6 of us stayed at Aspen Apartment for 4 nights. Accomodation was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily. The skiing was super fun. Would recommend it for anyone who wants to try skiing
Snow at Afriski. WOW. Mixed feeling. WHAT WAS GOOD. - The snow - The food & music at night - The vibe - Bum boarding with the kids - Backpakkers area is heated so its very nice and cozy. - Everone that comes through are there for the same reason. To experiance the snow and to have a great time with Family. WHAT WAS BAD - Trying to get hold of Afriski is pathetic. The contact numbers dont work and they dont get back to you on email.Only after phoning via Facebook mesenger. - Backpackers area - Often no Hot water. The Hot Water Tanks are not enough. - The Rooms are not sound proof. Persons playing loud music or laughing at 02:00 can be heard in every room. - The on-line booking system and what happens at booking counter dont match. And it frustrates new guest which could be avoided. - The overall service from staff is not what you expect for a resort of this caliber. Cars that were stuck, when asking staff for help they dont care to help in a speedy manner that is required. The owners of this place need to do a full audit of staff and management. AfriSki is easily rated as a 5, but staff and maintenance / resort team is very bad. If you know there are many tourist coming, then be more prepared and work faster. Not everyone has a 4x4. AfriSki could double their revenue if the roads were made more accesible for normal front wheel drive cars. If the staff could clear the road before the masses arrive or leave. Dont wait until somene is stuck before you go fetch the Tractor. Mixed feelings but we will be back. Hopefully they get the staff and unpreparedness solved.
A beautiful winter wonderland tucked away in the mountains of Lesotho. The drive there is long but the view is so worth it. I have a few suggestions though 1. They need to maybe pave the entrance or do something as it gets really muddy due to the melting snow. 2. The restaurant needs to be expanded as its so small for the amount of people that visit and during peak periods its a nightmare to navigate. 3. Their bathrooms also need a major upgrade. I would suggest they build a separate change room and bathroom as its chaotic. Other than that, its a lovely place and I would definitely visit again.
We booked to stay at Afriski We stayed at the the Levingo which was a two bedroom self catering place - it was neat and clean and we had hot running water at any given time! (At reception other guests were complaining that day had been gone days without hot water, not sure which accommodation they booked). The place was warm with fire places and gas heaters and electric blankets, it gets very cold so that was great! Our room also had free WiFi, which was slow, but manageable. However at check-in they told us that there is no free wifi and we ended up buying a SIM card with R500.00 airtime for data, and it doesn’t allow you to hotspot, but it turns out that our room specifically had free wifi so we kind of wasted the R500.00. You have to request for new towels from the ladies that come to clean the room as they do not change towels daily. It gets very muddy when the snow melts, so use boots and not normal shoes as your feet sinks into the mud, it would be great if they could perhaps tar the place. We ate at Sky Restaurant, it gets full, so book in advance. The food was average we had pizzas. We done the bum boarding and ski training - the bum boarding was super fun, the skiing was difficult eventually we gave up lol but it was not for us. Great experience we booked 4 days but only stayed for 3 days as we done everything and thought we should head back home.
Chalets need a bit of upkeep; while warm and cosy, a lot of the furniture needs replacing and selection of furniture could be better to accommodate cold, tired visitors. The chalets need a revamp to create a snowy mountain experience for visitors. The chalet felt too cramped with unfriendly furniture and needs to made more welcoming. Kitchen appliances worked very well. Yet it took ages to get the chalet serviced, which was frustrating.
It was difficult reaching the resort however it was worth it. My only suggestion is that the resort be more lenient with the skiing times. We were meant to arrive at 10am but because of the road blockades due to the snow, we ended up arriving at 12pm and the lessons were cut off.
Its a very beautiful place to visit, went with the family, a great snow experience but one needs to financially be ready for it. I stayed in Butha-Buthe (accomodation was full at the resort) which was about 70km from Afriski, the drive was beautiful, scenic, up and down, through the mountains. There’s a 100rand entrance fee for the adults and kids above 14yrs, Then activities are bum boarding(150rand), skiing(pricing is based on equipment rented), snow tubing(150rand), there’s a day pass for 1000rand for all, 1300 rands with a ski lesson. Will definitely visit again.
We came on a Saturday as day visitors, booked for skiing online, i was even asked to fill in a form selecting boot sizes online and my booking included equipment. However on arrival I had to join long lines with no clear directions or whats what. Repeating the same thing i did online that was supposed to make my booking smooth on arrival. I had to pay extra for an helmet thats not included in the rental of equipment I had paid for and they ran out of this very same helmet so we didn’t get them and weren’t refunded for something you paid for but didn’t get. Had to pay a refundable deposit for a snow pass. I honestly don’t understand why all these things weren’t catered for in the online booking. Getting my equipment fitted too forever it was very busy and the staff were all over the place with no clear direction of what they’re doing. Our shoes are left out in the open not safe at all they might get stolen. Time came to do the skiing lessons the instructors were irritated and frustrated by everything. They seemed very overwhelmed by the crowd. I didn’t enjoy anything about the skiing experience. Bum border was great we got there early and it was as busy. I just felt like there should maybe be a limit on the number of people accepts in a day because it was a mess there. Then came ordering for a stood in a line for a good 1 hour 30 minutes just to get a boerie roll. Atleast at Gondola they would announce the delay in getting your food so you are aware. Unlike outside standing in the cold waiting to give the waiter your little paper to get a roll. Also the place is very muddy and you must clean the mud off your feet to get on the snow. The people assisting everywhere they speak in sotho like we all understand the language.

I have enjoyed the falls at Maletsunyane and please if you want to enjoy more don't force to go down to the falls with your bakkie as my bakkie failed to come out after the enjoyment possible during rainy times.
Beautiful falls of Lesotho 🇱🇸 the place is clean we had fun with the horses, the restaurant is a bit expensive I wish they could serve Authentic Lesotho cuisine then the place would be amazing.
The waterfall is breathtaking, beautiful sight. Improvement can be done on the roads to get there. Only 4x4’s can survive those roads, and with great difficulty.
The horse ride to the falls has great views and quite eventful. The falls themselves are quite a sight! Definitely something to see when you visit Lesotho…..a truly unforgettable experience
The hiking trails are tough but the views are worth it. Manong Restaurant & Bar serves the most delicious food with generous portions. Do try them out.
Maletsunyane Falls, located near the town of Semonkong in Lesotho, is a breathtaking natural wonder that captivates visitors with its sheer beauty and majestic presence. The journey to Maletsunyane Falls from Lesotho's capital, Maseru, is an adventure in itself, offering travelers the opportunity to traverse the stunning landscapes of this mountainous country. The route unfolds through picturesque hills and valleys, setting the stage for the awe-inspiring sight that awaits. Upon arrival, international visitors are required to pay an entrance fee, a small price for the unforgettable experience that lies ahead. The history of Maletsunyane Falls is as intriguing as its natural beauty. It is named after the Maletsunyane River and holds a Guinness World Record for the highest commercially rafted waterfall. Local lore and historical narratives add a rich cultural layer to the visit, making it not just a natural excursion but also a journey through the heritage of Lesotho. The visitor's centre at Maletsunyane Falls provides an excellent starting point for exploration. It features a convenient observation deck that offers panoramic views of the falls, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the magnitude and splendor of the cascade as it plunges 192 meters into the gorge below. This vantage point is perfect for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, offering a moment of serene contemplation. For those looking to immerse themselves further in the local culture and landscape, horse rides are available, led by very friendly and enthusiastic locals. This unique mode of transport adds an authentic touch to the adventure, enabling visitors to explore the surrounding areas in a traditional and eco-friendly manner. Maletsunyane Falls is highly recommended for anyone visiting Lesotho. Its unparalleled scenery, combined with the enriching journey and the opportunity to engage with the local community, make it a must-visit destination that promises a memorable and enriching experience. Whether you're an avid adventurer, a history buff, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of nature, Maletsunyane Falls is sure to leave a lasting impression.
If you're staying anywhere in Lesotho, definitely go visit this waterfall. When we went it was summer and quite dry. The whole area is drying up quite fast so you should go visit before it disappears 😅 but even without the waterfall it's still a breathtaking view.
An incredible experience of nature at its best. Did the tour and Absailing with Semonkong Lodge who were absolutely amazing in training and support.

Beautiful, road not ideal for small vehicles, but the views are unbelievable!
The place isn't as one would imagine, there is not much to see except the name plate. However, the close by Malealea Village is a great place to visit with friendly people.
A breathtaking viewpoint on a 2,000 metre high pass looking into the Makhaleng Valley towards Thaba Putsoa Mountain range of central west Lesotho. Pony Trekking lodge at Malealea Village is off to left about 5.6 along the very rough gravel road on left. Photo taken on Saturday 13th April 2019 while on drive to Maseru.
Words cannot explain how this place looks.
(Translated by Google) The road to this pass really takes you to the "gates of paradise". It is not an easy road, full of potholes and stones, but the view when you get to the top is unparalleledly beautiful, both in the morning and in the evening at sunset.

Would like to give a big thanks to the whole team at Avani, Sharlene, Chef Siya for all your support and efforts in our event and then to Mr Letsoso and Willem for accommodating us over the 2 days, I really must say that once we resolve everything you guys really came out on top and gave us a memorable time, the whole team really appreciated the hospitality. My room was lovely and beautifully clean, really everything was amazing. I can’t wait to be back
Great location in Maseru. Beautiful scenery of Maseru and the mountains. Rooms have a good feel and well proportioned. Shower, bath and toilet was clean and well accessible. Food menu for room service and at the restaurant Nala, is a bit limited. Breakfast, however, was great with a hot station, fresh fruits, yogurts ands breads. It was overall a wonderful stay.
The hotel is ancient. Everything in the room is incredibly worn out and years past needing a renovation. Only one free plug point without unplugging the lights. The weirdest thing was the bathroom lights can only be controlled from the very front of the room. Otherwise, the bed, shower, hot water, climate control, etc. was all ok, neither really bad, but nothing particularly good either. Probably the best thing I liked was having the balcony looking out over the city and mountains with its high up location. Service was fine, check in was fast, mealtimes can be a little chaotic trying to flag down for some coffee or something, or humorously enough, keeping someone from taking your table at breakfast. The food was about average, for the sake of time I just did the buffets and you get chicken, rice, vegetables, some type of noodles, pretty basic fare. Nothing terribly good quality, nothing really that bad, either. There’s a pool area but didn’t seem like anyone uses it. Gym was surprisingly large with full equipment of a real gym. There’s a casino with mainly slot machines, and a few other drinking/eating options. I heard Avani took this over pretty recently, so maybe they will start bringing the rooms up to date…but let’s see.
Exceptional service, delicious food, and breathtaking views! 👌🏼👌🏼 I had an amazing stay at Avani Hotel and Casino. The hotel offers several dining options, and every meal was full of flavor with a great variety to choose from. Their buffet breakfasts and dinners were especially enjoyable. During our stay, we also explored nearby attractions; had lunch at Pioneer Mall and visited the famous Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village, just a 37-minute drive away. The rooms were spotless and incredibly comfortable. The view from the pool was simply stunning 🤩. Overall, it was a truly beautiful and memorable experience!
(Edit: After my original review detailled below. Thank you for your response management. I am aware that you have gym memberships. The time I visited the facility was not during your gym peak hours, and the people I am referring to were not gym members. These people were members of staff. Some of whom I recognized as waiting staff and the real give away was they were changing into or out of their staff uniform. You simply cannot treat a 4 or 5 star hotel facility as a staff facility. That is not the experience that your guests and even those paying your expensive gym membership are investing in. Your facility was smelly, dirty, over-crowded and full of raucous, shrieking, uncouth staff members. This is not acceptable and you should take responsibility for this and rectify the situation, not make excuses.) Original review: I tried to use the sauna during my stay, but the ladies changing room in which it is located was frankly overcrowded, noisy, smelly and squalid, and it turns out these were staff. It seems management allows or is simply ignorant of staff using this tiny facility which consists of just two showers and two short benches. In an age of pandemic there is no way that any protocols are being followed or indeed commonsense and good hygiene practices. If a guest has for instance covid and uses the facility it is going to spread like wild fire in the local community when the staff return home; and vice versa if a staff member has covid or some such it will spread throughout the guest rooms and to the guests' country of origin when the guest returns to both. The facility did not used to be run in such an unprofessional manner and it is wholly unacceptable to charge 4* prices for such a soddy service. The new management needs to be reviewed before they run the hotel into the ground. This is unacceptable.
The hotel staff are very unprofessional and seem more focused on money than on providing good service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
While the hotel looks good and has a great location, the rooms are not quite as clean as you would expect. And the service is abysmal! I got no information, had to ask everything for my one, got then really rude answers and sometimes not even reliable ones…and the facilities were not even all available, even though one might have booked the hotel thinking of enjoying the pool for example… if you are looking for a pleasant place to stay, you should consider if location is everything or if service, being informed and being able to use what you paid for isn’t more important.
One very bad thing, they let them smoke in the casino and the whole living area got smell of smoke. Not the best but good choice for staying in Maseru.

If you are near, stop by, take the tour then go to the coffee shop, it’s worth the trip.
A stunning 1 hour drive from Maseru. A quaint small collection of Basotho history and artefacts. A few dinosaur fossils on display. A further 2 hour hike to view dinosaur footprints but it was 2 hot for my 2 kids. A short walk to the craft room where a local spoke to us about some of the pieces on display. I would recommend this place to families, advise you to bring snacks for younger kids, this would not be at the level of capital city museums, but value for money and a nice experience
as a foreigner, the entry cost is 225 rand per person. This is too much for a small museum lost in the middle of nowhere.
The Museum has a collection of great books about Basotho and Lesotho. It also boasts rare specimens from the Past. Improvements that are needed will be to improve the Museum and Archives' online presence as well as wider marketing for audiences in and out of Lesotho
If you are in this region of Lesotho, i can recommend to stop in this museum. The history is very interesting and the people there are really great.
Wonderful experience. Very educational. Our guide was fantastic!

Excellent - not many things to do in Lethoso so definitely worth a visit
Very cool! Important to see this natural wonder when visiting Maseru. Easy to get here from Maseru by taxi, although don't be surprised if the taxi driver can't find it or doesn't know where the best view of the face is. Just keep driving around on the roads east of the rock formation and you'll be able to find the vantage point. Most likely this rock formation has become a source of great pride to the nearby community. The rock alignment clearly appears to be that of an adult lion's face watching stoically out across the pridelands... Safe area to walk around during the daytime.
Stunning views. About 30 mins to hike to the very top. All off path so be ready
Pictures not doing it justice! Nice view and worth the hike, however the closer you get the view disappears.
The mountain itself is beautiful but a bit of a struggle to reach
This place is not the best . Yes you can see the mountains that is shaped like a lion but the place itself in the inside is not right . We got to the place there were not done doing our rooms the rooms do not smell right ,the place is not a guest house but its actually a house that belongs to people. The picture on the website shows no similarities at all. It was said that the place has horse riding and braaing facilities, it has non of that .there is only one bathroom, the chairs are broken, it is not sanitary at all . The owners are not professional at all ,they even have a bad owder. They do not have staff members to indicate that they run an accommodation industry .and the GPS can not even pick up the location of this accommodation becoz of it's dodgy location
Lion head shaped mountain in Maseru. The best way to have a great view of the lion head like mountain is to stop after passing Leqele High School on your way from town and look on the right side in the direction of Matala. It is probably the best thing to see in Maseru
There are nice paths leading to the top if you chat to the locals to find where they start. Stunning views from the top and well worth the climb
