Clear water and you can go fishing if you are on a boat hire. Bring some proper stones beach shoes as it looks white in the photo but it hurts in the feet
I went on May 6, 2025. Got my reservation for the day online on Heart of Sardinia. Trek was not too long, people from all ages were on the trail. Most of the descent/ ascent is near the beach. Many people there that day but not overcrowded. Definitely have to bring your own water and food. This beach lives up to the hype, it’s amazing! Air temperature was high 70s/ low 80s, topping out at about 87 degrees with a few clouds. Clouds came in the afternoon and it rained for half an hour. I got rained on, on the way back. Water temperature was cool but many people swam in the ocean comfortably. I brought my own snorkel mask and enjoyed the variety of fish in the water.
Beautiful beach! Make sure to book online in advance. Ticket is €7. Entrance between 7:30 am and 2 pm. Proper shoes needed, trail is not easy (3,5 km ~1,5 h one way). Free parking.
Always wanted to go this beach - this year managed. Honestly it's very crowded and looks better from the boat than from the beach. The water is also "sandy" - there is beaches with more clear water! Even not far from it
Absolutely incredible, great back drop for photos from the boat, too bad you couldn’t go to the beach. Glad we went!
WOW. Clear waters, white sand - something alot of people can only dream of. It was an amazing experience and I can 100% recommend. It getting the reward for the most beautiful beach in the world is absolutely fair. I went swimming out far and I still could see the bottom of the sea. So so beautiful and amazing.
Beautiful tiny beach with insane water color. Parking: Su Pordettu camper parking lot Tickets: 7 eur pp, make sure you book your slot in advance, 250 people are allowed on the beach per day. The hike (4 km down hill, 4 km uphill, 500 m elevation gain) - downhill is already quite challenging (1,5 hours), the terrain is rocky, partially in shade. Go early, trail open from 7:30. - the hike back after a few hours on the sun and in the water is tough. Do not underestimate. Make sure to bring enough water and food for the whole day, there is nothing on the beach. Be prepared for the heat! It is worth the effort!
An absolute dream of a beach, the most beautiful in Sardinia. I recommend visiting the beach via the hiking trail and starting as early as possible. You should buy the ticket three days in advance using the Heart of Sardinia app or website. We set off at 8 a.m. and arrived at the beach shortly after 9 a.m. At that time of day there were hardly any visitors. At around 11 a.m. the beach gets busier, and soon it is so busy that space becomes tight. The return journey took us two hours, taking regular breaks and walking at a leisurely pace. The return journey is strenuous but absolutely doable; large trees provide plenty of shade at regular intervals and a pleasant temperature for a short breather. You should bring at least 2 liters of water per person.

This place has clear water and beautiful views. We came in the beginning of May, water is still cold. But when you will see this you will want to get in. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. Little advise get the small boat, not the cruise.
Very beautiful beach with unique landscape and cows at the back of the beach. I really disappointed that didn’t visit the caves but hopefully next time. Overall highly recommended to visit!!
Amazing beach! It’s crowded because of the boat tours but you can cross to the caves where it’s much better
Walked to the beach some years ago- this year only seen from boat. It's a wonderful one, but crowded. Long. The caves are impressive - and the back part is lovely too!
It's not the easiest place to reach — you either hike for a couple of hours or take a boat (30 euro)— but it’s 100% worth it. The beach itself is stunning: soft sand, clear turquoise water, and big caves right along the shore that give you shade when the sun gets too strong. The view looks like a postcard, but real. No loud crowds, just nature and peace.
What an experience! The views of the beach and caves are amazing, the rock formations are incredible, great for some pictures!
We paid €60 per person to reach Cala Luna by a large boat — and while the price is on the higher side, the destination itself is definitely worth the trip. The water is crystal clear and incredibly inviting, perfect for swimming and relaxing. However, the experience is slightly spoiled by the condition of the beach cave walls — they’re covered in scratches and graffiti, which takes away from the natural beauty of the place. It’s unfortunate that such a stunning spot hasn’t been better preserved. The beach was also quite crowded, which made it feel less like a hidden gem and more like a tourist hotspot. Still, if you manage to come early in the day or off-season, you might catch it at its best. Cala Luna has amazing potential, and with a bit more care and fewer people, it could easily be one of the most magical places in Sardinia.
Cala Luna — a slice of paradise in Sardinia! We visited Cala Luna by taking an excursion boat for €100, but you can easily join a group tour from Cala Gonone for just €35, which takes you directly to one of the island’s most breathtaking beaches. It’s best to go in the morning, as it gets quite crowded after midday. With crystal-clear water and impressive natural caves that offer shade, it’s the perfect place to relax. Cala Luna still feels wild and untouched, yet it’s surprisingly easy to reach. An ideal spot for swimming, chilling, and taking postcard-worthy photos. A must-visit!

Free shower, free change room and toilet. It is much much better thab Cagliari beaches from where we came due to the strong winds. Umbrella and bed pair is 20 euros. There is a beach bar, from wher you can buy drinks and food. Parking in the road for full day is 5 euro, but there is a parking are just behind the road, it is 4 euro. People here are very very kind.
Awesome beach. Long shallow water. Great for kids. Water playground 10€/h.
A very beautiful beach. Has many bars, sand, water is deep. It is easy to go from the beach to the sea, not much heel. It has mountains, big stones a lot of trees.a lot of parking near by which cost only 0.50 cents. I really like it and very recommend it.
Our favourite beach in Sardegna. I've been to many beaches in Australia, Latin America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, but rarely have I seen water this clear. When you go underwater it's like being in a giant swimming pool. Nice sand, beautiful views of mountains on one side and Arbatax on the other. Like the name too.
Beautiful beach, very easy access.
Super silky the sand. Beach bar is a little bit interesting, you can't just sit down to the empty desk even if you thought 🤷‍♀️.
Very good facilities, very safe enjoyable beach for all age groups.
nice clean water, sand like a gold , great bar near by and beds with parasol for rent :)

Looks nice and some people made some Stone "sculptures" there. You have a beautiful viel and it was not very crowded (May 2024)
Stunning red rocks placed naturally in a picturesque position. The parking that was located in front of the rocks is now closed but you can park on the other side of the road or in the large parking at the marina.
We've been biking along the coast and ended here. Nice to see and take pictures. In the town are also beautiful restaurants and cafés
Great place to visit. It is good to have sneakers on (instead of flip flops) to walk smoothly between the rocks and explore entire area
Really beautiful scene, great for pics, and some swimming!
Nice for a walk + sunset views
Remarkable rock formation that you have to see when you are in the region… . The place has an easy access and a lot of parking space! It’s nice to sit on the rocks next to it and to admire the view… We visited this place in June 2022, during a road trip in Sardina…
Spectacular place, which is a "must" to see when passing Arbatax. Rocks are beautiful and breathtaking. If you go, go early, at 9-10am - only few people. Free, no admission, large parking place suitable also for caravans right in front of it. Souvenirs shop near. Some similar red rocks can be found in surrounding too e.g. Lido di Orri. Local boys jump from the to the sea - that's really extreme adventure :-)

Spiaggia di Cea, Sardinia An absolutely stunning beach! Spiaggia di Cea immediately amazed us with its soft, light sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. Especially impressive are the red rock formations, the "Gli Scogli Rossi di Cea", which look like they're from another world – perfect for swimming, taking photos, or simply admiring the view. Access is easy, and even during high season you can still find peaceful spots. Ideal for families, couples, and anyone who wants to enjoy the natural beauty of Sardinia. More Impressions on Youtube/ Liewerline Best wishes :)
Really nice beach, long, sandy with great scenery. The red rocks in the front and the green on the sides and back makes this beach a special place. There are snorkelling spots around the rocks but I did not see anything worth mentioning. There are plenty of parking spots around the area that cost more or less 4 euro.
Loved the beach and especially the cliffs rising from the water. Recommend to rent a pedal boat to explore the rocks. Overall a great beach!
A very nice beach with impressive red rocks that contrast with the turquoise coloured sea around them!
Very long sandy beach. A lot of bars and sunbeds to rent. In 2025 its 35€ fo a first line, 30€ for second and 25€ for third and next. Very good for young children.
Head to the public beach where the parking charges you €4 all day. This can be applied as a discount when you get coffee or rent umbrellas at the beach house. It is a large beach with plenty of space. Umbrellas and sunbeds were €20 for 2 (half day, with the discount-€25 without) or €25 for whole day (€30 without). The water was warm and gradually becomes deeper (good for kids), beach was sandy with shower facilities by the beach and toilets at the beach house. Great if you are in the Tortoli, Loceri area.
Stunning beach. The water is clear and displays many shades of blue with red rock formations in the water. There are some trees offering shade too. Parking is 5 euros for the day and you can leave and come back. The toilets weren't open when we went but there are some there. Definitely worth visiting this beautiful beach. It was busy(ish) but not as busy as other beaches on the island- still lots of space.
Great beach, fun for kids, plenty of food and fun!

Excellent service and amazing boat tour! We booked a full-day trip on the Federica and it was a highlight of our trip in Sardinia. The crew ensured that we are looked after from the beginning till the end. Appetiser, lunch (seafood or vegetarian), desert, wine and water were included together with umbrellas provided for the beaches. We had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful beaches with crystal clear and turquoise water, which would be difficult to access without a boat. Admiring the beauty of the Gulf of Orosei from a boat is definitely worth it. We strongly recommend them and you will be in the best hands!
We really liked the trip. The crew was friendly and the food was very good. The beaches were super beautifulIt and there weren’t many people on the boat. It was a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.
WOW! ⭐️ Was recommended this company by our Airbnb host. They picked us up and dropped us off in front of the charter. We were on the Livenza and it was a perfect size for everyone. We ended up not getting a spot up top & sat below at a table in the back and it was still wonderful. Hit 3 beaches, a cave, had lunch in a bay and finished off the day by swimming in waters of Cala Goloritzé (since it’s only reachable by swimming to the beach or a loooooong hike). Umbrellas were provided as well! After each time we got on the charter to head to the next beach, they had snacks & drinks waiting for us! The lunch was amazing - I opted for the pasta while my mom went for the traditional Sardinian dish. It was also my birthday so they gave me a birthday sorbetto!! Had the opportunity to head into a cave for 44 minutes for 10 euros, I think it was worth it to cool down a little from the very hot day! Crew was amazing as well! Really sweet. Pictures don’t do this coast justice, really just in awe the whole time. Book with them! I had a hard time finding a boat tour that provided a lunch & snacks. This company knocked it out of the park.
We enjoyed the boat trip in the Gulf of Orosei. We visited several stunning natural beaches but expect crowds of people as many boats are coming constantly. We also visited the Cave of Fico which is worth of 10€ adult/€5 kids. The snack and lunch served on board were tasty, wine and fruits included. Frederica crew was friendly and helpful.
Very good experience. The prices are the best we found in the area. They also offered food and a very good and exceptional program
Nice boatstrip along the rugged coast with a couple stops on some white beaches, only reachable by boat. Good 2 course food on the boat for lunch. In between they got some beverages and some snacks. Also cave tour on the end. But do bring some extra water or drinks for on the beaches.
We booked a trip for 13 adults (€75) and for 13 children (€65) We were told that there wouldn’t be many more passengers than the 26 in our party, but there were actually around 50-60 passengers, so the boat seemed quite packed. We visited lots and coves and stopped at some stunning beaches, which are only reachable by boat, although some were quite busy. Lunch was included and was fantastic. Fregola (Sardinian pasta) with Frutta di Mare (seafood) and Gamberoni (shrimps), all cooked from scratch by the team on board. The boat also stops at the ‘Grotta del Fico’ caves for those who fancy exploring. For those who just preferred to lie on the beach, the boat duly stopped to let passengers off. A really great day out. To see a glossy film of our 'Sardinian Boating Adventure’, plus many other great films. Great service on board of the Livenza boat. Snacks, water, umbrellas (highly appreciated), lunch with some dessert and digestive liquor mirto and great calas. Must do if you are in town. We went to Cala Mariolu, Cala Gabbiani, Grotta del Fico and Cala Biriala. On our way back, a great surprise (don’t want to spoil you)

Very nica cave Very big and amazing and impressive You can see stalagmites and stalactites You can see fresh water The tout is very nice and the path is well arranged and well lit
The guided tour in Grotta del Fico was impressive. The cave itself is beautiful, with stunning rock formations and a well-maintained path. However, the tour had a noticeable imbalance in language—while the guide provided detailed explanations in Italian, the English version was significantly shorter. It would have been more enjoyable if the information in both languages were equally detailed. Nonetheless, the experience was worth it, especially for those interested in geology and nature.
Very interesting cave… But with the group of 50 people where tour guide speaks in Italian and English it lasts more than 45 minutes for a tour that shouldn’t take longer than 20min. Temperature inside is 15-18 degrees which can be unpleasant if you are coming wet.
Unaware that we needed to wait for a guide, we started walking and 5 minutes later we saw the guide and join the group, we were asked to leave the group and wait another guide at the entrance. But the cave is pretty and if you didn’t saw any cave in Sardinia it may be worth the visit but 10€ is a bit much
Went to the cave on a stop from our boat tour! Wanted to beat the heat so we went! 10 euros to enter. There are stairs to enter the cave but the view you get is unbelieveable. The tour guided spoke English for us, which was very appreciated. He was very knowledgeable & we learned a lot! Lots of history and things we learned about the island (monk seals, no earthquakes, limestone, etc)! The cave is very well preserved and really interesting. Gets really slippery so careful with those flip flops! Overall, cool learning piece we didn't expect on our boat tour!
I’ve travelled a lot and had never seen something quite this amazing and well preserved. The entrance is beautiful but the treasures inside are amazing. My favorite thing about it is the subterranean river. Though you can’t access everything the place has to offer it’s definitely something worth seeing. Also the temperature offers a break from the hot Sardinian summer. So overall great experience.
This is a must for every tourists going on a boat trip. This is a very well organised place where you will be given mobile phones devices providing information in different languages about the history of the cave. There is about half a kilometre of walking to do inside the cave, the whole tour lasts about 45 minutes and you can go by yourself to explore in your own time.
We were in cruise with mostly Spanish speaking people so for visiting the cave we split for English talking group and Spanish but after this the guide realized that in English group is like few person so we have to just split in half .. our trip took longer cause guide has to talk in 2 languages. Of course is not to see but it's not soo impressive;)

One of the most impressive caves in Europe. Massive underground halls with incredible stalactites and stalagmites, some over 20 meters tall. Formed over 10 million years ago by underground rivers carving through ancient limestone. The tour takes a little bit more than one hour. The guide was friendly and told a lot of interesting things about the cave. You really get a sense of the cave’s age and geological history. The cool temperature (~10°C) was refreshing, especially for kids, so long sleeve jackets will be helpful. Recommend to check a time when excursions start to avoid a long waiting time. A must-see for nature lovers
We enjoyed it a lot! Absolutely stunning place, 2km walk through real natural masterpiece! Be aware of 10 degrees Celsius in the cave and entering hours in the high season. Highly recommended
Great cave that definitely worth for the visit. We were on tour started today 22.8. at 18:30. At that time many places to park. We bought the tickets onsite (adult 12€ and child 7€) and paid by card. At least huddie/sweater is more than recommended and of course good shoes because in some parts it is very slippery. In our group was 10 people + guide. The tour lasted almost 1,5 hour because she (guide) spoke first italian and then due to us english, otherwise the tour would last shorter. The way out of the cave is the same as the way into the cave. I must praise the guide (sorry, I forgot her name) - she was very kind and nice. The way back we were talking not only about the cave itself but also about the Sardinia, life and interesting things in this country. At the end, when we were leaving the cave, she showed us one of the cave inhabitants - some kind of salamander which is all black so the photo it is not very good. Nevermind, thank you once again for great experience
Amazing place to visit. Great value for money. You need to be relatively fit as there are 800 steps in total. Some of the caverns are 50 metres high and the temperature is around a constant 10C. Closed in the winter months as it's inhabited by a large bat colony. Check tour times before arriving as you can only visit on a guided tour. Languages are Italian and English
Spectacular cave worth the visit. The staff is really friendly and the guided tour gives an interesting insight into the place. The parking space is not a long walk to the entrance and you’ll find the start of the cave after a few stairs going up. Don’t forget to bring something to cover up as the temperature can get a little chilly at the bottom! And look up in advance for the schedule of the guided walk in order to wait as little as possible.
Unmissable piece of Sardinia's complex beauty! A truly awe inspiring experience. A cathedral (the scale is easily comparable) of limestone carved by millennia. Access was remarkably straightforward and our guide was superb and absolutely thorough. The architecture of this place dwarfs you (and your comparatively fleeting existence).
I just can’t praise Grotta su Marmuri enough – it’s an absolutely extraordinary place that leaves a huge impression from the very first moment. The cave is enormous, majestic, and full of stunning rock formations – it’s hard to believe that nature created something so spectacular. Walking through its vast halls truly feels like stepping into another world. A big highlight is the guide – a speleologist who leads the tour in both Italian and English. Her knowledge, passion, and way of telling stories are remarkable. You can literally see her love and dedication to this place shining in her eyes, which makes the whole visit even more special. The organization of the tour is top-notch – everything runs smoothly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. This is without doubt one of the must-see places in Sardinia. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for unforgettable experiences! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great cave. You can only visit with a guide which is about 4 times a day (can change for different month). Cave is closed in winter due to bat's hivernating. The guide gave us great I formation in English. You can buy a ticket at the place about 20 minutes befor a tour starts. The gave us pretty chilly (about 10 degrees). Also the way is very wet and can be slippery.

Very nice trip (we chose linea rossa) with a small ferry (motonave bon voyage). Besides the classical stops in wonderful beaches we entered the small fjord of Porto Cuau.
We took a trip with MareOgliastra Lines along the east coast of Sardinia — the route was absolutely stunning. We visited Cala Goloritzé, Cala Luna, and many other beautiful spots. The weather was perfect — not too hot, not too cold — and the photos turned out amazing. We had around two hours at each beach, which was more than enough to explore and enjoy the scenery. The downside was that the captain only spoke Italian, so it was hard to understand anything if you don’t speak the language. It would be great to have at least some basic information in English. They also offered diving on board, which we declined. The woman in charge of that looked rather unkempt (including noticeably hairy legs), which was a bit off-putting, although everything else was fine. Overall, we had a positive experience — the trip was well organized and the nature was breathtaking. With a little more attention to international tourists, it would be perfect.
Lovely boat trip. We did the red line and went to the grotto de fico, which I would really recommend. We were confused and thought food was included. It’s not. Although there is a restaurant at one of the beach stops it’s not great and very slow service, so I’d recommend you take a picnic
Very nice trip. We did the red route and everything was great.
We couldn't fault this boat trip company. We chose them because they had vessels that offered cover and protection from the sun (as opposed to open dinghy's or ribs) as well being were able to bring our own picnic. We had the most wonderful full day boat trip out with them yesterday and it was worth every penny. The boat was spotlessly clean and not overcrowded, in fact we sat up on the open top deck with only 6 others and felt like we were on a private tour! The 3 beaches we visited (Cala Luna, Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu) were lovely and we were given up to two hours on each which was plenty of time to swim, snorkel and sun bathe. The crew were friendly and chatty and professional. Really impressed and would recommend.
Today had a wonderful trip with the best beaches ever seen in Europe.
Every recommendation for this boat excursion. Highlights of Baunei coast, visit to the cave. Beautifully spent day.
(Translated by Google) We chose MareOgliastra Lines to explore the beautiful eastern coast of Sardinia and the experience was truly memorable! We left from Santa Maria Navarrese with the Linea Rossa itinerary, which includes three beach stops: Cala Mariolu, Cala Sisine and Cala Luna. The navigation along the coast of Baunei is spectacular: between majestic cliffs, dreamy coves and crystal clear waters, the landscape is breathtaking. In the most iconic spots - such as Cala Goloritzé, the Piscine di Venere and Pedra Longa - the motor vessel slows down specifically to allow you to better enjoy the view and take photos. A great advantage is that the motor vessel docks directly on the beach: you get off comfortably on the sand, without having to enter the water. A detail that makes the excursion even more relaxing. The excursion is well organized and the staff is kind and helpful. On the official website you can find all the available routes and you can easily book online. An additional option offered during the tour we did was a visit to the Grotta del Fico (optional, with a supplement). We chose not to visit it because we knew it would take away a lot of the time planned for the stop at Cala Mariolu, the most beautiful beach on the itinerary. The stop there is about two hours, but the visit to the cave can last up to an hour and a half, leaving very little time to enjoy the sea. Practical tips: • Bring an umbrella and a cool bag with you: there are refreshment points on some beaches, but having a packed lunch will save you precious time. • Rock shoes are also very useful, given that the beaches mostly have pebble bottoms. They will allow you to enter the water in complete comfort. • If you decide to visit the Grotta del Fico, it may be useful to bring a light jacket (it can be cooler inside than outside) and closed shoes, to walk safely. In summary: Highly recommended! A well-structured excursion, breathtaking landscapes and a great way to discover some of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia. In sintesi: Consigliatissima! Un’escursione ben strutturata, paesaggi mozzafiato e un’ottimo modo per scoprire alcune delle spiagge più belle della Sardegna.

Amazing Beach, although the way down there is a bit too dusty for a normal car.
Nice beach, it should be much better if.not crowded, I wonder when it would because I have been in september. I super liked the snorkeling around very clear water on the north Bring your swimming shoes, they are required for better confort
Quite a pleasant beach, though definitely more on the rocky side. The downside is the constant flow of boats in high season, since that’s basically the main way to get here. On the plus side, just about 300 meters from the beach there’s a small bar and restaurant, so you can grab some water, have a beer, or get something to eat if you need a break. Even in peak season it didn’t feel unbearably crowded on the sand, so overall it turned out to be a really nice experience.
One of my favourite beaches in Sardinia. We got there by boat as part of a boat tour, but you can also get there on foot via a hiking trail. Quite spacious, but definitely take a beach umbrella and lots of water especially if you're going in the summer.
A rocky beach that is absolutely nothing special. Overcrowded because of all the boats. It gets deep very near to the shore and it’s not a place where you can peacefully swim or relax
Beautiful beach with pebble stones
We approached from land, and thus didn't access the caves. You easily drive to the parking with a regular 2x2 car when it's dry. If it has been raining you won't get back up the steep roads without a 4x4. Dont go there without a spare tyre (a real one) and keep in 1st gear so that your tires don't get damages. If you go slow it's a 40 minutes drive from the paved road. Ground clearance on the last bit of the road requires just standard car, about 2 dm with no stones sticking up in the road. The road is well kept all the way to the parking 2km before the beach. The beach is nothing special however, and free diving is lousy there. What makes it with the trip is the road and the hike. If you want to free dive, go to Pedra longa.
Cala Sisine is a wide beach where everyone can find their own spot. The shore is rocky, so water shoes are a must. We chose to reach it by car (not a 4x4), which turned out to be quite challenging on a very steep and stony road. From the parking area, it’s about a 40-minute walk to the beach on a pleasant flat trail. Along the way you’ll pass goats 😊and enjoy some truly stunning views.

This is a beautiful spot to go climbing, swimming and snorkeling. The water is clear but with a stony shore. Rock Climbing is possibly in the area or directly at Pedra longa (experienced rock climber only). I highly recommend the multi pitches.
My favorite hike in Sardinia! Absolutely beautiful! Got to swim at the end too!
This is not a beach. It is a location with clear water but a collection of rocks where you can put your towel and go for a snorkeling activity.
Wow what a beautiful place !!! I highly recommend getting a boat and seeing this area from afar. The waters were beautiful and it’s such a fascinating view! Highly recommend visiting via hiking as well. There is a small beach that can be accessed via the hike or simply anchor your boat and swim ashore. You will not be disappointed but go early in the season and morning.
Easy parking. 'Beach' area is very small, but given access is so close to the parking and only requires a short set of stairs past the restaurant, it is a great place for people not interested in hiking to get to somewhere to swim. The depth get deep quite quickly, but decent amount of small fishes. Depth right off of the cliffs allows for jumping or diving without concern of boulders underneath. One day I was there had no climbers, but another the cliffs were quite active with people roping up. Appears to be dog friendly area.
It’s ok, not much to do down there except to look at the protruding big rock. We went on the Selvaggio Blu trail for a bit but it got kinda boring so we turned back. The water is very blue there however. Worth a visit but probably a short one.
We took the coastal walk from Santa Maria Navarrese to Pedra Longa which was worthwhile. The 'beach' at Pedra Longa is rocky and not especially accessible if your mobility is restricted, but there are some great views afar. Walking back, try and keep to the left path, as like us, and a few others, you can very easily make a wrong turn.
Stunning views. We didn't have good hiking shoes, just sneakers, so we opted for the 5km walk. We stopped so often on the way to take so many photos.

Our favorite Cala of all. And that is saying much considering all of the wonderful amazing places worth seeing in the coast of Sardegna. I’m gonna let the pictures do the talking…
This is an outstanding beach if you come by a boat. Nowadays they take some money for stepping onto the beach but you can swim around for free. It’s pretty easy to anchor in a dinghy. Also large commercial boats don’t disembark tourists here (only smaller ones), so the beach and the area is not as crowded. And overall this beach is less hyped than Cala Goloritze. Amazing stay in a dinghy boat overall, highly recommend.
Very crowded beach. We docked our boat to get people on shore. The guy on the beach could only yell at us and other guests who had difficulties getting out of their boats. We also saw him touching women by “helping” them getting back into the boat. Not a nice experience and enough reason for us to avoid this beach.
Beautiful beach, shaded in the afternoon. Busy with tourists
Less popular than its sister Mariolu but not less beautiful. Less crowded. Crystal clear water, gorgeous views and interesting “sand”, more like little stones. Paradise on earth.
Amazing pebble beach only accessible by boat. The cliff blocks sun later in the afternoon but at 2pm in July there's still enough sun for everyone!
Amazing location, check photos for the 3.5km trail details
Beautiful spot to stop and snorkel or just chill on the beach

The most beautiful beach in the east coast. Only accessible by boat.
Really dangerous route, and it’s not well signposted. I was alone and got lost. Luckily (after almost having a panic attack), I met other people who were also lost, and together we managed to climb back up. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I recommend going by boat and not by hiking 😅
Stunning beach and look offs! We did the hike and I will say this was very strenuous for us, two people of average fitness. I now have a headache. You must download the map off of the All Trails app as there won’t be internet access and it’s easy to take a wrong turn. There are some parts of the hike that are quite daunting, like steep wooden ladders with big vertical drops. Not for those who have a fear of heights. Took us about 1.5-2hrs each way. The beach itself is so beautiful, with small and smooth white pebble rocks. Water shoes are ideal but not necessary. The water is unreal and the surrounding cliffs also look amazing. Seeing the cliffs and water from the hike down was awesome, but I would take a boat if I went again.
Please note that the trail to get to the beach will be hard and even dangerous for beginners. Impossible with kids or dogs, also you’ll need hiking shoes. If you’re good at hiking then it’s a trail with a great views and you should try it, but still note that there are pretty tough parts of the trail Download a map, there’ll be no internet. Also it’s better to use AllTrails map rather than the default route from the Organic Maps.
It’s an outstanding beach - one of the best ones in Sardinia and probably in top 0.01% of the beaches in the world. It’s so beautiful to swim around and watch the wall composed of trees, rock, sand and other naturally formed beauties. If you step on the beach you need to pay but you can just swim around for free. Anchoring on a dinghy is medium difficulty and possible even without much experience. The beach is not super crowded as large commercial boats don’t stop here. I definitely recommend this one to stop at if you rent a dinghy or are on a boat
Unlike the other beaches in the area, the people from the community of Baunei who were “working” here the day we visited were lazy and rude. One young male worker couldn’t be bothered to help out in any small way to help prevent our small dinghy from drifting into a protected area while my passengers were disembarking. He simply decided to walk away when he had enough waiting for my friends to disembark our boat. As a new, and inexperienced driver, all I needed was a little assistance and a smile which doesn’t cost any money. Instead he left a bad impression. Coworker was also disinterested in providing any assurance and was more interested in getting back under their tent. Luckily, most Sardinians are very hard-working nice and helpful.
I hiked here solo in mid-September 2025 and there is no question on how beautiful the scenery and the beach is. Absolutely stunning. That being said, the trail can be seriously dangerous and life threatening if you go unprepared. Without the below, I wouldn’t attempt it: - downloaded map from AllTrails. You will most probably get lost without the AllTrails map as the path literally disappears at specific spots. (you can only download if you have a subscription. Without downloading you can’t follow the map as you will lose reception on the trail) - proper hiking shoes with good grip If you don’t have the above, try other beaches trails which are just as beautiful or even more, like Cala Luna, Mariolou, or Goloritze. It takes nearly 1.5 hours to get to Cala Biriala from the car park in Ololbisi trekking service and 1.5 hours to come back up.
Very nice beach accessible by water. I had a great time here.

Quick and friendly service. Powerful boats, reasonable price. Was able to use my Spanish license. Great place to go and explore the beautiful Sardinian coast
Great communication, quick response, friendly staff and a very nice boat. What else can you wish for? the 6.2m rib w/ 40hp engine we rented means you can drive without license, and there was place for 8. In it sort it's a luxurious boat. We additionally got snorkel gear, life vests for the little ones, an umbrella, cooled box with ice. The coastline is very impressive, steep cliffs, rock climbers, beautiful secluded beaches that you seldom see. Marea really made our day. Highly recommended.
Good! Quick and trustful service. The boats are great and powerful enough to reach the best beaches within an hour, even without license. There are life vests for little kids/baby’s available (free of charge). Prices are clear upfront. You’ll be assisted at the end of the trip to fill up the gas tank at a pump station. So, no worries and enjoy a nice day on the water.
Boats in good shape, plenty of choise, they have boats w/ and w/o licence. Make sure to make a reservation especially during season. I can confirm the fuel up of the boat after trip happened during myself being on board, so all good and fair!
100% recommend them, quick replies, open to changes, skipper option amazing. Roberto was very nice and brought us around truly tailoring the experience to our needs and requests. Thanks!
Great service before and during the day! Easy to reach with timely replies and good value. I took a half day trip with skipper - a must - and had a blast. It was great to beat the crowd in some beaches and discover hidden gems Roberto (our skipper) recommended. I would use their services again and recommend it!
Best place in arbatax to rent a boat. You get the best boats for a great price. Even a coolbox with ice is included in the price ! Via renting a boat you can see/visit the beautiful beaches, cliffs and caves. The boats have a minimum of 40 hp that makes it easy to travel longer distances. Also a spare tank of petrol is in the boat. We rent year after year the five meter variant and that is for our family of four more than enough size.
Very kind staff and good communication. The boats are in perfect condition and the staff gives a good and quick explanation/instruction how everything works on the boat and how to navigate. Rent a boat (with or without boat license) at Marea and discover the Golfo di Orosei by yourself! It's fantastic!
