The food was good, a little bland so we needed more salsa. Unfortunately no one came by to see how we were doing and no waitstaff could be found so I got my own salsa from the host stand. No drink refills, still no waiter. Finally we got our bill and then you have to go to the front to pay, they do offer a 5% credit if you pay cash. The restaurant and restrooms were clean.

Decided to try because I love trying all local food and being how I am new to Winterset - THEY HAD MARGARITAS!! The service was great so polite and tentative. We ordered beef the fajitas and the Texan fajitas and a few margaritas... The food came out piping hot and was good not the greatest I've ever had but good. The margaritas - I seen a review that said they weren't that great... THAT'S NOT TRUE!! Located in a cute downtown area, very friendly staff and a large menu... options for everyone! Ordered the paloma (pictured) and was surprised by how big the mug was, good flavor but could use more alcohol as it was pretty sweet. We ordered the chorizo nachos, mild wings, and the rodeo burger. The nachos had why to many jalapeños on them. The waitress made the remark “ oh they did it again and put to many on” instead of asking us to take it back to have no one’s made she walked away laughing. The wings were cold and the rodeo was just the cheeseburger no bbq sauce or OR. We sit there for a while and the waiters never came to see if everything was ok.

Me and the wife tried them again yesterday after a few years. The food was excellent! Our server was excellent. And we left happy. The prices were surprising. I expected to pay more! Arrived at 10am on a Tuesday morning for breakfast. 3 other booths occupied. Sat myself and waited.
Super nice server eventually came and dropped off a water and menu. I ordered a combo with sausage, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Ordered my hashbrowns extra crispy with some cheese melted on them.
Waited another 35 minutes for food to come out, and they forgot my hashbrown request. By that time I didn't have time for a redo. Since they forgot to make the hashbrown crispy and add cheese, I needed catsup for my babied tastebuds.
Everything tasted fine. Eggs were cooked as ordered, generous portions, nice and hot.
Am I picky or fast paced to think that was too long for a simple breakfast to be prepared? Everyone else already had their food in the restaurant, and no to go orders came through in the hour+ I was there.
Bill was $9- so awesome price. Maybe will try again on a lazy morning.

Biscuits were made fresh and the sausage gravy was as near as my grandmas I’ve ever had at a restaurant!! Over easy eggs were cooked correctly. Coffee was very good. I hate going to a restaurant and feeling like an annoyance. The food was good and the blond lady who greeted us was very friendly and smiling. The brunette was not. She made me feel like I was seriously bothering her by being here. We ordered off the menu and we're friendly to her. She never smiles and spoke very curtly. Even though the cook was very good I will not come back here. I don't like being treated like an irritation. Not a pleasant breakfast experience.

They had a good crowd so service was slow.

By far, the worst “Chinese” food I’ve ever had.
The egg drop soup broth had an orange color, when it should be clear with a yellow hue. The soup had corn, peas, and carrots in it - anyone can tell you these are non-existent in egg drop soup.
I ordered the cashew chicken, a side of fried rice, and crab rangoon.
The cashew chicken was more minced garlic than anything else.
The fried rice was short grain, almost like couscous - no vegetables (they likely are what wound up in the soup), and not a HINT of sesame oil.
As far as the crab Rangoon goes - good luck finding any crab. If you love ground pepper however - this is for you!

We were looking for lunch in Winterset and every place that maps took us to was either closed or out of business. I asked a resident for suggestions and she suggested Montrose Pharmacy lunch counter. At 76 years of age, it had been a long time since I'd seen a lunch counter in a pharmacy. So, it was nostalgic. This Pizza Hut makes me happy every time I stop. Not able to make it often, but when I do come out fat and happy.
I had a good old pan pizza on this visit and it was cooked perfectly. Short staffed, yet completely offer solid customer service despite that.
Total for a medium pan pizza with 4 toppings and extra cheese, and a pop was $18.50. A normal human would have gotten 4 meals out of that but I am no normal human! 2 giant meals for me. 😁

We were not greeted or given a menu. When someone finally did come to our table we were walked away from before finishing and not asked about drinks. Took over an hour and a half for us to get all of our food. Only bringing part of it at a time. Our wings were not fully cooked, messed up on one pizza and came out to ask a few times what the rest of our order was as they were trying to make it. Didn't see anyone wash their hands and they didn't use gloves. (Didn't realize that until someone else called them out on that.) It did look like it was only 2 people working however they didn't seem to know what they were doing. Very disappointed.

There was 2 couples waiting for food when we walked in. We sat down. Waitress was cleaning of 2 tables. She continued to clean off 2 tables. Took another 10 minutes. Then she went to the kitchen. After waiting 25 minutes to order we got up and got our menu ourselves. Went to get drinks, no silverware. This was one of the tastiest lunches I've ever had! The Madison County Chamber of Commerce recommended we visit here on a daytrip to the area. Evidently, the restaurant owners operate five restaurants in the area, including Urban Taproom and Grille and The Urban Grill.
We started with the French Onion Bruschetta, which was very tasty and unique. For our meals, we had the Shrimp Tacos, Spaghetti & Meatballs, and the Steak Deburgo. Our favorite was definitely the Steak Deburgo, which was incredibly tender with an amazing flavor. We finished with the Creme Brule and something like a chocolate mousse cake, which was not on the menu. They definitely hit the spot. The whole meal was fantastic!
The service was exceptional. I think our server's name was Ashley and she was super friendly and helped us navigate the menu. Our son insisted on the spaghetti, but we otherwise pretty much let her choose our foods. She did not disappoint!
We will definitely stop in here for lunch or dinner the next time we're in town. It will be hard to not order that Steak Deburgo, though!!!

The food was very well done- the Inside out Crab Rangoon was a favorite, the Steak Deburgo was nicely done, the chicken in the chicken and Brussels was fork tender and the risotto paired perfectly with the hollandaise. Stopped in on a trip through Winterset on our way to Des Moines. Urban on the Square was right off the main road through town and lives up to its name! The restaurant was right in the square across from the County Courthouse. We were able to secure curb parking right outside and were met with an urban but inviting interior. I believe our server was new/in training but that didn’t dampen the great service we received while we indulged in appetizers, entrees and even desserts. Their serving sizes were oversized, considering we were there for lunch. Their desserts especially we could have easily split one among the four of us present. Overall, the experience was great and we would definitely dine there again if we’re in the area!

I had the blueberry bash martini it was really good. We also had the crab ragoon dip, yum is all I can say. We loved this place! We had Maggie as our server and she was very sweet and attentive. I had the raspberry mule, which was delicious. Husband tried the Winterset Wheat and the Goody Goody brews. He enjoyed both of them as they weren’t very hoppy. He had the Italian grinder and said it had some kick but was very good. I had the fish tacos and would order them again. We both really liked the fries! They’re different than anything we’ve ever had. The shape of steak fries but super thin. And loads of them! We would certainly eat here again if in the area!

This McDonalds is a pretty new location. Nice looking building and outside grounds.
Plenty of parking and good amount of handicap parking.
Inside the floor is dirty with foot prints all over. Food on the floor tables and seating not clean. I was in the facility for breakfast from 9am till almost 10am.
No staff ever cleaned a table or picked up food off the floor. It is just not clean! Like they are under staffed or they don’t care or maybe both?
I ordered a well done big breakfast - it took 17 minutes and only the eggs were well done. The ticket clearly shows the well done big breakfast designation.
No honey or jelly out or given for the biscuit. I had to ask for it. Also , there is no fountain to get your own drink or refill it. ?!

There was a little wait getting someone to take my order. Seems like they are low in staff. The person that took my order was super nice tho. We ordered a double quarter and meat was medium rare I would say not cooked all the way. A few fries weren’t cooked all the way through. This place is a disaster. I wish I could be nicer about it. It has cute toys and some fun local things and baked goods and I wanted them to succeed. But they have the worst supply chain issues I’ve ever seen. The candy bins are mostly empty, the deli has shut down probably forever, and the chocolates case is usually closed too. They never had the free ice cream they have a huge banner for (I think they did once or twice but never when I’ve been in). This store has a lot of good ideas poorly executed and it makes me sad. We are extremely frustrated with Dutch Country General Store. We placed an order for an Amish built poly table and paid $967 in February 2023 for delivery in 4 to 6 weeks. It is now July and we have been ghosted by customer service and the CEO, Levi Good. The one time I received a return call, Good promised we would have our table by the end of June and now they won't respond. We understand delays, but broken promises and lies are not acceptable. We are trying to get an acknowledgement for our order cancellation and refund, but apparently not responding is part of their strategy. We never dreamed we'd have problems like this.
