O Buraco

Portuguese restaurant
O Buraco is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Porto, near the famous Bolhao market. With over 50 years of history, this establishment offers authentic Portuguese cuisine at reasonable prices. The menu features classic dishes such as boiled cabeca de pescada, carapaus de escabeche, and figado de cebolada. Additionally, daily specials like feijoada a Buraco and tripas a Buraco showcase regional flavors.
probably one of the best restaurants in Porto. If looking for genuine Portuguese cuiscine, this is the absolutely place. serving hours are 1200-1500, 1900 -2300, it is always fully packed, need to queue up for tables. It can seat about 70 guests, but got very few waiters so they are really busy and rushing all the time. But the kitchen is very quick. First time I went, not knowing they only serve tripa fridays and saturdays. So ending up I had the famous Portuguese sausage Alheira, which is not my cup of tea. Went again and finally had the awesome Tripas a Moda do Porto. Incredibly tasty and tender, even the rice is flavorful and well cooked. I will return again. On the 3rd visit, I had duck rice. O Buraco is definitely the best..

Incredible food. Literally the tastiest most filling chicken and salad I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding and so was the food/drinks. The highlight was the cheesecake recommended by our server, which I have thought about loads since eating. This was definitely worth the queue (only a short one).
Izi T — Google review
Got this recommendation after putting into Gemini: authentic, value for money, Portuguese traditional restaurant. This restaurant came up on top. So popular we had to wait outside to get a table. Service is better than it seems. It was full so we got a corridor table which was fine. There were more tables in the basement. Food was great. Tasty and efficient. Waiter recommended that we didn't over order as portions were generous. Ordered soups. Had the biftek and the cod buraco. Both lovely. Topped up the vinho verde with some tawny port after dessert. Came to be €65 for 2
Steven H — Google review
Great food, good price and good portion size. The menu is not big but everything we had was very good. They serve mostly fish and some meat dishes. I did not notice anything with crab, shrimp, clam or mussels. Come before 7:30 if you can or you might have to wait outside.
Bill C — Google review
Came here 3 times because I can’t find another place with better price/quality. Duck rice, fried sardines were great. Wish they can make the Wednesday special (meat and bean stew) available everyday. Service is average not that welcoming, but at least efficient.
Jem C — Google review
O Buraco offers authentic, local Portuguese cuisine that truly delights. Their bean rice and sardines are standout dishes we absolutely love. The prices are very reasonable, making it the perfect spot to enjoy genuine flavors while avoiding typical tourist traps. Don’t miss their special sangrias, available in sparkling and berry varieties, which set them apart from other places.
V C — Google review
Excellent food, big portions and fast service. The prices are very cheap and I think everything is homemade. The rice was a side dish included in the price of the fish.
Lorenzo B — Google review
We didn't have time to taste it for a longer time, but the salmon was very good, the restaurant was packed just moments after opening, which is a good sign

Taberna Dos Mercadores

Portuguese restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the charming Ribeira neighborhood, Taberna dos Mercadores is a cozy and intimate restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite its small size, the place is always bustling, so it's advisable to make reservations well in advance. The attentive staff adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features delectable dishes such as octopus specialties and grilled sea bass, complemented by an extensive selection of high-quality wines.
We had to wait for about 30-40 minutes before we got a table. The staff came out during this time and told us they can’t guarantee a place for us and that larger groups might have to sit separately. If you can reserve a table as otherwise you might not be able to taste their delicious food. We had the octopus with its rice as well as the steak with the sausage rice. We shared a mixed salad for a starter. The food arrived in time and was delicious. It was worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and polite. It’s worth a visit and with just 16 seats one of the smaller restaurants we have been. Highly recommend but be prepared either to wait or reserve a spot.
Marc S — Google review
This is a very touristy place. The space is very small and at a time only 16 people can be seated. We arrived 45 minutes before opening and were 6th in line. We tried the oven-baked octopus rice and the salt-crusted seabass. The seabass was excellent, 10/10. The oven-baked octopus rice was 7/10. The people working there are very nice. The lady who took our order told us our initial order would be too much food, which was such a kind gesture. Overall, if you have an hour to spare, I would say try this restaurant.
Samiul A — Google review
By far the best restaurant in Porto. There will be a wait so be prepared but it’s well worth it. My tip is be there early. Restaurant seats 14 people. Reminds me of the quaint restaurants in the Boston North End. The food was stunningly and delicious. I ordered the garlic shrimp, Seafood Açorda and Apple Meringue pie. All amazing and all suggested by the owner who is amazingly kind and attentive. I was a single traveler and made to feel right at home and welcomed.
Donald N — Google review
This was my favourite meal in Portugal, the food was so good! I liked the octopus rice and sea bream best, followed by the seafood rice. They have very limited seating inside (~16 seats) so there was a long wait. They opened at 12:30 and our group arrived at 12:05, and we barely missed entering in the first wave. We ended up waiting over 1.5 hours. They don’t guarantee group seating for groups larger than 2 so our group of 4 ended up getting split into 2 groups. They accept credit card.
Ellen H — Google review
We came for the second time and the most impressive dishes is the beef steak with rice! Of course, other must order dishes sea bass (with fire), clams, octopus and the potato soup. An average of 1-1.5 hours waiting time, and worth for the queue if you look for authentic and high quality of food.
V C — Google review
I arrived around 1:30pm ish and I waited about 30 mins to be seated. I was by myself and the staff/owner was so accommodating and friendly. I got the octopus dish with rice and the portion was way too generous. Apple pie was really good, nostalgic and had the right balance! Worth the wait 😊
Jisu K — Google review
The signature salt-grilled fish was really fresh, and the flame grilling was quite a show. The garlic clams were just average. We waited almost an hour and a half for a table—there are only eight tables with sixteen seats. The place doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere, but the food came out pretty quickly.
Patricia T — Google review
I would say it's a must-try if you come to Porto. The taste of octopus rice is unforgettable. The crunchy flavored rice is lovely and the octopus is soft and slightly firm with a pleasant chewiness. The size is suitable for 2 people. My friend and I had waited for an hour, and it's

Adega São Nicolau

Portuguese restaurant
Restaurant
Adega São Nicolau is a cozy and unassuming restaurant that serves up traditional Portuguese dishes with a homestyle touch. Owned by the same people as Taberna dos Mercadores, it embodies the warmth of Portuguese hospitality. The menu features classic favorites like bacalhau a Narcisa and veal steak from Arouca, but the real highlights are the seasonal specials, such as capelin stuffed with Alheira and rabbit in red wine.
Wow. Best octopus I’ve had in my life - so tender and perfectly seasoned simply with olive oil, salt and some onion and pepper. Corner sliver view of the sea, some good wine and great authentic food and service. The veal dish was also amazing. A must visit!
Heather T — Google review
Iconic location with an atmosphere that feels truly authentic. The food was exactly what you’d hope for in Porto — fresh, flavorful, and generous. The shrimps were outstanding: perfectly cooked, fresh, and rich with flavor. The grilled sardines were the ideal first-night meal in Porto — simple, traditional, and absolutely delicious. Service was excellent — quick, efficient, and very friendly. A small tip: make sure to put your name on the waitlist when you arrive, as there is almost always a queue. The system runs smoothly, and the short wait is well worth it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to dive straight into genuine Portuguese flavors and a great dining experience in the heart of Porto
Peter W — Google review
My companions and I had an excellent meal here! I tried to make reservations via phone but my call wasn’t answered. So we just went there for a late lunch, and had a wait of 20 minutes. The staff is efficient and they try to sit you asap. Once you have your table, the staff is really helpful and answers your questions. The food comes in quite fast. The octopus rice was splendid and the octopus fillet was unbelievably tender. The tripe was the highlight for me though. It was so rich, complex, and tender. I hope it was easier to get reservations, but it’s worth the wait. It was an amazing meal for our last day in Porto!
Krista A — Google review
If you want to eat something near the river side, I would pick here! Prawn was good. Sauce was with deep seafood favor. Octopus was pretty ok as well. Staff were nice. We went there for just simple food and a glass of wine then liked prawn so ordered more food to just have dinner there!!!!!

This was our second time dining here. Our first visit was with a reservation, but this time we walked in. There was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The food is amazing! I loved the oxtail stew and the Arouquesa veal steak. And don’t forget to order the orange pie for dessert it’s a must-try. The service is excellent as well. I’ll definitely be coming back every time we visit Porto!
Jam B — Google review
This was our first dinner place in Porto and it did not disappoint. You may have to wait a bit for a table, but it would be worth it. It’s close to the river but tucked away on a little narrow uphill street that lends a quaint atmosphere of authenticity to it. The portions of the mains is pretty big, I’m a hearty eater, I can really eat a lot, but the servings for one main would be good for two people, particularly if you would be doing an appetizer, and dessert after. My partner and I made the mistake of getting one main each. We tried the Tripe stew and the veal stew. Both were very rich. The tripe was tender, not gamey, and was stewed with white beans and some carrots making it a very filling dish. The veal was also very tender, perfectly seasoned, and had a moderately thick sauce perfect for sopping up with bread. We also had the croquettes for starters which were a bit too creamy inside (the outer shell was nice and crispy, and the jesuit crackers which were light and fluffy. We were very full in the end so the climb/walk up the hilly parts was a wee bit challenging but kinda welcome. Pro tip: just really think about whether you need to have two mains, best to share one.
N C — Google review
What an amazing find! The inside is like you're in a wine barrel. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable...and fun. The food was amazing. I had the Lagareiro Octopus and it was one of the best things I've eaten over my 2 weeks in Portugal. My sister had the Lagareiro cod, which was also delicious, but the octopus was outstanding. Go there - you will not be disappointed
Jen C — Google review
We had the final meal of our short break in Porto here, and a fitting finale it was. Superb food, with a friendly service in a really nice atmosphere. We shared Codfish croquettes and Octopus salad to start, both fresh and flavoursome. For mains it was Octopus fillet which came with Octopus rice, across the table it was Oxtail stew with rice. Both dishes were superb. We stumbled across this place earlier in the day, and said we'd go back later, and weren't disappointed, I would recommend anyone to try this small restaurant which is slightly off the beaten track.

Restaurant
Located in the heart of Porto, just a few minutes' walk from the Aliados metro stop, Brasão Aliados offers a traditional rural tavern atmosphere with elaborate decor. The menu features delicious francesinhas and an array of Portuguese petiscos. The attention to detail makes it a visual experience, and craft beer enthusiasts can choose from a variety of options.
We had a wonderful lunch right in the center of Porto. The food was delicious – we tried the Francesinha and Goat salad. It absolutely lived up to the hype. Rich, flavorful, and really satisfying. The service was also lovely – the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A great spot to relax and enjoy a traditional Portuguese meal. Highly recommend ⭐️
Tereza K — Google review
What an incredible experience! This place is truly amazing, with a fantastic and cozy atmosphere. We were seated on the upper floor – just watch out for the low ceilings ;) From there, we had a great view of the bustling waiters and all the tables filled with happy guests. The pleasant hum of conversation created a unique, vibrant energy. For our appetizer, we had the mushroom and asparagus dish with an egg. It was a flavor explosion—an absolute must-try! As a main course, we chose the classic Portuguese dish, francesinha, prepared in the traditional way. The portion was huge and incredibly filling, and we regretted not ordering the half-portion, as we had no room left for dessert. We didn't have a reservation, but we arrived just before the afternoon opening time. We waited for a short time in line and were given a table for an hour, which was more than enough thanks to the quick service. It was a truly fantastic dining experience! Thank you!
Anna P — Google review
we were very lucky to take the last available table walking in at 6:45pm. portion of food is large and the staff was very nice of reminding us. innovative cooking method of onion, the beef with mushroom is fabulous that not too salty. the signature dish - francesinha are mix of meat, cheese, toast with homemade sauce: recommend to order half of size to leave room for more food. drinks are decorative and with good taste. overall is a pleasant experience as our first meal in Porto!
Alison L — Google review
Apparently, this spot is known for having one of the best Francesinhas in Porto—and it truly lived up to its reputation! The meats were of great quality and tasted premium, with generous portion sizes (you can even opt for a half Francesinha if you’re not too hungry). We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the attentive service. The restaurant was full, so be sure to book a table in advance!
Shabrina H — Google review
I am visiting Porto for almost 3 years, at least 3-4 weeks a year. The best food for me is by far Francesinha. Every time I take an uber ask then what francesinha he thinks is the best, so you can imagine I ate a lot of them already. However tonight I found the place, where I can say with confidence that has the best. You need to order with bife do lombo & egg and just enjoy this magical meal. I am a Man of perfection and so was this Francesinha. 10/10 recommended
Jan M — Google review
Fantastic food! Definitely worth the 30-minute wait in the queue. We shared a Francesinha, along with a pork steak and a cod dish – all absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended to visit this place. Try to book in advance if you can. Prices are very reasonable.
Akalanka W — Google review
Excellent restaurant and service. I had a reservation for 10 pm, but they helped me get a seat at 8:20 pm. The wine was excellent, and the food was delicious. But without a doubt, the ribs are on another level; the 48-hour wine marinade makes them exquisite. We ordered half a pica, but it's really spicy. For those who don't tolerate it well, it ends up being a nuisance to finish the dish. The accompaniment was orange salad, simply fresh, juicy and sweet. The attention from the entire staff was magnificent; everyone treated us with such love. I would definitely come back.
Marwin A — Google review
Really, really great vegetarian option for the Francesinha! If you want to try this Porto staple but without the crazy amounts of meat it usually comes with, then this is your place. The veggie version is definitely not an afterthought. We shared one for two and we're absolutely full! Nice staff, but can get busy. Reservations for bigger groups than 2 definitely recommended!

Casa Guedes Tradicional

Portuguese restaurant
Casa Guedes Tradicional is a beloved spot in Porto run by two sets of siblings who have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight here is the famous smoked pork loin sandwich, best enjoyed with a glass of the local green wine called espadal. Additionally, homemade french fries are also recommended. Recently, Casa Guedes expanded with a new location that offers traditional Portuguese dishes and signature cocktails alongside the iconic sandwiches.
I’ve eaten here several times and it never disappoints. The roasted pork sandwiches, cod cakes, and croquettes are always tasty—especially when washed down with a cold Super Bock. Sitting outside is perfect for people watching. Life is good!
Jim B — Google review
We are not experts on bifanas, but definitely their bifana sandwiches here are great! Great quality, combinations and taste! The menu is exactly what should be. Overall excellent experience. This restaurant is a "must" for anyone visiting Porto!
Panos A — Google review
We serendipitously had lunch here. This is one of the finest restaurants in Porto. The personnel were amicable and well-informed. They patiently elucidated the diverse dishes. The cuisine was undoubtedly superb and delectable. You should sample the abade prisco at least once to explore the flavors of Portugal.
Jack C — Google review
This was the first time we ordered patatas bravas on this trip and they were delicious. We ended up getting them every place we went and by the end of the trip the ones here were still my favorite. My friend loved the pork croquettes and actually asked for me after our meal because she loved them so much. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu has a lot of options!
Kara S — Google review
Sofia recommended me local tastes.I had traditional soup, codfish cake, octopus with potato and espresso and desert. Terrace is a chill place with music. I really enjoyed my visit.
Atahan C — Google review
Food was okay, Pork knuckle was really tasty, falling out of bone, do delicious, however side dish that you get with it was also good but portion is very small and not in proportion with the meat where you get really good amount of it. Other dish however, was nothing special, bacalar with egg and vegetables. It had some tomato taste which is fine but overall lacking some spices or something. Position of restaurant is nice, on the street.
Katarina M — Google review
Since I moved to Portugal, it has been my dream to try chorizo cooked over fire. And it just so happened that during this trip to Porto, when I remembered about it, we were right next to a place with a good rating and lots of reviews. The chorizo turned out just as I imagined — first a little fire show, and then juicy chorizo with cold beer — everything you need to enjoy the last sunny days. But be careful: if it’s windy outside, you’ll get a dose of fear along with your dish when the flames start blowing in your direction.
Polina M — Google review
I genuinely don’t get the hype of this place — the food was super cold, flavourless and the price per quality is off (9,90€ for a prego with Brie and 5,90€ for a small glass of wine is exorbitant). They get an extra star for the super nice staff and incredible roof top terrace, but overall not worth it!

Tucked away in the Bonfim neighborhood of Porto, A Cozinha do Manel is a beloved traditional restaurant that has been serving up delectable dishes for over 30 years. The cozy dining room, adorned with granite and tiles, offers a warm welcome to patrons. The menu features mouthwatering starters like alheira assada and queijo da Serra, followed by hearty mains such as wood-fired lamb and fish.
Absolutely amazing! A little bit of a stroll from the city centre of Porto but well worth it. Best Codfish dish I've ever had and the tenderloin was absolutely perfect too. Very nice staff and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to try authentic Portugese food when in Porto.

Great traditional Portuguese food. Went here for lunch on a Sunday without reservation, got a seat at the bar. Service was very friendly and efficient. Had the roast lamb with potatoes and rice - so good! Lamb was juicy and full of flavour.

What a delicious experience! We were lucky to have come upon this restaurant as it was next door to our hotel. The menus offered just enough options and variety. Delicious wine and exceptional food and service. You will not want to miss you on this dining experience when in Porto! Reservations needed!

Off the hook amazing food atmosphere and service! Go. Just stop reading and make reservations. Veal is fantastic. Enough for two. Duck rice is also great. We order red wine from Douro, salad, cod app and Milk from heaven with cookie. Not sure what else I could possibly say than just go here and find out what real Portuguese cuisine and hospitality is like. Love this place!

A quaint, well-maintained restaurant with traditional azulejo tiles and frequented by locals, a sign of quality. The service is friendly and helpful. The menu features characteristic dishes, beautifully presented and generous portions, and the wine list is excellent. Prices are in keeping with the ambiance. The veal is exceptional, and the hake is incredibly fresh. Although it's not in the city center, it's located across from the subway.

Great local food. You’ll leave with a full belly. Just know that the appies and garlic toast are not free and will be charged to your bill so you might as well eat it.

The famous goat was a disappointment. The three person portion was mostly bone, meat tasted a bit bitter, otherwise rather tasteless. Texture wasn't as soft as i would expect it to be based on roasted goat experience i had elsewhere. Not worth the price

Mercado do Bolhão is a historic, two-level market housed in a neoclassical building that opened in central Porto in 1917. It has become an iconic city landmark with its charming faded grandeur and family-run stalls offering fresh produce, meats, fish, sausages, flowers, and local crafts. Visitors can enjoy a multisensory experience as they wander through narrow corridors filled with colorful sights and enticing aromas.
This market was absolutely excellent! The variety of food on offer is incredible everything from dried and fresh foods to vibrant fruits, drinks, and even plants. There were plenty of samples to taste, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a real feast for the senses and a great spot to explore. Definitely a must-see, and a perfect place to stop for a delicious lunch. Highly recommended!
Duncan A — Google review
It’s a huge market that has everything from meat, fish, wine, and souvenirs to artist market. It’s directly connected to the train station so you can access it quite easily. It definitely has an element of tourist trap with certain dishes and goods, but I also saw plenty of locals simply grocery shopping. I personally loved the seafood and the ham. They also have insanely cheap glasses of wine so be careful if you’re going to be drinking! But it’s a must visit place for me in Porto
Scott L — Google review
Mercado do Bolhão is one of the highlights of Porto and a must-visit if you want to experience the city’s flavours in one place. The market is spotless, beautifully restored, and full of life. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by stalls offering fresh fish, fragrant olives, local olive oils, fresh fruit, fruit juices, meats, and brilliantly packed sardines that make perfect gifts. We purchased some olives and a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them right there in the market. Walking around with a glass of crisp wine while tasting the olives and chatting with vendors felt both authentic and relaxing. The fishmongers and food stalls are a delight to explore, and you will also find stores selling handicrafts, so it really has a little bit of everything. What stood out most to me was the balance between tradition and modern comfort. You get the energy of a traditional Portuguese market, but in a clean, organised, and welcoming space. Whether you come to taste, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere, Mercado do Bolhão is worth your time.
Ali M — Google review
Lovely indoor market with a wide range of produce aimed mainly at tourists. Fabulous to be able to buy a glass of wine etc in a real glass and wander around the stalls. Places to sit and eat the wide range of foods available. Stall holders were very pleasant and helpful. Good range of products that are hard to source at home and generally good vfm. What was disappointing was that none of the foods on sale were out for you to sample. It’s the first market I have visited where this was the case. Usually there are plates with little samples on so you can taste before you buy. Very clean and everything very well presented.
Elviera L — Google review
This is an amazing market set over two levels of a square building with an open entrée. There are two galleries that run around the edges which have shops selling jewelry, ceramics, handbags, and other examples of Portuguese cross friendship. The bottom level is dedicated to foods, beverages, flowers, and other produce, including meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. This is a fantastic building and worthy of a visit.
G M — Google review
Sa e some time for a visit to this market. Stunning array of cured meets and seafood ready for tasting. Wine of course too. I had some of the largest oysters to eat. Easy to find and right off from the metro.
Jan B — Google review
This is a must visit place in Porto. A large indoor marketplace with restaurants housed in a renovated old building. There is a lot to see and to taste. Vegetables, fruit and fresh juice, fresh fish, famous canned sardines, special coffee, olive oil and olives, flowers, wines including port of course, perfumes and hand-made souvenirs to buy. Often, you can meet a performing artist (or a group).

This is a great local market featuring fresh seafood and diverse offerings. Just be aware that the operating hours for the restaurants on the top floor are separate from the main market's closing time.

Cafe
Café Santiago is a laid-back dining spot renowned for its delectable egg-topped sandwiches and hearty comfort fare, along with a selection of beers. The star of the menu is the Francesinha, Portugal's take on the croque-monsieur, featuring layers of cured ham, smoke-cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika, chipolata, roast meat smothered in melted cheese and sometimes topped with a fried egg.
We had the steak sandwich and had it split into two portion just add €1+. I can’t remember. But you’d get extra eggs and fries as it’s split to two plates. Well worth it as we’re not big eaters plus we then get to order another dish! Service was fast and prompt. We were early so no queue for us.

I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy an authentic francesinha, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the service: the staff was unprofessional and overly familiar, calling me "my love" and touching my arm, which made me uncomfortable. I don't know if it is part of portuguese culture but a more respectful and professional attitude would be greatly appreciated as a tourist. As for the food, while I understand that francesinha is a local specialty and many people love it, it wasn’t to my personal taste. However, I respect that this might just be a matter of preference. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience, mainly due to the service.
Caroline ( — Google review
Good afternoon, I had dinner here today. And I am very disappointed. At first glance, the food looked good. But the reality was completely different. The meat smelled slightly off, but more importantly, it wasn't cooked through. I didn't finish my meal and reported everything to the waiter. I was asked if I wanted the meat cooked further. I said no, because there wasn't much left. Then the waiter took the food away and that was it. I find it really outrageous to serve someone raw meat and not even apologise, let alone make the customer pay the full amount. I understand that this can happen sometimes, but the staff's reaction must be different!!!!

Francesinha is a Porto classic, and around Café Santiago you’ll find several places specializing in it. This restaurant, with entrances from both Rua de Santo Ildefonso and Rua de Passos Manuel, clearly takes its Francesinha seriously — it’s offered in several variations. As one reviewer said perfectly: “I’m glad I tried it, but I don’t need to try it again.” It’s definitely an acquired taste, but hearty and filling — arrive hungry. My wife had Bacalhau à Braga, which was nicely prepared, and we finished with Aletria — a dessert made from thin noodles simmered in sweet milk and dusted with cinnamon. Service was friendly and quick, rounding out a solid local experience.

Tried the famous francesinha at Café Santiago and it delivered. Rich, hearty, and indulgent, with a perfectly balanced spicy beer sauce. The portion is generous, the meat is tender, and the melted cheese blanket is pure comfort. Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. If you are in Porto and want to try the city’s signature dish, this is the place. Go hungry.

Incredibly delicious francesinha. Came here solo and immediately got a seat at the bar. Short wait for the sandwich. The sauce is delicious and comforting, and the meats with bread are amazing. Tastes much better than it looks! Place was packed, expect to wait with 2+ people. Service was friendly and efficient

Francesinha baked in a wood oven! Ordered the Francesinha Santiago - Bife do Lombo, that upgrades the beef to siloin, also for that price comes already included the fried egg and the french fries. Aletria for desert, it was also top notch! Delicious! with a Café were both the perfect send off!

Went there after seeing all the positive reviews and was highly disappointed. We ordered francesinhas and caldo verde. When the francesinhas came out it looked really good at first look. However the sandwich itself was not hot and lukewarm at best. Both the fries and the bread was very stale.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Pedro Lemos is a renowned restaurant located in a historic building in Foz do Douro, Porto. The establishment spans two floors, featuring a charming ground floor with a wine cellar and an upper floor with a cosmopolitan ambiance. The restaurant offers three tasting menus, including a vegetarian option, showcasing fresh local and regional ingredients. With its Michelin star status, Pedro Lemos is considered one of the city's best dining spots.
Superb restaurant. We visited Porto just for Pedro Lemos, and it was absolutely worth it. The service, the atmosphere, and out of this world food. We tried the tasting menu, and every part of it was just perfect. I cannot say enough about the food, it just needs to be experienced. The staff were very friendly, especially our server Katarina, who went above and beyond, and to top it all off: on our way out, the head chef - Pedro Lemos himself - came out to say "hello." This is what I call a perfect experience.

On our first night in Porto, we arrived at Pedro Lemos with our suitcases. Instead of being judgmental about our situation as we’ve had a long day and wasn’t able to stop at the hotel without being extremely late to dinner, they took our luggage with grace. We first sat down in their “waiting room” where we started with small bites. Afterwards, we entered the main dining room. The restaurant was beautifully designed and we learned that they had just recently moved into the space. It truly was a work of art. Instead of doing the regular tasting menu, we opted into the al la carte menu with 2 appetizer, one entree and dessert each. We wanted to try more of their dishes than just both having the tasting menu. The flavors of each taste were delicious and perfectly made. I can see why they received their one Michelin star. Would highly recommend for your dining experience in Porto.

Dining at Pedro Lemos was one of the highlights of my trip to Portugal. From the moment we walked in, the place felt special—warm, welcoming, and full of charm. What really made the night unforgettable was getting to meet Chef Pedro himself. He was so down-to-earth and genuinely took the time to chat with us, which made the experience feel even more personal. I have a few food allergies, which usually makes eating out a bit nerve-wracking, but the team here couldn’t have been more accommodating. They took everything seriously and still managed to serve dishes that were creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I felt totally looked after the entire evening, which meant so much. It’s not every day you find a place where the food is outstanding and the people are just as amazing. Pedro Lemos is more than just a fine dining spot—it’s an experience made with heart. I can’t recommend it enough.

Excellent service that you would expect from a mission rated restaurant. I would say the service quality is more akin to three Michelin stars than one. We did the eight moments set course. It was delicious. For a one Michelin star restaurant I would say this exceeded expectations. If this was a three Michelin star restaurant I would say it's below expectations. One of the appetizers (with the spider crab) was amazing, and the squab and squid dishes were fantastic. The lobster and red snapper dishes were good but not special. However, The restaurant is intimate and fancy. However, it was also a bit boring and lacked energy. Loud the music was very slow. I wouldn't expect loud music or a bustling atmosphere, but it was very much on the low energy. Overall, we had a very nice experience.

The dining experience at Pedro Lemos' Porto riverfront location exceeded expectations on all fronts when we tried their 7-course tasting menu. Every course impressed, including the surpise palette of welcome bites served at the reception lounge, but the blue lobster and amberjack courses were standouts. Truly exceptional execution all around, impeccable service from the moment you walk in, and a spotless but unpretentious ambience. A must try!

Fantastic food served by warm-hearted, kind and professional people in a beautiful venue. Focusing on a tasting menu with local produce, fish and with mostly local wines in the pairing, it was a wonderful introduction to Portuguese fine dining.

PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE. Birthday dinner was a success. Food, service, and atmosphere is why it rightfully has its Michelin backing. Pictures don’t do it justice Food: Chef Pedro’s understanding of sauce and flavor profiles comes out in every dish. Each item on your plate is able to shine in its own light, while intertwining with the rest of the dish to bring you a masterful experience be in each bite. Also the vegetarian tasting menu (partner is vegetarian) is a unique option for fine dining and did not disappoint- one of her all time favorites Service: every single member of the team worked in lockstep to make sure you were taken care of from the moment you walk in. Celebrated my birthday here and they went above and beyond. Atmosphere: intimate experience, comfortable seats, great decor. Would gladly go again, night after night.

Celebrated our anniversary in Porto with an extraordinary 12-course dining experience at Pedro Lemos after months on the waiting list. It was absolutely worth it! The food was superb, the ambiance magnificent, and the service outstanding. Definitely one of the best Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve ever experienced! 🌟✨ highly recommended!

Portuguese restaurant
Restaurant
Restaurante Cantina 32 is a laid-back and popular spot among the trendy locals, offering two sittings to reflect the Mediterranean way of life. The restaurant features large communal tables as well as smaller spots for more intimate dining. The menu includes large terracotta sharing dishes such as roast octopus with sweet potatoes and modern twists on classic Portuguese plates like fresh pink tuna with pineapple and seafood and chorizo stew.
Excellent. Squid and portobello appetizer is excellent. The bread with banana butter is very good. Octopus is a must. We ate here 3 times. Everything we tried was great. Reasonable prices. Make a reservation as they fill up fast. They open at 6:30 and the line starts at 6:15. Reservations are at 7. The sangria is great and a lot of wine choices. Felix and John were very helpful. Make sure to save room for wonderful desserts. We liked the chocolate cake, cheesecake, and carrot cake. Cappuccino was very good. Bathrooms were very clean.

Dropped by for lunch. We were just walking around Porto soaking in the atmosphere and saw that this restaurant had a decent rating. There was a line to get in , but that was because they were just opening. We were not so hungry so ordered the Portugese stew of Squid and Shrimp. The quailty of the ingredients was fine. But the sauce was brought in a separate jug and poured over. This left the squid and shrimp tasting very bland .The menu said the dish was for two persons but we were still hungry. A little pricey for what we were served. We went down to the Mercado and had something to eat and drink there! We wanted to order dessert but decided to go somewhere else.

Excellent octopus! Very tasty. Nice presentation. Price quality for octopus also good. The othet things were a bit on the expensive side. Especially the tuna appetizer. And the salad (lettuce) which was literally a quarter lettuce with dome cheese but almost 4€. The alheir crockets on the other hand were very nice and tasty really like alhier sausage. The banana butter, olives and bread were part of the curvert (2.50 pp). They were of good quality but we were a bit dissapointed that we got the same amount of bread butter and olices with the 5 of us as other people that were with a party of 2. (The banana butter tasted really like banana and was tasty as well.) We couldnt order a big bottle of water to share (nor still nor sparkling) only small bottles. The ambience was very nice. All in all. Nice restaurant for octopus. A bit on the expensive side. Service could be a bit more generouz looking at the water and the curvert.

Every visit to Cantina 32 was an absolute delight. The food is delicious and carefully prepared, and the service is truly exceptional – attentive, kind, and professional. We returned three nights in a row because we felt so welcome, and by the second evening, the staff even greeted us by name, which was a wonderfully personal touch. A special mention goes to John, our waiter, who was always polite, attentive, and truly professional. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a refined and welcoming dining experience in Porto.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Cantina 32, thanks in large part to the incredibly kind and helpful manager, Felix, who went out of his way to find us a table when my father expressed how much he wanted to dine there. The food exceeded all expectations—the iceberg lettuce salad with salmon was easily one of the most delicious salads we’ve ever had, with perfectly balanced flavors and generous portions. The squid stew was equally outstanding—fresh, rich, and full of depth. We finished with their signature cheesecake, which is an absolute must. The ambiance is second to none—an industrial chic setting that still manages to feel warm and calming. It was our best night in Porto, and we’ll definitely return on our next visit. Thank you, Felix and the entire Cantina 32 team!

The prawn dish was absolutely delicious, and the polpo comes as a whole octopus. The banana butter served with the bread was really amazing.

Transportation infrastructure
Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, located in Porto, is a modern and airy terminal that efficiently handles both international and domestic flights. With its stunning architecture featuring high ceilings and bright windows, the airport creates a welcoming atmosphere for travelers. Despite being smaller than some major airports, it boasts an organized layout that allows for easy navigation without the chaos often found in larger hubs. The facilities are well-maintained and cater to passenger needs effectively.
Very well organised and well managed airport with great facilities and food outlets. However, most of the stuff at duty free shops, perfumes and liquor, are a bit overpriced. These items can be bought cheaper outside.

Porto’s airport was nicely laid out, smooth and easy to use. We arrived and departed the plane to the tarmac (no jetway) - clear signage to exit. Upon departure, the upper departure drop-off area was very busy, but worked well (first 10 min is free). Not surprisingly, the path from security checkpoint to the departure gates goes through the duty-free shop and there are lots of shops to buy all sorts of items & food. Downsides: very limited seating in the departure gates, and only a few restrooms so lines were pretty bad. Might have been busy time, but the cleanliness of the restrooms could have been better.
Peter E — Google review
The airport itself is nice although we had a poor experience doing baggage drop with TAP (Air Portugal). Massive queue. No one managing the queue for ages until they realised people would miss flights then they began to sort it. Staff at drop off nice though. Security check normal pace. The shops have a definite mark up over buying souvenirs and food in Porto itself, so don't wait to buy at the airport. Great little play area for kids near Gate 35.
Natalie B — Google review
A decent airport and it has plenty of places beyond security to grab food n drink while you wait for your plane. The airport itself is not a very large one which leads to much reduced walking times to the gates compared to the huge airports of many European capital cities. The security luggage checking area never seems to take very long and I don't remember ever being delayed there
Geoff A — Google review
Wow, what a beautiful and effective airport! You can fill your water bottle after security or the bathroom taps (its cold water and long line at the water station). Lots of places to relax and watch the sunset (!) over the ocean. Only thing missing is bag drop where you just do the check in and drop your bag and head to security with no waiting - you’ll still need to check in at a desk that opens two hours before your flight, so not much point in coming much earlier than that. Check in and security was fast though.

Passport control slow, facility busy and not very clean flush bottom don’t touch it, city transport perfect not need to pay for taxi 5£ for the train, the tranvía is very slow to be honest but fir the price is ok, don’t get out the airport to take the train is inside guys just check the sign on the floor and fallow it.
Berto A — Google review
Smaller airport, only one cafe or restaurant to have refreshments before check in. A lot of places to sit and wait for your check in is ready. Inside close to boarding gates there are fast food, cafes and restaurants.

The bathrooms were flooded with water. There were not enough water filling stations. Wifi works fine.
