Anyukám Mondta

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Encs, Anyukám Mondta (which translates to "Mother Said") is a delightful culinary gem that beautifully marries design and atmosphere with exceptional food. The restaurant's journey began when its owners returned from Italy, where they honed their skills as a chef and maitre d'. After a brief stint in New York, they created this inviting space that started as a corner bar and evolved into the beloved eatery it is today.
Top notch hospitality! We had an amazing dinner, our server called Ákos were really helpful & informative, but the others were really kind as well. The portions of the meals were large and as delicious as they looked. Totally worth the price. Must visit. Thank you guys!
Mike H — Google review
I must admit, probably I didn't enjoy the restaurant because I don't eat meat. I ordered a soup and cheese dumplings, both ok but I was expecting better. As per the service I arrived with a friend who speaks Hungarian and the person that welcomed us did not care to switch to English, which would have been a nice touch, but it was still fine. What I really didn't like was the waiters cleaning the tables around us by spraying multiple times the tables so that the odour was spreading all around while we were eating...for the rest they were nice.
Veronica — Google review
The not so good: This is a hidden gem, almost invisible from the street, so it's easy to miss. Parking is somewhat difficult. The good: everything else. The atmosphere is unique. From the moment you walk in you just feel like something great is about to happen. They have a menu I like: a few entries but it's really, really hard to choose. Featuring traditional Hungarian dishes like breaded Mangalica pork chops or chicken soup and also the not so conventional "pájsli" for instance. We tried the Angus steak and a pizza, too, both were excellent to the last bit. The waiter was professional and courteous. Also, there was a black cat sitting (and yawning) outside - that's a good thing. Bib Gourmand? This place deserves a star.
Gergely S — Google review
A place where design, atmosphere, and culinary creativity come together in perfect harmony We had a wonderful experience at Anyukám mondta in Encs. The interior design is well thought out – from the carefully restored old brick and wooden plank floors to every single element of the decor. It has a cozy, slightly barn-like feel, but with a touch of elegance that makes it truly unique. The small back garden is also a lovely addition – intimate and peaceful. As for the food: absolutely outstanding. Every dish we tried was delicious and special. For example, the Italian-style tripe stew was served with a bread roll filled with blood sausage baked into the crust – a truly original and flavorful creation. Portions were just right, and the pricing was more than fair for the quality offered. The only minor remark I would make is about the kimchi salad – while it was fresh and well-prepared, I missed a hint of sweetness to balance the sour and slightly bitter notes. Still, this was a small detail in an otherwise exceptional meal. Service-wise, everything was fine, but our waiter didn’t seem particularly friendly – more neutral or slightly indifferent. It didn’t ruin the experience, but a warmer attitude would have added to the overall atmosphere. All in all, this place is absolutely worth a visit. A memorable culinary and aesthetic experience. Highly recommended!

Superb restaurant included in the Michelin guide. The food is delicious, fairly priced. Very cozy atmosphere, staff is very nice, know english as well for those who can not speak Hungarian. A perfect place for a nice lunch or dinner

Came here after recommended by friends to my daughter .. very lucky to scored a table as we did not make reservation!! Had a wonderful lunch and I must say the food was very good and value for money as food was good portions and all cooked fresh !! Our server and the rest were very friendly and courteous too! Already make rsvp for our next visits here with some friends!! Our recommendation is to rsvp a table as in 30 mins the restaurant was already filled!!

Anyukám Mondta – A Hidden Gem in the Hungarian Countryside I was truly shocked to discover such a high-caliber restaurant tucked away in the remote Hungarian village of Encs. From start to finish, this is on par with sophisticated, capital-city dining – a level of quality that far exceeds expectations for the countryside. 🌟 High-End Culinary Experience The Dudás brothers, after training in Italy and New York, brought real expertise back to their home region. The menu features exceptional Italian-Hungarian cuisine, including wood-fired pizzas, homemade bread, seafood, smoked meats, chamber specialties, and house-made desserts. Every dish is built on top-notch ingredients—many sourced locally, with key Italian imports like tomatoes and pizza dough delivered weekly . 🍷 Quality Food & Wine Pairings I sampled fried chicken with excellent flavor and a crispy, secret batter over creamy mash. The pizza had a superb crust and fresh tomato toppings sourced from Italy’s Puglia region. Desserts like strawberry pavlova and homemade cheesecake showcased genuinely flavorful local produce. The wine list is also impressive, with around 50 labels including Hungarian gems like Furmint and Aszú, priced significantly lower than in Budapest. 😊 Atmosphere & Service The interior blends relaxed countryside charm with modern style, offering indoor dining and a lovely garden terrace. Service is smooth, friendly, and polite—no rushed pace but definitely attentive. 🏆 Recognition & Value This restaurant has earned a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide—an award for excellent quality at reasonable cost—and is consistently praised as one of Hungary’s top regional restaurants. Despite its rural location, quality matches or even exceeds many urban competitors. 🎯 In Short Finding Anyukám Mondta in rural Hungary felt like striking gold. It offers a level of culinary excellence and ambiance more common in Budapest than in Encs. I was genuinely impressed and would recommend it to anyone craving refined dining off the beaten path—a true standout worth the journey. Let me know if you'd like a shorter takeaway or help planning your visit!

Creppy PalacsintaHáz Étterem & Center Miskolc

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Miskolc, Creppy PalacsintaHáz Étterem & Center is a delightful culinary destination that specializes in crepe-based dishes. This charming eatery has gained recognition as one of the top 20 ambitious franchise concepts globally, showcasing Hungary's vibrant food scene on an international stage. With ample parking and a lovely terrace, it offers a comfortable dining experience for guests.
Super lovely atmosphere, accompanied by a nice patio just outside from the main lounge. A bit too crowded, due to having all the tables and chairs packed next to each other like there is no tomorrow. Food was great, service was stellar; fast, efficient and all the bells and whistles. A great experience all in all, but id definitely skip the Sunday (midday) buffet-goblins, its a tad bit too much
Dávid S — Google review
The restaurant itself is nicely decorated. Waitresses are kind, but we had to wait a bit long to someone take our order even though it was only a few guests in the restaurant. We had to use the little button placed on each table to call the waitress for taking our order. These little buttons however are a great idea! The food was delicious with big portions! The coffee on the other hand could be better. In the toilet the soap dispenser was empty. Overall it was a nice experience and we will be back when we visit Hungary again.
Kitti L — Google review
Absolutely the best pancakes I've ever had! Creppy in Miskolc is a must-visit if you're anywhere near the city. The pancakes—both sweet and savory—are unbelievably delicious and creatively prepared. Honestly, these are the best pancakes I've ever eaten. I'm just glad it's not close to Osijek, or I'd easily weigh over 100 kilos by now! Highly recommended!
Daniel K — Google review
Really nice place. Great food, would highly recommend
Joshua S — Google review
The place has a big advantage, it has parking and terrace, on top of crepe based foods. Parking in Miskolc was a pain, we had no coins, the mobile app did not work to take the card, sms only valid for national numbers. The menu has lots of crepes options, savory and sweet. We took a soup, a beef pancake and a pulled pork one. The good was tasty and big big portions, too much to eat for us to be honest. The service was friendly, good English, polite, good times. The prices are high, especially for meat pancakes (4300-5000 huf per such dish). Terrace has no plants, just concrete, gets hot even with umbrellas.
SVC — Google review
Food is on point. The patio was fantastic and a great place for a date. The only thing that was bad was the terrible music at full volume. You’d think that a restaurant of this caliber and style would choose something classier than club music. 🤣 just why?
Zak G — Google review
Creppes heaven. Find it on the map, take a walk and try. Wide variety of sweat or sour creppes in deacent size and satisfactory tasts. Highly recommended to visit when you are done with goulash or other hungarian food;)
Szymon M — Google review
This place was amazing! 😀 We ordered a big Gru lemonade and 2 pancakes both of them was very delicious. The crew was very kind and fast. I recommend itt 100% after a long walk cause the portion is big that's why itt worth every penny 😃

Végállomás bistro&wine

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Bistro
Nestled in the heart of Miskolc, Végállomás Bistro & Wine is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This charming bistro boasts stunning decor, artfully blending colors and materials to create a warm ambiance. The kitchen is helmed by a talented team of young chefs who craft exquisite dishes using local ingredients. Guests can indulge in delightful starters featuring cured meats and cheeses, alongside house specialties like trout and duck liver pâté.
We visited for lunch on a Sunday with a group of four. We were quickly seated without a reservation. The menu is pleasantly short. We especially recommend the schnitzel and the gnocchi, but you can’t really miss, everything we tried was great. An excellent place, we would certainly return.
Máté M — Google review
We are quite picky when it comes to food. But the dishes we got heres were second to none. Both the beef and the fish were perfectly made, with well-selectes and fresh sides, not to mention the absolutely stunning dessert. We got homemade lemonade as well. The service was friendly, yet professional. It's a bistro, so we did not expect molecular gastronomy experiments here, but these traditional dishes have completely made our day. The praise is absolutely deserved. Kudos to the whole staff.
Bence D — Google review
Elevated service with a very kind staff. Food is super-delicious and very good quality. This place is a must-try.
Diana H — Google review
A very pleasant and chic place, the food is very tasty, the menu is varied enough and suitable for everyone's taste. For every recommendation!
Ana P — Google review
Exceptional! Not surprising it is Michelin recommended! We really enjoyed our meal here. Can be reached easily from the walking street in the centre of Miskolc by taking the tram. The inside of the restaurant has a great atmosphere but, we chose to eat out on the terrace as it was lovely weather that evening. We both had starters - kohlrabi soup & melon salad. For mains, I ordered the pumpkin filled beetroot ravioli w/ blood orange sauce & it was gorgeous. My daughter opted for their vegan special & that evening it was a delicious & fragrant coconut curry with seasonal vegetables of cauliflower & summer squash. We couldn't pass up pudding either on this occasion & both were divine! We had several beers & cocktails as well & along with 3 course each, it was difficult to believe all told the bill was under £70. Excellent value for such a fabulously presented & exceptional dining experience. Service was also very friendly & efficient. There is an English menu if your Hungarian is rusty. 😉 If you plan to visit Lillafüred via the wonderful Forest Railway, the station is next door & a visit here for dinner would be a lovely way to end your day out there.
Neep H — Google review
A Michelin star well deserved. Tasty foods and great service. Not the fastest, though we were there in peak hours with a large group. Great choice of wines an spirits. This restaurant is a top star oof the city. Totally recommended.
Laura A — Google review
Delicious food, nice and elegant waiters and lovely place to eat with friends
Kamila H — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. We were out in Lillafüred and the restaurant is conveniently located at the first station of the forest train. We have a chaotic, neurodivergent family and our youngest has very specific requirements regarding his food. If they are not met he will have a meltdown and our evening is ruined. Our waiter listened to us and made sure everything was spot on as requested, without judgement. I always feel the need to explain autism but I did not have to do it this time. How refreshing! Everything we ordered was beautifully made, interesting and delicious. In fact it was one of the best dining experiences I ever had, besides the food that is down to our server and the chill atmosphere of the place. I will definitely make the trip back, even though I’m not from the area. Very highly recommended!

zip's gastro & bar

Temporarily Closed
$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Zip's Brewhouse is a trendy spot in Miskolc that offers a great selection of craft beers produced locally, along with delicious tapas. The brewhouse also serves creative a'la carte meals with seasonal menus and specialty coffee made by a four-time Hungarian barista champion. Additionally, visitors can book guided brewery visits or beer tastings at any time. Guests rave about the amazing food and drinks, particularly the tomahawk steak and Alpha Wolf beer.
Walking into this restaurant for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect, but it truly left an impression! The décor is fantastic, creating a cozy yet stylish atmosphere that immediately draws you in. The food is delicious, the desserts are outstanding, and the cherry on top is the beer experience. Each table is equipped with its own dispenser offering four types of beer, letting you pour your own – such a fun and unique touch! I highly recommend this place!
Lukas P — Google review
The taps on the table are really inventive, but I felt the food was nothing special. We went in without a reservation, and we were allowed an hour or so, so I thought the service would be faster... I know it was my responsibility for not having a reservation, but honestly I felt it would have been better if they just said no and we came back another day with more time. Still, nice place and atmosphere. I would have wished for a bigger selection of beers on the table tap!
Javier T — Google review
Great experience! The waiters were very nice, making sure we were having a good time. The way you can pour your own beer is kind of genius and very convenient. There is also a good selection of fancy meals. Everything we tasted was amazingly well made by expert chefs (you can see into the kitchen and watch the masters at work). This restaurant is far from cheap though and the portion sizes don't always reflect the prices (if you are worried about that, the BBQ seasoned ribs are massive at a great price). While this place is definitely outside of most people's price range for casual dining, trying it out once is a worthwhile experience.
Soma L — Google review
Great experience, excellent food but it is very pricy. The portions aren't the biggest, the best value buy is the BBQ seasoned ribs. The waiters are helpfull and kind, there is in house made beer that is pricy but very good.
Oliver P — Google review
We spent weekend in Miskolc and I would say, that this was the higlight of our trip. I got only tartar and borsc but my friend order ribs. That what he get was massive.😃 It looks so tasty, that I have to try it also. Really delicious meat, I live in CPH and i tried many places here, but I can say i cannot compare any ribs here with ribs which they bring to us.I recomend to make tartar little bit less sour. But anyway this restaurant deserve 5 stars. Borsc excellent 👌On recomendation of waitress, I tried blackberry palinka, it smells so strong, but when you drink it, you dont feel it. Exactly how it supposed to be 👍 Place is modern, restaurant staff very kind, big plus that they speak english. I didnt ask the name of waitress, but she deserve separate 5 stars. Very kind, know what to recomend, speak english, everything as it should be. Prices on normal range. Thank you so much.
Marcel G — Google review
After being away from my home town for over a decade I was so much looking forward coming back home and experience the new thriving culinary scene so I have done my research based on online reviews and some on word of mouth. I have picked Zip’s based on the online reviews. Oh boy, did I make a mistake !? Where do I start ? There is no air conditioning in the middle of June, service is extra slow, although there were only a very few customers, half of the food from the menu wasnt available, beer tap not fully functioning . Even after all of this, I was still hoping the food will be good, but once again it was a let down. Nothing special, the quality of the meat was good, but everything else is just average . My final verdict is dont trust online reviews, if you can , ask around by locals what their experience is. There are much better restaurants in Miskolc and its vicinity .
Gab K — Google review
Creative a'la carte meals with seasonal menus Quality weekly menus for lunch Specialty coffee: coffee of the house, ziPresszó – made by the four-time Hungarian barista champion, from One Eleven Concept Roastery along with his other coffee selection. High standard bar. You can book a guided brewery visit or beer – tasting at any time
Zoltán P — Google review
Food was good and there was also a vegan burger option. Service wasn't the fastest but overall good. Lacking a beer menu which is weird for a craft beer place.

This charming restaurant prides itself on its seasonal menus crafted from locally sourced ingredients, ensuring that each dish bursts with freshness and flavor. Very pleasant restaurant. Spacious and well furnished. Staff is kind and knows its work. I had a goulash soup and risotto with mushrooms. Both were delicious and nicely served. Ideal place for dates for the couples, business, or small friends meetings.
Przemyslaw W — Google review
Great restaurant in Miskolc. I love the interior and their garden outside place that’s a mix of modern (industrial) and old. It’s a great venue for big dinners and events. Especially in the summer. In terms of food, I found that it was amazingly presented. It was tasty too, but without the kick.. somehow it was lovely but not that memorable. Sadly I didn’t find it fulfilling, and I’d expect to feel full when I eat out. They didn’t have a huge variation of options for the first course, so I went for a main and dessert instead. They served an appetiser that was interesting but a bit odd tasting. The main was lovely, but as I said, not extraordinarily and didn’t feel full afterwards. The dessert was gorgeous looking but not fully my taste either. I believe the wine matching wasn’t the best to bring out the best from the food/wine either. Service was lovely, prompt and attentive, but I was the only customer. They have a good selection of Hungarian wines, now it’s changed to smaller boutique vineyards.
Juliet O — Google review
Unfortunately the soup was awful. Other dishes and all of the choice my husband ordered were great. Only the chicken soup... So bad. After one spoon I just stopped. It was on the same level of a school canteen chicken soup. The liquid itself tasteless, the vegetables overcooked. Disgusting I gave 3 stars because other dishes from the menu were nice. Not outstanding but nice. We have been here before. Based on my memories I have had higher expectations. Sorry guys
Sasi E — Google review
Miscolc doesn't have any similar restoraunt like this. Food very good served. If you have eaten food in Italy or France then don't expect anything special in this restaurant. 12% of service is included to the bill
Andrew S — Google review
After a long drive from the other side of the country, we happened upon this place in Miskolc. Upon entering, we were kindly greeted by the host who also seemed to be manning the bar and assisted in serving us. The staff was friendly and helpful. They could tell right away that my wife doesn't speak Hungarian, so they spoke to us in Hunglish (Hungarian-English hybrid). The food was great--especially the grilled chicken. Bread was served before the main course arrived and it came with a beet salad. Normally, I would be displeased with beet salad. Who am I, Dwight Schrute? But this beet salad was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised. My roast beef came with what seems like some small fried mashed potato cakes. They were also delicious. Also worth mentioning: the plates themselves were quite nice. Their design was unique and they felt pretty substantial and sturdy. Öt csillag!
Collin N — Google review
One of the best restaurants in Miskolc if not the best. The food was excellent and pleasing to the eyes too. Warm service and nice atmosphere. Reasonable prices for a fine dining experience.✨

This is great retaurant. Food is delicious. Waiters are very kind. The place is awesome: very comfortable and really nice. In addition, there is a space for children. I love that restaurant!
Philippe S — Google review
Half way through the meal I discovered a huge caterpillar in the salad. Very unprofessional for a place aiming for high end dining. Although the waiter apologised and they didn’t charge for that dish, his response was that it’s not possible to see the bugs hiding in the salad leaves and such things already happened from time to time. Disappointing to see such low standards. Will not be returning for sure

I was amazed by your service and hospitality. I liked the professionalism of the staff and the courtesy, it was a pleasure to dine with you. True, you lack more good photos so that people could understand what kind of place it is. I was hesitating whether to go there or not, next time we will definitely come to you. Very tasty 🤤 I recommend this restaurant, unfortunately there are few like it in Budapest (

Tusculanum Vendéglő

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Tusculanum Vendéglő is a charming little restaurant that offers an inviting outdoor terrace, perfect for enjoying a meal during the summer months. Known for its generous portions, this eatery serves up hearty Hungarian dishes, including the must-try "Grandmother's Meat Soup." While the food is delicious and satisfying—albeit on the heavier side—the ambiance can feel a bit off-putting at times, with some guests noting cleanliness issues and inadequate climate control.
Very big portions of delicious food. You can’t go wrong with this place. Everything looked delicious and it was hard to choose.
Kinga M — Google review
Glad to find this restaurant on a chill Sunday, friendly staff, fabulous food, very local, very authentic.

Tusculanum Vendéglő is an amazing place! The portions are truly huge and offered at very reasonable prices – you always leave full and satisfied. The food is fresh, flavorful, and carefully prepared, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. It’s the perfect spot for a family lunch, a meal with friends, or even a special occasion. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area – highly recommended!
Natalia W — Google review
The food was good, but the waiter was very rude, maybe they do not care how they behave as they have 10% tip already included on the bill. The lemonade was bad, not fresh, only a juice something like Fanta lemon.
Simina P — Google review
After an exhausting day in the cave bath we were really hungry. Luckily we found this restaurant close to our apartment. The food is really delicious here and the prices are really fair. We chose hungarian special dishes like gulash soup served in a pot or lecso, and they were super tasty. We recommed to visit this place in summer as they have a really nice and shadowy garden.
Thomas J — Google review
Veeeeryyy tasty food! We ordered a chicken soup for a child, for husband a Brooklyn burger and for me turkey breast fillet with olive-Camembert sauce. For the desert it was a Somloi galuska. Everything was perfect!
Olena B — Google review
It’s a clean, cozy, friendly environment; however I was disappointed by the spicy fish soup. I’m Hungarian and it was neither spicy nor much fish: I counted 8 little pieces of fish in half a liter watery soup. No veggies or anything; I had to add paprika and salt to it; I had to ask for bread extra, and when it arrived, it was dry. Obviously that’s my experience but sorry it’s 2’990Ft and it’s a bit sad. The service fee of 10.35% was automatically added to the bill.
Margaret P — Google review
Nice location close to the Miskolc University and Tapolca baths. The food isnt great but not bad either, I'd say totally acceptable. The prices are quite inexpensive as well. However some of the waiters just dont put any effort in servicing the customers.

Bonchidai Étterem

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Bonchidai Étterem has become a beloved stop for many travelers visiting Tokaj, often frequented once or twice a year. Guests rave about the fisherman’s soup and goose liver, both of which are consistently exceptional. The restaurant's interior exudes authenticity, featuring a charming glazed clay fireplace that adds to its cozy atmosphere. Diners can enjoy stunning views of the river from the balcony, especially during summer when shade enhances the experience.
Typical Hungarian Csarda in Tokaj, don't expect Michelin star food, but heart warming Hungarian countryside cuisine.. The bean Guylas was some of the best I've ever had. Very busy even in the off season. Service was better than expected for a busy weekend night. Would return again.
Tito P — Google review
A good restaurant! The dishes are very tasty especially the fisherman soup and fresh fried fish.
張軒輔 — Google review
It became a tradition to stop by at this restaurant any time I visit Tokaj. It is about once or twice a year. My usual order is the fishermans’soup and the goose liver. Both of them are consistently superb quality. I adventured off to try some of the other dishes and it never disappointed. The interior very authentic, loved the glazed clay fireplace in the middle. The view is right on to the river. Prices are the usual higher end restaurant prices but in exchange the portions are more then generous. One order is easily feeds 2 people. The staff is attentive , speaks well in different languages no barriers there. Overall safely recommended to any visitors.
Hun G — Google review
The waiters were welcoming and helpful, the service was great. The interior design was amazing, the decorations were good. The view from the balcony was great, during summer time it is nice because there's shade and there's direct view of the Tisza. The only dissatisfaction that I had with the food is that the pork was taste less and the foods lacked salt. But the fish soup, the salads and the rice was amazing. If the view is your priority when choosing restaurant, I would recommend this place.
Iván K — Google review
This restaurant sits in a nice setting, near the river. However, I found the food just ok (I had a fish soup), and ate much better in other places in Hungary. Desert and wine list are good though.
M S — Google review
Excellent food in a nice restaurant near the river. Lots of Hungarian culinary specialties, of course there is Tokaj wine. The service is very nice, the meals were quickly prepared and affordable. There is a large free parking lot right next to the restaurants. It is not a problem to find a seat inside or on the patio.

Very nice and tasty traditional Hungarian food, serviced by professional staff. Warm welcome, and while you try choosing some of the delicious dishes, your drink is already on your table. The price is good as the foods. Absolutely worth it every dishes or salad etc. Recommended for everyone, families, friends, couples.

This charming restaurant offers a unique experience, allowing guests to dine in cozy carriages or private rooms for larger gatherings. The menu features an array of traditional dishes that are sure to satisfy any appetite. Diners rave about the generous portions and the melt-in-your-mouth quality of the food, making it hard to leave without feeling completely full.
A visit to Miskolc isn't complete without a meal at this restaurant. The food was exceptional and the service was very friendly. We had a group of 20 and they accommodated us at the street level with a wonderful View. Every dish included in the meal was Hungarian treat. Have a look at my photos to see the extraordinary platters they brought out for our group. We didn't finish everything because there was so much food.

Places like this are my absolute favorite to visit - a homemade look, feel and taste, plenty of locals and the vibe that you are just enjoying something authentically Hungarian. The wine and Palinka are a must-try, and the selection of food is simply astonishing, I visited twice during my stay in Miskolc and I wish I had more days to try more on the menu! Please come here if you are in the city, you'll enjoy it plenty!

Just had a wonderful dinner here. 2 adults and 3 boys (9-13) all very hungry. We shared 4 soups (goulash, dumplings, onion and bones) and a 4 person platter. All soups were very tasty. The goulash and the dumplings soup can easily be shared by 2 adults (very large and consistent). We were almost full after the soups and the big platter defeated us. We couldn't finish it despite trying hard and ate until we couldn't stand up from the table. We left probably a quarter of it which I'm sure will be missed tomorrow. :). Service was good and fast. The waiter can speak English. We paid 81 euro including 2 liters of lemonade and the service charge which is more than reasonable. There is also live folkloric music (personally I am not I to it and quite loud) but some might enjoy it.

It is a really nice place, where you can dine in a carriage, or have your own room for large groups. Great service, great size meals, food just melts in your mouth. Must pre book. Highly recommend to everyone

Very nice and cozy restaurant in the center of Miskolc. Excellent traditional food. We ordered halászlé (fish soup) and it was just perfect! The only minor problem was that we had to wait a little longer for our food on the terrace, which was due to an event inside the restaurant and the staff warned us about it in advance.

Opening hours are not correct we visit it at 21.30 at internet they said its open till 23.00 but they dont want to give us anything. They can't speak any other language then Hungarian. I should not recommend it for tourist the place looked very terrible

We came here for lunch and we had a good time. The staff was welcoming and we got a table pretty fast. We ordered one fish dish, a fisherman carb soup with sour cream and one pork dish. Between all of them, the soup was pretty good and I highly recommend you to give it a try. It has an amazing texture and it came with some breads which compliment it nicely. The pork dish was good and the fish dish was average. We paid around 11,000HUF for all the above dishes with a couple of beers.

Food is delicious and portions are huge! Great value. Seating indoors and outdoors, some live music also. Friendly polite staff and quick service time

Rózsa Étterem

Restaurant
Bed & breakfast
Nestled in a remote location, Rózsa Étterem is a hidden gem that truly embodies the essence of Hungarian cuisine. The restaurant's charming decor reflects the rich historical heritage of the area, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners. Guests rave about the friendly and attentive service provided by the staff, making every visit feel special. The menu offers a delightful array of traditional dishes that are both delicious and creatively presented.
Absolute fantastic place. Accidentally tumbled in on some business trip in the area. They prepared for a wedding but allow us to have a lunch in the balcony. Had the best pasta in months.

Place was half empty when we arrived. Still took 15 minutes to get a table and 60 minutes till we got our meals served. (Perhaps the kitchen was understaffed because of the xmas holiday season?) The meals are OK, if a bit pricey.

Restaurant is closed when it says on Google and on the restaurant’s own timetable that it’s open (Thursday 14.00)

We went here for lunch. Beautiful decor inside of the reatsurant in Hungarian theme. Menu has few confusing points like pork schnitzel with skin which is not the schnitzel you can picture, but it is 2 pork square pieces with skin on. We got goulash, bone marrow with veggies, pork schnitzel with skin on and chicken snitchel from kids menu. Beer, coffe and lemonades for the drinks. All of these was 19000 hungarian currency which is about 50 euro.

Restaurant is closed. Sign shows open from 12. We came before 2 and door are closed.

Authentic place which is basically in the middle of nowhere, especially during winter, but the service is great, waiters are nice and friendly. Ambience recalls the historical heritage of the area and the food is really very good. This is what I call Hungarian cuisine. Delicious and creative meals, portion is more than enough, but not extremely huge as it is some other places. Price is proper but I would say you get more for what you pay. You must visit it after a nice thermal bath.

Food is absolutely amazing, if you’re in town, then please pay a visit. Their vegetarian dishes are good, but their meat is great! The service is super nice and friendly as well :). The goose liver, pulled pork and boar ribs come highly recommended.

I never eat such a good traditional meal in hungaria, the taste's exploding in your mound, every bite it's like a little taste of heaven. Prices are very good, and the wine, ask for local wine. You will never have a wine like this anymore in your life.. 5 stars perfect review!!!

Debrecen International Airport

International airport
Airport
Debrecen International Airport, situated in Debrecen, Hungary, is the country's second largest airport. It was established in 1936 and served as a military airfield during World War II. Despite its small size, the airport has seen improvements in recent years and offers polite staff, clean facilities, a small shop and bar, as well as taxi services and adequate parking. The airport features quick check-in procedures but may appear dimly lit at night with limited dining options.
Tidy small airport. Usually it's quick to get through. Before security there are wending machines with snacks and drinks. And there are two shops inside after security where you can buy all sorts of Hungarian things, like paprika cream, chocolate, fridge magnes, etc.. and another shop for drinks and food. You can catch a taxi in the parking lot at the front of the airport or use the bus. The drop off and pickup used to be free, but now they charge you even below 10 minutes.
Peter ( — Google review
The arrival area and luggage conveyor is really old and could need an update on the building. The departure area including security control looks quiet new. Overall the waiting area is really packed when there are three planes about to departure within one to two hours. Maybe some more chairs can be good, as well as support by refreshing the empty towel boxes on the toilette.

I am very disappointed with the service at Debrecen Airport and Wizz Air. My wife and our one-year-old child were supposed to fly, but they were denied boarding because they were supposedly 8 minutes late. This was despite the fact that the gate was still open, and the reception was operational. All their documents were in order, but since they were the last passengers, they were simply turned away without any clear explanation. The flight’s schedule was then delayed by another 20 minutes on the board, and the plane sat on the runway for over 40 minutes after the denial. It was clear that they had enough time to board, but they were simply ignored. The tickets were wasted, and it ended up being money thrown away. This level of service is unacceptable. I will never use Debrecen Airport or Wizz Air again, and I do not recommend them to others.

Waited to receive the luggages for 1 hr when there was no other flights at all. On top of it, we had to wait in a small room with more than 200 passengers with no AC. Thanks for the great airport and ground services. There is no manager as well to file an official complaint. Good work, keep up!
Orsel S — Google review
So they invested money on the new scanners, so you don’t need to take your liquids out, well, that was true until a few months ago, not anymore, so put your liquids on the top. 29 C outside, not much lower at security and apparently the air condition was on, obviously they don’t want to spend money on the comfort of their customers. Waiting lounge not much better either.

I recently used Debrecen International Airport (DEB) for a short trip, and overall, the experience was acceptable, though there are a few areas that could benefit from improvement. First, it’s important to remember that this is a small regional airport, serving mostly low-cost airlines and a limited number of destinations. If you come here expecting the services and infrastructure of a major international hub, you may be disappointed. However, if you're just looking for a quick and simple way to get in or out of eastern Hungary, Debrecen Airport does the job. Arrival & Location: The airport is conveniently located just 5 km from the city center of Debrecen, which makes it extremely easy to access by taxi or even local bus. The ride takes less than 15 minutes, and taxi fares are reasonable. That’s a huge plus, especially for early morning or late-night flights. Terminal & Facilities: The terminal is very small—almost feels like a bus station more than an airport—but it's clean and functional. Don’t expect many amenities. There’s one small café, limited seating, and not much to do while waiting for your flight. The check-in and security process was quick, which is one of the biggest advantages of flying from a smaller airport. I was through security in less than 10 minutes. However, once airside, the waiting area is cramped, and there are limited power outlets. Also, flights can get delayed or bunched up due to the small number of gates, so things can feel chaotic very quickly. There's no proper duty-free shop—just a small kiosk with snacks and souvenirs. Staff & Service: The airport staff were polite and helpful, although some had limited English skills. Still, communication was never a real issue. Overall: Debrecen Airport is convenient, fast, and no-frills**. If you're traveling with just hand luggage and want to avoid the hustle of larger airports like Budapest, it’s a practical option. However, for longer layovers or travelers needing more services (lounges, restaurants, or shops), the experience will likely fall short. I’d use it again for quick regional trips, but definitely wouldn’t plan to spend much time here.
Fadey ( — Google review
The parking situation at Debrecen Airport is absolutely horrible. You can’t even drive in for a minute without paying, and there’s a police car parked at the entrance 24/7 ready to fine anyone who dares to stop just to drop someone off. It feels like a trap for passengers and drivers.

Small regional airport. There was only one (!) passport control desk working for all of the passengers and it created a huge queue of course. Even this desk stopped working after some kind of techy issue. After waiting for an hour they decided to open the rest of the desks. Finally. The airport itself is really small, some staff members don't speak English. The only cafe closes at 7 pm as the whole airport isn't operated 24 hours. There's only one ATM (outside). There're no exchange kiosks. Some of the vending machines aren't working properly. Wi fi is working at least. Update 2022. The airport service was slightly improved, thus adding a star. The staff is friendly and tries to assist in case of issues.

Košice International Airport (KSC)

International airport
Košice International Airport (KSC) is a public civil airport catering to both domestic and international air traffic. It offers regular and irregular air transport services, with 24-hour immigration and customs control. Despite its small size, the airport provides a decent and well-maintained experience for travelers. The check-in process is generally efficient, although the lack of a clear queue system can lead to congestion around the check-in counters and shops.
A nice little airport with few gates or wait for security. Plenty of outlets to choose from and plugs for charging readily available. It would be good if the airport could open their lounge for the evening flights however. I would fly from here again.
Vin C — Google review
The airport is small and compact, the man at the X-ray of things is clearly satisfied with life, normal people said that it was okay to skip the bottle, there was a little tonic at the bottom, which is not available everywhere and for this employee it is too expensive, so he was there shouting that it is impossible in every country there is such a who always ruins the whole impression of the country
Malvinasuper — Google review
Definitely the best small local airport in Czech and Slovak republic with no rush, queues and traditional problems of many huge airports. Not many direct flights, but good connection to Vienna or Warsaw (soon to Zürich as well) with connections to hundreds of destinations. The airport has lounge, small children playground, Schengen and Non-Schengen gates, a little lookout tower, duty free shop and some bars and cafés.

Airport is really small. Flights are always delayed. I was flying to Zadar, it was delayed for 3,5 hours; The last bus to the city leaves at 10pm. What a shame. Taxi will ask you for 25€, but it takes 15 min to drive to the city. I add here schedule of the bus to the city ( railway) and from the railway to the airport

Drinks are affordable and quite a few food places. Very cramped and rude angry arrogant staff. Very weird how you are put in the boarding lounge 1.5 hours before departure even before the plane arrives!

Dear Košice Airport Management, I would like to express my deep disappointment with some of the services I experienced at your airport. Specifically, I was shocked by the extremely overpriced products – for instance, vending machine coffee priced at €4.50, which was not only expensive but also served cold. While I understand that airport prices tend to be higher, this was excessive and unjustifiable. Compared to many European airports, such pricing feels like an unfair exploitation of travelers. Such practices damage the airport’s reputation, which should instead serve as a welcoming and representative gateway to the region. I hope you will reconsider the pricing policies of your vendors and ensure a fairer and more quality-oriented approach moving forward.
Peter K — Google review
While the airport facilities themselves are generally acceptable - renovated, clean, and accessible, although only warm tap water was available, my overall impression is negative due to the issues encountered. Upon arrival, I was informed that my son's small Trunky suitcase, which has consistently been accepted as a small cabin bag on numerous flights with various airlines, would now be classified as a large bag. This decision incurred a €55 airline fee, plus an additional €15 airport handling fee, totaling €70. This was an unprecedented charge for this particular suitcase, making it the first time I have encountered such an issue. Given this experience, I will unfortunately not risk traveling with this suitcase again. The staff members I interacted with were notably rude and unhelpful, refusing to provide their names when asked. Their demeanor created the impression that their primary objective was to extract as much money as possible from travelers. I witnessed a family ahead of me, also with two small children's suitcases, being forced to pay €140 to bring their bags onboard, highlighting a consistent pattern of excessive charges. This policy effectively renders my son's suitcase unusable for future travel, as the cost of checking it now exceeds its value.

Small, nice, and useful airport. It's incomparable with the high international airport globally around the whole world. But this one is working well. Departures and arrivals are smooth and fast. The connection with the city by public transportation is also good and easy to reach. So nice experience at all. Nothing bad about 😁

Poprad-Tatry Airport

International airport
Airport
A very small airport with very few steps to get to the exit and 3 passport control desks so you do not wait long. It has one shop/cafe and is modern but note no buses but taxis wait outside. Would fly here again.

The small size of the airport makes one feel more special as a passenger, like in the early days of aviation. Top marks for the wonderful background scenery!
Stan D — Google review
small (which means fast security checks) and very lovely airport. Great views and friendly staff.
Vovza S — Google review
Small airport with no more than 2 spaces for passenger planes. Kind of reminded me of an old Slovakian train station. Giving it 5 ⭐ because it made my journey easier to get to the Tatra mountains but there was another plane when we arrived. This then meant that passport control took over an hour (3 passport desks - 2 EU and 1 all passports) which was quiet annoying considering some of the locals pushing through without waiting for their turns. Considering the size of the airport, I think it does what is should.
Paulina P — Google review
Tiny airport, one flight a day if that. This shows as easy process apart from the pathetic security people that make up rules as they go. They take stuff from people that is neither prohibited or "security risk". Sad clowns that make themselves feel better by patronizing people and making themselves feel powerful....Bye bye Slovakia 🤦
Milan B — Google review
Awful airport with awful, slow service on arrivals and departures. No amenities, extremely overpriced parking and no public transport available (although the taxis are pretty reliable and not overpriced). It's extremely slow, there's not enough space at the gate for everyone to fit comfortably and although some of the staff are lovely and speak English, many are completely unwilling to even try to communicate in anything but Slovak and are unpleasant and racist. The scenery is gorgeous but customer service completely let's this airport down. Good to feel like you've travelled in time to the Soviet era though!
Aya — Google review
Very small airport making it quick to clear security checks, a small cafe doing coffees, teas, sandwiches, chocolate and crisps after you clear customs. Also a small duty free shop with limited alcohol and cigarette options but the staff in both businesses were super friendly. Very clean toilets. Even if you have to spend some time here the views of the Tatra mountains make it a 5 star airport to leave from. Whizz air seems to be the only airline who flies here from the UK (London Luton).
Daniel D — Google review
Fantastic little airport, landed and out in a taxi within 5 mins. Recommend getting a bolt as no buses and taxis outside a little pricier.
