Armando al Pantheon

Roman restaurant
Armando al Pantheon is a long-standing restaurant in the Pigna neighborhood, just a few steps from Piazza Navona. It offers hearty, traditional Roman fare in a wood-paneled dining room. The restaurant provides an unforgettable outdoor dining experience with the iconic Pantheon as a backdrop. Chef Claudio Gargioli's unique culinary creations add clever twists to honest classics, making it an exciting destination for food enthusiasts.
100% worth securing a reservation 1 month in advance. The food was incredible and service was top-notch. I took one bite of their veal special they were offering that night and it took me back to my Grandparents kitchen. Highly recommend this spot for dinner. Also worth mentioning: they received a Michelin Star back in 2017!
Joey F — Google review
We have been trying to get a table at Armando’s for several years on every trip to Rome. This year we finally managed to get a reservation and albeit it was for a late time - 10:00PM - we were excited to be able to finally taste the food at this famed restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and sat at our table and quickly serviced by our waiter. We started our meal off with the appetizer of the day which was lamp organs with sautéed chicory and served on a fresh bun. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Off to a good start. For our main course we ordered the Roman traditional Rigatoni all’amatriciana (my wife’s favorite) and for my self the daily special which was a cooked veal dish plus a couple sides. When the food arrived it looked nicely prepared but unfortunately with the very first bite disappointment struck. My veal dish was way overcooked which made the meat very dry. So much so that the flavor and moisture of the sauce and the ricotta got lost in it. While my wife enjoyed her dish, having taken a few bites of her pasta I also found the Guanciale to be over fried and charred (my wife likes it that way) leaving a bitter taste. The side dishes were good however. Nevertheless, I had high expectations for this place based on what I have heard from friends and read in reviews and felt let down despite the good parts. The mistakes made were too big and essential. Knowing that I likely won’t be able to revisit to give it another shot I’m left feeling cheated out of an experience that should have been one of the highlights from this trip. It is worth noting: We had a group of friends that had been able to secure a lunch table a couple days later. We recommended to stick to their staple dishes like Carbonara and the Osso Buco. They shared with us afterwards that the meal and overall experience was great. I hope to revisit the place in the future and to be able to share a better review next time around.

Terrific restaurant right next to the Pantheon. It is very popular so you must make a reservation when the date become available 1 month in advance. A kine forms outside before it opens but people with reservations are seated first so dont worry if you are way down the line. The restaurant is very nice inside and quiet which was great. The service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food was very good as well as the local Chianti. We had Lambs heart, liver and lung on a roll, grilled lamb shanks and rigatoni alla amatriciana.
Robert U — Google review
We were looking forward to our reservation at this restaurant (reservations definitely necessary if possible). We ultimately tried just two dishes. The pasta itself was very well done, however the sauce was not very flavourful. The Roman lamb (abbachio allo scottadito) was fantastic though - definitely recommend. The food and drinks are all quite pricey (as you might imagine in central Rome) in addition to service and water charges.
Mike B — Google review
We were very lucky that the waiter made a plan for us without having a reservation, as this is must. And then we tasted the best carbonara ever, and the house wine and prosecco was just special and amazing. Traditional Roman menu! Everything was tasty and delicious. And the staff just friendly and really great service.
Ronwyn M — Google review
Fabulous restaurant next to the Pantheon (obviously). MUST reserve a month ahead exactly. Strangely when we arrived there was a sign saying "fully booked" but restaurant was not full. They must know their limits and cook amazing food for a limited crowd. I would not choose outdoor seating which requires an email. The atmosphere inside is lovely. Outside is a little chaotic. Best Rigatoni all' Amatriciana we had in Rome, period. Crispy guanciale, perfectly toothy rigatoni. Carbonara and cacio e Pepe also both perfection. Our appetizers were lovely, a tomato bread with bufala mozzarella, and anchovies over cooked greens. Amazing wine at a reasonable price recommended by the sommelier. Wish we could go back. Just outstanding.
Dashiell E — Google review
I’d been wanting to try this restaurant ever since I saw it mentioned in several blogs and social media posts. There are two ways to eat here: either you book a table weeks in advance, or line up before the restaurant opens for lunch and hope there’s still a table left after the reservations. The second option is a bit risky — the line gets long, and not everyone gets in. The restaurant is right across from the Pantheon, with a simple decor. We ordered two classics: rigatoni all’amatriciana and carbonara, paired with two glasses of red wine (one full-bodied, one medium-bodied). The guanciale in the amatriciana was crispy and served in larger pieces, though the dish itself was a bit on the salty side. The carbonara had a creamy, well-balanced sauce. Overall, the pasta was delicious — maybe not the absolute best we’ve had, but definitely worth trying. Service is quite slow, so be patient — our dishes took about 40 minutes to arrive.
Deniz Y — Google review
I saw the restaurant on Stanley Tucci's TV show. Booking a table was challenging due to the popularity of the place. I finally got a table for lunch. The place was cozy and the service was good. The wine and amatriciana were really good. I definitely recommend the place!

Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto

Roman restaurant
Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto is a charming spot located in the residential Monteverde area of Rome. This trattoria embodies the true essence of Italian dining with its unpretentious atmosphere and authentic, carefully crafted dishes. Run by the husband-wife team of Leonardo Vignoli and Maria Pia Cicconi, this place offers a delightful array of Roman antipasti, homemade pastas, meat and fish dishes, complemented by a selection of local wines.
The food is Roman style and the quality of the food it’s good. maybe the place it’s a bit noisy and owner should fix the acoustic. But this is bearable. We had a nice evening between old school friend and the environment it’s ok for such occasion. It’s second time we come here and not dissatisfied

Soo good, we came for dinner on a recommendation and it was delicious! Book one week in advance via their website. Everything was so good; we had fresh homemade mozzarella, fried meatballs with pesto, carbonara and oxtail sauce pasta, and tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert! Highly recommend :)
Meg L — Google review
We finally made it to Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto for a long-awaited Sunday lunch after dreaming about it for a year. This place is a true Roman institution, run like a well-oiled machine, with a lively, family-filled atmosphere that feels authentic and welcoming. The wine list is excellent—we especially loved our exquisite bottle of Etna Bianco. We enjoyed the supplì, squash blossoms, gricia, and ravioli, each dish showcasing the comforting flavors of Roman cooking. Watching families with babies gather around big Sunday meals added to the charm of the experience. Overall, a solid and memorable Roman lunch—classic, reliable, and full of energy.
Tanya C — Google review
Had a nice dinner here though my expectations were very high as the restaurant has excellent reviews, unfortunately I was a little let down. Actually it was rather nice to travel outside the city center, Cesare is extremely close to the final stop of the 8 tram and you get to see much more of the city and where people live coming here. Dinner started with a very nice basket of bread and we shared the eggplant croquettes and calamari fritti. The croquettes were interesting, with a nice spicy tomato sauce offset with mint. The calamari were outstanding, extremely well done. For our mains, I had the gnocchi with oxtail sugo which was really disappointing. The sauce was deep and delicious, and the gnocchi very well made however totally under salted. I wonder if they are used to salting this dish with pasta water when the rigatoni is selected? I needed to add cheese AND salt just to coax some flavor. I do like salty, though. My companions had Amitriciana and Gricia. Both were very good however an alarming amount of guanciale was used in the gricia and my companion said that is was too much and the balance of the dish was off because of it. We were a bit put off by the waiters constantly trying to remove our dishes. Like, fork still in hand and BOOM can I take your plate now? Then you have to wait 15 minutes for the bill haha. Well no one is perfect for sure. Overall it was a good experience and I’m happy we went and wish them many years of success!
Matthew P — Google review
Our main dishes of the evening were rigatoni alla Matriciana (that’s how it was spelled), gnocchi alla coda vaccinara and tonnarelli a la gricia. These were delicious with noted qualifications that the guanciale pieces with the tonnarelli were judged too large (!), the gnocchi were assessed under-salted while the coda vaccinara sauce seemed a little thin, and my serving of rigatoni was enormous (no complaint there). Read more at: https://www.painperdutravel.com It was a very successful evening and an excellent meal for 3 at only 81 euros.

The Heart of Roman Trattoria Dining Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars Stepping into Da Cesare al Casaletto felt like stepping into the quintessential Roman experience. This is more than just a restaurant; it is a living, breathing trattoria with a typical Roman spirit that envelops. The Authentic Experience: The menu is a showcase of typical Roman dishes—the classics like Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, Gricia are all executed to almost perfection. Every plate arrives hot, bursting with authentic flavor, and prepared with a dedication to tradition that will truly satisfy every palate. Adding to the wonderful authenticity, the staff is staff is nice, warm, attentive, and helpful. Wine & Verdict: Beyond the food, the wine list is excellent. It is extensive, thoughtfully curated, and focuses on quality, value, and artisanal/natural wines, offering great pairings for the hearty Roman cuisine. While one can certainly find more expensive restaurants of comparable food quality in Rome, Da Cesare al Casaletto offers a combination of authenticity, traditional food, an excellent wine selection. If you are in the area, this place indeed deserves a visit. It is a genuine taste of Rome that you will not forget. Assolutamente fantastico!

The carbonara is absolutely amazing!!! It’s so creamy! The tonnarelli ai frutti di mare also very delicious, it tastes so fresh! 100% recommen!!

Wonderful ppace with great food and service. We had the pizza rossa, veal roll and seafood pasta, finished with the desert selection. Best food I've had in Rome. Very friendly staff, they made smaller portions of the fried gnocchi and beef croquettas for us to try; both well made.

Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina

Italian restaurant
Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina is a bustling destination in Rome that offers an array of culinary delights. It transforms from a deli to an A-list restaurant during mealtime, with tables set against the cheese counter and a selection of remarkable Italian and foreign wines. The menu features exceptional dishes such as the renowned carbonara and delightful burrata, along with local and Spanish cured pork, and Cecina de Leon.
My partner and I enjoyed a truly delicious meal featuring Cacio e Pepe - a simple yet exquisite pasta dish with the perfect harmony of cheese and pepper. Alongside it, we were served a selection of fresh breads that complemented the flavours. The restaurant’s location adds a distinctive charm to the overall experience, and it’s clearly a favourite among diners. I’d recommend booking well in advance. Despite the busy atmosphere, our waiter was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Service was prompt, yet never rushed, which made the evening feel relaxed and well-paced. To finish, I had ice cream while my partner opted for a meringue cake. We were also treated to a few biscuits with rich chocolate sauce for dipping. It was a delightful and indulgent end to a memorable meal.

I first came here over ten years ago and recall the food and service being good, so I decided to take my wife here for lunch during our recent visit to Rome. Unfortunately, the restaurant has changed quite a bit, and not for the better. We arrived a little early and were told by a lady with a clipboard that we needed to wait outside until our reservation before being seated. What followed was a roll call of sorts where we were treated as though we were being granted entry to some sort of exclusive nightclub. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the walls are adorned with all sorts of wines and spirits. It’s a little cramped inside, but that’s part of the charm, I suppose. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t live up to the slightly pretentious air of the place. While it was decent enough, it certainly wasn’t worth the price, as we spent over 40 euros a head for a couple of small starters and two bowls of pasta. My tagliatelle ragu was dressed with an excessive amount of pecorino romano which overpowered the flavour of the sauce. The restaurant could save money on ingredients and improve the taste of the pasta by using it more sparingly in future. The tiramisu was also fine, but nothing special. Overall, this place simply isn’t worth the money. In the evening, we went to Kung Fu Express for dinner and the food was half the price and twice as good.

Highly recommend to experience proper Italian and Roman food. Entertaining to sit by the counter too and watch the chefs prepare the platters. Trippa and pasta dishes were perfect! Staff was extremely helpful and suggested and explained everything to us! Best to book in advance though as it’s very popular for obvious reasons.

It was hands down the best of the best from this entire trip. If you’re in Rome, this place is an absolute must-go! The Parma ham I had here was honestly the best thing I ate during my whole vacation — truly unforgettable. The wine list and every single dish were just amazing, absolutely mind-blowing. The place is always busy and full of energy, and the servers are constantly on the move, but that’s part of its charm. I’ll definitely be coming back multiple times next time I’m in Rome. The food here is something I’ll never forget! It just became my and hubby’s fav restaurant in the world💛
April — Google review
Food is pretty good, albeit completely overpriced. My carbonara came out cold, with almost no sauce. The tripe and foie gras was good, as well as the prosciutto and tiramisu. Service was a mixed bag, our waiter told us there is no gluten free bread even though there was and we had to ask someone else to get it. Also, if you get seated at the counter clients will come in and order stuff to go over your table which is a bit weird.
Jernej B — Google review
This place is incredible! The atmosphere, the food and the staff make for an unforgettable night out. We were a group of 8 people (adults and teenagers) and sat in the downstairs room. Fabio, our waiter, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole experience a wonderful night out. You need to book well in advance to secure a table - it is well worth a visit and their sister store is the place to visit for pastries / lunch.
Emma T — Google review
An Italian friend recommended this, saying it was the best carbonara she’d ever had. And she wasn’t wrong. We had reservations for 2.30pm - the only slot they had! - but we got there about 1pm and the lady at the door very kindly seated us. The service was brilliant, with recommendations for wine from the lovely waiter (who even let me try out my rubbish Italian with him) and lovely little complimentary touches like a savoury amuse bouche and teeny churros with chocolate sauce. This was the highlight of our trip to Rome but you will need to book - and well in advance!
Julie A — Google review
Make resys 3 months in advance. It's worth it! The service is great, the food is top notch. Prices are extremely reasonable. We ordered a couple of things we normally would not get because, well... when in Rome! There was 4 of us, we had 2 apps, 4 entrees, 1 dessert and 6 drinks, the bill was 244€. This was our 2nd visit and we are coming back before we head home. The oxtail stuffed zucchini flowers were the stand out favorite of the whole table. 10/10.

Bonci Pizzarium

Mentioned on
+5 other lists
$$$$affordable
Pizza Takeout
Bonci Pizzarium is not your typical restaurant in Vatican City. It's a small street-food shop that offers a unique combination of bakery and pizzeria, serving some of the best food in the area. Their specialty lies in crafting authentic Roman lunch with versatile toppings like porcini mushrooms and salted pork fat on their square pizzas, which are true to Roman street foods.
Pizza was delicious but there was quite a wait until we got it, lots of people lined up but at least you get a ticket and just wait for your number to be called. One thing I wish the staff didn’t do, is place the meat pizzas right next to the meat free pizzas, as vegetarians we opted out from picking a pizza I really wanted to try because after the potato pizza was half way done, they put the potato pizza right next to a salami one where I could see the meat touching. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly, but I did want to share that feedback! We came here after watching the Netflix episode of the Table on Bonci, and we were glad to have gotten to experience this!
Leen S — Google review
I was lucky enough to be in Rome the day Bonci reopened, and I’d heard so much about it from foodie friends that I was really excited to finally try it. The pizza was good, with unique flavor combinations, though not quite the mind-blowing experience I was expecting. The meatball slice I ordered was actually served cold as it wasn’t warmed up enough, but the flavors still came through nicely. Overall, while it didn’t completely wow me, I’d still recommend a visit—especially given how highly it’s regarded by friends I trust as serious pizza lovers. Flavor
Abdullah — Google review
Overall good place to try if you wanna try different types of pizzas and not your typical crust - in a good way! Service takes a bit of time due to the way they operate and there’s very little seating so make sure you plan to takeaway if you want to sit to eat. The vibe is hip and fun and the servers were kind.
Karolyn J — Google review
This place was very hyped up for being the best pizza in Rome. Safe to say, it was very far from it. The queue ahead of us took over an hour, so we just went to get a coffee and came back. The pizza did look good, but unfortunately it lacked a bit of flavour and was not warm. The arancini was actually pretty solid, but overall not quite worth the wait. Prices are slightly steeper, but the total was 30 which was too much for 2, basically 15 a person which is very fair. Theres super limited seating, very overcrowded and loud. They do play some good music which was appreciated. Theres not much to do in the area around either. Would not recommend to trek for.
Petarcho — Google review
We ordered Supplì Classico and Carbonara — both were amazing! After that, we tried two different pizzas, and they were really tasty too. We also had two beers with the meal, and the total was 35.58 euros.
Bahattin Ç — Google review
It’s a style of pizza unique to the area and one I’m not accustomed to, so I may not be best suited to rate it. But, in general, it seemed pricey and overhyped for what it was. I thought the suppli was good and the service excellent, but the pizza is not something I’d go back for.
Bob — Google review
I absolutely didn’t like this place. For the first time in Italy, I left my food unfinished because it was so bad. The service was unpleasant, and the staff were rude. There weren’t even any labels showing what kind of pizza it was. I strongly do not recommend this place. And it’s really expensive- one slice of pizza approximately 10 euros. And as well there is no place to sit so we had to eat outside standing. Huge disappointment.
Anna L — Google review
Take a number for the pizza at the door. The food was great and I would recommend if want roman style pizza. No dine in just take out. They might skip your number but just remind them if they do. They'll make sure they get to you. It is quite busy but worth the wait.

Trattoria Da Enzo al 29

Mentioned on

$$$$affordable
Roman restaurant
Trattoria Da Enzo al 29 is a charming, family-run eatery tucked away in Trastevere, serving up traditional Roman dishes with a focus on exceptional ingredients. The restaurant has been in the hands of the di Felice family since the 1980s, and they continue to uphold its long-standing reputation for fantastic Roman cuisine.
Overall, the experience here was exceptional—it’s the kind of place I’d gladly wait in line for. Highly recommend! ⭐️ Had the opportunity to eat here while in Trastevere as part of an award-winning food tour, and it absolutely lived up to the hype 👏 When our group arrived around 7:30 p.m., the line was already a few blocks long, which made sense once we saw what came out of the kitchen 👀 We were lucky enough to bypass the wait as part of the tour, but if visiting on your own, come prepared. During the busy tourist season (July through September), we noticed people waiting with portable fans, water bottles, and even to-go cocktails—pro tips I’d recommend for anyone braving the line 💪 The highlight for me was the burrata, and it was nothing short of incredible. For anyone unfamiliar, burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream—the outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside is filled with stracciatella and cream, giving it a luscious, buttery texture that practically melts in your mouth 🤤 Growing up in Iowa, I’ve always been a cheese lover (the kind of person who ate shredded cheese straight from the bag), but I also know some European cheeses can be an acquired taste for me. Even my husband—who usually doesn’t enjoy eating cheese on its own—was savoring every bite. That’s how good it was: fresh, rich, and balanced 👌 We also tried the fried cod croquettes, which were golden and crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful fish inside 🐠 I didn’t finish mine since fried breading isn’t always my preference, but others in our group went back for seconds, which speaks to how well they were prepared. Paired with the crisp, light prosecco flowing freely during the tasting, it was the perfect start to the evening 🍾 From what I gathered, they also have an impressive wine selection and a menu full of classic Roman dishes at prices that seem surprisingly reasonable given the quality and popularity 💥 What really put the experience over the top, though, was the service. Despite the rush and the never-ending line outside, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. They took time with each table, explained the dishes, and made us feel like valued guests rather than just part of the crowd ☺️

A must if you are not from Rome. No reservations, therefore I suggest to come from 40 to 1 hour before it opens. We waited 40 mins but it was worthy! One of the most traditional restaurants I’ve tried (I am Italian) with my wife (Dutch). We both loved it. Don’t miss the Tiramisu, it is delicious! For two people, one appetizer, two main plates and dessert, around 30€ per person. More than fair! I recommend this place.
Francisco T — Google review
This is was our best meal in Rome. The wait IS worth it. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home. Antonio brought a chair out for my mom to sit while we waited. Roberto opened up the priceless Bianca Parmigiano Reggiano for the restaurant to taste. Our waiter brought us a sample of an appetizer to try. It’s a very special place.
Marisa C — Google review
Trattoria Da Enzo is justifiably famous for their excellent pasta carbonara, traditional Roman ambiance and history. The queueing is unavoidable and part of the experience. Arrive before they open at around 5.30pm to start queuing and you will likely wait around an hour. Being able to have drinks whilst in the queue is a nice touch! This is not the best carbonara I've ever had in 30+ years of coming to Rome almost every year, but it's very very good. The quality of the guanciale used is especially impressive and it is always cooked perfectly. The bread basket is an additional €2 which is to be expected at a restaurant that is now quite touristy but the quality of the bread is decent. The tiramisu is very good, and the coffee is, too. Just beware that they only do small, strong coffees, no cappuccinos or lattes.
Jules D — Google review
Take this for what it is a classic Italian Trattoria! It’s busy, crowded and full of joy! Food is some of the best we have ever had. All from scratch excellent fresh ingredients from their own farms. Tiny tables, stand in line up and have a spritz while you wait!
Marylou C — Google review
This was one of our best meals in Rome, with the perfect pasta and choice of courses. The staff was very kind starting from us joining the queue. Waiting time was less than 10 minutes shortly after 2 PM before afternoon closing. The cuisine was simply perfect and enjoyed good house wine crowning with the best tiramisu of our trip. This will be my best recommendation for friends and family traveling to Rome.

Amazing! Loved the food! We got the bread with balsamic and the fried artichoke! We also got the carbonara and the amatriciana. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were so flavorful! We enjoyed every bite! We did get there about an hour early and the line was long but they got a lot of people in during the first round. Was definitely worth it and I would totally go back.

Worth the line (amazing Aperol Spritz served in line also helped). Excellent, authentic Roman food. The Carbonara and Amatriciana were top-tier, and Amatriciana was the best I've ever had for sure! Great atmosphere.

Restaurant
Glass Hostaria is a celebrated restaurant located in the charming Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. The sleek, gold-accented dining room offers a contemporary setting for indulging in experimental Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Chef Cristina Bowerman's Michelin-starred culinary expertise shines through in the menu, which features regularly updated offerings showcasing the best seasonal produce. Guests can expect an impressive wine list curated by an expert sommelier to complement their dining experience.
If I could give this restaurant service an 11/10 I would, our flight got delayed and they were able to accommodate changing our booking for a later time, once we got there everyone was amazing especially Virginia and Ricardo ❤️ starting off on such a high note the food truly exceeded expectations. A modern take on Italian food but not a pretentious restaurant at all, would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for anyone coming to visit Rome. The pork neck was a highlight and the ravioli amitriciana was unreal.

10/10 — Bravo. A must-try experience! From the moment you enter, you’re welcomed into a space that perfectly blends modern elegance with earthy warmth — tall exposed timber ceilings, textured brickwork, sleek ambient lighting, and comforting air conditioning. The staff’s greeting was warm and professional. I was promptly seated and presented with the wine list and menu. Unfortunately, I couldn’t drink wine due to a minor head cold, but the staff’s suggestions and explanations were excellent. (As an Australian, I really appreciated the English — it made everything seamless.) I chose the “Glass Tasting Menu”, which you can tailor with substitutions from the vegetarian menu — the flexibility was very much appreciated. And the food? Absolutely unforgettable!! What truly sets Glass Hostaria apart is the attention to detail, the depth of flavour through different ingredients, and the creative uniqueness of every dish. I felt like there was a story being told by the kitchen …. And I was very happy to be included. The first appetiser and first course are eaten by hand, (I personally love this), a touch that draws you closer to the ingredients and sets the tone! (I should add, the remaining meals are eaten with cutlery). As the courses continued (and my waistline expanded…), the experience only got better. The Chef’s Pasta and the lamb were absolute standouts — dishes I’ll be dreaming about long after I leave Rome. Having dined at other Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe and London, I can confidently say Glass Hostaria genuinely stood out. It’s not just technically excellent — it’s been a memorable experience…. And for me, that’s what dining should be! I wish we could return… but our journey continues. I sincerely hope we meet again. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Vibe 10/10 Grazie mille per un’esperienza fantastica.

Wonderful experience, had the tasting menu — perfect portion, didn’t leave feeling hungry or overly full. The dishes were perfectly balanced in flavour, innovative, some Japanese/ Turkish inspired but deeply Romanian

We had a great experience, the food was really good, we ordered the lobster, that one is a must!! and also the ravioli with truffle. Both were amazing. The wine list is quite long but the staff guided us really well. The service was awesome, the only downward was the pâté en croute, very flat but they nicely didn’t charge it. Also we had a table upstairs and the view was quite boring. I think downstairs you can have a better experience. Overall I highly recomend this place

A very low quality michelin experience. The food was extremely mediocre. It was not innovative or tasty - quite bland. The service was the worst. The host got our respective orders wrong twice, funnily enough he didn’t notice either time. We had to correct it ourselves and point out that this isn’t infact what we ordered. We then had to wait extremely long for our last dish, because he forgot there was a whole other dish that we had ordered. Also for a 40 euro truffle pasta, i would atleast expect truffle shavings and not powder.. The connoisseur had no real pairing recommendations, he simply tried to pawn off the most expensive wine on the list, with little to no explanation as to what it is or why it goes well with that we ordered. The location of the restaurant is very special, but the dark interior and isolated (& very uncomfortable) outside seating didn’t make it enjoyable.

This place was amazing from the food to the presentation to the atmosphere. The Michelin Chef even came up to us and thanked us for coming in. They sat us as a walk in which is typically unheard of but I’m so happy they did. The ravioli was to die for and same with the desserts. Such an amazing first Michelin experience for my wife and I and we’re extremely thankful!

Had an opportunity to try their chefs special tasting menu and it was definitely one of the best Michelin ⭐️ meals I’ve had. Each dish was carefully curated for our taste pallet and the wine pairings were perfect. The staff were super friendly and joyful throughout the meal.

The risotto was really impressive and my partner loved beef tartar part of the meal. Also chickpea peanut bite appetiser and soup with scallop was nice. I had veggie gluten free set menu, my partner did meat one. The wine pairing was average. Really liked the restaurant vibes. I would go back only if I am craving for a perfect risotto.

Trecca - Roma is a modern osteria that captures the essence of a young Roman restaurant with its spacious and inviting ambiance. The interior features traditional elements such as brown-tiled checkered floors, pendant lighting, marble-topped tables, and an ancient Roman terracotta sink.
Excellent Roman dishes. More interesting that standard fare. Great wine options.further out of the city but well worth the trip. An easy bus ride to the area. The main wait staff was excellent.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Rome. It’s a bit off the beaten path which is great as you’re away from the tourist crowds (not that tourists are not welcome here!) and is a lot more peaceful. Website makes reservations quite accessible and you don’t have to stress about waiting in a queue for hours. The servers were great with excellent wine recommendations and were genuinely friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious and we would have easily come back for more if we were staying longer.

Wanted to come here since watching "Remarkable places to eat" a couple of years ago. Two of us dined for lunch while in Rome. Our appetisers and pasta dishes were very good and the Zabione desert tasted great, but the main dish of lamb was very disappointing. There was very little meat, it was mostly bone and fat. We left underwhelmed and disappointed considering the high price of our lunch.

The food was so so so delicious. We had lamb meatballs, chicken liver ragout pasta, and cabbage and potato gratin. The atmosphere was very welcoming, local spot, not many tourists, and a lovely staff. Their wine recommendation was also a perfect pairing with our food.

Amazing local spot, their pastas were amazing (Amatriciana, alla Gricoa). Loved their tomato sauce, so rich and flavorful. Trip was done very well in red sauce. Solid service, nice selection of natural wines too.

We were very lucky to have been seated at the “bar” spot right in front of the prep kitchen space. The owner greeted is and served us delicious clean natural wines all evening. The best al’amatriciana ive had in Rome hands down. The beef tripe dish is to die for, everything is extremely well made and very fair price for the quality. 10/10.

just a 15 min car ride outside of the city center is Trattoria Trecca, a restaurant I found after reading many food bloggers reviews, of the most to restaurants in Rome. If Rome wasnt magical enough, coming to Trecca felt like being invited to a Romans home to eat the dishes his grandma cooked, nothing pretentious, nothing fancy, just good Italian food. Diego made us feel like we were in his house, suggesting dishes, telling us about his favorite wine and giving us the best options to enjoy. Seeing us happy you can see how that made him happy and that connection for us was really special. You dont get to experience this anymore anywhere you go, people that love their work and want to share their food traditions with others. The starters of tomato and potato , simple but so delish at the same time, the pasta w mushrooms and olive oil was just like I envision a Nona making it, the bread was spectacular, the chicken, the meat fell of the bone effortlessly and the Pannacotta w caramel and Tiramisu were so fresh and the right amount of flavors. We left happy not only because of the food but because of the amazing service Diego gave us, the place itself is cozy and worth the trip.

Great food and great wine selection. One of the best carbonaras in Rome. Price is fair for what you get. The staff was very friendly, but a little bit disorganized (different waiters came to us asking for the same things). A strongly advisable place, only the service can be improved a little bit.

Trattoria Monti is a cozy restaurant located on the edge of Esquilino, offering traditional dishes influenced by the Le Marche region. With only about twelve tables, the trattoria provides intimate and personalized service, often by one of the two brothers who own it. The menu features hearty fare such as roasted game and casserole dishes, along with decadent options like cheesy layered eggplant parmigiana.
Absolutely fantastic dinner in Rome. This place was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. Make sure to get reservations! Service and food was great. The rabbit was outstanding and the pork was terrific. Paired with great wine and yummy desserts.

Great food and good service... Seems like a local place (the ladies sitting next to me said they visit this restaurant for 20 years!) I ordered the ravioli with potatoes/pig cheek..also the duck breast... Both are very good and are a good experience.. Recommended... Better call in advance for reservation.... You should try if you stay near Termini...

AMAZING! Every single bite, every single course was beautiful, absolutely beautiful! The service was amazing and very welcoming. To start, I had the ravioli with ricotta, spinach and sage butter. It was very delicate dish and every bit was beautiful. For main I had the duck with sour plum and shallot. The dish was very balanced and beautiful, every bite of duck melted in my mouth, for desert I had the pear tart and it was well balanced, and very delicate. The whole meal can together perfectly. I was so happy with the service and food I left a kind tip as there was not service charge included in the bill. Thank you so much team! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The best overall restaurant in Rome I’ve been to so far. Compelled to write this review because the service level was just the best and friendliest and most professional. Food was amazing. Every bite just made you go for the next mouthful. Will return to try the other dishes.

My expectations were a bit high after reading the reviews but unfortunately we were let down. House wine was very good so was the dessert. However starter and main were average and nothing really special. Service was a mixed bag too as some of the team members were very polite and helpful while others were not. I don't say this light heartedly but it was more than obvious that locals were much more welcome than visitors in this place.

I read a lot of good reviews about this place and I went for my 40th while I was in Rome with my partner and my parents. It’s impossible to get a table so book ahead. The food was great except one starter (the deep fried olives one) was bland and boring. The wine the waiter suggested went nicely with our mains. They also had a lovely desert wine. Service was good but they were busy and definitely missed a few things. We mentioned we were celebrating my 40th but they didn’t really seem to care. The atmosphere and vibe is fantastic. I would definitely go back if I ever went to Rome again (but I won’t).

Just a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely delicious, the pasta was incredible and we were lucky to get the last table. Pricing is more than fair for the quality you get there. When in Rome again we will difinitively be back.

SantoPalato is a humble restaurant in Rome that offers local staples such as pasta, meat plates, and desserts. It is known for its innovative take on traditional Roman classics, blending the soul of a traditional trattoria with a touch of hipster flair. Chef Sara Cicolini leads the kitchen, showcasing Rome's storied quinto quarto cuisine with an offal-heavy menu alongside well-executed favorites like carbonara and amatriciana.
Best to make a reservation, even weekday lunch sittings are fully booked, but there is a social table with 8 seats for walk in diners. We arrived at 12:30 when it opened and got seats but many people were turned away. Food is elegantly prepared with new and traditional tastes. The pork neck was perfectly cooked and tender with a tasty crust. Simply delicious. Although a fan favorite, I found the oxtail meatball to be too heavy and salty. The accompanying sauce was thick and nutty, not a good match for such a dense dish. I wish they served it with a tangy sauce or some crunchy or fresh element. Service was brisk and attentive. Really nice staff. This is an excellent place to dine if you want to get away from the tourist traps in Rome, it’s not far from the Coleseum but requires an Uber ride.

A fresh and modern take on local cuisine, with a focus on simple but very high quality ingredients. Vegetable dishes were a highlight of the evening. Do not miss the Melanzana or Polpetta Cod alla Vaccinara. The Carbonara was rich and creamy with nicely crisp guanciale, though the pasta a little al dente for most people. For dessert the Tiramisu is nice but the Maritozzo wins. Service is fine, not overly friendly but nothing to complain about. Must book far in advance. Not necessarily mind blowing but worth trying once if you can get a table.

Absolutely fantastic! We tried the carbonara and it was incredibly creamy and perfectly made, one of the best we’ve ever had. They also had a great selection of local beers, which paired so well with the meal. Cozy place, delicious food, and a really nice atmosphere. We left full and happy!

I came here twice during my Rome stay and tried different plates. The quality is high and food is delicious overall. Unfortunately, the meat I got was quite chewy - you’d expect a bit better, I basically had to swallow the entire pieces as they just wouldn’t break up. All the other dishes were highly satisfying and reasonably priced. In particular, the salad with Barattiere cucumber and the carbonara were phenomenal.

We had a good feeling about this place before we even went in, but we were blown away by the food! The atmosphere inside is lively and fun, with nice decor. The special pasta we had (with goat ragu) was fantastic. The beef picanha was absolutely exquisite, 10/10. The beignet for dessert was also very special! Highly recommend. Wasn't too busy at opening time (7:30pm) but quickly filled up. Recommend booking.

Best Tiramisu we had, ever. We have tried plenty in Rome. I cannot recommend this place more. It is a bit outside the touristy spots in Rome, but it is so worth the trip. We ate the meatball, carbonara, and tiramisu and absolutely loved everything! The cocktail bar also looks very professional. The staff was super friendly and attentive. It's also really cool to watch the chefs cook behind the glass doors, and the amazing design overall inside the restaurants.

Located near the iconic Trevi Fountain, Trattoria al Moro is a classic Roman restaurant that offers an authentic dining experience amidst the historic beauty of Rome. The establishment boasts a 1920s wood-paneled interior and outdoor seating, where guests can indulge in genuine Roman cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. To all the negative reviews, it’s a price point problem I get it. Execution is spot on - every dish here is perfectly executed. Flavors on point - if you think Italian, this is it. Service - Italian, exactly as expected. House wine, burrata, lamb, anchovies, carbonara — all perfect. If you think differently you need to rethink your review. This is Italian. And it’s perfect. Get the wild strawberry tart. If you don’t know what that is, don’t go here. @Anne Mohan thank you for sticking to your guns.

Really nice food, especially the truffle pasta and strawberry cake. Service is efficient. Menu is large so there are plenty of options. Pricing is higher compared to other restaurants, which in my opinion is fine, it’s your choice to dine there. What I didn’t like is after you pay they make you leave a cash tip after - not something I have experienced in Europe before and it felt a bit sneaky…

Exceptional from all points, real authentic italian cuisine, lovely place, really kind and funny staff, makes you feel at home 💗 My boyfriend had the best pasta 🍝 of his life (maniche di frate con salsicce e funghi porcini), definitely try these if you can! I have to admit I was expecting more after all the hype. Service was great, with good recommendations, and we did enjoy the meal. The ambience, though, could use some improvement. Leonardo da Vinci International Airport

Airport
Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, also known as Rome's main international airport, is a significant gateway for travelers arriving in the capital city. It is conveniently located less than an hour from the center of Rome and offers a 30-minute express train to Termini Station. The airport provides a well-organized and modern environment with ample seating, clean facilities, and various amenities such as free-to-play piano and a large chess board.
Airport with great connections to European nations and rest of the world. The Airport has three operational terminals. Terminal 1 being used for EU connections. Terminal 3 for International connections while Terminal 5 for International countries with stricter regulations. We flew to Lisbon from Terminal 1. Easy to navigate, separate security for families. It has great themed restaurants one floor above the boarding gates area.

For a very busy international airport, it's incredibly systematic and well-structured. From check-in to boarding, the signage and systems were clear and easy to follow. The duty-free shopping is also very comprehensive, with many major brands. My only minor issues were: 1. Some airport personnel seemed frustrated during customs checks. 2. There were very few airline-branded lounges.
Flo Y — Google review
This is a huge airport with three terminals. Despite being a big airport it's very well maintained. We even boarded a train to go to our terminal. The airport lounge is also huge with a good buffet. There are free play areas to keep the kids entertained like the huge chessboard. There are enough number of signs to direct people to their destination. The elevators are big and move quickly, they didn't get crowded even when people traveled up and down with luggage.

Located around 31 km southwest of Rome's city center, which takes about 40 minutes by vehicle, depending on traffic, and serving tens of millions of passengers a year, Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, also known as Fiumicino (FCO), is the busiest airport in Italy, where my partner, our friends, family member, and I departed as first-timers and ended our memorable trip to Italy in September. We arrived at our modern terminal, being part airport and part luxury shopping center. It was like a small city with a huge variety of shops, cafes, and amenities to explore. Despite its size and the crowds, it was exceptionally well-maintained. The signage and systems were clear and easy to follow. The facilities were clean and neat, and the staff seemed to manage the high passenger volume very efficiently. Great overall experience!

Second time to this Airport and loved the ease of finding our way around. Ensure you give yourself ample time as this airport was extremely BUSY during our visit, as there was some construction, and they were celebrating 2025 Jubileum, or Holy Year, a significant Catholic event marking the 2,025th anniversary of Jesus Christ's Incarnation. Several decent food spots and gift stores. Try and have Euro funds on hand before getting to Airport as it is more costly to change out there. Great no-touch bathroom faucets and amenities. Barcode scans available from large teleprompter monitor to your phone for easy and up to date flight and gate info.

Overall, Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is a clean, modern airport with efficient security, helpful Staff, and Lounge access (was able to use Priority Pass via American Express). Construction made navigation a bit tricky, but traveling through FCO was mostly convenient and comfortable; especially having checked in online and packing light! 🧳 Note: Checking in online or via a designated app ahead of time prepares your boarding pass on your phone in most cases. If you’re traveling light with just a carry-on, this lets you head straight to security without waiting in line at the gate unless otherwise notified! ✅ For context, my husband and I flew into Rome to start our trip touring southern Italy. We stayed a few nights in Rome, then took a train to Naples, followed by a ferry to Sorrento, and finally picked up a rental car to drive back and fly out of Rome. Coming from Frankfurt, while living abroad in Germany, this round-trip plan via Fiumicino was the most convenient and cost-effective option for our itinerary 💳 When we arrived, although we didn’t need to check a bag, our airline offered to check our carry-ons for free to save space in the cabin. We agreed to this because we didn’t mind waiting for them at baggage claim! Our main plan was simply to check into our hotel and grab a late-night bite once we arrived, and that’s exactly what we did 😋 Basically, we knew we would arrive in the evening and had planned to take a train into the city by booking it on the spot. Note: This option is much cheaper than a taxi or Uber and just as quick. Tickets don’t need to be purchased in advance, as trains run frequently and last-minute fares aren’t too expensive. I recommend this approach because you never know if your flight will be delayed ✈️ Before catching our flight home, it was super simple to drop off our rental car 🚗 The walk from the rental return area to the main terminal was short and easy, with moving walkways making it smooth to move luggage. Security was quick and efficient, and check-in was simple. Inside, there are plenty of shops and cafés, though we had lounge access through Priority Pass, which was a great way to relax before our flight 😌 I have to mention that I also appreciated the help systems at FCO! For example, you could scan a QR code to chat via WhatsApp with airport support, which was very convenient. That said, the information didn’t fully reflect the current construction layout, so directions weren’t always perfectly accurate. Still, we were able to navigate to our gate without any issues 🧭 All in all, a positive experience 👍 Fiumicino is a clean, modern airport that will likely be even better once the construction wraps up! It offers Lounges (depending on traveler access), nice shops, and plenty of places to grab a bite or a drink before your flight 🛫

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) - Terminal 1: Modernity Achieved 🙌 Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars After years of development, Rome Fiumicino’s Terminal 1 has finally emerged as a world-class gateway that truly reflects the excellence of modern Italian design and efficiency. It is a phenomenal improvement. A Modern Architectural Gem: It took some years of renovation works, but the effort has paid off handsomely. The new areas of Terminal 1 now look very modern, with bright, open spaces, high ceilings, and beautiful contemporary architectural touches. It is a vast improvement and a pleasure to navigate, feeling airy and sleek. Security is Lightning Fast: The security experience is genuinely revolutionary. Thanks to the rollout of advanced CT-scanning machines, security screening for Schengen/domestic flights literally took me 2 minutes. Since these modern screening machines do not require passengers to take out liquids, laptops, or electronics from their hand luggage, the throughput is incredibly fast and stress-free. This alone is a massive win for the passenger experience. World-Class Retail and Dining: The shopping and food experience is phenomenal, with a vast choice of almost everything you could want. You can find high-end luxury Italian boutiques alongside authentic Italian food markets and a huge range of restaurants, from gourmet sit-down options to quick, quality fast food. You can grab a final perfect Roman coffee or indulge in some high-quality retail therapy: it is the perfect way to spend your pre-flight time. Overall, Terminal 1 at Fiumicino has shed its old reputation and embraced the future. It is modern, incredibly efficient, and packed with amenities.

Giovan Battista Pastine International Airport

International airport
Giovan Battista Pastine International Airport, also known as Ciampino Airport, is one of Rome's two main airports. It is a smaller airport located about 12km from the city center. Despite its size, it offers convenient transportation options such as buses, trains, and taxis to reach the heart of Rome. The airport features a variety of shops and boutiques where travelers can purchase souvenirs and Italian products.
I have been to Rome, Italy twice now from our home in Manchester, England both times flying in amd out of Rome, Ciampino Airport aka Giovan Battista International Airport. First time was November 2022 and latest was October 2025, My First visit was a fantastic experience as the Airport is small and we landed and were through Customs in no time and inside the terminal you can book a coach into the centre, Car rental or official taxis outside the exit to the right there is a set fare of €48 from The airport to the centre of Rome/Surrounding areas of Rome. Airport is spotlessly clean, plenty of staff on hand, Very efficient, Fast through Customs and before we knew it we were in a a taxi to our hotel the Occidental Aran Park. Outbound 2022 we got a taxi back to the Airport again this was a set fare of €48, We had checked in online and headed straight through Security(We always recommend Fast Track Security), Again we breezed through Security and Customs and before we knew it we were in the departure lounge where there is a Mcdonalds, Duty Free store, Sandwich shops that serve salads, Beer, Wine, Soft drink, Sandwiches etc. Inbound October 2025 again we flew into Ciampino Airport and again super easy to navigate Customs and again before we knew it within minutes we were at the Official Taxi rank and again it was €48 to the centre of Rome(You can pay cash or card but most prefer cash) to our Airbnb in Monteverde. Outbound we checked out of our Airbnb and booked a taxi through ITTAXI APP(Its the official taxi app for Italy) again it came to €48 but the driver wanted cash i only had €40 so he took the cash, Again we had checked in online and we had Fast track through Security again within minutes we had cleared Security and we were in the departure lounge(There are only 2, A and B) again you there is a duty free shop, Mcdonalds, Sandwich shops etc and when you get through to departure lounge A or B there is ample seating along with USB and USB C charging points along with european plug sockets to charge laptops, Phones, Tablets, smart watches etc. Again plenty of staff on hand, Airport is spotlessly clean, Very efficient and easy to navigate, If you are flying out from Departure lounge B just know there are no toilets once you pass through the E-Gate and you only have vending machines for snacks, hot and cold drinks etc. Again departure was super smooth, Polite and friendly staff only issue was a 2 hour delay due to Frencg Air Traffic Control strikes(As we had to pass over France) but it happens. 5☆

It is easy to use the Ciampino Airlink service to get in and out to Roma Termini. It is very affordable. Taxi costs around €30. The airport is not too big, so the traffic isn’t bad. It didn’t take long for us to get through security check and immigration. Also the Ryanair check in didn’t take long. The toilets are very clean here and very tap provides tap water. There are McDonald’s, different deli shops here. They are def more expensive than in the city. There are quite some ATMs/cash points around. One is from Unicredit group so I don’t think it will charge ATM fees like EURONET. The immigration officials are very nice, especially the one from the UK. It would be even better if they could provide some child facilities.

For those still unsure if it’s possible to spend the night (August 2025): From like 10/11 pm the DEPARTURES are CLOSED, you can wait in the ARRIVALS. Someone will come and check your boarding passes. However at 3am you HAVE TO move to the departures hall, at 4am the security checks begin and then you can go through and have access to cafés with drinks and foods. There is nowhere to sleep but on the floor basically, and there is bright light all night. So we stayed up all night but then I wasn’t feeling all that great during our flight so I wouldn’t really recommend it. But it’s doable. Otherwise I think the airport is fine, I had no problems.

My recent experience at Giovan Battista Pastine International Airport offered a truly unique start to my Roman adventure! While my flight schedule had an unforeseen adjustment, I found it an opportunity to embrace the local atmosphere. The boarding process was certainly memorable: a proactive transition to a spacious, sun-drenched 'greenhouse' area, where one can truly bask in the Roman warmth at 36 degrees. A highly immersive waiting experience, quite distinct from typical airport lounges! The airport staff, though efficient, maintained a wonderfully discreet presence, adding to the streamlined flow. It's clear that while the airport provides the infrastructure, flight operations are the airline's domain. For any specific queries, their helpful team directs you to the airline or their online suggestions form. If you appreciate a robust, distinctly Roman start to your journey, embracing both the sun and efficient, if unconventional, processes, this airport provides a memorable send-off!

So this is just for Ryannair? Then perfect! Not busy at all, easy to get through. Walked right out for our taxi within Aurelian walls. Departing: two of our party did have to get pulled aside for swipes but not like other major airports. There was the usual duty free shops. There were counters for Lavazzo coffee, pizza, and salads, reasonably priced for an airport; their auto-screens did not appear to work well, so you would have to stand in queue. There was a kiosk for McDonalds, not counter service; they delivered from another location. There are toilets before passport control but there are also others past. For our gate B1, it was on a lower level floor. The gate areas was very crowded, and there were only a couple of people in the lounge around the corner. We did have to take bus in and out for our plane.

I arrived at the airport around 2am, flight was not until 7.45am, security asked for tickets and then let me in, not super comfy, but still good. Saw a lady have an issue with expired travel document but the airport staff handled it really well. Staff were really nice.

Not really a fan of small airports so I didnt really like this one. Also the connection to the Rome City Centre could be better cause as of today you need to take the bus to Ciampino and then a 15m train ride to Rome, which isnt very convenient as a direct train from airport for example.
