Spectacular waterfall!!! WARNING ⚠️ The truck ride back is crazy! We waited over an hour for the driver to take us back to the top of the hike. Expect a crazy long wait. Even so, it is very worth it!
Beautiful area, worth the hike. The guy at the gate up top was a total jerk, he made the whole experience stressful. Didn't explain anything, just told us we couldn't enter. It's like the community forces people to go on a horseback tour if you want to enter.
Nice hike down a stone road lined with cabins. Downhill to get to the waterfall then back up to return. Your experience at the falls would likely depend on the amount of people that are also there. It is possible to climb behind the water.
Nice hike and falls, I do recommend visiting this part of Mexico in the rainy season because everything is green. Note they do charge an entrance fee (40 pesos per person) and if you want a ride (on their trucks) or horses that is separate. For the horses it was 125 pesos per hour. For the truck it was 40 pesos to go down and another 40 pesos to come back up
The walk is long with lots of up and down. The entry fee is 30 pesos, but consider paying an extra 20 per person for the ride down to the cascada - fountain. You will still have to earn quite a bit and down the side of a mountain to the actual falls. Same thing with horses, except that the horse ride is 250 pesos pet person. There are washrooms at the bottom before you go down to the falls but no water; so carry yours with you.
Walking instructions from Mazamitla: I'm writing this because if you're only looking on Google maps, it's legit confusing as to how you even get to the waterfall. You have to walk to where it shows Los Cazos on Google. There's a gate there into Los Cazos, as it's private residences/cabanas. On the lefthand side of the gate, there's a foot path and you walk along that, there's a small window to pay 30 pesos for entry. After that, the signs within Los Cazos are easy to follow to reach the waterfall. Note: pay close attention to the route. There are quite a few streets in the subdivision, and a lot of turns are kind of similar looking. So it's easy enough to find your way in, but on the way out I took a wrong turn. The hike is great from town. It wasn't what I expected, as the majority is walking along cobblestone streets vs. a forest path. However the cabanas in Los Cazos are great! All of them. They're pretty much full blown houses vs. cabanas, but each one is unique and is in a lovely setting. I went on a Wed morning in mid-February. I sat at the waterfall by myself for an hour. Secret: want an actual hike through the forest? At the bottom of the stairs of the waterfall, to the left, there's a path that goes along the river. You have to hop the fence. It's well worth it. It goes along the river for a little ways, then it climbs. And climbs. And climbs. But where it takes you is outstanding. You end up on a road, and at the top there are a bunch of other roads (that look like they haven't been used in years) and trails and a sign that said Bison Eco Park. I had no idea where to go from there, so I laid on a bed of pine needles in the forest for a bit and snacked and chilled, then went back to the bottom of the waterfall again. Was worth it. I have zero doubt that if I had followed the proper trail/road at the top that I would have popped out at a main road. But, I was fine with what I did and the route I took. When people say it's uphill on the way back... it's uphill on the way back. From the base of the waterfall to Centro Mazamitla, it's steadily uphill besides one small downhill part. Not difficult, but I was pooped by the end and chilled in the main square for a bit.
Beautiful place to drive with atv's beautiful scenery

Best to travel during the day. Great place to spend just the day for lunch and a couple of beers. June 2023
Beautiful Parroquia. The beauty of Mazamitla!
Beautiful well maintained place to walk, shop, and eat. The only down side is the amount of loud motos and four wheelers zooming by as it breaks up the serenity...But that is everywhere in the city.
Beautiful place to spend the weekend with your friends or family. There are plenty of local shops and restaurants nearby. The prices are good and the prices people are so lovely and friendly. Mexico is really a great country to visit only one thing that need to take care of is the environment. Come on many churches to worship God and when you are out you make a mess by leaving your bin on the ground.
Gorgeous area so much to see and eat
Beautiful place for the weekend lost of local shops and farmers market

Food, food, food! If you looking for authentic tasty great Mexican food at a inexpensive price, this is the spot! Also meats for your cook out while you are staying in town!
Upstairs are the food "restaurants", downstairs are a few vendors of fruits and knick-knack, all overpriced. Tasteless food (quesadillas con pollo had no chicken, and no flavor) is what I got here, although I could see a lot of happy customers. I guess our palates are very different.
Great place to get fruits and vegetables. Upstairs is the food court. We bought from two little restaurants and food was pretty good.
Delicious traditional food and lots of souvenirs
Awesome market where you can get all your fruits, veggies, and meats that you might need or want. The top level has amazing taco shops and other local foods as well
We love mercados good food AND reasonably priced... We had 1 breakfast and 1 lunch here.
Food upstairs was amazing, come to “Birrieria Don David”! I ate a ham torta and a orange and carrot juice!
Good food on your floor, inexpensive.

Beautiful place, mountain view, hills hiking etc...
Hey one of the most dangerous experiences ever! The ride for 1 hour to the waterfalls costed $2500 MXN plus the $90MXN to access to the waterfalls (which I think it's This tour is mainly guided by kids and teens, family and friends that work for this "tour service". They offered different services. Plus if you want to take the ride you should sign a non responsive letter you give them your ID if you refuse to do it. There's no option to receive a refund. Unfortunately we didn't find another tour service after one hour there are other tour services that offer you more accessible tours, they cost less than the half price up to $400MXN for 2 people and give you a more complete experience of the place. I suggest you to first arrive to the place and then decide whether this is what you want or you can choose a more secure experience. For tourists this is way expensive. And it doesn't worth the price. This was an unfortunately experience. For you own safe and security please choose wisely first. The road is dangerous, here I attached the pictures of the kid that was our tourist guide, his motorbike was broken in our way back he wanted us to wait for help when we were going back and this made us a bit more mad because the info was not clear from the begging. But it's up to you guys. I don't recommend this tour service there are more options go around the center you'll find more conscious and nice people who think of your experience and want you to come back!
I'm a gringo whose Spanish isn't yet fluent. If that describes you too, these tours are NOT meant for us... it was probably my fault: I communicated to them via WhatsApp in Spanish out of courtesy for them, so they maybe assumed I was Mexican. 1. The tour is presented only in Spanish. Reasonable. 2. But they cancelled the tour two times -- I booked a night tour on Weds, but they didn't have enough people so they postponed it to Thursday. I showed up Thursday and they still didn't have enough customers! so they gave me a Day tour for Friday instead of my original night tour booking (it's a very different experience). So... if you're booking a tour on any day except Fri/Sat, you should expect that they might cancel. Also, the night tour was supposed to be 7:30-10:30pm, not 6-9pm as currently advertised on their website. 3. The Day tour to Sierra del Tigre was terrible. The roughest ride ever. It would've been more aligned expectations if they had billed it as an adventure, not a tour, and a free chiropractic adjustment for an hour! (The roughest part of the ride was the first hour. Thankfully the second half was smoother. But still extremely cold...) 4. The tour bus has no windows, so it was extremely cold, and the customer service agent who communicated with me about the tour never mentioned that we should dress warmly. My wife and I were struggling so much (holding onto each other for dear life) that a kind Mexican had to lend my wife an extra sweater. 5. It was two hours of breathing the tour bus exhaust fumes. Again it's because the bus has no windows. 6. The few stops we made, the views were nice, not amazing, and definitely not worth the terrible ride. As we drove around Mazamitla and surrounding areas (for example, Parque Tecolote) we saw views that were even nicer than on this tour. 7. It happened to be raining, which made the tour ride even more hellish. Again, no windows! And they gave us no warning about dressing warmly. Honestly they could probably add to their profit by SELLING SWEATERS on the bus that has their logo on it! Even if it says 5-Star Tour Company we would've bought the sweaters because we were so miserably cold. 8. Beware the 5-star reviews -- I know that at least one of them is an employee! The staff are a friendly bunch, and no doubt have a lot of supportive friends... The only good part (and why this is not 1-star review) was the customer service/ sales agent Estefanía was very nice and fast to respond over WhatsApp. Gracias por su amabilidad 🙏🏼
Excellent service! Very attentive, knowledgeable and funny, Faisan and the driver Fenix were a great team! Special thanks to Condor, he takes the most beautiful pictures ever ❤ Highly recommended 👌 👍🏼
A very basic tour. You get trucked out to the mountainside for some nice views and make a short stop in a nearby town. I wish the tour had been more informative, as the guide did not seem to have answers to basic questions about the land.
They picked us up in a broken old van with a window missing and the driver wasn't wearing a face mask. We got a great powerful atv but the guide driving in front had a very slow one and barely moved, i felt like a tiger in a cage with all that power and the guide not letting me pass ahead. And the worst part is that the guide picked up a lot of dust the whole time we had dust in our faces. The whole tour pure dust. The driver also kept stopping to chat with all kinds of random people on the way. I recommend renting your own atv and asking the locals for the waterfall route or some other route. Also the drive had the audacity to ask for a tip at the end of what felt like being herded by a careless Shephard I ended up feeling frustrated.
My family and I had the worst experience with Sierra Tours. The sales person (Paloma) promised a tour totally different than what we had!! Be very careful to not get robbed!!!!Once we confronted the sales person, manager, and tour guide everyone denied everything!
Not worth the money. Pretty expensive for just 2.5h driving a bit around. Guide talking the whole time and playing some games. Would rather have enjoyed the calmes.
