Liberation Hall

Mentioned on
1 list
Cultural landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Liberation Hall, also known as Befreiungshalle, is a grand monument situated on Michelsberg hill. It was commissioned by King Ludwig to honor the victories in battles against the French during the Wars of Liberation from 1813 to 1815. Constructed with local limestone, this monumental temple features allegories of Germanic tribes.
On our winter road trip to Berlin, we made a delightful stop in Kelheim! Despite the chilly December day and gentle snowfall, the exterior of the Liberation Hall took our breath away. Its impressive size and beautifully sculptured walls were truly captivating. We have very peaceful moments while admiring the structure. A perfect little gem to explore on the way! ❄️🏛️❤️

This building is inside really huge! Really nice view outside and stunning inside! If you have chance, visit this place! Near parking is great and is ready for any size of car. Nice clean toilets. Nice view from the bistro.
Jarda H — Google review
It's lovely inside, but mainly it is in German. So I could only use Google translate and also read up online to understand it. The walk up to the top of the dome is a very narrow stairs but the view up in the dome is superb. Giving a 4 stars, cos I couldn't understand German.
MJ L — Google review
Wonderful architecture and views from the top. Restaurant next to the ticket office. It wasn't crowded and if you take your own food/drinks you can have a picnic and enjoy the sun.
Daisy A — Google review
A great place to visit, even though it doesn’t feature any special exhibitions or temporary displays. The surrounding area is very attractive. However, we were disappointed to find that both of the shortest walking routes to the Danube River were closed, without any clear reason.
Daniel B — Google review
Really cool monument. Typical of mid 19th century early German nationalism. Great views of the Danube.
Patrick F — Google review
Please buy tickets at the entrance, because it is 300 meters away from exhibition. If it’s warm sunny weather cover yourself.
Yakub B — Google review
This place can be a lot of work to get to if you park at the bottom however it felt great making it all the way to the top! Lucky for me the rain held off and was a good hike. Inside the liberation hall which you have to pay to enter just go to the visitor center. But it has some gorgeous views from the top! Definitely a must! Lots of history marked in here.

A beautiful city gate from the 14th century and with a fresco
Benseer M — Google review
The Mittertor is one of Kelheim’s three medieval city gates, originally constructed in the 13th century as part of the town’s fortifications. This defensive tower once featured a saddle-shaped roof; in the early 19th century it was rebuilt with a tent-style roof, similar to those on the other gates. A striking feature of the Mittertor is the fresco painted on the inner side of the tower in 1904 by Georg Lickleder. It commemorates local butcher Matthias Kraus, who led a revolt against Austrian occupiers on December 12, 1705. The original painting is now preserved in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.

The Archaeological Museum Kelheim is a hidden gem that showcases an impressive collection of artifacts from the local region. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through its exhibits, often experiencing them in relative solitude, which adds to the charm. The museum recently hosted a captivating street art exhibition that beautifully blended modern creativity with archaeological treasures, enhanced by ambient music and video presentations—an element many hope will become a permanent feature.

Danube Gorge

Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
The Danube Gorge is a stunning region along the Bavarian section of the Danube river characterized by impressive 131-ft. cliffs, and is a popular destination for hiking and boating enthusiasts. It offers splendid views with an array of colors from green trees, blue or dark waters to white grey cliffs, pink or yellow flowers making it a fantastic place to explore. This beautiful location is highly recommended for day trips, boat cruises and outdoor walking amidst peaceful surroundings with relatively low crowds.
Amazing sightseeing, peaceful area. The roundtrip ticket price for the ship was 19.5 euro, but it worth it. During the excursion, they give nice details about the river and places around it in english and german. Just relax order a drink and enjoy the moments.

Altes Rathaus Regensburg

Historical landmark
City Hall
The Altes Rathaus Regensburg, or the Old Town Hall, is a captivating blend of Gothic and Baroque architecture that stands as a testament to the city's rich history. Dating back to the early 14th century, this remarkable structure was once the heart of civic life in Regensburg and hosted significant events like the Imperial Diet of the Holy Roman Empire from 1663 to 1806.
Awesome tour! I attended the German tour at 1200, and used a device that gave English translations at each stop. There is an English tour available at 1400, but I didn’t have time to wait for that one. Very awesome experience and beautiful scenes to witness in person. I highly recommend to all history lovers to attend this tour. Well worth the 7.5 Euro.
A. T — Google review
Rathaus is one of the most historically significant buildings in Regensburg. With its origins dating back to the 13th century, it served not only as the seat of the city council, but also as a key political centre of the Holy Roman Empire. From 1663 to 1806, its Reichssaal hosted the Perpetual Imperial Diet (Immerwährender Reichstag) – a unique institution of European diplomacy. Today, the building combines Gothic and Baroque elements and houses a museum that offers guided tours through the historic council chamber, courtroom, prison cells and interrogation room. The Altes Rathaus complex is accessible via guided tours which generally run between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with extended hours to 5:00 PM in the peak season (April–October). Tours commonly start at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30, 14:00, 15:00 and 15:30. Guided tours are usually conducted in German—English tours are available by prior arrangement through the local tourist office.

Beautiful historical old town worth visiting. If you have only one day to visit the city, make sure you spare one hour for a river cruise. We had a fun 45-minute boat trip with some drinks, food, and beautiful views.
Liz — Google review
the 400 dating rathaus maybe older. a very good english guided tour and the guide is funny, well informed and gave clear informations about the building. you will start from the counsel room of the 7 leaders till the meeting room and then the great ceremony Hall. you will then get downstairs to the dark side of the building with well preserved interogation rooms and tools with prison cells and the canons in the backyard market. interesting tour for the whole family. entrance os 7.5€ and duration around 1 - 1.20.
David A — Google review
We visited on friday, while there were wedding parties going on, so we couldn’t tour the whole townhall. We saw only the cellars with the torture chambers, despite that the tour was amazing and the tour guide very kind and friendly. There is an english tour at 14:00, however audio guides are available for every tour at the information centre.

The spacious and comfortable boat ensures a relaxing journey, especially while navigating the narrowest sections of the gorge. Guests can enjoy engaging bilingual commentary throughout the trip, enhancing their understanding of the breathtaking surroundings.
Park in the Altstadt free of charge for up to 2 hours with a parking disk displayed, or use on of the chargeable carparks near the boat. Boat was big and comfortable, and quiet, one of the conditions when going through the narrowest part of the Danube gorge. Interesting bi-lingual commentary. Food and drinks available on board, you can book a return trip, disembark at the Abbey and take the next boat back, the abbey is 400 m walking distance. Glass of Softdrinks lack fizz/bubbles. Enjoyable trip, fair price.
Sibylle T — Google review
Easy to find and huge parking close to the ship makes an easy start into adventure. All people are checked for vaccination or covid test. Family ticket both ways was 35 euros in total which is a real bargain. I recommend once you board to order a glass of prosecco on the top level and take some photos. With the view of Liberation Hall it will be a highlight of your social profile. Your trip with the ship will be accompanied by short stories about objects and places on both sides of the Danube told in both German and English language. Menu on the ship is not extended, but very well suited for sunny short trip. Staff is very pleasant and quick which makes ordering fast and efficient.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Orgelmuseum (formerly Franziskanerkirche) in Kelheim offers fascinating insights into the construction and sound of organs. With its impressive exhibits, it comes highly recommended for a visit. The museum showcases the art of organ building and provides a unique opportunity to appreciate the beautiful tones produced by these instruments. The warm welcome from dedicated volunteers adds to the overall experience, making it an exceptional destination for anyone interested in this musical heritage.

(Translated by Google) The collection is nice, but there are organs on display in a sacred building, the sound of which is guaranteed to be great and then you can only listen to the instruments using an audiophone. Bruchsal or all the museums in the Black Forest that are explicitly dedicated to the organ can be heard there in real life. You can become a virtuoso yourself either by inserting coins or with barrel organs, for example. And that is a difference. I really miss that here.

(Translated by Google) Very successful exhibition on the subject of the “organ” as an instrument and in relation to music. A good way has been found to avoid detailed knowledge and to outline a broad arc in the development of the instrument and its music. Music is presented in abundance through an audio guide and the theoretically presented examples are supplemented. In one room there is a child-friendly corner for painting. In another room there are sounding mechanics to try out and understand how they work. In one room you can have films on specific topics played. In summary, I found everything here for an instrument that I would have wanted in the large musical instrument museums. It should be added: the museum does not have a cafe and is not accessible to people with walking disabilities.

Weltenburg Abbey

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled along the picturesque Danube Gorge, Weltenburg Abbey is a historical gem that dates back to the 600s, making it one of Germany's oldest monasteries. Founded by Celtic missionaries, this enchanting site not only boasts stunning architecture but also houses what is believed to be the world's oldest operating brewery, established in 1050.
Beautiful Abbey and delicious food! Take a relaxing boat ride down the Danube and visit the oldest monastic brewery in the world (2nd oldest brewery overall but the oldest owned by monks)! Wonderful walking paths and beautiful sights to see.

The Abbey itself is stunning! We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds, especially down on the banks of the Danube river. Too bad the beer garden is so crowded and the beer itself was not the best monk beer we have had in Germany by far. Overall, glad we stopped by for the gorgeous scenery.
Deanna W — Google review
Everything was good except for the small museum where all the text was available only in German. Cool to buy some beers from the oldest still active abbey brewery! The church was fantastic but you were not allowed to take any pictures in there. Don’t miss the architect who made a copy of himself looking down from the ceiling!

Bavarian restaurant
Hotel
Nestled in the picturesque old town of Kelheim, Gasthof Weißes Lamm is a charming inn housed in a historic building dating back to the 1890s. This family-run establishment has been serving guests for generations and offers simple yet comfortable accommodations along with a complimentary breakfast. The highlight here is undoubtedly the Bavarian restaurant, where food enthusiasts can indulge in traditional dishes crafted from homemade, regional ingredients that celebrate seasonal flavors.
There were four of us on a cycling holiday. The hotel has safe storage in a large garage. This was well used by the many cycling guests. We stayed in a recently renovate block which was smart, modern and in good condition. We spent two nights. We ate in the hotel restaurant and enjoyed good traditional German food. The restaurant is closed Sunday evening and we went out to one of the local restaurants instead. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We visited the restaurant part of this hotel & restaurant place as part of a group of about 30 people. Service was quick in taking up the orders - and friendly. The ordered food didn't take a long time to get prepared and arrived hot on the table. The Cordon Bleu that we had was pretty good, the fries were a bit dry but generally okay as a side dish. In addition to the small pack of Ketchup you could also get more Ketchup/Mayonnaise upon request. Prices were very reasonable. Location wise, the place is in the old town of Kelheim and only a short walk away from the big parking lot at the boat dock where we had arrived by boat. For summer, there is spacious outside seating with plenty of sunshades or glass roofs. Bathrooms were clean and equipped with the typical amenities. Generally, this was quite decent for our lunch and there was not a lot to complain about.

(Translated by Google) Bavaria had been our springboard to Italy until then. A five-day visit to Kehlheim was supposed to change that. As we often do, we were looking for a restaurant away from the hustle and bustle. And we found the Gasthaus Stockhammer. We ended up going there four evenings in a row, and we experienced firsthand how a family business apparently survives several generations. The boss – an approachable older lady – was recognizable within seconds. She still had a habit of asking each table if everything was as it should be. She made her rounds, and if they were locals, a conversation at the table would last for minutes. Even we, at the kids' table right next to the bar, like an eagle's nest with the necessary overview, were able to gain her attention, and a brief, lively exchange ensued. The meal was – and this was her pride and joy – cooked by her son, who had already worked at fine restaurants. And this was immediately apparent from the first dish. In short: regional cuisine, but decorated like an initial on a witty text. Solid, tasty, no overflowing plates, full of ideas and pizzazz. A fine knife! The chef not only knows the ingredients, he mixes them together with culinary skill. The two waitresses filled the room with calm and serenity, avoiding the dreadful, hectic movements, even though it was rather busy. They always had a cheerful eye and the necessary composure. We enjoyed it very much, especially at the kids' table, and we'll be back next year.

(Translated by Google) We went there for dinner and were lucky to get a table. The senior chef kindly asked if we could sit down. Conversation beforehand was very much appreciated. The meal itself was fantastic. The best, because it was a real Wiener Schnitzel (not just any old style!!), I've ever had. My wife had asparagus with char and a !homemade! hollandaise sauce to smother it in. For dessert, we had a delicious Bavarian cream. We were so hungry, we unfortunately forgot to take pictures. The prices are reasonable for the quality, portions, and, above all, the taste. If we're ever in Kelheim again, we'll eat there. We didn't have a reservation, but I would definitely recommend it.

Mentioned on
+1 other list
Restaurant
Bavarian restaurant
Weisses Bräuhaus Kelheim is a historic microbrewery and restaurant known for producing Bavarian wheat beer since the 17th century. The vaulted ceilings and leafy patio create a charming atmosphere for enjoying hearty Bavarian cuisine and their famous brews. The friendly and attentive staff ensure a pleasant dining experience, while the barrierefrei facilities make it accessible to all guests. Diners can savor exquisite dishes, such as trout with vegetables, served by the accommodating service team.
As it says on the restaurant's official website, "The Weisses Bräuhaus in Kelheim is the oldest wheat beer brewery in Bavaria. Weissbier has been brewed in the historic vaults of the Weisses Bräuhaus since the beginning of the 17th century." This was not the reason why I stopped to eat here, but simply hunger. I ordered trout with vegetables and it was an inspired choice. It was one of the best cooked trout portas I have eaten (and I eat fish whenever possible). The vegetables contributed decisively to the success of this dish: incredibly good, full of taste, authentic! I can only appreciate this food with maximum points. Then I had an Apfelstrudel, also very tasty. It must be said that the staff, the waitresses, were very kind, present, attentive. The summer garden is spacious, roomy, a relaxing and pleasant space. Finally, the prices are decent.
Daniel W — Google review
We visited Weisses Bräuhaus for lunch and had an absolutely fantastic experience. This place is not only a restaurant but also the oldest Weissbier brewery in Bavaria, with roots dating back to 1607, which adds an extra charm to the visit. We sat in the cozy beer garden, but I also peeked inside and was impressed by the stunning historical interior with its vaulted ceilings and authentic Bavarian atmosphere. The service was excellent – the staff, dressed in traditional costumes, were both professional and welcoming. The food was outstanding: the veal liver was probably the best I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The pork knuckle was just as impressive, with crispy skin and juicy, tender meat, while the chicken in lemon sauce was fresh and perfectly balanced. Weisses Bräuhaus combines unique history, authentic atmosphere, top-quality Bavarian cuisine, and its own famous Weissbier – a place I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Kelheim.

Avoid this place! The owner treated us extremely impolitely and unprofessionally, they only accept cash, they have nothing of what is in the menu, the menu is not in English, the food (what they have, because they had 3 up to 7 options we asked for) is soooo mediocre! A nightmare! When we asked to speak with the manager as we did not have cash and nobody informed us in advance,he refused to talk and send a waiter (she was really kind,at last!)to let us know he didn't have time. Then we went to pay and he was there, telling me that in Italy nobody speaks German with him!But we asked a menu in English and TAP water, they served water that made us pay and again nobody told us about the payment cash only. It's a shame!!Never more!! Learn how to treat your customers!! And you lost 20+ customers as tomorrow we were supposed to come here with our tour group!!🤣

Very nice restaurant and bar in an awesome location/ venue in Kelheim. There were many different house specials to choose from for meals, and they were all very delicious (especially the Kürbissuppe!). The service was alright, but it was occasionally hard to get a waiter’s attention. Parking is available in the back, and they only accept cash.

The hotel situated above Café am Donautor offers spacious accommodations with a pleasant outlook. The complimentary breakfast is exceptional, although guests suggest the inclusion of (sparkling) water as a healthier alternative to orange juice. Many patrons visit primarily for this meal. The WiFi connection is reliable, and there is a dedicated workspace in each room. However, it should be noted that the pricing is quite high for a stay here. The rooms are tidy and cozy with attractive vistas.
Perfect location, in the middle of the old town. Very nice room, all was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was cool.

Clean warm rooms. Ours had a lovely view. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. Back entrance to guest rooms a little unusual, walking through area used by staff during their breaks. No kettle in the room. Watch out with parking, traffic wardens cruising the streets around the building. Free parking not too far. I can highly recommend this place.

We stayed in the hotel above the restaurant/bakery/cake shop. We had a really big room. The included breakfast is pretty spectacular, but I wish there'd been (sparkling) water on the table too as a healthier alternative to orange juice. More people seemed to visit this place solely for the breakfast. WiFi worked quite well and we had a desk in the room. But it's very pricy to stay here!

Nice hotel in a good location in very likeable small-town Kelheim. Excellent parking. Spacious clean rooms, nice showers, separate toilet. Even a small fridge. I'd give it 4.5 stars for the absence of a kettle in the room which would be much appreciated. Nice soccer tables near reception, but we couldn't find balls so couldn't have a go.
Karl R — Google review
I stayed there for 3 nights in July. Unfortunately I received the worst service from the receptionist ever. We we checked-in, we found one female socks under the table, I went to the reception and reported that very politely to a guy at reception, and all he said was: "OK". I said probably the cleaning staff didn't probably clean properly, and he said: "Yes, Maybe" and didn't even look at me while he was typing something in his computer. I waited for him to ask me the room number, and since he didn't ask, I told him: "Do you want to know the room number?" He just said: "OK, yeah" ... It was very strange behaviour, I understand these things may happen in hotels but he didn't even apologised.for that.. I still think he (or the hotel) owe me an apology ... I don't recommend this hotel if you expect a civilised behaviour from the receptionists...
Farshad — Google review
If your coming from road that's parallel to the Danube River. Once you're approaching the clock tower with arch, stop and dont pass through the arch. Make a left instead. That's where the reception is. I want to take the male housekeeper who helped me with the steps to get our stroller through the hallway. Although I wish the frontdesk would've assigned us to the room that won't pass the steps or hallway that has ramp for more accessibility. Awesome fridge with drinks. Beddings are good. I have the view of downtown Kelheim. My room was pleasant. Toilet and shower are separate. I like their floor and rainfall shower head. The over all vibe remind me of hot topic store in US. They have courtyard with fountain. The breakfast area is near elevator that's close to front of Building. It is also 3 minute walk from reception desk to bus stop. It is 5 minute walk to tourist information desk.

Beer garden
Klosterschenke Weltenburg is a must-visit destination in Germany, especially for those traveling in Bavaria. The location offers amazing views and a charming atmosphere. The food is delicious, with highlights such as the smoked trout and the delectable asamtorte dessert. While some found the pricing to be on the higher side, the quality of both food and service was exceptional.
Food was delicious. The smoked trout was most and flavorful, and while the sauerbraten was a little dry, it still tasted great. The asamtorte might be the best or second best dessert I've ever had in my life. The raspberry tart was also very good. Love the atmosphere here too. Don't just come for the food; come for the meadow behind the monastery, the river, or the trails across the river.
Jacob G — Google review
A visit to the Weltenburg monastery tavern with its lovely chestnut-lined beer garden is highly suggested as the perfect end to an excursion that includes a boat trip, hike, and sightseeing. It's very busy during the day at lunchtime; after 5:00 p.m., it's quieter, and it's easier to find a nice table. We came here as a group, found a seat quickly, and the service was particularly friendly and helpful. The regional Bavarian food was delicious and generously portioned, the fresh monastery beer is the best, and the prices are fair. The atmosphere is top-notch down to earth.

The location is amazing, the food is great as is the beer. My only real gripe was the pricing of the food. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a tourist destination and as such I expect higher prices. That being said though the portions were so much smaller than other places we visited, however the quality is quite high. Definitely among the better food we tried in Bavaria and the beer garden is great. Service was exceptional. Definitely is a must see and do while traveling in Germany.

The pfanzerl with speatzle was tasty although the schnitzel could have been better especially for a bier garten. Big portions, you won’t go hungry. Nice area, so it’s good to eat here sth if you don’t have super high expectations.

We visited here Saturday 10th October 2020, we did a 20km circular walk through woodland either side of the Danube to get here and back to Kelheim. However other options would obviously include driving or nicer would be to catch a boat from Kelheim. The Kloster occupies a beautiful location on a bend in the Danube with stunning towering rock cliffs and woodland, it's really beautiful. I understand that at this time the church is closed to visitors owing to COVID-19 and so we just had a beer and some soup at the restaurant and bar within the courtyard. Despite the incessant rain today the seating area was mostly covered and overhead heaters provided some warmth. The beer (we had an Asam Bock and a Hefe-Weisse) was excellent, the potato soup was very nice but served in a tiny bowl which really was a little insulating, we had to request for bread to go with it which was an extra and was served, one slice each, with no butter or margarine. The shop across the courtyard and the kiosk to the side of this outside area were both really tacky, however you could pick up beers, glassware and other beer related merchandise from the latter. In conclusion, fabulous beer and location but let down badly with food and tacky money making opportunities elsewhere.

(Translated by Google) It was my first time at Piccolo as I was visiting. I was greeted by a very friendly and nice waitress and asked to come to the table. Then the menu came straight away and after a few minutes the drinks were taken. Then the starter and the main course. For the starter: cucumber salad with house dressing, very fresh and the dressing was very tasty and recommended! For the main course: Burito with seafood and onions and peppers, Mexican in taste and definitely a recommendation. Very tasty and a bit spicy so if you like it then go for the Burito Gambas. Conclusion: Great praise to the kitchen because they exceeded all expectations on the plates and prepared the dishes with a lot of passion. Another thank you to the super friendly service, it was very pleasant and you felt comfortable and looked after as a guest. It's a shame that there are only 5 stars, I would have liked to have given more. 10 stars!!! Thank you, I will pay the Piccolo team a visit again. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The meat in the quesadilla was overseasoned, the cheese cold and just placed on the side. When I pointed this out, I received the response: "That's what happens when you eat Mexican food for the first time" – and we eat Mexican food regularly, partly due to our South American family background and many stays in the US. This reaction to a legitimate complaint was completely unacceptable to us. It seemed to me as if the meat and salad weren't fresh, therefore they were heavily seasoned, and the salad was drowned in dressing. Note for the chef for future quesadillas: Two tortilla flats (usually made of corn or wheat) are filled with cheese and then heated until the cheese melts! The seasoning was reminiscent of gyros, not even remotely Tex-Mex, and certainly not Mexican. A disaster and health concerns, so the dish was not eaten. Neither the taste nor the customer service were convincing. I wouldn't recommend it! An absolute disgrace for €17. Keine Empfehlung ! Für 17€ eine absolute Frechheit.

(Translated by Google) The pizza has become about 30 percent smaller. It's a pity that one of the most delicious pizzerias Kelheim has started to do this. Although the price has remained the same. It's still delicious, but the aftertaste remains (Original) Sorry, arrived midday on a Friday and had to wait 90! minutes after landing until baggage claim for my flight started to even operate. This is even worse than BER 😅. I think they took a collective lunch brake. One Star because the airport announced imrge estimated baggage ckaim time. Dared restrooms have been mentioned in other reviews.

Dirty toilets. Overpriced and poor quality food and drinks. Paid extra for priority boarding but there was only one queue so complete waste of money. Poor communication regarding the delayed flight (1 hour 30 minutes). Staff rude and unhelpful.

I like the small size of this cosy airport. Security staff was relaxed on a Sunday morning, though apparently lacking protocol for baby carriers and attached car seats. Fair. Seats are comfy, and the stores do have some good choice despite their small size. You could do some “shopping” of you're up for it. But one thing drags the whole experience down: it was filthy. Dunno whether they didn't come around to clean floors and seats after the probably buy Saturday, but it wasn't nice. Especially the children playground was collecting some old dust. Yuck.

Nice GA airport with friendly tower and ground staff. The airport has its own subway that takes you to the city center in 20 minutes. Landing fee for piper arrow with 2 days parking only 66 Euros.

Nuremberg Airport… …I was total-lii astonished by the sheer size of this airport! For one or other reason I thought that this was just a small two building structure but it turned out to be a full-on functional airport. They even have duty free shopping available. What was real-lii nice was the fact that you can walk out of the airport and straight onto the Metro Rail station where the trains run on time every time…

Personally, I would not recommend flying with Ryanair from this airport due to the unprofessional and unaccommodating behaviour of their ground staff. They seem more focused on inventing reasons to impose additional charges rather than assisting passengers. I only wish they would channel that same level of creativity into showing empathy instead.

Great airport for moving around is very easy. Terminal 1 very conveniently connected to Terminal 2. Security check - extremely quick and no more needed liquid removals. Very convenient. Airport is spacious, very clean, comfortable to move. Space and very clean design makes you feel welcomed and excited again and again to return to this airport. Very good staff support - people are straight and do not waste your time. Lufthansa’s home. Place I love to return again and again

Signage are clear, immigration officer are polite. This airport is much better organized than Frankfurt. It’s also clean and quite not feeling overcrowded. Toilets are clean. However, some gates like G are really too small, very limited seat for passenger waiting flights. The number of seat is less than the capacity of a small airplane but there are big wide bodies here…..

Munich Airport is one of the nicest airports I’ve ever traveled through. The entire place is spotless, modern, and thoughtfully designed, making it a pleasure to spend time here whether you’re arriving or waiting for a flight. The terminal is full of high-quality shops that make the airport feel more like a high-end mall than just a travel hub. From duty-free to premium boutiques, there’s truly something for everyone. What really stood out to me was the Rolex store – not something you see in every airport, and it gives the place a very upscale feel. Beyond the shopping, the airport is easy to navigate, the signage is clear, and security is handled efficiently without long waits. I also appreciated the spacious layout and natural light, which made the whole experience relaxing. Overall, Munich Airport sets a high standard for cleanliness, comfort, and amenities. A world-class travel experience.

Munich International Airport is overall a good airport with efficient services and helpful staff. However, Terminal 1 feels quite old and outdated — it could use some upgrades to match modern standards. Terminal 2, on the other hand, is excellent: clean, bright, and well-organized, with plenty of food and shopping options. Overall, a pleasant experience, especially if you’re flying through Terminal 2.

For a sense of comparison I'm comparing this against other airports in Germany and arguably other large hubs. it didn't come close to meeting expectations so here are some things to consider especially if you are flying to the United States. The good, entering the international terminal and passport control was very quick, certain country passports qualify for automated service. Past that it kinda goes downhill. More options to buy high end purses that food, even the little magazine stand/snack stores have limited options. If you want chocolate you're in luck, much if anything else forget it. Long corridors to flights and even restrooms are widely spaced apart. If this was a short layover flight maybe not so bad? 6 hour layover, not good. Entire place seems far below Frankfurt or even Stuttgart. At least it wasn't crowded.

Munich Airport is by far one of the best airports I’ve ever traveled through. The entire experience was smooth, efficient, and genuinely enjoyable. From the moment I arrived, everything was well-organized, clean, and clearly signposted. Security checks were fast and professional, with friendly staff ensuring everything moved quickly. The terminals are modern and spacious, offering plenty of comfortable seating and natural light, which makes even long layovers pleasant. One of the standout features is the wide range of shopping and dining options – including several halal food choices, which was a huge plus. There are also relaxation areas, children’s play zones, and even a visitor park if you have extra time. Overall, Munich Airport sets a high standard for international travel – clean, efficient, and traveler-friendly in every way. Highly recommended!"

Terminal 2 has quick and easy security and separate fast track for security for business and first class passengers. Lounges are found in both the main terminal and the satellite. There was a little chaos when drones caused evening flights to be cancelled, but the airport provided a many passengers with camp beds as nearby hotels filled quickly. There could have been more staff on to help as different instructions were given on the plate, at the gate and at the service centre. But in general my experience was very positive.
