A place stuck in time, very picturesque and well kept. Beautiful destination and a good motorbike ride there thru the Clare Valley. Will be returning and introduce others to its charm and character. Very soothing to the soul.
EXCELLENT, was quite cold inside, but was good to find out a little bit of information about my great grandfather who was the station manager for W.T. Mortlock. Highly recommend coming here to have a look around while you are at Monaro or even the Clare Valley.
Loved this place, fantastic old home in exceptional condition, amazing what they could build in a remote location all those years ago. A home with a very interesting history, told to us be some very knowledgeable people. Highly recommend if you are in the Northern Barossa Valley.
Simply loved our mid Oct 2025 visit to Martindale Hall - "living museum" is the right description as its such a classic building and for $20 you can enter & wander around the rooms and some of the grounds and enjoy its remarkable Georgian history and grandeur. One claim to fame that the hall has is that it appeared in the film "Picnic at Hanging Rock" It was built for a wealthy bachelor pastoralist named Edmund Bowman Jr who engaged a London based architect, Ebenezer Gregg and 50 tradesmen were brought from England and completed the job in 1880 The hall had 32 rooms and a 7 room cellar, and within the grounds were once a polo ground, a racecourse, a boating lake and a cricket pitch!! By 1891 debt and drought forced the Bowmans to sell all their holdings, and W.T. Mortlock bought it and his son, John Mortlock, developed Martindale Station and built it up to what we see today.
A must see. The history of the property and collection of authentic artefacts was mind blowing, not to mention the grandeur of the building. To think that it was built in the 1800’s in just 1 year by a crew of English artisans and trades was incredible.
A Grand Hall showing off our past with pure splendor. It is beautiful beyond words and to see all the magnificent heritage furniture etc was lovely. A must see if you can. Congratulations to the volunteers and all those who help maintain and run it.
Came across this on a drive to Burra. Absolutely amazing and well worth the $20 adult admission price. Loved it.
One of the most remarkable places I have ever visited. So history and so much to see.I highly recommend going there

Unique place ideal for a family outing (or chess players looking for a unique spot to play). There isn’t a huge variety of things to do, but if you take your time, explore, and play the quiz and assorted games you can happily stay for a couple hours and keep the kids occupied.
Sad that they are closing down. It's tougher than you think and the side games are more interesting than I imagined. Worth the drive from Adelaide. Goodbye and thanks!
This is an amazing maze built with plants. While exploring the maze, you can also complete the tasks on paper given by the staff. In addition to the maze, there are many interesting small games here. When children are playing, adults can buy a cup of coffee and snacks to relax comfortably.
We came with just two adults (one with childhood memories of Mintaro Maze and one without.) We both found our visit very enjoyable! We took our time and discovered as many surprises as we could. The games and activities provided are a nice bonus too. $20 per adult may be a little on the pricey side, but we felt it was worth the price for the fun we had and especially knowing the money goes towards a local attraction with a long history.
Went to this charming little place with my 4yr old son who got abit nervous when he realised the Maze wasn't as straight forward as he expected (poor thing) but he really enjoyed the small games scattered throughout the remainder of the garden. We probably stayed for approx. 90 minutes all up.
Went expecting to get a coffee and have a quick walk A$18 C$10. Stayed over an hour for the puzzles, games and quiz throughout the garden and maze. Had a great time.
Be aware is not free, 18 dollars person person. The maze is not that big you can do it all in 15 minutes. It is really nice garden and very well taken care. It is a tourist spot so they can charge anything but once you done you will never go back.
Worth a visit for the whole family or the romantic couple date. There is plenty to keep everyone entertained. Entry fee applicable at the cafe before entry to the grounds. The maze & premises is smaller than anticipated so don’t fear, the little ones won’t get lost. Cafe offers good coffee & adult refreshments, lucky dips ($8) for the kids, plenty of games outdoors aside the maze to keep the kids entertained. We even spotted rabbits on the grounds which was a pleasant surprise for the little ones. Keep your receipt of entry as if you will receive discount entry fee to Martindale Hall.

Visited the cellar door and bought two bottles. Had a tasting at the cellar door and we tasted the all the Shiraz available. At the end of the visit, we bought the Belles Femmes and the doctor. Haven't opened the doctor but Belles Femmes was really amazing when I had it over dinner.
What a hidden gem, the Belle Femme Shiraz was absolutely amazing, as well as the Late pick Riesling and the best Port I have ever tasted. I highly recommend that you try Peter's entire range of wines.
Fantastic wines, strongly recommend the Reisling, Belle Femme Shiraz, and Leckie Window Cabernet Sauvignon. Peter is very friendly and knowledgeable. Great experience!
They have some nice reds and have won a few awards for their reds so is worth a look. The owner was accommodating and had a genuine interest in sharing his knowledge of wines through the tastings I completed here. Ended up buying a nice shiraz. It’s a little bit out of the way but is worth the drive as it’s a scenic trip to Mintaro Wines.
Great little winery! Popped in because we were going past and it was there. But very glad we did. Happy, helpful staff and tasty wines. Will be back.
Wow, amazing wines and great hospitality, a lovely way to spend the afternoon, well worth the visit...we'll be back. A & A
Fantastic range of excellent wines....check out the Drinking Fish range....& don't forget to try the Sparkling Red!!!!
Late picked Riesling and shiraz, awesome!!! Definitely worth visiting

We spent 3 wonderful nights at Reilly’s Pay Office Cottage which is a historic & charming stone & slate cottage in the beautiful village of Mintaro. The cottage was beautifully presented and very cosy when enjoying a local red by the fire. It was very easy walk to Reillys cellar door and an amazing pub The Magpie & Stump which has great beer and delicious food. It’s an easy & picturesque drive to Clare & surrounding wineries. It’s a very special place to visit & we thoroughly enjoyed spending time in Clare Valley.
You can try any of the wines on the list for free. I think I tried around 10-12 wines. Most of the wines were good and it was more on which wine suit your tastebuds. Great experience and would highly recommend the wine tasting!
Great spot, wine tasting fun and terrific wine. Lunch was outstanding. Love to visit again. We regularly buy their wine.
WOW!!! What an amazing and relaxing experience! Definitely recommend going here. My husband and I are both amazed at the quality of wine and customer service. Our host had such a relaxing personality we could have stayed much longer tasting. We will definitely be back and do lunch next time we visit. The quality of the wine is beautiful.
We called in late in the afternoon and did a fabulous tasting of some excellent wines. I even got to try a couple of very good fortifieds. Great work, thank you
Such a beautiful building. Great wines and a lovely lady giving us tips.for our visit, thank you.
We recently visited Reilly's to celebrate 30 years of business. Julie and Kane were very attentive and nothing was too difficult. Food and wine was sensational. Thanks again, Chris., Janet, Michael and Michelle.
Had a fantastic meal and tasting at Reilly's cellar door with my family. Generous with premium wines and given a discount for those we purchased as we were eating in the restaurant. There we had a selection of wonderful house made treats for lunch. First class. This was all topped off with a lovely stay in one of the heritage cottages right next door - super comfortable and cosy with the fireplace and AC during the cold nights. Highly recommended.
