Matthew was a patient guide having to explain to some of the group in French and then us in English which we appreciated. I was nervous about trying stand up paddling for the first time but Matthew is a great teacher. Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet in, put on lots of sunscreen and bug spray before you leave as once on the water you shouldn’t carry anything. A sunglasses string thing for your neck would have been a good idea. We wore our water shoes but most went barefoot.

I really strongly recommend the SUP tour with Matt. He takes you on a beautiful route through the mangroves and is very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora in Guadeloupe. He speaks English perfectly, which is a great plus for any non-French travellers like us 😊

We did the beginner Babin Beach excursion with Mat, which was nice. He told us things to bring before the excursion (bug spray, sunscreen etc) and arrived on time and gave us lots of interesting information about the area we were paddling in. We saw some sea sponges, jellyfish and also a stingray when we were paddling up to the beach where we took a break. He had us beginners in mind by taking the time to explain step-by-step how to do SUP properly and throughout the excursion, he would give us pointers on how to do it better and check up on the group. It was nice that he also took photos for us. Thanks to Mat and his information, we made the most of the excursion by staying at Plage Babin afterwards and taking advantage of the therapeutic clay mud from the bottom of the water and having a nice spa day after the SUP. The only thing is that my husband's paddle's length adjusting mecanism was faulty and so he almost lost a part of his paddle in the water. Mat knew about it and is expecting to fix the problem.
