As our mortgage had almost a year left to run on a very low interest rate, we were porting the mortgage to our new property and sticking with that lender. What Star Legal didn't tell us, was that they weren't on our lender's panel which, as a layperson, I didn't even know was a thing. This was only brought to our attention by our mortgage broker when the application for our second mortgage was going through. So when we mentioned this to Dawn she said they would see if the Clifton office could take on the case. We then entered a period of nearly two weeks waiting for an answer to what seemed like a simple query. During this time, there was no sense of urgency or empathy from Dawn; in fact, she tried to deflect blame on the reception staff (or whomever processed our paperwork*). Our mortgage advisor kept chassing us, we chased Star Legal, and got nowhere. It came to the point where our advisor called us one afternoon and said the mortgage provider were pulling their products at the end of the day so we needed an answer within the next few hours. One final desperate plea to Dawn and we were again met with complete apathy. Luckily, we had already got quotes from other local firms who were on the mortgage providers panel and managed to appoint Bower Bailey at incredibly short notice. The difference in professionalism and customer service was night and day. We ended up making a formal complaint against Star Legal and even during this process, they failed to acknowledge any wrongdoing in process or behaviour. I can't in good faith recommend Star Legal based on our shocking experience. * the paperwork/forms are a good example of the lack of professionalism at Star Legal. The quality of these is, quite frankly, shocking for a legal form. They look like they were produced by somebody on work experience in both their style and clarity,
