Fountain of the Rosello

Mentioned on
5 lists
Fountain
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in a tranquil corner of Sassari, the Fountain of the Rosello is an exquisite piece of history that dates back to the early 1600s. This charming fountain, often overlooked due to its location at the base of a hill on the outskirts of the old city, serves as a symbol for both Sassari and its rich heritage. The fountain features intricate designs and twelve spouts representing the passage of time, complemented by four statues that embody each season.
A beautiful and ornate fountain. If I am honest it needs some restoration. However, most cities have neglected historical attractions. It is worthy of a visit due to its architectural importance.
Alan F — Google review
The fountain is easy to miss because it's oddly placed on the outskirts of the old city at the bottom of a hill, hidden from plain view. Look for it and make the effort of going down that hill, even if you don't feel like doing it. You will be rewarded with details that you can't otherwise see.
Georges Y — Google review
The fountain is supposedly one of the main symbols of Sassari. What a pity then to find it under a bridge in the middle of nowhere with weeds and potholes to face, and no other visitors.
David S — Google review
Although the fountain is architecturally beautiful and its history is impressive, the lack of signage and absence of any informational plaques take away much of its charm. The site appears quite neglected; the path leading down is steep and overgrown with tall grass. Proper lighting and a few benches would help give this place the character it deserves. Overall, a missed opportunity with great potential.
Rafał Z — Google review
Nice fountain by an underpass. Don’t go out of your way to visit.
Stuart C — Google review
We were quit dissapointed. The fountain itself is beautifull, but placed / surrounded by nothing. I would reccomend either to build there nice park with benches, trees which could separate this area from city, or to move this fountain to city park.
Milan S — Google review
I saw it on a Saturday afternoon about 5pm when it was open, free and even had a chap to explain things. Although overgrown, the path down to the fountain was obviously well made as the source was much used. To the left, closed off but visible through a crack in the fence, is the runoff off the fountain where people washed their clothes. The fountain itself is great with spurting lions and dolphins and some Latin if you're up for it.
Brad D — Google review
Very disappointed. The fountain is so beautiful but very hidden in Sassari. One can access in the morning only from Monday to Friday, from memory, and the former magnificent staircase leading to it is closed, covered with bushes, grass, undergrowth. We dis not walk towards the entre as closer. No value creation, no promotion of such a monument. It disappeared from everyone’s vue. Very sad.

Piazza Italia is a bustling nineteenth-century square located in the heart of the city. It serves as a popular gathering spot and is flanked by notable landmarks such as the Palace of the Province and the neo-Gothic Palazzo Giordano. This vibrant square offers visitors a glimpse into the city's rich history and architectural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring the area.
very nice shop, clean smiling and helpful staff, we don't speak Italian very well and the manager supported us for our shopping. top shop.I will be back during our holiday they have too good things

(Translated by Google) After a long absence, the clothing and accessories store has reopened. Large size offers a wide range of items for the whole family. The business presents itself very bright and well assorted, the prices are consistent and in line with other brands in the area. Easy and convenient to reach as it also has a large car park (Original) Dopo una lunga assenza ha riaperto il punto vendita di abbigliamento e accessori. Ampia metratura mette a disposizione una vasta gamma di capi per tutta la famiglia. Facile ed agevole da raggiungere disponendo anche di un ampio parcheggio

(Translated by Google) Bad experience today in the Predda Niedda shop next to Wok. Two extremely rude sales assistants ignored us while we waited at the checkout to pay. It was more or less lunch time and after trying on the items, we tried to pay, but the two girls, after noticing us, didn't bother to join us at the cash register to make us pay and continued to mind their own business. After witnessing this painful scene, my wife and I looked at each other, left the items on the counter and left. The shop was nice and the clothing was quite nice, but the professionalism of the staff is zero. I hope the management intervenes.

Mentioned on

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cattedrale di San Nicola is a medieval Romanesque cathedral that boasts a later baroque facade, as well as Gothic and neoclassical features. Its left side showcases an intriguing blend of architectural styles due to the building's 600-year construction period which features elements from Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical eras. The elaborate frontal design is impressive but visitors should not neglect exploring the rest of the cathedral.
If you like to visit very beautiful churches, here's one for you! Everything about this magnificent church is impressive. I visited twice in three days. Quite amazing!!!
Alan F — Google review
Pretty neat and ornate church. Disappointing it was closed when we arrived so we could not see the interior.
Richard — Google review
Explore the beautifully maintained cathedral with its intriguing features and a hint of mystery. The narrow streets make it more enjoyable to walk rather than drive, especially if you are unfamiliar with these tiny roads. Discover the cathedral's charming rooms for dining and meetings.
Elena M — Google review
Churches are not exactly an endangered species in Italy. After a while the memory of visiting one gets mixed up with the memory of visiting another. Except here. The Duomo boasts some seriously impressive architecture. Outside the huge Spanish baroque-style facade is breathtaking. Inside the church is divided into numerous chapels, each has a description in both Italian and English. The highlight of a visit to Sassari.
David S — Google review
The left side of the cathedral is perhaps the most interesting aspect of this building because it reveals several architectural styles. Since it took 600 years to complete, the cathedral mixes Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical elements. The ornate facade will not fail to impress, but don't let it stop you from checking out the rest of the building.

Beautiful park, nicely kept. But there is nothing to do - You can't even sit since there are no benches ... 🤷🏻
Jernej S — Google review
We were dissapointed, because we expected nice park in the city with fountains, nice trees, etc. Fountains were not working, one water storage near to entrance was unmaintained, the lawn was nice + some nice olive or lemon trees, but it's not worth to spend there more then 15minutes.

The ethnographic section boasts the oldest collection of Sardinian ethnographic demo objects on the island.
Very cool museum, a lot of Roman artefacts.

Great ancient and heritage items and some amazing clothes, dress designs. We enjoyed the time here. However just be aware everything is in Italian, no English version’s guide or information at all. You can only paid by cash for the tickets!!!
Cherry’s U — Google review
This museum covers extensive eras in the history of civilisations across Sardegna and the Mediterranean. Artifacts have been discovered on the island. We were fascinated to learn about those who inhabited the Nuraghe that are scatted across the island.
Maree A — Google review

Francesco G — Google review
Thanks to the closure of two departments that are under reconstruction the museum seemed a bit small. But the exposition is very interesting and educating

Wonderful, emotional experience! Carmen said the “Nuragica” story in such an interesting way, it became one of our best museum experience. The VR at the end is a plus, however being able to “enter” in the life of the Nuragic people, was the best experience lately.
Irina M — Google review
Great place and so kind host who let me in just after opening hour and guided me - only me -even though I did not have reservation that is why I recommend to book earlier - guided tour only - a host was so nice with excellent English very engaged speaking about History in a very easy and interesting way presenting nuragic culture artefacts which are not original but looks very much so - and at the end there was fantastic multimedial presentation bringing you to nuragic village 4 000 ears Ago. Amazing !!!Day after visiting this Museum I went to Archaeological Museum in Cagliari and it was so great to visit it with all the information I got in this place - I definetly advise to come here before Archaeological Museum

Spiaggia di Porto Ferro

Public beach
Outdoor Activities
Spiaggia di Porto Ferro is a renowned beach in Sardinia, known for being one of the island's most extensive nudist beaches. It was officially designated as a nudist beach in 2018 and offers specific areas for naturist visitors. The beach features a 200-meter stretch of tiny coves beyond the stone tower at the end of the beach, providing privacy for nudist sunbathing.
What a great atmosphere! It’s like moving back in time into the 60s! Freedom, peace, love and beautiful people as well as one of the best sunset spots we’ve been to. There’s a rocky part and there’s a good stretch of reddish sand. It’s nicely nested in a deep bay, resulting in spectacular views. There’s a bar and griglieria, working as a co op, so the prices are great and their food is really nice, make sure to bring some money as you can buy some ethnic jewellery, tie dye or batik fabrics and lots of other treasures! It was, by far, our favourite beach.
Eliza T — Google review
A very nice, a bit wild, dog friendly beach with 2 nice Bars, cafes at the south end. Soft sand and shallow water. No life guard. Loved this place.
TKD T — Google review
Beautiful, wild beach with golden clear water, and a natural vibe. We visited with our dog and it was absolutely perfect plenty of space, no stress, and our four legged friend had the time of his life running around and splashing in the water. It’s not overly crowded, and the surrounding landscape is stunning. Great spot for nature lovers, peaceful walks, and laid-back beach days. Highly recommended for dog owners. This place truly feels welcoming and free. One warning: the parking situation feels like a trap. There’s no clear information, and yet fines are handed out like candy. The beach is fantastic — but the parking enforcement is a joke. Pay attention, or you’ll pay for it.
Miron D — Google review
Pretty nice beach for being free. A good break from having to pay so much for others. There was plenty of space on the beach area and lots of room to swim. The parking lot is a bit trashy but you don't swim in the parking lot. There's about a 400 meter walk to the beach from the parking lot which is not biggie. Just letting you know in case you plan on bringing a bunch of stuff. Enjoy!
Cassia G — Google review
We were there for the sunset which was amazing. Stunning view. But the beach is very dirty, full of plastic pieces and not only. Go there without expectations for the beach, but just for the sunset that worths.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Piazza d'Italia is a bustling town square located in the heart of Sassari, featuring impressive classic architecture and several shops and restaurants. The surrounding buildings date back to the late 19th century, showcasing grandiose styles typical of Italy's post-unification era. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dining options in the square or nearby cafes, especially during evenings when the area comes alive with locals dressed in their finest attire.
Beautiful architecture surrounded by quaint narrow cobblestoned streets steeped in history. Not overcrowded end of Sept!
Angie O — Google review
Piazza d'Italia is the main square of Sassari. it is dominated by the neo-Classical Palazzo della Provincia. There are plenty of places to enjoy a drink and admire the surroundings. It comes alive at night. Maybe it's just me but the square just seemed too polished and modern and didn't really impress.
David S — Google review
Piazza d'Italia in Sassari, Sardinia, has won my heart with its captivating charm and lively atmosphere. I had a delightful experience here, and I'm excited to share my thoughts. Nestled in the heart of Sassari, this picturesque square boasts a wonderful selection of restaurants, offering a diverse culinary experience that caters to all tastes. From traditional Italian dishes to international cuisines, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings. The variety of dining options nearby is definitely a big plus! What truly sets Piazza d'Italia apart is the enchanting ambiance it exudes. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by the lively sounds of music, creating a delightful backdrop as you stroll through the square. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the local culture while enjoying a pleasant evening with friends or loved ones. However, I'm giving it four stars instead of five due to the occasional overcrowding during peak hours, which can make it a bit challenging to find a comfortable seating spot. Nonetheless, the overall experience was still enjoyable and worth a visit. If you're looking for a lively and gastronomically rich destination in Sassari, Piazza d'Italia is the place to be. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply love immersing yourself in the local vibes, this charming gem is sure to leave you with lasting memories.

This is most likely the largest and most central square in Sassari. Many of the buildings surrounding it are from the late 19th century, done in a grandiose style by a re-emerging Italy after the unification of the country in 1870. There are many restaurants, eateries and cafés on the square and in the vicinity. The square comes alive in the evening.

Good place to see the locals wandering about dressed up nicely, especially on a Saturday afternoon on. I was there on the last Sunday of the month (September) and there was a flea market happening with maybe 20 stalls.

140 Grammi Carbonazzi

$$$$cheap
Restaurant
I really enjoyed dining at 140 Grammi - Via Carbonazzi. The spaghetti was fantastic, and the portions were generous. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly. However, the only downside was the small and cold bathroom, with no facilities for disabled individuals. This simple yet charming restaurant serves delicious seafood pasta at reasonable prices. It's important to note that the dishes are quite large and can be shared between two people. I appreciated the tasteful indoor decor featuring posters.
Best meal so far In Sardinia, food was delicious and great service. Good price for quality of food. We leave happy !!
GAFFER B — Google review
"quantity" restaurant with below average food, just large portions. Honest horse steak, bad roasted potatoes, terrible house wine. Frozen mixed fried seafood (edible).
Luigi C — Google review
The portions are very large, we tried carbonara , amatriciana and vongole cozze. The sauces of carbonara and amatriciana were heavy, with the size of the portion they were a bit too much. On the plus side, the order arrived very quickly, and the price is attractive for the amount of food you are getting. Perhaps it is a good advice to order one place to split with a friend.
K W — Google review
I liket this place, spaghetti were awesome and huge portions. I mean it. Fast service, nice stuff. The only negative thing was the bathroom because it's very very small and cold and I didn't see any bathroom for disable people.
Elisabetta S — Google review
Good food, you have to share one portion of pasta for two people because poetion is very big, but pasta with seafood contains not so much seafood and a lot of empty shells.

A faultless restaurant. Wonderful seafood, seamless and friendly service, and a great atmosphere of diners pretty much all of whom knew the staff and each other.

WHY! I love food. I visited maybe 500 Italian restaurants. This is the best one as far as I remember. Definitely best in Sardinia. I could not believe how simple pasta could taste so well ! If someone diserves Michelin stars, it is this place

Not even my words can explain how good the food is, every month it’s a surprise to know what delights there are in the new menu. It is one of the few restaurants where you can understand that the food is made with passion. Also the service is perfect, very reliable and kind.

Food was superb, staff most helpful in explaining the intricacies of each dish. I would rate it as the best food I had during this week-long visit to Sardinia.

Fantastic! It was our first time in this fastastic restaurant. We were invited by our friends. Everything was special, fresh. The presentation of each dish was superb. The waiter was very professional and knowledge about each single dish. The fish was fresh and taste unbelievable. Thank You Giamaranto, we hope to come back soon!

I would rate it at least 6, the food is a spectacle and the wine is a medicine… service is impeccable. We were in November there, best food and drinks of the year 2022 probably

We had 6 days in a row dinner in this restaurant. Roberto and Amadeo are very nice people and their food is EXCELLENT. We had 5 days different fish dished and once their steak filet and enjoyed them all. The service and personal attention they provide their customers is outstanding. We had every night a good bottle of Sardinian wine which was of great quality. A dinner with everything included will cost you between €35, €/45 per person, including starter/main dish/water/wine/desert and coffee. But it is really worth it's price. We can only recommend and are sure you will enjoy it.. We would like to thank Roberto for having us and taking care of us. Gilbert & Denise Brussels - Belgium

Ristorante L'Assassino

$$$$affordable
Sardinian restaurant
L'Assassino, a renowned Sardinian restaurant, offers an exceptional dining experience. However, advance table reservations are essential due to its popularity. The menu showcases traditional cuisine with excellent quality and freshness of ingredients. Generous portions are served, offering a good balance between cost and value. A must-try dish is the highly recommended "Maialetto," which ranks among the best in Sardegna.
Very nice dinner place in Sassari! Best to make a reservation as it’s full! Amazing dishes, the snails are not to miss and we also liked the porchetta a lot. Portions are huge but prices not, so great value for money!
Luiza F — Google review
The food doesn't need an introduction. The restaurant has been there a lifetime, and they have mastered proper Sassari traditional dishes. The service, managed by three young ladies, is without any doubt the best you can get anywhere. They are attentive but not intrusive, make eye contact while interacting with the guests, and overall have an affable approach to the customers’ needs, a proper, chilled, professional restaurant experience rather than a feeding exercise, which is common in Italy. Really enjoyed.

One of the best restaurant we had the pleasure to have dinner in. Unfortunately it is necessary to book your table at least one day before. We were rejected twice because the restaurant was fully booked and we did not have the reservation. Traditional food is really good, great and fresh ingredients, generous portions. Good balance between cost and quality. The "Maialetto" is absolutely a MUST. Is is one of the BEST ever eaten in Sardegna.

Sardinian restaurant
Il Vecchio Mulino is a charming restaurant located in the old town of Sassari, offering an authentic taste of Italian and Sardinian cuisine. The rustic ambiance and locally sourced ingredients create a memorable dining experience. Visitors praise the friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious, fresh dishes. The menu may be small but offers mouth-watering options with excellent service that goes above and beyond to accommodate special requests.
First time in Sassari, first time to this restaurant. If I ever make it back to this town, it will be the only place I’d go for food as it was so top-notch that in my point of view nothing would be able to beat it. Excellent service and athmosphere, but this only give a tony extra to the quality and awesomeness of the food we had… highly, highly recommended for people who are not seekinf huge portions but good quality and mouth-watering taste. Compliments to the team again, as I did in person after finishing our magnificent experience at this place today. 5* and more :)

The ambiance is great, lovely decor and feels. Looks like an old tavern. Lovely staff. Food was really good, we had a mixed appetizer, loved the local Ricotta, and had mixed grilled meats and boar cooked in red wine. Definitely would recommend a visit.

Amazing Food. Try the “degustazione” starter, which is a culinary experience. Boar meat was extraordinary. The ambient is great. Fair prices for the quality of products served. Can definitely recommend!

The place was above our expectations - really pleasant atmosphere, super nice staff who speak English, the food was really tasty, the pear dessert was amazing, they even served delicious vegan meal (eventhough it was not on the menue) and their house wine is extremely good. We reccomend it deeply and we will definitely come again ☺️

Located in the heart of Sassari, in the northern region of Sardinia, La Volpe e L'Uva is a sought-after eatery that combines both barbecue and pizzeria delights. This popular restaurant offers excellent value for money, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The menu boasts an array of delectable options, such as top-notch beef dishes that are known for their exceptional quality.
Definitely one of the most memorable dinners I had during my time in Sassari. The food was exceptional with rich taste and it was beautifully arranged. This is a must for anyone who enjoys local food. Since it is in a vault it can get a bit noisy at times.

We had a family meal here that was really nice. The restaurant was busy for a Tuesday night but we were seated to our reserved table promptly. The menu has seafood, vegetarian and meat options across all pages. The setting of the restaurant was slightly below ground with clean beautiful and brightly lit vaulted ceilings adorning our view. The bathroom was small for a restaurant this size (probably seats up to 100 people), but I find it hard to find much else to rate this restaurant down. There was a handful of children all very well behaved and the servers were very approachable and friendly. The bells of the old church were ringing when we arrived in the evening and we left with a big smile.

Amazing food – the pasta with clams and bottarga was one of the best I’ve ever had. Simple, flavorful, and perfectly coated. Also the Seada with honey, so good. Service was friendly and very attentive. They could maybe use a little boost on social media to reach more people 😉

Very big restaurant, with nice and smart staff. The food is fantastic, definitely worth a try if you are in the zone. Be aware that you need to make a reservation before you get there, because in the evening is a little bit crowded.

Friday night, the place was packed but the service was still good. I didn't come here with the idea of eating a pizza but their gourmet pizza section was very appealing and the (forgot its name) pizza with courgette cream, caramelised red onion and buffalo mozzarella was a spectacular combination, on a perfectly executed pie. The Irish picanha with roasted potatoes was excellent as well (although a bit over market price in Sassari). However, no regrets. A great dinner.

Great food. The steak I had was really delicious, very tender. The tiramisu as one of my favorite desserts was a great choice, also delicious, 100% mascarpone. The patio inside is quite nice. Service could be better, as a foreigner staff kept talking to me in Italian even noticing I don’t speak the language, I managed to just pointing things at the menu (menu in Italian only also) but they could be friendlier or at least show some openness if they don’t speak English. A little bit overpriced but the food worth it.

Amazing food experience!! I can’t accept they only get 4.3 right now, cause it’s much better than that, I definitely give this restaurant 10 out of 10, for their considerate services and amazing foods! One important thing is that they speak good English, you could express your requests easily even though it sounds like unreasonable;) Anyway, I would highly recommend foodies to come here and you’ll never be disappointed:)

Pizza restaurant
Tritus, an Italian restaurant located in the heart of downtown Sassari, offers a delightful dining experience. The cuisine is exquisite, with mouthwatering dishes such as pasta that leave you amazed. Their tiramisu is absolutely fantastic and can easily be shared by two people. During the summer months, you can enjoy your meal in their lovely outdoor seating area. The staff is friendly and attentive; however, some customers have mentioned that the service for bringing the bill could be slow at times.
We had lunch here last weekend, and the food was great, the waiters nice to us and their deserts worth a try. Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Andreea L — Google review
We arrived and thought the place was cute and nice, sat down to order the waitress was EXTRA rude, we wanted our nachos and tacos first, she decided that no she wants to bring everything together which she did and we have to wait A LOT and had to eat the tacos and nachos cold! Also the food was TERRIBLE the meat was tasteless, nachos were old not crispy and the taco shell was soggy! And let’s not talk about the shitty desert! I would NOT recommend unless you want to throw away money! The place is super duper over priced for the quality of food.
Pamela Z — Google review
I had a really disappointing experience overall. First, the tacos were completely bland—no flavor in the meat, just a huge letdown. Then came the hamburger, which was somehow served without bread. How does that even happen? A hamburger without a bun is just a sad pile of ingredients. On top of that, I had pasta the previous night, and even that wasn’t great. Overall, the food here seems poorly prepared and uninspired. Definitely not a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for a decent meal.

Good restaurant at Sassari downtown. The food was delicious. I’ve ordered some pasta and it was terrify. The tiramisu is wonderful and enough for two, don’t miss it. The outside seating area is very nice on summer. Staff was very friendly the only point was if took a long time to bring the bill. A place I recommend a visit while visiting Sassari.

The food was very good. We ordered two pasta dishes: one Carbonara and one seafood pasta. The seafood pasta was a bit lacking in flavor, but the Carbonara was excellent – perfectly cooked and very tasty. Overall, a satisfying meal, especially if you enjoy classic Italian dishes.

Best place in Sassari. A lots of fresh and tasty food. You get freshly cut bread and even freshly baked bread before your meal. Seafood and vegetables were great. Prices are good. Nice sitting area outside. Staff is very attentive and friendly. I will be back soon.

The order of two pizza turned into a disaster. We put the order at 8PM, after the starter we had to wait until 9PM to get our pizza (including several requests which always got the same answers: it is ready, it is ready!). One of the two pizza was so salty (clearly too many anchovies and capers...) that it was impossible to eat. We informed the waiter, and despite the pizza was sent back we were charged for it. Bad service, low quality food. To avoid!

Trattoria Loludà is a remarkable restaurant in Sardinia that offers a delightful vegetarian dinner. Despite the scarcity of vegetarian options in the area, this trattoria manages to serve an exceptional veg carbonara dish. Even meat-eaters are satisfied with the food here. The spaghetti dish topped with roe is especially mouthwatering, so much so that one might order multiples. The service provided is outstanding and the wine selection is impeccable.
Highly recomended place, with nice atmosphere and service. Pasta with crabs was perfect. Also pasta with eggplant was favourite. Gnocchi was a little bit overcooked.

The outside was closed with a beautiful view on a beautiful day, inside is not very relaxing and good looking, very bare for a restaurant this price. One pasta dish I couldn’t even eat - the ingredient did not go together at all! Another dish was fine, but the prices are too high even for that. Waste of money, would not recommend, you can find a cheaper place with tastier food than this expensive ‘experiment’

I recently dined at Trattoria da Gian Luca, a Sardinian restaurant, after being enticed by positive food reviews. I was thoroughly impressed! The entire experience, from the delicious cuisine to the attentive service and cozy ambiance, was impeccable. Even the fellow patrons were delightful. Should I have the opportunity to return to this beautiful island in the future, I will definitely make it a point to revisit this exceptional eatery.
I have a sweet spot for small restaurants, which are not fancy in looks, but rather prefer to focus on the food. This one did cover all the requirements I have - small, but interesting menu, great food, which I can't taste everywhere and good service. We tried donkey, eggplant, peas, beans, and pasta with pork and broccoli. Small portions are preferred in this case as it lets you taste more things. And one would like to try everything on the menu. Well calibrated food, which we understand is quite local. The staff was quite fast as there were two waitresses for just a few tables. The chef occasionally checked in as well. The menu is not in English (and some of the things you have to google, as translate don't work with those specific names), but the staff did speak English so it was not an issue.

Best restaurant in a long time. I think foreigners should come here to check how traditional cuisine in Italy was (I am italian). Gianluca and the waiters are very friendly. They are eager to talk about food, and we ended up talking about food with the other guests. That adds to the experience a lot, IMHO. We had vino della casa (0.5l for 6.5 euros) and it was amazing. But what matter most is: - we really ate vegetables (not like in a vegan restaurant where one mostly eat soya and cereals) - the menu was really different wrt other restaurants, some of the dishes belong to sardinian tradition and I had never heard of. This comment is also a cfitic to other restaurants. Of course crudites are great, but they are fashion, not tradition.and now every restaurant feels they have to offer them in the menu. Pizza is good, but not to eat every day.

We had a great Dinner at El Burladero. The staff was very friendly and fast, the food was amazing (we LOVED the fried vegetables so much) and the owner Gabriela was super lovely and a great host. Food quality average, even good, service acceptable and price reasonable but on the Saturday night we ate here the atmosphere was office canteen rather than restaurant. I’m surprised the waiters could keep up with the mess. The place packed full with people talking at the top of their lungs, long tables under the neon lights of the industrial warehouse, waiters running around like crazy. The exact opposite of a quiet meal in a cozy location.

Probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had! The dough was thin and perfectly crusty. The staff were super friendly, the service was fast, and the prices were reasonable. Can’t wait to come back soon. :D Edit: Another visit, another pleasant experience. There was a little mistake in one pizzas in our order, and they made a new pizza for free. We stopped here on our drive to Alghero for a late lunch based on great reviews. This did not disappoint. The pizza was some of the best we’ve had in Italy (and we’ve come annually for 10 years!). The server from Roberto and Daniele were great as well. Don’t miss the black crust for at least one of your pizzas. It is delicious. The deserts are also fantastic. Ps: come hungry!!

We got some pizzas to go and the service was great. The pizza was delicious, my only complaint is that they need more ferment on the dough. It's pretty bland. However, their toppings are great. We especially enjoyed the pizza with the curly fries on top and the pizza seadas, which I forgot to take a photo of. They even threw in another dessert with Nutella which was also good. We'd definitely go back. Enjoy!

Transportation in Sassari

Getting around Sassari can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Figari-South Corsica Airport

Airport
Figari-South Corsica Airport, also known as Figari Sud-Corse Airport (FSC), is located approximately 25km from Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio in Corse du Sud. The airport offers limited shuttle bus service to Porto Vecchio and is just 4km from Figari village. Despite being a small airport, it provides essential facilities for travelers. It's advisable to book flights early due to fluctuating prices throughout the year.
Volitea check in staff are excellent & extremely helpful especially with our little chihuahua Blue. All the staff here are approachable, pleasant & ready to help.Security Staff include & they are thorough. Departure lounges are small for the amount of passengers boarding an Airbus 320. Once in the departure lounge I was going to complain the only water available was in the toilets. However, the little cafe then opened up and drinks were available. I'm sure it will feel claustrophobic in the high summer season.
Martin W — Google review
Small but perfectly formed. This airport shows that airports don't need to be massive to fulfil the needs of passengers. The staff were very helpful when I used it in my flights to and from the UK in 2023 and the walk to and from the aircraft and the terminal was the shortest I've seen at any airport I've been to.
Simon B — Google review
Don’t fly to this airport. On arrival they don’t indicate where to get your luggage. On departure there is total chaos, no ordered cues, people skipping the line because that’s totally possible, entering the security check takes ages because they only have 2 (!!) portals. I think it’s worth the money to fly somewhere better.
Jules V — Google review
I was a bit worried reading all the reviews, but I have to say I had a very positive experience overall: all staff was kind and helpful, there were seats if we wanted and the toilets were clean (especially before security, but the after one was also not ‘that’ bad). Probably it depends on the day of the travel, we had a 9:40 flights and before it was 3 at 8 am, after 10:15, so basically our flight was the only passengers probably on the airport. And also it depends on one’s attitude: if you rude and inpatient, probably the staff will react accordingly 🤷 (what is not nice, but c’est la vie francais / corse 😅) So for a small airport, not that bad, they might need to consider repositioning their shops after security and extending the waiting area here if they have so many flights. Except - last minute - they are really unorganised 😨… they forgot to check the passports after boarded half of the passengers 🤦‍♂️… so starting again 😏 Back to 4 as they sorted out efficiently 💪
Zoltan L — Google review
One of the worst experience! We have our flight in 1h and 30 minutes, waiting at the line and when trying to pass the security check a lady comes and tells us that "we're too early and we can not enter and we need to wait again in line for 20 minutes".
Catalin U — Google review
One of the most amazing airports I've been in! Stupid? Noo, I'm actually the stupid one. After waiting in the security line for about 25/30 minutes, the security guy replies with "you have to wait for the call to come to the security" while pointing to the screen. He seemed like a nice person tho. It's a good thing I only speak portuguese and english because none of these were useful :D - I look at the indications in english on the screen.. and there's none. Just says "on time", which is great, because at this rate, at least one of us is going to be on time! Only after we went to the information desk (they speak english, their english is great, 5 stars, coming from someone who only has portuguese as their first language) they decided to let everyone know that... That... The security for our flight was outside, and we could now start going over there! I have no beef with people working there, they were all really nice to me personally, professional, the organization of the airport is just a bit awful. I'm guessing most tourists go to Corsica during summer, which makes the airport go beyond it's capacity. Maybe, for the construction to be "profitable", people would have to come in at large or at least more during winter, fall, etc.. So I guess this will just keep going until they decide to expand it nonetheless the effort-profit, and sacrifice their quality in the meantime. For the people who say "other people are being too judgemental or being overly dramatic", just remember to kindly not invalidate other people's feelings/experiences considering you wouldn't like for someone to say your review is "too optimistic or too good" either.
Inês V — Google review
This is the worst airport I’ve ever been, it’s so small and chaotic in July for how many flights they handle. It’s a SHAME TO FRANCE and to this beautiful island.
David S — Google review
Air Corsica (Air France) check-in personnel either speak no English, or 4th grader level English. 30 - 40 minute delays, wait times and near zero charging ports at this airport. Expect abysmal service.

Alghero Airport

International airport
Alghero Airport, also known as Alghero-Fertilia Airport, is situated in the north-western part of Sardinia and serves various areas including Santa Teresa di Gallura, Castelsardo, Sassari, Porto Torres, Stintino, Argentiera, Bosa, Oristano, Tresnuraghes and S'Archittu.
Super lttle airport. Very easy to manage. There is a Tourist Information desk just outside the arrivals hall. We were collecting a hire car from Budget and the pick up point was within walking distance from the terminal.
Jane T — Google review
Cute airport aereal gate to the historical city of Alghero and to the North West part of the mysterious island of Sardinia. Functional design based on a rectangular base correctly distributed. Moreover, it doesn't loose the opportunity to show the wonders of Sardinian history through diverse stands and pictures across the facility. The success of Alghero as a summer destination increased the amount of flights reaching the original design capacity of the facility. The waiting section after security control may be over busy when several departures are close to each other and not all the passengers may find a place to sit, an expansion may be needed in the next years. An hourly bus connects the airport with Alghero's downtown, a higher frequency may be needed on peak season.
Alex S — Google review
cute little airport… but nothing to do. after security there’s two small cafes, a vending machine, a water refill (that was broken when we arrived and a traveler had to fix it since there’s NO ONE around to ask!), about 2-3 other shops and dirty toilets. i think there’s 4 (2 male, 2 female) toilets for many people to share so the queue was long. there also isn’t enough seating for everyone so half the airport were just sitting on the floor. it’s easy to find your way around but as mentioned there’s no one around to ask like for example security or other workers (except in stores and cafes) like you’ll see in other, bigger airports. check in was somehow broken when we got there and seeing as you HAVE to check in at a desk this took a while. they also only had two desks open at first for our fully booked plane. security went surprisingly fast even though there was only maybe 3 or 4 lines open.

‼️Public transportation ‼️ - You can buy your bus ticket online using the DropTicket or TabNet app. - Alternatively, there is a ticket machine located right next to the taxi lane. Please note: the tobacco shop does not sell bus tickets. - The ticket machine is not located at the bus station. - The bus station is on your right as you exit the arrivals area. - Please check the website of ARST for bus schedules, they might change season to season. Buses to Alghero generally depart on the hour (e.g., 12:00, 13:00, etc.). Bus n.760 goes to Sassari.

So typically Italian. Looks great, works like... Examples range from security checks to the internet. Thirty years ago, we had the same tech. This post couldn't be submitted from the Wi-Fi connection. Q.e.d.
