Women's Cooperative of Petra

Mentioned on

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
The Women's Cooperative of Petra is a charming restaurant overlooking the bay, established in 1983 to empower local women. The cozy balcony offers a perfect setting for sunset views while savoring hearty island cuisine like beef stew, fresh fish, and lamb in wine sauce. The homely atmosphere with comfortable seating and an abundance of flowers adds to the dining experience. Although it may be challenging to locate, the authentic and delicious traditional meals prepared by caring local women make it worth the effort.
The place was incredibly crowded—even in the off-season, having a reservation seemed almost necessary. Luckily, we managed to find a spot. The fast service and warm, family-like atmosphere were very nice. The complimentary dessert and wine were also delicious. I think we may have made a poor choice from the menu, so in terms of taste and how satisfying the meal was, it fell a bit short for us. The shrimp had a strong anise flavor, which we didn’t really enjoy. The other dishes were generally tasty, but as I mentioned, our specific order wasn’t the best. Since we didn’t like the flavor in the shrimp and the overall selection was a bit weak, we left not feeling very full. Still, overall, we left satisfied—mainly thanks to the service and the atmosphere. 🫶🏽

By eating at this restaurant, you can not only enjoy the traditional food of the island, but you can also help the association of women who, through their work, can secure the necessary income and be more independent. The place is very crowded and offers an excellent sunset.
Marian N — Google review
Perfect place in Petra. I come here several times a year during my vacation in Anaxos (village nearby) I read about it before and saw the recommendations here. I find the table for me only easy at 17-18.00 even if the table was reserved I just want to eat and go, so they allow me to seat. Recommend you to order octopus in wine souse. Was fantastic, but a less salty could be better. But anyway I found this dish very 😋 tasty. Greek salad is the best I eat in Greece. Fresh good quality of tomatoes, big portions, my stomach was super satisfied.😊 PS! And the tables with amazing view make this place special and give you magical feelings.
Gulya A — Google review
We found it through Google recommendations and comments. It is difficult to find a place without a reservation. The view is perfect especially at sunset. However, as someone who has eaten at many famous taverns on the Greek islands and the mainland, I did not like the food. The Greek salad was very mixed (pickles, peppers, capers etc.) The main ingredients were tomatoes and cucumbers, soft and tasteless. The cheese on top was a soft, tasteless feta. The grilled jumbo shrimp was delicious. The grilled octopus was one of the worst I have ever eaten. The stuffed zucchini flower was delicious but served hot like the main course. I prefer the cold appetizer style with olive oil. There were also grilled meat products, I did not try them. As you can see in the photo, it has a small kitchen. The fish and calamari do not taste good unless they are grilled on coal. I cannot say it is bad, but it did not meet my expectations. There were many Europeans over the age of 60. It may suit their taste.
Emre N — Google review
The view up top is stunning. The stairs aren't easy to find in the back street by the shops but it's worth the search!! Service was wonderful, food was delicious. We got the mix starter and it was perfect and a ton of food for the price!
Renee F — Google review
Their stuffed courgette flower filling is unique. It is filled with cheese and fried. I like "dolma" version but this one is also very good. Very local atmosphere, local cuisine. Strongly suggested if you stop by Petra.
Özkan Ç — Google review
The service and the place is nice, some of the food we ate like the shrimps and stuffed zucchini flowers were very good, however some dishes haven't met our expectations, especially after having went to seafood restaurants all over Greece. The greek salad was not that great, and the octopus was dry. The alcohol is good quality. It's not the best restaurant ever like some people are saying.
Phant — Google review
A very good greek traditional restaurant, all the dishes were very tasty and were prepared with respect to the greek culinary tradition, absolutely recommended !

Cafe
Tropicana Platanos, established in 1985 on Andrea Kyriakou square, is a popular spot offering fresh juices, homemade ice cream, and delightful local dishes known as "mezedes." The village location boasts a diverse menu and provides a great alternative atmosphere for breakfast and lunch. Visitors rave about the amazing food and the incredibly friendly staff, particularly highlighting Taxia's exceptional service.
Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service. The waiter was a very kind young man that helped us a lot with his recommendations. Everything was exceptionally delicious. The local wine was also very nice. We had a wonderful time. Thanks a lot!
Aylin A — Google review
We had a really lovely meal here today! The food was amazing and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was made with my allergies in mind and I was informed about all of the ingredients when I ordered. The prices were great and we were given a nice watermelon treat at the end. Bonus that any leftovers get fed to the local cats!! 😊🐱
April P — Google review
The food and service is great. Awesome family run place. You can tell they love having you there and that you enjoy the local food. Love from colombia
Luis P — Google review
Meat was tasty and the service was relatively good. The atmosphere there is great. A great choice if you want to enjoy good quality dinner at low prices in a relaxed atmosphere.
John G — Google review
The food is absolutely fantastic! So many choices and plenty for a vegetarian, which otherwise is a little limited in other places. I particularly enjoyed the garlic aubergine and the spring rolls from the meze menu. Next time I visit Molyvos I'll be trying many more dishes. Taxia and the team are attentive and make you feel welcome and valued.
Helena J — Google review
went to this restaurant alone, and they tried to seat me at a table in the far corner under the sun, while keeping the nicer shaded tables “reserved.” When I refused and decided to leave, they suddenly offered me one of those so-called reserved tables. To me, this felt quite unfair and disrespectful. Business owners should reconsider this attitude towards solo diners if they want to maintain a positive image of the island.
ASLI A — Google review
The best Greek restaurant I've ever been. Delicious meals and friendly service. Quiet and peaceful place.

Literally the best food in Town, every dish is a wonderful surprise. Taxia is such a welcoming and funny person and her team is more than nice. The terrasse is charming and you feel like home. We more than recommend!

Restaurant
THALASSA / The sea RESTAURANT, previously located in the small village of Petri and now situated in Petra by the sea, is run by the Dissou family. Maria and Nikos ensure a delightful dining experience with their delicious food and stunning sea views. Visitors praise the friendly service and recommend trying various dishes, all of which are described as absolutely delicious.
I can say it was the best calamari I've ever eaten. I was looking for something like this because I don't like calamari. I found it in this place. It's spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, right on the beach. It's a nice restaurant. Since I arrived a little early, reservations weren't a problem. The staff were very friendly. I'll definitely go again. Thanks 🙏🥰🇬🇷
Nesrin D — Google review
Cozy little restaurant with a menu filled with diverse options and local cuisine. I enjoyed the cold dishes, mezzes and warm starters a lot more than the main fish dishes. Prices are a bit higher than the other local restaurants but the atmosphere and food is worth it. The staff is friendly and welcoming.
Gizem U — Google review
What a beautiful little restaurant! Outstanding service! Amazing food! Great experience! We will definitely be back when we're in the area! Eating dinner right by the sea-side can't be beat! My most favorite food on the entire menu was the Lahannondolmades!! Definitely recommend!
Joe M — Google review
Our favorite tavern in Petra. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and amazing hosts. In the evenings, it's definitely worth making a reservation. Moussaka, grilled calamari, octopus – everything is fresh, delicious and worth trying.
Piotr K — Google review
Thank you for the wonderful evening celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious lobster. A fantastic restaurant with owners who are very committed to their customers. Highly recommended!
Marjan B — Google review
It's delicious and has fast service. The staff is very sweet. The mixed appetizer plate and tatziki are delicious. The calamari and shrimp were the best I've had in Greece so far. I highly recommend it.
Büşra S — Google review
The family who runs this place is wonderful. The food is delicious, and if you're wondering what to eat, they're happy to advise you. I could write as many reviews as I've been there, but I can only write one. But believe me, you absolutely must visit this place.
Sylwia D — Google review
I came here with my family. My husband and I ate seafood. Especially stuffed calamari was marvelous and also I loved grilled octopus. My daughter ate beef burger. There was no bread, only meat and potatoes. The meat was so good. No need to mention the atmosphere as it was heaven🥰

Restaurant
Meltemi Ristorante Pizzeria offers a fusion of local Italian and Greek cuisines, serving a variety of Mediterranean dishes along with fresh seasonal vegetables and flavorful herb-based sauces. Situated on the restaurant's balcony, diners can enjoy both their meals and the breathtaking sea view. Located in Mithymna, Greece, Meltemi is renowned for its delicious Italian food and traditional Greek dishes.
We contacted them via Instagram a few days ago to make a reservation, so we had the best table. We tried mushroom pizza and seafood spaghetti. We loved both. It's not exactly Neapolitan pizza, but I'm sure you'll love it. Greek coffees are a bit ordinary compared to Turkish coffees 😎 If we come to Molyvos again, we'll definitely come back. Thank you for everything.
Çağdaş E — Google review
Great view. Nice locations. Clean place. However pizza was undercooked, pasta was overcooked. Not recommended for food. Little Edit: Just to remind the owner that I was there as a customer, not as business consultant. I should not be teaching you how to cook and run the business and yet still pay a bill. Please check your food properly before you serve.
G*R*L — Google review
If you want to try something different from Greek cuisine, this is the best address for you with its magnificent sea view, delicious food and great service. It might be a good idea to make a reservation in advance, especially in the evening when the sun is setting.

Ahmet K — Google review
Sophia was very helpful, and the team was also great. We preferred pizza, risotto, and salad. They didn’t turn us away even though we didn’t have a reservation. Thank you so much💕
Ayşe G — Google review
We went for a pizza at Meltemi Ristorante Pizzeria. We ordered a green salad and two pizzas — one pepperoni and one Greek. The service was efficient, the surroundings were pleasant, and the toilets were clean. However, we were very disappointed with the pizzas. The toppings were bland and tasteless, and most surprisingly, the dough was dry, impossible to cut, and tasted like cardboard. It was honestly the worst pizza we’ve ever had. The chef should consider taking a trip to Naples to learn how to make a proper pizza. We raised our concerns when paying the bill, but unfortunately, the chef’s son responded aggressively. The purpose of making pizza should be to satisfy your customers — not just yourself. If you fail to do that, success is unlikely. Because of this experience, we probably won’t return. If you're looking for a good pizza, it may be best to look elsewhere.
Ludovic M — Google review
Great Scenery, Decent Pizza Drawn by the glowing 5-star reviews and buzz about the pizza, we visited this restaurant and were blown away by the scenery—especially from the end tables, which alone make the trip worthwhile! The pizza, however, was a bit underwhelming, with too much crust for my taste. Still, it was decent overall, and I’d give it a solid 3/5. Worth a visit for the view
Mathias L — Google review
Meltemi has a beautiful view over the Aegean. It has a lovely family friendly environment and is always accompanied by great traditional Greek music. My partner and I enjoyed the pasta dishes and kind service of the staff!

The Captain's Table

Tapas restaurant
Small plates restaurant
The Captain's Table, located in the harbor of Molyvos on Lesbos island, is a renowned restaurant owned by Melinda and her husband Theo. The Australian-born Melinda, along with her team, provides excellent service and prepares delicious food for the guests. The restaurant offers a beautiful atmosphere with cool breezes from its portside location. Guests highly recommend the fried calamari and La Mer pasta dishes, as well as the grilled kalamari and sardines.
Found us a table even though we didn't have a reservation after only arriving in Molyvos this afternoon. The service was excellent, both knowledgeable and friendly. We had nine meze dishes for the 3 of us which was just right, 500ml of house white, an ice tea and large bottle of water all for €55. The setting by the harbour with the sun going down was beautiful and the food matched it. The roast potatoes, local saganaki, grilled sardines and meat balls where particularly good.
P S — Google review
The food was so good we couldn’t wait to take a proper pics I came here like 5 times already with different groups of friends from all over the planet, “That was one of the best I have ever had” I have heard this so many times It was a great experience and the view and the friendly welcoming service so good Definitely one of my favorite places.
Yuri D — Google review
The only Greek Meze style (small plates to share) restaurant in Molyvos. Right on the harbor, romantic lighting, fast and friendly service. The grilled king prawns are absolutely out of this world.
Petra D — Google review
Delicious food, excellent service, and a beautiful place. Every dish is truly amazing! The bougatsa with ice cream for dessert is highly recommended. For us, it’s the best restaurant in Molyvos!
Rogier D — Google review
This is the most charming and beautiful restaurant we’ve visited in Lesvos! Over the years, we’ve been to many Greek restaurants across Greece and Turkey, and this place served some of the best mezze and seafood we’ve ever had. The calamari was especially amazing. The portion sizes for the mezze were quite generous, and the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. It’s a lovely family-owned business, and you feel that warmth as soon as you walk in. Definitely a must-visit if you’re on the island. Highly recommended!
Defne K — Google review
We had shrimp and calamari right by the sea, with a beautiful view. Everything was fresh and full of flavor, and the wine paired perfectly with the food. The service was super friendly and made us feel at home. Such a perfect evening we will definitely come back!
Barkın O — Google review
A truly special meze restaurant, run with passion by young people who love what they do. Here you’ll taste some of the best meze on the island: homemade meatballs that feel like they came from your mother’s kitchen, authentic flavors in every dish, and a sweet ending with their galaktoboureko made with a unique pastry that brings back the taste of Greece. The location is lovely, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, always filled with smiles. Here you’ll meet Kimonas and Afroditi siblings who pour their heart into their food. And you can feel it: every plate is made with love, just like them. Because in the end, it’s the people who make a table worth sitting at. And this is one table you truly shouldn’t miss! Best wishes, I'll see you next year. 🌼🌼

With its lovely setting and mouthwatering food options, Kalderimi is definitely worth considering for a delightful meal.
Best gyros ever. We tried pork and chicken, both were great. Also hot fresh pita bread makes the experience more interesting. It makes you want to come back again only for this gyros from Turkey. Thank you. I highly recommend.
Ozan Ş — Google review
Absolutely delicious food and wine. The chargrilled chicken was so tasty, perfect with a Greek salad and tzatziki. Also came with fries and warm herby pitta bread. €41 euros including a beer and half litre of house wine. Highly recommend, the menu is extensive including traditional Greek dishes. The setting is simply beautiful, in the shadow of the famous church in Petra - a gem of a place will definitely come back

Another superb restaurant. Lovely setting on the cobbled streets in amongst trees. I had a delightful fillet mignon and my partner had the lovely mousakka. A wonderful place. Had the amazing Pork souvlaki 2 nights ago.

The gyros was delicious, but what truly stole the show was the sauce! Perfect texture, amazing flavor, and just the right balance – it complemented the meat without overpowering it. Fast service and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had in Greece! We had delicious seafood – calamari, shrimp, and of course, a fresh Greek salad. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. But what truly made this place special were Martin and his wife 🥰🥰 They were the sweetest and most genuinely friendly people we’ve ever met. Their warm hospitality, constant smiles, and lovely conversation made us feel like part of the family. It wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience. The view is absolutely breathtaking, right by the sea — the perfect spot to enjoy great food and relax. We would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Don’t miss it! 🙌🏼

Martin’s restaurant was amazing. He and his family served incredible food. Although we couldn’t make it on time for our reservation, he did everything he could to find us a table. I recommend coming on time, around 8 p.m., and asking for table 1 or 2. No need to look for another place—just come and enjoy the delicious Greek food and beautiful scenery. Ya mas !!

This restaurant is an absolute gem in the stunning village of Molovos. Really lovely food and staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We managed to get a table on a very small balcony on the 3rd floor and the views were spectacular! We sat eating fabulous food watching the sun set over the Agean Sea. The restaurant also had inside seating and small tables on the pathway outside of the restaurant which did also offer stunning views. Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced.

The menu features classic Mediterranean dishes with a creative twist; patrons rave about the chicken fillet and prawns in creamy ouzo sauce.
They were extremely friendly. I liked the owner and all the waiters. Octopus souvlaki was the best dish I ate in this island tbh. Atmosphere is also very good exactly next to the beach. Very modern and the menu is a lot better then the other options in this area.

Had a dinner with my wife. Despite it was the top of the night they took care of us without reservation. Everyone working here SMILE and approach with positive attitude unlike all other restaurants in this village. Everything was extremely fresh and tasty. I hope we discovered this restaurant sooner. Compliments to the owners and the managers.

I spent in Skala Kallonis one week and almost every day I had a lunch in Caprice. Everything was very tasty, people working here are very friendly and helpful. I had a chance to chat with manager, Ioannis, too, he is very customer friendly man. Big THANK YOU to very nice waiter (unfortunately I do not know his name) who served us all times, he is very polite, kind, smiled and helpful person. I've tried food in others restaurants but here food was THE BEST!!!!

This is, by far, the best restaurant in town, and possibly on the island. The food is outstanding, their menu is nicely varied. Drinks are very good. The service is very friendly and prompt. The views and atmosphere are absolutely perfect. In a 2-week holiday we ate here 5 times and never had a negative aspect to our meals.

We had wonderful dinner here. Everything was really delicious. Everyone is so kind and the kind lady that took our orders recommended us their bbq chicken pizza, rib eye steak, sesame chicken and all of them were really delicious. Portions are big and quite filling. Their blue cheese salad is also really tasty and you can get the cheese separately. They bring breads hot and butter was also brought. We had a great time there thanks for everything

For us the best kitchen and service in Skala Kalloni (but not on the island however). We were there twice and never left dissappointed. Very good Moussaka, other traditional dishes (do not remember names, sorry), very good salads and wines. Lack of octopus however. All dishes tasty and perfectly served. Our score 5/5.

Me and my family just spent 2 weeks in Lesvos and Caprice was our favourite restaurant which we went to most nights. The food was amazing. Staff were so friendly and always welcoming. We were a family of 11 and they always managed to seat us. The young boy was always so smiley and lovely and the older man with glasses was so attentive as well as the woman with dark hair who I believe might’ve been the owner ( sorry do not know their names ) Would recommend Caprice to anyone. So much choice for food, day time and evening food are both great. It’s right on the beach and views are beautiful.

Delicious dishes and very near to the sea view. But, place is a little expensive compared to the other places in Petra. I think there are more preferable restaurants.
Serdar C — Google review
We came here today with high expectations, after seeing such lovely reviews. Sadly this was a very different experience for us. We weren’t greeted even we came in, we didnt’t get the menu. The terrace was not full. We were waiting a really long time for the waiter to get our order, the 2 couples next also had to wait. After a wijle the waiter came for those couples and grumpy took their order. After another ten minutes we tried to catch his attention but he straight up ignored our atempts. After waiting around 20 minutes in total we left. We were baffled after this experience, so we wanted to share our story.

The Octopus Restaurant is a traditional stone taverna located at the north end of Molyvos harbour. It's known for its focus on octopus, caught daily by one of the waiters' brothers and grilled fresh. The ambiance is lovely, especially at sunset, offering beautiful views including the castle. The staff are friendly and helpful in recommending dishes.
An absolutely fantastic restaurant right by the port in Molyvos. The location is unbeatable, with beautiful views and that authentic seaside charm. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious, clearly made with love and local ingredients. We especially loved the sight of octopus hanging to dry — such a unique and traditional touch! It’s a family-run place with super friendly staff who made us feel right at home. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

Top! Super! Super good food quality. Good service. Very nice location on Molivos harbor. We were here several times in 2023 and 2024. In 2026 we go again. I love the fish dishes. And the octopus special is super tasty. All the food is the best quality.

We had octopus, shrimp, salted mackerel, and tzatziki — everything was fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. A lovely place to enjoy a good meal. Definitely recommended!
Meryem T — Google review
The atmosphere is nice, you're right on the harbor, and the place is always crowded, but we didn't get the amazing flavors we expected; it felt a bit overrated. We didn't like the octopus in wine sauce, the grilled sea bream was tasteless, the calamari was average, and the stuffed vine leaves and salted bonito were good.

clearly overrated place. water and bread are brought without ordering, then it turns out that you have to pay for it. the price of bread is indicated only on the last page of the menu and in greek. when you order a grilled octopus the waiter asks if you know how to eat it and even after receiving a positive answer, still shows. then you understand why - the octopus is gummy. the portions are small, the prices are high for such food and service. as a result, if you sit on the edge, a boat will pull up and poor people will be dropped on your heads. Don’t recommend

Overall, it was okay. The octopus was very good, though I found it a bit too salty and unusually intense — I personally prefer a more delicate seafood flavor, but perhaps it just wasn’t the right dish for me. The Neapolitan spaghetti was disappointing; the pasta was overcooked and there wasn’t enough sauce for the portion size. I expected a bit more. That said, the service was excellent and the views were absolutely stunning.

Another nice dinner at the Octopus Retaurant. Janos and Stelio were very welcoming and polite- thank you guys🙏 We were to choose the fish from the selections they presented as variety and sizes in plates. Everything was amazing but the price was more expensive I guess for the chosen Red Snapper fish (1kg) for share. Tastes - really good 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 _----------- Excellent service***** Very delicious seafood *****1 Very friendly staff and management 👍👍👍👍👍

We have been to Alexandroupoli, Athens, Kavala and lesvos. Among many restaurants we had dinner mainly for seafood, octopus is the best place for sure. Grilled octopus was again perfect, fried squid was delicious, mussels, prawn, salad all were very tasty. Good service, very kind and polite manager. Cosy atmosphere with a very nice view. You eat your dinner by a small fishing harbor in molyvos. Molivos castle has a very nice view of ligthed in the evenings.

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport’s domestic terminal is modern, clean, and easy to navigate. It’s not too big, so getting through security and to your gate is usually quick and hassle-free. Didn’t have to wait too long for my luggage either when I got here via my domestic flight. There are a decent number of cafés and shops, though food options can be a bit limited compared to larger airports. Seating is comfortable, and there are charging points available, making it a good place to wait for your flight. Overall, it’s a well-organized airport with a smooth travel experience, especially for domestic flights.

Big and modern. two problems: 1. the passport control section has become slow with long lines 2. the parking is confusing and not spacious enough

It is a quiet and clean airport, with very relaxed vibes here. Not crowded when we were there. We flew in from Istanbul to catch a train to Selcuk. TCDD train station is just across the road from the exit and you need to cross the bridge to get there. There are a few options for car rental at the airport as well. Luggage collection for domestic flights on the ground floor, took a while for the luggage to be ready at the carousel.

They actually charge you for a trolley to push your bags, after travelling for hours. Clearly no tourist will have their currency. The bathrooms are also an absolute disgrace. This place definitely does not have growth in mind. Also, absolutely no seating area while you wait for your international bags to arrive. Try to avoid if possible.

This is the domestic airport. Not crowded and they have clean and fragrant restroom. Some employees of the coffee shop and kiosk can't speak english but we use google translate to communicate😊

Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) in Izmir offers a truly modern and efficient travel experience. The architecture is bright, spacious, and very welcoming, making it feel far less stressful than many larger international hubs. Passing through the domestic terminal, in particular, is a breeze; the check-in and security processes are quick and handled by courteous, professional staff. The facilities are maintained at an exceptional standard of cleanliness. I was also impressed by the seamless transportation options, specifically the direct İZBAN rail link, which makes connecting to Izmir's city center incredibly easy and convenient. From its thoughtful design to its overall efficiency, ADB is a top-tier airport that significantly enhances the travel experience in the Aegean region.

This airport primarily serves the city of Izmir and surrounding areas, operating at a relatively modest scale. The three-star rating reflects its operational efficiency, particularly when compared to airports that have received a four-star designation. Its July 1, today and airport still did not remove Christmas tree decorations:)
