The coffee shop and surrounding courtyard are lovely. It was a warm day so nice to have somewhere to stop and have a break. They have a decent menu for savoury light bites and cakes. I had a lovely iced caffelatte, (I asked for one shot of espresso because I find the UK are apt at making very strong paint stripper-like coffees.) The one shot turned out perfectly, mild, rounded and refreshing. I also had a slice of Victoria sponge and the sponge was moist and the jam delicious within. My Dad had a fantastic freshly made sausage and egg sandwich. I found the food and drink to be really impressive and would defo recommend. I have some constructive criticism regarding the service though. There seemed to be at least four or five people on duty for a relatively quiet cafe (for the time we went.) My cake and drink were served straight away but they took a while with my Dad's sandwich so by the time the sandwich arrived I'd finished my food. I had to chase Dad's sandwich up and heard the woman I'd asked about it ask her colleague who I then heard say she'd do it now. This was not great considering the amount of staff they had and the fact the cafe was quite quiet. When the sandwich did come it was great. You have to help yourself to sauces and serviettes etc, but we had to find that out ourselves. It would have been nice to have been told that on buying the food. Heading to the coffee machine I was greeted with a small “lake” of water on the floor and I was told to mind my step as the machine had been leaking. When the breakfast came the member of staff deployed the two plates on the table and when I asked for sauce, I was met by a hostility I didn’t think was possible to achieve in Morrisons cafe. The breakfast itself was… ok - would have benefitted from toast. I was a little disappointed that the plate that came out also didn’t provide a visual replication of the breakfast on the advertisement board, but it was 8:30am and I suppose it was a lot of effort.
