin's stay in Martinique, but obviously there was a big influence in his art. The sketches, the stories behind are pretty well organized. I found the building itself a little weirdly chosen for an impresionist, but well.. There is a parking at the place, just you have to leave the main street and drive below the bridge. Google location drove us to a residential complex, but the museum is rather below, across the beach.
(Translated by Google) A wonderful experience at the Gauguin Interpretation Center! The welcome was excellent: the woman at the entrance captured our attention from the start with clear and fascinating explanations about Gauguin's life and work. This really piqued our curiosity before we explored the exhibition at our own pace. The exhibition, although relatively short, is rich, colorful, and very well thought-out. We left with lots of new insights. A pleasant, informative, and accessible visit. I highly recommend it! 🌺

(Translated by Google) The Anse Marigot viewpoint is located on the northwest coast of Martinique, in the commune of Carbet. Perched at approximately 150 meters above sea level, it offers a spectacular panorama of the Caribbean Sea, the green cliffs and the wild coastline of this region. This natural lookout is a must-see stop for those taking the road from Saint-Pierre to Carbet, offering breathtaking views of the bay and sometimes, on clear days, of the neighboring island of Dominica. Less known than certain other viewpoints on the island, Anse Marigot remains a popular place for photography enthusiasts and hikers in search of preserved landscapes. Its relative discretion allows it to be less crowded than other tourist sites, guaranteeing a peaceful atmosphere and a privileged moment of contemplation. Access to the viewpoint is via a small steep road, but the effort is largely rewarded by the beauty of the panorama. It is a perfect place to admire a sunset or simply enjoy a moment of calm facing the immensity of the ocean. An ideal stop for those who want to discover Martinique from a more authentic and wild angle.
