Beautiful!!! One of the nicer cathedrals I’ve seen.
Beautiful and peacefully place
The cathedral is absolutely gorgeous. It's pleasant enough outside with its facade & tower ... ... but inside it is stunningly beautiful. Each chapel is tastefully decorated in a different style.
We walked around the corner from Hotel Duomo to the Cathedral of Santa Maria - this was fabulous, built in the twelfth century and then remodelled in the eighteenth. Not the usual gaudy Catholic display but muted colours, very limited gilding and a really nice atmosphere with some beautiful artworks. I couldn't see how to access the bell tower though which was a shame.
After visiting hundreds of churches and temples and cathedrals and ruins, I get a bit cynical, but this one really touched me. You could really feel the love of God that went into its craftsmanship, and it's gorgeous.
Beautiful cathedral. This is beauty art as well a place to rest. Definitely a must see.
Didn't eat, BUT! The only place open and in the sun, next to the cathedral. We wanted some antipasti before dinner a bit later. They didn't serve antipasti, but the kind waiter said they served complimentary snack with drinks. It was a big serving and the wine was good, the price good too. Thanx! :) And the baobab seeds sold by the nice Senegali man, hope they grow. 🫶
Quiet and impressive, beautiful marble work throughout

It's a good museum with many objects from Tharros. Dogs are welcome and there is a tactile museum, which was great.
Come all the way from Cagliari with the train, you check the site, you check on googlemaps, and then you have to come here to read this sign. 3de world country.

It is worth for its nuraghic statues/idols, civilization I don't know at all. It was fine, but too few english descriptions, and even descriptions in italian have not been helpful in understanding what i'm looking at. And overprized.

(Translated by Google) The museum is tidy, the staff is friendly, the exhibits are beautiful. Tickets can be purchased on the spot, there are no long lines. Parking is easy. The guided tour is worth every penny, because the lady who accompanied us was particularly detailed in her explanations, very knowledgeable and available to answer all the questions that were asked, with a fluent and understandable language for everyone, without technicalities but very precise; she was kind and welcoming, spontaneously. Really a beautiful experience. I recommend it! A small, delightful museum, tidy, clean, where you are treated with kindness, great care and professionalism. The guide is priceless, he explains everything to you very simply and at the same time with great technical precision. There is no coke in the cup. It is easy to park. A good experience, which after living and without embargo would be reprieved immediately. I recommend it with much enthusiasm! Very interesting right from the beginning of The tour where you see replicas of the beginning of life up to the dinosaurs. Our guided tour was in English. Not expensive, for 2 adults & 1 child, we paid 20€ only. Very nice staff and considerate for our child (misting water as it was very hot). Our son enjoyed a lot the fossils digging 😊 there's a bar for snacks and lunch, very nice to sit and eat under the trees.
Nice park about dinosaurs with a very interesting guide for the kids.
Very bad experience, 20 Euro just for some bad quality dinos? The worker is also not friendly. you need only 10 minutes for these less than 10 dinos, which is not worthwhile for 20 Euro
Very interesting place with a great guide. Worth to be visited.

(Translated by Google) I was humiliated as a man, as a father, as a disabled person. Good evening, as a disabled father, despite the manager's reassurances, I risked hurting myself on very rough terrain. Furthermore, the facility doesn't have a disabled bathroom (information omitted) when I contacted the facility. So, a disabled child or adult must go to the bathroom on their own. No concessions, despite the inconvenience the manager caused me by omitting essential information for a disabled person. I sent an email two days before the visit and was told that the park is accessible. In 2025, this is a disgrace. I imagine a child who isn't told that the park isn't accessible and doesn't have a disabled bathroom. I imagine that, after the humiliation of going on a very tiring and risky route, they need to go to the bathroom and can't, so they have to hold it in or, worse, they wet themselves, resulting in a very serious injury. I asked and invited the manager to update the bathroom in early November, but I don't think she did anything. In short, to collect the entrance fee, she exposed me to risks and humiliations, and my children to having their father feel uncomfortable and in distress.

(Translated by Google) SARDINIA – ZURI, CHURCH OF SAN PETER THE MOVEMENT OF THE CHURCH OF ST. PETER OF ZURI. An example of anastylosis. The church, in the hamlet of Ghilarza and entirely made of reddish trachyte from the Bidonì quarries, was built around 1291 during the Giudicato of Mariano II of Arborea, as can be read in the epigraph still present on the facade. It is 32.17 meters long, 9.89 meters wide and with a maximum height at the top of the roof of 10.20 m. The painted beams, however, were inexplicably lost during the reconstruction of the roofs in 1894. Between 1923 and 1925, the transport of the temple to another site became mandatory due to the construction of the Santa Chiara dam on the Tirso river, in order to create the invasion of Lake Omodeo, with Carlo Aru director of the works and who then wrote a book on the topic. On 11 July 1923, the works were handed over and completed in July 1925. Even though the trachyte is fragile, there were no notable problems in demolishing the construction or during transport: in general, it was realized that the ashlars were in good condition but without numbering. But, since Seddargius, the area initially chosen for the rebuilding of the town of Zuri, was replaced with the locality of Murreddu, the transport from one site to another, perhaps rushed and with insufficient supervision, caused two damages to the materials: they were stored in bulk and, having not observed the necessary precautionary rules, part of the ashlars were chipped on the edges (The replacement of the trachytic blocks was approximately 1/3 of the total, including those that were found already damaged on site during demolition) How do you read it in the source of the information we are giving you - TRUE OR FALSE? THE ANASTYLOSIS. A CASE IN SARDINIA OF THE 1920s by Carlo Pulisci is finally: "From today's analysis of St. Peter's, the first thing that emerges when observing the walls is the mix that was made in the reassembly of the trachyte blocks. The ashlars were positioned without any logical criterion, the internal ones became external and vice versa. clear evidence of this fact are the circular incisions present at every height on the outside and inside, which can be assumed to be the signs of the halos, remains of the frescoes that covered the interior of the church, as Roberto Coroneo rightly suggested to me"... but... "certainly the decision taken then to move such an illustrious monument of Sardinian art was excellent, and still allows us today to admire this beautiful construction, enriched by its unusual history with a further element of interest." (Original) SARDEGNA – ZURI, CHIESA DI SAN PIETRO LO SPOSTAMENTO DELLA CHIESA DI SAN PIETRO DI ZURI.

Pleasant church in the centre of Oristano. It is officiated by Franciscan monks who have lived in the adjacent monastery since 1253.
(Translated by Google) Adjacent to the Church of San Francesco it houses the Franciscan fathers. The convent of San Francesco mentioned in the will of the judge of Arborea Ugone II in 1335. The building witnessed important historical moments in the political and religious life of the Giudicato of Arborea: in fact, the highest authorities of the friars used to meet in the refectory of the friars Kingdom of Arborea, and in the same hall the peace treaty was signed in 1388 between Eleonora and the Catalan-Aragonese king John I the Soccer player. Unfortunately, the vast complex, after almost six centuries, lost cohesion and consistency and disappeared almost entirely with the complete transformation, due to the new construction between 1835 and 1838. The famous crucifix, known as the Nicodemus crucifix, is placed in a particular place in the church. It is a polychrome sculpture believed to be mainly from the Valencian school and certainly inspired by the Rhine. The crucifix is ascribed to the tragic and torn type and of the most heartbreaking agony, which the nascent German Expressionism also spread in Spain. Venerated on September 14th for the festival and fair on the occasion of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the crucifix can be dated to the first half of the 1300s, perhaps brought to Oristano from Tuscany. At the beginning of the 19th century the Gothic church threatened to collapse and in 1834 it was completely rebuilt. The task of carrying out the work was given to the Cagliari-born architect Gaetano Cima who, in reconstructing it, used the neo-classical style and was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, building a pronaos with 4 columns on the outside and on the inside, as well to the main altar and a small semicircular choir, 4 high chapels and 2 false and low chapels. On 22 May 1855, as a result of the "law of suppression" of religious orders, part of the convent and its furnishings were confiscated by the State Property Office. The monastery, on 24 August 1866, was occupied by the Military District and the adjacent garden was given as a free concession to the religious people who continued to officiate at the church, but living in private homes. In January 1875 the Franciscans redeemed the small infirmary of the convent and settled there. They still remain in the convent church today: The crucifix of Nicodemus; A marble statue of the Holy Bishop Basilio (a work by Nino Pisano from the 14th century); An altarpiece from the retable by Pietro Cavaro (Saint Francis receiving the stigmata); A silver processional cross (from the Oristano workshop of 1300, with Sienese influences); A reliquary (from an Oristano workshop from 1456); Parts of an altarpiece (dated 1602) by Bartolomeo Castagnola from Castelfranco Veneto; Other panels are exhibited in the Antiqvarivm Arborense Museum of Oristano and in the National Art Gallery of Cagliari.

(Translated by Google) The church of S. Francesco is annexed to the convent of the Minor Conventuals in the historic center of Oristano; its urban location infra moenia highlights its historical role as the fulcrum of political-cultural life town, a short distance from the cathedral of S. Maria Assunta and the headquarters of the highest authorities of Oristano. At the beginning of the nineteenth century the monumental complex was in an advanced state of decay; the church in 1835 was demolished and (the dome of the building erected between 1836 and 1838 based on a design by Antonio Cano collapsed) rebuilt between 1841 and 1847 under the direction of the architect Gaetano Cima in the canonical forms of Purist classicism. The lower left portion of the façade survives of the ancient church (northwest, m 8.63), in medium-sized trachyte and limestone ashlars; the Franciscan community of Oristano, still active, maintains part of the ancient monastic building and has undertaken an action to recover the structures currently incorporated into the Military District. In the last century it was tradition that the church belonged in origin of a monastery of the Basilian Order; The reliquary with the supposed skull of St. is kept in the Treasury. Basilio, Byzantine silver from the 4th century reworked in the 15th century in an Oristano workshop. They belonged with all probability to the liturgical endowment of S. Francesco some of the codices kept in the cathedral, in particularly the antiphonary and responsorial with Gregorian chant, attributable to the third quarter of the 13th century, with 23 illuminated initials, one of which depicts the saint from Assisi. The establishment of the Franciscan community a Oristano occurred within 1253, but it seems we can ascribe only a few to the first half of the 13th century. wall structures included in the convent building, in particular the section of the two-tone rows of facing trachyte and sandstone, where a single-lancet window opens with an ogival arch with a double conch. In the last quarter of the portal of the cloister dates back to the century, with its pointed arch and diamond-pointed eyebrows, and the other lights recently reported in sight; open in the façade of the monastery towards the cathedral, they are remarkably wide and have a semicircular rib with a large inclined display. Same location chronological order is appropriate for the surviving façade piece, of accentuated Gothic typology. The hoof has a shoe molded; along the edge of the corner pillar there is a small column with a capital with phytomorphic decoration like those of the corner pilasters. The beam columns rest on the plinth, which determined the tripartition into mirrors, of which the left one is visible externally (where traces of the statue there remain stood out) and the middle one, in which the portal opened and was then blocked. Each mirror is concluded by an arch splayed ogival with Gothic mouldings. The left arch is capped at the top by a gabled frame, that one right with an ogival eyebrow, also richly decorated with phytomorphic motifs. (Sardegna Cultura)

Average via ferrata with no markings for the exit that could go quite badly wrong if you don't find it
This via ferrata is just your average ferrata. The parking is great as there's lots of space for at least 20 cars. Be aware that the drive to it is a very small 2-way winding road. Gladly it is paved. This old castle is unmaintained so the approach to the ferrata is also quite overgrown. You start by following the road to the castle at the bottom of the valley, and from there a path branches off to the right (marked). The path is visible enough to follow, and takes about 10 minutes to get to the ferrata from the castle. The climb is an average climb, going around the cliff with the only cool part of going through a cave. Because you're at the bottom of a valley, you're not high off the ground, and so the view is not necessarily impressive. The way back up is very unclear as you go up a trail barely visible through the weeds. You end up at the far side of the castle. The Castello is not much either, but the landscape next to it makes it nicer. Overall, I would recommend doing other ferratas on the island. This one is only unique for its cave passage.
Just ruins. But the scenery is cool.
The via ferrata is quite short. It took us about 30 mins to do with a 20 min walk down to the start and about 20 min walk back up from the end of the ferrata. The trail leading to the ferrata from the castle is not maintained. The path was clearly visible, but shrubbery made it hard to pass through at times. From the castle, it took us 10 minutes to get to the beginning. The ferrata itself is interesting, with the cave being the most interesting part. Once you reach the end, the hike back up to the castle is very tricky to find but rather short as well (it wanders up the steep cliff, so be careful). In my opinion, it's 3 stars because I've done the other ferratas on the island and they are more fun with better views. But it's still worth doing to see the cave.

From the parking lot at the Rifugio you walk down to the ruins of the castle (keep right and not left to the climbing wall). Just before that, go right and down. At a foundation of a building (?) go left and stay near the rock wall. Then the path goes down and to the left to the rock wall. The steel cable hangs in the left corner.

The road to get to the car park by car is quite narrow and there isn't too much space to maneuver in case a car arrives in the opposite direction. Once you arrive at the car park you will find a closed refuge and some signs. For the via ferrata you need to follow the Araxisi sign (the via ferrata is not mentioned...). After about 10 minutes of steep descent you arrive at the ruins of the Medusa castle, where there is also a sign indicating that the via ferrata is CLOSED and that it is not possible to use the equipped route. Even the shelter near the car park now seems to be abandoned. It's a shame because the place deserves and should be valorized instead of being abandoned.

From the cathedral we walked the very short distance to the thirteenth century tower of Mariano II and I did the tour while Deb stayed below and avoided the very narrow spiral staircase. The tower was one of five in the original city wall and the only one remaining and there were nice views of the town from the top level. An excellent audio guide too and not too wordy!
Beautiful 13th-century tower. Climb to the top for great views of the town.
Just a 12th century tower, nothing interesting but it was an important historical work. Go up the tower for the view is nice.
This is one of the last buildings from the old city fortifications - actually this was the main entrance to the city. Tickets can be bought from the museum nearby. I suggest you do the museum visit first and see a mockup of the old fortifications. We were given a guided tour by Maurizio - really nice gentleman, typical of all Sardi :-) If you visit Oristano, then you have to visit the museum and this building.
Sadly it was pelting with rain and it had the tower was closed to prevent any Darwin attempts. Beautiful piece of engineering though.
Very nice for a short visit and see the town from above. Prices are very reasonable (EUR 2 for an adult, EUR 1 for a kid)
€3.50 per adult €2. Per child over 6 year. Information available in different languages the girl at the entrance is very helpful and kind providing all the information about the tower
Sadly the tower was closed for maintenance when i was there, but the plaques of information was still interesting and worth the visit when in oristano!

Just a really good shopping mall with great clothing, food and even entertainment variety. Everyone is nice inside and not discriminatory, it's fresh and clean and homey and the prices are overall pretty good. There's a hair salon, a thrift, a sports store, a pharmacy, a cafe, a corner store, a games store, a huge supermarket with literally all the food you need, furniture store although slightly limited, and 2-3 good clothing stores for teens and adults, 1 for children. Would definitely recommend.
The mall offers all you need.
We try to go as much as possible even those it's a long drive for us 30 km away. Shopping centre is in a good position with lots of parking spaces. Inside it's very clean with lots of choices to shop from.
Plenty of shops also traditional and local food and jewellery and ceramics. Very well stocked beauty chain and huge supermarket with great variety of food and home accessories.
Spent some time here during our Italy cycling tour. It was 38°C outside so we had to find some shade. A regular mall.
Nice to cool off and to shop. Very clean restrooms!
It is a shame because it is a good space but the quality of the shops is really low. The best thing are the parking space and the bars but I doubt a mall centre should be praised based on that!
Good place to make shopping. There are not many shops but the center offers good variety of different boutiques with good prices. There are also cafes, bakery, supermarket, pharmacy and optical and souvenir store there. It is the only big commercial center in Oristano.
