The best ice cream in the area! Their unusual, seasonal flavours really let the fruit shine, never too sweet or overly milky. The little art gallery is worth a detour too; the owner-artist Betty Hinton was even painting her next piece while I was there. I hope whoever takes over the shop treats it kindly, it’s a special place. All the best and thank you!
Stopped there on a Monday and all the fun flavours were not available. We ended up getting chocolate and vanilla and were very disappointed with their taste. The texture was ok but it had a very strong milk aftertaste that I didn't expect/enjoy. The chocolate was nowhere to be found and the vanilla seemed to be frozen milk.
If you have to choose between Daintree Ice Cream Company and here, go with Daintree. It's way better. The "ice cream" here had an icy texture, like frost bitten, watered down icee. Not creamy like normal ice cream at all. There was over 10 flavors, we tried 3. The flavors are accurate but very light. Ice cream are all pre packaged in small cups, not scooped to order. Outdoor seating only. I don't recommend at all
Such a cute little spot! Amazing ice cream all homemade. Unique ice cream flavour blends. We loved the Daintree rainforest and coconut passion fruit flavour they are must try’s! The owner is supper friendly and welcoming.
This is the best ice cream in Daintree! You definitely have to try their signature 'Daintree Rainforest' icecream. While unique, this is the most refreshing icecream I have ever tasted. You will not regret it.
We visited this ice creamery mid January, seems very quiet as we're the only customers there. I mean you can't get any better than a tropical ice cream in the middle of a rainforest. The flavours are very unique, yellow sapote was my favourite out of the three. Definitely worth a visit whilst in the Daintree.
I had a packet of cigarettes in my hand I was told to not Smoke ( which I already knew). I had a cigarette in the carpark before i came in. Then I was told where to sit. Very messy and needs some love. The Ice cream is not as good as an unnamed one further along the road and the staff were a lot more pleasant to speak with and more choice.
The homemade icecream was delicious. Not too sweet. The people working here were lovely people and very kind. They have a variety of icecream flavours, good coffee and a variety of soft drinks and fizzy drinks that are organic and low in sugar.

This is a lovely family run establishment. Quite the array of Australian birds! Worth it the stop, and the owners are the most genuine honest and funniest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
INCREDIBLY out dated and I felt the animals should never be held captive there...the price was high and I'm not sure where that money is going because it's not going into the property... only giving 2 stars instead of none because the people and animals were friendly and nice...a place like that should only house animals that have been rescued... don't doom healthy animals into captivity... house animals that wouldn't survive in the wild
The zoo could be charming if the animals were treated with love and respectful owners, but unfortunately they don't. I worked as a volunteer and unfortunately I have pay the price. The owners take volunteers like their slaves (40H per week for free) and treat them as such. We are treated "lazy", they dare to claim that animals die because of us (when we love animals like me it's just unacceptable level to tell me that!), we stayed in a very dirty house and we are suposed make it clean with very few resources, we are nourished with food for the trash mostly obsolete. Not to mention that the owner touches the buttocks of its girls worker without embarrassment. In short, a true social mess!
Really sad to see such beautiful animals neglected and no zoo keepers in site. Dingoes looked miserable ... one with an ear in need of medical attention and both under nourished ...said wallabies friendly but too scared to approach even with bags of food to feed them. This place needs to be assessed by governing authority to ensure world standards are maintained... very disappointed and felt nauseated in how this establishment treats their animals .
Terrible place. Extremely over priced for what you see unless you like birds. We stayed there and he changed our booking then had to pay extra for our kids which are 5 and 2 and then told us not to mess the extra bed in room or he will charge extra. No fridge or bathroom in rooms. Toilet didn't even have hot water or hand wash. Would be cheaper and better to go to hartley.s and stay in mossman
A really nice place to stay just a few notes for anyone thinking of coming here: -The lady running the place is very friendly and helpful go to her with any issues and she will help you the best she can -You are staying within a zoo and this is pretty damn cool as you can walk around it at night we had no trouble sleeping the animals weren't noisy at all -Breakfest is continental just toast cereal, all nice but nothing cooked -You are isolated (nearest place to walk is maybe 40 minutes or more) Do not stay at this hotel unless you have a car, public transport is sparse and unless you just want to stay in the hotel -Go up the road about 10/15 minutes and there is a nice pub in daintree villege for dinner. -If you stay for more than three nights you get a free river cruise! Not bad at all -The rooms are spacious and the showers are lovely -Plenty of plug sockets, wifi is decent in rooms but better In lobby -There are lots of things to do within a short drive especially around cape tribulation! -Overall a nice hotel with a nice owner! Would reccomend a stay!
Very friendly staff. Saw Crocs, Cassowary, endangered parrots and finches up close and much more. Well worth the trip. Loved it.
Amazing place. Got to hold Koalas and pythons. Lots of great animals to see.

If I had read the previous reviews I would never have gone there. As it was I had the best Parmigani I had ever had, truly, thick and juicy. Good salad and enough chips. It didn’t take long to arrive, barely minutes, I gave some to my son, he had a burger and some to my dog and was still over full. Now, it may of been the time of day, 6.30 pm but there were others being served and everyone looked happy. Let’s hope things have improved for this small country pub
So, they claim to have the coldest beer in Daintree. And you know what? They're not lying. Perfect for washing down a plate of their chips, which, let's be honest, are the perfect pub snack. But the real MVP? Their sauces. Mate, they're homemade, and they're bloody brilliant. I'm talking flavour explosions that'll make your tastebuds do a happy dance. Great beer, great chips, and sauces that'll make you weep with joy. What more could you want?
Food was quite good here. However we are talking about $37 for a Chicken Parma, which was large and quite thick. Cooked well and tasted like any other I've had, but i dont think it's special. Definitely one of the more expensive meals on their menu. The pasta of the day was mushroom, and quite good, also quite large for $25. Chicken nuggets and chips $15. If you are in a rush, i wouldn't recommend this place. We ordered at 12:25 and got our food 50 minutes later for 3 meals. We saw plenty of people who ordered before us come up to the counter and ask about their meals. If you have time, buy a few drinks, chit chat with family and friends, then sure. We tried to be understanding, but it was still a pain. We came during the school holidays and I wouldn't say it's busy, the place half full, with two chefs in the kitchen.
Kitchen closed at 2pm. We made it by two minutes and it was awesome. Wife and I shared a steak 🍔 burger. It was so awesome. Thin slices of steak, very tender and juicy. The salad was fresh and beetroot to top it off. You know it’s good when the juice is dripping from the burger. Real generous portion of chips. All up a great burger. Probably one of the best we have had for sometime.
Last time, (6 years ago) this business was a dodgy looking sports bar. This time around, it has been transformed into a very pleasant, laid back hotel. Great service, good food- the parma is huge and the prices reasonable. Will return soon.
$37 for a croc burger that had the texture of a shoe sole and some chips . For $15 you get some nuggets and some chips.
Absolutely loved this place. Great service, food, music and atmosphere. Friends went the day before and recommended it. So did Whip from Cassowary Falls (amazing time). It did not disappoint. Along with the food, the music mix played was amazing. The owner Bous was generous and shared her playlist. Absolutely fantastic and recommended for everyone including those with food intolerance.
We were a group of 8 and a toddler and had a wonderful experience at this pub. The food was excellent quality and, amazingly, all came out at the same time. The beer was nice a cold and the atmosphere was very fitting for the location. The staff were also very friendly

The hike up is not for the faint of heart, but well worth it! Hiking up through the rainforest and looking up at all the Fan Palms is like something from a movie! Plan to take ~3-3.5 hours total and don’t forget to stop and look up!
This track is open as of 6th september 2024. This is a genuinely challenging track even in the dry season. Expect to be climbing up and down slippery sections. There are also a lot of Wait a While plants. For those ready for the challenge this is a wonderful hike that lets you see lots of different types of rainforest. The view at the end is okay and is just a convenient goal for the real centrepiece of this track: *log* scrambling.
Sadly i have to agree with the other not so great comments. Normally i like to hike and i‘ve done my fair share of hiking, but this path is in very bad shape, which took away most of the fun away. We climbed over at least 20 trees and you tip over all the time. Please be very careful as there are very dangerous stinging trees (see pictures) which, if you touch them, cause pain for months! And they are right next to the path. So if you want to do it for the sake of training go ahead, but if you want to do a nice hike i wouldn‘t recommend it… Animal wise we saw casuary tracks and some small insects, thats all.
The trail is for adventurers. The markings are sparse (you'll still see them) and the trail isn't always super obvious. It's a generally pretty wild track with many very steep sections but the view from the top is amazing (even better from the closed part's end but that part is very tight right next to cliffs, only do it if you're confident in your step!!!). You definitely need to be physically fit and plan with at least 6 hours to do this.
Great but difficult at times hike, felt likethe last 1.2k was about 60% of the walk. Was dry when we went and I can't really imagine doing it in the wet. Steep and scrambly for large portions, narrow with lots of roots and wait-a-while - but lovely breeze and a little viewing platform at the top. Took us about 2:45 up and 2:05 down. Take sturdy shoes, snacks and a solid slug of water.
Popular trail for visiting backpackers. Rainforest walk with minimal chances for scenic views until you reach a small lookout. Hard work most of the way, very steep. Many walkers only had a water bottle. Pity some people at the lookout were smoking 😞
Alone in the deep jungle 👌surrounding by birds sings and Insects noises. Don’t bother to much with the view at the summit, the path is better. warning: you have to be in good health condition, the last part is steep and tough, specially in a hot without wind day. I’m use to walk and cycling, and I did it in 2h up and 2h down, but with some stop to rest on the way up!
Easily the hardest climb I've done but most rewarding! Solo climb started at KPs at 0530, reached Mount sorrow at 0600 reached the peak around 0800. The main look out is average but if your confident keep going and you will be impressed 😳 Got back down to the entrance by 1000 then slept all day haha enjoy 😉
