We only went there for food, which was delicious. Beautiful typical Tuscan osteria, efficient and friendly service. Easy reservation by whatsapp. Will definitely come back!

Comparing to other bed and brekfast, this one had a different approach regarding the check in. They provided a self check in possibility by giving a code to acces to the room key.
The breakfast was included in the price but with very limited options (few homemade pastries, coffee and jus).
The room was, as advertised, rustic, in perfect conditions and well maintained.
If your goal is to enjoy of rustic and quiet place this is it.
The worst experience Ive ever made requesting a late check in! Be aware if you want to arrive after 23h00 they charge you 10€ PER PERSON! For what on earth? She even said, if we would be 4 persons, she would take 40€!!!!! What a bad service. Luckily Ive found even a better AirBnb and there it was not at one moment a problem with the late check in. Everything was in the other AirBnb super organised and explained and most importantly: They DIDN't charge extra as this one here! On top the owners are not very well with english and interpreted sentences wrong and got really mad with me. For eg I asked them if 10€ in total would be fine with them. She understood, that i was thinking it was a Fine like police give you. I reported her at AirBnb with her rude, unfriendly and overemotional behaviour! Dont expect here any special customer treat! They only accept if it is there way or you get in serious trouble with them! Very very very bad behaviour towards customers!
We were waiting from 20:00 until 20:30 in front of the restaurant but it stayed closed. We were really disappointed that there wasn’t any notice of it being closed on that day!! Not coming back.
Very neat place! This restaurant is in the old stables from the castle above! The food was good and I felt like I was family there! We got a tour of the wine cellar in the back. I think the pasta I had was home made.
The owner is really arrogant, rude and incompetent. We had a bad experience and he was arguing with us despite he messed up our order. His lack of english language made it everything worst. We will never come back anymore.
Location was great and nice interior. Music was not according to style and was a bit loud. Service was good. Food quality was good but way too price for what was received.

Food was a real palate journey, and portions were of good size (not what you normally expect and fear from fancy places like this!!)
The view is stunning and the service kind and welcoming.. i have a shellfish allergy and the owner managed to create a starter plate just for me, crazily delicious.
Price of course is slightly more then a casual “normal” restaurant but it s all worth it as the you eat while enjoying a stunning view.

Beautiful, quiet location with a lovely, and clean restaurant serving great food.
We had a wonderful dinner on a weeknight while visiting a few weeks back and were able to get seated without a reservation.
The servers were kind, relatively attentive and were helpful as we needed to ensure we had gluten-free food due to a member of our party having Celiac (gluten allergy).

Nice location, with a romantic view on the little harbor of Castiglioncello. Regarding food, the dishes miss the balance of flavors: good quality ingredients are not enough.

Great restaurant to spend a night in, with impressive food quality and a variety of different course selections. However, the prices are a little steep, and there's an abundance of mosquitos flying around, which makes it rather difficult to stay focused on enjoying the atmosphere.

The atmosphere and the view are great one of the best restaurants of Castiglioncello. The price is around 90€ per person, but for some special occasion it's worth it!
You cannot arrive by car or motorcycle, only by walking, really romantic :)

But we waited for menu 30 minutes then we waited tartar and pasta for 45 more minutes then they made bill like we ate 2 pastas instead of one and tried to lie.

They have a small area outside with a nice view; there is no waiting service, but I think the main problem (to me) its the service at the bar. Too slow for a place that has many guest. Also the barista was a little bit unprofessional; but that was good for me because instead of try to sell me a glass of wine from an opened bottle he just gave me a new one 🤣
I spent a day here and I rented a beach umbrella. The lifeguard, originally from Sicily, is cheerful and kind.

After made your reservation, take one hour spare time, to enjoy the panoramic view on the top of mountain, take the Funicular to access the top. You have a small bar (yellow house) on the front where you can buy your ticket and have an appetiser before to go to the restaurant!

A genuine Italian place in a wonderful village, tasty food and great vibes. The staff was friendly and knowledge in speaking English. Not the fastest service, took a while to get the food this evening. Unfortunately a mistake was made, and the wrong dish was delivered, but it was all good because it tasted great.

Nice garden atmosphere. We ate the four cheese and frutti di mare pizzas and thunfish carpaccio . Both pizzas tasted somehow like Elsass Flammkuchen, carpaccio was from smoked fish, it wasn't written on the menu, and too salty. I wouldn't prefer going there for the second time.

I'm usually not the kind of person who orders a full-course dinner, but I am so glad that I tried. I got some prawns with seaweed as a starter, pasta with herring as a first course, a tuna steak with veggies and soy sauce as a second, and some ice cream for dessert. I'm not an expert, but it felt like a blend of Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine. I loved it so much that I came back the next day. It was easily the best food I had this year.

Il Sorpasso is an exceptional dining establishment that offers a delightful culinary experience. The restaurant exudes warmth and hospitality, greeting guests with genuine warmth and professionalism. The kitchen is flawless, showcasing the talent of the young couple who enjoy experimenting with food to create unique and creative dishes. They generously treat visitors to complimentary appetizers and even provide a sneak peek of their delectable desserts.
We came across this place after googling the best burger in Castiglioncello. What awaited us, though, was a fabulous fine-dining experience (they actually do burgers by the pool during the summer season!). The approach to the complex is a odd - it's a ways out of Castiglioncello itself, and the last stretch is on about 250m of white road which, at the time of writing this (shortly after the March 2025 floods impacting Tuscany), was in shoddy condition. But once you get to the complex, all is well. There is plenty of parking, and a short walk to the restaurant.
We were sharing the place with another couple, and were amazed that there weren't any more people there. The staff were lovely and welcoming.
The menu is curious. There are 3 tasting menus, or you can select any two dishes a la carte from any of the 3 menus, giving you a decent set of plates to choose from. We all went down the a la carte route.
We ordered our food and wine, but what came out first was not one, but a trio of amuse bouches - each one a layered mini-meal. Clever stuff, and well-constructed and presented. We each had two courses (I had a pasta mix with provolone, white truffle and potato cream - amazing, my wife a breaded cauliflower floret and our friend a raw shrimp risotto) - we all had a small fillet of croaker for our main (perhaps a little on the too-small side). I had a dessert of focaccia-style aniseed cake with homemade gelato). We finished up with different variations on coffee. The wines (one glass each) were produced at the location, and the red was fab - a good match for the richer foods.
Between courses, we were treated to amazing bread and soft, fluffy home-made butter. We couldn't get enough of this!
The chef came out and we had a good and funny chat with him, and the waitress was wonderful and put up with my strange sense of humour too - there is no snobbery here!
We will be back. In the summer, and maybe finally have that burger by the pool.. and of course another visit to that fine-dining restaurant. Bill amounted to about €70 per person.

a very nice restaurant! Wonderful welcome, perfect hosts and perfect kitchen. Young couple and like to be creative with the food. They served appetizers and even a taste of dessert for free. I do hope when I will come back in the region, I will be able to visit it again! Keep it up!

Our fine dining experience exceeded all expectations. The dishes with specially designed plates were beautifully presented, with creative and delicious flavor combinations that impressed us. The owners were incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring that every detail of our visit was perfect. We also had a stunning sunset view over the vineyard, which made the evening even more magical. Plus, the large parking area made arriving stress-free. Highly recommended!

One of a kind restaurant experience!! We received a warm welcome from the staff and were given a table overlooking the hills and sea. What a beautiful place with an amazing sunset view. We chose to let the chef surprise us with the food and he didn’t let us down. The Italian inspired dishes were absolutely delicious and carefully put together with only Italian ingredients, served on impressive plates together with excellente service. Beautiful place. When you come on a workday there are many free tables to eat but don't be fooled. They will send you downstairs without obvious reason or sensfull explanation. Doesnt matter that you paid an entryfee of 30eur just before.... must be great for the locals but I think they just dont like tourists here.... ah and also EVERYTHING served in plastic. Even the wine. Mediocore food.

Very disappointing experience. Despite the view is stunning, the service and the food are not equally outstanding. Indeed, we had breakfast there and the food was not served at the table, we had to collect our own croissants from the display at the bar and the pastries were most likely not freshly baked at all. It felt like biting cardboard. Unacceptable for such a kind of place. If you claim to serve breakfast, then please do so.
Great place, but the owners wife was very rude all day despite us spending a lot of cash in the establishment. Ignore her and you will have an amazing time in an amazing place. The rest of the staff confirmed she is pissed every day - one of those people that should not be working with customers.

We had stopped off to the beach on the way back from Pisa. This restaurant/ Bar is situated on a lovely beach. We ended up staying to watch the sun set and grabbed a beer and snacks from the bar and was served by a young lady who was very welcoming and kind.

We just had a very good lunch. A salted cod as starter, grilled sea bass for my husband and grilled calamari for myself. I had a yogurt mousse with a chocolate and decaf espresso as dessert. Lovely lunch! P.S. A lovely beach is in the front of the restaurant.

The pizza restaurant Bar Centro Pomodoro e Basilico di FL. EV. & C. Snc is known for its exceptional service and attentive staff. Customers have raved about their delicious pizzas, which they describe as some of the best they've ever had. The "Frittura di paranza" dish is also highly recommended and has received rave reviews for its amazing taste and soft texture.
Very good restaurant! We were here with 28 persons and the service for this large group was excellent! The food is delicious with a wide variety of pizza, pasta and seafood. We were seated outside right on a quiet street. The owner does not speak English, but is very nice and it works via Google Translator.

If you come in for lunch you probably can find an open table, for dinner you should consider booking. We had lunch 2 adults and 2 kids, no children's menu but the chef was nice enough and made a smaller portion for our youngest. Very friendly staff and if you speak some Italian as a tourist I think they appreciate that a little bit extra. There was no problem speaking English.

Simple place to eat cold food. The only dish they had that could be heated up in the microwave was paella which was not fresh at all and some of the rice grains were quite hard. Wouldn't go back again and would not recommend either!

We really loved this little bistro in the center of Vada next to the Piazza Garibaldi. A lot of attention to wine and food which looked great and tasted even better. The staff was very friendly and explained everything they had on their menu.

Elia, the bartender, is extremely experienced and prepared even when challenged, very professional and passionate.

This is a lovely establishment with good food, good wine, fine beers and a great staff. We came back after 3 years because we were "in the neighbourhood" (drove 2 hours) to experienced that great night we had again. And we did. The food is to share, local products and traditional dishes with a twist. Something for everybody. It's a 5 star restaurant all the way. Keep it up guys & good luck.
This is a really fabulous and magical place. The food and the stuff are wonderful. Some of them speak really good English and it was no problem for them to translate and explain the Italien only menu to us.
They have a really big choice of wine and they will help you to find the right wine for the evening if you want.
We went there twice. On the first night we took the fish plate and some additional fish dishes. Everything was well prepared, really tasty and perfectly cooked. The second night we took the local salami and cheese plate which was really great and tasty again.
By the way they have the great Czech beer Kozel (light and dark) on tap.
This spot in Vada is already by far a good reason to stop in this small Tuscanian village. The food, the atmosphere and

The service was very personable our Italian is no good at all but they treated us so well and we made it work. The chef came out and showed us the specials of the day a local fish and lobster. We went ahead with a beautiful seafood platter and the octopus as starter - absolutely stunning!
For the main we had the local fish with grilled vegetables again so fresh so beautiful and simply cooked that it was everything.
Finally although we are not a dessert couple and haven't had dessert over 6 days we had to try their tiramisu and it did not disappoint the biscuit was delicious overall all the flavours. We absolutely loved our experience and wish we can go back soon sometime in the future. We definitely highly recommend Ill Pesce Nero.

It really shouldn’t matter if guests want to order something they like … the bill was well over 200 euro. Regardless, we had a great time and I would go back.

The mixed fried dish uncooked and when I told to main waiter, he asked for a moment and brought me back the leftover more fried and told me: " Now you eat it!" Obviously I was disguested. Insted of right wine, we got prosecco. I feel to vommit. We had to ask for correction of wine (Fruili) was the only great thing and it was not even from the region. Many of the quests arrived later, got their food earlier, than us. We paid a fortune, for leaving with empty and rumbling stomach. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have know idea,how can a restaurant spoil a nice location like this.

On the much longer list of cons: we had a reservation, arrived early and despite all but one table being open, we got the worst table of the restaurant next to the storage room with the beach personnel still cleaning up the equipment from the adjacent beach right next to us. Service mostly ignored us but was fawning over the other (Italian) guests which was easy to see from our spot in the back. They were visibly confused when they came over and we weren’t raving about their food. Food was mediocre. Totally understand if they are fed up with tourists after having seen the rest of the village but want to warn foreigners not to go as this is not a place where you will feel welcome and respected. [for Italians I would imagine it is also not worth it: the food is simply not that good.]

During my vacation in Italy, I visited Ghostbuster ristorante pizzeria a few times. The staff was extremely attentive and spoke impeccable English, which was a definite advantage. Instead of filling up on starters, I opted for their delectable pizzas right away. Italian pizzas are truly unparalleled; they are thin, crispy, and bursting with flavor. Surprisingly, the large size is more than sufficient – don't underestimate it!

I got the Frutti di Mare (seafood pizza) for 10 euros. It was super delicious and the ingredients tasted so fresh! The pizza was filling and had the perfect amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings. While in Italy on holiday we went to this restaurant on a couple of occasions. On both times the staff were very attentive and spoke excellent English which is always a bonus. We went straight for the pizzas as the starters fill you up and then you can't fully enjoy your main meal. Which I have to say Italian pizzas are just the best. Really thin and crispy and full of flavour. The large pizza is enough believe me, you don't think so but they are! The sell Morretti beer bottled only at 3 euros which is good value. The atmosphere is great as you can sit outside if you wish so plenty of choice. It gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights so you might have a wait as they don't push you to leave which I think is a nice touch. All in all a great place to eat and enjoy a pleasant evening.
The best pizza (incredible thin and crispy crust) and pasta we had this holiday so far! As a plus, waitress is also very polite and speaks English.

Which is the most absurd thing I've ever seen. Potato was soggy and oily. I have never in my life tasted wine that is ugly. But this one stank as if it was old, and it tasted funny. As s staff working in the restaurant that's in the center of the city, speaking basic English is a must for you. We were communicating through google translate. That's all I can say. Also, prices are incredibly high for this poor quality.

Wonderful restaurant for seafood, gorgeous view and overall atmosphere. We enjoyed the daily specials that were not on the menu - ricotta ravioli with orange flavored pasta and a seafood sauce, spaghetti with clams and bottarga, and a very local specialty of ragu stuffed mussels. The regular menu items looked wonderful too, but the specials were so enticing and unique that we chose those. Classic local Livorno style food, and very friendly and professional staff. Wonderful location on the seaside pathway, a short walk to the perfect rocky beach for watching the sunset and also to the main seaside pine forest park and train station of the town.

The place was nice and recommended highly. It is for sure a higher level of place fancier and with that it is more expensive but as a whole not too bad. The primi and antipasti were between 12-16 each and the fritto misto was around 20.
The place is right next to the train station which was actually kinda cool. There will free parking on the other side of the train station but not too many places to park.
The servers were friendly and explained everything else.
They do not have a wine list it’s an enoteca so you have ti go inside and find wine if you want it. We got glasses but they only had a few options for by the glass and then house wine.
The fritto misto here was probably the best I have had in Italy I recommend highly. Also the gnocchi with calamari and pistacchio was amazing. I would highly recommend that.

Brilliant restaurant right next to the station (but don't let that put you off!). It has a sweet secluded sheltered 'garden' with seating that makes it all feel very special. The food was really good - we had swordfish, mussels and pasta but all the menu looked good. Staff friendly. It was busy in contrast to the other restaurants in town we went to or have seen even though it's not quite the summer season and that says something. Go here - it's lovely.

We came to Castiglioncello for a day trip, and wanted to have some nice seafood before we headed back. Everything was honestly great. The waiter was very kind and even opened 15 minutes before their official opening time because he saw us waiting (we wanted an early dinner to be able to catch our train). Meal service was speedy, food tasted nice and was for a decent price. We paid 70 euros for 2 people; had one seafood antipasto, 2 seafood pastas for main course, and a bottle of white wine. Great location and nice atmosphere. We were initially hesitant to go because of the 3.8 rating on google, but we honestly loved it very much and would definitely return :D

The food is overpriced for what it is and the service is questionable. One of the servers insisted on parting the grilled fish for us and just completely butchered it. What started out looking like a regular grilled fish ended up looking like dog food on two tiny plates with 0 presentation... For 40€... He didn't even leave all of the sides with us, they didn't fit on the tiny plates so he took them back to the kitchen??? Now I have to say this might have been an isolated incident with an awful server, but even so this is in Italy where you can eat amazing food for better prices at pretty much every street corner. So unless you come for the view don't come at all.

We came here yesterday with our son (6 years), who suffers from celiac disease, specifically to eat glutenfree dinner, because we read in the reviews and on the website of the restaurant, that they care for celiac people and are affiliated with the AIC (Italian association of celiac disease). It was a big disappointment:
I called and told them in advance that we have a celiac son, yet they didn't serve a glutenfree schacciattina as a welcome starter.
They don't have glutenfree pasta, so our son chose the trancio di tonno with pistachio. After a quick chat in the kitchen the waitress came back and told us, that they are not sure about the pistachio sauce that they put on top of the fish ... So we told them to leave it.
The plate he received was really not nicely done: just a plane piece of tuna, without any spices or anything on the side. And another waiter quickly brought some bread to accompany the fish, but when we asked if it's glutenfree bread he just said "No, it's with gluten." and took back the bread without alternative ... Our son is such a decent person, so he didn't complain or anything and he said he liked the fish. It was just sad for us parents to see him treated like that.
I had ordered a gluten free pizza to back my son up in case he didn't like the fish.
My glutenfree pizza came about 15min after the rest of the dishes, when the whole family was already done eating. And it was tiny. And I had to share with my son because he also didn't have enough from just this piece of fish. So at least my son was happy in the end, but for me it was a big disappointment.
They also forgot to bring the two glasses of red wine that we ordered in the beginning and when we decided to eat the dessert somewhere else and asked for the bill, the two glasses of red wine were on the bill!
I'm sorry, maybe that was not their best night yesterday, but we certainly cannot recommend this restaurant for families with children that suffer from celiac disease.

Way too slow in every aspect, place was empty when we came, still waited for a table, the menue, drinks and food. All took too long, even getting the bill was a pain. A quick stop with drinks and pizza was planned, took us two hours to get out of it again. Fortunately the food was good and the garden is really nice. Our experience at the restaurant was a Desaster! The waiters were polite, but only one waitress spoke English. Even though there were not that many guests we waited 45 min for our drinks and over 1,5 hours for our food. On top of that they forgot one of the 4 dishes we ordered and said it'll take them another 30 min, if we didn't order something else. The birthday, who wanted to go there for a pizza, had to eat pasta he didn't want and like, not to starve. He got his food around midnight after we ordered around 9:30pm!! We were all starved and it was a horrible evening for us on my cousin's birthday :(( in the end they didn't offer us a refund and even wanted to charge us for the pasta, we did not order in the frost place! I cannot recommend this place at all! Stay away!!!
The staff was friendly and the food was good. The coffee was better than the food in my opinion. It is a great place to go if you have kids that are of the age where playing on a playground is still fun. The location is really what makes the place if you aren't actually there for tennis.

Both were cooked with the seafood broth and were amazing! The server was also very professional and gave great recommendations. This was the best fish/seafood restaurant of our 10 day trip along the Tuscan coast! We wish were in town longer to go again.

Casale Del Mare is a charming retreat in Castiglioncello, Rosignano Marittimo, Livorno, Italy. Nestled just 1 kilometre from the beach, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the stunning coastal areas. This converted old farm offers elegantly furnished apartments with rustic features like vaulted ceilings and exposed bricks. The on-site restaurant presents delectable local cuisine in a picturesque setting and caters to various events.
We spent three lovely days here and greatly enjoyed the pool and views. The walk down to Castiglioncello took us about 35 minutes, mostly down hill.
Laura was a great help in booking our taxis from and to the Station, and also for the trip back up after a lovely meal at La Conchiglia, Di Thommaso.

The structure itself is lovely, with a beautiful pool in an idillic setting. The room was furnished badly, showing a desire to be shabby chic but frankly it was just second hand shabby which, considering the price, is unacceptable. Worse, the service: a rude owner who doesn't appreciate that the client is central to her business. The breakfast - for which they originally asked 40 euros - on the first day was poor, no fresh fruit, no fresh bread. After complaining the second morning was better, or perhaps that was because they had more guests and felt like they had to make more effort. Overall a bad overpriced experience. The restaurant next door was however lovely.
A good hotel, with a lot of potential. This is a winery, first, and then a hotel; this means, they have a lot of opportunity to introduce the wines they make to their clientele for free, or at a good discount.
We were invited to this hotel by our friends and they had high remarks for it. The room was good, however, felt gimmicky with certain extra doors and modalities. Almost felt like we were in a room built by IKEA. AC was great, room was great, mattress could be improved, and sadly bedsheet had a stain of blood, which meant we didn’t get it replaced.
Anything else, in regards to service was chargeable. Coffee pods at €1 each. To replace your sheet or towels costs €20 per request (outside of their weekly change). Room cleaning (if not suite) is charged at €30 upon request. Breakfast is €12 per person (reasonable) but only has a simple menu.
Now, all of this could be greatly improved if the room is charged slightly higher, and all the charges removed. Wines discounted for purchase for introductions, then you create a client base who may keep coming back.
The location was good, however, odd when the turn from the highway turns into a gravel road and we need to keep driving. As a first timer, this was freaky.
Laura was a great host and upfront about everything mentioned above. However, this could be improved with different pricing and clarifying things either on the website.
Would come back, however, with different expectations.

Very good experience. Exceptional location. The Cerro room was good but the place where the children slept less comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom were very basic. Nevertheless there was a good airconditioning and the terrace had an amazing view on the sunset in the sea, which made our stay very nice.
The large swimming pool was great and the horses next to it, olive trees and vineyards, the view on the sea offered a calmness and the beauty of nature. The restaurant benefited from the nice views but the food was quite expensive compared to the quality and taste. The staff and Laura were very helpful. Thanks for the nice stay.
Casale Del Mare, is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The pool is fantastic and the scenery is incredible. The wine is great and goes well with the local food. Everyone was incredibly helpful during my first stay, and I have since visited 3 other times. Would highly recommend!

Please avoid this place at all costs. My friends and I visited this place twice. We spent hundreds here. We asked whether we could rent some beach umbrellas and chairs. Plenty were empty, but apparently they’d all been booked out already as people rent them in advance for the whole summer (though why they let people do this is beyond me). We briefly sat in one of these empty spaces as we were desperate for shade. When a staff member approached us, we apologised and started to leave while he became violent and screamed. He threw our belongings and physically shoved my friend. It’s worth noting that our group also featured the only non-white and Black people there. The food is also mid at best - very bland, doesn’t taste fresh, and the waiters will make you feel like a nuisance.
