Koriyama City Fureai Science Museum Space Park

Science museum
Museums
Koriyama City Fureai Science Museum Space Park is a space-themed museum located between the 20th and 24th floors of the Koriyama Big-I building. It features model rockets, flight simulators, and a planetarium with 234 seats inside a dome that's visible from outside. The museum offers engaging exhibits on astronomy and space, including an observation deck with panoramic views of the city. Visitors can also enjoy workshops led by local artisans and learn about earthquakes.
A science center with a view from Koriyama tallest building by a huge measure. You have an entire view over the shinkansen tracks which is a must for rail fans. The science centre focuses on astronomy and space with pretty interesting exhibits! When we were there, there wasn't much visitors hence we accessed all the exhibits with ease. We even had a mini lesson on earthquake. The main lift going up is also nicely animated as if you are going up to space.
Rtexal T — Google review
An interactive science space indoor exhibition with an observatory deck on the 22nd floor. Even entering the lift was a special experience for my kid. The lift had sound effects and light effects that makes you feel you're entering a space ship. Once you've reached the 22nd floor, you can see the Koriyama from above. There's also miniatures, and educational games that my daughter enjoyed playing. All this was free, I think you need to pay only when you decide to enter the floor below and planetarium theatre.
Astari M — Google review
I think this museum was really interesting and fun to go to on a date or with kids. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because you have to pay 400 yen to go into the downstairs exhibit area and then pay another 400 yen to watch the dome shows for each show. The prices don't explain it very well, so my trip was 1600 yen instead of the 800 yen expected. I went with my husband, so the process reflect that. I was hoping to watch 3 of the 4 shows, but we choose to only watch the one because we would have to pay 1600 yen more. But I tried the Triple spin, which was fun and very forceful feeling against gravity, not like a roller coaster feeling at all! Also in the exhibit area, try the space shuttle ride! It's a game, like old school Star Fox with its spaceship graphics! Make sure to get their first in line and get the front middle seats for a chance to play! Also the mural in the kids play area is from the Japanese artist, Leiji Matsumoto, who worked on the art featured in some of Daft Punk's famous music.

Happy to go inside and learn and explore the universe.I must recommend Kids to go here and learn something new.And this Museum holds the highest space museum by Guiness World of records.

You can enjoy the city view and the shinkansen from up there, and they have a train miniature. Love it
Nurlaila C — Google review
There are interesting experiences for kids and adults here. Wearing easy exercise clothes to enjoy them!
Huyen V — Google review
Excellent place to take the kids. There is a harness for simulated space walking and loads of fun ways for them to learn about physics. Parking is a nightmare, if you come by car, but access from the train station is very easy

Nature & Parks
Park
Kaiseizan Park is a stunning destination that beautifully showcases the changing seasons, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and families alike. Established during the Meiji Era, this expansive park features over 1,300 cherry trees that create a breathtaking spectacle in spring when they bloom along the pathways. The park also boasts a serene lake and various athletic stadiums, providing ample opportunities for recreation.
Excellent park all around and it is adorned with Pokemon!! I was here when sakura was in full bloom but was raining. So the minus is the rain but the plus is it was literally empty, so taking an umbrella to enjoy the sakura alone is mesmerizing! Plus the rain drops make for wonferful reflection photos! Definitely worth a revisit when the weather is better but all experiences are worthwhile and this is one where you have no requirements to Photoshop any one out of your pictures because simply put there is no one there to ruin you and the sakura!!
Henry C — Google review
There is also a steam locomotive on the spacious grounds. There is also a Pokemon Lucky themed park in one area, which is fun.
Youji N — Google review
Nothing much to see during late spring, but the park was relatively quiet on a weekday and there are some nice garden to view the flowers. Not worth the drive up to visit this place.
Chang T — Google review
Great park fit for everyone and all year round. Starting with Cherry blossoms in spring, Rose garden in Summer (June/July) and Autumn (October) and cozy snowfall in winter. Go alone, with your kids or your family. Just loved it.

Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Kaiseizan Daijingu Shrine, a 19th-century Shinto shrine located in the Tohoku area, is known for its seasonal cherry blossoms and a picturesque torii gate. Situated near Kaisenza Park, it offers a serene setting with a scenic red bridge over a pond. Dedicated to blessing children and agriculture, the shrine was founded by Nakajima Masatan as a spiritual refuge for pioneers in the Ansaku area.
Nice small temple in the heart of the city. Lucky us that the Sakura inside is still blooming 😊😊

(Translated by Google) I visited Kaiseiyama Daijingu, also known as the "Ise Shrine of Tohoku." There is free parking for visitors at the entrance. I went on a weekday afternoon, but didn't encounter any other visitors. The shrine was very large and felt very sacred. It seems that Shichi-Go-San ceremonies and weddings are also held there. If you're in the area, this is a spot you should definitely stop by. (Translated by Google) [October 2025] My son, who lives alone and will be attending university in Koriyama City, Fukushima, will now have his own car, so we visited the shrine to pray for road safety and purchase an amulet. The shrine building and torii gate are impressive, and the large number of pine trees was also impressive. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day we visited. When we arrived at the parking lot, a female security guard in a raincoat came to greet us in the rain. We confirmed the prayer and where to purchase the amulet. She was kind and polite! The grounds were beautiful, with well-maintained gardens. This will be my son's first car. When driving, there's a chance that you could be involved in an accident, even if it's not your fault, so I hope you always drive with safety in mind! Finally, thank you to the female security guard for your warm consideration in the rain! I hope to meet you again if the opportunity arises. (Translated by Google) This venerable shrine is also known as the "Ise Shrine of Michinoku." From Koriyama Station, take a 15-minute bus ride (280 yen) to Koriyama Women's University, then walk for about three minutes. A nearby road was under construction, so we carefully checked for safety. Across the road are Kaiseiyama Daijingu Shrine and Kaiseiyama Park. Kaiseiyama Daijingu Shrine, a branch of Ise Grand Shrine, was established as a place of prayer for those who developed the area during the Meiji period. This year (2025) marks its 150th anniversary. To mark this milestone, renovations are being carried out as part of a commemorative project. Aside from a slight noise (until October 15th) and the presence of a construction iron fence next to the worship hall, there were no particular obstacles to worship (although the sacred atmosphere was somewhat diminished). The shrine is made of Aomori cypress, and its solemn atmosphere was truly spiritually cleansing. The Koriyama City Museum of Art, which reopened in July 2018, houses an unparalleled collection of British art including works by Gainsborough, Constable, Turner, and other renowned artists. The museum also features pieces by local artists associated with Koriyama. The stunning building is set in a spacious wooded area on the outskirts of the city and includes a charming cafe. Visitors can explore the permanent collection divided into four main sections and enjoy various exhibitions throughout the year.
The place is beautiful! Designed by Takahiko Yanagisawa, I feel very calm when I was inside the building. It has massive parking spots, no need to worry. Free small lockers are available too. The temporary exhibition was great, however the permanent exhibition is not the best except 2 sculptures on the first floor. The toilet doesn’t have bidet though!

Local art museum, located to the east of Koriyama city. Beautiful grounds, a piece of art in itself, with its slate crater like steps and sculpture. Permanent exhibition with collections of 19th century British art, for example, Turner and Constable, as well as Japanese art. Rotating visiting exhibition too, currently John Paul II in March 2023.

(Translated by Google) I took the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Koriyama Station and then walked for about 40 minutes to reach the museum. The main gate is designed in a slightly frustrating way, as you can't see the entrance to the museum or the entire building from inside, but once inside, a dynamic rock garden spread out before me. The interior is also stately and spacious, and it's hard to believe it was built in 1992. This time I only viewed the permanent exhibition, but I was able to enjoy the scenery unique to a museum surrounded by greenery, with its open design, natural light streaming in through the large windows, and the view of the forest from a window along the way. The only negative aspects are the poor signal reception and the small museum shop. There is also a cafe near the entrance, although I didn't use it this time.

It's possible to walk there, but it takes 40 minutes and there are only convenience stores along the way, so I recommend going by car or bus. The attached cafe has large windows and good lighting, so it was wonderful to enjoy a leisurely coffee while gazing at the trees in the garden. ... 21st Century Memorial Park Hayama no Mori

21st Century Memorial Park Hayama no Mori, established in 2003, is a vast and well-designed park that can withstand natural disasters. The buildings are earthquake-proof and the park has a warehouse with enough water to sustain 5600 people for three days. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as gardening and Ikebana classes during the day. In early April, cherry blossoms bloom beautifully while various tulips are in full display.

(Translated by Google) Does Koriyama City have more parks than its population? Kaiseiyama Park is also within 1 km. Don't I feel the concept of coexistence and co-prosperity with the city? Trees are planted in a standard manner and concrete is used. It's full. It's certainly nice to take a walk because your feet don't get dirty, but I don't feel any charm. In my memory, this place used to be the site of a major company's factory. Koriyama City has developed as a railway base (hub) since the Meiji era. Because of the land, there is little history and culture. Although it has a history like Aizu, Shirakawa, and Nihonmatsu, Because the population to support it is small, even if it is a tourist resource, For residents living in the area, the park on the site of the castle is a lively place with lots of tourists visiting, but the current situation is that it has fallen into disrepair compared to the past. Unfortunately, this 21st Century Memorial Park is not on that level. Buildings developed under government initiative Its evolution will be questioned a few decades from now. Well, what do you think? Spring tulips are surprisingly beautiful, and you can get matcha tea and Japanese sweets at the teahouse. Cute Japanese sweets with seasonal cherry blossom petal accents have come out (in Tokyo, Hamarikyu and Rikugien are around 600 yen, so 350 yen is cheap). Nyohoji Temple

Nyohoji Temple is a beautiful and ancient temple located in the city center of Koriyama. Its foundation dates back to the year 807, making it one of the oldest temples in the area. Visitors can take a leisurely 15-minute walk from Koriyama station to reach this historic site. The temple is known for its Bato Kannon statue and main hall, where visitors can offer prayers and thanks.

When I was in middle school, my grandfather invited me to get up early, get on the bus, and visit Nanakadō on New Year's Day.My grandfather would always search for a new ``masaru'' and display it on the shrine. I look back and realize that it has been a long time since I last met you. We were also informed that the temple will be rebuilt and will be completed in the fall. Also, women were cleaning the Kannon-do Hall. Receive a set of stamps written down at the temple office. When I went to pray and stood in front of the National Treasure Hall, the audio guide started and I listened carefully. Thank you very much. (Translated by Google) I visited Nyoho-ji Temple, a Shingon sect temple in Dozen-cho, Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, to receive a written goshuin (temple seal) of the principal image of Dainichi Nyorai, the Buddha of the Buzan school of Buddhism, and the Bato Kannon statue enshrined in the Kannon Hall. Located on the central plateau of Koriyama since ancient times, this historic temple is said to have been around for over 1,000 years and is home to ancient roofing tiles from the Heian period, ancient monuments from the Kamakura period, and monuments to pioneers from the Meiji period. The history of Nyoho-ji Temple dates back to 807 (the second year of the Daido era), when Toramaru Choja, the local ruler, traveled all the way to Kyoto and was granted an audience with Emperor Heizei, who bestowed upon him a statue of Bato Kannon as the guardian Buddha of the local residents. The monk built the Kannon Hall on the site where the temple currently stands, as a guardian deity. He established a hermitage in what is now Nakamachi, Koriyama City, and invited the highly virtuous Monk Sasakune to perform a solemn eye-opening ceremony and make offerings to the public. The monk enshrined the principal image of the temple, Dainichi Nyorai, and moved his hermitage to the grounds of the Kannon Hall, where he is said to have named the temple "Nyoho-ji" and dedicated himself to protecting Kannon Bodhisattva. As mentioned earlier, the temple's ancient origins are evidenced by old roofing tiles and National Treasure monuments from the Heian and Kamakura periods, but in 1051 (Eisho 6), during the reign of Emperor Go-Reizei, Minamoto no Yoriyoshi and his son Yoshiie launched an eastern expedition to recapture the Zenkunen no War, and returned victorious in 1062 (Kohei 5). Over the course of 12 years, the town of Koriyama, where the county office was located, was also caught up in the fighting and Toramaru Choja was lost, but Kannon-do and Nyoho-ji Temple became known far and wide, and have since prospered alongside Koriyama, attracting worshippers as one of the most famous temples in the Tohoku region, to this day. It seems that the only goshuin available are written stamps depicting the Bato Kannon of the Senzu Thirty-three Kannon Temples and the Dainichi Nyorai of the Asaka Thirty-three Kannon Temples, all on a double-page spread, so it was not possible to choose just one or the other. The nearest station is Koriyama Station on the JR East Tohoku Main Line. These are displayed in the National Treasure Hall along with the bronze bell (wartless bell), which is an important art object. The stone hat pagoda was damaged in the 2021 Fukushima Prefecture earthquake and is currently under restoration, with only the base on display at the National Treasure Hall. Nanakado Mairi is a festival dedicated to Bato Kanzeon at Nyohoji Temple, which is held from January 6th to 7th every year. Originally a market where people exchanged goods from the sea and the mountains, the market has changed into a market that is now used to sell lucky charms such as ``daruma'', ``masaru'', and ``dango sashi'' dumpling trees. It is now becoming the first market to sell products. ``Masaru'' means better than last year, and daruma is a lucky charm that means seven falls and eight rises. Around 100,000 people are busy inside and outside the shrine grounds all day long, with people buying lucky charms after their pilgrimage. This Bato Kanzeon Bodhisattva was given to Choja Toramaru by the Emperor Heijo in the second year of Daido (807), and was regarded as the guardian Buddha of the local residents. It is said that the various wishes of the pilgrims will come true as quickly as a horse runs, and in recent years many people have come to pray for things such as a rich harvest, happiness for all people, and in recent years, traffic safety and success in passing exams. The street in front of the gate has become a pedestrian paradise, and there are more people than ever It is crowded with people. Therefore, even if Nyoho-ji Temple was founded in the second year of Daido, I believe that the temples that continue to this day were built after the Edo period. Therefore, I believe that it was the group of medieval tablets erected throughout the precincts that set the tone for the construction of this temple, and that this flow of faith led to the erection of memorial towers for the Tsukimachi faith in the early modern period. Unfortunately, although there are many medieval tablets, early modern memorial towers, and Kirishitan tombs, they are completely unorganized and scattered. For example, a board monument can be found in the exhibition shed of Kirishitan Tomb. If this kind of situation is organized and saved, I think it will receive a perfect score. Nunobiki Plateau Wind Farm

Scenic spot

Nestled in the stunning landscape of Japan, the Nunobiki Plateau Wind Farm is a breathtaking destination that offers visitors an unforgettable experience. This picturesque location boasts vibrant sunflower fields that bloom beautifully during the summer months, creating a colorful spectacle against the backdrop of majestic Mt. Bandai and serene Lake Inawashiro.
Very good place near koriyama for a day visit. There are about 35 windmills on top of the mountain. You can get a breathtaking view of inawashiro lake if weather is good. There is a viewing point nearby car park. Beat place to click photos. However it is not connected with local transport. So difficult to get there without a car/bike. If interested this can be a good location for mountain cycling. There are no any food shaks if you go off season.

(Translated by Google) This plateau lies south of Lake Inawashiro. With sunflower and cosmos fields set against the backdrop of wind turbines, it's a popular spot for photo lovers. Access is via National Route 294, passing through the village of Akazu and driving 8km up to the plateau. While there's no center line, the road is mostly one lane in each direction, making it easy. I was expecting a single lane like the access road to Takabocchi Plateau, with plenty of passing opportunities, so I was a bit disappointed. However, given the type of clientele, there were times when oncoming vehicles would come barreling toward me on a corner. 😡 There's parking for about 50 cars. It's unpaved and ungraveled, so it's quite dusty. I visited around dusk to take starry sky photos, so I was able to find a parking spot easily, but during the day, I imagine people park on the side of the road. The wrecked cars left in a really annoying position were a nuisance. The view is nice. Starry sky photography depends on the weather and the operation of the wind turbines. If clouds appear, they reflect the light from the foot of the mountain, causing light pollution, and when a wind farm is in operation, the turbine's position lights (or what appear to be them) flicker and are reflected in the light, so it really depends on your luck when you visit. Watch out for bears, but they also have blank shots going off at night to ward off bears, and in the peak season, you can hear people screaming even at 10pm, so I guess you don't need to worry about it. There are some fairly clean public toilets. However, while there was water in the evening, there was no water in the urinals or bathrooms at night, which is a mystery. For that reason, I had originally planned to sleep in my car in the parking lot here after taking pictures of the stars, but I ended up covered in dust and the toilet didn't have water, so I gave up. Also, there are a lot of black flies, so be careful not to get bitten on exposed skin. According to the website: - There is a rotation system based on the time slots. - Numbered tickets for the day are distributed starting at 9:45 AM. - It gets crowded on weekends. I saw this information! On the first Sunday, I tried going early to get a numbered ticket around 9:00 AM, and there were already about five groups waiting! However, it seemed like one in five groups received a ticket for a time slot other than the early morning slot. However, by 9:45 AM, there were about 20 groups in a line, with five or six lines forming! *It was relatively quiet on a weekday Monday, so we went right in during the time slot (afternoon) we were aiming for and were able to get in right away! There is a separate baby area, but generally people of all ages can play there. There were some parents who left their kids unattended for a while, but as long as they kept an eye on their own kids, it didn't seem like it was too dangerous. Koriyama Culture Park is a popular leisure spot spread over 21 hectares, attracting many families daily. The park offers various facilities such as an amusement park, indoor plaza, athletics, and a gymnasium. It features simple rides like roller coasters and go-karts along with a water park and pool during the summer. Visitors can enjoy the attractions without feeling overwhelmed as they are not too scary. Additionally, there is free admission to the athletic playground equipment area and ample space for parking.
Cheap and good fun for small children. Tickets never expire either.

I went to the amusement park section of the cultural park. It's a fun little park with rides that are great for little kids, or adults like me who are afraid of rides that go too fast or high. The rides are between ¥100-200, except for the roller coaster, which is ¥300. No admission fee.

Some other reviewer said this place is like Disney world on crack? B. Have you ever been to Disney world? This place is barely a carnival in a dying town. I've been here twice and each time their train had been down for maintenance. Half the rides don't even use the ticketing system. I want to like this place so much, but they make it impossible. Imagine telling your kids they can ride their favorite train, not once, but twice, just for the attendant to say duhh it's under maintenance. The best thing about this place is their tickets don't expire. Good thing for me, I bought twenty and only used two to ride a merry go round built during ww2.

I think there are plenty of rides to enjoy for pre-school children. There's also plenty of space to eat and drink, so if the weather's nice, it might be a good idea to bring a packed lunch.☀️ They also have a pool in the summer, and they occasionally hold events, so I hope they continue to keep us entertained for a long time to come.😊 (Original)

If you're on the hunt for a delightful ramen experience, look no further than 春木屋 郡山分店. This charming ramen bar specializes in serving up delicious bowls of broth that feature wontons and BBQ pork, alongside an array of noodle dishes and grilled dumplings. During my visit after admiring the stunning Miharu Takizakura Cherry Blossoms, I indulged in their wonton noodles which boasted medium-thick curly noodles with a rich dashi flavor that truly warmed my soul.

(Translated by Google) We dropped in shortly after they opened at 11am. There were already two groups seated at the counter and two at a table, so we were given menus at the entrance and ordered before sitting down. We ordered wonton noodles with soy sauce and gyoza. The wonton noodles arrived after 6-7 minutes, followed by the gyoza. ◎Noodles...They were medium-thick, curly noodles. Even though it was a regular portion, it was quite filling. ◎Soup...At first I thought it might be a bit thin, but it gradually became richer, with a sweeter, more savory flavor and a stronger umami taste from the broth. The soup was also very hot. The cooking was very careful and efficient, so I'm sure they've put a lot of thought into making sure every last drop of flavor is captured in the process. ◎Ingredients...First, the wontons. There were about eight of them, and they were smooth and had a slight ginger flavor. I thought the pork slices were large and thin, but they really had a nice meaty flavor. ◎Gyoza...They had a crispy skin and a slight garlic aroma. Is the chili oil homemade? Does it taste a little different? There's a constant stream of customers. Even though the restaurant is small, they make good use of wireless connections between the dining area and the kitchen to reduce time loss and increase turnover. And yet, from the time you enter the restaurant to the time you pay, the staff are treated with great courtesy, making for a pleasant experience. The taste is simple yet refined. Thank you for the meal.

(Translated by Google) I had the wonton noodles (salt) for 1,200 yen. It was lunchtime on a holiday, and there was no wait at 2 p.m. When I ordered, 1,200 yen for a bowl of ramen seemed a little expensive, even though it's not in the city center, but the actual amount of noodles was decent. There were also a lot of wontons, so considering the ingredients, it might be a fair price, or even a bargain. For that reason, if you're expecting a regular portion, it might be a bit of a challenge for those with small appetites. The menu also listed mini sizes, so perhaps they serve mostly basic dishes. As for the taste, it was a classic, unpretentious ramen without any gimmicks. The flavor was exactly as I imagined it would from the photo. It didn't have much punch, but the rich flavor had me eating it naturally. However, while I think it would be a good place for locals to eat regularly, I think everyone else would be better off trying other ramen shops with a more unique, local flavor. There was a bit of a fuss over the last order. Specifically, it was only a few minutes before 2pm, so I left my friend behind and went through the curtain alone. I asked, "Is it still okay? There are two other people outside," and they said, "It's okay." So then... I went outside to get my friend, but he was nowhere to be seen. I called to inquire about the situation, and was told that the staff member who came out shortly after I entered had announced, "We're closed for lunch now," as soon as he removed the curtain. Apparently, even though I had entered first and was checking, they refused, so they were reluctantly moving on to Shogatsuya next door, which was also approaching its last orders. In the end, I decided to have wonton noodles at Harukiya, but since they close before 2pm even though they weren't out of soup, it may be difficult for non-locals to make plans to go.

(Translated by Google) It's been a while since I last visited Harukiya. The soy sauce wonton noodles are 150 yen cheaper than at the Ogikubo main store. But personally, what I want to eat here is the salt wonton noodles. Even if you don't order the new Chinese food, it's delicious because the seafood and dried sardine flavor is stronger than the soy sauce soup. The medium-thick curly noodles also go well with the salt soup. Apart from the fact that there isn't much filling in the wontons, the taste is satisfactory. Koriyama is the only place in the Tohoku region where you can eat Harukiya, so it's a famous restaurant that you should definitely stop by. Considering the traffic, the second parking lot is the best, but there was nothing we could do. It was before opening time, but there were already customers eating ramen. Since we were two people, we were guided to a private room-like table in the back. We ordered Chinese noodles + green onions 1,100 yen, wonton noodles 1,200 yen. Both were medium-thick curly noodles. The noodles were a little rough, which is my favorite type. The soup was a crisp soup with bonito and dried sardines as the main ingredients. It didn't have as strong a dried sardine flavor as the Shin Chuka, but as a bowl of ramen, the Chinese noodles had a better balance. As always, we enjoyed the piping hot soup. The wonton was a little garlicky, and it dissolved in the soup, so it's a matter of personal preference. (Translated by Google) [The popular restaurant is a popular restaurant] 5 minutes walk from Koriyama Station, Fukushima Prefecture. On this day, the five of us will meet in Koriyama and move on to our next destination, Nishiaizu. Before that, I decided to eat at this restaurant. The reason why we chose this restaurant was because ``5 of us have different tastes, so if it was a family restaurant that had everything, we wouldn't have to fight.'' This was my first visit, but even though the inside is spacious, customers keep coming in. We arrived just after 11:30, so we had plenty of time, but by 12:00, a large number of locals had entered the restaurant one after another, and the restaurant was nearly full. It's popular. In the end, I chose the "Special Lunch" (1,450 yen including tax), which was the greatest common denominator. I was curious about the difference between this and the "Mimatsu Set Meal" (1,200 yen including tax), which is the name of the restaurant, but apparently the special is the difference between the Mimatsu Set Meal and whether it comes with an omelet or potato salad. Well, I thought I would have no regrets if I ordered the highest grade, so I chose it. I also asked for 2 servings of ``gyoza'' (480 yen including tax x 2 plates). 12 pieces, 6 pieces per plate. ...Garlic is surprisingly effective. It's just delicious. The rest of us ordered ``Happo Sai Set Meal (1,050 yen including tax),'' ``Omelet Rice (750 yen including tax),'' ``Mustard Miso Ramen (750 yen including tax),'' and ``Boiled Fish and Flatfish Set Meal (850 yen including tax).'' The omelet rice, mustard miso ramen, and boiled fish flounder set meal seemed to be a hit. Well, my special lunch was very ordinary, and the taste was as expected. The fried shrimp, fried horse mackerel, potato salad, spaghetti with ketchup, and ham were okay, and the hamburger steak was just a step up. However, looking at the lively and fun atmosphere of the customers and seeing the customers coming in one after another, the shop has a very happy aura. What are the popular menu items for the restaurant staff? When I asked about it, I was told that each one costs about the same amount. There are so many menus out there that it can be difficult to find the one that suits you.

Jintei

$$$$affordable
Tonkatsu restaurant
Restaurant
The restaurant Jintei in Japan offers exceptional food, particularly their katsu dishes. The meal is a lavish spread, with an unlimited supply of rice. The salad and its dressing are both unique and delectable. Every dish I've tried has been fantastic, but the Jintei Special stands out as my personal favorite. It's a popular place that doesn't take reservations, so arriving before 5:30 is advisable to avoid a long wait time.
The food is really nice and the portion is huge (for female). We were served with hot towel and sencha after settling down. Then, we were given a huge bowl of vegetables and 2 dressings, which we couldn't finish. All main course comes with rice, miso soup and pickles. At the end, we had cold towel (to wipe our hands) and hot houjicha. The service crew is an elderly male and I am very flattered by his politeness and service. Do note that their staff only speaks Japanese, and there is no English menu. It was a great experience, thank you!

best tonkatsu i've had so far! the salad with many types of veggies are very fulfilling too. note: be prepared to wait at least 30 mins after you're seated to be served your food. but it's worth every minute. Though i think i would be a good idea to arrive right before the shop is opened to avoid long waits. Thank you to the shop owner for giving us such a great experience. Will not hesitate to come back for sure 🫶🏻

This place is mind-blowing. A friend of mine recommended it to me and I just expected the place to be good. Little did I know how amazing it was going to be. Of course the food is delicious, but the attentive care provided by the staff is as amazing as the food. You're allowed to have a refill of rice 4 times and the same goes for the soup and salad. The man taking care of us saw us going out under the rain and offered to call a taxi for us and gave us drinks for the ride out of kindness. It was a memorable experience that I'll share with everyone I know. Please visit this restaurant!

Adorable traditional place with amazing food! The Katsu was incredibly delicious and all of the side dishes made it an extremely filling meal. At the end of the meal, the shopkeeper gave me a bottle of tea to go! Absolutely charming place and I’m so glad I walked all the way to find it!

The food is amazing. I have never had a better katsu(fried pork/chicken) experience in Japan. The meal is a feast in spite of that he offers all you can eat rice. The salad and accompanying dressing is as unique in flavor and presentation as it is delicious. I have sampled several of the dishes and all of them are fantastic but my personal favorite is the Jintei Special. The place is popular and the owner doesn't do reservations as far as I know so I would recommend getting there before 5:30 or be prepared to wait upwards of an hour or more(but don't worry, it is worth it). The price for a meal is between 1500¥ and 2000¥(15$-20$) and it is worth every yen.

Probably one of the best tonkatsu restaurants in the country! The service is excellent and the food itself is fit for the Gods! Though the restaurant is small, patrons will gladly line up for hours waiting to be seated. Yes, the food is *that* good!

Chinese restaurant
(Translated by Google) This Chinese restaurant is located on a small road from Usui Street to the front of the station, and has been watching over the development of Koriyama. I thought it might be a little expensive, but it's surprisingly reasonable. For lunch, you can be satisfied with about 1,000 yen per person. For the same price as a bowl of ramen these days, you can enjoy ramen, fried rice, a small dish, almond tofu, and coffee or oolong tea for lunch. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere and a slightly exotic feel. There are many tables to suit the number of people, so if you want to order a lot of dishes, it may be better to choose a table with more people than the number of people. I ordered a set of fried noodles with thickened sauce and fried rice for lunch. Eating fried noodles with thickened sauce allows you to enjoy the seasoning of a Chinese restaurant. The gyoza is also juicy and delicious. By showing a coupon from the new Koriyama gourmet guide "Guruman", we also received a free coconut dumpling (one per flyer). The coconut on top, the chewy dumplings, and the orange bean paste inside were all delicious!! (Translated by Google) ■Store name Guniang Restaurant ■Location Koriyama Station ■Budget 1000-1999 yen ■Ordered menu ・Mapo fried rice lunch ----- Day 2 of my business trip to Koriyama. I only had a business meeting in the afternoon, so I had plenty of time to wander around the city. I went to a local Chinese restaurant in the night entertainment district. Even though it's a local Chinese restaurant, the storefront is impressive and looks like a Chinese restaurant. The interior was also nice, with a foreign atmosphere. I visited right after it opened, but there were already customers there. It's close to the station, so you can definitely get there within a 10-minute walk. The above is what I ordered this time. ▼Mapo fried rice lunch I chose this from the various lunch menus. It's great that I can eat mapo tofu and fried rice at the same time. The fried rice is oily and lightly seasoned. Is it because they have mapo tofu that they deliberately season it that way? It's so thin that you might think it's too salty, but it's not bad at all, it's just delicious. It's strange. The ingredients were simple, just eggs, and it was a basic fried rice. The mapo tofu was spicy with a hint of Japanese pepper. However, it wasn't too spicy and didn't numb you, so it was easy to eat. Although it's advertised as Shanghai-style, it's not that spicy, and it's seasoned to suit Japanese tastes, so it tastes just as good. There's a lot of tofu, so it's a dish that tofu lovers will love. That's all. You can choose between coffee or oolong tea for your complimentary drink, and I chose oolong tea this time. I also looked at the main menu, and there was a wide variety, and the cost performance was normal, so it's a restaurant that makes you want to come again. Thank you for the meal. I'll come again. *Please like and save! (Translated by Google) When I want to eat Chinese food in Koriyama, I thought that Gu Niang was the standard Chinese restaurant, so I went there! The sign has a cute neon design that makes me want to take pictures 🤭The food samples at the entrance also make it feel like an old-fashioned Chinese restaurant, giving it a sense of history. It was lunchtime on a Saturday, so there were several groups waiting inside the restaurant. We also wrote our names on the waiting board, and after taking pictures of the exterior for a while, we were called and sat down 😊If you check the number of groups waiting and think that your turn is approaching, it might be better to wait inside the restaurant 🤔If you are outside, you may be skipped... I ordered a selectable lunch and a porridge set (changed to seafood) For the small plate, I ordered mapo and shrimp chili ✨ The mapo was to my liking and not too spicy, so it was delicious! The shrimp chili was almost not spicy, but I thought it was quite sour 🥺When I had my companion try it, he said that it was his favorite taste, so I guess it was just in the range of his preferences. The taste was completely different from what I imagined shrimp chili to be! My companion's porridge came with pickled plums and zha cai to add flavor. The pickled plums were so sour that I thought the grandmother of the family must have made them, and they were delicious 🤤 The zha cai tasted like zha cai 🤣 The sesame dumplings that we had left over after the meal were absolutely delicious, with a filling that wasn't too sweet, a chewy texture, and the crunchy sesame seeds! And we got the highly recommended almond tofu at the very end 🎉 All I can say is it was delicious 😁 Free rice refills were also a big plus for this restaurant 😤 I don't know why, but I'm a little happy 😄 (Original)

Menya Kusabi

Ramen restaurant
If you find yourself in Koriyama, make sure to stop by Menya Kusabi, a beloved ramen spot that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Known for its rich tonkotsu ramen, this cozy restaurant offers generous portions of thick, flavorful broth that is hard to come by in the area.
This is my favourite ramen restaurant in the area. Ton kotsu ramen is seemingly difficult to find around where I live. Great little restaurant. Not outstanding service but to my untrained palate the ramen is fantastic. Nice thick soup and large servings. Reasonable pricing. Nice downstairs seating area. The reason I really like this place is that it opens really late and after a few too many beers this is the best place to go to line your stomach.

Also, the ankake sauce was very delicious with the shrimp being plump and delicious, and the wood ear mushrooms being crunchy as well.

Ramen restaurant
If you're in the mood for a unique noodle experience, look no further than This bustling transit hub offers an exciting twist on traditional ramen by blending rich broths with unexpected ingredients like cheese and fatty tuna. The menu is diverse, featuring various styles of noodles including mazesoba and tsukemen, ensuring there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is stylish yet cozy, making it a perfect spot to enjoy your meal.
My first time for this contemporary maze soba. It’s refreshing and tasted good! I did order mini fried rice as well and it turned out ‘VERY TASTY’ I put more chilly flakes in my soba. Their 🌶️ is hot ans i love it.

A good ramen shop with original recipes. Take the limited edition ramen for great noodle and pork! The fried dumplings are not really interesting, though. You can easily pass on it. Note that you have to pay before seating, and the vending machine is in japanese.

I’ve eaten at this place three times and I’ve never been disappointed. After two times of salivating over other guests’ orders, I’ve finally been able to order this. And it tastes astonishing! You’ll order through a vending machine and wait for your order after giving the stubs to the staff. Place is also clean but the food stands out the most. I definitely recommend their Japanese pasta!

This was really good and a bit different than your typical ramen. Menu had a great variety of noodles; mazesoba, new era & old era style ramen and tsukemen. I had the Taiwanese style ramen pictured below. The inside was stylish and clean. A bit on the small-side, but not any smaller than your typical ramen shop you'd find in a busy city section. Fancy noodles for a price that doesn't kill your wallet. Definitely want to eat here more often.

This place specializes in "Mah-zay soba" (mixed soba) is kind of like a Japanese lo mein. They do also serve ramen but their main attraction is the former. I was told that this small chain is exclusive to Fukushima and very popular with locals esp. since they're open late. Their most popular items are variations of mixed soba with meat (sliced, minced, or cut steak). However, they were, sadly, sold out at the time. Had the standard Japanese mixed soba but it was far too tame for my tastes. Everything else I wanted was sold out... The selection can be daunting so be sure to check out their placard on the counter that ranks their most popular dishes for the season.

If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Fruits Peaks Main Shop Koriyama. During my recent visit, I was thrilled to discover their seasonal offerings, especially the juicy and sweet Fukushima peaches that were simply divine in a parfait. The atmosphere was lively yet welcoming, allowing us to enjoy our treat without much wait despite its popularity.
(Translated by Google) I stopped by during my trip to try the peach parfait. The great thing about this place is that you can get a freshly made peach parfait to take away even if you're traveling with a baby. The peaches were sweet, juicy, and delicious. The shop is stylish and clean. The staff were very polite, telling me specifically that it would take 10 minutes, and handing the parfait over in a paper bag so it was easy to take home. It's a little pricey, but since it's only available for a limited time, it's worth it!

(Translated by Google) Visited for lunch I registered online just after noon and ate at around 2:00 PM. It was very popular, so I had to wait quite a while. The fruit sandwich was surprisingly heavy on cream, so a fruit platter might be more satisfying. The pasta lunch was enjoyable, with fruit salad, fruit soup, and other items typical of a fruit shop. Some of the pasta dishes also featured fruit, which I thought was interesting. I ordered the banana parfait R and a fruit sandwich. It was my first time there, but 😀 both were incredibly delicious. However, for someone who usually goes for set meals, the cost was high and the portions were small. 😀But I'm glad I visited this stylish, female-focused restaurant, where I was able to enjoy a satisfying, delicious parfait. It was topped with a small amount of fresh cream, so the sweetness was generally moderate. The shop was very busy, and you were given a numbered ticket when you entered. You could choose to wait inside the shop or be called on your mobile, so although there was a wait, it wasn't too bad, so I recommend going when you have plenty of time. Confectionery store

Nestled in Koriyama City, Sanmangoku is a delightful destination for those seeking authentic Fukushima treats. This main store offers an array of baked sweets, including the beloved Mamadoru and Ekison Pie, which are perfect souvenirs to take home. Just a short stroll from Koriyama Station, it’s conveniently located near a quieter shopping arcade. The staff here are known for their warm hospitality and often provide samples with your purchase—though the selection criteria may be a bit mysterious!

It has always had a moist, soft, natural and gentle taste. It's very delicious. Sanmangoku-san is a long-established store that has been in business for many years since just after the war, and their product ``Mamadoru'' has been popular since 1967.We have been eating it since my grandmother's time when she was still alive, and it is still a favorite of my daughter and I. It has a gentle taste like no other and has only about 120 calories each. Although the expiry date is short, I think it is very healthy and there is no need to worry about preservatives, and I hope that Mamadoru's natural taste will continue for a long time to come. The Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train connects Sendai to Tokyo Station and Shin-Aomori Station, making it easily accessible for travelers.

(Translated by Google) Flights departing and arriving at Fukushima Airport exceeded 80%. Tigerair Taiwan direct flight 🐅 I was surprised at how crowded it was. A direct flight with four nights included starting at ¥45,000 is cheap, and although it cost ¥10,000 for a three-hour round-trip highway toll plus gas, I was intrigued and gave it a try. Perhaps it's the tropical island culture of Taiwanese people, few people get up when the boarding announcement is made, and both takeoffs and landings are delayed by 30 minutes. Departure was smooth despite the line, but upon returning, immigration was handled by several staff members on the Taiwanese side, while only one person handled the Japanese side. There were less than 10 Japanese people in line, but it was slow and we couldn't get in. They said it was intensive immigration month, but customs was quite a hassle. The opening and closing times are convenient, so I think it's a good idea to split the highway and gas costs and go with multiple friends without worrying about time. Plus, the round-trip ticket was only 33,000 yen, so it could easily be used for traveling around Asia with a Taiwan transit. The airport staff and Fukushima residents are kind and helpful. As an Ultraman fan, I was really happy to see Ultra Airport. (I wish they'd bring in a designer and put more effort into it!♡) Apparently, the name comes from the fact that director Eiji Tsuburaya was from Sukagawa City, and the city established a sister city relationship with the Land of Light in the M78 Nebula. The convenience store has a wide selection of local Fukushima sake. Perhaps it's because of the Fukushima people's character, but there are a lot of delicious drinks.
