Sandy beach on the Arabian Sea bounded at both ends by impressive mountainous headlands.

The blowhole was the BEST. Recommended to visit the blowhole during high tide as the water blows much more. There are three main blowholes. The beach had different colours of blue. There is a cafe under the cave for snacks and refreshments.
A beach with stunning views, surrounded by hills and a small walkway with a cave, is what Mughsail Beach offers. The sea shows all its might with the waters hitting the shore, creating splashes all around and through a sea fountain. The waves are strong, and the sea is rough. Getting into water or swimming should be avoided.
The scenic view with cliffs and sea was beautiful, and the peaceful atmosphere with the sound of waves was wonderful. It was calm with few visitors. However, I noticed some littering in the area. Please help preserve this natural beauty by not leaving any trash behind. Visited during the fourth week of September 2025.
Stunning beach and coastline. Some small parking areas off the road and just a few steps walk to the sandy shore. Has trash cans available, please use them 🙏. Great beach often bustling with families and crabs 🦀 😀.
This place is truly breathtaking. The calm blue sea surrounded by towering rocky mountains creates a scenery that feels like a natural masterpiece. The layered cliffs, the raw textures of the rocks, and the wide open ocean make the whole area look peaceful yet powerful at the same time.
Greetings friends, Due to heavy tide not possible for swimming. Very good and beautiful beach. Neat and clean environment. Crowded on season time. Most attractive during from June to August. There is children play station near the beach. No Indians food stuff around this place. Must add this location in your salalah trip.
Mughsail Beach is one of the highlights of Salalah, an absolute must-visit. The long stretch of white sand with turquoise waters is stunning, and the strong waves crashing against the rocks create a dramatic view. The natural blowholes here are a unique attraction, shooting seawater high into the air and entertaining both kids and adults. It’s a great spot for a family outing, with shaded sitting areas, walking paths, and plenty of photo opportunities. The atmosphere is peaceful yet full of energy thanks to the ocean. Whether you want to relax, enjoy nature, or just admire the raw beauty of Oman’s coastline, Mughsail Beach is unforgettable.
Gorgeous beach, the view is amazing. Absolutely recommended if you pass by Salalah.

Small museum at an archaeological park, highlighting regional trade history & frankincense.
Slide 1 of 8
The “Frankincense Museum” (also known as the “Museums of the Land of Frankincense”) is a cultural gem located within the “Al Baleed Archaeological Park”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Salalah, Oman. This museum offers an immersive journey through the rich heritage and historical significance of the Dhofar region, highlighting its deep connections to the ancient frankincense trade. I paid a nominal entrance fee of OMR 3 per person, which felt like a small price for the wealth of knowledge and history awaiting inside. Within the museum, two distinct exhibition halls bring Oman’s maritime and historical legacy to life: - The “MARITIME HALL” showcases intricately crafted wooden models of traditional Omani boats, alongside navigational instruments, boat-building tools, ancient amphorae (ceramic containers once used for storage), and other seafaring artifacts that illustrate Oman’s enduring maritime traditions. - The “HISTORY HALL” houses a fascinating collection of historical artifacts excavated from the “Al Baleed Archaeological Site”, located next to museum in the same premises. Among the exhibits are pottery, metalwork, and detailed architectural models of some of Oman’s most revered sites, including the Tombs of Prophet Ayub, Prophet Hood, and Prophet Saleh, as well as the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. The hall also features beautiful, vividly illustrated manuscripts of the Holy Quran, along with poetic and linguistic texts that capture Oman’s scholarly and artistic legacy. Perhaps the most remarkable piece in the collection is an authentic copy of the letter sent by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the 8th century to the people of Oman. Written in Arabic and bearing the seal of the Prophet, this historic document stands as a testament to the region’s deep-rooted spiritual and historical connections. The museum and archaeological park are must-visit attractions for tourists in Salalah. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, the site is easily accessible and offers an enriching experience for a nominal fee.
Visited the Frankincense Museum and had a wonderful experience. The museum showcases historical sumurakh items and provides fascinating insights into the nearby archaeological site. It offered an in-depth look at how trade was established in the region. Overall, a very informative and enjoyable visit—highly recommended for anyone interested in history and culture.
A small museum with 3 displaying halls + the ruins and remains of the Old Town. A hall of the history of the town A multimedia hall And a hall about sailing, navigation and shipping around with different commercial activities with other countries. After you finish the 3 halls (about half an hour) you can go explore the remaining parts of the old town which include ruins of different mosques and a fortress\palace of the governor of the city.
Great little museum which you can cover in less than an hour. History of islamic and frankenscence shopping routes and ship building and navigation history. Very interesting.
A Must-Visit to Understand Salalah’s Heritage I’m really glad I visited the Museum of the Frankincense Land—it’s a peaceful, well-curated spot that gives you a deep insight into Oman’s ancient trade history, especially the importance of frankincense in the region. The exhibits are simple but informative, and the location right by the sea makes it even more special. You get to see old maps, artifacts, and even ancient scripts that tell the story of trade routes and civilizations that once thrived here. It’s not overwhelming, which makes it perfect for both adults and kids. You leave with a much greater appreciation of Salalah’s cultural and historical importance. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area—it’s more than just a museum, it’s a journey into Oman’s past.
Great place to learn about Oman’s history the park has ancient ruins, a well organized museum, and nice walking areas by the lagoon. Very peaceful and worth visiting
So much history and information about the area. Not to be missed when visiting Salalah. Plenty of parking, facilities, shops, a small lake and as everything else, clean and well manned/maintained.
Frankincense, historical events, and the maritime museum are a must visit when visiting Salalah. Take your children along as there is so much to see and a lot more to learn.

This experience of Blow Holes sound is beyond expectations and amazing. Worth visiting and recommend everyone to see this amazing destination near Salalah Oman.
A beautiful spot to enjoy nature! The cave gives a nice shaded area to relax, and the blow holes are really fun to watch as the waves push water up through the rocks. The sea view is amazing, especially during Khareef season (Jul-Aug) when the blow holes are more active. Well-maintained place with good walkways and perfect for photos. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Salalah! You need to walk more than 1 km to this view point. Tri-cycles and golf carts are shuttling for half a riyal, one way.
It’s a beautiful place, must visit. Mid June afternoon can be very hot and tiring so plan accordingly. There is a nice restaurant, there you can enjoy beach with some quick food!

Beautiful place!! Well worth the drive!!
Marneef Cave and Blow Holes, located near Salalah in Oman, offer a stunning natural experience. The cave itself is a spacious rock formation with unique limestone structures and provides a cool retreat from the heat. The real highlight, however, are the blow holes just outside the cave. As the waves crash against the shore, water jets powerfully through these natural vents, creating an impressive display. The combination of the cave’s beauty and the blow holes’ dynamic energy makes it a must-visit spot for nature lovers. The scenic coastal views add to the overall charm, making it a memorable destination.

Prophet Ayyub, known for his patience and faith in the face of extreme adversity, holds a special place in Islamic tradition. His tomb, located in Salalah, Oman, is a revered site for many pilgrims who seek inspiration from his life story. Surrounded by lush greenery and set against a backdrop of scenic mountains, the tomb exudes a tranquil atmosphere, ideal for reflection and prayer. Prophet Ayyub is remembered for his unwavering faith despite severe trials, including loss of health, wealth, and family. His story is a powerful reminder of perseverance and trust in divine wisdom. The tomb is not only a spiritual destination but also a historical site that connects visitors to the profound lessons from his life. Visiting such a place allows people to connect with their faith on a deeper level and to reflect on the timeless virtues of patience and gratitude. It’s a humbling experience to walk the grounds where such a revered figure once lived.
A Peaceful Visit to the Tomb of Prophet Ayyoob (Job), Salalah The visit to the Tomb of Prophet Ayyoob in the hills near Salalah was one of those quiet, meaningful experiences that stays with you. The drive up there is lovely — winding roads, gentle hills, and the kind of greenery you don’t often expect in Oman. It’s a nice drive to get there, especially during the cooler months when everything feels fresh and alive. The tomb itself is simple, but that simplicity adds to the sacred feeling of the place. There's a calm atmosphere that makes you slow down and reflect. The story of Prophet Ayyoob — his patience through immense suffering — comes to life in a deeper way when you're standing in that peaceful space. Around the tomb, the natural surroundings are just beautiful. The cool breeze, the soft hills, and the quiet remind me a lot of the greenery back home in Kerala. It's almost surreal to find a place like this in Oman. Whether you're visiting for spiritual reasons or just to find a bit of peace and nature, this place offers both. It’s not grand or crowded — just quietly powerful, like the story it holds.
Amazing experience at the tomb, the weather was awesome. Full of clouds and greenery. The tomb has ample parking space and places the eat and drink. There was a man selling dry fruit and honey at reasonable prices.. Do buy the walnuts and baby figs.. also the honey is real and good
Nestled in the heart of the green mountains of Salalah, it is a place imbued with serenity and spirituality. The air is fresh, the panoramic view of the lush hills is breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere invites contemplation. Between grandiose nature and sacred history, it is an essential stop to recharge your batteries while admiring the unique beauty of the Omani landscapes
The prophet Ayub (as), also known as Job in the Old Testament, is a prophet mentioned in the Quran specifically for his trait of remaining patient in the face of adversity and tests sent from God so much so that his patience (Sabr e Ayub) has become idiomatic. Although his grave is claimed according to some traditions to be in Palestine, Syria or Lebanon, the Dhofari locals claim this to be his burial site. It's situated in a very spiritual garden in the hills overlooking Salalah and also houses his footsteps and a mosque where he prayed. You'll often see locals and foreigners residing in the city coming here to pay their respect and pray for proximity to God. Well worth the drive to visit.
Visited the blessed Tomb of Nabi Ayub (A.S.) for the third time in three years, and each visit feels as peaceful and humbling as the first. The serene surroundings, well-maintained area, and spiritual atmosphere make it a truly sacred place. A place of reflection, prayer, and deep connection.Grateful for the opportunity to be here again.
This is the burial place of the prophet Job / Ayub. He is also important for us Christians. He teaches us unconditional loyalty and perseverence for God. Nice, spiritual spot and good energies here.
A serene spiritual spot, drive carefully through the foggy roads” Nabi Ayub Tomb is a peaceful and spiritually significant site, well worth a visit if you’re exploring the Salalah area. The surroundings are calm and offer a quiet place for reflection. However, be very careful while driving there, the road leading to the tomb is often covered in thick fog, causing zero visibility at times. It’s important to drive slowly and stay alert to ensure a safe trip. The fog adds an eerie beauty but can be dangerous if you’re not prepared. Overall, a meaningful visit with a cautionary note on the drive.

The intricate details, serene ambiance, and grand design make it a truly memorable experience. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, ensuring visitors have a pleasant visit. However, it’s important to note that modest attire is required to enter the mosque. Women must wear full-cover clothing and a headscarf, while men should also dress appropriately. This dress code allows visitors to fully appreciate the beauty of the mosque's interior while respecting its sacred atmosphere. Overall, this mosque is a perfect blend of cultural and spiritual enrichment.
The Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Salalah is an absolute must-visit—a place of awe-inspiring beauty and deep tranquility. The architecture is stunning, blending traditional Islamic design with modern elegance. The interiors are spacious, immaculate, and incredibly peaceful. Whether you’re visiting for prayer or simply to admire its design and serenity, the mosque offers a calming and soulful experience. The lush gardens and surrounding landscape add to its charm. It’s not just a place of worship—it’s a cultural and architectural gem that reflects the spirit of Oman. 5 stars without hesitation!
This is the main Jame mosque in Salalah and presents a blend of traditional Arab architecture with elegant modern influences. It is spacious and clean with plenty of parking spots. Its open all day in case somebody wants to pray or visit and reflect.
A stunning mosque in Salalah with beautiful architecture and serene ambiance. The intricate design, peaceful prayer hall, and well-maintained gardens make it a must-visit. A welcoming place that truly reflects Omani culture and hospitality. Highly recommended for a memorable cultural experience!
The biggest mosque in the city. Always open for prayer and closes after Eshaa prayer. The ladies hall is big and clean with toilets and places for ablution (وضوء). There is also 2 internal screens that show inside the mosque, men hall, to women. It’s well maintained and smells good due to incense all the time.
Beautiful mosque. Visit by day and also by night!
One of the most beautiful Mosques I’ve ever visited.
Beautiful and large mosque. Parking available. Neat and clean facilities. Drinking water also available.

An archeological site for ancient marvel. The place was once a gate way for trading. A number of visitors must have landed and boarded the ships from this place. The site is under surveillance and has entrance ticket. Their are timings to enter and visit the site which must be checked before all the way to the location.
Visited Khor Rori, the fascinating archaeological site I had been curious about, especially because of its connection to Queen Sheba. The entrance required a ticket paid via credit card. The site itself is impressive, with well-preserved walls and multi-story buildings that give a real sense of the ancient city’s layout. From the backside, you can see the sea and backwaters, which were used for trading with neighboring regions—primarily in frankincense. The place is serene and peaceful, perfect for soaking in history. The visit concluded with an informative video that added even more context about the site. Overall, a highly enriching and memorable experience.
It is good to visit this place. The view is amazing, quite a bit of history and it’s cheap. An entrance cost 1OMR
Khawr Ruri is a lagoon that was once a bustling port in ancient times. Today, it’s a serene spot where freshwater meets the sea, attracting various bird species. The combination of historical significance and natural beauty makes it a unique destination.
Guys must visit place. This archeological finding is good. It takes back to you in terms of history and Omani culture and human findings. Do visit . As i had great time here. Not rush not much of people
Giving it a one star just because we came all the way to this archaeological park only to be told that it is closed for four days. They haven't updated anywhere, and it wasn't only us. There were many families from Dubai, Qatar and residents of Oman who were there and requested them to open but they refused. This is extremely unprofessional. But now that we were there so we we went around the park and took some great shots of herds of camels and even them some biscuits.
A major historic trading center between India and East Africa. Nice staff.
If you are visiting Salalah, then you must visit Khor Rori a World Heritage Site. This site takes you back to 3rd century BC.

Taqah castle was the place of the governer for the region Nice place to visit from inside to identify the building rooms & toals used at that time
Nice and small fort Taqah. There were no people inside so that was nice. Price for tourists is 2 OMR. We spent there maybe 20 minutes.
Very impressive ancient fort, built to protect the Frankincense trade. The structures.are partially rebuild so the visitors can take a glimpse of what live and trade where in pre Islamic times. From the fort, there is a rough dirt road leading to some very nice beaches. Highly recommend.
Good.. ticket for tourists is a bit too much according to me
Cute little museum worth visiting. Parking free, coffee and dates for free. Nice set up of the rooms with small information about the place.
Very nice view must by your eyes
Taqah castle gives an insight into the culture of Oman, you will find yourself intrigued by the colours around you. Immerse yourself into the history of Oman, Dhofar. What a lovely little place, with different room showcasing the heritage of Oman. And don’t forget to visit Burj Alaskar just behind the castle. You can also enjoy food and coffee there. You need to drive up and down some unpaved paths to get here. Well-worth it. Very beautiful landscape and exclusive sandy beach with rocks on the side. The water is fresh in December. There are waves but not dangerous
No need for a 4x4 at least not during dry season. Especially going down with the 1st gear quite easy. Uphill a few tricky parts but I did it with my Kia Pegas very well without any damage. The street is actually pretty good no real big wholes just sometimes a few stones which you can avoid. Even on the beach down you can drive all the way to the last one. Took me about 30min down and up. The only danger were local guides driving as hell up and down but otherwise easy I would say. It is a must the beach is just stunning. The first one is the nicest. Somehow all tourgroups went to the last one?!.
Wow. What an exceptionally beautiful landscape! Blue sea, white sand, rugged cliffs, and steep mountain slopes. The drive is a bit adventurous, and a four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended. It's best to drive all the way to the end first and then return, taking photos along the way.
Favorite beach in the area. Beautiful views all along. Clean as it is farther away and there are both pebble beaches as well as sandy beaches. The unpaved road was quite smooth and the drive was not too challenging and several sedan cars were seen. Highly recommend coming here.
This is an amazing beach, with no or very few visitors. If you want to be with nature all by yourself this is the go to place.. a part of the journey needs off-roading, but it’s worth every mile. You travel.
A pristine paradise—perfect for a peaceful beach day! Fazayah Beach is an absolute gem tucked away near Salalah. The turquoise waters are crystal clear, and the white sandy shore stretches beautifully with very few crowds around. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing, swimming, or just soaking in the stunning natural beauty. The drive there is scenic and peaceful, and the vibe at the beach is calm and family-friendly. Whether you want to unwind or explore the coastline, Fazayah Beach feels like a slice of paradise, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Dhofar region!
(August 1st week 2024) This hidden beach 5-6km away from the main road. We visited in khareef season it’s really beautiful views , and we really enjoyed the off-road trip. And you can take sedan car’s but recommended is 4X4, I went by my own vehicle Hyundai accent 1.4L🤪(from KSA),Khareef season is special( foggy, cloudy, rainy and greenery) All original photos without editing

The size of the place is impressive. If you are in the area, have a look but getting there just for this isn’t worth it. There is not much to see aside from walls and gates.
A very excellent place, it is called the Sultan's Palace, the fort, and next to it is an old popular market called the Haffa
Not possible to go inside. I turned around several time trying to enter by different entries but it is just not possible

Nice place to visit. You can access the bottom of the hole but be very careful where you put your feet.
Great scenic view. It has a nice park. No restaurants near by so need to carry your food, snacks n water. Toilets are in terrible state. Hygiene concern overall Oman. No place to change if your get in the sink hole.
Do not follow Google Map direction. It will be the wrong way. Instead turn right to a dead end road before “Abouelkhir Cave “ marked on google map. This is a very “raw” sinkhole. Nothing much to see. You park at the end of the road; there’s a paved pathway leading down to a short stairways which is the lookout point to the sinkhole. There’s a rugged path down to the sinkhole but there’s a sign board saying “ For your safety, please don’t pass the safety fence”. That’s all. When we were here on 4 Mar 2025, it is very dry. Note : some reviews posted here shows blue stairways leadings down where swimming is allowed ; but that is another “Bimmah Sinkhole” in a park. Not this raw sinkhole.
Its deep whole ,no much to see .however if you would like to hike down to the bottom you meed to be prepared with your hike boots and mosquito cream or any inscat body spray...the terrine is slippery and muddy specially at monsoon season. Wasn't that easy according to me .
We visited the place in Feb and they said it was unusually cold. It is located very near to the sea so it was very very windy. The park around it is not very beautiful but then it is not even expected to be coz the star is the sink hole. The turquoise water and the view of the hole is so so beautiful. One can go down the stairs ( though the stairs are high) and swim in it. Best to visit in winters
Salalah, Oman is known for its natural beauty and unique geographical features, and one of the notable attractions in the region is the Sinkhole of Tawi Atair. A peaceful and spiritual site. The tomb is remarkably long — unlike anything else I’ve seen — and is believed to be centuries old. The area is calm, with a mosque nearby and a small park. You only need about 5–10 minutes for the visit, but it’s worth stopping if you’re exploring the cultural and historical side of Salalah. Modest dress is advised, and it’s best visited during cooler parts of the day.
One of the longest grave approx. 12 m. It is believed that Nabi Imran A.S. was a 100 feet tall and hence the length. Some believe that some of the family members were also buried here lengthwise that added to the length. Easy access with no entry fee.
The tomb of prophet Imran (AS),located in the heart of city near to clock tower. Places is easily accessible, with parking at the road side and there is masjid inside the compound. Follow the dress code and check the timing before visiting the place. Visit the place for free.
MashaAllah longest tomb in the world and is surrounded by Greenery, pleasant for visiting as this is located in City centre. Visiting tomb/ grave is a suitable time to make supplications (du'a) for the deceased and for oneself, seeking Allah's mercy and guidance. When we visited last week, people approached the grave with humility and respect, lowered voice and maintained silence without any noise.

Interesting archeological site with ruins of a fort, mosques, houses and the city wall. Ther are also two museums. A maritime and a historic museum. There is also a gift shop, but it's a bit hidden. You can walk around and read about the buildings and how people lived there. Walking to the forth is about 10 minutes. Walking around the city and visiting everything takes about an hour. There is also an electric car service to go around which makes it faster and easier. The ticket is OMR 3 for adults. There are also places to grab a coffee.
Nestled on the serene coast of Salalah, Oman, the Al Baleed Archaeological Park offers a portal into a time when ancient ships carried frankincense across the seas and traded stories with faraway lands. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this open-air museum once flourished as the port city of Zafar, a vital node in the fabled Incense Route. We opted for a relaxing yet insightful ride through history aboard a golf cart—just OMR 1 per person. Over the course of 4 to 5 kilometers, we traced the ancient city’s heartbeat, stopping at every key site to explore up close, snap photos, and feel the quiet weight of centuries gone by. Our first stop: the “Grand Mosque ruins”, where towering stone remnants hinted at spiritual gatherings from centuries past. Next, we drifted beside the “Ancient City Walls”, once formidable defenses that now embrace the park in solemn dignity. The “Al Baleed Fort” or Palace ruins, stood nearby—its weathered stones and sprawling layout evoking images of sultans and seaside strategy. At the “Lagoon” the desert met the shimmer of water, inviting a moment of stillness and reflection. And finally, we wandered through the “Museum of the Frankincense Land”, where ancient coins, ship models, and trade artifacts painted a vivid picture of life in Zafar’s golden age. I managed to capture some photos and videos during our visit—frozen frames of time I’d be thrilled to share. Each site has its own tale. History buffs, plan for 2-3 hours (excluding the museum) to soak in the rich heritage and stories of the region.
Large excavations. Very rudimentary at this stage. Poor security so you can walk all over the excavated walls and rocks and cause them to crume. I only visited as the visit was free along with the frankincense museum entry. You can take a golf cart along the path instead of walking if the day is hot. Nice beach immediately behind to walk along after your visit. No swimming allowed though.
A Beautiful Blend of History and Nature Al Baleed Archaeological Park is one of those places that truly surprise you. It’s peaceful, well-maintained, and gives you a real sense of Oman’s rich history, especially around the ancient frankincense trade. Walking through the ruins with the sea breeze in the background feels magical. The museum inside is excellent—simple yet full of fascinating artifacts and stories. You don’t need to be a history buff to enjoy it—it’s just a relaxing and interesting place to explore. Highly recommended if you’re in Salalah. It’s a hidden gem that more people should know about!
Pretty large to walk through the outside exposition - be prepared for it. Indoor part of the museum is very interesting and will give you a lot of information about the history of Oman. I was surprised it was basically empty on Sunday (in January).
Informative and unique site to visit in Salalah. Ruins date back to around 750 AD.
Really nice place to visit, lots of history
Absolutely stunning place to visit. The place is really huge and there was no way we were going to walk all this distance by foot. We took the bigger (1Rial per adult, kids free) and had a leisurely tour of the ruins. Didn’t read much as it was getting late and dard. Maybe, next time!

To drive here is extremely difficult as 12 KM is off road, only 4x4 vehicle can be driven comfortably. The view from here is excellent and the temperature was almost in minus. Heavy wind and low temperature area. Can be driven further up to the mountain, only the vehicle should be capable enough to take you there. No street lights no shops no villagers, its completely ghosted area.
Walking Among the Clouds – A Must-Visit Experience An absolutely awesome place – it truly feels like you’re sitting with the clouds at your feet. The experience is just magical as the clouds pass right by you, making it unforgettable. The temperature is pleasantly cool, adding to the charm of the spot. Looking down can be a little scary, but for trekkers and adventure lovers, it’s the perfect place to enjoy hiking and nature. Definitely a must-visit spot to add to your bucket list!
This is a must visit it’s a bumpy road but doable for an average driver. Never even imagined this would be a thing in salalah. Coffee ,food ,gas and other amenities are a good hour away so be prepared
Standing at Jabal Samhan feels like being on top of the world—literally above the clouds. The view is absolutely surreal, especially in the late afternoon when the mist rolls in, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. It’s worth the drive, whether you’re an adventurer or just looking for a peaceful escape. Bring a coffee, find a good spot, and just soak in the view. Sunset here is pure magic—watching the sun dip below the horizon while the clouds shift beneath you is an experience you won’t forget. If you’re in Dhofar, this is a must-visit! Just make sure to dress warmly—it can get chilly up there.
Amazing view ! Especially for sunset it’s so beautiful. You are literally above the clouds.
Breathtaking views. You need to go offroad for around 1 hour.
