Sri Bhoga Nandishwara Gudi is a Hindu temple complex that dates back to the 9th century CE and is located approximately 21 km from the city center. Constructed in the Dravidian style, it is known for its ornate carved pillars and a reflecting pool. Despite some neglect from the government, this cultural treasure stands in great shape, showcasing amazing aspects of Hindu heritage.
After our visit to Nandi Hills, we made our way to the Bhoga Nandishwara Temple, and it was truly a remarkable experience! This ancient temple, believed to have been built around 800 CE, is a stunning testament to historical architecture. The temple grounds are expansive, allowing plenty of space to explore. As you approach, the massive entry gate immediately captures your attention, setting the tone for the grandeur within. The intricate stone carvings throughout the temple are absolutely breathtaking, showcasing the skill and artistry of the craftsmen from centuries ago. One of the highlights is the presence of two identical Shivalingas, which adds to the spiritual significance of the site. We also found the Navaraga Mandapa, which seems like a venue for various devotional or social activities—it's a beautiful space that enhances the temple's communal atmosphere. Inside the temple complex, there is a large kund, though public access is restricted. However, we enjoyed the lovely garden surrounding the temple, which adds to its charm. There’s also a smaller kund outside where visitors are allowed, but unfortunately, the water quality wasn't great. Overall, Bhoga Nandishwara Temple is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or spirituality. The serene environment and rich heritage make it a perfect complement to a day spent in Nandi Hills. Highly recommended!

I recently visited the Sri Bhoga Nandishwara Temple, one of the historic and beautiful temples in the region. The temple’s architecture is impressive, with intricate carvings and a peaceful atmosphere. There are two Shiva Lingas inside, and the temple holds great spiritual significance. There is no entry fee to visit, but parking charges are around ₹50. Anna Prasadam is also available, which is simple and satisfying. Washroom facilities are available outside the temple premises for visitors’ convenience. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for those who appreciate history, architecture, and spirituality.

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is located at the base of Nandi Hills, around 60 km from Bangalore. It’s easily accessible by road, and most visitors combine it with a trip to Nandi Hills. There is parking available near the temple, making it convenient for travelers. Architecture & History: This temple is one of the oldest in Karnataka, dating back to 9th–10th century, and showcases Dravidian and Vijayanagara architectural styles. The intricate stone carvings, beautifully sculpted pillars, and detailed inscriptions are a treat for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts. Deities & Spiritual Significance: The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva (as Nandeeshwara) and features several shrines, including ones for Vishnu and other deities. It is an important pilgrimage site, and the serene surroundings make it perfect for meditation and spiritual reflection. Atmosphere & Experience: The temple is set amidst greenery, giving a calm and peaceful vibe. The ancient structure, combined with the natural environment, offers a spiritual escape from city life. Early morning visits are especially rewarding, as the temple is less crowded and the atmosphere is tranquil. Facilities & Amenities: Basic facilities like parking, drinking water, and rest areas are available, but food options are minimal, so it’s best to carry your own refreshments. Photography is allowed, but visitors are advised to be respectful of rituals and devotees. Overall Experience: Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is a must-visit for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and spiritual seekers. It’s less crowded than Nandi Hills itself, allowing for a more peaceful experience, and the detailed carvings and serene surroundings make it a memorable visit.

An historical temple also still functional. Beautiful architecture is an understatement. A must visit place when you are visiting Nandhi hills. They do allow marriage ceremony to take place in the temple premises. Most of the structure are getting damaged due to lack of proper security and government negligence I hope they will do something to maintain this beautiful temple.

🌿 Sri Bhoganandishwara Temple – A Timeless Gem Near Nandi Hills 🌿 Sri Bhoganandishwara Gudi is one of the most beautiful and peaceful temples I have ever visited. Located near the base of Nandi Hills, this ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is truly an architectural masterpiece. The stone carvings, intricate pillars, and serene courtyards reflect the glorious craftsmanship of the Chola and Vijayanagara dynasties. The atmosphere here is divine and calm — perfect for meditation and prayer. The temple is very well maintained and surrounded by lush greenery, giving it a natural charm. Ancient hilltop Hindu temple to Lord Shiva, with sculptures, carvings & a pool for rituals.
The Temple is very nice and peaceful. Loved the ancient structure of temple and the vibe. Here you can plan a small picnic type of thing as well, there is big park in front of temple where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful nature. Also one best part was that you can sit inside temple and feel the vibe of peace.

I visited this temple during the New Year, and it was pleasantly less crowded. The temple is a remarkable example of historical architecture and is truly a visual treat for artists. Being an ancient site, it holds great potential to become a popular tourist destination if properly maintained. Unfortunately, the current upkeep does not reflect its historical significance, and I sincerely hope someone takes steps to preserve it. The temple grounds feature a lovely green garden where you can sit and enjoy your food, but be cautious of the numerous monkeys in the area. There are also pay-and-use washrooms available for visitors. Reaching the temple can be a bit tricky as the road is not the usual one leading to Nandi Hills. Instead, it runs parallel to the Nandi Hills road at a lower level. It's advisable to confirm the temple's name with locals every few kilometers to ensure you're on the right track. Inside there are different temples, mainly it's a shiva temple. There is no ticket to enter temple. But you have to keep shoes outside for which they take 10-20 rupees.

Temple is on top of the hill and beside the view point. The architecture of the temple is good and feels ancient. The temple is neat and clean. As we visited in the month of february, it was not so hot. Not so crowded and one can complete the visit in 10, 15 minutes. Overall this is one of the sight seeeings on the hill top.

Nandi Hills😍😍😍What to say about this place. Mesmerizing ...Beautiful... Refreshing weather.. Foggy Atmosphere... I must say if you are staying at Bangalore then you must visit this place whenever you need some headspace as it is not so far away from the city. And it's not a one shot place so you can visit it as many as time anyone want to. Basically famous for its foggy weather and sunrise. So mostly if you are think about this place it better to visit it before 8-9 in the morning.

The price is fixed, and they do not negotiate even for 1 rupee. Such rigid mentalities! They claim to offer wholesale prices, but the same type of cloth is available outside for a lower price. For example, they sell a lungi for ₹299 in their shop, while you can get it outside for ₹180 to ₹190, with a maximum price of ₹220.

Skandagiri Hills

Skandagiri Hills, also known as Kalavara Durga, is situated in the village of Kalavara Halli and is home to the ancient Papagni Mutt. The trek is of moderate difficulty with a challenging descent that can be tough on the knees. Tickets must be purchased online, often through tour operators who offer options with or without transportation and include a vegetarian breakfast.
We reached the base around 5 in the morning, by then sunrise had already begun. We had booked the tickets online beforehand, you are only allowed if you do so. Carry minimal baggage, and try to lock your helmets in the bike itself, we carried our helmets while trekking and it was a mistake. The tickets costs Rs 250/person on weekdays and Rs 500/person on weekends. The initial trekking path is via bushy jungle and pretty easy, after roughly 1 km ahead the trekking becomes challenging and it’s very difficult at the last 1-1.5kms. The path will be very steep and slippery, your clothes will get muddy and keep both your hands free. Carry water bottles/electrolytes and energy bars. Avoid carrying plastic bags as it is not allowed to carry. Rest as much as possible in between, that’s the strategy. Only few people make it to the top, many just go back after certain points. Once you reach the top, the view is breathtaking and you can feel the clouds hitting your face and cool breeze. There is a small ancient Shiva temple at the top with fort walls. Spend some quality time enjoying the view. It’s a total of 4+4 kms up and down. Trekking down is relatively less tiring but be aware of steep slippery terrain. There are sugarcane and coconut shop at the bottom with very inflated prices. Overall it’s a worth trekking experience.

Had a great morning trekking experience. Quite moderate trek, it was around 4 1/2 kilometres the only problem was the forest department before the beginning of the trek takes too much time to complete the documentation because of which we missed the sunrise.

Skandagiri trucking was very good which was organized by namma trip. Reached the base at 4am and started the truck at 4:30 am and Reached the peak at 6:05 am. Definitely wroth it. Truck lead Puneet & amit thank you so much.

Skandagiri Hills is an absolute paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers! The early morning trek to the summit is a magical experience — walking under a blanket of stars and reaching the top just in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise above the clouds feels heavenly. The panoramic views of mist-covered hills and golden sunlight are worth every step of the climb. The trail is moderately challenging but well-marked, and the cool breeze throughout keeps you energized. It’s a perfect weekend escape from city life, offering peace, adventure, and pure natural beauty. The local guides are friendly, and the entire experience is well-organized. Watching the sky change colors at dawn from the peak is simply unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to reconnect with nature and experience one of Karnataka’s most beautiful sunrise treks!

Nice trekking experience. Difficulty is more than moderate. 4 and half km. Some of the place were we should claim 3 to 4feet and water fall routes. So don't go at raining season. Hill top gives u good experience. Safety is your hand, no water, no food, no current, Raw mountain. Sunrise time is good to trek.

Detailed Review :Spectacular Skandagiri 🫶🏾💛🫶🏾 Hiked on 21/06/25 Skandagiri, also known as Kalavara Betta, stands tall at 1,315 meters and is the second highest hill in Chikballapur after the famous Nandi Hills. Booking & Entry The hike falls under the Karnataka Forest Department, so you’ll need to book your tickets in advance on the Aranya Vihara website. The site is user-friendly and can be easily switched to English. Tickets are ₹250 per person on weekdays and ₹500 on weekends. We chose to hike on 19th June Thursday. Timing :What You Need to Know One thing to keep in mind—the website and even the helpline 1926 will tell you that the hike starts at 6:00 AM. However, when we arrived at the base and spoke to the forest officer, we learned that the hike actually begins at 4:00 AM, especially for those aiming to catch the sunrise. Skandagiri is all about that magical sunrise moment, so if you want to witness the hilltop bathed in the first light, plan to start your trek at 4:00 AM. The forest officials will let you in early for this reason. The Trail: Nature’s Playground From the get-go, the trail is a steady, sometimes steep, ascent through rocky terrain and forested patches. What made our monsoon hike truly unforgettable was the abundance of Blue Tiger butterflies. June is their nesting season, and the forest was alive with hundreds of these beautiful creatures fluttering around us. It felt surreal—like stepping into a different world. If you pause for a moment, you’ll see them hanging from branches and then taking flight at the slightest movement. This was easily the highlight of the trail for me. Hiking Tips Carry enough bottled water, sunglasses, and a cap. Good grip hiking shoes are a must—there are sandy and slippery sections where you can easily lose your footing. A light jacket is recommended for the summit; the winds are strong, and you might feel a chill, especially with the cloud cover and occasional raindrops. Trekking poles are a great help, especially for beginners or those with knee issues. Summit Experience We started our hike at 6:00 AM and reached the summit by 8:00 AM, taking our time to enjoy the butterflies and the scenery. The top was shrouded in thick clouds, with fierce winds making it feel wild and exhilarating. As the clouds cleared, the view was breathtaking—lush greenery, sparkling lakes, and the landscape stretching as far as the eye could see. Parking & Logistics There’s proper parking available right opposite the temple at the base—₹30 for bikes, ₹50 for cars, and ₹100 for vans. The whole hike took us about 3.5 hours, including a half-hour break at the summit, but it can take up to 4 hours depending on your pace. The descent is just as steep as the climb, so take it slow and steady; it took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes to come down. Skandagiri is a must-do for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature, especially during the monsoon when the butterflies are out in full force. The combination of a challenging hike, magical sunrise, and the sheer beauty of the surroundings makes it an experience you won’t forget.

My Skandagiri Trip Experience – A Few Important Tips I had an amazing weekend trekking to Skandagiri! If you're planning to go, here are a few crucial things to keep in mind: - Book your ticket in advance from the official portal before heading there. - No entry without a ticket – they strictly won’t allow you in, no matter what you say. - Carry all your food in reusable containers – plastic is completely banned. - Bring your own water bottle (avoid single-use plastic bottles). - Only 150 people are allowed per day, so plan ahead. - The climb is steep – if you have any knee or leg issues, consider this carefully. - Trek timings are from 6 AM to 11 AM – be on time! - weekend cost ₹ 500 and weekday ₹ 250 It’s a beautiful and rewarding trek if you're well-prepared!

Skandagiri Hills trek is super fun ⛰️🔥. Best time to start is around 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM to catch that killer sunrise 🌄—totally worth the early wake-up! Trail is cool and full vibe. Parking is available for both cars and bikes 🚗🛵 so no tension there. Just note, pets not allowed on the trek 🚫🐶. If you love nature, early morning chill, and some adventure, this place won’t disappoint! Full paisa vasool experience 😎🌿✨

Hotel Someshwara, also known as Sommana Idlis, is a small darshini-style setup in Chikkaballpura that offers delicious and light Malligae idlis with kadalekayi chutney (peanut). The idlis are large and come in a plate of four pieces. While the parking may be challenging due to its location on a small roadside, the soft and tasty idlis paired with flavorful chutney make it worth the visit.
Recommendable place for the morning breakfast. Hot idlis are served here and they are yummy 😋 and must try!! Idlis are served with Ground nut chutney and Potato palya here, liked the combination and taste. Mushroom palav simply superb, not too spicy. In general won't eat outside mushroom dishes but here tried and really liked it 👍 Price also not expensive, affordable! One can get addicted to this hotel items for sure 😊😊😁.

Worth The Hype! Hotel Someshwara (Popularly called ‘Sommana Idlis’) makes for one of the best breakfast spots in Chikkaballapur. It could be challenging to locate the place and there is no parking available. You will have to park your vehicles a few hundred metres away, near the main road. This restaurant serves one of the most delicious chutney! You will end up ordering extra Idlis only to finish up the chutney. The staff are courteous and the service is quick. Both offline and online modes of payment are accepted, and the dining area is limited. The dishes are affordable and the the restaurant gets crowded in the weekends.

It's located inside the residential layout and it's difficult to park cars in case you are planning to visit. Idly is super soft and with chutney it's too good. Had mushroom rice which was worth. No seating inside you will have to stand and eat and no beverages served except water.

Had the popular Sommana soft idlis here. True to their fame, they had the softest idlis. It feels like if you touch it'll break apart but it won't, and the moment you put it in your mouth it'll melt, too good! And the best part for me other than Idly is the chutney, they serve thick groundnut chutney, a perfect combo.

Not at all Exaggerating, this is the best idly I have eaten in my life. Fluffy, whole some idli for just 10rs, ghee can be purchased saperatly. Special mention to thier groundnut chutney, it was too nuttyful. Wada was crisp and that too big one for 10rs, tasted upma as well which was not too oily like other place and was great to eat with the chutney they offer, mushroom pulao is top notch. Great find for me in chickballpur.

After visiting nandi hills drive here to get fluffy hot tasty idlis. Ambience is good , locating the hotel is difficult as it is operated from residential area and the hotel itself looks like a house. No seating arrangements. The idli tastes really good when hot with butter on top. Vadas are crispy too. Had poori here which also tasted good with the alu/ potato sabji.menu is also moderately priced. Overall a good restaurant if u want to have good breakfast.

Indoor and outdoor seating as preference and weather conditions. 2. Ample parking space for 2 and 4 wheelers 3. Service is quick. 4. Clean washrooms 5. Electric bike charging point. Ultraviolette. Cons: 1. Food is pretty average. For the price that you end up paying one would expect more. 2. A sandwich at this price point should have multiple bread options and not be served with a simple Britannia bread and joy foods mayonnaise. 3. The seating area needs to be maintained in better conditions. The capony on outdoor seating is completely torn. 4. Tea/coffee tastes like one dispensed from an office vending machine. Disappointing.

An ideal spot for that lazy, long drive from the city, just to escape the mundaneness. A very quiet place situated on the foothills of Nandi Hills. Coffee, chicken pasta, veg club sandwich, and chicken nachos is what we had. And the quality, potion size, and taste were all noteworthy. But you come to these kind of places just to spend some quality time in peace.
