"Il Rifugio"

$$$$affordable
Sardinian restaurant
"Il Rifugio" is a charming family-owned restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, featuring rustic decor and a wood-burning stove. The menu offers fresh local meats and cheeses, homemade pasta, and delectable desserts like semifreddo ice cream drizzled with honey. Chef Francesco Nanu curates the menu, which includes unique dishes such as culurgiones stuffed with almonds, orange zest, and guanciale.
Just incredibly delicious! Wow!!! We had such a great moment enjoying our lunch in this place. They are very lovely, and the food super tasty! A must go.
Julien — Google review
Il Rifugio is a family-run gem that captures the heart of Sardinian cuisine. We were lucky to have a reservation as the restaurant was turning away walk-ins the night we visited and from the first course to the last, it was clear why. To start, we had a simple yet elegant plate of shaved bottarga over celery and mozzarella, the kind of dish that shows restraint and confidence. For my main, I ordered filindeu in lamb broth with pecorino. Filindeu is known as the world’s rarest pasta—fewer than ten women in Sardinia still know how to make it. The semolina dough is hand-stretched into 256 delicate threads, layered in a crisscross pattern, and dried in the sun. Served in the rich lamb broth, it was unlike any pasta I’ve ever had. My wife ordered culurgiones, Sardinian ravioli stuffed with potato, enriched with guanciale, toasted almonds, and orange peel. It was extraordinary, full of flavor and texture, and perfectly paired with a glass of Cannonau. The atmosphere was warm and unpretentious, the service attentive without being formal, and the food carried a sense of tradition elevated by precision and care. Dining here felt both authentic and special, the kind of meal that lingers in your memory long after. Il Rifugio is not to be missed if you find yourself in Nuoro, make a reservation, and prepare to experience Sardinia on a plate.
Joseph P — Google review
We took a trip from Dorgali to Nuoro because of this place and its charming story…and so glad we did! If Rifugio is the best restaurant we visited in Sardinia. Food quality is at its finest, all cooked with perfection. We tried beef fillet and grilled calamari (the best we’ve ever had including greeks) - both amazingly tender, juicy and tasty. Wine and desserts also 10/10. The atmosphere is authentic and cozy, there were nonstop coming locals and tourists even though it was monday evening. Lots of people were waiting outside. Reserve a table for sure! In addition, Nuoro is quite charming by itself, we observed a spectacular sunset over the hills. So, if you exploring the area, Nuoro and Il Rifugio are exellent experience together.
Borislava S — Google review
We did not make a reservation and they fitted us in their busy schedule. We had a lovely meal at Il Refugio. Fresh seafood salad à la Mediterraneo, Tonno Rosso and Raviolini di formaggio with lamb ragu. Would visit again definitely!
Helga A — Google review
Without doubt the best meal I had on my three week trip around Sardinia. Mouthwatering pasta full to the brim with flavour and love. Kind staff and a great wine selection. Thank you.
Tom R — Google review
Be sure to try the pasta in the soup - it’s delicious and quite rare to find restaurants that still serve this kind of pasta. The tiramisu was excellent as well.
Eyal M — Google review
This place is fantastic. The food is incredible and the wine amazing. Service is friendly and fast. The ancient pasta is served in the classic broth and the bottarga buratta appetizer is very special. Make sure to make a reservation. They fill up quickly. They also make incredible pizza.

Fine dining restaurant
Dal Corsaro is an Italian restaurant in Cagliari which has been awarded a Michelin star. Dishes embracing seasonality and simplicity have won the restaurant its accolade, with seven, nine and eleven-course menus available. The kitchen is run by young Stefano Deidda, who has a mastery of transforming traditional Sardinian ingredients into delicately refined dishes that never disappoint.
My first visit to a Michelin starred restaurant. It's an unforgettable experience, everything was fantastically delicious. The design of dishes at the highest level, an unusual presentation that will be remembered for a long time. Very friendly and professional service as well as the atmosphere in the restaurant itself. Definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.
Mrs L — Google review
What I really like here is the seafood, we ordered the fixed menu with 11 dishes. It’s too much for me, I should’ve ordered the 9 dishes fixed menu. Their olive oil is one of the best I’ve ever tried here. Overall it’s a nice experience
Bing G — Google review
I may have missed out on some of the photos of the dishes that the Chef made for us last night but wowzer… the Dinner was a night to remember . The food was so delicious . Every single dish just exploded in our mouth and we drained them down with equally amazing Wine that was paired with our dishes . It is a must go place if one is okay with spending good money on great food and an experience. So worth it . Thank you 😊…
Dinar B — Google review
If you enjoy a fine dine experience or can appreciate food that's thoughtfully put together to compliment flavours and balance, you cannot look any further than Dal Corsaro. Leaving aside the fact it's a Michelin star restaurant, the service, the food, the experience and the ambiance is second to non to any other in Cagliari. You really do on a good journey from the first dish to the last and the paired wines add a little something extra!
Anil T — Google review
We opted for the 7 products menu, I like every dish that we are served. We both love seafood, so the cuttlefish, the lobster soup, the cuttlefish ink jelly with cuttlefish, sous vide red mullet were my highlight. And their amuse-bouche are truly intriguing, the oysters, and spinach pocket and the sangria choco ice ball(in 1 gulp). Wines are reasonably priced and have a big wine selection. Service is good, especially when they make an effort to accommodate my lactose intolerance and explain each dish in English.
Andrea — Google review
Fantastic food, best cuttlefish I've ever had, really good wines and great service. We had the 11 course tasting menu with paired wines and it's well worth it. Highly recommended.
Rob G — Google review
I didn't expect too much coming here. During most of our Italy trips we enjoyed the local, basic cuisine most. The fine dining mostly paled in comparison. But this was completely different! The chef offered a fixed menu only (choice between nr of courses and wine tasting). The service was elegant and flawless. The wines selected were exclusively Sardinian and marvellous. (Not one remark, like angels pissing on your tongue). The courses were magnificent. What stood out was the taste pallets. Very hard to describe and sometimes totally unexpected (the beef tartare with the Asian leaf on top gave me goosebumps). An absolute delight and worth 2 Michelin stars (minimum).
Stijn F — Google review
Definitely worth one star and enjoyable service, setting and food but not every dish was extremely wonderful (what you would expect for these prices). But overall we had a wonderful evening.

I Frati Rossi

Restaurant
"I Frati Rossi" is a charming restaurant located in Porto Cervo, offering a serene escape from the bustling coastal scene. The restaurant boasts a leafy terrace with stunning views of the gulf, providing an ideal setting to enjoy Sardinian cuisine and local wines. The menu features artfully presented seafood, pasta, and fish dishes, complemented by Sardinian wines.
Outstanding food and service. One of the best meals of our entire stay in Sardinia. The restaurant has a beautiful dining room with a view of the outside and you can see the sun setting. Menu is seafood focused, with an excellent, comprehensive appetizer of prawns, bottarga, and octopus with potatoes. I also ordered the vongole pasta (spaghetti with clams) which was delicious -- clams were clean and pasta was perfectly cooked. The mixed grill platter of red shrimp, sardines, and octopus gave us a diverse overview of what the restaurant could cook, and each were perfectly cooked and very tasty. Finally, we got the salt-baked fish which was expertly carved table-side and served with a ratatouille style side, potatoes with string peas, and a slice of lemon. Service is professional and elegant.

Beautiful spot with a breathtaking view over Porto Cervo. The food is elegant and full of flavor — authentic Sardinian dishes prepared with care and quality ingredients. Warm service, lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic or special dinner. Highly recommended!

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Stella Marina Di Montecristo is a renowned restaurant in Cagliari, Sardinia, offering an authentic and delightful seafood dining experience. Despite being Michelin-starred, it provides classic Sardinian dishes without the hefty price tag. The fixed lunch menu offers three courses of delectable seafood options. For a refreshing waterside drink, visitors can head to Emerson or La Paillote, both owned by former Cagliari star Francois Modesto.
We had a great experience here. The seafood held a high standard and the way we were served food was fun. I especially liked the starter platter and the fregola. The restaurant is quite hidden and it feels a bit like stepping into someone’s living room, in a good way!
Alexandra J — Google review
I really recommend this restaurant, last week when my best friend came here, we took her to this restaurant for lunch, she said it’s the BEST FISH that she ever had, and that she didn’t know you can make fish this good. They have a fixed menu, so even if you don’t understand Italian or know how to order, it’s okay. It was a weekday, but still kind of packed, so I recommend you to book it in advance. We will definitely come again.
Bing G — Google review
Amazing seafood in a cozy environment. The owner was so friendly. The food was delicious. A definite must
Andreas A — Google review
I feel that this place is just inaccessible or they are totally not open to foreigners/non Italian speakers. Even though I came early, they said they are fully booked, I tried calling them several times on the number provided, no one picks up, so it’s almost impossible to make a reservation. I also tried to reserve via Whatsapp, which didn’t work, even in low season. I feel there are way too many better places in Cagliari with excellent customer service and fresh seafood ;) No luck here.
Viktorija B — Google review
Great food and experience. As expected from other reviews no choice on menu except wine/red wine and aqua con gas or not. Everyone gets the same thing (except if you are 3 years old). The lace looked closed when we got there, a bit dark. My wife was very skeptical until the first course arrived. Was full of people when we left. Use what's app to get reservation.
David H — Google review
These star ratings do not express how excellent this place is!!!! We had dinner last night there, booked by a dear friend of ours. From start to finish, it was hands down a 1 of a kind experience. Especially for fish, seafood lovers.. 😋. 1stly, it is not a buffet, and it is not a la carte. We had a 'chef created' 4 course range. Fully loaded with all sorts of deliciousness 😋 . The shrine created for the much loved late Gigi Riva is so sweet and soulful. The owner and the waiter are very professional yet warm. The passion for their local produce is encouraging. I would highly recommend it for excellent food, customer service, and soulfulness all at excellent prices!!
Michkah F — Google review
An overall charming experience. This place is like going back in time. The only dining option is a fixed menu for €35 per person, whether you go at lunch or dinner. The fixed menu removes any pressure for people who have a hard time choosing (like me 😅) or who suffer from FOMO. It varies a bit based on what fish they get that day, but we had: mixed seafood antipasti, fregula with chrevette, and as the last course sea bass and fried calamari. All this was accompanied by water, wine, bread, and some shots of mirto to cap it off. All the seafood was super fresh. Any criticisms of the food were minor and very subjective: a bit more salt here, a bit less breading there. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone who likes seafood. The restaurant is a dark windowless room whose theme can best be described as “soccer and sea,” and which feels highly authentic compared to the newer more modern restaurants in Cagliari. The owner and waiter were both very nice, with the owner coming to the table after each course to ask how everything was. How a restaurant should be! Definitely reserve. We stopped by on a Saturday night to reserve for Monday lunch.
Kate S — Google review
Best quality for price in town. This place is genuine and food is delicious. It’s like traveling back in time to a dimension of authenticity, extremely fresh food and uncompromising hospitality. We had a full 4 course menu comprised of a large antipasto di mare, fregola with shrimps, fried and grilled fish, fruit wine. Giacomo the owner comes in the end with free shots of mirto :) Make sure to reserve in advance - go in person or send and sms if you don’t manage by phone - and be ready to eat a lot of good food for a ridiculously low price.

Pizza restaurant
Nestled along the stunning seafront of Alghero, Les Arenes is a beloved local gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its inviting terrace shaded by umbrellas, guests can savor breathtaking seaside views while indulging in delicious wood-fired pizzas and regional specialties. The menu features standout dishes like the unique Sardinia-style seafood paella made with fregola and the mouthwatering porceddu al forno, or suckling pig.
We were not expecting much from this place after reading the reviews BUT it exceeded our expectations. We ordered pizza but the meter, lasagna bolognese, grilled fish of the day. Everything was amazing, the atmosphere and food were great, the location is right next to the beach and there is a gelato shop right next door.
Charlene A — Google review
Excellent restaurant. Good service and great food. We have been here several times, going through the menu of pizza, pasta, antipasti and meat. All was excellent.

I liked the food very much! The pizza was delicios, The rest of the food was very good too. A little bit noisy, but just because The place was almost full.

been going to this restaurant for years, and I love it. the staff are friendly, the food is amazing, and the decor is modern and clean. food is overpriced but worth it.
YourLocalMochi — Google review
very dull spaghetti bolognese, was quite dissapointed with the bluntness of it, it barely tasted like anything at all. The one meter pizza was good though. It took way too long for the food to arrive and when it finally did i was the only one that got my food, and it took them 10 minutes before my family got their food as well. it is definitely very affected by the tourism and it doesn’t reflect conventional italian food.

Luigi Pomata

Restaurant
Luigi Pomata, located on Viale Regina Margherita in Cagliari, Italy, is known for its interpretation of tuna caught by the fleet of the island of San Pietro. The restaurant is considered one of the great dining options in the city. Over the past decade, Cagliari has emerged as a gourmet destination with a changing culinary landscape. Notable openings like Cucina.
Excellent food and service at a very reasonable price for this level of quality. Most of the staff spoke decent English and were helpful with the menu. We were well looked after by waiter Paulo Forge at lunch hemade us feel very welcome. Later that evening, after exploring the Regina Margherita area for dinner options, we ended up back at Luigi Pomata. Paulo and his team welcomed us warmly again. We decided to try the degustation menu with matching wines. Paulo explained each dish and was happy to chat about the area and the restaurant. Highly recommend this place plenty of indoor seating and alfresco tables. We enjoyed sitting outside and making the most of the late spring weather.
Narrell T — Google review
We had a great evening at Luigi Pomata. We took the tuna tasting menu. The food was good though not as special as we hoped for. The chef advise us on very good wines, the service was very kind and made no issue when we asked to swap desert for cheese for instance.
CF — Google review
A really nice place with great food selection and excellent wine list! This experience made me reconsider my relationship with the tuna fish! Even if you have considered tuna as your least favorite, be brave and try it here! Also they have great selection of local and international wines, they even had an option from Hungary! Amazing kitchen, amazing people and amazing experience! A must visit place for sure!
Imre V — Google review
Absolutely outstanding experience! I was genuinely impressed by the food, service, and the overall approach to guests — everything felt thoughtfully curated and full of warmth. The chef was incredibly kind and truly fantastic, both in skill and attitude. The dessert is an absolute must! Not only is it delicious, but the presentation is a performance in itself — served directly at the table in a way that turns the end of your meal into a real event. This is the kind of place where you feel taken care of, and every detail speaks of passion and professionalism. Highly recommended!
Ivana C — Google review
Amazing experience awesome food prepared by one of the best chefs in Sardinia
Diego R — Google review
My first time in Cagliari couldn’t have started with anything less than Luigi Pomata, arguably the best restaurant in the city. I had the Menu Degustazione which, at that price of Euro 85, is a bargain for the quality of the food I was about to have. Their speciality is tuna, but, be aware, this is not just tuna, it THE BEST TUNA that you will ever eat in Italy, possibly in Europe! This red tuna, tonno rosso in Italian, and the way they cook it is nothing short of magnificent. The full list of what I had is in the picture of the menu, and everything was incredible, from start to finish. The flavours are delicate and strong in the sense of packing a punch without overwhelming the palate. This is great cooking that constantly delivers excellence but does not make a fuzz about it. They prefer delivering fantastic food without fireworks or too much noise. The fireworks come towards the end, when, after finishing the meal, I noticed a dessert that I did not notice when reading the menu. This is an homage to Grant Achaz of A linea in Chicago, but it’s done in Sardinian-Luigi Pomata style, and it’s a feast of chocolate, fresh fruits, and much, much more . I saw it on the table of a dining couple near me, and had a serious attack if food envy. So much so that I ordered it, despite the fact that I had finished my meal already. I’m glad I did ! The service, from the chef, Luigi himself, who comes to the table in person to advise and, for some dishes, serving them to you himself, to the waiting staff, to the Sommelier, everybody was friendly, caring, smiley, and sweet. A perfect experience that I will probably repeat as soon as I’m back in Cagliari. Thank you to all of you !

We’ve had an amazing experience at Luigi Pomata. The beef fillet was full of flavour, medium to perfection, literally melting in your mouth while the cuttlefish rice had a unique delicious taste, al dente. The restaurant atmosphere, however, seemed quite serious.

Quintilio

Restaurant
Quintilio, situated south of Alghero, offers a limited selection between meat and fish. However, this lack of variety does not diminish its high recommendation for visitors in the area. This bustling bar/restaurant can accommodate around 120 people and is particularly popular among locals. The restaurant takes pride in sourcing locally and preparing their dishes fresh, often utilizing a barbecue to cook the meat and fish that change daily based on availability at the nearby market.
We had an amazing meal here tonight. We didn't have a reservation, but we arrived early (around 7pm) and were lucky as we were offered a lovely table with amazing views of the bay and setting sun (we are staying at the nearby Calabona hotel, just a short walk away). What can we say...service, view, delicious fresh perfectly cooked food and great ambience made for an idyllic night out. All at very good value for money. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful scenery, food superb. Service excellent. Very clean and friendly. Definitely the best food in Alghero.
Daniel C — Google review
We ordered two glasses of wine, some starters and as a main course the sea food plate incl squid, tuna and 2 gambas. When the main dish came everything tastes bitter and was for sure not fresh. So I asked the boss to take the main course back as it was reall not eatable. He started to shout at me in front of all the other guests, said that the fish is fresh and asked me what is my problem. Anyway, I explained to him that the fish plate is horrible and also costs 30€, the entrecote is supermarket quality and costs 25€, so not cheap. The predish food was bad es well but we could eat it. After a long discussion we paid everthing except the fish plate 😄 So DON‘T eat any meal at this restaurant, the wine and aperitivo is okay and the view over the ocean is fantastic!!
Jens V — Google review
The location is amazing overlooking the sea. The food on the other hand is substandard and poor. My wife and I had lunch with grilled chicken and chips. I had two cokes and my wife water. The bill was just short of 70 euro. McDonald’s is cheaper and far superior.
Joe L — Google review
Visited for the 2nd time today. It’s a bit of a gamble, last time we were quite happy with the food and service. Today not so much. The waiter forgot a drink (no biggie) and our side dish. When we mentioned that our side dish was missing he brought it to the wrong table first after ~ 5-10 minutes. This can happen, and I would not complain about it if it was handled appropriately. The waiter did not even say sorry or something and was generally unfriendly. The food overall is too expensive for what you get. If you are only looking for a drink.. I guess it’s fine.
Josua J — Google review
We walked down to the bar on a bank holiday. Google had no information about the business hours on that particular day so we decided to walk there, enjoy the view and potentially stay for a meal if they are open. When we arrived, two people were just leaving, there were uncleaned tables outside with coffee cups and small plates. We figured they were open. We walked up to the door and a guy came out. We greeted him and asked if they are open. He did not greet us and said no. It's fine, we anticipated that. We asked if we can sit on the wooden benches on the edge of the terrace to smoke. There was a wooden table with an ashtray absolutely stuffed with cigarette buds and smeared with ash. The guy rudely told us no, we will make a mess and he will have to clean up (again: tables were messy, there was a dirty ashtray and cigarette buds in and around it but WE would make a mess). He vaguely gestured towards the beach and told us to go down there. He literally shooed us away. This is the only place where we experienced any rudeness during our stay, and judging by the flood of ratings mentioning impolite service, we didn't just catch them in a bad moment...

Fabulous meal of pork and shrimp for mains and caprese and cheese platter for starters. Excellent coffee. Very good atmosphere. Nice staff and food exceptional. Would highly recommend.

We stopped for a coffee during a bike ride. The place has great view, and seems nice but the waiter wasnt friendly. We sat outside and asked for a menu, and waiter said there is no menu, just coffee or drinks. We ordered coffee, but when I went Inside i saw there was menu and people were eating food, so there is definetely more to choose from than just coffee and drinks. The waiter made us feel like we are not welcomed in there. The two stars are for good coffee and the view.

Nestled in the charming seaside village of Santa Lucia, Locanda Tipica Sa Corte is a delightful B&B that captures the essence of Sardinian hospitality. With its modest yet cozy rooms and a welcoming atmosphere, this establishment features a regional eatery complete with a fireplace and an inviting garden. The surrounding area boasts two stunning beaches and lush pine forests, making it perfect for nature lovers.
This is a nice B and B. Pretty good value. We booked this place because of the the restaurant. Well kept, clean and parking out front. The location is great for driving nearby but not much within walking distance. There is a cafe next door, where you can watch sunset or have a drink before dinner. The room itself is fairly typical, great AC, mini fridge, small shower and standard bathroom. Breakfast was ok, fairly basic but think standard in Sardinia.

We came here to eat twice, the food was delicious and had many traditional dishes. The service was fantastic and everyone was very friendly. We would definitely return
George L — Google review
The lady who runs the place was lovely, the garden and backyard is really beautiful and well designed. However, unfortunately the room was a bit dated with poor maintenance. Air condition was covered by dust as well as hair dryer. Bits of pieces were broken and not repaired. Breakfast was very basic. We went to this place couple of years ago and we enjoyed our stay, that’s why we decided to go back again; but unfortunately the experience was not the same this time.

Looked for this place for ten minutes by car and on foot. Saw a pic of the house from a previous review and never found one similar. Hate to write a bad review but there’s zero signage. Zero life. Maybe it’s closed? But there was a review 3 weeks ago. Saw others looking for the same restaurant. Hope this helps the management.

The food didn't taste much and we paid far more (75€) than we did on many other really great places around Sardinia. Staff didn't speak much English. They didn't have a menu, so difficult to know what you will get beforehand.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Porto Cervo, ConFusion is a contemporary dining gem that promises an unforgettable culinary experience. Under the expert guidance of Chef Antonio Serra and Chef Italo Bassi, this Michelin-starred restaurant artfully blends traditional Sardinian ingredients with innovative cooking techniques. Guests can indulge in a diverse menu featuring everything from exquisite seafood crudo to unique dishes like deer tartare and sea-urchin gelato.
The best Michelin star restaurant I have visited. Service is over the top. Every dish is piece of art.

This restaurant exemplifies fine dining with perfect service, neat presentation, and high-quality products. The owner is both friendly and knowledgeable about wine. However, it is more expensive than a typical 1-star Michelin restaurant when ordering a la carte (and especially if you want a good bottle of wine); which is understandable given its location in Porto Cervo—a hotspot for the wealthy. If you're not looking to spend over 500 euros for two, you may want to consider other options on the island.
Alan B — Google review
Confusion in Porto Cervo is the perfect spot for lunch with a view right on the port. The octopus salad was on point, the lobster pasta was incredible, and the mussels were super tasty. The vibe is modern and stylish without trying too hard – great food, beautiful setting, and a place you’ll definitely want to come back to.
Samira E — Google review
Food was well prepared (but nothing special), and service was very professional. Unfortunately the place is rather outdated (decor, idea, atmosphere and clothing of the staff). It is also very difficult to understand the starring with Michelin guide. Unfortunately we are not returning. We had lunch and were the only customers. All the beat for the new ideas and fresh future.

Only a few tables filled with people, food was (in our opinion) not on a Michelin star level and the wine pairing was nothing special at all. For around 400€ per person (including wine paring and the L menu) you could definitely expect more.

This restaurant was such a disappointment. First of all, I came in to dine on my own and although multiple tables were open, I was put in a far off corner. When I asked if I could be seated at another table the chef/owner seemed very annoyed and refused. Because I had read some good reviews, I stayed in case the food was worth it and chose the €200 menu. The food was not worth it. The chef sends all sorts of grissini, bread, crackers to try and distract you from the fact that the food is not great. The seafood appetizers given at the start of the meal were decent. The scallop wrapped in a pancake was interesting but nothing to write home about. The pasta I was served was basic with just olive oil on it and spritz of something that I could not taste. The fish was bland. The only nice thing I have to say is that the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I truly think the only reason this restaurant is still open is because the hostess and the waiters and waitresses were extremely attentive and polite. Last but not least, the decor was tacky. If you want a meal full of flavor and texture, I would not waste your money here. P.S. They were not reserving the other tables for other diners, I was the last one to arrive for dinner that evening and I arrived around 8:30pm which is a normal time to dine in Sardinia. The chef was such a grouch, so much so that it was like he was a cartoon character.

World class food as you would expect from a restaurant with such high accolades. Beautiful service, wonderful location. Great attention to detail with the decor. Just be warned that even for a Michelin starred restaurant this place is expensive. I supposed that is what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant in an expensive part of and expensive island but it still caught us a little off guard. The menu could be a little more transparent about the cost of the additional item, cheese, wine etc.

Exquisite good, excellent wine pairing and overall the kind of experience one can expect from a Michelin star restaurant. I had seen some of the bad ratings, and I’m happy that I ignored them and chose to visit. I do not think that the low ratings are justified.

Sardinian restaurant
Su Cumbidu is a restaurant in Cagliari, Italy that offers typical Sardinian dishes in a charming brick-and-stone setting with quaint alley tables. The restaurant is known for its authentic selection of Sardinian cuisine, including dishes like culurgiones, malloreddus alla campidanese, and fregula with artichokes or porcini mushrooms.
The place is super cute like we're inside a cave/rock, super cool. The staff are friendly and helpful, ordered a steak and it came great, tasty. Friend's carbonara was good too. Their Culurgiones had mint on them (the traditional way) and the pasta itself is a tiny bit softer and mushier then the ones I tried in other restaurant so I am not a fan of that.

Best place to eat, tasty food, great service. As most important to me, is that the staff is very friendly. I forgot my sun glasses in the evening, next day i passed by at the restaurant and they gave it back to me. Appreciate it a lot! My absolute recommendation to visit this great restaurant. 👌

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the service was below expectations. We had a reservations for 8 and we even have to switch tables after being sitting for some time. The staff member who attended to us didn’t understand English and made no effort to communicate or try to understand us, always rushing us which made the entire experience frustrating and uncomfortable. As for the food, it lacked flavor and care. The carbonara, for example, had only three small pieces of bacon, and the overall taste was bland. Other pasta dishes were also missing ingredients mentioned on the menu, which made us feel like we weren’t getting what we paid for. The antipasti(appetizers) were served after the food and the quantity was unadjusted from the price and number of people. (meat/cheese plate as it is on the picture was 17 euros). Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place, there was no effort from the staff.

We had a really excellent experience. Food was great. Service, despite a language barrier (I wish I knew Italian) was helpful and pleasant. We had a variety of pasta and grilled/roasted meats. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a traditional Sardinian meal.

Highly recommended for traditional Sardinian flavors! We had the agnello da latte and beef steak as our main courses — both were excellent. To finish, we tried a unique tiramisu made with traditional Sardinian crispbread, which was a delightful twist on the classic dessert. The portions were very generous — one dish could easily satisfy two people with a very affordable price. The waiters were extremely kind and gave great recommendations when it came to local Sardinian specialties. The atmosphere of the place was also lovely. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to experience authentic Sardinian cuisine.

We went twice to this restaurant. 1st time the piglet was amazing , beautifully crispy crackling and tender meat . 2nd time we went unfortunately the crackling was soft and gummy . But the meat inside was great . They need to focus on making sure the crackling is always crispy .

The best authentic Sardinian restaurant, I have a great steak of horse. It has as well donkey. I have to admit that was one of the best steak I had in years. So I high recommend the visit! We went two times 😋

After seeing many good reviews of this restaurant, we decided to try some authentic Sardinian cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We ordered the Sardinian piglet, which was very dry with too many bones and excess fat. The roast lamb, which we requested medium rare, came out overcooked and extremely dry. The snails with spicy tomato sauce were served very quickly, but they were lukewarm and not spicy at all. The carbonara was decent compared to the other dishes but still nothing special. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant as there are many other better options available. It was a disappointing dining experience.

Transportation in Sardinia

Getting around Sardinia can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Alghero Airport

International airport
Alghero Airport, also known as Alghero-Fertilia Airport, is situated in the north-western part of Sardinia and serves various areas including Santa Teresa di Gallura, Castelsardo, Sassari, Porto Torres, Stintino, Argentiera, Bosa, Oristano, Tresnuraghes and S'Archittu.
Super lttle airport. Very easy to manage. There is a Tourist Information desk just outside the arrivals hall. We were collecting a hire car from Budget and the pick up point was within walking distance from the terminal.

Cute airport aereal gate to the historical city of Alghero and to the North West part of the mysterious island of Sardinia. Functional design based on a rectangular base correctly distributed. Moreover, it doesn't loose the opportunity to show the wonders of Sardinian history through diverse stands and pictures across the facility. The success of Alghero as a summer destination increased the amount of flights reaching the original design capacity of the facility. The waiting section after security control may be over busy when several departures are close to each other and not all the passengers may find a place to sit, an expansion may be needed in the next years. An hourly bus connects the airport with Alghero's downtown, a higher frequency may be needed on peak season.
Alex S — Google review
cute little airport… but nothing to do. after security there’s two small cafes, a vending machine, a water refill (that was broken when we arrived and a traveler had to fix it since there’s NO ONE around to ask!), about 2-3 other shops and dirty toilets. i think there’s 4 (2 male, 2 female) toilets for many people to share so the queue was long. there also isn’t enough seating for everyone so half the airport were just sitting on the floor. it’s easy to find your way around but as mentioned there’s no one around to ask like for example security or other workers (except in stores and cafes) like you’ll see in other, bigger airports. check in was somehow broken when we got there and seeing as you HAVE to check in at a desk this took a while. they also only had two desks open at first for our fully booked plane. security went surprisingly fast even though there was only maybe 3 or 4 lines open.

Small airport, which does the job. Well organized, clean with everything you need, there are sockets to charge the phone. Few places to grab food are available

One star is way too much for this departure area. Worst I have seen and I have seen a lot. 3 planes sharing one toilet. A queue of 40 people trying to piss. What an amazing way to end a vacation
Tom P — Google review
it was okay, i suppose. really small airport with way too many people for such a tiny place, we sat on the floor while we waited for our boarding. there was nothing to do except buy food from an overpriced cafe. there’s a place to fill up your water after security for free! security felt stressful and the queue was long, staff was nice though.

‼️Public transportation ‼️ - You can buy your bus ticket online using the DropTicket or TabNet app. - Alternatively, there is a ticket machine located right next to the taxi lane. Please note: the tobacco shop does not sell bus tickets. - The ticket machine is not located at the bus station. - The bus station is on your right as you exit the arrivals area. - Please check the website of ARST for bus schedules, they might change season to season. Buses to Alghero generally depart on the hour (e.g., 12:00, 13:00, etc.). Bus n.760 goes to Sassari.

So typically Italian. Looks great, works like... Examples range from security checks to the internet. Thirty years ago, we had the same tech. This post couldn't be submitted from the Wi-Fi connection. Q.e.d.

Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport

International airport
Domestic airport
Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is located in the second city of Sardinia, serving as a gateway to the island's stunning beaches and tourist areas. It is close to beautiful beaches like Marinella, Pittulongu, and Porto Istana, as well as offering easy access to La Maddalena island via the nearby port of Palau. The airport sees a high influx of tourists during the summer season but is relatively quiet during other times of the year.
Avis rentals is not too far away to walk. Clean and manageable. It was an easy check-in with the BA girls Airport security was straightforward, and their lounge was well equipped with food and beverages. Alcohol 🍸 was out too I love Sardinia and it's people. Always friendly and with a smile and joke. Gracie Amelia

Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport was a smooth experience overall. We got through check-in and security quickly and without any issues. Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived at the ITA Airways counter all the way through to the gate. The airport is clean, organized, and easy to navigate. However, there isn’t much to do once you’re past security. Food options are limited—mostly sandwich spots and vending machines—so if you’re here for a few hours, be prepared to just sit and wait. Seating is fine, but nothing particularly comfortable. Overall, it’s a clean and efficient airport that does the job well, just not the kind of place to hang out for long. Great for a quick in-and-out!

This is such an amazing airport! First the signage makes it easy to navigate, the security rarely takes more than 10 minutes. Plus the route network is extensive throughout Europe taking you to most big cities. The staff were very friendly, the food was good and there’s a decent amount of shops. One thing that was difficult was getting to gates I think 8, 9, and 10, I had gate 9 going back to London Gatwick and you had to go to the end of the main terminal and go to the clearance area to enter England and then down an escalator to the bus gates. And if you have a gate down there get food at the main area as there is no food at those gates!

This is a well run airport. It is not the largest, but it is ordered. Lines moved quickly even though flights arrive at similar times and the staff are keen to assist. On my return, the same experience (with the exception of the grumpy check-in clerk beside our excellent clerk for the flight), bags checked, straight into security, staff pleasant, out through to the smaller space beyond, but adequate enough. We were boarded on the plane well in advance of departure and very smooth. Great experience (and I wouldn't normally review an airport!)

Very happy with this airport, so many shops to keep you occupied! Along with a GREAT smoking area / pet relief area - I've not seen many of these, so was super surprised to see one so well kitted out! Quick security checks, and also a quick pick up of luggage when we landed the week previous

Easy airport. Not too big, busy, but easy to get around. Great espresso shops. Friendly Iberia airlines. Sit near the piano.

We had to wait 45 minutes just to get through control, which was very frustrating. The terminal was extremely hot and uncomfortable, with almost no air circulation. Standing in line for that long in the heat was exhausting, and the staff at control were super rude and unprofessional, not talking to passengers in a normal or polite way. For an international airport, the experience felt poorly organized and stressful. I really hope they improve the air conditioning, queue management, and staff attitude. Just a shame
D K — Google review
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience at Olbia Airport. Almost every flight was delayed, and there was no communication about what was going on. Absolutely no transparency. The so-called “smoking area” was a joke... out of 10 people there, 7 were airport staff just standing around smoking and chatting. No wonder things aren’t running properly when the staff are more focused on chilling out, than their jobs. The air conditioning is barely working — it was hot and uncomfortable inside. There are far too few seats, which is unacceptable when you’re stuck waiting for longer.. To top it off, the prices for food and drinks are outrageously high, even for airport standards. I’ll definitely try to avoid this airport in the future if I can.
