Kata Tjuta, also known as Mount Olga, is a remarkable collection of ancient orange rock formations located in a remote basin accessible by car. It holds spiritual significance for the Anangu people and is part of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, jointly managed with Parks Australia. The area was once named Ayers Rock and Mount Olga but has been returned to its original owners. The park is governed by a unique law that protects sacred sites from tourists and photographers.
This afternoon I did the Valley of the Winds hike at Kata Tjuṯa, about a half-hour drive from Yulara. There are two main lookouts, and at the second one, you can look right through the valley while a cool breeze sweeps past – a welcome relief in the warm sun. It’s mind-blowing to think this rock was formed over 550 million years ago, before there was life on land, back when Australia was part of a much larger supercontinent. Photos aren’t allowed once you’re on the hike, but from a nearby lookout we caught some amazing late-afternoon views of both Kata Tjuṯa and Uluru. Nature at its absolute best.

Kata Tjuta Sunset with the HOHO bus. Picked up at 3.15 . Unfortunately the hottest day there. Views from the dunes was brilliant. Up a slight gradient on metal footing for about 500m. Views over the whole of KT. Then off to toilets, then for the Walpa Walk. OK let me give you a warning. The Valley of the Winds walk is always touted as the hardest and most difficult walk, as its longer. But the Walpa Walk to walk up at 45 degree gradient on on pure rock for 1 hour there and back is no easy task!!!!! I wish they had given fair warning as there was no shade it was over 30C and we stopped before we got to the end and sat in the shade of a boulder. After this to the sunset viewing area. Wonderful to see the western part of the Olgas change colour. Filippo was a great driver and very informative and helpful. Got back about 7.15pm.

Another amazing site in the NT. 2nd time here and still brings a huge smile to my face ! Its about a 2km return walk to the viewing deck at the end. If its a hot day (we were there at 5pm) for walk and sunset, make sure you have a hat, water and snacks, as it gets really warm ! Magical place and worth the tour!
Ivanka M — Google review
This is nothing you can imagine in your wildest dreams. I am in love with Uluru and I truly acknowledge its sacred and spiritual energy but this is something that goes way beyond. Kata Tjuta has carved its name into my Soul from the very first time I visited it. I keep going back and it keeps filling my heart with the most spectacular energy and healing power. This place is a gate through another dimension, you can truly sense the Creation time through its harmonious curves and astonishing red dust. I could truly get lost there and no need anything else but its beauty. If you want a life changing experience this is the place. Thank you so much for keeping this place accessible and open to public. Its healing power goes beyond words.

Absolutely incredible place to watch the sunset from, colours don't look real! Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to do the Valley of the Winds walk due to time constraints and rainy weather threatening to close the Great Central Road. Well worth every cent of the park fee to see along with Uluru over a few days. ig: adventure__unlimited yt: adventureunlimited

It was a cold and windy day but well worth a visit and a nice couple of walks with nothing too strenuous.

Standing there, I felt the raw and overwhelming power of nature. Apparently, this place inspired Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
Makiko N — Google review
I personally think this is better than Uluru as you can walk through the middle of it, which is amazing Valley of the winds was definitely the best walk. Definitely worth going to the second lookout. It is breathtaking.

Uluru, a massive sandstone monolith located in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, holds great cultural significance to the local Anangu people. This iconic site is considered sacred by indigenous Australians.
Of corse amazing! Pro tip what we didn't know before, don't buy a bus or guide in just buy the park pass and U can drive yourself!! Great seeing the sunrise and the audio app was super interesting

What a place ❤️definitely worth the visit amazing landscape of The Big Rocks formations in the middle of a desert look like environment …God creation. ..lot of History of survival stories of the First Nation people and aborigines, in this part of the planet.
AlIK A — Google review
Uluru is one of the most awe-inspiring and spiritual landmarks in Australia, and visiting it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Rising majestically from the flat desert landscape in the heart of the Northern Territory, this massive sandstone monolith is not only a natural wonder but also a deeply sacred place to the Anangu people, the traditional custodians of the land. The sight of Uluru is breathtaking at any time of day, but it is especially magical at sunrise and sunset when the rock dramatically changes colors, glowing in shades of red, orange, and purple. Watching this transformation is an unforgettable moment that leaves every visitor in awe. Exploring the base of Uluru allows you to appreciate its size and detail up close. The walking trails reveal ancient rock art, waterholes, and caves that carry incredible cultural significance. Guided tours led by Indigenous rangers and storytellers provide valuable insights into the spiritual meaning and traditions connected to Uluru, making the visit even more enriching. Beyond its beauty, Uluru offers a sense of peace and connection to the land that is hard to describe. The surrounding area of Kata Tjuta and the vast desert landscapes further enhance the experience, offering more opportunities for exploration and reflection. Uluru is not just a natural attraction—it is a cultural and spiritual treasure. A visit here is humbling, inspiring, and unforgettable. It leaves you with a deep respect for Australia’s heritage and the enduring spirit of its First Nations people.
Pravin R — Google review
Just spectacular! There's really nothing quite like it. It almost doesn't look real when you're driving up to it. Lots of different ways and options to explore. Be prepared for the heat and flies. I'd recommend doing most activities first thing in the morning. We did the bike ride around the base and that was a great way to see everything.
Lara — Google review
Even my 2nd time around and it was still amazing 👏 When you understand the history of how it became and what it means to the locals, it makes it even more special. Walked the full 10.6km loop around, but it is longer if you go into the waterholes and caves. Some sections of the rock are prohibited from photography out of respect. Make sure if you go in warmer months to take lots of water, snack and fly nets.
Ivanka M — Google review
It's a place you go to once. I spend a few weeks there as the mechanics are useless so hopefully no one breaks down in that area. After spending more than are you there it's just a rock it's very expensive add the resort, I wouldn't go back
Dean N — Google review
A simply amazing, spiritual place. Was in awe of this stunning piece of Australias natural land art. Rich in history, cultural value & significance. Highlights were... - the birthing pool at the base - finding out it runs 3-6 meters below the ground so it's even bigger than it looks! - the free walk through where you can find out so much info about it - aboriginal art gallery - the feeling that it was indeed a sacred place & we were blessed enough to experience it
Ngere P — Google review
absolutely breathtaking. The sheer size and presence of the rock in the middle of the desert is something photos just can’t capture. Sunrise and sunset views are stunning, and the cultural stories shared by the Anangu people make the experience even more meaningful. A must-visit if you’re in Australia.

Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park offers hiking trails, rock caves, and ancient paintings in sacred Aboriginal lands, featuring the iconic Uluru rock. Visitors are encouraged to explore the excellent cultural center to learn about dream time stories and can also visit a cafe, National Park Office, and an indigenous art shop. The walk itself is of medium grade with drinking water tanks placed at various points along the trail.
A pleasant, easy walk around the base offering stunning views. It’s a shame we could no longer hike or climb to the top - reckon the views would be even more breathtaking. The guided walk was informative & the ranger was friendly and knowledgeable. The area was well-equipped with basic facilities like toilets and drinking water. The walk to the cultural center took about 35 minutes.

Amazing experience visiting. Get your tickets online and just scan at the entrance it is valid for three days. The park is very organized with many parking lots separated for buses and cars. Make sure to check it out the website for maps of trails and also sensitive areas. Don’t miss sunset/ sunrise both fantastic!

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. This place is full of mystical vibes and Indigenous culture. Here you can really imagine how the Natives used to live in ancient times and how important this place has been for their culture. If you’re looking for a truly authentic experience in the Red Centre, this is exactly what you’re searching for

I visited Uluru in August and it was a truly breathtaking experience. The sheer size and beauty of this sacred site left me speechless. I had a deep understanding of the cultural significance of Uluru. Watching the sunset and sunrise over the rock was magical. I highly recommend visiting Uluru for anyone traveling to Australia—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

📌 Uluru 🌄 Uluru – Where the Earth Speaks in Stories Standing before Uluru (Ayers Rock), my husband and I were absolutely in awe — not just by its sheer size or its striking red glow at sunset, but by the deep, spiritual presence it holds. 💫 This UNESCO World Heritage site isn’t just a rock — it's a sacred site for the Anangu people, rich with ancient stories passed down through generations. Stories that teach, inspire, and guide — serving as role models for those yet to come. 💬 Every crevice, every color shift tells a tale. And let’s be honest... photos don’t do it justice — you feel Uluru more than you see it. (Pro tip: pack extra memory cards... and maybe some tissues — it’s that moving 😅) Grateful for this experience, and humbled by the history etched into this land.
Anne M — Google review
A trip to Uluru is an unforgettable experience. The sheer size and presence of this iconic monolith are breathtaking, especially during sunrise and sunset when the rock glows in vibrant red and orange hues. The cultural significance of Uluru to the Indigenous people adds a deep, spiritual layer to the visit, and the guided tours offer rich insights into its history, stories, and natural features. The walking trails around the base are well-marked and allow you to appreciate the rock’s texture and surrounding landscape up close. While it can be hot and remote, the journey is more than worth it for the profound sense of connection to Australia’s natural and cultural heritage.

Kata Tjuta, also known as the Valley of the Winds, is a striking landscape featuring steep sandstone domes and rugged terrain. The 7.4km loop trail offers viewing platforms and is popular for hiking, taking around 3-4 hours to complete. The hike is mostly moderate with some steep inclines and features a mix of clear dirt and rocky paths. Visitors are asked not to take photos of the rock in the valley out of cultural sensitivity.
A great place to visit, will definitely blow your mind. Very peaceful, felt how big Mt Olga is, specially looking at those domes felt how smaller we’re. Highly recommended to visit, best time would be early morning or in the late afternoon as mid day could be very hot. Please take plenty of water if you’re planning to do hiking.
Joydip R — Google review
Really varied hike in terms of view points but recommended more for those of a decent level of fitness. Do this walk first thing in the morning after sunrise. After 11:30 the temperature rises considerably and a fair few sections of the valley loop are exposed with only occasional shade. Take plenty of water and wear hiking shoes with decent soles to them as a lot of this hike is more like a bolder field in places with loose rocks. I walked it in trainers and my feet hurt by the end of it as the soles weren’t stiff enough to cope with the harsh rocks. Can’t stress enough about the need to take plenty of water with you.
Darren F — Google review
The Valley of the Winds hike is absolutely worth it! It’s a bit of a drive, but if you arrive at the park entry before sunrise you’ll be rewarded with stunning skies and even a view of Uluru in your rear-view mirror as you drive in. The trek is listed as 3–4 hours, but I completed it in 2 hours (no shortcuts!). The Kata Tjuta rock formations radiate an amazing energy, and it’s worth pausing often, looking up and behind you, so you don’t miss the beauty. I wouldn’t personally rate the pathways as difficult, but I’m quite fit... others may find some parts more challenging. One important note: there are no toilets, so be sure to stop at the Kata Tjuta sunset viewing area beforehand.
Vikikiau 7 — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking! I walked the two lookout points and completed the loop — it was an incredible experience being right in the heart of the Olgas. The scenery is spectacular at every turn, with ever-changing rock formations and sweeping views that make you feel immersed in something truly ancient and powerful. The walk itself is well marked and offers a mix of easy sections and slightly more challenging parts, but it’s absolutely worth it. A must-do in the Red Centre!
Marie C — Google review
Share the same ticket with the big rock! However not as good as the Kings canyon, need a good hiking boot here.
Deven C — Google review
Kata Tjuta was an enjoyable walk. The rock formation is amazing. Tips: take water, wear a hat, wear a fly net.
Frantastic F — Google review
This makes Uluru look bland. The landscape and flora is breathtaking. Of all the attractions in the area, this was my favourite. The loop walk took us a bit over 2 hours to complete comfortably, well under the advertised 4 hours.

Walpa Gorge is a 2.6-kilometer trail located at Kata Tjuta, offering a scenic walk between sandstone domes with the chance to spot wallabies and seasonal streams. The area is rich in diverse flora, including striped white flowers of the mint bush and pink daisies. Visitors can expect to see tall desert poplars, oaks, bloodwoods, river red gums, quandongs, and blue mallee along the flat plain.
Another spectacular short hike through some truly stunning terrain. Like its famous neighbor, Uluru, Kata Tjuta’s rugged rock formations shift in color as the light changes throughout the day—nature’s own mood lighting. For a picture-perfect farewell, head to the viewing platform on the way out from Ayers Rock Resort and watch the sun cast its final glow over the landscape. Just be mindful of the heat—when we hiked in the afternoon, it was a blistering 43°C, and we ended up helping a fellow hiker who had become delirious from the sun. A bit of shade, some rest, and plenty of water saved the day, but it was a stark reminder: even on short hikes, hats and hydration are non-negotiable.
Bradley J — Google review
If you only have time to visit the Olga’s and do one hike this would be the one! So beautiful, peaceful and not hard at all! Very cold during the June month! But no flies!
Virginia L — Google review
A easy short walk to get some nice views and be up close. Wasn't too busy when we were here, one big tour just turned up as we got there so we made sure to get around them first then there wasn't many people. Nice platform at the end and there was a little bit of water around (mid September).
Lauren B — Google review
Just so impressive!!!! The whole walk was filled with wonder as the walls got ever deeper and steeper with massive rock falls dotted all around. It was great to see running water and a healthy flora growing. I bet it looks way different in the summer. The walk is pretty easy, a gradual rise over uneven ground up to the final viewpoint when you finally see down the valley. A must visit!
Paul S — Google review
It is so beautiful a place that you must visit it. Even kids can walk with lots of fun. There is a stream with countless tadpoles in it.
Y W — Google review
OK let me give you a warning. The Valley of the Winds walk is always touted as the hardest and most difficult walk, as it’s longer. But the Walpa Walk to walk up at 45 degree gradient on pure rock for 1 hour there and back is no easy task!!!!! I wish they had given fair warning as there was no shade it was over 30C and we stopped before we got to the end and sat in the shade of a boulder. Yes it was beautiful but hard yakka!
Lisa S — Google review
This is a stunning walk leading to a must see viewing platform so make sure that you go to the end and just absorb the peace and serenity. It's a gradual uphill climb but not strenuous approximately one hour's walk from the car park. The path is very rocky and uneven so good walking shoes are a must. There is a very small stream to cross and seats scattered along the walk if a rest spot is needed along the way. We went in May at sunrise so it was very cold and can be windy so make sure you rug up well. The walk was fun and is highly recommended.
Izzy — Google review
Good size carpark to start the walk - no toilets. Walk is predominantly uphill into the gorge over natural rock formation - need to check your footing as you go once inside the gorge, mainly down hill to the end of the walk. We did in late pm & very shaded & cool - still lots of flies. Very picturesque & you get up close to the rocks, including boulders that have fallen over the years, allowing close examination of their make-up. Fairly easy walk & worth doing & only a few km to the picnic area/sunset viewing/toilets.

Upon arriving at the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Cultural Centre, I found a serene atmosphere amidst the scorching heat. The center provided a welcome respite with its functioning air conditioning, allowing me to leisurely peruse the informative displays and view a documentary on 'hand back day.' I was pleasantly surprised to discover a full-fledged museum, gift shops, a café, and an art center where Aboriginal women showcased their traditional canvas painting techniques.
It is good to learn about the local people here and how they’ve been living for many thousands of generations. Very beautiful very hot here and not much water amazing to survive and live a beautiful life.

Great place to experience what Australia is all about. Both Uluṟu and the Olga’s are incredible! Amazing and a must do stop!!

Very nice to read, listen and take in the quiet natural surroundings. The gift shop is way over priced, you would still make money if you dropped the price %50.
Warren F — Google review
About a 40-minute walk from Uluru, you’d find an information center, a café/souvenir shop & several galleries showcasing indigenous art. The area also had useful facilities, including restrooms and drinking water.
Angel K — Google review
Shockingly good coffee... Hidden gem - get there earlish so you can get a spot on the lounge to enjoy. Also beautifully designed building, interesting information about the culture and somehow includes that wonderful spiritual feeling Uluru holds.
Kristin — Google review
It’s not something I would factor much time in for. The prices are way higher than expected. I know it the middle of nowhere but the slices of cake were half the size of a normal slice and twice the price. There isn’t much to see here. Good toilet stop really.

Busy place with a number of buses arriving. Thought the art gallery prices were over the top. They appeared to charge extra because of location, also they charge the actual artists alot when a painting is sold. Not sure why the art is so expensive

Field of Light Uluru is an awe-inspiring art installation by Bruce Munro, illuminating the desert landscape with a mesmerizing display of colorful lights resembling a sprawling field of radiant flowers near Uluru. Encompassing an expansive area equivalent to over seven football fields, this interactive exhibit invites visitors to wander through paths amidst 50,000 pulsating light stems that change color and sway gently. This enchanting experience can be combined with the Sounds of Silence dinner or enjoyed independently after sunset.
We recently took part in the Field of Light Sunrise tour which was fantastic. Our tour guide & bus driver were both awesome. Super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The light installation was so lovely, such a magical experience to walk around then back up onto the dune viewing area for a cuppa and incredible view of sunrise over Uluru. Highly recommend!

🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 A truly magical and unforgettable experience! This event was absolutely spectacular from start to finish. We were picked up directly from our accommodation and taken to the perfect spot to watch the sunset. As Uluru slowly changed colours in the fading light, we enjoyed a beautiful selection of delicate canapés and sipped bubbles — an experience that felt both intimate and grand at the same time. As night fell, we walked into the Field of Light, and it was simply breathtaking. Thousands of softly glowing “eternal flowers” stretched out before us, shifting and shimmering in an ever-changing landscape of light. The atmosphere was serene and otherworldly — something you truly have to see to believe. It’s beautifully organised, thoughtfully executed, and leaves you with a sense of wonder that lingers long after. An absolute must-do when visiting the Red Centre. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Very beautiful experience. You'll take some of the best photos you could ever take in Australia. The setting of light is so well done, the path is well signalized and the experience has just this wow factor. You can see the most starred sky you've probably ever seen, and the silence you get while walking this path is an otherworldly experience. It feels like you're walking in a magical flower field. Really recommended!

We did the FOL dinner experience. The staff were lovely, attentive and good service. Started with drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) and canapés, just after sunset (not dark yet), we've been guided to the dinner tables. didgeridoo performance, followed by night sky story, self guided walk along the trail in FOL and back on the bus. Great evening
V K — Google review
Field of Lights Star Pass. Chose this over the standard admission and the dinner. Well worth the $135. Canapes (5 of these, very filling, though would've loved a sweet treat at the end). Bubbles, wine, beer, soft drinks and Yaru still and mineral water free flowing. View above the FOL overlooking it as the sun when down. Awesome. Best vantage point. Then walked down and did the longer walk through the field, quite incredible how huge it is. There I was thinking how long did it take and how many. 6 weeks and 50,000 lights. Incredible.

I booked this dinner in response to marketing emails that started arriving from Voyages when I reserved my accommodation at Desert Gardens Hotel. Voyages claimed that it will “sell out fast”. The cost of the buffet dinner and inclusive drinks was $355 per person. It didn’t sell out, there were 10 empty seats on the night I attended. Overall, the quality of the food was acceptable but it wasn’t as exceptional as the price would suggest. Drinks service was a little stretched with wait staff struggling to keep up with the demands of a large American tour group who also attended. Their needs appeared to prevail over people who booked privately. Whilst it was reasonable that they were seated first so they could remain as a group, the small minority of guests who weren’t in the group should not have been made to wait until last to receive food and drinks. As an Australian citizen who enjoys immersion in the beauty of nature in remote areas, I was appalled by The Field Of Light. Part of the attraction of visiting remote areas is to escape the light pollution of major urban centres. Littering the desert with light gloves and polluting the night sky with artificial light appeared to be a desperate attempt to provide an acceptable experience on occasions when nature fails to deliver a clear night. I guess it’s the only way you can hope that the tourists who paid $355 for dinner under the stars will go home satisfied on occasions when the stars are occluded by clouds.

Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku, also known as the Uluru Sunrise Viewing Area, is a specially designated platform for observing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets set against the stunning backdrop of the iconic sandstone formation. Despite some controversy over its positioning, this viewing area offers a tranquil and awe-inspiring experience as the sky transitions from deep blues to vibrant oranges while the first rays of sunlight illuminate Uluru.
Visited here as part of a Uluru Highlights tour operated by Voyages at Ayers Rock Resort. Our Guide, Lucia, was terrific and she speak several languages. I took my Assistance Dog and they were very accommodating of this. Definitely recommend this for any budding photographer as the dawn changes the light on the rock in terrific ways.

On a full moon night, after watching the sunset at Uluru, drive here immediately and climb to the highest platform to see the stunning moonrise. You will never be disappointed. Photo didn’t tell the truth.
Y W — Google review
Watching the sunrise at Uluru was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my trip. As the first light broke over the horizon, the rock slowly shifted through a stunning palette of deep purples, fiery reds, and glowing golds. The atmosphere was peaceful and almost spiritual, with everyone quietly taking in the breathtaking transformation of this sacred place. The viewing area was well set up, offering clear panoramic views of Uluru and the surrounding desert landscape. The crisp early morning air made the moment even more refreshing, and the stillness of the outback added to the magic. If you’re visiting, I highly recommend making the effort to wake up early—it’s absolutely worth it. The sheer beauty of Uluru at sunrise is something that stays with you long after the moment has passed. A must-do experience for anyone travelling to the Red Centre!
Pramesh K — Google review
The ride and driver were great. The day was beautiful and the rock looked good. I would have liked to stay to see the whole Rock turn red but I understand schedules. The coffee, tea and hot chocolate helped with the early morning start time....as did the cookies.

Get here at least 30 mins before sunrise. This way you beat all the buses. The views were good the platform was great and well maintained. There is ample parking too.
Michael M — Google review
This lookout is famous for its stunning views of Uluru at sunrise. If you want to take photos without other people in the frame, it's best to arrive early and secure your spot. Even if you're not in a rush to take pictures, the peaceful atmosphere and the awe-inspiring sight of Uluru and the surrounding landscape make the experience unforgettable. A truly special place to start your day in the Red Centre.

Go at sunset time and you will have the place almost to yourself! There was only us and one other car there for sunset, and you get to see nice colour over The Olga's too! Sunrise it was packed and way too many people .. probably hundreds of people on the platforms.. we went on the track further down and there was a few people there it was better than being squashed on a platform.

Sunrise was at 0615. Get there at 0600. You beat the crowd and watch how the colours of the sky change.

Uluru Camel Tours offers a unique way to explore the central Australian region, allowing visitors to ride through the dunes and experience the area as early pioneers did. It's recommended to schedule tours during early or late hours to avoid the midday heat. After the tour, visitors can relax by the pool at Sails in the Desert before enjoying an evening at Sounds of Silence dinner under the stars with Uluru as a stunning backdrop.
This was an absolutely spectacular experience. The guides did a wonderful job of introducing each camel by name and sharing their personalities, which created a genuine sense of connection. I especially enjoyed spending time with Quart Pot and Golden Nugget, and the sunrise view with the camel train was simply unforgettable. The breakfast bread was also delicious. Many thanks to all the staff and, of course, the camels!🐪 🌅💛

Had a great time on the sunset tour. Our camel Rusty was great, as were all the staff and guides. Though it was a large group in total, it didn't feel like you were with that many people once on your camel and enjoying the views. Worth the money and a fun activity. The drinks and snacks after was a nice touch. Museum was interesting to have a look at while there. We self drove to the farm so could leave whenever we liked afterwards.
Lauren B — Google review
Amazing tour and great tour guides! They were informative and provided clear instructions on what to do and not do with the camels. The tour guide who is a local you could say , told us some funny stories of life in the outback and camel races. The camel ride was about an hour, past Uluru. The guides also take photos of you on your camel with your phones. At the end of the tour you can pat and take pics with your camels. Nice cold drinks available in store afterwards . Highly recommend, last time I visited I also did a sunset ride which was amazing 👏

Amazing experience. The guides and staff are very passionate about the camels. I found the whole thing much more interesting than I expected. The guide was great and shared her knowledge with us. I did the sunrise tour and would recommend that the damper was so delicious. They also had some other animals you could visit too. Say hi to Rusty for me. He was a great camel.
Michael M — Google review
We took a sunset tour on Sept. 29, 2025. I was excited, and lost 21 pounds going into the trip to be sure that I could ride. We got a camel named Doc, who was perfectly steady and capable. The tour was much longer than we expected. The height of the camels was surprising, although it shouldn't have been. Our guide Arnold picked us up at our hotel, and was so personable and knowledgeable, he really upped the experience from fantastic to superb. We didn't expect to return to the farm to a lovely spread of nibbles, including some of the best bread I've ever had, piping hot from the oven. They had a lovely store, and I purchased a wonderful children's book titled The Camel Who Had The Hump by Rachel Bright and illustrated by Jim Field. I'd have bought much more, it was so tempting, but I had to pace myself. In a nutshell, you have to do this tour! It's amazing, riding the camels are an experience you'll not soon forget, and the staff is welcoming and knowledgeable.
Kelly Y — Google review
The farm staff are helpful. The camels are very friendly and easy to ride with. The staff said the best time of the day to ride camel is the sunrise time, and the view is magnificent). Its cost is $159 from ayers rock resort (only 5min driving distance).

Wonderful experience. Glad we picked this in the 1 night we had in Uluru. Under the southern hemisphere skies.. clear, in the outback. Milky way was clear as day.. food, wine and the star walk talk was amazing.

Just had the best evening at the sunset Sounds of silence dinner. Truly cannot fault a thing. The organisation, the canapés, wine, beautiful sunset. The 3 course meal that followed was delicious. Thank you chef. The didgeridoo player, the star talk, all fantastic. The staff were just so delightful and lovely. Big thank you to Vivian, who looked after us for the night. As well as all of the other hosts. Loved the table we were sat at (number 7), great bunch of people. We laughed all night. Did this dinner about 7 years ago, and we enjoyed it so much, we did it again. And again, it was fantastic. I certainly, highly recommend, that this is a must do when staying here.
Vicki S — Google review
The sound of silence dinner was a gorgeous experience for the whole family. Weather was perfect, sunset and views from the viewing area amazing. Both Uluru and Kata Tjuta at sunset were beautiful, as was the performance of a didgeridoo player during the welcome drink with canapés and chilled sparkling wine. After sunset, we were seated by attentive staff that offered a selection of Australian wine, while the first course was served at our table. The food was good, and the rest of the dinner was served in buffet style. When the sky darkened, the service turned lights off to unveil the night sky with myriads of stars visible with the naked eye. Miss Cindy guided us through the night sky and milky way including stories and fairy tales of the aboriginal culture. The talk about different stars and planets you can see was awesome, easy to understand and precisely presented using a laser pointer. A telescope was installed near the seating place unveiling Jupiter with its moons. In addition to wonderful pictures during sunset, we made awesome photos of the milky way and star constellations using a smartphone! Frankly, the sound of silence was the most memorable dinner on our trip to Australia by far.
Laco K — Google review
The sounds of silence has way exceeded my expectation. From the pre-dinner cocktail with canapés with sunset at the viewing platform, to the very sumptuous buffet dinner and free flow of wine and beverages in the middle of a national park in between both Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa, it is truly a wonderful life experience of its kind. The highlight of the experience for me was when the waiters turned all the table lamps off, and the starry night sky was just presented in front of your eyes, with the host asking for a moment of silence spanning across to allow you to fully enjoy what nature has to offer, it was just beautiful and touching. The experience is not cheap, but it is worth every penny. High recommend for those who are still hesitating because of its price!
Tracy L — Google review
From pick up to drop off the whole experience was exceptional. The staff were welcoming and friendly, when we first arrived we were welcomed with drinks on arrival and canapés while watching the sunset. Followed on by a 3 course meal, with plenty of options to choose from. Dominic who was the supervisor on site lead us through a lovely evening with the rest of his team. The star talk was amazing, very educationally and humours throughout, he made it light hearted when people would yell out questions answering quickly and clearly. Would definitely recommend.

The changing colors of Uluṟu and Kata Tjuṯa against the backdrop of soft pinks, purples, and golds create a mystical atmosphere at this world-renowned attraction. The area provides three viewing spots to capture the beauty of these natural phenomena.
🌅 Scenic Sunset Spot with Limited Parking This location offers breathtaking views of the sunset from Uluṟu —definitely worth the visit for nature lovers and photographers alike. Just a heads-up: parking can be a challenge during peak season, so plan to arrive early to snag a spot and enjoy the experience stress-free.

Absolutely fantastic views. Stunning change in colour of the mountain at sunset. Recommend being there well in advance as the place could be crowded if photos are a priority.

This is a great place to view the sunset. Walk up the track and you’ll be happy you did. Get away from the hordes of bus tours service champagne and canapés. It’s a bit much and feels a little over tourism. So going up the hill you will enjoy the view with other travellers and explores who enjoy the silence and the nature.

Absolutely spectacular! I loved how the park organized the sunset spots separating buses and car. Allowing everyone to have the experience stress free! The views are amazing make sure to bring a tripod and a jacket during winter as it will get chilly as soon the sun sets.
Virginia L — Google review
The car park was very full towards sunset time, and the view was absolutely beautiful, I have never seen anything like it. Make sure to stay until the sun is fully down because although it gets quite cold, the beautiful colours come after the sun has set.

Spectacular spot for a sunset on the rock. Obviously you will have lots of other people around but seems ok and you can get a nice view from any location really. We sat on top of the truck which gave a great vantage point for the sunset.

Great spot to admire the changing colours of sunset over Uluru. You must purchase a park pass online or at the booth, the views are amazing and there are plenty of friendly people offering to take a picture of yourself. We even saw a dingo wandering around when moat people had gone - overall the sunset ciewing is a must and so is the sunrise if you can do both tour activities including dinner and brekky.

Ayers Rock Campground is a popular choice for holding wedding ceremonies, with nearby venues like Yulara offering beautiful settings. The park's media advisor and local experts provide valuable insights into the cultural significance of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park for the Anangu people.
Stayed at the campgrounds in a powered site, not the cheapest place but it’s all about the location with views of Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa from the raised viewing points. The resort itself was fabulous. We did a few of the free activities, the gentleman doing the didgeridoo, the gentleman doing the painting and the young lady doing the bush tucker were fabulous. Loved our stay here.
Seagulls R — Google review
Not good value for money at all. $90 per night for a powered dirt site for 2 adults, with amenities that have missing shower heads & wash hand basins 'out of order', as well as the fact that Australian cash is not recognised here, it's unacceptable to pay for anything with cash within the campground, even though I could pay cash at the Shell servo just down the road for anything at all!! It's a large park with a pool that is way undersized for the number of people staying here, it's easy for us to see as we're on a site very close to the pool, I'd say this is mostly due to the number of teenagers on school &/or youth camps here. If we come back to Uluru we definitely won't be staying here nor will we be recommending it, they need to take a look at parks like the Discovery parks in Katherine & Dundee Beach, try and attain that level instead of being happy with mediocre!
Karen R — Google review
The entire Ayers Rock resort complex at Yulara is fantastic! We stayed in the campground - toilets and showers were plentiful and clean. Only disappointment is that we booked an extra large unpowered site thinking we would have a bit of extra space between the neighbouring sites, but it was super narrow, just long. We couldn't even put the awning out on our camper, which was much needed in the intense heat. So just be aware that extra large doesn't mean wider, just longer. Having said that, there are lots of trees so we were able to find shade during the day. The pool was a lovely relief from the heat of the day. Lots of bins and recycling. Short drive to Uluru.
Lara — Google review
The campground itself isn’t too bad, but for the price (70$ per night for a powered site) I expected much more. The pool was very dirty, and the washing machines didn’t work — I tried two of them and neither worked; I only managed to do my laundry on the third attempt. On top of that, the garbage truck comes by at 6 a.m., waking everyone up. I understand it’s the only campground in the area so they can get away with it, but overall I was quite disappointed.
Sofia C — Google review
I camped at the Ayers Rock Campground in a HiAce van with my 14-year-old black Labrador in September 2025. I loved the experience. The campground felt like a community, the amenities were adequate and clean, and the staff were friendly. This was my second trip to Uluru. The first time (in 2012 with my wife and then 10-year-old son), I stayed in a resort hotel. I have no complaints about the hotel accommodation, but if I return to Uluru a third time, I'll stay at the campground again!
Robert F — Google review
Great location for exploring Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Hope on bus pass best way. We had a pass for two days. It includes sunrise and sunset trips too. There is a free shuttle bus at the entrance which runs round the resort complex.
Deborah W — Google review
Gravel site with a small concrete pad and little or no shade. On the positive side the reception team were friendly and the pool refreshing. Facilities are clean and certainly given the once over every day. Close enough to walk into the town square or the Outback Hotel but be ready to pay for the privilege. $38 three day pass to visit Uluru or Olgas
Peter H — Google review
Good campground, only option close to uluru. Sites are very close together and a little crowded and I thought $40 per night for an unpowered tent site was a bit high… maybe $30-35 would be fairer

Fantastic display the aboriginal art. It’s so interesting that but I’d love to see references and signs hanging next to the pieces of art, providing further information. That would keep the people entertained and potentially engaged to purchase art to bring it home ( what could a financial decision for an investment as they could be pricey) . Muṯitjulu Waterhole is a sacred site below Uluru, accessible via a trail through trees and grasses. It is considered the best waterhole at Uluru, although it may not always have flowing water. The area also features caves like Kulpi Mutitjulu, adding to its spiritual ambiance. Visitors can take guided walks at the waterhole and enjoy the serene atmosphere after a long walk in the heat.
Stunning walk. It’s quite easy and flat. The waterhole was completely filled this time of year and the surrounding area was lush and green. The cave area with paintings was closed off as some moron decided to graffiti over it. Either way, it’s a lovely place to spend some time. Apparently the Dalai Lama came to this location in 2015 and spent time meditating on the bench overlooking the waterhole as he felt something truly special here. We all did, too.

This is on the Kuniya Walk and it is a nice spot being one of the few permanent water sources in the area. So it has trees and plants and must have been a sacred place for the Anangu people, the traditional Aboriginal Custodians of the land. Here as elsewhere on the walk there are caves with ancient rock art about the creation story of Kuniya the woma python woman, and Liru, the poisonous brown snake man.

We did an art class with Bessi near the town centre and it was incredible! We also bought art from Maruku at the Cultural Centre and they were well priced, with potentially 100’s of artworks to chose from. The young lady in the art gallery was extremely helpful and personable! Highly recommend both experiences!

Karu Lookout is a mesmerizing and awe-inspiring hiking trail located in the Valley of the Winds. The walk offers a change of landscape throughout, with gravel and cobblestone paths leading to stunning rock formations. It's recommended to start early in the morning to avoid the heat later in the day. The 7.5km hike is moderate to hard, featuring narrow and steep tracks near Lookout 2, making sensible shoes or boots essential.
Get your walking shoes on because you need to spend many hours here following the trials let the wind blow through your hair. It is beautiful and cool in the shade and hot in the sun.

I loved this walk. From the moment you start to the finish, you can’t help but be mesmerised over the scale of the place. There is always something that catches your eye, the change of landscape that is on offer the whole time is awesome. Be sure to pack a good pair of hiking shoes as you will need them for the journey. Did the short trail and it wasn’t very impressed! The longer trail might be better but you do need extra time for it! Good shoes are recommended as the terrain is full of loose rocks and even!

Amazing. The full walk was tough and not that rewarding. Next time we would go to the 2nd lookout the return the same way. Shorter, easier walk and better scenery. Highly recommended if you're fit'ish. It is a grade 4 walk.

We took the 6:00am hop on hop off bus from the Ayers Rock resort with our first stop being the Kata Tjuta sunrise viewing area. We then went to Kata, and commenced the 7.5km (2.5 hour walk). The walk is moderate to hard and some of the track near Lookout 2 is quite narrow and steep. Water is provided in a couple of stops and sensible shoes / boots are a must. Great scenery and is well worth the effort.

It's an easy trek on a gravel track with a gradual incline. About twenty minutes one way. Some amazing sights along the way depending on the time and light. We were fortunate to see a lot of wild flowers in bloom. There isn't any shade along the track so be sure to wear a hat and carry water. Ofcourse, keep a fly net handy anywhere in the Outback. We were wearing trekking boots, but some in their flip flops were enjoying themselves as well. Though the sights were great, we somehow liked the Walpa gorge walk better than this one.

Exhilarating walk through Kata Tjuka, seeing up closer the many different rocks combining to make up the sublime masses. Walk is a little challenging. I wouldn't attempt going far in with children or anyone with mobility issues. If you're fit and healthy it's an incredible day out.

Tali Wiru is a unique and intimate dining experience located at Ayers Rock Resort. The open-air restaurant offers stunning views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, creating a picturesque backdrop for a world-class gastronomic adventure. The menu features native Australian flavors, incorporating ingredients like Kakadu plum, Sandlewood, Lemon Myrtle, Quandong, Dogwood, Pig Face, Salt Bush, and even honey ants into creative dishes.
The most unforgettable experience of our trip to Uluru. While it’s expensive, it’s absolutely worth it. Canapés and champagne as you watch the sunset, the most beautifully prepared four course meal, a stunning Star chat by the very knowledge Michael and then a beautiful bush talk around the camp fire. We looked at other dinner in the desert options and we are so glad we picked this one. The numbers are small, kept to around 20 I think and each group had their own table, rather than having to share with strangers. It’s a dinner that we will never forget and I feel so lucky we got to experience it.

No hyperbole, best dinner experience my wife and I have ever had. Impeccable service starting with Mike who drove and also taught us about the constellations. Very intimate environment. If you visit Uluru you have to do this. It’s worth every penny.

The Tali Wiru sunset dining experience was absolutely magical and the highlight of our trip to Uluru. Watching the sun set over the desert while enjoying champagne together felt like pure romance. The multi-course menu was incredible, showcasing native ingredients with perfect wine pairings (especially the bin 389 Cabernet-Shiraz). The service was flawless, and we especially loved the warmth and attentiveness from Shela, who made the evening feel so personal and special. Dining under the stars with cultural stories and the beauty of the outback made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience we will never forget!!

This was one if not the best meal and service I have ever had. The experience alone is worth it. Seeing the sunset on a desert dune. Staff were super awesome.
C J — Google review
Overall a good experience with great staff. The only thing that let it down somewhat was the food - with my starter (scallops) and main (beef) both being cold. Not what you’d expect sadly for $450 per person. The quality of the food though was great and would have been 5* with food that wasn’t cold. A great setting too and really interesting learning about the stars!

The most amazing dining experience we've ever had! Celebrated our 10year wedding anniversary with the Tali Wiru experience and we couldn't fault any part of it. The view, the night sky, the INCREDIBLE food, the experiences with the guide. Don't hesitate to book this experience! Absolutely worth the money.

Tali Wiru offers an unforgettable and exclusive dining experience under the stars in the heart of Australia’s outback. The setting is breathtaking, with panoramic views of Uluru and a peaceful desert ambiance. The food is exquisite, blending fine dining with native Australian ingredients. The staff provides exceptional service, sharing stories and culture with warmth and respect. Tali Wiru is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that beautifully combines luxury, nature, and tradition.

Visiting from Sydney, and it is definitely worth the price of $420pp for fine dining. An unforgettable experience having dinner in the middle of the desert at sunset and then into darkness overlooking Uluru. Staff and food are fantastic. I ordered the slipper lobster as an entree, beef tenderloin for the main, and kakadu mousse for dessert. All were fantastic, and they offer canapes pre dinner. Everything was so good! Took so many photos to look back on. The only downside was that it started raining. Therefore, the campfire and hot chocolate were cancelled after dinner. Oh well, can't control the weather, but a must do if it is within your budget.

Karingana Lookout is a must-visit spot in Kata Tjuta, offering stunning scenery and a tranquil atmosphere. The walk to the lookout begins from Karu Lookout and continues for 1.6km, leading you through the valley between the domes of Kata Tjuta. Following a circular loop trail, you'll gradually ascend before reaching the breathtaking Karingana Lookout.
This was a fab lookout, stunning scenery and a great chance to take a break and soak it in. The time of year, your own fitness and age will decide whether this walk is for you. Most people can easily do it, when it’s hot take precautions. The views are well worth the effort though with cliffs stretching for the sky, water holes, and beautiful flowers (winter). I really loved this place. The track is easy to follow

Fantasticl spot viewing the Olgas in one directio and down to the Valley of the Wind in the other. East walk and very much worth the effort. The lanscape is astounding and so is the idea that Indigenous Peoples have lived here for thousands of years.

This is undoubtedly one of the must-visit places, with fantastic walking paths and stunning views from the Valley of the Winds. Considering the walking time from the parking lot, you'll need about 3 hours. Along the way, there are also places where you can refill water. As the sun can be intense during the day, we recommend taking measures against sunburn and enjoying your time.

This was a very difficult hike; I must admit. My friend did not complete the full hike, as it was simply too much with the heat. Do not recommend pushing yourself too much in this heat. Make sure you have shoes that can withstand hilly terrain. Bring plenty of water, take breaks, and bask in the amazing rock formations of Kata Tjuta!

Art Galleries
Walkatjara Art is a significant part of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, showcasing authentic Aboriginal art and crafts. Run by the Anangu people, it offers visitors the chance to explore and purchase genuine Anangu art, including paintings and traditional works. The gallery also provides insight into the traditional way of life of the Anangu people.
We visited the Cultural Centre at Uluru and Walkatjara Art Gallery on a second trip to central Australia. We were really impressed on the first occasion and purchased a lovely piece in the environment where the indigenous artists are actually painting their stories in the gallery. Gallery staff are really helpful and enthusiastic about the art being created in front of visitors like us, and on this occasion, Adelaide was the gallery assistant who explained the creation stories of Uluru and the Anangu indigenous artists. Adelaide was a pleasure to deal with, and made our purchase of another artwork really easy, as well as, packing the large canvas securely in a postal tube for air transit back home on our flight and delivering it to our accommodation. And, it arrived safely in over-sized baggage thanks to her diligence with the packing. Walkatjara is a not for profit Art Centre owned by the Aboriginal Mutitjulu community. This gave us confidence and comfort with our purchases and was a reason we went back to this gallery. You have the opportunity to ask questions and receive insights about the artwork in the place where the artwork was created, as well as, knowing that you are supporting the local indigenous community in this iconic Australian location. If visiting, take the opportunity to look through the many canvases that are displayed or on tables. Then try to imagine how the artwork will appear on your wall, once stretched and professionally framed. Ours look magnificent and we are so happy with our memories that lend the art additional meaning and with the knowledge that we have supported the artists and community.

A great gallery, complete with paintings from around Australia and local art. Bronte helped us and she was very kind to take time to explain the difference in the local style of art versus work from other parts of the country. She was very knowledgeable, knew many local stories, and explained the significance of each type of art. I learned more in 10 minutes with her than my own reading or organized tour. Be sure to stop in and ask questions! A wonderful establishment.

The Uluru Base Walk is a captivating experience that allows visitors to explore the natural and cultural wonders of Uluru. The walking track closure times are determined by weather conditions, with closures occurring as early as 11 am on hot days. The approximately 3.5-hour walk takes you past small caves once inhabited by aboriginal people, watering holes, and unique rock formations.
🥾 The Uluṟu Base Walk is a 10.5 km loop that circles the iconic rock, offering a close-up look at its stunning features. But don’t let the distance fool you—it’s a challenging trek, especially in summer when shade is scarce and the sandy terrain adds to the effort. Hydration is key, so pack plenty of water and electrolytes, wear sturdy walking shoes, and pace yourself with breaks along the way. It can easily take over 3 hours, and a decent level of fitness helps. Starting from a quieter parking area was a smart move, and for those seeking something shorter, there are three other walks to explore. A rewarding experience if you’re prepared for the conditions. Please respect the no photo signs.

🌅 17,000 steps. 12 kilometres. One incredible walk around Uluru. From cool shaded paths to the warmth of the sun, every angle revealed new shapes and colours in this ancient rock. Started at sunrise, finished at lunch — with every step holding a piece of history. An unforgettable experience. 🧡

Great walk. Nice and flat easy. I would suggest the hop on hop off bus. And pre book your pick up and drop off times. You can choose to doe the whole loop or stop at certain parts. Plenty of water stops along the way.

Looking down from the climb at ULURU .. if you haven't seen this view in real life .. you never will!! .. because the climb is now officially closed .. it has always looked easier to climb in pictures than it actually is .. as it is truly death-defying & terrifying .. & has claimed many more lives than the humble tribute plaques at the base .. from the base to Chicken Rock is a few hundred metres .. then you have to scale across from the top of Chicken Rock to the start of the chain .. if you fall you're dead .. then the chain was around knee height all the way up with sheer drops on each side .. then at the top of the chain is a ledge where this picture is taken .. then you have to be assisted up off the steep ledge & slide up & down across deep craters on the top which falls away to sheer drops each side with nothing but a dotted line painted on the rock .. like Mt Everest but stinking hot .. & when people would fall usually trying to catch a dropped camera or hat etc .. because the rock surface is like razor sharp snakeskin the bodies would end up in several pieces in different locations & they had to be retrieved by the ULURU KATA TJUTA Park Rangers.

Last day in Yulara and I couldn’t leave without a bike ride around Uluru 🚴‍♂️ This time I threw on some tunes and just soaked in the scenery. What stood out most was the weather — cool in the shade, warm in the sun, and that magic outback winter breeze on the skin while the sun hit your back. You really needed all the layers out here — zero degrees at night climbing to 24 during the day. Such a unique experience. Hope to visit again one day.

Such an awesome way to see Uluru! The outback cycling team are great and get you set up and on your way quickly. The bikes are comfortable and the majority of the track is very easy riding (there are a couple of sandy sections which are a little harder to ride through, but otherwise very easy). We did it as a family of 6 - youngest 8 year old twins. We ended up hiring a tag along and the twins took turns riding and on the tag along. Total track, including the path too and from the bike pick up is about 15km. Allow 2.5hrs for drink breaks and to stop and see the sights.

My family of 5 aged 11-66 cycled around Uluru today. It was a terrific way of viewing the rock, and the staff’s friendliness and professionalism was very pleasing and welcoming. The bikes are perfect for the purpose, easy to ride and comfy memory foam seats! Highly recommended.

We did our guided bike tour with Elena, we love it! Very informative, friendly, caring and good sense of humour. Bike tour started in morning at 7:20am ( not so early) pick up from hotel and we rode the base of Uluru in 2+ hrs. A great way to go around the base without too much walking. The bike provided is easy to use and comfortable. Recommend this to everyone. We caught bit of sunrise at the first photo stop before arriving at the national park.

Excellent day. Came early after asking if we could come half an hour earlier. Staff not really happy (Italian girl), gave us helmet, showed us map, adjusted bike and that was it. Maybe annoyed we weren’t part of the larger group that came with us. Either way glad I didn’t know that in fact the bike trip is 15kms bc of the Lira Walk return component! Can’t believe we did it in 2.5 hours. Hadn’t been on a bike in years. Memory foam seats were great. No gears but not needed. I think someone took my bike by mistake at one of the stops, as the seat heights were similar but nearly busted my crotch as it was too high lol!! Luckily I could with effort adjust the seat height down. Much much better. A fantastic way to see the rock in its entirety. $80 for the bike. Can get pick up from the resort also for a cost.

Loved the Segway tour, our guide was engaging and knowledgeable The Segway was very easy to maneuver and I’m 53yrs old. The company was very big on training; it took about 45 minutes to get through only moving on until everyone felt comfortable on their Segway. It took about 2 hours to go around the entire Rock, stopping at times to hear interesting facts and indigenous stories. I was classified as a person who was confident on the Segway, which put me at the back of the line. The negative thing about being at the back, was when we were signaled to stop it took a while to get to us.. the issue was our guide at times had already started talking and we missed the beginning or we just couldn’t hear him. Regardless of that….It’s definitely a must-do, one of my favorite things we did.

We’ve just completed a Segway Tour around Uluru with Brandon as our guide - what a fantastic morning! The training was comprehensive and everyone in our group of 10 was confident before setting off Brandon was very knowledgeable regarding Customs and Culture of the local Aṉangu People who are the traditional landowners, explaining the significance and the sacred customs of various sections of Uluru - we stopped several times to learn about various aspects of Uluru and the Anangu people Brandon also kept an eye on our group to make sure everyone was safe and enjoying the ride! We thoroughly recommend this company and thank you Brandon - well done!

Totally worth getting up early for the Sunrise Segway Tour. Highly recommended putting it on your list of things to do when you're in Yulara. Emily was the best guide. She has great knowledge of the area and it was great hearing the stories associated with the different features of Uluru. You get to see the majority of Uluru but it's worth going back for a walk around the base to have a closer at some parts.

What a unique and fun way to take in the majesty of Uluru - put this on your ‘must do’ list. Our guide, Emily, was amazing… …and made this experience one of our highlights to date. It’s clear that Emily is passionate about protecting our fragile land, represents the indigenous culture with respect and compelling stories, and is knowledgeable about the historical facts. We loved our time together on the cool Segways.

Sunrise and Segway!! This tour is one of the best tour I have ever taken. Rather than just taking Segways, the tour guide, Emily, explained everything about Uluru. She was really informative and good at explaining. I understand they’re very respect for the community and trying to make this tour super fun and educational. I also took the basic and sunset tour of AAT Kings. However the guide wasn’t good enough ( especially I’m from Japan so didn’t understand what they talked)and wasn’t much fun. So I’m really glad I chose this tour for seeing sunrise!!

How do I put this into words. I’m not a confident flyer and feel anxious on commercial planes, seeing the Cessna on the tarmac pulled some of my anxiety strings. Ayers Rock Airport, also known as Connellan Airport, is a small domestic airport located just a 10-minute drive from the Uluru resort town. It serves as a convenient gateway for travelers visiting the area. Despite its small size, the airport offers direct flights from various Australian cities such as Alice Springs, Cairns, Sydney, and Melbourne. Inside the airport, there is a standard waiting area and Kulata Cafe for refreshments.
Perfectly reasonable for a regional airport. Three airlines (Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin). Definitely arrive early to get front spot in the check in line. One gate, one cafe and one gift shop. No frills, but working air conditioning which is a huge plus up here!
Alessa Y — Google review
The check in staff are always great here. The security, however, ruins the experience very time. Non standard security checks, including taking out power packs. Rude security staff, particularly the Canadian guy, who seems to revel in his uniformed role. This is a regional tourist airport, not a major city hub. Management need to be a little easier going when thinking about security issues.

Uluru / Connellan Airport is a small, efficient, and well-organized airport that provides a smooth travel experience for visitors to Uluru. The facilities are clean, modern, and easy to navigate. The staff is friendly, helpful, and welcoming, ensuring quick check-ins and comfortable arrivals or departures. Its proximity to major resorts and attractions makes it highly convenient. Overall, Uluru / Connellan Airport offers excellent service and a pleasant start to any journey.

Great little airport at the heart of Australia. It’s quiet, clean, and has filtered/cold water for people to fill their water bottles up after their flight. There’s free transportation to the resort area right outside and the ride is very short. Enjoy your stay!

Nice little airport. Car rental booths right as you get in, cars parked across the road from the airport. 1 baggage carousel. Toilets. Cafe and drinking water fountain past the security. One shop for your souvenirs/gifts. No ones checking when you arrive, but, if you are carrying fruit from out of state, theres a bin near the exit door to bin them.
Arun S — Google review
Nice little airport... I arrived from Melbourne and quickly got my luggage. Then I could take the shuttle directly to the resort. On the way back, I arrived again with the bus. The return flight was the only one at that time, and the plane wasn't full. Nevertheless, two counters were open, so the luggage drop-off was super quick. At security, I "won" the extra explosives test. Well, I was traveling with a really full camera backpack... The whole process was handled professionally. The security check took longer because of this, but since there was no queue, it was still faster than at most airports. In summary, an efficient and friendly airport that is well organized despite its size.
Felix K — Google review
Clean small airport that has one baggage carousel and quite a number of car rental companies. Toilet is modern. Small gravel carpark right in front of exit doors. Shuttle bus transfers right in front of exit doors too. Super simple. Trolleys available if you need one.
Maria N — Google review
Very very small airport. Only Qantas and Jetstar appear to operate from here. the single terminal is on the ground floor and is essentially three partitioned rooms. First one is check in area with car hire and luggage collection all in one. Second room is a tiny single security area manned by unsmiling and unhappy looking staff. This leads into the departures area with gate 1 and gate 2 side by side. One gift shop (a wee bit more expensive than the resort shops but a good choice). One coffe shop across from it called Kulata, serves usual snacks, drinks and sandwiches. Relatively efficient. Staff are pleasant apart from security who are not lol. Longitude 131 offers a luxurious and exclusive outback experience at Uluru. The resort provides stunning panoramic views of Uluru from modern floating tent rooms designed by different Australian designers. Guests can enjoy an all-inclusive experience with signature guided activities, dining, premium beverages, and in-tent bar. The resort also features private balconies, a dune top bar, lounge, plunge pool, and various panoramic views.
This is truly a unique lodge. Everything works perfectly: efficient service, interesting activities, large and comfortable rooms, excellent food…But even more impressive is the location, close to the iconic Uluru. It is worth to travel to Australia from Europe just to spend here a couple of days.

from the moment, stepping off the plane and stepping on everything have been just amazing. From the warm welcome of the staff at the airport to the good bye its just been an experience of lifetime. The start of the day with such a beautiful meal and coming back after exploration to the lodge tired to their warm welcome and amazing meals. each and every part of the stay from the activities to the hospitality was just to the point that I couldn’t point my favourite out. everything is very well maintained and very well looked after at the property. What a beautiful view of Uluru from the balcony where you can sleep under the stars. The room and the bed was beautifully set up on our way back from the activity and all we did was just relax…..

Amazing place to stay. Rooms wonderful with clear views of Uluru. George in restaurant wonderful service. Claudia gave a wonderful massage. Glenn, Michael, and team were all amazing guides. Learnt so much, but wish I had more time at the cultural centre and kata tjutuna - amazing rocks feel we could have spent more time at.

Lost for words, the staff make you feel like it's your home. It's laid back but highly refinement. Uluru could not be the same unless you experience Longitude 131. Memories will be with me forever
Andrew K — Google review
I really enjoyed my stay at Longitude 131 and believe this is the best value for your money if you want to visit magical Uluru and surroundings. The food is divine, service is wonderful, and the tours and experiences are one-of-a-kind. However, I'm sad to be leaving a 1-star review regardless of my experience. As a customer, all I have to make things change is my opinion so hopefully this will reach HR or higher ups, and someone can do something about staff members there. Don't get me wrong, everyone was super kind and attentive, but I could tell they were all deeply unhappy for various reasons. My first experience in the morning while walking out of my tent was two gentleman who seemed housekeeping supervisors screaming at two young ladies. Now I'm not sure if the ladies were cleaners because I'm not sure if they employ female cleaners, but the screaming was outrageous. One of the girls even teared up! She was made to cry at work! Later, these same gentlemen loudly made fun of another cleaner's hair which was curly and thick... great hair if you ask me! I'm losing chunks of hair as we speak, I'd kill to have gorgeous thick curly hair like that boy! I couldn't believe my ears! I'm not talking about banter this was simply mean. I had a similar experience in the restaurant, where two men who seemed to be the managers or supervisors loud and proudly praised this young lady. She served me and she was sweet and cute with her beautiful long lashes but lacked communication skills and engagement... I witnessed this star employee wiping tables with her bare hands and hiding food crumbs under the tables... meanwhile these other two young ladies were literally running around trying to finish off whatever tasks no one else seemed to be doing and didn't even receive a pat on the back! In fact, one of the ladies the one dark curly hair specifically asked her to clean the tables and chairs... which she said she did! But I was there the whole time, and she did not! The only people that seemed okay were the tour guides. They were all so happy with what they were doing and their energy was contagious. Special mention to Rob, Glenn and Chrissy. I will be back next year and I hope things change by then.

Longitude 131° is a world-class luxury lodge offering an extraordinary experience near Uluru. The tents are elegant and beautifully designed, blending comfort with breathtaking views of the desert landscape. The service is impeccable, with staff providing warm hospitality and attention to detail. Gourmet dining, guided excursions, and cultural experiences make every moment special. Longitude 131° perfectly combines adventure, relaxation, and luxury — an unforgettable destination in the heart of Australia.

If you think that a tent in a desert is leaving comfort behind you, then you haven't been here before. About the staff: only a personal 24/7 butler can outperform them. From the moment you arrive they know your name and they only need half a day to adopt to your wishes. Tip: experience their guides to discover Uluru but also take the time to see the sunset at their dune top.
David G — Google review
From the moment we stepped off the plane, we were warmly welcomed by the Longitude staff, setting a positive tone for our stay. Check-in was seamless, with a refreshing beverage offered right away, a thorough review of our itinerary, and a smooth escort to our room. One highlight was the massage, which was truly exceptional and much needed after a long flight and early start to the day. The tours were another standout, with guides who were both knowledgeable and respectful of cultural protocols, ensuring a deep and authentic understanding of the area's history and heritage. In terms of dining, the atmosphere was wonderful, and we always felt well taken care of. The team’s welcoming and energetic approach added to the overall experience, making each meal a pleasure after a day of exploration. Every part of our stay, from the activities to the hospitality, was delivered with such a high standard that my partner and I couldn’t pick a favourite. Whether it was seeing Uluru and Kata Tjuta from the sky or learning about the culture at the local centre, each experience was a 10/10. We've been sharing our memories with friends and family ever since and can't wait to visit again in the future. We would like to extend special commendation to a few team members who went above and beyond during our stay. Renee, in particular, stood out with her genuine approach, passion, and humour, making the group feel comfortable and engaged throughout the experience. Her knowledge and respect for the cultural context added a special touch to the tours. Additionally, a member of the dining staff (we regret not catching his name) who mentioned he was heading to Bali for a month’s leave, provided outstanding service with his bubbly and energetic demeanour, making each dining experience a highlight after a long day. Both individuals exemplified the high standard of hospitality we experienced throughout our stay, and their warmth and attentiveness truly enhanced our visit. While the Longitude tour guides were outstanding and provided a high-quality experience, we believe that incorporating Aboriginal tour guides could further enhance the cultural authenticity of the tours. Given that many of the discussions focused on Aboriginal culture and history, having Traditional Owners or Aboriginal guides share these stories firsthand would create a deeper connection for guests. Additionally, offering a Welcome to Country ceremony performed by a Traditional Owner, either upon guest arrival or during the first-night dinner under the stars, would elevate the cultural experience. This not only strengthens the connection to the Aboriginal culture you are promoting but also provides meaningful employment opportunities for the local Aboriginal community. Overall, our experience at Longitude was exceptional, and we truly appreciated the care and attention that went into every aspect of our stay. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. We left with wonderful memories and have been sharing our experience with friends and family. We look forward to the opportunity to return in the future and see how this incredible destination continues to evolve. Thank you again for creating such a special and unforgettable experience for us.

Just stunning as this is a lovely spot to stop being part of the Mala Walk, a 2-kilometer return trail along the base of Uluru. It has sheer walls and a waterhole. The walk includes several caves with ancient rock art and on the way you cannot help but admire and wonder about the into the traditional Anangu way of life which has been here for thousands of year.

I think getting up close to this gorge is the way to go as you can really feel how this place could have been great for tribes people to collect water and escape from the heat. There’s plenty of bird life to listen to in this quiet spot. Also plenty of lovely flowers to be seen when you take the time to look.

This is a scam!! Purchased a voucher for over $1,000 about 2 years ago without even being told they weren’t operating. They re-assured me they would re open in October 2021!! Still not open to this day and no communication. I have been emailing and calling trying to get a refund with no responses, this matter is now being dealt with by the ACCC and the NT police. Absolutely appalling behavior, especially giving a bad name to tourism in such a small remote area- Sam McKay from skydive Uluru- you should be ashamed of yourself and your pathetic actions.

Uluru Astro Tours offers an immersive stargazing experience in the southern hemisphere. Led by knowledgeable guides, the two-hour tour takes participants to a prime stargazing location within Uluru park. Here, guests can explore constellations, hear captivating stories, and even catch glimpses of planets through telescopes. Unlike shorter tours offered elsewhere, Uluru Astro Tours provides a comprehensive and satisfying experience with professional photography included.
We chose Astro Tours for this trip, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, the process was smooth, well-organized, and highly enjoyable. The tour guides were exceptionally patient, gentle, and welcoming, creating a comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Their explanations were thorough and easy to understand, making the experience both educational and engaging. We were also very lucky to see a meteor this time, which made the night even more magical and memorable. We truly appreciated their passion, attention to detail, and willingness to answer all our questions. It was a memorable and enriching experience that we would highly recommend to anyone interested in exploring the night sky.

The Uluru Astro tour was absolutely worth it. The tour was equipped with professional stargazing gear, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, combining astronomy with insights from various cultures. The group was thoughtfully split into two teams—one with Chinese commentary and one with English—making it accessible for everyone. They even provided blankets to keep us warm, which was a very considerate touch. The tour also included a commemorative photo with Uluru and the Milky Way, making the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended!

Amazing astro experience! Uluru is perfect for seeing the stars. I saw the clearest Milky Way and many shooting stars. Big thanks to driver Benson, assistant Jane, and our guide Cullen, who is really passionate about astronomy and I learned so much from his explanations. We even got beautiful photos. Truly romantic and unforgettable and highly recommend!

Really enjoyed this. They were so kind and let us get on the tour at last minute for mums birthday. 🤣 and then got the bus to sing her happy birthday - was very funny. She felt so special - thanks guys. The guides were knowledgeable and fun - great stories shared about the stars. Telescopes were really cool and the photo was fab! Thanks so much 😊

Absolutely blown away by the Uluru Astro Tours! This was hands down an amazing experience that I'd recommend to absolutely everyone. Our guide was truly exceptional – not only incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the cosmos and local Aboriginal constellations, but also wonderfully accommodating and genuinely hilarious. They made the entire evening so engaging and enjoyable, answering every question with patience and a great sense of humor. Seeing the Milky Way from Uluru was a dream come true, and the setup was perfect. A crucial tip for anyone booking: definitely check the weather on the day of your tour! Clear skies make all the difference, and it is so worth it for the breathtaking views. Do yourself a favor and book this tour – you won't regret it!
Anthony A — Google review
Fantastic tour. All the staff were so knowledgeable and lovely. Great set up with 2 groups - one for Chinese speaking guests and one for English speaking guests. Was great to look through the telescopes and then have our photos taken. Highly recommend.
Elizabeth R — Google review
The tour was long and tiring, but not very interesting. Even though the location is beautiful, we didn’t learn much... The telescope part - which we were most excited about - lasted just a few seconds per person, with almost nothing to see and no real explanation. Most of the time we just waited in line to take one photo with Uluru. Sadly, this felt more like a tourist trap than a professional or enriching experience. For the price we paid, it really wasn’t good value for money. Would not recommend
שרון פ — Google review
We felt so lucky to get a last-minute reservation to this event, which routinely sells out. Blankets were provided for the chilly temps. We appreciated that gesture. The star talk was fun & interactive, and we learned new information. We love our photos! So fun to have a memory like this. Also huge thanks to the team for setting up telescopes and helping everyone enjoy views of planets, stars and the moon. They were also offering some individual assistance with smartphone settings to give attendees a chance to take better-quality pics of their own. Absolutely recommend this experience if you can get it! For city dwellers like us, getting a 'big sky' experience at night is so meaningful and helps expand our perception of how we exist.

The Kata Tjuṯa Dunes Viewing Area is conveniently located along the road from Uluru to Kata Tjuta, offering a short and easy wheelchair-accessible walk with breathtaking panoramic views of the Olgas. This spot is renowned for being one of the best places to witness a stunning sunrise over both Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
What a great place to stop and get your first real view of The Olgas, a commanding series of domes that shoot out of the desert. There is plenty of space on this Carpark with a separate area for larger vans and caravans. The track up the dune is an easy perforated steel mesh, so protecting the dune itself. The viewing platform is pretty large and gives that view of the Olgas and Ayers Rock.
Paul S — Google review
The spot to see sunrise! Not only you will have the view of the Olga’s but also in a distance uluru! The color change is dramatic make sure to look around as the hues of pink and light blue are fantastic! It is cold up there but definitely worth!

Thought we would head off to dawn viewing only to find 150 others had to from large buses, smaller buses & other travellers. Short walk from car park (no amenities) on metal path takes you to a semicovered viewing platform on top of a sand dune looking to Kata Tjuta, as well as further to Uluru. A cloudy morning but still great views. Only 15km on to Kata Tjuta walking tracks
Peter E — Google review
The viewing area has ample parking and is a short stroll uphill from the parking area. The viewing platforms are well positioned and even offer a good view of Uluru which is many kilometres away. Note that there no toilets here, they are at the dusk sunset viewing area only.

🌄 The Kata Tjuṯa Dune Viewing Area is a stunning spot to catch the sunrise over the domes of Kata Tjuṯa. The panoramic views are breathtaking, especially as the morning light washes over the desert landscape. But be warned—during peak season, it fills up fast. Arrive early to claim a good vantage point and soak in the serenity before the crowds roll in. It’s about 45 drive from Uluṟu city.

The Lost Camel Hotel is a modern 3-star accommodation painted in the red ochre color of the desert sands. The hotel features traditional Aboriginal crafts and art in its public spaces. Guests can enjoy free daily cultural activities such as didgeridoo workshops, guided garden walks, and astronomy talks.
had a fantastic stay at The Lost Camel Hotel. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The location is excellent, close to everything you need around Yulara. The service was outstanding, with staff who were always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help. Dining was also a highlight—Geckos and Ayers Wok both offered delicious food that really made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, The Lost Camel Hotel exceeded my expectations. A comfortable stay, great service, and an ideal location—I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We stayed for four nights in October, and we quite liked the room layout, except for the lack of a table and chairs. It was well setup with the toilet and bathroom separated from the sleeping area by doors. The bedhead provided power points, a place to put your phone, and overall the room design was well thought out. We enjoyed our stay at the Lost Camel, the staff at reception were accommodating, the pool was fabulous, and we would stay there again if we revisit. Many thanks.

We do enjoyed the big room, super bedankt and pillows and convenience to centre of town. The pool facilities are also great. Yulara itself is a quaint little resort town. So sorry we only had two nights.

We rented a room for roughly 360 AUD for one night. The first room hat a window that was defect and would not close. Housekeeping was sent to fix it, but actually made it worse, and the guy said he'll be back tomorrow which is really no help at all, as I dont want a million bugs in my room. I went to the reception a second time and explained the situation. Luckily the reception was understanding and gave as another room, altough a smile would go a long way. Overall the place is very run down, but good luck finding another option out there. The bed was clean, so was the bathroom but everything else is in dire need of renovation. The pool's alright though. For its price tag the experience was very much to be improved, but it seems the other hotels offer a similar experience.

Chose this Hotel for location, price and pool. Absolutely not disappointed. Appreciative, we were able to get into our room earlier than 3pm. Stayed in room 102, close to reception, pool & outdoor area. Room had everything we needed, was clean and comfy. Reception and Housekeeping staff friendly. Loved the pool area, particularly yesterday when 41c. Thank you, would stay here again.

Worth to money. 3 mins walk to the town square (ATM, iga supermarket, souvenirs, au post, cafe, shops). Receptionist was very helpful. Laundry room is available, you can use washer and dryer for free. You just need to provide your own laundry powder/ liquid. Microwave also available at laundry room.

WARNING : this is not an Accor hotel. If you book here as an Accor member, you won’t benefit from any perk. Because you (as an Accor member) are not registered in their system, you may pay twice the price of your stay as they don’t have any idea if you paid your room in advance or not. Good luck to ask for a refund when you booked a tour for the day and the reception is closed at 17:00. The receptionist was useless, her supervisor impolite. Service needs to be improved. Rooms are not bad not good. Poor isolation. No windows. The shower works well however.

Ayers Rock Resort is a sprawling desert retreat in Australia's Northern Territory, offering diverse accommodations and amenities. The resort comprises four different hotels catering to various preferences and budgets: Longitude 131, Outback Pioneer Lodge, Desert Gardens Hotel, and Sails in the Desert. Guests can enjoy a range of dining options across the resort, from casual eateries like Pioneer BBQ & Bar and Ayers Wok noodle bar to upscale venues such as Arnguli Grill and Ilkara buffet restaurant.
The resort is fantastic and perfectly located for a trip to the National Park and to visit Uluru. We received excellent service from all the staff. A special note for Peak at the Geckos Cafe. This was our first meal when arriving, Peak was friendly and engaging. He helped us with tour recommendations and activities for us to enjoy while staying at the resort. He was very helpful with advice, a great server and a nice person for us to engage with early in our trip.

We stayed at the Lost Camel hotel. There were no kitchen facilities, so we had to purchase meals daily. Limited options for food. Would have liked just toast and spread or fruit toast! Limited sandwiches are available from the IGA, but get in early as they sell out fast. No newsagents or newspapers/magazines, so take your own reading material. Resort is cashless, but locals sell their artwork for cash. Staff are very friendly and always say hello. Resort is clean. You can walk to different hotels or catch the free bus that does loops every 15-20 minutes. Catch the free bus to the Camel Farm, it's worth a visit. We recommend the Outback Kiosk for kids' meals & pizzas. Go to the Information centre and ask about the Resorts' free activities. Walk up to the lookout in the middle of the resort, which has great 360° views. Photos are L to R: town square, our room, 3 views from the lookout, a camel!

We camped here for two nights. There were plenty of camping areas and you could park nearby, which was convenient. They were all near the road and also near caravans, so there seemed to be some generator noise, but not so bad that you couldn't sleep. Camp kitchen: there is one big one. It had 2 stove tops (4 gas burners each), several BBQs outside, a massive fridge, a kettle, a microwave and a toaster plus several sinks and plentiful seating. Need to bring your own pans, bowls etc. Showers: hot and good pressure :) Extra activities: we did the stargazing and also the Field of Light. Loved both. Looking through the telescopes for stargazing was amazing - shame about the light pollution from the resort. I assume the location is closeby to make it accessible, but consider driving us further away to a darker area considering the desert is a massive opportunity for amazing stargazing!!!

This is the most beautiful location. It's impossible to take a bad photo in this place. I'm no photographer and took the most beautiful photos just on my phone. The atmosphere is amazing. The fact that the place is being cared for now by the Anangu who are healing the land from the pollution and scars from the tourism of the past is really wonderful to see. We stayed at Emu Walk Apartments, close to a small "town centre" and it was a great combination of calm, quiet atmosphere with just the right amount of amenities to make it convenient. The staff were lovely. The tours were amazing and we can't wait to go back.

Badly overpriced hotel. For the price you pay, being made to wait around in the foyer until the 3pm check in time is a pain. On top of that - when checking out, the receptionist tried to charge us a fee for a restauran that wasn’t ours (we paid everything as we used it to avoid this exact scenario). She showed us a receipt, which was clearly sighed by someone else but had our room number! Train staff properly and do proper checks to make sure that the correct room is being charged! Receptionist made us feel like criminals!

The Kata Tjuṯa Sunset View Area offers a breathtaking view of the stunning rock formations at sunset. It's recommended to arrive early to secure a good spot, and there is a picnic area available. The changing colors of Kata Tjuṯa at sunset are said to be even more impressive than those of Uluru. Access requires a park ticket, which can be purchased online or at the park entrance ticket kiosk.
Good spot, and not too crowded. Don't forget to turn around when setting the sunset to catch the colours in the sky as well!

Convenient picnic area for day use, & located to view the sunset. Facilities include a toilet block, shaded picnic tables & smooth paths for access. Parking is available but not a huge park but was adequate for our visit. Good open area for viewing the sunsetting behind you with Kata Tjuta in front. Handy spot, being the only spot with toilets out there.

Imalung Lookout, located in the heart of Yulara, offers a stunning panoramic view of Uluru and the surrounding desert landscape. A short walk from most hotels in the area, this sand dune lookout provides an ideal vantage point to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over Uluru. Additionally, visitors can also enjoy stargazing at Ewing Lookout for a mesmerizing experience under the night sky.
Imalung lookout is a great little spot to view Uluṟu from the campground/resort area. The walk is very easy going and quite stunning for being so close to the lodging areas. The path is surrounded by lush and beautiful desert flowers. Grab a cold beverage and make your way to the top of the hill! Highly recommended.

Awesome quick walk from any part of the resort. We came from Sails and walking up the hill to be greeted by the sight of Uluru is magic! Palya!
Lisa S — Google review
Nice short walk from all accommodation at the Ayers Rock Resort. Sand gets softer and slightly steeper as you walk up , so for bad knees or elderly take it a little easier. Busy at sunrise and some sunsets, but everyone can view and take photos.
Ivanka M — Google review
The lookout is within a 10 to 15-minute walking distance from the Sails in the Desert hotel. Contrary to what Google Maps suggests, there are actually paths on both the left and right sides of the hotel that lead to the lookout. Unfortunately, the weather on the day I visited was overcast and cloudy, which meant I missed out on what could have been spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Nonetheless, the lookout is easily accessible and still worth the walk for its panoramic perspective of the area.

Amazing spot to view Uluru! The path leads from all directions of hotels and campgrounds in the resort and very easy to access. A bit of a hill but very easy climb with kids.
Dahms C — Google review
If you are staying at the resort, it's great place to catch Uluru sunrise or sunset. It's 5-10 min walk from all sides of the resort and there are well defined paths from the hotel side and campground side. And in August, the plants all around were great as well
Arun S — Google review
It is close to the hotel area, and it is only a short walk to the top. The view is incredible and amazing.
Sung H — Google review
A short walk from the village brings you to the top of Imalung Lookout. The view isn’t bad but to say it’s the best view is a bit of a stretch. You need to get a lot closer than this. Still, it’s a very pleasant view point if you’re in the area to see the area and get your bearings. The Olgas. Being only just visible above the trees and buildings.

Wintjiri Wiru offers an absolutely stunning experience with a nicely built boardwalk and beautiful sunset views of Uluru. The food and drinks are tasty, and the service is attentive, exceeding expectations. The dinner experience includes delicious canapes and a picnic box featuring bush tucker like crocodile, emu, kangaroo, and ants. The portion sizes are generous, allowing guests to bring back tasty desserts to their hotel.
This was an excellent place to visit for the drone show. We faced an issue when my Assistance Dog was too scared to get on the coach due to its size, but the tour operators were fantastic and immediately arranged for another staff member to up my wife and I with my dog. The staff member Jamie was excellent and very understanding. He also returned after the show to return us to our accommodation with us asking for this. And there was no extra charge. As a disabled traveller I cannot recommend the event and the team highly enough. The food was excellent and all drinks were included in the price
Arphotoaust — Google review
Last night I had the chance to experience the Wintjiri Wiru at Uluru – a breathtaking performance telling an Aboriginal Mala story using hundreds of drones to light up the desert night. The storytelling, the colours, and the sheer scale were unforgettable. They don’t allow photos or videos during the show, but the sunset beforehand was absolutely stunning with Uluru as the backdrop. If you ever get the chance to visit, I can’t recommend it enough.
Chris M — Google review
After 8yrs travelling Oz and a few years working in theatre, I have to say this was probably the best theatrical production I have seen! It is just the most incredible display of light and sound immersed into the natural landscape and what a backdrop too! The sunset over Kata-Tjuṯa and the fairy floss sky over Uluṟu was spectacular! Worth every dollar, I would not hesitate to attend again! Highly recommend this even if it is the only thing you do while in the area. Rug up this time of year as it gets cold once the sun is down
Keira N — Google review
Last night’s Field of Lights experience was a cracker. None of us knew what to expect from the Wintjiri Wiru drone / laser light and sound show tonight but it set new standards for ‘amazing’. Generous bevvies, yummy boxed cheese/fruit/dessert and individual blankies for the evening chill added up to a primo experience. Photos were restricted due to cultural restraints but suffice to say we were taken to a bespoke venue that made use of Uluṟu as a backdrop and the surrounding landscape and flora as vital elements of the sound and light show. Jaw-dropping and spellbinding, it led us through the Mala story we had just read and experienced through visiting key sites at Uluṟu today. The show brought all the key elements of the story to life in a really meaningful way and the impact was heightened by the recency of our being in the physical locations. What a day!

This was by far one of the highlights of our recent trip to visit Uluru! Like the name Wintjiri Wiru suggests, this is an absolutely beautiful view on every horizon! The drone show, lasers, music and story of the Mala as told by the Traditional Custodians of this land, were so beautifully overwhelming in this incredible setting. Coupled with a choice of local beers & wines, gourmet cheese box, & a blanket to keep warm, this was such a beautiful experience, one that will stay with us forever. I highly recommend this experience if you come to Uluru!

Absolutely loved this experience combining amazing views, thoughtful service and cultural extravaganza showing the history and tours of this land. Much respect to the organisers for show casing it so beautifully. This was one of a lifetime experience for us. Definitely recommend this to everyone who visits this place!

Quite amazing how an ancient story can be presented to integrate with modern life and with the landscape. An extraordinary achievement in one of the most spiritual and beautiful settings in Australia. Wonderful hospitality and we were very full with food and drinks. We had the sunset dinner option and it was so wonderful to spend the extra time on the deck just taking in the scenery and watching Uluru change colour whilst sipping cocktails and enjoying canapés. Our teenagers enjoyed some mocktails. You can’t take video or photos of the show but that is quite okay as it’s best to enjoy in person in situ. There are blankets for you to be more comfortable and as twilight comes a lovely prepared picnic basket is provided of savouries cheese, bread, water and sweets. We saw the twilight drinks group join us and then as the darkness set in the drone show started. There are toilets on site and the bar is very generous. Great for couples, families, big groups, all abilities so long as you can get on/off a coach bus. Definitely buy tickets in advance. Be aware sometimes the drones don’t fly if there is too much wind. Highly recommend if you are in Uluru.

Beware of tourist rip-offs! We booked a drone show for over 400 Australian dollars for two people. The price included a snack box with crackers and cheese, as well as wine. Since we don't drink alcohol, this was of absolutely no interest to us. We watched the sunset for almost an hour, which is just as beautiful from the official viewpoint included in the park entrance fee. The show was supposed to start at 7 pm. Instead of the drone show, which was supposedly canceled due to high winds, we were only presented with a laser show. A few laser lights ran across the meadow, and after ten minutes, it was all over. All in all, the whole experience lasted one and a half hours, including the transfer to and from the hotel. It's a great business idea to sell overpriced wine and cheese. Make sure you can drink enough wine to make it worthwhile.

Naninga Lookout is a popular spot for visitors staying at the nearby campgrounds and hotels. The lookout offers stunning views of Uluru, Kata Tjuta Dunes, and the surrounding landscape, making it an ideal location to witness breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and starry skies. The campground itself provides well-maintained facilities including hot showers, clean toilets, laundry services, a pool, volleyball court, mini-golf for kids, and a playground.
A lookout point within easy walking distance from the campground. It's a place where you can enjoy the sunrise, sunset, and the starry sky. From the lookout, you can also see the Kata Tjuṯa Dunes.

A beautiful spot to watch the sun go down and the changing colors of Uluru. It's just a viewing spot by an easy walk from the parking or from the various accommodation options. A raised walkway means you don't have to trudge through the soft red sand and a few tables to sit at.

PROS: Although you drive on red dirt, the actual tenting/caravaning grounds are either grassed or clean grey rocks (not sure what theyre called). But very clean. Facilities well-maintained. Hot&cold showers. 10 cubicles. 10 toilets including 1 very spacious disabled one. Baby change table. Shared laundry avail, plus 1 washing machine and 1 dryer (4x 1$ coins) in both the ladies & men's. Clothesline available for all. Has a pool, volleyball court, mini kids golf, kids playground. Convenient, very close proximity to grocery shops, petrol, newsagents, cafes & miscellaneous shops. About 15-20minutes drive to all Yalara's tourist attractions. CONS: Extreme hot weather! Could do with shade sails in pool area. Definitely one of the cleanest campgrounds.

At Outback Sky Journeys, guests have the opportunity to embark on a celestial adventure with the resident astronomer from Voyages Ayers Rock Resort. Delve into the rich mythology of the southern night sky, discovering how ancient cultures interpreted constellations like the Southern Cross. With telescopes in hand, explore an array of celestial wonders including different constellations, stars, and planets while gaining insight into their significance.
Amazing experience great way to see the night sky and get some knowledgeable information about stars and planets. Great for all ages. Bring your mind and enjoy the night sku

We arrived in Yulara that afternoon and the Outback Sky Journey was our first experience in the area. The clear night sky was amazing and Eddie and his assistant Mikayla were very knowledgeable and helpful. The use of the two telescopes was an incredible experience. Yulara would be the perfect place for the NT government to build an observatory, because there are so many tourists visiting the area. It would be an added attraction.
Thelma L — Google review
Extremely Disappointing Stargazing Experience I highly do not recommend Outback Sky Journeys. This was the only letdown on an otherwise incredible trip to Uluru. The experience was extremely underwhelming. We were taken to an area just behind the car park in the resort, where passing headlights from vehicles kept flashing directly into our eyes, completely ruining any attempt at proper stargazing. The guide insisted we not use our phones, yet the spot was so poorly chosen and light-polluted that we could barely see anything meaningful in the sky. The telescope looked outdated, and the objects shown were the same ones clearly visible to the naked eye. No planets, no nebulas, no Milky Way arches — nothing that couldn’t be identified using a free sky app. The guide mostly pointed at stars and recited basic facts — nothing insightful, and certainly not worth the premium price charged for this experience. Honestly, it felt like a waste of money and time. For something that’s supposed to be magical and awe-inspiring under Uluru’s skies, this was poorly executed and disappointing from start to finish.
K K — Google review
The tour was fantastic. The team was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got to know some great stories, and it was easy to follow the laser beam in the sky. Pair of telescopes helped us to see things that are otherwise not visible to the eyes. The only thing I wish could be better is the occasional light pollution from the town. The site is still pretty close to the town, so that distracts a bit. The sky will look nicer when the surrounding light pollution is minimised. 5 stars to the efforts of the guide and the team.
Nayandeep S — Google review
Absolutely fabulous! Loved every minute of it. Very knowledgeable and made it very fun to listen to. Great being able to see through the telescopes too! Thank you!
Michael R — Google review
Photos on the company website show scenes of the night sky with Uluru in the background and with people standing out in the bush looking through a telescope at the stars. This is misleading. What happens is you meet the guide at the town center and follow him to a cleared area at the back of the shopping center parking lot. It is fairly dark there, but there are lights from buildings in and around the town, not the pristine darkness expected. Uluru was not visible. Two nights before this we went on a different excursion that took place quite far from town. Even with a lot of haze and some clouds in the sky on that night, the star viewing was vastly better than on this tour. That still surprises me because on the day of this tour there were no clouds at all and no haze that we noticed - so it must've been the nearby lights that diminished the viewing. The guide was knowledgeable, but was not always easy to hear (especially when he was facing away from the group). He used a laser pen to point out areas of the sky, which was helpful, but part of what he pointed to was obscured by a nearby tree. Attendees were invited to have a look at the sky through one of two telescopes - which was nice.

Amazing experience ! Can't wait for the observatory building !
Aude V — Google review
We had an incredible experience with Outback Sky Journeys! Eddie’s knowledge of the night sky is absolutely amazing – we learned so much about the stars, including how to identify constellations like Scorpio and our nearest star Alpha Centauri, and even how to find the South Pole just by using the stars. The way he explained everything made it so easy to follow and truly fascinating. This honestly should be the #1 activity after visiting Uluru ( which is basically out of this world) and Kata Tjuṯa. We did have a some hiccup with our booking, but Eddie and his team went out of their way to help us get to his talk, and we’re so glad they did. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Red Centre!

Visitors can enjoy activities such as trekking the red sands around Uluru, taking in the sunset with a glass of sparkling wine, and embarking on day trips to King's Canyon. The company provides knowledgeable staff and comfortable transportation for an enjoyable exploration of these iconic Australian landmarks.
We booked the Day Red Centre Highlights (U4LS) tour which included accommodations and I really must commend AAT Kings for the wonderful service and arrangements. Everything was planned and organised beautifully from the moment we landed until we returned to Ayers Rock Airport. Of the many tours that we were a part of (which were all wonderful), Jessica was our tour leader for two and she was fabulous. Witty commentary, knowledgable about the area and attentive to our needs. She single handedly managed a big group that hiked Kings Canyon and was very patient throughout. Thumbs up AAT Kings and the team you have at Yulara. We will be back.

We spent five days and four nights in Uluru, and it was an incredible experience. The larger tour had up to 50 people, which could be quite chaotic. However, we enjoyed a magical sunset tour with bubbles then onto a BBQ, and we even got to see the Milky Way! Highly recommend a dinner in the outback to see the Milky Way!

Did the Kakadu day tour. It's an early start but there's a pitstop for breakfast. First stop for rock art, then a buffet lunch. Then the Yellow River cruise which was amazing. The highlight was choosing the scenic flight. So totally worth it as you can see soo much from the air, our Driver and Guide Mel was wonderful as was Prem who did the return trip home. I think guided day trips like these are much better than hiring a car and driving. You learn soo much from the commentaries.

Alex and Steph were absolutely fantastic tour guides for the sacred Uluru sunset experience. Their sense of humour and approachable nature made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. They were always smiling, and their knowledge of the area was impressive, answering every question with ease. They went above and beyond to ensure our safety and kept everything running smoothly. Their promptness in getting us back to the buses was much appreciated. The scenery and overall trip were absolutely stunning, and I greatly enjoyed the rim walk itself and the accessibility provided. The driver was also kind and professional. Unfortunately, the experience with our guide left much to be desired. While I appreciate an emphasis on safety, the risks of the rim walk were overstated repeatedly to the point of scaring a number of people in the group, which felt unnecessary. During the trek, the guide required everyone to stay behind her and would raise her voice at anyone who didn’t, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. There were also a few remarks made that came across as inappropriate and unprofessional. For the cost of this tour, I had expected to feel supported and encouraged, not treated like a school child. While the views were breathtaking, the lack of patience and professionalism from the guide significantly impacted the overall experience.

We completed the Uluru Base Walk yesterday, but unfortunately, my knee pain was aggravated by the long distance, and my friend developed a muscle strain. As we had already signed up for the Kata Tjuta & Valley of the Winds tour this afternoon (graded 4 for dynamic fitness levels), we were concerned about our ability to complete the walk—and worried that we might hold back the group, as had happened during the Uluru walk. We visited the AAT Kings counter at 9:15 am in the Ayers Rock Resort Town Square and were warmly assisted by Louise. We were truly touched by her kindness and proactive attitude. Despite the limited options available—since we had already booked the final sunrise tour for the next morning and were due to leave the resort by noon—Louise took the time to explore alternatives for us. She assured us she would inform the tour guide of my mobility concerns and see if the coach driver, who was also a qualified guide, could bring us to Walpa Gorge instead—a shorter but still scenic option graded 3, though with a rocky path. Her thoughtfulness and desire for us to still enjoy the experience at our own pace meant a lot. When we boarded the tour, Jessie, our guide, reassured us that we would be well looked after. She encouraged us to attempt the first lookout and decide from there if we felt up to continuing. Chloe, our coach driver, kindly stayed behind with us to lend her support and assess our pace. We made it to the first lookout—last in the group—but Chloe gently advised us that continuing to the second lookout, with its steeper incline, might be too challenging. She offered to bring us, and any interested tour mates, to Walpa Gorge instead. Three others chose to join us, and Chloe graciously guided us through the beautiful alternative route. We are deeply grateful to Louise, Jessie, and Chloe for going above and beyond. You could have simply told us there was no refund and left us to manage on our own. Instead, each of you took the extra step to ensure we were supported, included, and able to make the most of our time. Your kindness, empathy, and exceptional service made this trip especially meaningful. A heartfelt thank you—and a special shoutout to AAT Kings for having such dedicated and compassionate team members. You made our journey truly memorable.

Outback BBQ & Bar offers a variety of good food options, including gluten-free pasta salad and non-alcoholic beer and wine. However, the experience was marred by conflicting information about bringing dogs to the restaurant. Despite being told by the campground reception that dogs were allowed, upon arrival, the staff provided an unfriendly response and initially refused to allow them inside. Eventually, they were relegated to a table outside in an area where people wait for buses and had to endure cigarette smoke from other guests.
We were looking for a halal BBQ option in the Ayers Rock resort and ended up here. The front desk receptionist at the counter was not sure, so she asked the kitchen. And soon after that chef came out and met us. We are lucky as all of the meats in the BBQ were halal on that day (it is better to check with the front counter every time). He even helped us find a cleaned BBQ stove. It was a self-service BBQ restaurant, and even after that Chef Romeo came back and checked if our BBQ was cooked properly or not. Chef Romeo's service was top-notch, and we enjoyed the BBQ and salad buffet. All of the items were wonderful.

I think the outback restaurant and the kiosk share the same dining area along with the 2 pool tables and a lot of tables and benches and upturned barrels with stools. The place is open and airy. There are no walls. The roof is curved corrugated and there are fans working full blast this middle of August. It's very pleasant here. The QR code on each bench table doesn't take you to the menu as it says. It takes you into the maze of Ayers Rock Resort - not helpful.

Good atmosphere, decent experience cooking your own meat on the provided hot plates, but truly extortionate pricing. Understand that the lack of competition naturally lends itself to this, but $45 for a 200g scotch fillet, $38 I believe it was for 3 low quality floury sausages really adds a sour taste.

The lemon 🍋 soda bitters were decent, and the beer was cold. Prices were reasonable. It’s a solid spot for an earthy camping vibe with budget-friendly dorms. Shared bathroom facilities

Good place to experience some more authentic OZ pub style dining. Cook your own steak was a novelty and easier than expected with bbq plates hot and ready to go without fuss. Paired with a salad bar it makes for a solid meal. Welcome change to from the “resort food”. The night we were there it also had live music. Best place to come for a bit of a vibe around this hood.

Does not worth the price for $48 for getting one piece of scotch filet. For salad bar only are already 38 dollar. Which is insanely pricey considering the quality and types to choose from

Pretty decent hotel bar attached to The Australian Pioneer Hotel. Apparently you need to show your Room card before being served. They explained it was because of the drinking problem there. I didn't realize that the drinking problem in Australia was localized to the NT. They have live music on Friday. One man band he did a good job. The drinks are on the extortion side but what alcohol isn't in Australia. Beer selection could be improved hint hint Alice Springs Brewing Co. You already got your Ginger beer on tap. 😉

The Waḻpa Lobby Bar is a modern and welcoming establishment that embodies luxury hospitality in Uluru. With its floor-to-ceiling windows and red-hued furnishings, the bar offers a stunning view of its surroundings, creating an immersive experience for visitors. It is known for its Indigenous-inspired cuisine and signature cocktails, such as the Myrtle Royale, which features gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon myrtle, and sparkling wine.
Walpa Bar is open for food ONLY til 5.30pm, then serves as just a bar. This is crazy in my eyes, as you are limited in many ways in the resort for food choices and affordable ones at that. They obviously want you to eat at Ilkari or the Pira Pool Bar outside, but where the minimum price is about $25 for chips at Pira, it’s not inviting. And disappointing there is a child’s menu that is fairly priced. I actually ordered fish and chips even tho I am not under 15 years old which is stipulated. It was the best meal I had!!! Also had crab cakes that were delicious. Cocktails good but $27.50. Suggestion: keep Walpa open all day. The hotel is so large that you will keep more people eating here instead of venturing further. Staff who are mostly tourists were very good. Reception side of lobby bar is a lot hotter than the inside section.

Have to say was very underwhelming here, they run out of food very easily and couldnt get my first 2 options. Had to go for the cookie which wasnt bad, staff are all new and are not well trained. Food incl chips are below average and cocktails are very expensive but tasty. Senior Staff heavily pushed the $102 buffet over eating here.

The venue is beautifully designed and the staff were very friendly. I got the wagyu burger which was very tasty but so messy to eat. Liquid from the burger filled the bottom on the bowl once I started eating so it was quite the trick for me to eat it without causing a mess of myself haha! The Iced coffees and frappes were watery rather than creamy or milk based. Everything was fairly priced.

We had an early lunch here after seeing the sunrise at Uluru. It was handy that it opened at 10:30am for food. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was a little underwhelming. Wouldn't recommend the vegan salad - maybe try the burger instead. The vegan dessert was pleasantly nice. Drinks were good price, food was a little higher but expected for NT but I think the food would be elevated more with small tweaks like the burgers having a burger bun vs sandwich bread. Lovely little area and interesting seating options. Surrounding artwork was sublime. Service was a bit hit and miss but we were there until late. Wish we could have poured our own water or been given a jug as we went through it quickly and it wasn't always refilled. Staff were friendly and polite though.

The Kuniya Walk is a short and easy 1-kilometer track that offers a unique perspective of life around Uluru. Starting at the Kuniya car park, this wheelchair-accessible walk leads to the Mutitjulu Waterhole, one of the few permanent water sources in the area. Despite being located in an arid desert, this lush and green oasis is home to various bird species and other wildlife.
We came here about 2 hours before sunset and did the perimiter walk around Uluru. It took us 2 hours walking at a brisk pace stopping around 6 times. Lovely to walk at the time we did as there were very few people and it felt as if we had Uluru to ourselves.

Majestic and sacred. Must on the buckets list

Very toasty; even in the winter. We completed the base hike around the entriety of the rock. It took us about 3 hours and that is considering a moderate amount of stops (probably 5); stopping at least 5 minutes each. The flies are quite a nuisance, so I very much recommend bringing a net to make the walk enjoyable. Sunscreen is a must as well.

Nice flat walk, easy for most people and not too long. Parking for cars.

Uluṟu Kuniya Walk The park permit is for 3 days, so as this was on our 4th day we got the permit extended for 2 days which is a free option when booking. From the opposite side to Mala Walk is Kuniya Walk. This is a very different view of Uluru and so beautiful with waves of erosion through the rock. This is only a short walk with a number of caves, finally leading to a water hole.

Guests can expect a tranquil environment with amenities such as lockers, showers, and a calming ambiance.
I had a amazing facial by Nadine. She was incredibly good. It was so relaxing and was lovely to be in her company. If we ever visit again the hotel I will definitely book another treatment!
Kay P — Google review
I was regrettably disappointed by my experience at the Red Ochre Spa. Having booked a Bespoke Facial at no small cost, I expected a tailored treatment; however, no questions were asked, nor was my skin assessed, leaving me to wonder what exactly made it “Bespoke.” The ambiance was far from soothing. Ceiling lights shone directly down on me, and instrumental covers of pop songs played in the background, making it difficult to feel truly relaxed. The facial itself lacked fluidity, with clunky transitions between steps. The therapist concentrated excessively on my chin, neglecting areas like my temples and offering only cursory attention to the rest of my face. This was particularly problematic during the exfoliation, where my chin was harshly and uncomfortably scrubbed for an extended period. By the end of the session, my skin still felt dry—especially around the lower face. I even had to return to my hotel room to apply my own moisturiser. For a treatment priced at $180 and marketed as bespoke, I found the technique and overall experience at Red Ochre Spa underwhelming and disappointing.

Had the most exceptional experience at red ochre spa! I had Lorraine and they were absolutely brilliant. Could not recommend them enough. Luxury at its best. Thank you!

Absolutely wonderful experience at Red Ochre spa. I did the Red Ochre retreat, 75 minute flash facial and massage with therapist Emma who was absolutely fantastic. The whole experience with Emma was incredibly relaxing, beautifully executed and an all round amazing experience. The spa itself is beautiful, with a robe and slippers provided on arrival and a beautifully set out waiting area and relaxation area after your treatment. Really happy I visited and would recommend to others. The lady at reception was also fantastic.
Claire S — Google review
The environment is relaxing and welcoming. I had a 90 min massage with Alycia to round out my holiday, and it was an enjoyable experience with a great therapist
Leanne J — Google review
I had a body massage and it is nice to treat yourself while you’re there. Though I wish a little head or feet massage is included considering the price you pay. The massage is softer than a Thai massage so if you’re used to Thai massage you should ask for firm pressure. Must book in advance to secure a spot as they get full being the only spa there. Clean & calming environment with lockers, shower and toilet, temp in the room was just right and staff is very efficient & always professional. You have to remove all clothes & wear the disposal underwear, robe & slippers provided. Clothes & personal things can be locked away in your own personal locker.

Lovely clean room! Comfortable bed and well priced for Yulara! Shampoo etc in room was really nice and great way to show off Australian products! Staff very friendly and helpful after a long work journey to nearby communities. Parking was close to the room but not directly outside and sometimes not much parking available close to my room. Short walk to the main square of Yulara.

After reading mixed reviews i can Honestly say this is a fabulous hotel ...the rooms are all newly refurbished and very big ...beds super comfortable showers well appointed with hair-dryers shampoo ect ...lovely swimming pool and kiosk which has some of the cheapest food in the resort . The only gripe is that most staff are backpackers and hardly any Australians which really is a must for an outback Aussie experience. However all in all a great 3 night stay .
Karen M — Google review
Outback Hotel was better than I expected. Check in experience was friendly, professional and easy. The standard room with 2 Queen beds was clean and nice. The bathroom looks like it's been renovated. The pool is great but what I loved the most was the self cook BBQ. There was a good variety of different meats to pick and cook on the clean BBQs . A buffet salad bar was included and we ate it whilst listening to music on stage. What a wonderful experience. And I got to taste camel and emu sausage for the first time . The hotel is a short walk- approx 12 mins into town or go on the free bus.
Dianne F — Google review
The lodge was good. I stayed in 20 bed dorm. Found it fine. Although a bush floor mat at the door would be good as so much grit gets inside. Maybe a broom in the rooms. Had to brush my feet before getting into bed each night. The toilets and showers were a little dirty. The shower walls need a wipe down. The week I was there the same showers had the same dirt and grim. I used a paper towel to wipe one down and it came off easy enough. Shower soap dispensers need to to be checked. Many were out of soap or the push functions were broken. Bit more attention to detail. Toilets were okay. Venue was good lots of space. Great little look out. Library and pool as good. Beware there can be school groups here and the pool became a little less relaxing due to loud screaming. But that’s to be expected. Each night we had live music until 9:30-10pm. I’m not a live music person but the talent was actually really good. The staff at reception were good and welcoming too.

Great location. Beautiful spots for sunrise and sunset without driving into the park. Great bar and vibe. Grab some take away drinks and head up a sand dune to watch the sunset. Very safe. Service was wonderful. By car the shops/cafes seem a trek but there's a path that cuts through so you can walk there in about 10 mins. Would absolutely stay again.
Trudy Y — Google review
Best accommodation in Yulara in my opinion. Rooms are nice, great bar area with live music and plenty of seating options. Food is nice, especially from the kiosk and especially the pizza. Big pool and all round nice place.
Hari E — Google review
I stayed in an ensuite room with my daughter. The room was much smaller than anticipated but that wasn’t the worst problem. There was hair in the shower grate, mould on the grout in the shower and then to top it off lifted the pillow to pull back the sheets to find a big black stain on the bedsheet. Went to reception to speak with management who apologised that it was not up to standard. There was an offer for housekeeping to come in and clean the room which I declined as my daughter was in bed. I was provided with a clean sheet, vouchers for breakfast and a promise that a note would be left for the hotel manager & that housekeeping would give the room a thorough clean the next day. Housekeeping didn’t turn up until 5pm the next day & had no knowledge of the situation. We decided to leave a day earlier than planned & when I explained to the reception staff what had happened all they could say I am sorry about that. Care factor zero. Outback Lodge you need to do better especially when paying just under $300/night for the room.
Karen R — Google review
I would strongly advise against staying here. The room was far below any acceptable standard of cleanliness or maintenance. When we arrived, we found: • Dirty floors with stains, old marks, and debris in the grout • Dust and dirt in every corner, along the walls, and under the beds • Stained toilet seat and an unhygienic, broken toilet brush holder • Bedding with marks on it • Loose screws, cracked areas, and an overall neglected appearance • Furniture that felt unstable and poorly maintained The photos online do not reflect the reality. The room felt more like an unclean hostel than a hotel. For the price charged, this is completely unacceptable. We expected a simple room — we did not expect to sleep in a place that didn’t even meet basic hygiene standards. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to anyone.

As a group of four adults we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. We ate at the buffet restaurant and at the cafe and both offered amazing yummy food! Service was fantastic, friendly and attentive staff. We really appreciated the diversity of all staff members and want to give a BIG shout out to Lara in the cafe. Her service was top notch! We will be recommending Sails to all our friends and family back home and will not consider staying anywhere else. Thank you🤗🤗

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Sails in the Desert for 4 nights during our Uluru visit in early May and it was perfect. From the complimentary airport pick-up on our arrival to drop-off, the service and convenience was faultless. Our room and bathroom were large and spacious with a big balcony perfect for relaxing in one of the deck chairs. I particularly appreciated the extra touch of soy milk also provided as part of the tea/ coffee amenities in the room. In fact, I was very impressed with the whole Ayres Rock Resort and think a stay at any of the different accommodations (depending on your budget) would be comfortable and convenient. However, if you want a touch of luxury, I would definitely recommend Sails.

Our family had the best time at Sails in The Desert. We stayed during the October school holidays and received warm, kind and welcoming service from the moment we arrived. Very family friendly but also quiet enough to have your own space and relax in luxury. Convenient free shuttle transfers from the airport to the hotel. Every staff member from check-in, to dining in each of the restaurants, to room service, or just general queries in passing we were met with warm genuine smiles and genuine helpfulness, kindness and attentive service each time. Our room was spacious and clean. Pool was nice and cool and refreshing after a day of exploring. Food was generous and delicious at the buffet breakfast, lunch, buffet dinners and room service food- all tasty and good options and portions especially when you’re in the middle of the desert- we were impressed. Thank you for a lovely stay, we were sad to leave, we will be back one day for more adventures.

I had an unforgettable time at Sails in the Desert with my partner and parents. Every morning we loved the Ilkari breakfast buffet, and the pool bar was perfect for lazy afternoon drinks. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and the shower was great, with Wiru Quandong & Wattle Seed shampoo & conditioner adding a lovely local touch. Housekeeping and laundry were super helpful, and the resort grounds are absolutely stunning. The front desk made organising our tours seamless, providing maps, timetables, and even arranging our helicopter ride — everything was effortless. We also picked up some beautiful jewellery from the resort shop — perfect keepsakes from our trip. The first day was a bit noisy at the pool with kids, which was tricky for me as a nurse coming all the way from QLD craving some quiet time from the busy hospital setting. Thankfully, after that it was wonderfully peaceful — a truly magical escape!

Stayed here for three nights as part of a Luxury Escapes deal. Overall, it was a good experience, though not quite superb. The facilities were clean and well maintained, but parts of the property do feel a little dated. Given the remoteness of the location, that’s completely understandable. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of options and good quality food. On the third morning, staff initially said breakfast wasn’t included in my booking, even though I’d had it the previous two days as part of the package. Fortunately, they let me in at the end and sorted it out without fuss. Check-in was quick and smooth, but the front desk staff didn’t seem very knowledgeable about local activities or even about the on-site EV charging, which I later discovered myself in the carpark. In-room dining was very good and surprisingly well priced, though there was no alcohol available for in-room service. Room service overall was excellent, fast, consistent and friendly. My room was spotless and serviced daily. One thing I really appreciated was the air conditioning, which could be set well below 16°C. That’s rare for most hotels and an absolute blessing in the desert heat. The small village area of the resort was fine, with a few shops and cafés. Nothing particularly special but convenient enough for essentials. Checkout was smooth and efficient. Overall, a comfortable and clean place to stay with good food, solid service and a few quirks. Not quite the luxury level the name suggests, but considering how remote Yulara is, Sails in the Desert delivers a pleasant and relaxing stay.

The reception staff were quite unfriendly and seemed unfamiliar with their own hotel systems and facilities. Most were foreign workers, and the warm Aussie hospitality we all appreciate was noticeably missing. A bit of customer service training could really go a long way here, as interacting with them often felt like an inconvenience. The accommodation itself felt more like a motel and didn’t justify the high price. On a positive note, the woman who cleaned the rooms was lovely and genuinely friendly - she’d be great at reception. The buffet for both dinner and breakfast was good, albeit a little pricey, which is understandable given the remote location. The hotel’s proximity to the town centre was convenient, which was one of the few highlights. Overall, I was disappointed, as the experience didn’t match the premium price.

Don't waste your money on a terrace room. I paid $855 night.. Not worth it. The verandah is cluttered with too much furniture. The view is pointless. Mostly blocked by trees and honestly, very little to look at. The room was large and spacious. The air con worked well. +++ The food was expensive but amazing!!. Dining staff were lovely. Buffet dinner is $103 pp adult. Children $60. Delicious and a great choice of different foods. Pool area was great but needed more sun umbrellas. The desert awakening tour with Rick was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable. It was very well priced for the hrs we were gone. The sunset dinner tour with field of lights was also amazing. We hired a car. Expensive but worth it. On checking out the lady at reception didn't ask how our stay was & didn't ask if we needed airport transfers. Just told me i owed money, I paid, and I didn't even get a thanks for staying!!!

We stayed at Sails for our honeymoon. Our room was spacious and had a decent sized bathroom, a safe, good aircon, balcony and comfy bed. Many bugs enter the room which is part of the experience however, we had 3 little dead beetles that were with us the entire stay which house keeping unfortunately failed to vaccum. The resort itself had a nice pool and the food at all of the restaurants on site was nice. We enjoyed Pira by the pool had the most. Buffet dinner at Ikari is worth the $100 (they have seafood). It was a little disappointing that breakfast isn't included when your paying a wild amount of money to stay at this hotel. We enjoyed our stay here but would likely choose a slightly cheaper option if we were to visit the red centre again. Im not convinced it was good value for money.

Supermarket
Voyages Ayers Rock Resort IGA is a convenient spot to stock up on snacks and drinks while visiting Yulara, Australia. The store offers a variety of products at reasonable prices, including local foods and gluten-free items. Despite its small size, the store provides a good selection of fresh produce, meat, and dairy. The friendly staff are always ready to assist visitors with a smile.
Great to visit this place. Made my day chatting with the gentleman at the checkout. They’re working so hard to keep tourists happy and healthy by working during holidays. We were travelling and they were working hard staying away from home. Was surprised to see they have so many items in stock. Price was reasonable given the reason they were located in a remote place like Uluru. Best wishes for you all for your hard work. Will visit again definitely in future
Joydip R — Google review
Visited the store in September 2024 it was empty and literally one of the worst supermarkets I have ever shopped at. Fast forward to last week August 2025 and WOW what a transformation. Obviously have a store manager in there now who knows their stuff. Fantastic availability across the store. Fresh departments were fully stocked . Shop fully faced and presented. Well done Ayers Rock resort for turning the supermarket around and delivering a great shopping experience in the middle of the outback. 5/5

I recently had the pleasure of shopping at IGA Ayers Rock, and I must say, I was beyond impressed! The store is impeccably stocked with everything you could possibly need—whether you’re looking for fresh produce, pantry staples, or specialty items. It’s clear that the team behind IGA Ayers Rock takes great care in curating a diverse selection that caters to all tastes and needs. One of the highlights for me was the exceptional variety they offer. No matter what I was looking for, I was able to find it, from gourmet ingredients to household essentials. But what really stood out was their gluten-free section. It’s one of the best I’ve seen, with a fantastic array of products ranging from gluten-free bread to cakes and even snacks. As someone who has to avoid gluten, it’s such a relief to shop somewhere that makes it easy to find delicious and quality gluten-free options. Overall, IGA Ayers Rock is a top-tier store, offering convenience, variety, and a great shopping experience.

The only supermarket in this resort town. You will find pretty much what you need for lunches and picnics etc. They do have a reasonable range of greenery to go with a packed lunch - even pre packed coleslaw. Prices are much higher than major cities. Roast chicken is delivered 3 times a day - check their delivery times. We stayed in this town for 6 days and chicken go pretty soon after delivery. You will find much more here than Kings Canyon general store - so if you are going there from here, stock up.
Maria N — Google review
We called in for a look while staying in town and the prices actually weren't that bad.. the meat was the same as home or even some things cheaper. Snacks/drinks a little bit dearer but nothing too extreme that people mention. They had lots of specials on too like any normal IGA. We stocked up in Alice Springs as I didn't know what to expect from this supermarket, but you could easily get your everyday supplies here for sandwiches, breakfast supplies, fruit etc. Similar size and range to some small IGA at home. Some areas were not stocked fully but there was still plenty to choose from.

Everything you need, so close to all the resorts. Some low stars here on high prices. Just remember you are in the middle of nowhere and the cost to transport. I found it to be fair pricing. Hot take away food also available at Outback hotel with free shuttle bus doing laps every 15 mins up till 12am.
Andrew — Google review
Stock was limited, with many fridges and shelves empty. Nevertheless, it remained the only supermarket/convenience store in the area where you could grab snacks and drinks.

Desert Awakenings offers a captivating experience in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The morning begins with a breathtaking sunrise view of Uluru from a high lookout point, where the rock's imposing presence against the red earth and clear blue sky is truly awe-inspiring. A knowledgeable guide leads visitors on a tour around the base of Uluru, sharing Anangu Dreamtime creation stories and pointing out significant markings on the rock's surface.
Desert Awakening Sunrise Tour – 13 June 2025 Our experience on the Desert Awakening Sunrise Tour with Tushara as our driver and guide was truly enlightening. Tushara brought the journey to life with her wonderful sense of humour and deep knowledge of Uluru and its surroundings. The Aboriginal creation stories she shared were beautifully delivered and added a rich cultural layer to the scenic drive and treks. Her storytelling and engaging presence made the early start more than worthwhile — a memorable and meaningful experience all round. ⸻

Wow! We had the most incredible experience on our tour with Rick. His knowledge and passion was so evident and the experience felt very personal. We started the day with a lovely breakfast watching the sun rise before heading into the national park. We walked around several spots around the rock and Rick shared incredible stories of cultural history and his own knowledge of the flora and fauna. Nothing ever felt rushed and was an incredible way to see and learn about Uluṟu. Thank you Rick!!

The experience was amazing because we had such a professional, loving, funny and very knowledgeable young lady as our tourist guide with Voyages Tours. Her name is Chrissy and I will recommend this particular tour to visitors because it is in the early morning, includes breakfast while watching the Sunrise in a private area out of the multitude or crowded, as it can become. The tour is freshly guided by this lovely lady and the laughs and smiles becomes part of the tour!!! Love it💖

What a wonderful experience. The early start driving through the desert out to the viewing platform with a delicious breakfast and coffee to watch the sunrise over Uluru was amazing. Then down to Uluru where we spent a few hours learning about the cultural significance Uluru has for the Aṉangu people, the history and the geology of the area. Thank you to our guide Luke who shared his knowledge respectfully and sensitively. Highly recommend.

Our guide was the lovely young Sri Lankan lady, Thushra. Honestly, I think she’s the best guide in Uluru! Her storytelling is incredible — so entertaining and engaging, especially for an early morning tour. Her bubbly personality is just perfect for the job. She’s hilarious too — we laughed non-stop for six hours until our tummies hurt! And the way she drives that big bus? Like a real-life Knight Rider, Thushra is also super knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna and answered every question with ease. She was so kind and attentive, especially to the elderly guests during the walks. She’s a true asset to the company. This tour was 100% worth it, really good breakfast and sunrise was spectacular, we’re so glad we booked it. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful morning. The location for breakfast and sunrise was breathtaking. Nice early start to the morning and I generally hate mornings. Jack was extremely good which made it a great experience and the chef got the fire going and the heaters on before we arrived. It was a great breakfast then onto what I thought was just a big rock. I came away with some great knowledge and it’s no longer just a big rock. I was extremely happy and would recommend that to anybody.

The Uluru Camel Cup is an annual event that celebrates the sport of camel racing. The race course is located on the outskirts of the Outback Pioneer hotel, and visitors can watch the races from 11am-5pm. Tickets are $10 for day tickets, and $30 for a night party which includes a meal. Helicopter flights to see Uluru are also available for an additional charge of $75.
Day 1 at Outback Pioneer Hotel Start late evening. Day 2 at Camel Farm, the races is from 11am-5pm 30-45mins between each race. $10 for day ticket, $30 for night party (include meal). It's funny to see lovely camel try so hard to run (camel could run at 65km/hr). Don't miss the helicopter flight for $75 fly to Uluru, last flight apprx. 5.30pm which is nicer when its close to sunset. I will be back here again in 2020 for sure! It's a fun activity for all. *Only problem for me is annoying flies, but flies net will help*
