This place is well worth the visit! We only had it in maps to stop on to use the toilets and so glad we took the time to actually go in and up the tower. If you like historic sites, this one is as good as they get and the view from the top is epic.
What a view. Look it is a little backyard some of the steps have cracks and white ants and well creak a bit, and, well, I was a little dubious on the way up, but the view is spectacular, and the 259 steps are not too bad, even if you suffer vertigo. I last climbed this tower 31 years ago, and I remember it being a lot sturdier. $10 an adult may seem a bit rich, but I like to think the money is keeping the restoration of the tower and its existence for another 100 years. It's worth the lookout and the white knuckle experience.
Magnificent sand stone tower. Got toilet, parking spaces, souvenier shop, museum, and you can take the wooden stairs to climb the top of the tower for an amazing view of the surrounding. Just be mindful that the museum and to get to the top of the tower fees apply. $5 for museum only, and $10 for both for an adult. And there's limit of only 15 peoples at a single time on the tower.
Well worth the walk up the stairs.. The view is fantastic!! Limit 15 people on the staircase at a time. Beautiful gardens surrounding shot tower. Tearoom at base of tower. Little gift shop as you walk through to the stairs.
We recently visited the Shot Tower, and I have to say, it was quite an interesting experience! I loved learning about the history and the process involved in its construction. The story behind the man who brought it all together really added depth to the visit. Climbing to the top was definitely a highlight for me. The view from up there is absolutely stunning! It's one of those moments where you just take a deep breath and soak it all in. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend taking the time to visit—it's worth it!
Loved the shot tower and the history behind it. Well worth a visit and at only $10 a ticket to climb the squeaky circular timber staircase all the way to the top for such beautiful views over the Derwent! Don’t skip this bit of history when you visit Hobart
I'm a little fearful of heights but I enjoyed the trek up the stairs and the view from the top. Fortunately there was no wind on the day we visited so I was brave enough to walk around the platform at the top.
Well worth the walk to the top! 260 plus steps but the view from the top is spectacular. A little run down and in need of a clean but a very interesting part of Tassie history - for 6 years this was the tallest structure in Australia!

We had my cousins Hens day/night at Hidden Cove and honestly, it was beautiful. So, so relaxing! The beauty treatments were amazing! Most of all, the service was spot on. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Will definitely be back! 🩷
What an amazing way to start our Wedding Anniversary week in Tasmania. The attention to detail, starting on arrival nothing was a bother. The breakfast delivered to our door in the mornings was amazing. Champagne in the fridge, was a great way to settle into the night after a massage and spa. We slept like babies, very relaxed. The team at Hidden Cove were outstanding, we definitely will be back and recommending to anyone that visits Tasmania 😀
I had a voucher to use and booked via WhatsApp with Jeri who was very responsive to my requests (even though I was terrible at replying)! I managed to get an appointment within a few days! When I arrived I was greeted warmly by a fella who advised that my therapist was getting the room ready. My therapist was also very welcoming and clearly an experienced relaxation massage therapist. Both the reception area and the therapy rooms were warm, clean and inviting. I had a full body scrub/ wrap followed by a massage and a facial. A special for April at only $135. Worth well more, with the option for hot tub use and nibbles either before or afterwards. My skin has been immaculate since the experience and none of my usual acne from having a facial. I hadn’t visited for 7 years but I’ll be back much sooner next time. Such a great experience- much better than Endota or Hadleys for spa treatments in my opinion.
From the moment we arrived at Hidden Cove, we were wrapped in a sense of calm and care that only a truly special place can offer. Nestled in a peaceful setting, this retreat is a sanctuary for anyone seeking rejuvenation, pampering, and a touch of indulgence. Jerilee is the heart of the experience—gracious, attentive, and effortlessly warm. Her hospitality made us feel not just welcome, but genuinely cared for. Every detail, from the soothing ambiance to the thoughtful amenities, reflected her dedication to creating a haven of relaxation. The spa and massage treatments were nothing short of divine. Expert hands and tranquil surroundings melted away every ounce of tension. It felt like time slowed down just for us. And the food? A dream. Breakfast and dinner were both nourishing and beautifully prepared—wholesome, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Each meal was a quiet celebration of comfort and quality. Whether you're looking to unwind, reconnect with yourself, or simply be pampered in a peaceful setting, Hidden Cove is a gem. We left feeling lighter, calmer, and deeply refreshed. Can’t wait to return.
Awesome Experience & definitely worth the drive there. Such a luvly spot & so quiet & peaceful. The team there were so welcoming & look after you so well. Recommend the spa/facial ultimate package which includes a cheese platter & bubbles. Thank you 🥂😍
A few girls & I had a weekend away and LOVED IT!!!! Had a very enjoyable relaxing stay. Loved tea and breakfast. Also thoroughly enjoyed the spa, massage & facial. Jeri & James are lovely people. Will definitely be back x
--- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **A True Hidden Gem – Unforgettable Spa Experience!** From the moment I stepped into **Hidden Cove Spa**, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere is serene, calming, and beautifully designed — truly living up to its name as a peaceful “hidden cove.” I booked a facial and was absolutely blown away by the experience. The esthetician was not only professional and knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive to my skin's needs. My face felt *refreshed, glowing, and deeply hydrated* after just one session. She explained every step of the process and even recommended personalized skincare tips without being pushy. What sets this spa apart is the *attention to detail* and the overall feeling of care. From the soothing music and aromatherapy to the warm tea offered post-treatment, every part of the visit felt intentional and luxurious. Whether you're a skincare enthusiast or just looking to relax and treat yourself, **Hidden Cove Spa** is the perfect escape. I’m already looking forward to my next appointment — highly recommend to anyone needing a little self-care.
I don't know where to start. From the minute you get there, you are made to feel like royalty. Everything was just amazing, the chalet, the food, the massages, facials, I could go on and on. Just perfect. Would highly recommend to couples, singles or groups.

I had my 26th birthday here and it was great, so fun and amazing bush arena, great value and very accommodating!
It’s such a great when a place is both well-organized and spacious enough for children to enjoy themselves. You will have enough time to set up your children’s birthday tables without too much last minute rush. Very nice people and very responsible to take care everything. Recommend to have a party or game here.
For kids who like some kind of adventure.....😁
Tas Laser Skirmish is such a blast. We have had 2 teenage birthday parties here (parents included) . Both times, it has been managed and instructed perfectly. Picnic table and chairs provided for after game food and cake (byo). Great setting 👌
Absolutely fantastic. Great staff, very kind and helpful, organised, and all the kids had a fun time. Would definitely recommend, was one of the best (maybe the best) entertainment facilities we went to on our trip to Tasmania.
My son had his birthday party here last weekend and he and his friends had a great time. Everything was so well organised and smoothly run and the communication with Jonathan for making the booking was excellent. We appreciated having the picnic tables to use afterwards for food and cake too. Highly recommended.
Our family of three absolutely loved this experience. The staff were amazing, friendly and generally decent people and the games were terrific!!! Thank you it was nice to finally get around to doing this!
Brilliant! Loved the games that were organised, it was suitable for a variety of ages and abilities. The people running it were friendly and it made the whole session a success. Definitely recommend this activity.

Beautiful course only 20 minutes from Hobart city and about 45 from the airport. First hole is a par 3 looking out over the Derwent River. The 1st and 18th are the only holes where there are any hills to worry about. But if you are walking the course, there is a lift to bring you and your buggy up the hill to the 18th tee. The course is well maintained and easy to navigate. Just be aware, the Pro Shop is card payment only. They don't accept cash.
A welcoming club. Interesting layout with a mix of holes. Greens are superb, fast and true. Pro shop on site is reasonably stocked. Bar and food available 5 or 6 carts available for hire
I come and play this course usually once a year visiting from FNQ. My club in Cairns is an affiliate club so green fee’s are free. The course is IMMACULATE and a privilege to play. Absolutely beautiful course.
Friendly fella in the pro shop but they had no pull trollies available. Track was just okay, don’t think it belongs in the top 100 though. Some nice holes and some great views, all in reasonable condition. All this tainted by the rude bloke calling himself the cook in the clubhouse. He was far from welcoming when I went in at lunch time. But he really outdid himself when I went in after my round for a beer, they were still open yet snapped at me that he had closed his till. To top it all off he was a 45 year old bloke with his cap on backwards trying to be Mr cool. Someone’s been watching to much American diner owners on tv, do better buddy!
Played Wednesday comp while Caravaning through area. Everyone very welcoming and the course was in Excellent condition. Greens in Excellent condition. Stunning views from the clubhouse. Really enjoyed my day here.
An absolutely stunning Golf Course with unique views of the water, Mt Wellington and surrounding bush land. The course is well laid out with challenging holes. Great value with 10 holes for the price of 9 to save you the hike back from the 9th. Friendly staff and a great day out.
This place is fantastic! Outstanding staff and the course was in immaculate condition. Best greens in Tassie!
Beautiful and challenging 18 hole course , topped off with a great clubhouse and the friendliest and most welcoming staff i've come across at any club . Made for a fantastic and memorable day for our group .

Lost my wedding ring here and Mother Nature gave it back to me. Lovely little beach tucked away in a beautiful little pocket
Great beach, sand and water too
Great little beach to drop into to cool off. Easy walk down from limited street parking. You'll probably see all your friends there. Looking out to the shipping lane anchorages and the cliffs you can see sailing boats and sea kayaks bobbing along.
Nice fresh sea water to swim in. No easy access, it's definitely an 'locals' beach. It's not a big beach but nice for family groups.
One of Tassie's hidden treasures.
Nice south facing beach, so misses northerly winds
Nice beach and not to crowded....shallow water..good for kids to learn kayaking

I went to Cat with a persistent sore shoulder that would not go away. With only one session Cat fixed my shoulder! She is unbelievable, professional and I highly recommend her. Thanks Cat 👍
I Highly recommend Cat. Her treatment combines a mix of remedial, hot stone and Thai massage techniques. I have had 3 treatments from her and each time my chronic back pain is substantially relieved immediately after the treatment.
Would recommend to anyone. Herbal ball massage with hot stones really helped my body to relax. If you are looking for a massage to release stess and help with them achingly muscular areas this is the place to go. Thanks kat
They are an expert in locating tension & knots in body , premises are super tidy and staff is very professional . Thanks to Cat for an amazing service.

This float spa is ideal for tuning out all of life's complexities and really enjoying a silent moment for your mind. It's in this quiet shopping centre off the Channel Highway at Taroona with almost no traffic noise. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming, and the space is spotless, nicely decorated, warm, and cosy, making it ideal for a couple's float session. My partner and I had an incredible experience (this was our first float experience) and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, serene place to visit and truly unwind. The float tanks are located in separate rooms, each with an attached shower and nicely warmed on a chilly day. After the float, you can relax in the reception area with a cup of freshly brewed tea. I will definitely return!
I had a wonderful float. I felt very relaxed, free and happy. My sugar cravings also disappeared, this was unexpected and a joy. The energy and atmosphere of Tranquility float is nourishing and Chris really looks after you as she leads you through what happens and then gives you a nice warm cuppa at the end. I loved it, I feel great and I will definitely be going back. Thank you Chris for giving me such a wonderful, rejuvenating experience.
I did a float with Chris and Tranquility Float on a visit to Tasmania a while ago - in her old premises. It was lovely. Only my second time floating so I'm a beginner, but found the experience interesting and relaxing. Give it a try if you're curious! Looking forward to visiting the new and improved premises.
Floating has been life changing for me. It’s now a part of my regular self care routine. I have Fibromyalgia and anxiety (it’s lovely partner in crime). Floats are great for tension release and relaxation and I always leave feeling revitalized and refreshed no matter the state of mind I arrive in. And Chris is so lovely and accommodating. Highly recommend!!!
First time floater yesterday and I was blown away by the amazing service, atmosphere and all round experience. The float itself was incredible, so relaxing i drifted off to a light sleep a couple of times. Highly recommend everyone trying it!
What an amazing experience. I slept so well after the float session and all of my muscles feel very relaxed as if i've had a massage. Chris was lovely and the tea aftewards really hit the spot. Float Therapy at Tranquility Float is the best way to totally relax!
Tranquility Float, as my first experience it was Amazing!!! It was the most relaxed I have ever felt, so much so that I fell asleep. Chris explained everything thoroughly and was just so divine and caring after the float, sharing a cup of tea. I would most definently recommend this business and Im sure Chris herself is just as giving with her Reflexology:)
Floating was a really surprising experience for me. I loved it, and it left me changes in my body and mind:a lot to observe and contemplate. Definitely something to do again! Tranquility Float center facilitated the experience for me in a tasteful and non-intrusive way. Thanks Team! :-)

Gorgeous picturesque little cove Road windy and some of it unsealed But worth a visit
The carpark light throws a bit too much light pollution, and it would be nice if there was a bench or something on the jetty to put things on - your bag, mini tripods, etc
Lovely sunny picnic spot & a top spot for a cuppa & toilet stop during an ebike ride around the Tinderbox area.
Scenic, well maintained. One other two more roofed benches for a family picnic would make it perfect.
Went for a drive and found this area….have always wanted to visit the area as we go to Kettering and on to Bruny a couple of times a year…..so it was a nice drive from Hobart via Kingston….
Amazingly freezing cold water to dip into on the hot days we are having. Great place to head off on a kayaking adventure. Plenty of sea caves seaside and painted sandstone bayside. A huge sign out of place was erected along the side claiming not to anchor as there is a underwater cable. Absolute eyesore!
Quiet place. Nice view to enjoy a BBQ with family outside.
Lovely spot, plenty of parking, nice quiet little beach, spectacular views of the channel.

Thanks for an amazing day on a bike in Tassie! Sam is a legend and was very accomodating after I called in the afternoon to rent a bike for the following day. The Heritage was so nice to ride that now Jane wants me to buy one. Cheers Sam!
We rented a Harley Davidson for a day to cruise around part of the island. The bikes are well maintained, great value and the owners went above and beyond to ensure we had a good day. They helped us map out a route and suggested several top places to stop for food. They even kindly dropped us back at the hotel. We thoroughly recommend using them and look forward to hiring a bike soon. Thank you!

Updated 22.11.2023 They renovated the toilets recently. Hope they will do something on the barbecue shack as well. Visited this place regularly when our kids were doing the scout water activities.
A dog-friendly little park, good for families, singles & flat grounds make it frail/aged friendly too. Very pleasant, alongside Browns River.
Great park and walking esplanade with beautiful views.
the park has a large shelter with 2 bbq's and one small shelter with a BBQ. the park only has 2 swings. The toilets are old and cold but work fine. The beach is great for walking the dog (off lease) or just going of a walk along the beach.
Good little park to have near the beach. The swing set and BBQs make it a great location for families or friends to sit and eat at during a day at the beach. A little square of concrete allows for a hit of cricket down by the beach. Also has public toilets, which are good to have at that end of the beach.
Bbq facilities and toilet block however it seems to be lacking inviting features. This is probably a good area for a small playground or items for children to access.
Nice li'l park behind dog park end of beach. Has good bbq facilities and that you can take your dog to beach for an unfettered run is icing
Next to dog beach and Alum Cliffs nice park with toilet block and picnic shelter. Road in on that side of the river not that good.
