The Patee House Museum, located in St Joseph, MO, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Once the headquarters of the Pony Express and a Civil War Union outpost, it now showcases an impressive collection of Western artifacts. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the past with its rich historical significance and has been featured on various television programs. Built in 1858 as a hotel, this multi-story gem provides visitors with an immersive experience that goes beyond its association with the Pony Express.
We enjoyed it greatly. Lots of historical artifacts from the history of the museum and the town of St. Joseph of course. If I recall correctly there was 3 flrs to the museum area. There was an elevator but not sure if it was in service as we walked up the staircase which there are two. Plenty of history information of famous visitors to the hotel, and displays of early communication, travel, crime & services in Joseph, Mo.. really nice and very inexpensive. There's even a train in the building and a carousel you can ride. I rode the Go-rilla on it, the wife road the shark I belive and the 17yr old grandkid rode the Pegasus.
Mark C — Google review
This place has everything- full locomotive, an entire house indoors, and a large ball of string. The stairs are terrifying, more so because of the placard signifying where a poor soul fell to their death, but the elevator got stuck during our visit so recommend the stairs. I really did enjoy this museum, but it was almost *too* big and overwhelming. Someone approached the front desk while we were there to ask if it was appropriate for kids. I think kids would love to run through the streets of St. Jo exhibit, the locomotives, carousel, and saloon. However there isn’t anything hands on for kids to do except for a “what doesn’t fit” game, which elementary kids might enjoy.
Erika J — Google review
The Patee House Museum and old Pony Express Office is one of the finest old west museums we have ever visited. This place is huge and packed full of great items. The building is the Old Patee House Hotel and the third floor is retained as the original rooms. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the exhibits are just great.
Louis E — Google review
I loved this museum! It reminds me of the Smithsonian American history museum in Washington D.C. So many excellent displays and artefacts. Their was a huge train engine, a replica stagecoach, Pony Express office, antique fire trucks and cars, little historic shops, antique toys, telephones, antique tools, etc. You can't really see the museum in just one visit. There were only a few people when I visited that day, which surprised me given the low price of admission and historic treasures here. I will return to see more!
Maura — Google review
Self-guided tour so you can go at your own pace. Ample information placards that explain what is being seen and why it's significant. Great variety of displays. This is an amazing and well curated museum.
Robert P — Google review
We happened across the Patee House Museum when in town and loved it... this place is amazing and so much fun... The carousel is antique and hand carved... and it is still in running order... offering rides... Rhe first floor is amazing offering many antique items from the period... there was so much to see we did not finish the first floor... Since there is a second and third floor full which I understand are amazing as well we will definitely be back next time we are in the area...
Rhonda B — Google review
Awesome museum! Nice train and cute carousel. And three floors of displays inside an epic hotel!
Julie P — Google review
Staff ruined the experience! Very rude! My 11 year old attempted to ask a question to the older lady at the front reception and was was ignored. When we got back to the carousel, no staff was there to operate it. We did as the sign said and go to the front desk and ask for assistance. The quite elderly man who was sent to assist us acted very annoyed that he had to do this. Later on, that same eldely man proceeded to turn the lights out, completely pitch dark, in the area of the museum we were in, and when we found our way in the dark to the exit, he was shutting the doors!!! My kids were scared and thought we're were going to be trapped in this dark, scary, place. Mind you, the museum still had 10 minutes before close when this occurred! When my husband asked the older man to please let us get out and that we thought we still had 10 minutes. He very rudely said, we don't have time to wait until close, and that it takes a long time to shut this place down! We drove almost an hour away from home to visit this museum and our time was cut short and ruined by staff! This museum was not free, we paid in full x4 people to visit. Wish we could have used our last 10 minutes of time, that we paid for, to see the rest of the exhibit we were exploring. Too bad, because there was lots of neat history items to see there.

The Pony Express National Museum in St. Joseph, MO is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It offers exhibits that detail the legendary cross-country mail delivery service via horse and rider in the 1860s. In addition to this museum, visitors can also explore other historical sites and museums such as the Patee House Museum, Glore Psychiatric Museum, Jesse James Home Museum, St Joseph Museum, and Robidoux Row Museum.
Amazing museum. They have awesome first hand accounts from the riders which was one of my favorite things. The movie is cool too. I loved trying out the saddles and Machias. The well was cool too. Kid would love doing the souvenir penny, the kids room, and the rubbing. The Stamps are cool too!
Jillian S — Google review
The Pony Express National Museum is a hidden treasure that brings one of the most legendary chapters of American history to life. From the moment you step inside, you're transported back to 1860, when brave young riders risked everything to deliver the mail across the frontier. The exhibits are immersive, well-designed, and packed with fascinating artifacts and stories. You get a real sense of the grit, danger, and determination it took to ride for the Pony Express. The museum does a wonderful job blending education and entertainment—it’s perfect for both adults and kids. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the history they’re preserving. Whether you're a history buff, a fan of the Old West, or just looking for something unique to explore, this museum is well worth the visit. Don’t miss it when you’re in St. Joseph!
Harvey F — Google review
The Pony Express National Museum is a really fine collection of memorabilia from the brief life of the Pony Express and inside the original building where it was operated. This is a great collection and the museum is run by knowledgeable and helpful people. There was far more here than we expected and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Louis E — Google review
Cute little museum! A little expensive for how small it is, but the kids play space was wonderful! My kids ages 1 to 13 all had fun and played for about half an hour. Some very nice information and visuals, plus great interactive displays for kids and adults. Plus, there's a nice little playground right across the street.
Kathryn B — Google review
Great place to learn about how our country grew and met the communication needs of those who were moving west. Buckling Station is in Weeks Nevada...a town that is so small the name is on both sides of the same sign 😀
BL W — Google review
A really cool museum on the history of the Pony Express! We didn't originally have this on our itinerary but decided to stop when we had some time to fill and I'm so glad we did. The museum is packed with info using unique and interactive exhibits. There is a fun scavenger hunt game for the kids and a really cool children's area. Don't pass up this museum if you're in St. Joe!
Sarah T — Google review
Great small single purpose museum. Guided tours provide plenty of information.
Robert P — Google review
How the WEST was won, communication. Before the telegraph spanned the continent there was the 10 day Letter maIl system from St. Joe, MO to Sacramento CA. Young men 14-20 rode horses to carry the mail at a price much higher than we pay for post today

Glore Psychiatric Museum

Mentioned on

Museum
Specialty Museums
Located in St. Joseph, Missouri, the Glore Psychiatric Museum is a unique attraction that offers a fascinating look into the history of mental health treatment. Originally established in 1874 as St. Joseph's State Lunatic Asylum No. 2, this museum is housed within the former surgery and outpatient building of the hospital. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of surgical tools, equipment, and artwork created by asylum patients.
A friend recommended Glore Psychiatric Museum to us while we were down in Atchison. What a fantastic museum. I was intrigued the minute we walked in. The video at the beginning was so informative and seeing all the different types of mental health therapy in the past was, well, shocking! We were on a time crunch so we went through it a little fast but I will definitely visit again at a slower pace to take it all in.
Kim B — Google review
So my school offers us to go for extra credit, I had no idea this was a place until my school told me about it. Let me tell you the guided tour was amazing! You learn so much about mental health and how far we have come. I brought my kiddos and they are decently little, they were entertained and kept busy with all the tings to look at and do. They incorporate new age with old age and it is very much so well worth the go. They also have an optical illusion bathroom that you need to make a pit stop at! The wall will get ya!
Kaci — Google review
Amazing place with an equal amount of incredible history! Very impressive collection of photos and personal stories that make up the storied history and brutal nature of lunatic asylums. The displays are fantastic along with very vivid descriptions of what each piece of equipment was utilized for. A must see if you're in St Joe! Also included is the native American exhibit and black archives which are equally interesting and filled with amazing history.
Travis G — Google review
The Museum had a lot of information on outdated practices and where some research stemmed from. The basement where the morgue was, definitely freezing. There was a lot to look at.
Deniece B — Google review
So this is a little different. Recently I visited the Glore Psychiatric Museum during a class trip; the institution was beautiful. Our tutor guide, Sarah was very knowledgeable in her studies around the entire building and beyond the surrounding areas. Highly recommended coming here if bored in ST Joseph Missouri this place will really put into perspective why the rest of the state calls this city their ghost town of the state. For how cramped this place was everywhere I looked there was something new to be studied as I stared in awe of these magnificent exhibits.
Elijah H — Google review
You'll see much more here than the history of psychiatric treatment. There are exhibits of Native Americans and black history. They also have many random exhibits. It's a cool place to spend a few hours.
Cristi H — Google review
Very interesting exhibits. There are more than just psychiatric exhibits. There are black and American Indian heritage exhibits from the St. Joe are. It was all very interesting to read about and see!
Jennifer L — Google review
I've been wanting to visit for years and we finally got around this weekend and it was worth it. The exhibits were visually appealing and informative. I want to go back for the ghost hunt on Halloween. The tour is self lead so you can go at your own pace.

Historical place museum
The Jesse James Home Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri holds historical significance as the former residence of the infamous outlaw Jesse James. It was at this Greek Revival-style, one-story house that James was fatally shot by Robert Ford on April 3, 1882. The museum showcases items owned by Jesse James, his wife, and children. Visitors can explore the room where he died and gain insight into his life and times. The museum offers a fascinating journey through history with original artifacts on display.
The Jesse James Home Museum is the original home where Jesse James lived with his family and where he was murdered. The home was moved from another spot in Saint Joseph to here to preserve it. The museum is loaded with personal effects and the gentleman in charge is super interested and informative. A really interesting experience.
Louis E — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the Jesse James house and museum in St Joseph. The volunteer was very informative and the displays and arterfacts were outstanding. The original site of the home is located several blocks away. It is located at 1318 Lafayette street and I have included a photo of the site.

This is a great museum ! There are lots of great artifacts & and it's just really cool to be standing in this house! If you're a fan of history, Wild West & Jesee James! You'll love this museum & a great price of $5! Also the staff was very knowledgeable & friendly!
Richey- P — Google review
It was like being in a spaceship and going back in time. We loved it. Saint Joseph is full of history.
Sarah L — Google review
Old and creepy museum but very interesting, only 5 dollars to in, and 2nd museum hidden behind 🥰🇺🇸
Rouviere S — Google review
Well worth the time and money. So much history in a very small house. But, it goes well beyond just the James family and has displays of his body being exhumed to check DNA. It is him in the grave. A history of his family and especially his mother.
Steven S — Google review
If you love the old west, this is a must visit! As this is the famous outlaw Jesse James actual home, where he was shot, and killed! The location of his home doesn't sit in it's original place. But still a very exciting place to visit! Well, if you're an old west nut like myself, it's very exciting.
Sinister B — Google review
From the second you walk up, your pumped up to go inside. Though its very small. Its big enough to tell the story. You get a voice over tutorial of what happened in the house so long ago. Tons of parking and east access. The hole in the wall were Jesse James was shot and a replica of his skull is a very cool but eerie thing to see. Kid friendly and cost is 4.00 a person to go through the house. Well worth every penny. Highly recommend a visit.

Really nice place to go for a hike or picnic. Beautiful views. A must stop during Christmas time for not only the awesome lights but really good funnel cakes too.

I met my biological dad at this park this week!! He definitely knows the most beautiful places in St Joseph.

Found quite spot to have picnic. Trash was visible restrooms out of order motorcycles loud. Loud music from passing cars. Extremely loud.park was small. But worked for what I needed. Spend time in shade. Eat read do budget. Plot next course.
Christian H — Google review
Beautiful park, definitely worth visiting! Excellent place to take pictures, to go fishing with the kids, to get some hiking or biking in, to drive around and relax, or to have a picnic. The castle is super cool, driving underneath it was an awesome surprise! The steps are not super steep, so its a good place to walk around if you have bad knees.
Heather A — Google review
Beautiful, unique park. Our family stopped here on our way through to SD. We enjoyed exploring the ruins and structures and walking up to the waterfall. The bathrooms are basic but they were clean. The pavilion and playground both looked nice, too. Highly recommend for spending a few hours or for a quick stop.
Jennifer N — Google review
Nice place to fish and also do parties.
Raj N — Google review
One of the most beautiful parks I've ever been to. Huge and varied, with history going back to the 1920’s. It has seen better days, and the children's playground equipment has been taken down (probably because it was 30 feet tall in some places, and completely made out of rusting metal) which is a shame because when I was a kid, it was the most fun someone could have in a playground. Despite that it's still an almost ethereal experience, and you can see the past in its bones. Hopefully this park will continue to be here for generations to come.
Blake W — Google review
Water is looking awfully green & gross. And why is everyone feeding the damn geese everyday. It's gross. So much shit everywhere and on the sidewalks. Wish someone would clean thos place up. Could be a nice park. But I guess nowadays ppl just like filthy and trashy places.

The Remington Nature Center in St. Joseph is a great place for families and nature enthusiasts to explore the area's history and natural beauty. The center offers educational exhibits on wildlife, habitats, and conservation efforts, as well as scenic views of the Missouri River from its observation deck. Visitors can enjoy activities such as treasure hunts and exploring an enormous aquarium.
This place is phenomenal! It was one of those super random stops that my sister and I had made when we were waiting for our Airbnb to open. We had no idea what to expect, no idea what in the world we were getting into.... Seriously, I highly recommend this place. I realistically wish I had taken more pictures. It was so much fun. I had no idea that all the stuff we saw was going to be packed into such a building!! Of course they have taxidermy, as well as a few living animals. But they also have a ton of interactive places where you can press a button and hear the wildlife associated with whatever animal you just saw. Animal bones, gigantic fish tank. HOWEVER!!! My favorite part out of all of it, as soon as we walked in, the people at the service desk let us know that there was a scavenger hunt. You had to find 12 stickers of a turkey vulture. Not only that! The lady told me that they change up the game every single month!!!! And there are prizes! As we walked through the building, checking out everything that we possibly could, there was also a cave entrance, of course it was man-made, however, it showed life through history. Also with interactive buttons, where you could hear what it might have been like! They had wax figures, and various settings of what it would be like for cavemen, and the first folks for pioneer age. If I lived in this town, you better believe I would be here every single month!!!

Nice little spot to learn about history down by the Missouri River. I've been to several museums like this one and like those spots better.
Kaleb H — Google review
Was a really cool place to go through. Wheelchair friendly, definitely a kid friendly place. Many selfie places as well as lots of pictures to take. We spent a lil over an hour in there. Staff was super nice. A beautiful scenery, the river is litterly right outside, and has walking trail to walk.
Casey — Google review
This place is truly one of the best gems in Saint Joseph. We have been bringing my daughter here once a month for nearly three years and it never gets old. The location is right next to the Missouri River and has a gorgeous view. There is a lovely little porch with chairs and picnic tables. The center provides binoculars and books to help identify local birds. My daughter loves the huge fish tank display of native fish. She also enjoys the tortoises and the snakes in the Snake Room. They are almost always having a scavenger hunt for the kids with prizes. Personally, I enjoy browsing the reading material in the little store and have bought several books. There is a very detailed exhibit on the history of Saint Joseph which is really interesting. It includes details that I have not read about anywhere else. So if you enjoy history, you should definitely pay this place a visit.
Elexia P — Google review
I visited on free museum day in Sept 2023. I had never heard of this place, but it is a gem! It is an incredibly kid friendly place. All the displays are at kid eye level, easy to read the plaques, and very interactive. There are taxidermy creatures from within the area, facts about Missouri statehood symbols (who knew we have a state horse) and a walk through Saint Joseph from all eras. It was really really cool! I also loved the reptile & axotle room (and like any true Millennial, I tried to speak parsletongue to the snakes.) Great lil gift shop and a beautiful view of the Missouri River. I saw so many families enjoying themselves today and it makes me incredibly happy ❤️
Aubrey A — Google review
Another fantastic place for kids! They have a scavenger hunt, with little "prizes" for finding everything. They will give hints if you're having trouble finding some items. The exhibits have detailed info on everything. It took us about 2 hours to go through, mainly because the kids were doing the scavenger hunt. There's also a nature trail, but it was way too hot for us today (high 90's F). The center is situated beside the Missouri River. Plenty of parking, & the casino is across the street.
Trish D — Google review
We stumbled across this great outdoor space while driving to Kansas City … if you have pets or children … or need any excuse to get out and stretch, this is a beautiful alternative to the run of the mill rest stop. The public bathrooms are port a potties, but very clean.

I'm 6'4" tall and I know that the building was built in 1927 and looks great, the seats are really close for me. When I sat I had to be careful not to hit the lady in front of me with my knee. Not a complaint just letting you know. Great place bathroom was nice and clean. Seats were comfortable to sit on. People were kind and friendly to help us find our seats.
Darren S — Google review
I used to go to this theater when I was a young girl and black and could only sit in the balcony. It was so powerful to see the theater still stands in all its glory and I was able to sit up front second row center. Went to see the play Walk on Water it was very good experience about slavery in Missouri. The place is well kept.
Peggy B — Google review
What a beautifully interesting place. EnJOYed WetheKingdom here. Old, charming, intimate, & nicely kept theater in downtown St Joe. Bathrooms seem newly renovated. Ushers and such were warmly welcoming. Definitely recommend taking in a show here.
Stephanie B — Google review
This is a beautiful theater. Although small it is amazingly built with old style craftsmanship. The seats are small, so if you are a larger person, they are not comfortable.
Scott P — Google review
You will be amazed at how beautiful this theater is.... The additional modern restrooms were a pleasant surprise. If you get a chance see some event here. We have been three time and are always amazed at it's beauty and history
Stephanie A — Google review
The theater is still beautiful. We were in the upper part of the theater, the bad part was that a video screen hung down and most of the video was blocked by it. 🫩

1st time at the theater. A neat old venue with comfortable seats. Smaller than I anticipated which provided great stage views. Sound system was very good. Restrooms were very nice. I hope to return for another event.

Casinos & Gambling
St. Jo Frontier Casino offers a variety of gambling options including slot machines, table games, and a buffet restaurant. Entertainment is available on weekends. The casino has themed nights with free ice cream and chances to win prizes. It is generally clean with good food and complimentary soda. However, alcoholic beverages come at an additional cost. Some patrons may occupy machines without playing them which can be a downside for others looking to gamble.
Loved it. I had $80 to bet but decided to not risk my $80. However my brother told me we're wouldn't leave until I bet the whole $80. I put all my money in a slot machine at entrance and ended up winning $300. I was pretty happy.

The casino in St. Joseph is a decent stop if you’re passing through. The floor has a good variety of slots and table games, and the staff keeps things friendly and professional. It’s not the biggest casino out there, but it’s kept clean and well run. Food and drinks are solid, and the atmosphere is laid back enough to enjoy yourself without feeling overcrowded. A good place to unwind for a bit if you’re in town.
SABRINA H — Google review
Don't complain about this place or they'll take you upstairs into a small office, and not let you leave after asking them several times if you're "free to go" . Then they tell you "you're not detained", but if you walk out of the office you'll be arrested for trespassing in the hallway. What a joke. Way to violate someones civil rights St JOE Frontier Casino and your hired thugs, Missouri State Police...

So, you walk in, and get ID’d, ok. They ask you of you “want a wristband”? The wristband verifies you're “of age” to be inside the gambling zone and noone else of staff should need to bother you for your ID because youve been verified already, right? Ok, so my friend and I sit down at the 1 of 2 blackjack tables they have and they instantly want to check her ID…. (yeah she is young and looks young, yet she IS 21 AND HAD HER ID CHECKED AT THE DOOR, and GIVEN A WRISTBAND. Sweet! Right? No, security and the GM come over and say “hey, we cant let her play bc theres a crack in her ID, and if we have to pay her out, we have to submit her ID and the state wont accept that”…… i said, “ok, but weve also already gotten drinks from the bar”…… (so, she has the wristband, got a drink from the bar, sat down at the table and exchanged $100 for chips already) the response was, “well the bar is ‘separate’ so thats different from the tables’”……. OK, so we go to the bar, get ANOTHER drink, i put another $100 bill in the bar games and we are appproached by security again telling us “yeah we looked further into it and yall gotta leave the premises”………. TELL ME HOW THAT WORKS. YOU CREATED A SYSTEM THAT IS FAILING YOU… The security that gave us the wristbands initially at the front didnt even know what was happening when we were walking out, so that tells me the security/GM didnt even tell him he was messing up, they literally just didnt like us and kicked us out. The place obviously hires people with little to no experience and will never succeed with this type of hospitality or whatever they wannna call it. Ive never been somewhere where the problem was created by the staff, the customers complies and then theyre kicked out. Tell me how that works. NEVER GOING BACK AND ILL TELL EVERYONE I EVER MEEET THAT THIS PLACE IS A JOKE OF A BUSINESS. St Joe, you can do so much better, GOOD GOD
Daniel N — Google review
Went to the “Better than ever buffet” on Friday night around 7 pm. As soon as you walk in the smell of cigarettes is overwhelming. The food was not good. My party of three struggled to find anything worth writing about. The staff was not friendly, choices were very few at the entire buffet. Salad bar was gross, the sweet tea was good. Will not return or recommend.
Krystal C — Google review
I'm honestly not a big gambler however I take care of a lady who likes the gamble so we go there in the afternoon have a good time it's always clean even though people smoke in there but you get free drinks the duration while you're there non-alcoholic tea and water but overall I recommend it it's pretty good. Also the staff is very nice and it have been friendly every time we went

I honestly do not know how anyone hits at this casino? Spare yourself if you are not from around this area. Trust me when I say this is one of not the worst experiences you will have. I know just like any casino some people can win but many, many, many do not. You might as well burn your money as soon as you walk in the door. It’s not fun, you do not get the sense that you even have a chance to keep playing or win. There are much better casinos elsewhere. Go to Kansas. It’s a drive but it’s so much better than this. OMG it’s horrible, and it’s horrible every single time you go. If you want to just put your money in without a chance in hell of actually hitting anything. Go here it’s fabulous if that’s your thing. Or if you want to bet $7.50 and when $20 (maybe) on a bonus. Please stop by!

We generally stop here 2 or 3 times a month and previous experiences have been fine. And actually playing blackjack was nice, friendly dealers, and had alit of fun. However, we stopped late Tuesday night arrived at 1:30. As we approached the door security comes and starts locking the doors. Hours are stated to 10-2 AM. HE SAW US, and just locked the doors, smirking. I called and was told they can’t let anybody in after 1:30 because they close at 2. Whaat a way to run business, and they was rude!

Sights & Landmarks
The Pony Express Memorial, located at the intersection of 9th and Frederick Streets in St. Joseph, Missouri, is a bronze statue commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Pony Express. Unveiled in 1940, this monument features a horse and rider sculpted by renowned artist Hermon A MacNeil. Surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, it stands as a tribute to the daring riders who risked their lives for adventure and the greater good.
We enjoyed the Pony Express Memorial in the town where the express originated. The emotions in the face of the rider and the stress in the muscles of the horses are very telling. There are also several plaques at the site which give a lot of historical information.

The Walter Cronkite Memorial, located on the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, is a tribute to the life and career of renowned journalist Walter Cronkite. As one of the most influential journalists of the 20th century, Cronkite's memorial offers interactive kiosks and wall displays that provide visitors with an immersive experience into his personal and professional life.
The Walter Cronkite memorial was very cool I didn't know they had such a thing. Being that I live 4 hours away it's going to be kind of hard to have the rest of my children see what I saw. I hope the pictures do justice for everybody that sees this post.

Passing through and took a break checking out this free admission museum for an American icon who reported on a number of historic moments in the 20th century from WW 2 in Europe where he was attached to 101st Airborne. I enjoyed the display where you could watch his broadcast on a number of events followed by his recollections during later interviews (JFK and John Lennon assignations, Vietnam and Tet ‘68 coverage) Nice display of his awards and Emmys and desk from the CBS studios.
Paul G — Google review
Very interesting ! Loved listening to him back in the day.
Kaye M — Google review
I was surprised at how good the exhibit was the first time I saw it. Even if you are too young to remember what a great broadcaster he was, the videos and displays are fascinating and give an interesting overview of history. I loved the reproduction of the original broadcast booth, where you can have your picture taken sitting at the desk, and the actual television camera from CBS. It is free and worth a visit.
Kathy W — Google review
No admission fee. We enjoyed the timeline of photos, plus the many video clips about Walter's work and family. The mock newsroom with the TV camera "selfie" was fun.
Nancy W — Google review
Fantastic museum dedicated to an American icon. Features the CBS studio where Mr. Cronkite delivered the nightly news along with his personal and professional history. Of you're a Cronkite fan, allow hours because you can become fully engulfed in history. Highly recommend
Kerri E — Google review
Worth a visit for sure. Free admission.

It was tough to figure out where the memorial was because tall trees covered up the signs. When you pull onto the campus it will be right in front of you! Turn into the parking lot on your left and walk across the street to the building. Inside is a very nice tribute to him with lots of pictures and some videos. Plan to stay close to an hour. I think I counted 9 of his 11 Emmys there. You can tell that not only the news was important to him but he was very dedicated to his family ad well.

Restaurant
Il Lazzarone Neapolitan Pizzeria is a trendy restaurant and bar in St Joseph, known for its authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. The pizzeria has gained recognition for being the only certified Neapolitan pizzeria in the area by the American Delegation of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. The emphasis on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and an open-plan kitchen where customers can witness their pizza being prepared adds to the dining experience.
This place is always a delight. The service is great, and the woodfired pizza is excellent. They also have a nicely curated beer and wine selection. The patio seating out back is wonderful, especially on an evening with perfect weather.
Elle S — Google review
A slightly upscale pizzeria. The decor is underwhelming but the staff is friendly and accommodating. I grade a pizza by its crust and I can give a mixed review here. The outside crust was excellent but the center was soggy. If you are a fan of the thin, crispy, Italian style crust, try the Pane appetizer

Messed up my pizza and gave me a free one. It great not to go for pizza at a national chain. Local businesses. Great service great pizza

Stopped in for lunch at Il Lazzarone in St. Joe and had the Margherita pizza—absolutely incredible. Perfect crust, fresh ingredients, and that real wood-fired flavor that’s hard to find. You can tell they care about the craft. If you’re into legit Neapolitan pizza, this place is a must. Can’t wait to come back!

Exquisite experience in renovated 1891 Victorian home/restaurant Celebrated a special birthday with friends here. The gourmet meals were superb and delicious made by a classically trained chef.. It was if you were eating artwork off your plate. The salmon was roasted and served over a delicious corn pudding. The seasoned vegetables were not only delectable but were beautiful in presentation & color. The filet mignon was so tender & surrounded with amazing potatoes and a seasoned vegetable medley. The museum quality of the Victorian home was breathtaking from details on the ceiling to the Victorian era furniture. So cozy with soft lightening and elegant decor that creates a perfect setting for any special occasion. The beauty and museum quality was something out of a magazine. My brother & wife along with me & my husband enjoyed a phenomenal meal here this week. Who would think one could find a Times Square quality restaurant in St. Joseph, Mo.? We all have traveled worldwide & after much discussion, we agreed that we'd never had a meal as delicious as this.
Roxanne B — Google review
Legitimately one of the most delicious meals we've had on a night out. Very warm and inviting atmosphere while still giving an air of exclusivity. Our table felt private despite other tables being nearby. The proprietor was really nice and took a few minutes to chat with us. Make your reservations early and call ahead to choose your main entree! Great place to make your date feel special. We'll happily return in the future.
John S — Google review
A dining experience that was phenomenal. We were a party of 8, and everyone was delighted. I had the filet with potatoes, vegetables and a roll with butter. The steak was perfect. The dessert trio was very delicious.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. It was our first time at this establishment and it did not disappoint! We wasn't sure what to expect with parking and other norms. Parking was in the street right in front of the building which helped me feel safe. The staff were genuine, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was quiet, romantic and intimate. We enjoyed the food along with its presentation. Very delicious and filling. The special happy anniversary touch in chocolate was very special. My favorite was the corn chowder.
Roni M — Google review
What an amazing place! The home is so beautiful and the food is 10 out of 5 stars, it is so amazing. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing hosts, and food! If you haven't been here, you need to! Definitely will be back soon!
Cindy W — Google review
I took my wife here for our anniversary and we had a lovely time. The experience is very intimate in sense of guests and seating. Before I get to the establishment I'd like to offer a couple considerations. Due to the limited amount of guest for the evening parking streetside right in front is easy. We did encounter some people that were patrolling the streets so make sure your situational awareness is turned on. You bring your own libations as they do not have their liquor license. We felt a bit awkward at first, but it's the norm here so that diminished quickly after arriving. When making reservations you will choose your entrees a few days ahead of time so plan accordingly. Now to the good stuff! Our table was one of four for the evening all set within a large entertaining room. The room itself is part of an old delightful restoration with a plethora of stories to be told every where you look. Our hosts were the right bit of a jovial refined bunch. My wife had the lamb and I the filet mignon, both were excellent and cooked to order. The dessert was sensation overload in a good way. All in all we had a delightful and unique experience.

Boudreaux's Louisiana Seafood & Steaks

Seafood restaurant
Boudreaux's Louisiana Seafood & Steaks is a vibrant eatery located in downtown St. Joseph, housed in a converted warehouse that exudes the charm of New Orleans. The menu boasts an extensive selection of Cajun dishes, including classics like gumbo, etouffee, and boudin. The restaurant's founder has deep roots in Louisiana, adding authenticity to the culinary experience.
During a day trip to St Joe in mid-May of 2025, a Google listing for seafood caught our eye. This is how we ended up at Boudreaux's Louisiana Seafood & Steaks. We ordered the Sexy Raz for a drink, the Fried Alligator for appetizer. The Broiled Red snapper with Dirty Rice and a Tuna steak with Potatoes Bordeaux for our entrees and finally the Bourbon pecan pie for dessert. The food had great flavor and the portions were adequate. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. And the prices were reasonable. Access to the building is a little of a mystery as the big signs are over doors that are marked as exit only. The main entrance is on the side street from the parking lot, with no signs at the time of our visit. I will place Boudreaux's in my list of places to return when I'm in the area.
Rafael F — Google review
I was really looking forward to dining here, especially since it was my first time. The atmosphere was great, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The young man who brought our food was excellent, but our waitress seemed disinterested and inattentive. We were seated at 5:30, but didn’t receive our food until 7:00. She didn’t check on us as frequently as she should have, and we had to ask twice about the status of our order. Meanwhile, other parties who were seated at the same time as us had already been served and left. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious, but the gumbo was disappointingly thin, and the pasta dish I ordered was overly soupy and definitely not worth the $17.99 I paid.
Kari C — Google review
I have been to Boudreaux's more times than I can count. The food has been excellent every time. They have recently relocated to a new building, and the food service seems to have slowed a little. The servers are still very attentive, and my drink never went empty. I miss the fantastic old school bar, but they seem to have decorated to a more modern New Orleans atmosphere. Overall the restaurant remains great!

Tuna steak was very good! Lainie, our waitress, was amazing! (I've been in the hospital for a week, and she made our lunch very pleasant! We missed seeing the old bar, but their new location is very nice! My husband had the super jambalaya, and he said 4 stars. He wished he had ordered the seafood jambalaya (seafood only). He said it was a LOT of food.

Can I give this place 10 stars? We were visiting St Joseph for a couple of days to visit some of the museums and was looking for something new to try for dinner. This place was amazing! The food and the service were fantastic! I had the blackened seafood platter. It came with a lemon butter sauce that was rich and delicious. I ordered a side of Cajun and seafood mashed potatoes that were so seasoned and so creamy.

Fredrick Inn Steakhouse is a classic restaurant and bar known for its pine-paneled walls and delicious steaks, seafood, and all-you-can-eat salad bar. Established in 1980, this old-school steakhouse offers an intimate, low-light atmosphere with exceptional service. It's renowned for its spinach salad, bread pudding, prime rib, hot beef, and fresh baked pies with unique flavors like butterscotch. The extensive menu caters to everyone including kids.
Prime rib was perfect and “divine.” The Kansas City strip was the “the best steak I’ve had in a long time” per my dining partner. Twice baked potato was just okay. Spinach salad was good (except fake bacon bits). But tasty and fresh. All in all, the meat was so wonderful that it is 5-star for me, based on that. I would love to come back…
Nikki W — Google review
The food was delicious!! My steak was cooked to perfection!! We had a party of 17 and the food all Came out at the same time and there was not one complaint. The salad bar was good. But those cinnamon rolls were amazing and came with the meal!!! 10/10. 100% will be back!!

We were traveling through from KC back to Omaha. Staff was amazing, food was like home cooking only I didn’t have to cook, and price was shockingly less than I anticipated!! If it’s a weekend they do recommend reservations but we sat at the bar and the bartender was as good as any waitress. Thanks for the hospitality. We will be back!!
Jamie K — Google review
The steaks were amazing! It was busy, but still very good service. We did make a reservation and it is helpful to do on a Friday night or Saturday night. The salad bar is fine. But the steaks were just incredible!
Terry T — Google review
A little of the beaten path (we are out of Townes just passing through) but worth it! Grilled cheese for the kid, ribeye for the hubby and salmon for me - all great! Meal served with hot rolls and hot cinnamon rolls. Two soups, made fresh daily available. Highly recommend.
Amanda — Google review
I had probably the most disappointing dinner that I've ever had in my life. This place gets hyped up very frequently around the city. 'Best steakhouse in town', 'very good food'. While the service was excellent, and the atmosphere fitting of a steakhouse (albeit, a little crowded) the food was tasteless. I felt like I used half the saltshaker on my food alone. I had fried potatoes, fried in what felt like water. The prime rib while moist, just had absolutely no real beef flavor you get from a traditional steak. The appetizer, the crab rangoon overcooked and hard to chew. I left full. Great portions, but didn't have any if that feel good, aftertaste from a good meal. Maybe a full house impacted good quality, or maybe it's always like this. But for the price, and for the taste....won't be back. Sorry, I gave it a try.
YieldToMe — Google review
Can't get enough of the Fredrick Inn Steakhouse! The service is so friendly, the salad/soup bar is ample and the food is perfectly cooked to order. The steaks, fried chicken, sweet and plain rolls are all perfect. Gotta try the catfish! The traditional local bar/pub/steakhouse ambiance is very welcoming. So many locals come back again and again. I would give more stars, if possible!
KayCee — Google review
Stopped in for lunch; very good food (but no cinnamon rolls served as advertised and the gravy was instant) but the service was a huge disappointment in terms of attentiveness and promptness. We were there at 12:30 pm. There were four other tables besides ours and it took an hour and a half to get served. No offer to refill our glasses until we were ready for the check. No return to the table to check on how the steak was cooked! The restaurant was clean. Not recommended for lunch.

Great little German restaurant. Feels like you stepped back in time. Very intimate dining with very authentic food. I had the Variety Plate which was one cabbage roll, one Polish sausage with coarse ground mustard, one Pierogi smothered in grilled crispy onions. Come with two sides, I chose hot German Potato Salad ( incredible!) and Red Cabbage which was also incredible. I don’t often rave about side dishes but these were great. All the food was fantastic and delicious. Service was friendly and excellent. Owner came out to see if we were satisfied; we were! Deserts looked really good but I was too full from the meal to indulge. Definitely on my list to eat at next time I return. It is definitely “Food Worth Stopping For”.

Total Gem!!!! We love German food and happened upon this treasure today. Tho we were 30min from close, Andy the owner and staff were completely accommodating. We ordered 5 dishes with sides and were blown away by the excellent flavor of the food. Our kids, 6 and 4, finished every bit of their lunch, which as you know can be a challenge to find kid friendly food. I highly recommend this family owned joint. The menu was simple and not overwhelming. All the old school German knick-knacks all over were fun. Definitely will be back.

My husband and I visited last weekend for brunch! The food was very delicious, you could tell it was made from scratch. It does take awhile to get your food, but I feel like that should be expected since they make it fresh. I usually don't like eggs Benedict, however my husband got it and it was delicious! Our server was very friendly, and he was able to answer any questions we had. We will be back soon, I want to try one of the themed dinners they have on Thursdays!

I visit this place when it was recently open, at the time I loved it. I move from St Jo. And wanted to come back ; finally did it. No disappointment, I love the slow pace, atmosphere is to relax and enjoy food, service is excellent and the food it was great, I fell like this is kinda farm to table. The menu is well thought and portions are reasonable. Personally I don’t like big appetizers or desserts I don’t think they should be another meal but to complement your main entree. This time my husband and I visited for his birthday getaway night. Perfect for slow down after long week…

The good: nice atmosphere, service, dessert was very nice. The not so good: portion size was small. It was like a sample plate of a meal. I had the beef medallions which were tiny, one roasted tomato (again very small), 3 pieces of asparagus and a portion of augraten potatoes that was about 2 fork fulls. It all tasted good but for the price I was hoping to not leave hungry. Had the Pecan Cake for dessert and that was right sized and very nice. I don't regret trying this place but I doubt I would go back again.

Came to the restaurant at 1:30 today. Male staff member was being extremely loud visiting with customer at bar- which disrupted the whole restaurant. Restaurant Review: Marco Polo 🍽️ Nestled in a quaint setting, Marco Polo offers a delightful dining experience. The impeccable service stood out, elevating the overall atmosphere. The appetizer showcased a commendable start, setting the stage for what was to come. However, it was the main course that stole the spotlight—fabulous flavors and expertly crafted dishes left a lasting impression. While the restaurant might be deemed "decent," I wholeheartedly recommend Marco Polo for those seeking a tasteful culinary adventure.

Wow, wow, wow! I can't say enough about Marco Polo. Best meal we've had in St Joe. They brought us toasted garlic naan bread (house made) with herbed olive oil with goat cheese for a starter. Delicious! Then we got a new dish that wasn't on the menu. I can't remember the name but it was a seafood stew with big shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari, and tomatoes all in a most unique savory broth that was rich and full of complex flavors. It was served with crispy wantons. OMG! The seafood was as fresh as any restaurant near the ocean and it was cooked perfectly. Excellent service. Great eclectic music. Thank you MP!

Came in today for a family meal. 6 group wait equated to about 22~ minutes. Chips and queso, honey crossaints, and onion tower as appetizers. I ordered the chicken pot pie, and it was delicious. Other members all got a steak with sides. A few mistakes were made - one steak with shrimp entry came with grilled shrimp of the requested fried shrimp. Another steak entry, asked for brown gravey, got white. All steaks were over peppered. No hugest deals but annoyances. The server didn't take any finished plates or glasses when we were done as courtesy bussing.

Got the sirloin and shrimp. Was pretty good. Steak was a little tough but not too bad. The little cup of sauce that came with it was awesome. Service was wonderful. Sat over in the bar area in a booth. Was pretty comfortable. Cool fish tank too.

We went immediately after attending the KC Chiefs training camp, so there was quite crowd! We were seated after less than a 5 minute wait. A server came within 2 minutes, and our meal arrived within 10 minutes. The food was absolutely excellent, and our server checked in with us often enough, but not too often. Overall, a great experience! If we lived in town, we'd definitely go there on a regular basis!

Fabulous food! It was a busy Friday night when we went, but we did feel forgotten about by our server.

This is the place to go if you wanted something in between 54th Street and Texas Roadhouse. The prices are not as much as the others, but definitely worth a meal. The baked potato is awesome, but not the fries which seem to be just reheated only. Otherwise, overall food experience is fine. Don't forget to tip a bit more so that the crew can all smile a bit more as well.

They had made reservations for a party of six adults and four children. We got there at six like they said and waited till seven then they came over after we asked what was going on. They said the server was cleaning off an area for us. All we waited another 15 minutes. We then again asked for the manager after discussing the issue he took us back walking through all the people and was separating our tables and we said no we want to at least sit all close together. So The manager took us back to the front of the waiting area and said it was gonna take even longer. Wasted there and watched people come in after we did and left before anything could be done with us. Why they couldn’t put two or even three tables together side-by-side is beyond me. This has happened a few times now this time I’m beyond fed up with this. It’s sad because their food is amazing. I cannot justify me going back again. Why even bother making a Why even bother making a reservation early in the day just to find out you can’t get in.And what’s even funnier we went to Olive Garden right next-door. They greeted us with a happy smile and pleasant atmosphere and they even sat us Down right away!

I came here for my 21st birthday, I tried to order a drink they checked my ID and said they couldn't serve me. I asked for the manager and he said my ID was fine. Even after they said my ID was fine I still never received my drink. Was a little disappointed that I couldn't celebrate my 21st with a nice cold margarita. Will not be eating here again.

Steak house
Texas Roadhouse is a lively steakhouse that offers American cuisine with a unique Southwestern twist. Located in St Joseph, this restaurant boasts Texas-themed decor and a retro indoor atmosphere. With over 600 branches worldwide, it stands out as a legendary eatery. The service is exceptional, and the quality of their steaks is outstanding. It's rare to come across such an excellent place that warrants taking the time to write a review.
My family flew in from different states for a wedding, and got together at the Texas Road House food was great drinks 🍸 were awesome. Absolutely had a great time. Service was good

I recently dined at Texas Roadhouse and had a fantastic experience that exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff made me feel right at home. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the food. The steaks were cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, just as I had hoped. The sides were equally impressive – the buttery rolls. Despite being busy, our server was attentive and efficient, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

I wasn't super impressed with the food or service. Our waitress came by MAYBE a total of 3 times. The food was okay, but I was expecting better for the price. My baked potato was really dry and my steak tasted like liver. They did replace my steak after the manager made me feel guilty for saying something. (I did offer for any of them to taste test it, but no takers.) I have been to the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Liberty, MO also and had a much better experience there.

Pleasantly surprised. I used to eat "corporate steaks" all the time while travelling for work. I had a ribeye and it was really good! Normally chain restaurants over season the meat to make up for inferior quality but not here. The meat was seasoned correctly and cooked correctly. Our server was wonderful and asked all the right questions. The Manager delivered our food and made sure that everything was served correctly before she left. Overall, great experience.

Placed a to go order online. Easy to order and pay. It was ready sooner than estimated, which is a good thing. The guy that brought the order to our car was friendly. Everything was very good. I wish there was some way they could keep selfish people from parking in the curbside pickup spots when they are not picking up an order.

We go to Texas Roadhouse often and enjoy the food! The steaks are tender and juicy. The salad is delicious and fresh. And we enjoy the hot rolls! The service is always great! However, the atmosphere is so loud that it makes it unpleasant to talk to our family and friends. We can barely hear each other. My husband said he doesn’t know if he can stand to go back…so, please turn down the music. We like music and fun, but it is too much.

Superb people served scrumptious victuals!! I ordered a 6 oz. sirloin steak which was perfectly grilled to a juicy medium. And my other family members enjoyed their burger and kabob meals. I dipped my steak fries into their homemade Ranch dressing--such a treat!!

We had Lacie as our waitress. She was amazing! So kind, kept checking on us, and make sure we had anything we needed. The restaurant was clean, the environment was great and the food was delicious!

Mexican restaurant
Sotelo Mexican Restaurant is a hidden gem with an unassuming exterior but offers authentic Mexican cuisine and excellent service. The owners, originally from Vera Cruz, bring their culinary expertise to the table. Locals highly recommend this spot for its flavorful dishes and generous portion sizes at reasonable prices. The menu features a variety of tacos, enchiladas, and sopapillas with strawberry ice cream that are all delicious.
Sotelo is the most authentic Mexican diner in St. Joseph. My wife ordered street tacos which were delectable. The carne asada is the best. I ordered the lunch fajita trio and the portions were very generous. Washing it all down with a Mexican Coca Cola was the proverbial icing on the cake.

Menudo was super good, and the homemade corn tortillas were amazing. If you in the St. Joe area looking for good mexican food give them a try. Oh yeah, chips and hot sauce are good.

This little place is a treat! Fresh and tasty food, large selection on the menu, Spicy if you like or savory, unique or traditional the chips and salsa are excellent, obviously a homemade recipe on the salsa which was great, service is super friendly. It's a cozy neighborhood restaurant feel with a big menu, it will surprise you ! Support these authentic hard working people !

This is TRULY my fav Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic Mexican. I’ve had several of the food on their menu and the Pina Veracruzana is my absolute favorite. We’ve always gotten our food served together and with kindness, speed and professionalism. I’d give Sotello’s 20 stars if I could.
Karen K — Google review
As far as food quality I'll give it a 4. It tastes homemade with a bit more attention to flavor vs other Mexican restaurants. The portions vs the price was a 5. And even though the place is small and not as appealing, I would visit again someday.
Rique L — Google review
I'm only reviewing the Menudo at this time. It is sooo good and the flavor is spot on. It's not really hot or spicy but the flavor is awesome. Comes with choice of corn or flour tortillas, limes and cilantro and onion. And i felt 100% better after eating this. 😋 The large is little spendy but worth it. $15.

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I could eat there everyday. Maria is the best and sweetest waitress ever! She remembers us by name every time. They need to improve the kitchen help so they are faster. Regardless, they are the best and are authentic to Mexican food.

I've been there several times now and I'm never disappointed. The food is wonderful and the staff friendly. It is one of my favorite places to eat in St. Joseph.

Airport
Kansas City International Airport is a bustling hub for both domestic and international flights, offering travelers free WiFi and a variety of dining options. Nearby attractions include the Legoland Discovery Center and the renowned National World War Museum, making it an ideal location for sightseeing. The airport also provides convenient access to local businesses and entertainment spots through its complimentary shuttle service. Additionally, the surrounding area boasts a strong sense of community in towns like Mulvane, which offers access to various amenities and leisure activities.
As far as airports go it’s not the largest nor is it the fanciest! Overall it was clean, relatively modern, and easy to navigate. The A terminal had plenty of seating, charging stations, and local food options. My favorite thing was the security personnel and the lines here move quickly for tight security checks ins. All signage was clear, definitely one of the more convenient airports to travel through.

Coming from the Austin airport and comparing to that, this is a very clean, quiet, and modern airport. There is a dark sensory room nestled in between the restaurants and Delta club. Brown & Loe is also a nice quiet spot (around 11am) where there are plenty of windows and sun, and you can watch B58 and see your plane come in (if you're sitting the right direction, of course). I found this airport to be much more pleasant than most for sensory reasons, and they have way less loud overhead announcements that are typical of airports. It's also not as echo-y because they have wood panels on the ceiling. Even the bathrooms are nice. Also, there are USB-C plugs for my android friends.

This airport is very clean and beautiful. TSA workers were really nice. The airport was very well organized the signs were clearly labeled. I had a late night arrival and the airport was nearly empty. It was eerie but nice at the same time. On my way back home, I had a very early flight (5:45 am), which was the perfect time to be there. It wasn't busy at all and I was the fist person in line to walk through security. I had a great experience and I can't wait to visit again

Kansas City’s new airport just works. Clean, easy to navigate, and the rideshare pickup area is surprisingly well thought out. Simple, no chaos. You walk out and your ride’s right there. Modern travel done right. Having the marker of each pole integrated into Uber/Lyft makes things soooo much easier.

What a lovely new airport terminal comprising of Terminal A and B. Had a good walk around all the gates to get our steps in while having lunch at Meat Rushmore BBQ. Really good food. Lots of other restaurants and bars and shops to keep you busy while waiting to board your plane.

This airport is on my top 10’s to fly from. The environment is light and bright, the employees are friendly and TSA is well organized easily to get through. Centrally located between Kansas City and Fort Leavenworth.

It is with sadness that am leaving Kansas. Stayed in Lenexa KS close to where my boyfriend grew up in Olathe. Matt Dz******. We didn’t get to meet so I explored my first time ever in a Midwest state. The airport is clean, has charging outlets in gate seating area. Even larger airports don’t often have these amenities that travelers need. Lots of seats at the gate. TSA staff are informative, friendly and carry out their duties professionally. Rental car shuttles take you back and forth between terminal. Kansas reminds me of northern CA with its rolling hilly streets (of course not as steep or inclined), and highway lanes are wide and open and lots of greenery and open space. I love it here. If I were to be reborn in another life I can imagine growing up here and meeting my boyfriend decades back when our timelines would have aligned best. But this is another story to be memorialized somewhere.

MCI was so much better before the revamp, not that the airport wasn't in need of a facelift! I have no complaints about the new decor! (The bullet holes in the glass at the entrance did give me pause...) When I catch a flight, I am worried about three things: how quickly can I park, how quickly can I get through TSA, and how quickly can I get to my gate. Parking in the economy lot- the prices go up my $1.50-2 every time I travel, but the parking situation never improves. And get this! If an airline finds your lost luggage (yay!) and you go pick it up, you have to pay $2 for parking! And that goes up to $4 if you are there for more than 30 minutes. TSA at MCI is consistently the literal worst TSA experience of any airport I have been through. What's with all the yelling? The dogs? Why are travelers being treated like criminals/prisoners? There are so many TSA employees milling around, but only half the stations are open- it feels like the Walmart checkout experience. I never have even a tenth of the hassle at other airports. If you fly Southwest, the best advice I can give you is to have your running shoes on.
