The Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre is a must-visit natural history museum in Whitehorse, Yukon. It showcases the history and culture of the Beringia region through archaeological exhibits, artifacts, fossils, and First Nation displays. The center offers free 30-minute guided tours providing an overview of its collections and research.
We stopped here on a rest day and really enjoyed this Interpretive centre. The staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly. The video was very informative. They have some great artifacts. If you do the combination admission, you can take the walking trail over to the Museum of Transportation. There is plenty of parking if you have your RV, so it definitely is worth the stop along your travels.
Donna S — Google review
Really interesting museum but you will go through it somewhat quickly. Would recommend watching the movie that screens throughout the day.
Christa S — Google review
Not very large but super informative. I really learned a lot about local pre-history. Definitely worth a stop. Won't take you longer than 1.5 hours at most.
S M — Google review
Was cool to visit this museum, Learned a lot I didn't know before about the age, especially why some larger parts of Yukon was ice free and why, will not give everything away here, so yes if your in Whitehorse it's differently a worthwhile visit

Great stop. Our guide Tracy was OUTSTANDING!!! Hilarious, knowledgeable. Stop for the mummified wolf pup, horse and caribou!
Paula D — Google review
One of our fav Places in Whitehorse! Loved the Short-film, very interesting and educational-AMAZING!
Karen J — Google review
I feels great to have a free tour which is both awesome and informative. The video shown is short and fun. Nice display of artifacts and multiple stations for kids to learn and experiment. Definitely would revisit given a chance.
Sumeet S — Google review
Very informative. I did not know that such a thing as a land sloth existed, its so huge and looks like a monster from D&D. I love it! The large canvas painting at the end was completely stunning. The preserved animals were very cool too. I mean I knew about the land bridge but didn't realize that area got so large! This place was very enlightening and educational.

Miles Canyon, a recreational canyon formed 8.5 million years ago, offers stunning basalt cliffs, scenic trails, rushing rapids, and diverse wildlife. This historic site was once a challenging passage for gold seekers traveling from Skagway to the Yukon River in hopes of striking it rich. The area's significance is reflected in the development of the settlement known as Whitehorse due to the foaming waters resembling white steeds.
Wish I'd had more time for hiking. Gorgeous emerald waters. Lovely purple crocus. No problem with parking when I was there. Not far off the main road, near Whitehorse.
Lisa C — Google review
A lovely, scenic place for a short walk or hike! Great views of the river and valley.
Colton B — Google review
It is not far from Whitehorse town. The color of the water was pure dark green. Easy to access a suspension bridge. It allows visitors to hike along a miles trail.
Nellie W — Google review
Beautiful canyon and walking area. You can drive to the location or access it via different hiking trails.
J M — Google review
Beautiful view of the Yukon river and Miles canyon lake. Stairway down to the bluff and a creaky bridge to the trail on the other side.

Nestled in the heart of Whitehorse, the MacBride Museum of Yukon History is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. This charming museum may not be vast, but it boasts an impressive array of exhibits that delve into the region's rich natural, social, economic, and industrial past. Visitors can explore artifacts from the iconic gold rush era alongside fascinating insights into Yukon First Nations culture.
Interesting museum with lots to see. The staff is super nice and friendly. I especially love the wildlife section. They really put a lot of work into preserving those specimens. Look so real! The costumes and history sections are very interesting and informative too. Definitely worth visiting if you travel to here.
Yebanqinsh — Google review
An excellent and well laid out museum with plenty to see and explore. I particularly like the number of full size dioramas setup to recreate the look of the past. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have tours available, but I didn't have time to explore as unfortunately on Wednesday they open at 1pm instead of the usual 9:30am, so I didn't have enough time. This is just during the summer. Overall, I highly recommend visiting if you have the time.
Malcolm G — Google review
The young ladies at the main floor were lovely, and I believe one of them, it was her first day. You both were simply wonderful!

Great local downtown museum in Whitehorse knowledgeable staff and tours available. We self directed and took our time about 3/4 hour.

The MacBride Museum of Yukon History in Whitehorse stands as the territory's inaugural institution of its kind, established in 1952 by the Yukon Historical Society. Housed in a recently expanded facility, it presents a comprehensive collection exceeding 40,000 artifacts that chronicle the resilient heritage of Yukon, encompassing Indigenous narratives, the natural environment, the Klondike Gold Rush, and the evolution of Whitehorse as the territorial capital. Visitors benefit from meticulously curated galleries, interactive demonstrations such as gold panning, and educational programs conducted year-round, rendering it an exemplary resource for understanding Canada's northern frontier.

Beautiful First Nations Artifacts, Klondike Goldrush, geological and Animal taxidermy specimens. Well worth the price of admission!

This excellent museum is a must-see if you are visiting Whitehorse. Among the many exhibits, you will find displays on famous people who formed the Yukon, the wide range of wildlife in the region, the Klondike Gold Rush, and Indigenous people's from the Yukon. You can also see the original cabin of the legendary Sam McGee.

S.S. Klondike National Historic Site

Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
The S.S. Klondike National Historic Site is a vintage sternwheeler ship reminiscent of those that navigated the Yukon River during the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. Operated by Parks Canada, this site offers a captivating journey through history, with lively interpreters in period costume sharing tales of adventure and fortune-hunters in the Klondike goldfields.
The SS Klondike is a historic sternwheeler vessel, now preserved as a National Historic Site of Canada in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. It represents one of the last remaining examples of steam-powered paddlewheelers that played a crucial role in the transportation of goods and passengers along the Yukon River during the early 20th century. Originally constructed in 1929 by the British Yukon Navigation Company, the ship was designed to carry freight between Whitehorse and Dawson City. It sank in 1936 due to an accident but was subsequently rebuilt and relaunched as the SS Klondike II in 1937, with enhanced capacity for cargo and passengers. The vessel operated until 1955, when river transportation declined due to the development of road infrastructure. It was then moved to its current dry-docked location on the banks of the Yukon River, adjacent to the Robert Campbell Bridge in Whitehorse, where it serves as a museum exhibit illustrating the evolution of Yukon River navigation and life during that era. As of September 2025, the SS Klondike is undergoing a $14 million restoration project to address structural issues and ensure waterproofing, rendering it temporarily closed to visitors. Managed by Parks Canada, the site offers educational insights into the region's transportation history upon reopening.
Francis H — Google review
It's a bit unfair to rate this site as the S.S. Klondike is closed to the public as it is currently being restored. The Parks Canada welcome centre, however, is open, as are the grounds, a small cinema showing the movie, “In the Days of the Riverboats,” and an escape room. Once this famous riverboat reopens to the public it will likely become again a must-see attraction in Whitehorse. For now, however, you can prioritize going to the many other fun sites and activities on offer in Whitehorse and surrounding areas.
James C — Google review
I was quite disappointed that the boat is inaccessible because of restoration. You can only view it from outside the fencing that is all around it. I realize projects like this are necessary sometimes, but they need to have a much more prominent notice on their website about it being closed. Or better yet actually close it and put all the resources into completing the restoration in a more timely manner.
Malcolm G — Google review
We stopped here even though the boat is currently closed to the public. They are restoring it and will be reopened in the future. They have a small visitor centre and the staff was very nice. There is still plenty of information about the boat without being able to go invitation. There are also some red Adirondack chairs that are part of Parks Canada. It was fun taking our pictures in the chairs.
Donna S — Google review
The site was cute. The shop was being restored, so we couldn't for the boat. It is supposed to be done by 2029 according to the young man in the info center. Some nice souvenirs. Two cute cabins--one with an 18- minute video about the shop and the other seemed to be an escape room.
Melody M — Google review
Stopped in to visit this museum and ended up hopping on a tour that had just started for an extra $10. The tour was interesting, very professionally done by parks Canada, and the other visitors struck up a conversation and asked good questions. I recommend the tour rather than just looking around, as you feel more like you have experienced the real thing.
William S — Google review
I didn’t do the tour, but there was an informative historical video (about 20 minutes) and a brochure that was about $2 which explained everything you need to know about the boat. While the boat is undergoing repairs and only the lower level is able to be accessed at the time of writing (July 2023), it was still a worthwhile place to visit while in Whitehorse.
Dane B — Google review
It’s closed and probably closed until 2028. Maybe worth a visit if you are already passing through but otherwise not. Not much in the visitor Center. Other reviewers have said it is unfair to rate it poorly because its closed, but this just means the reviews are highly deceptive. They are being left by people who have not actually visited the boat. There is very little to see. The visitor centre is a small shop with a video running on a loop. If you are in the area and can drive by, sure, take a look and stretch your legs, but you will learn more about it using Youtube. You cannot see much. There are some really nice museums in town that are worth visiting instead. It is very deceptive of the staff to not let people know in advance that there is nothing really to see. They should update Google. I have visited twice in three years. Both times hoping it would open. Still closed.

It offers an engaging experience for both adults and children, with special emphasis on educating young visitors about the region's transportation history.
Don’t miss this! We had a few hours to fill before our flight and this exceeded our expectations. I loved some of the humorous captioning and the display styling was brilliant. There’s loads to see and we learned so much. The gift shop had some really interesting items including artwork and blueprints. Definitely worth it!
Kate A — Google review
Unfortunately it was closed the day we were planning on going there. But even from the outside there are a lot of vehicles to see and admire. Will have to come back sometime.
Colton B — Google review
We bought a combination admission and after visiting the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre, we took the walking trail over to the Yukon Transportation Museum. They had a lot of interesting vehicles and history about their artifacts. There was information on some artifacts that I never knew, so it was great information. This was definitely worth the stop. They have plenty of parking, even if you are in an RV.
Donna S — Google review
I had several hours before my flight, and it's only a 5 minute walk from the terminal so I decided to check it out. It's not a huge museum, but they have a very good collection of different types of transportation history in Yukon, with lots of exhibits both inside and out. Definitely worth visiting if you have some extra time waiting for a delayed flight out of the airport.
Malcolm G — Google review
We went and spent the afternoon at the museum on Sept 7th. What a wonderful treasure in Whitehorse. There was so much history and artifacts. We couldn't read it all.
Mary-Ann T — Google review
I loved loved loved this place. It's not huge but it's really well curated and shows a great sampling of the transportation history for the area. There's lots of great exhibits inside and the outside area has lots of interesting pieces of equipment as well. The train diorama and the stories that go along with it were a big hit with everyone but my favourite had to be the bush pilot room. The staff at the museum were all really friendly and happy to answer any questions I had, they even offered me a guided tour when they saw how enthusiastic about the bush pilot room I was. I could have easily spent 4-5 (or more) hours there, we were a bit shy on time but managed to see most of it in about 2.
Chris D — Google review
Adult tickets are around $10 each. We were a little surprised considering the scale and modest set up. But after we get in, we immediately like the museum. You can tell they put lots of thoughts into it,m. Things are curated in a very interesting way. I assume the cost of running this little museum could be pretty high, so the cost are reasonable. It’s a fun way to know more about Whitehorse from the perspective of transportation. We spent 30-40 mins in there then we have to leave for our flight. If I get a chance to go back, I’d plan 1.5 hr for this place.
Zoey Z — Google review
This is a great way to see the Yukon, a must see, come for the sights and stay for the history. We had a tour of the museum delivered with such Excitement it was so fun, Thanks to Nicole. The working model train was so cool. It travels through Whitehorse, Carcross and White Pass with awesome model planes in the sky over head. There were so many model planes, scrutinized for accuracy, plus the bonus of real ones as well. It was so cool to be immersed the amazing history of the Yukon.

It serves as both a community gathering place and an educational hub for sharing traditions with outsiders.
Beautiful artifacts and history in the building. Well worth the visit!
Kay S — Google review
Beautiful centre alongside the Yukon River. Met a gentleman inside who was related to many of the individuals in photos on display and he was able to recount many stories of the times. Same gentleman started learning his ancestral language at age 60 . Wonderful place to visit and learn.
Marcel D — Google review
As we visited on a Sunday, there were almost no people in the building. A kind employee, however, opened up the gallery for us, where we were able to see a great exhibit on modern Indigenous fashion. We also strolled in the centre's main hallway, where information panels and exhibits described the history of local First Nations. The next time I am in Whitehorse, I will aim to come during the week so I can learn more about the Kwanlin Dün First Nation.
James C — Google review
The activities of the White Horse Chamber of Commerce are really wonderful. Unfortunately, the tickets are a little expensive and we can't get in. But it gives us a new inspiration to find a member company certified by the Chamber of Commerce. They should be able to provide better treatment. And there were other activities that night, which were also very interesting, but unfortunately there were not many people. I had expected to have DJ dancing, but there was no.
Gateberg F — Google review
Attended a friend's wedding here. Would 100% recommend as a venue for Whitehorse events!! Ample free parking, right by the river. Facilities are clean and modern.
Wilson H — Google review
A beautiful place. I recommend going to the shop there if you want to buy gifts or souvenirs that are produced by local artists.
Stéphane S — Google review
I came to the winter market here which was indoor, warm and had controlled entry due to COVID-19. I felt really comfortable and at ease here. They have really nice and clean washrooms and hand sanitizers ready for use anytime. The items they sell were local produced honey, handicrafts, art etc. It's a pretty nice place to shop and support local businesses especially during such difficult times. Apparently this is a yearly affair so stay tuned during each Christmas period and it lasts for 12 days if I didn't remember wrongly. Some of the items are really popular and run out really fast so if you see something you like, don't hesitate. All in all the place is clean, staff really friendly and not rude. Some places have staff who hate their job absolutely and don't bother to make life for visitors. When you enter, the staff do greet you and check that you put on your masks properly (which is really important to me during such a difficult and dangerous pandemic period). Not totally my kind of place to visit, but all in all the experience is really good, 4 stars is well deserved.
Luke — Google review
Wow!! What a beautiful building and history it has to tell. It is a cultural center / Conference center so it is a hybrid building, but totally worth the visit. A wonderful human took some time to give us pamphlets and made us feel welcome. I'd recommend making a stop here

This historic Anglican church provides guided tours that explore various themes such as the history of the Anglican Church in Yukon and the contributions of women during that era.
This church is filled with the true history of Whitehorse and the Yukon. The building was built in 1900 and very little has changed...I know...I sang here in 1959. The two guides are young university students from Whitehorse and are fantastic. This should be a must-see place in Whitehorse.

Lots of artifacts in the Old Log Church Museum. Staff were friendly. Worth the visit!

We didn’t go inside the church, but the space next to it with the benches conveys an incredible sense of peace. It can be an escape after work that helps you connect with nature right in the middle of Downtown. It’s a great hideaway in plain sight.

The museum features an intriguing exhibition on early mining in the area, offering insight into this important aspect of Yukon's past. Additionally, there is a gift shop where visitors can find souvenirs to commemorate their visit.
Lots of artifacts from Indigenous peoples, the Klondike Goldrush era, as well as geological and animal sections. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well worth the visit!
Kay S — Google review
While this small museum describes the region's mining copperbelt history, the main attraction is the train ride through the woods. Unfortunately, the train had unexpected mechanical problems when we took it. That said, if you have time, coming here for the train ride is worth it. However, if you only have limited time in Whitehorse, you may want to consider some of the area's many other attractions.
James C — Google review
I love this place for the kiddies, it's a short little train ride, no commentary because kids lol but they so enjoy the little ride! There's also an awesome playground and picnic area in the back!
Jessica M — Google review
Nice place to spend some picnic time with kids or group of friends. Cost $5 for short toy train ride and reading info in the museum. No guide or commentary by any one.

We made a vase & paperweight and loved the process & teaching style. Loved our day there, lots of laughs. Thanks for a great 65th birthday celebration. Sorry it took so long to say thank you!! Lu we had so much fun with you & every-time we look at our items we made or bought it brings us right back to Whitehorse.

Such a cool experience to be able to make your own glass object. I made a paperweight and a hanging bauble (to look like the Aurora Borealis). Lu who runs it was super friendly and showed us exactly what to do. I would highly recommend booking an appointment here and making some glassware. Definitely a bucket list experience.
Anne-Marie S — Google review
Fantastic! What a wonderful experience—not only to witness artistry in the making but also to have the chance to try your hand at this unique craft. As always, it appears far easier than it truly is, yet the patience and skill of the artists here are remarkable. Working with something as delicate as glass requires both precision and calm. Whether you stop by to watch the process unfold or take home a piece of local art, it’s well worth the visit.
Bradley J — Google review
Let me just say this: if there is one experience you need to have while in Whitehorse, it is the glass blowing at Lumels!! This was by far my favorite so far. The staff are absolutely amazing. You get to choose your item, your colours, and have a wonderful experience with their knowledgeable and friendly (and funny) staff!! Highly recommend.
Kayla B — Google review
I decided to give glass blowing a try based on a Reddit recommendation and it went so much better than I expected. Did the half hour hot date and created a glass raven with the help of Lu and her staff! They were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. This is definitely a must do if you visit Whitehorse (even if you don’t think glass blowing is your thing)!

Nestled just 25 minutes from downtown Whitehorse, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve spans an impressive 700 acres and serves as a sanctuary for 11 species of northern mammals in their natural environment. This family-friendly destination offers visitors a chance to observe majestic wildlife such as elk, moose, woodland caribou, mountain goats, and even baby moose.
Excellent staff. Very friendly and helpful. We walked around as we like to hike and prefer that to the tour bus or bike. Animals were great but the moose were elusive which is normal apparently. I've been coming to Canada for 10 years now and never seen one. Maybe they are either very shy or are hiding from hunters?
Mike S — Google review
This place was fantastic! Our guide Kaitlyn made this tour a fun and educational one. She was humorous and informative, sharing with us about all the facts that we did not know. The animals such as the lynxes and the fox living there were all rescued and have grown into stronger selves. Another entertaining part was the ground squirrels (see photo). They were so cute and never failed to make us laugh! This has been a memorable experience and I will definitely come back!
MingHanLeo — Google review
Had such a great time and would go back again! We booked a bus tour, and so glad we did. The walk around the entire preserve might have taken a bit too long, but they do have bike rentals as an option. But we were glad we did the guided tour so we could learn more and ask questions. Piper was a fantastic guide and we were able to see pretty much all the animals in the preserve. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Natalie W — Google review
I took my Dad who was visiting from BC to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and did a private bus tour with a Lynx feeding. Brit was our tour guide and she was amazing! She was so knowledgeable, patient with all of our questions, professional, and very accommodating to my Dad's decreased mobility. She was also super personable and friendly. The Lynx feeding was an unreal experience, and we loved learning about the history of the preserve. I highly recommend booking the private bus tour (with Brit specifically!) if you want a more intimate wildlife experience.
Nissa W — Google review
Tour guide was a ton of fun and very knowledgeable. Kept it fun for the kids and moved at a good pace. It was really fun to learn about all of thr animals and see most of them. Thanks for having us!
Jennifer M — Google review
This place is a must-visit. We stumbled across it by accident during our travels and had zero regrets. The area offers a 3-mile walking loop where you can see the animals, and every dollar goes directly toward their care. Restrooms are available along the route, but don’t forget to bring a water bottle—it can turn into quite the workout.
Crystal A — Google review
5km walk. One slight hill along the way. An option to rent fat bikes which I would try next time. The animal enclosures are large so you may or may not see all the animals as a preserve isn’t like a zoo. But thrilled to see some Yukon wildlife up close.
Colleen F — Google review
Our guide was excellent. The minibus was comfortable and we saw all the species in the reserve, including the lynx and that even the guide hadn’t seen in a few weeks!

Had a delicious breakfast sandwich on our way out of Whitehorse. The place was packed, which speaks for itself. Even though it was busy, it didn't take long to get our food. Our waitress was attentive & kept our coffee mugs & water glasses full! There is a decent amount of indoor seating, considering it is not a large place. It's kid-friendly. I noticed some young couples in the restaurant with children. There appeared to be highchairs & books available for little ones. It is street parking. We didn't have an issue on Sunday morning. We were there close to opening time. There were some nice options on the menu with good variety. The potatoes were to die for!

Our AIRBNB property had a 'places to try' booklet. BURNT TOAST was recommended for breakfast lunch AND dinner. We thought that was suspicious, lol. We ended up going because our first and second choices weren't even open for breakfast or lunch. It's a very comfy cafe! The service is top-notch, very friendly. The menu has generous choices, and both of our meals were delicious. We liked how the ambience was unique, and not some run-of-the-mill decor. The tables are all different and very cool, the chairs are comfy, the warm decor made this a very at-home feel. The place was packed when we got there so we needed to wait until people left in order to take pics. And another thing? We loved the music..... we had Auto-Shazam on so came home with some new favorites. So yes, we would actually go there for breakfast, lunch AND dinner!! :)

Delightful brunch spot in Whitehorse. Highly recommend. I had the Croque Madam and my friend had the Veggie Eggs Bennie. The hash potatoes are scrumptious too. Great selection of food and drinks. Would definitely go back whilst we are in town.

I was staying at a local hotel, which didn't have a restaurant, so looked online and saw Burnt Toast a block away with good reviews so went to try it for brunch. I was not disappointed. The place is a small cozy diner style with a nice local vibe. Service was very friendly and good if not overly fast. It's not the type of place you go if you are in a hurry (unless you do takeout). I decided on the Pulled pork breakfast skillet. It was delicious with tasty pork, crisp potatoes and an interesting mix of veggies, chipotle, cheese and gravy with 2 poached eggs. It came with 4 pieces of toast. It was very filling to say the least. I would definitely like to go back to try their french toast. Definitely recommend for a brunch stop if you are in Whitehorse.

Everything was fantastic, Maples Bangers and hash for breakfast was really good. Atmosphere was great. Service outstanding, very busy this morning, they kept everyone's coffee cup full. Thanks for everything great price as well.

This was an exceptional cafe. Local, fresh ingredients, above average presentation, and knowledgeable servers. All drinks and food are an upgrade of any experience we have had on our month long Alcan adventure. I ordered the Croque Madam breakfast (5) that comes with just right slightly crisped potato chunks. My husband ordered a classic breakfast (someone who usually wants a more greasy spoon local establishment) and said this was a 5 and he would come all the time if he lived here!

Great little spot with gluten free food! Some marked on menu, but were really helpful in altering other meals, and had gluten free bread. We ordered the cowboy, the Italian, and some poutine. Poutine was marked GF on the menu, and they amended to Italian to make it GF. Lovely staff and great food!

Such a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant with a mind blowing variety of meats, seafood, vegan and gluten free choices. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the service was friendly. We ordered the elk meat balls, bison burger, wild boar and pork schnitzel. Great flavours and generous portions. Highly recommend!

My husband and I tried this place on our last night visiting from out of town, and what a great way to end off our stay in whitehorse. I'm a vegan and my husband enjoys vegan food with me most of the time as well. I was so excited by their very wide range of vegan options, literally pages of them unlike so many other places that just have maybe 2 or 3 items. I also love the fact that they have an array of cuisines from all over the world, and it was so hard to decide what to order. I ultimately went with the 3 sisters stew which I knew would be a perfect comfort meal on the colder day and I was 100% right. My husband tried the vegan rasta pasta which had imitation shrimp and chicken, he loved it and the bites I tried were amazing too. Both of our portions were very generous and our meals were prepared quick and the service was so friendly and enthusiastic. This place will definitely be a must-stop if we are ever in Whitehorse again and we'll encourage anyone who ever goes through town to give it a try!

I love the atmosphere and the food. The staff are super kind and generous. Our waiters Colin and Gustavo were really awesome. Great variety of foods. Something for everybody. I don’t know why this place isn’t busier!

We went to Antoinette’s because it was so well reviewed. It did not disappoint! We got the bison burger which was delicious as well as the lentil Dahl for something different. They also have a wide variety of beverages from alcoholic to non alcoholic drinks. The owner and the employees were very friendly and will definitely go back if ever we’re in Whitehorse again.

To start, the restaurant was clean with a lot of decorations. The staff was pretty friendly. The only downside to this is their menu. It is much too comprehensive. They have items from around the world. They should consolidate their menu and improve the dishes they serve. My co workers did not enjoy their food and I picked a pretty safe option (beef stew).
Chelsea L — Google review
I was recommended to visit Antoinette's by DeepSeek, who apparently knows quite a bit about good food, for a computer! Antoinette's was exactly what I was promised -- a creative place to try exquisite, local flavours at a fair price. The staff was super friendly and helped me navigate the large variety of dishes to choose one that was both wild and fresh and full of flavour. I'm so happy I came here - it was everything I hoped it could be!

Gather Cafe & Taphouse is a charming and unique spot located next to a glass blowing studio. The space is small, so it's best to arrive early to secure a seat for a delightful meal and cocktails. Additionally, visitors can sign up for glass blowing workshops before enjoying the diverse menu offerings. Guests have praised the delicious food, particularly the crispy halibut burger and excellent cocktail selection.
The food is always great here. Crispiest halibut burger I’ve ever eaten. The toppings are delicious. Its needs a lettuce barrier between the fish and toppings tho, to keep the fish crispy, imo. Otherwise amazing. Love the cocktail menu, I had two with lunch, both delicious. Excellent fries as well! Also love being able to bring my pup on the deck. Often we are bringing them up from the communities for vet appointments and, it’s awesome not to have to leave them in the hot car.

Gather Café is more than just a restaurant, it’s a complete experience. The food is absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and elevated by the handcrafted blown-glass cups from Lumel Studios, which add a unique local touch. The atmosphere is warm, creative, and thoughtfully designed, every detail of the decorations complements the food perfectly. A must-visit spot in Whitehorse for anyone who appreciates great taste, artistry, and heart.

Great little Mexican restaurant with huge proportions reasonably priced. They have dozens of local Kraft beers to choose from. Very small and closes early, we made a reservation for our party of 6. Centrally located. Next to a glass blowing store where you can purchase one of a kind pieces.

A hidden gem, one of the best tacos I ever had. Ordered the artic char taco and the coconut shrimp taco. The sauce pairings for both were excellent with deep flavours
Hazzen C — Google review
We were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table and it ended up being closer to 1 hour. It was completely worth it! Their roasted cauliflower was delightfully savoury (loved the tahini sesame butter). Their arctic char tacos were also the best tacos I’ve ever had! To top it off, we got to enjoy the fresh air and sun while sitting on their patio, and marvel at their handmade glassware from the next-door glassblowing studio. What a special restaurant in Whitehorse!

Restaurant
Smoke & Sow, along with its sister restaurant the Sow Sandwich Shop, is a must-visit spot in Whitehorse for authentic Southern BBQ. Despite being attached to a gas station, this place offers top-notch protein and flavors reminiscent of the southern U.S. The restaurant has gained a reputation as one of Yukon's best dining establishments, attracting visitors who are willing to go out of their way for its high-quality offerings.
Second time coming here just to try all the combinations of sides and mains they have to offer. The sides were really good and not something of an afterthoughts. I recommend the Mac and Cheese specifically as there was a generous amount of cheese inside. The brussel sprouts had a good char to them for texture and nice flavour. We also ordered the enchiladas and they were really great with an enormous portion, it can be a full main by itself. This was the same as the first time I came and ordered the trash can tater tots. The mains were tender and tasted great. Be mindful you don't overorder as the portions and type of food is very filling. Would recommend checking this place out for some comfort food.
William L — Google review
This used to be my favourite restaurant in the whole Yukon. We would go for every special occasion in our lives. Unfortunately quality has been bad in the last several months, specifically the cook on the meat. We desperately wanted the old smoke & sow back, so we emailed the owner as a heads up. They invited us in for a free meal, but that meal was also not great. Then we went back again a few months later hoping things were back to normal, and it was even worse. Sides are great but the meat is just so dry, chewy, and overcooked. Pulled pork was like eating a wad of shredded cardboard. Attached picture is the dry, lifeless brisket that continues to haunt me. Please bring back the old Smoke and Sow!
Csans — Google review
Whoever cooked the brisket should be fired. It was like chewing on jerky. Worst brisket I've ever had. The mac and cheese was flavorless. The pulled pork was surprisingly good. Need a better selection of bbq sauce. Please get a smokey mustard 😩
Rachael B — Google review
Great meal! Sides were underwhelming (we got pit beans and dill pickle potato salad which were both just ok). Brisket burger was outstanding and the ribs and brisket were great. OG BBQ sauce is a must.
Paula D — Google review
This is my favorite restaurant in whole Whitehorse 😋 the Brisket is so tender and delicious. Sides: Spring rolls potatoes and Cajun fries are the best. Good service, decorations and music. Thanks. Highly recommended 👍🏽 And Brisket nachos was so freaking good 🤤

Found/chose this place by accident, and I'm so glad. Food is AH-mazing. Though a little expensive. But worth it. Smoked flavor is perfect. Great sides. Gluten Free Bread! They have cocktails, beer wine, and soda.

The turmeric cauliflower bowl was good. Nice presentation. While pricey it is a good amount of food. Recommend if you are looking for a vegan breakfast or lunch option in Whitehorse.

Atmosphere is great even tho it’s a small cafe, staff were kind. Food and drinks were very tasty, but food came in small portions for the price that we paid. I believe this place gets busy so not many seats available, that was my experience at least. Definitely would come back though
Caroline T — Google review
We really enjoyed our meal the first day we were here (the best avo toast! - pictured here), the ladies took the time and care to make our meals. On the second day we came, we didn't enjoy our meal as much. A different set of staff made our rushed meals, the avocado toast was very salty, less pomegranate seeds were added and the overnight oats were not very well layered, resulting in mostly one item being added.
Laura — Google review
On our recent visit to the Yukon we enjoyed the wonderful food and coffee at the Kind Cafe in Whitehorse a few times. The staff are friendly and cheery. The cafe is cozy and inviting. We enjoyed one meal at their outside table and one inside. The food and coffee is fresh and the almond butter banana toast was a pleasant surprise. It was busy all the time. Be patient. It’s worth the wait.
Garry — Google review
Cute, comfortable cafe with a good selection of beverages and vegan food options. I got the vegan kale Caesar salad with smoked tofu, which was tasty but had too much pumpkin seed brittle which added an unnecessary element of sweetness. I appreciated that all of the packaging was recyclable. The indoor seating is limited.
Aubrae W — Google review
I came to Whitehorse for a work trip last week. I work as the parliamentary assistant for MP Brendan Hanley, and I got to visit the Yukon as we had two ministers come visit. This was my first time in the Yukon. Before travelling all my friends and family asked me what I would eat as a vegan. When I left I did not know. When I arrived, I could not have been happier after discovering the Kind Café. Before I talk about this restaurant, I would like to give a shoutout to Kind Café in Vancouver. It was one of my favourite restaurants when I was there. To this day it is one of the only places I have been to that is vegan and zero waste. Nevertheless, after discovering that there was The Kind Café in Whitehorse, I knew I had to go. I only had the privilege of eating at this restaurant twice when I was in town. Both times were glorious. I first went on Tuesday morning before work. I walked the 400 metres from my hotel(The Gold Rush Inn). I was thankful that it was so close, as I had left my winter coat in the office the evening before and I had to run there in a sweater. Having already finished winter in Ontario, I was shocked by the -20 temperature that morning. Upon arrival, I was instantly warmed up when I was greeted by the friendly staff. In my two trips I ate the lox carrot sandwich, Avocado Toast, a cookie and a brownie. There is only one word I can use to describe each item: Delectable. I was overjoyed with each bite I took. I thought I would be sad when I finished my meal, but I was perfectly satisfied. People often ask, what does the Kind in Kind café stand for? Is it the kind people? Is it the food that is kind to your palate, your body and the planet? Or is it the kind of person you are after eating there? The kind of person who cares more about others, who demonstrates compassion and stops to appreciate every moment of life. The answer. All of the above.
Noah G — Google review
Are you a lost urbanite in Yukon? Are you itching for one of them avocado toasts from your previous life in Vancouver or Toronto, and Tim Hortons just isn't cutting it for you anymore? Or are you someone looking for a quality place to have a bite? Well look no further. This is a fantastic spot for those looking for "healthy" food or just those who want something different. I am not the traditional consumer of this type of establishment but wanted to see what it was like. I was expecting the usual overpriced small portion "good for the world" nonsense these type of establishments have with middle of the road taste. However I was pleased to be surprised, the food was actually great and within a reasonable price. Don't be intimidated by its looks or ghosts of hipsterhood past, this place is good enough for most, even those who are not McDonald's celibates to enjoy. Also while I understand your whole thing is health, offer me a Perrier or something else than some weird new age drink. I am okay without soda or a red bull but meet me in the middle. Why 4 stars? Well, a restaurant or food establishment serves one major function: feeding people. People usually need to work for money to buy food, especially takeout. Yet, this place operates on hours that would make banks look like a 24/7 gas station. 10 to 4 pm on weekdays is not only elitist but also bad business. Most cities have these places to have weekend brunches, or for dinner for a date or to meet with friends. But 10 to 4 and closed on weekends?! I get it, COVID, but these hours are just not conducive to making money. While dining in is closed due to the pandemic, these activities could be done in the comfort of your own home, and Whitehorse is no stranger to good takeout. But at least you are in Doordash which is some progress . This isn't high school - playing hard to get isn't attractive. So please let me have my avocado toast since I can't afford to buy a place here but still enjoy a good meal, danggit.

Nestled in the heart of Whitehorse, Wood Street Ramen is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of traditional Japanese ramen shops. This cozy eatery is the brainchild of a chef with extensive experience in Asia and an Asian-born restaurateur, who have come together to create a menu that highlights locally sourced ingredients. We were tourists - had no clue where to go. Happened upon this place after parking the RV in Shipyard park, lots of space. Excellent friendly service. Delicious meal. Ordered the chicken curry, Dan Dan and bucket of belly. Chicken curry disappeared fast. Highly recommend. Skip the fast food and get a good fresh meal here.

My wife and I eat ramen all the time and have tried it many places. We were in town for just one night and wanted to get away from the hotel's dining room and try something good and local so we headed here to give it a try. Our experience wasn't great. The room is nice enough...intimate, and appropriately lit. Our server wasn't particularly friendly or nice...we felt a little bit like he would rather just give people food for takeout orders. The food itself did not live up to our hopes for a good and flavorful meal at a Ramen shop. I had the Dan Dan noodles (one of 2 vegetarian options on the menu.) The dish was prepared without any kind of sauce or dressing and had very little flavor. They did bring a side of chili oil which I tossed in myself that helped some...but there really wasn't a lot going on here in terms of enjoyment in my mouth. My wife got the miso ramen. I tried it too...the broth tasted like it came out of a canned vegetable soup...very strange flavor for Ramen...not really a discernable "miso" flavor and overall the least tasty ramen we've ever had. There was also a Sweet Chili Tofu rice bowl available for vegetarians and a couple of sides (more noodles, edamame.) The odds of us getting back to Whitehorse any time soon are slim, but if we did, we definitely wouldn't be rushing back here.

Leanne E — Google review
"Looks" alike, however, the taste is terrible, really bad. Tried 4 types of ramen/noodles in the menu, all far from the original taste/texture/ingredients. Only surprised me are pork belly and Chili oil (must try).
I L — Google review
Considered this a 4 star review. As a Japanese ramen lover, I was overjoyed learning a ramen-ya was opening in town. Then they had to put cilantros on their noodle. No cilantros on ANY food! Wasn’t trying to suppress creativities but it was not “ramen”. So I stopped going. They updated their menus, they took out inedible green weedy ingredients, and it actually tasted great now. Keep it up. And leave weeds where it should be. The ground, the dumps, not in the bowls.

Wow! Totally worth the visit tonight! Incredible customer service and live music (granted it was the last evening of Winterlong Wednesdays). The food was absolutely delightful, a must go if you’re local or just visiting Whitehorse. Just got back from a long day of mountain biking and I’ll be sure to go back again real soon. Alpine Bakery, a beloved establishment in Whitehorse, offers a diverse range of affordable fusion foods crafted from natural and wholesome ingredients. Founded by Suat Tutzlak in 1984, the bakery has become an integral part of the community. The two-story log building houses a bakery, restaurant, and organic produce club where patrons can savor freshly baked bread from the brick oven or indulge in delectable lunch specials like vegan pizza and homemade stews.
There are several things I really like about this store - that they're open on Saturday, the friendly service, the freshness of food, the uniqueness of products, and that there are healthy food options. What I don't love - steep prices, short hours, a little distance away from the core downtown. Having said that, I will definitely try to squeeze in another visit during my time here. They have about 2 parking spaces, but lots of street parking around. Washroom is really clean. The staff are pretty efficient at clearing the tables after a party leaves.

Don’t get me wrong, I see their passion and dedication on making, baking and providing healthier bakeries to their customers. Using organic products and being a role model for the environment, they earned my respect. The bakery is blanketed with the aroma of coffee and warmth of breads. It feels welcoming and soothing. If only they tasted as awesome as they smelled. But that’s the opinion coming from an omnivore. Their sourdoughs are pretty decent, but their sweets are kinda dull. Coffees are pretty nice.
HJ M — Google review
Great little bakery, cozy atmosphere. A small dine in section. Tastes great but not a huge variety of times; mostly savory baked goods. Efficient service. I like that they sell a lot of locally produced stuff too!
JESSICA — Google review
Even though I didn’t take any food picture while i was there but let me tell you very honestly that they have so so so much of bakery goods that you will have hard time deciding on what you want to eat. Everything is freshly baked in brick oven so imagine the freshness and taste. For sure its not regular grocery store so prices are little on higher end. Not too too expensive though. I tried pumpkin spice latte which is very creamy and flavourful , a person next to my table was raving all about the yellow spice turmeric latte. Apple strudel i had just melted in my mouth and i am guessing that their all time famous is onion, rosemary, walnut bun as not only me but almost every other person bought it. They also have customized chocolates with engraving of thank you and happy birthday. Staff is very pleasing and helpful. You can use wifi and sit inside or outside on their patio which is like litle garden with benches to sit and eat. Clean bathroom. Baskets and dairy to purchase too. Homemade yogurt, dips and spreads can be purchased from here.

There are some gluten free options, I bought some delicious chocolate cookies that didn't make it home. I also bought some beautiful indigenous made earrings and some fire roasted coffee. Would go again!

A summer staple of the Whitehorse community! Plenty of local farms, handmade crafts, delicious food vendors, and helpful info booths for local groups. Beer gardens too if you're lucky, and music and small events. Huge focus on local products! It's impossible to have a bad time at the market, and it's always full of friendly faces :)

Great variety of items on sale in a lovely and picturesque location close to downtown. I got some of the best pepperoni I've ever had from there

Always nice to have an easy access to fresh and made product from the Yukon. Keep up the good work, you are making a lot of us happy !

Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport

International airport
Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport is a small and convenient airport located just 5 minutes away from downtown Whitehorse. The airport features a unique landmark, the world's largest weathervane in the form of a Douglas DC3 vintage plane. Despite its size, the airport offers friendly staff members and efficient security.
Pretty cool airport to be fair. Can't complain when you're greeted by taxidermy stags charging at each other. Layout was simple enough to navigate, so can't complain.

I hope since all the thousands of airplanes that had to be landed on 911. Plus that 747, thought to be a terrorist plane, being followed by a pair of armed f-15s. Having permission to fire if necessary. That this airport got some radar installed. Ordered by the faa. And not rely on a pair of eyes looking through binoculars. And line of sight. And is up to 21st century standards

While it is a small airport, it's fairly new and spacious for it's size. Definitely better laid out than some of the other small city airport like Prince George. They recently opened a Black Wolf Bistro upstairs which as a nice selection of food and drinks, with tables overlooking the field. They also have a nice comfortable lounge upstairs with power outlets to charge up things. Post security there isn't any food place, but they do now have a vendor machine sponsored by Black Wolf Bistro with a small selection of sandwiches.

YXY is a nice and clean airport. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the check-in and security process are quick and easy. It’s small but well organized, and the waiting area is comfortable. A great airport for traveling in and out of Yukon! ✈️

This is a nice little airport only 5 minutes away from the city which requires less than 50 minutes before your flight. Only a small gift shop for keurig coffee, pop and snacks so make sure you eat before coming or have your own food. Clean toilets and lots of parking.

Small airport, 2-3 car rental places. One issue we had was once you pass security...there is no place to buy anything like food or coffee. Just vending machines. The restaurant upstairs is only accessible before security so remember that if you wanted a coffee in the morning.

A beautiful small airport in the heart of Whitehorse. Staff and security are friendly and courteous. It is only 5 minutes away from Whitehorse downtown. Only one drawback is the lack of any eatery in the area after security check; there are few shops with snack , drink vending machines before security check. I highly recommend opting for the Air North flight from this airport for the unbeatable money value & complimentary inflight meal services.

This airport is fairly small and doesn't necessarily have someone at the check in desks at all times. Also the security line doesn't open until 90 minutes before flight time. If you do find yourself here early, there is a secret lounge/seating area. Just go up the stairs beside the security lineup door and turn right. Plenty of outlets to charge your phone up there.
