Beautiful Abbey and delicious food! Take a relaxing boat ride down the Danube and visit the oldest monastic brewery in the world (2nd oldest brewery overall but the oldest owned by monks)! Wonderful walking paths and beautiful sights to see.
Good to visit both by ship - picturesque views of the Danube river. With car - there is a parking near. A part of Nature 2000. A very beautiful Church. There is also a museum. Delicious food. A bit crowded on weekends. I would recommend visiting on weekdays. Don’t forget the bathing suits.
A very nice place to visit (do take the river cruise there, for the scenery is great). Beautiful location. The brewery tour is good and our guide was amazingly down-to-earth informative.
Lucky to have been introduced to this place by a colleague. It's a bit hard to get here by public transportation. Beautiful place, exquisite views with one of the best draft beer i have had in Europe (or maybe i was just tired after the hike 🤪). Definitely visit this place if you can!
Wonderful place to go on a boat trip through the river. Beautiful views with a fresh breeze make an amazing afternoon. They are always making round trips with several stops to drop off/pick up passages and cyclists. Pet friendly and can be paid in the spot. Totally recommend!
The best tour guide ever. Gave a fantastic explanation of the church an absolute font of knowledge. Then had a beer and back on the boat.
The Abbey itself is stunning! We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds, especially down on the banks of the Danube river. Too bad the beer garden is so crowded and the beer itself was not the best monk beer we have had in Germany by far. Overall, glad we stopped by for the gorgeous scenery.
Everything was good except for the small museum where all the text was available only in German. Cool to buy some beers from the oldest still active abbey brewery! The church was fantastic but you were not allowed to take any pictures in there. Don’t miss the architect who made a copy of himself looking down from the ceiling!

Amazing sightseeing, peaceful area. The roundtrip ticket price for the ship was 19.5 euro, but it worth it. During the excursion, they give nice details about the river and places around it in english and german. Just relax order a drink and enjoy the moments.
By boat there is another feeling... you can see directly how much water worked in the past to realise this wonderful National Park. Many colours around, up and down you... so many green trees, blue or darker water, white grey cliffs, pink or yellow flowers... fantastic place!
Get a drink, sit, relax and enjoy the quiet ride.
Beautiful place and highly recommend a boat ride

On our winter road trip to Berlin, we made a delightful stop in Kelheim! Despite the chilly December day and gentle snowfall, the exterior of the Liberation Hall took our breath away. Its impressive size and beautifully sculptured walls were truly captivating. We have very peaceful moments while admiring the structure. A perfect little gem to explore on the way! ❄️🏛️❤️
This building is inside really huge! Really nice view outside and stunning inside! If you have chance, visit this place! Near parking is great and is ready for any size of car. Nice clean toilets. Nice view from the bistro.
It's lovely inside, but mainly it is in German. So I could only use Google translate and also read up online to understand it. The walk up to the top of the dome is a very narrow stairs but the view up in the dome is superb. Giving a 4 stars, cos I couldn't understand German.
This place is impressive. It’s a gigantic hall where you feel like a tiny person. The main hall was spectacular and huge. I’ve never seen something this big before. It was a bit scary to feel so little. You can also climb at the top to get a view over the horizons. The climb isn’t easy and the stairs are narrow but it is worth it for the view. The park around the monument is also pleasant to have a walk. It’s quiet and peaceful.
Wonderful architecture and views from the top. Restaurant next to the ticket office. It wasn't crowded and if you take your own food/drinks you can have a picnic and enjoy the sun.
A great place to visit, even though it doesn’t feature any special exhibitions or temporary displays. The surrounding area is very attractive. However, we were disappointed to find that both of the shortest walking routes to the Danube River were closed, without any clear reason.
Really cool monument. Typical of mid 19th century early German nationalism. Great views of the Danube.
This place can be a lot of work to get to if you park at the bottom however it felt great making it all the way to the top! Lucky for me the rain held off and was a good hike. Inside the liberation hall which you have to pay to enter just go to the visitor center. But it has some gorgeous views from the top! Definitely a must! Lots of history marked in here.

Perfect location, in the middle of the old town. Very nice room, all was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was cool.
I love this bakery café. It's my favorite in the area. My wedding cake was made by them. It was so Beautiful...really pretty...and absolutely delicious. Everyone here is so nice, also.
Clean warm rooms. Ours had a lovely view. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. Back entrance to guest rooms a little unusual, walking through area used by staff during their breaks. No kettle in the room. Watch out with parking, traffic wardens cruising the streets around the building. Free parking not too far. I can highly recommend this place.
Great experience with the staff of this hotel and restaurant. They are very kind and helpful. Excellent breakfast and home made cakes . We felt like home. Thank you
We stayed in the hotel above the restaurant/bakery/cake shop. We had a really big room. The included breakfast is pretty spectacular, but I wish there'd been (sparkling) water on the table too as a healthier alternative to orange juice. More people seemed to visit this place solely for the breakfast. WiFi worked quite well and we had a desk in the room. But it's very pricy to stay here!
Very nice and familiar place in the center of Kelheim. The staff is very friendly and helpful . The rooms are very clean and warm and the breakfast is excellent . Good location when traveling for business or holidays.
The breakfast here was the best its family owned and everybody is friendly and nice.
The beer was warm, and we ask for two limonades and they bring us Sprite.

A beautiful city gate from the 14th century and with a fresco
The Mittertor is one of Kelheim’s three medieval city gates, originally constructed in the 13th century as part of the town’s fortifications. This defensive tower once featured a saddle-shaped roof; in the early 19th century it was rebuilt with a tent-style roof, similar to those on the other gates. A striking feature of the Mittertor is the fresco painted on the inner side of the tower in 1904 by Georg Lickleder. It commemorates local butcher Matthias Kraus, who led a revolt against Austrian occupiers on December 12, 1705. The original painting is now preserved in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.
(Translated by Google) Through the middle gate, the tour leads back to the old city. The fortified tower built in the 14th century originally had a pitched roof. From the outside, it was a vestibule until 1869. A mural was attached to the inside of the city gate in 1904, which represents the capture of the Austrian occupation by the owner of the butcher Kraus on December 12, 1705. The original painting is in the National Museum in Munich (Original) Prostřednictvím střední brány vede turné zpět do starého města. Awesome tour! I attended the German tour at 1200, and used a device that gave English translations at each stop. There is an English tour available at 1400, but I didn’t have time to wait for that one. Very awesome experience and beautiful scenes to witness in person. I highly recommend to all history lovers to attend this tour. Well worth the 7.5 Euro.
Rathaus is one of the most historically significant buildings in Regensburg. With its origins dating back to the 13th century, it served not only as the seat of the city council, but also as a key political centre of the Holy Roman Empire. From 1663 to 1806, its Reichssaal hosted the Perpetual Imperial Diet (Immerwährender Reichstag) – a unique institution of European diplomacy. Today, the building combines Gothic and Baroque elements and houses a museum that offers guided tours through the historic council chamber, courtroom, prison cells and interrogation room. The Altes Rathaus complex is accessible via guided tours which generally run between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with extended hours to 5:00 PM in the peak season (April–October). Tours commonly start at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30, 14:00, 15:00 and 15:30. Guided tours are usually conducted in German—English tours are available by prior arrangement through the local tourist office.
Excellent choice for fun and food. Served was top notch! A perfect choice for beverages and authentic German food.
Old Town Hall Area is very nice and worth visiting. One should have complete day to explore this area. It is full of Restaurants and Cafes. Each building is worth viewing. Number of roads crosses through buildings which gives a beautiful look. Very attractive place for tourists to visit.
Such an amazing guide and guidance we had! I had the luck to be right on time for the English tour (14:00)! Charlotte was very nice and knowledgeable, made the experience a very entertaining one! I highly recommend this Museum!
Beautiful historical old town worth visiting. If you have only one day to visit the city, make sure you spare one hour for a river cruise. We had a fun 45-minute boat trip with some drinks, food, and beautiful views.
the 400 dating rathaus maybe older. a very good english guided tour and the guide is funny, well informed and gave clear informations about the building. you will start from the counsel room of the 7 leaders till the meeting room and then the great ceremony Hall. you will then get downstairs to the dark side of the building with well preserved interogation rooms and tools with prison cells and the canons in the backyard market. interesting tour for the whole family. entrance os 7.5€ and duration around 1 - 1.20.
We visited on friday, while there were wedding parties going on, so we couldn’t tour the whole townhall. We saw only the cellars with the torture chambers, despite that the tour was amazing and the tour guide very kind and friendly. There is an english tour at 14:00, however audio guides are available for every tour at the information centre.

Stunning church, well worth a visit
Beautiful example of a Baroque and Rococo interior. The organist was practising Danse Macabre which lent a special atmosphere to the place as we walked around.
Gotic church that shows all attributes of its time. Rich gold work, colourful windows, lots of painting within the cleaan white of the walls.
Mesmerizing church! I have a mixed feeling here when seeing the name of troops participated in 2 WWs.
One of the most beautiful interior of churches I have ever visited!

(Translated by Google) The collection is nice, but there are organs on display in a sacred building, the sound of which is guaranteed to be great and then you can only listen to the instruments using an audiophone. Bruchsal or all the museums in the Black Forest that are explicitly dedicated to the organ can be heard there in real life. You can become a virtuoso yourself either by inserting coins or with barrel organs, for example. And that is a difference. I really miss that here.

(Translated by Google) Very successful exhibition on the subject of the “organ” as an instrument and in relation to music. A good way has been found to avoid detailed knowledge and to outline a broad arc in the development of the instrument and its music. Music is presented in abundance through an audio guide and the theoretically presented examples are supplemented. In one room there is a child-friendly corner for painting. In another room there are sounding mechanics to try out and understand how they work. In one room you can have films on specific topics played. In summary, I found everything here for an instrument that I would have wanted in the large musical instrument museums. It should be added: the museum does not have a cafe and is not accessible to people with walking disabilities.

(Translated by Google) Nice but you don't understand much. The clerk didn't explain to us well. (Original) Bello ma non si capisce molto. L'addetta non ci ha spiegato bene.
(Translated by Google) Very interesting. Unfortunately we only had 1 hour as the museum closed at 5pm. (Original) Sehr interessant.

(Translated by Google) You can look at the foundation walls of a small Roman fort. Or just relax and have a picnic.
(Translated by Google) A very small Roman fort that was probably used at the beginning and end of the Roman occupation. Located on the edge of the plateau, it was easier to defend. You don't see much. During the reconstruction, the outlines were made visible through walls about 30cm high. The view of the valley is impaired by trees and bushes.
(Translated by Google) Not a small Roman fort, but a medieval palatinate complex. At least that's what it says on the new notice board. (Original) Kein römisches Kleinkastell, sondern eine mittelalterliche Pfalzanlage. Steht zumindest so auf der neuen Hinweistafel.
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, only a few foundation walls remain here. But the view of the Danube from up here is simply breathtaking. 👍👍📸
(Translated by Google) There isn't much to see, yes, but it's still a nice place to stay and take a walk. But if you read a little bit into late Roman - Germanic history, the whole thing becomes much more interesting. Then you should have seen this fort before.
(Translated by Google) Great view, very interesting! (Original) Tolle Aussicht, sehr interessant!
