The Venue is second to none, a lovely welcoming space with unique features and extremely well presented. The additional bonus of the Pool Table kept our younger guests entertained all evening. The variety of drinks was also appreciated by all too. We chose the second of two wonderful food options and everything was incredible and really did include a bit of everything that is rare in a food package. The best part if it could get any better was the Staff themselves. Amy the owner is an absolute legend, she even helped me with a hairdresser when all was lost. The girls who were working were incredible with our younger guests too especially Phoebe who made a lot of friends that night! We travelled 5 hours from our home to hold our Ceremony and Celebration in Whitley Bay and the Crab and Waltzer was one of the reasons why. We would not hesitate to recommend this Venue and hope everyone that uses the Venue has as lovely time as we did!

The menu changes seasonally to offer the best in season produce whilst the classics remain on the menu. The atmosphere is very welcoming and inclusive; I have been as a couple, with friends, with my daughter and alone and always received the same warm welcome. The staff are very accommodating to high chairs/ prams and wheelchair users. K&K is a breastfeeding friendly environment and also has an offering of feminine hygiene products in the bathroom which shows the thought behind the business of offering a welcoming space to all. Kith and Kin is home to the best cappuccino in my opinion, topped with real chocolate. I always opt for the French toast, choosing the special French toast on my last visit which was cereal milk and it was absolutely gorgeous (around £20 for the French toast and 2 cappuccinos). Other top contenders for me are the loaded hash browns, steak sarnie and the classic bacon sandwich which is jam packed with crispy bacon. The staff are great with allergens and the menu has vegan and veggie options. Always recommend booking in advance if attending on a weekend to avoid disappointment but K&K is always a recommendation of mine to anyone after a superb brunch spot.

There was seating indoors and outside. It’s a busy cafe, not surprising given how nice the food and drinks are, so it may be difficult to get seated at busy times. They take table bookings but only if it’s for four or more people.

While the issues over food quality were all pretty minor we did feel that the dishes did the bare minimum and lacked a wow factor. The service was quite perfunctory. We were placed in the corner against what I can only assume shared a wall with the kitchen as there was a lot of banging against it throughout the meal. No staff asked how food was and no one checked if we needed for drinks. After we had finished our food we waited 35 minutes and no plates were removed from the table. After trying multiple times to grab a servers attention, patience was lost. I had to leave the table and acquire the bill myself and ask for the table to be cleared. When the final bill arrived a charity donation was added on our behalf. We weren't asked if this was okay, no signage in the restaurant was present explaining this either. It’s spacious and airy with great views. Unfortunately the food is horrendous - stuck in the 1970s synthetic junk era. The coffee, sold as lattes etc is nothing of the sort, just very watery and very weak with very little milk. Some members of staff are rude and aggressive and seem to resent being questioned about anything and having to serve anybody. I imagine that’s why the food and drinks are so inexcusably bad. It could be an amazing business and big attraction if it had trained willing staff and a small menu of real food, even easy items like chips and pies and sandwiches and cakes and teas and coffees if they were of edible quality. The tiny little art gallery cafe at the back of it doesn’t have the views but it contrasts hugely in a very small menu of excellent quality food and drinks and service. After a long wait (over 30 minutes) we finally made some enquiries when it emerged that no one was preparing our food! The cafe was not busy although it was apparent that the 4 staff in the kitchen were busy prepping for the day!!! They did offer to prepare our breakfast but as we had drunk all the tea and needed to set off on a long journey back to Yorkshire we did not really want to wait any longer. Sadly, the customer service could have been better! Yes.. they did offer to prepare the food once the error was pointed out, Yes .. the money paid for the food was refunded BUT 1.. the apology for their mistake was 'weak' 2.. if a free top up of tea was offered whilst we waited, we may have stayed 3.. wouldn't it have been a nice gesture if they refunded the whole amount!! Sadly, this has tainted our experience of Earsdon. I am aware that the cafe has a lot of daily regulars who are well known to the staff but we should have been treated a little better despite not being recognised as 'local regulars'! The staff were really nice and helpful - the card machine kept failing and the person working kept apologising which was not needed at all! The toilet was nice and clean - only one though. There’s outside seating as well but not totally accessible inside because of the size of it. Fair prices on food too. I had eggs Benedict and my friend had the breakfast bagel and pistachio cake.
