This is a really good view spot in Ooty and a must visit, it is the tallest point in the Nilgiris. The experience was decent, first you are supposed to buy a ticket, but before you get in line for the ticket, you have to enter the market, which had clothes and souvenirs. There are may cameramen present there who will click and print photos on the spot. There is also a watchtower, which you can climb up to get a better view from the Peak. The road leading up to this peak is also scenic, with tall trees.

A few minutes away from Ooty centre, it's worth visiting. At Doddabetta checkpoint, around Rs 50-60 deducted for car entry. Entrance fee is Rs 10. Have to walk a couple of steps to go to the viewing point. There's a small watch tower. There's also a few steps leading down to another viewpoint. Overall, amidst the hills of Ooty and Doddabetta, the views are scenic and serene.

Ooty Lake is one of the most iconic attractions in the hill station of Ooty, and it offers a pleasant escape for anyone looking to unwind amid nature. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees and gentle hills, the lake has a charming calmness that makes it perfect for a leisurely afternoon. The highlight here is boating—whether you choose a pedal boat, rowboat, or motorboat, the experience is peaceful and scenic. The cool breeze, misty air, and reflections of the surrounding greenery make the ride especially enjoyable. The area around the lake also has small snack stalls, a children’s play area, and a few fun attractions, making it a good spot for families and couples alike. That said, the place can get crowded during peak tourist seasons, and some areas near the entrance feel a bit commercial. But once you’re actually on the water, the beauty of Ooty shines through. Overall, Ooty Lake is a relaxing and picturesque stop—ideal for anyone visiting the “Queen of the Hills” and wanting a quick dose of natural charm mixed with light recreation.

It was like normal pond. Unclear water ! Very crowded place offer multiple water sports/fun activities. If visiting OOTY and have free time to kill, one may visit.
Funny C — Google review
Ooty Lake is a captivating man-made expanse, established in 1824, lying gracefully amidst the Nilgiri hills. Its 65-acre spread is framed by lush Eucalyptus groves and offers a central, picturesque retreat from the town's hustle. It serves as the strategic heart of Ooty's tourist attractions. The primary draw is the Boathouse, managed by the TTDC, which offers a range of water sports. Visitors can choose between leisurely pedal boats for self-rowing, traditional row boats with a designated driver, or swift motorboat rides, depending on their group size and preference. Boating charges are tiered with a minimal entry fee (around ₹15 per person). For example, a popular 4 seaters pedal boat ride costs approximately ₹260 plus a refundable deposit for a 30 minutes duration, offering an affordable family activity. Safety is prioritized; life jackets are mandatory and provided for all riders, ensuring a secure experience on the water. It’s important to heed instructions and avoid standing up to maintain stability and fully enjoy the tranquil mountain breeze. Beyond the water, the area features a bustling small amusement park and various local stalls selling goods like eucalyptus oil and homemade chocolates. Despite the seasonal crowds, Ooty Lake remains a scenic, essential stop for visitors to the Queen of Hill Stations.

C.S.I St. Stephen's Church, established in 1830, is a historic church known for its stunning stained-glass windows and a captivating painting of the Last Supper. The church is a part of various sightseeing tours in Ooty, including the evocative 'Through a Slice of History' tour and the tranquil 'Into the Countryside' excursion.
Loved the way it is situated and maintained by the managing team. Parking is an issue inside the premises. They should make a separate parking lot at neighbourhoods but not in premises. I was fortunate enough to witness the Sunday service there. Beautiful hymns and spirituality. One must visit the place and sit for a white to have the feel of the place. I was returning from Ramkrishna math and got dropped at church. Thanks to God
Nivedita M — Google review
Absolutely serene and outstanding. Easily some of the best stained glass work I have ever seen in one of the most iconic churches in India. The cemetery at the back is poignant reminder of the past and is atmospheric in its own way, with the trees and overgrowth. Am glad the whole space is well preserved.

The architecture of the church is truly a sight to behold, showcasing intricate detailing. The serene atmosphere within the church provides a sense of peace and tranquility for every visitor. The stained glass windows allow colorful light to illuminate the interior, creating a mesmerizing effect. It's clear that great care has been taken in preserving the church's historical significance. Visiting this church is a highly recommended experience for anyone seeking a moment of reflection.

St. Stephen’s Church – Ooty, is a peaceful and timeless place surrounded by tall trees. As I strolled around the premises, I felt deeply connected to the past — every corner seemed to hold a story. The wooden interiors, soft light through stained glass, and quiet atmosphere bring a rare sense of calm. Truly a must-visit spot for anyone seeking silence, history, and grace.
Suryanarayanan K — Google review
Founded in the colonial era, the church’s foundation stone was laid on 23 April 1829 by Stephen Rumbold Lushington, Governor of Madras, while its consecration took place on 5 November 1830, and public services began on 3 April 1831 . • Designed by Captain John James Underwood (Madras Regiment), it famously incorporates timber from Tipu Sultan’s palace, transported over Sigur Ghat at significant effort and expense (around ₹24,000 at the time) . • The church reflects early Gothic colonial architecture, with pale‑yellow exteriors, a modest clock tower, and a serene flower garden adjacent to the entrance Avoid Sundays if your aim is to explore—services may restrict interior access. • Visit early in the day to enjoy tranquil surroundings and soft natural light through the stained glass. • Mind the cemetery behind the church—historic, evocative, but with modest upkeep. • Respect during prayer times and maintain silence to honor the sacred space.
Hritick R — Google review
It's a 195 year old church. Beautiful and peaceful. The stained glass inside is beautiful and not to be missed.

Small Gothic Church one of the first colonial structions built in the 1820 s on the site of a Toda Temple. Timber for the roof was hauled here by elephant from Tipu Sultan's Palace in Srirangapatnam (Mysore). Nice stained glass windows and an interesting graveyard at the back, but not that outstanding. This is one of the bigger heritage Church in Ooty with beautiful architecture and the compound beautifully decorated with a garden having wide variety of flowers. Also the beautiful view of the hills in the distance was mesmerizing. It was definitely worth the walk. We enjoyed clicking pictures in the Church compound and had a great time. It has a nice peaceful vibe. If you are interested in places of worship, you could surely visit this church.

I visited the Ooty Rose Garden with a lot of excitement because every time I’ve gone in the past, it was full of colourful roses and truly eye-relaxing views. But this time, I was honestly shocked. There were almost no roses at all, and the entire place looked empty and dull. It felt completely waste to visit. I even asked the workers there, and they said May is the peak season, so that’s why there were no blooms now. Maybe that is true, but still I didn’t expect the garden to look this plain. I went only because of the beautiful memories I had from previous visits, but this time it was very disappointing. I hope they maintain it better throughout the year or at least inform visitors about the off-season, because people travel a long way expecting to see roses.

There are also stalls where you can select from a wide variety of teas and other related products to purchase. As a bonus, the tour even includes a visit to the chocolate factory.

I really loved this place.. We could see the various processes involved in tea leaves processing all the way till it's packaged. The entry fee is 20 per head, where we could see the entire factory, the various processes,a cup of tea, sample chocolates from chocolate area -- so for 20 bucks , it's so much worthy Also the view from the top is so good 🔥 with the mountains and the Ooty town below. There is also a chocolate factory close to it.Not just the factories, we can buy various kinds of tea powders, chocolates.etc.from there. The rates are kinda high, but still you can go for it. They also have recreation options like zip-lining etc
SAURAV B — Google review
The process from leaves to powdered tea to packaging appears extremely adventurous, and they have a really good explanation on the history of tea. There are numerous stores inside the tea factory where you may purchase a variety of flavored teas and enjoy yourself. There's a great location for adventure activities like zip-lining. Behind the Tea Factory is a Chocolate Factory, where you can get free chocolate samples and also buy some.

The Ooty Tea Factory & Tea Museum is a tourist destination on Doddabetta Road that showcases the history of tea in the Nilgiris and the tea-making process, from plucking to final packaging. The museum's history is linked to the Krishnamoorthy family, who established it to educate visitors about tea production. ✨ Review for Thread Garden, Ooty ✨ Thread Garden is one of the most unique attractions in Ooty, showcasing handwoven flowers and plants made entirely out of colorful threads. The craftsmanship is truly impressive – every petal, leaf, and stem is created with such patience and detail that they almost look real. The place gives you a glimpse of the incredible dedication of the artisans, as no machinery or needles are used – everything is handmade. It’s a short visit but worth seeing at least once for the uniqueness.

Thread garden, Ooty. Hats-off to all the people who have done this amazing and detailed art work. Most of the flowers here seem so realistic that your eyes won't be able to believe that it's all made of thread, collar stiffs and wires. That too, purely hand made.. Kudos to the workmanship👏 👏 They say, it's a 33 yrs old art work. It's the 12yrs of hard n fruitful work by 50 woman. Wherein they have used 6 crore meters of silk embroidery thread to create these plants. Lighting-wise, they could have made a little better arrangement, especially at the end. It seemed a little dark. Otherwise worth visiting this place. Art and nature lovers will definitely enjoy the visit..

Earl's Secret is a charming multi-cuisine venue located in Marlimund, Ooty. The restaurant also features Nahar's Sidewalk Cafe for a quaint and old-world ambiance and Shinkows for delicious Chinese cuisine.
Visited for the second time, and it was just as memorable as the first! My wife and I absolutely love the place — the cozy, vintage ambience, the calm surroundings, and the warm service make it feel truly special. The food, though on the pricier side, is well worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The staff is attentive and courteous, which adds to the overall great experience. Highly recommend this place if you're in Ooty and looking for a peaceful dining spot with top-notch food and service.

Tucked away in the serene hills of Ooty, Earl's Secret feels like stepping into a different era. The restaurant itself is inside a colonial-style bungalow with wooden floors, vintage furniture, and a glass conservatory that offers a beautiful view of the surrounding greenery. Service was friendly but a bit slow, likely because the place was quite full and we need to wait for the table for 20 minutes. Food was delicious, All in all, Earl’s Secret is more than just a restaurant, It’s not cheap, but for the atmosphere and quality, it’s worth a try

Earl’s Secret is truly a hidden gem high up in the hills. My lunch experience here was fantastic—the food was delicious and absolutely deserving of 5 stars. The service was prompt and friendly, making the whole visit seamless. The real highlight, though, is the serene atmosphere. Surrounded by nature, it’s a peaceful spot to relax and unwind. The weather was soothing and cold, which made the cozy setting even more inviting. If you’re looking for a tranquil place to enjoy a great meal while soaking in beautiful views and crisp mountain air, Earl’s Secret is the perfect choice. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a serene escape!

We had a wonderful fine dining experience at Earl’s Secret in Ooty. The ambiance was warm and elegant, making the meal truly memorable. The food was delicious – we tried the Veg Biryani, Omelette, and Hara Bhara Kebab, all of which were flavorful and well-prepared. To end on a sweet note, the Blueberry Cheesecake was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is conveniently located near where we stayed and lives up to its reputation as one of the top-rated places in Ooty. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food and a charming dining atmosphere.

It’s a lifetime experience. The place is just awesome. And sometimes the ambience, service, hospitality becomes so good that quality of food doesn’t make any difference from such a good experience. Pros: 1. Mind blowing place, ambience, environment 2. Nice decoration and maintenance 3. Plenty of space to seat and enjoy the scenery 4. People are very nice mannered and good service 5. Too much photogenic 6. Foods are nice and served fresh Cons: 1. Quite bit costly but still believe it is justifiable due to its location and ambience. 2. Difficult for navigation and quite narrow lanes but liked a lot while going to the top. 3. At night it’s quite dark and low visibility outside so preferably to go before evening if you want to enjoy your food outside. But inside it’s quite warm and nice.
ExplorerCouple — Google review
Nestled atop the hills of Ooty and surrounded by lush greenery, Earl’s Secret offers a truly serene dining experience. The beautiful gardens, ample parking space, and soft, soulful music create a mesmerizing atmosphere that perfectly complements the food. What we ordered: 1. Manchow Soup 2. Tangy Crispy Pepper Potato (Veg) 3. Punjabi Paneer Tawa Masala 4. Murgh Tikka Masala 5. Butter Naan, Rumali Roti & Stuffed Kulcha 6. Apple Pie with Ice Cream Ambience & Experience: The restaurant exudes old-world charm with elegant outdoor seating and scenic views of the valley. The ambience is peaceful and romantic, ideal for both family dinners and quiet getaways. Food Review: • 🥣 Manchow Soup: Perfectly spiced, hearty, and flavourful a great start to the meal. • 🥔 Tangy Crispy Pepper Potato: Crisp, tangy, and seasoned just right with a hint of sesame a true crowd-pleaser. • 🧀 Punjabi Paneer Tawa Masala: Rich, creamy, and full of flavor with soft paneer pieces that melted in the mouth. • 🍗 Murgh Tikka Masala: Succulent chicken cooked in a luscious, well-balanced gravy. Could have been better. • 🫓 Breads: The naans and kulchas were soft and fresh, pairing beautifully with the gravies. • 🍎 Apple Pie with Ice Cream: The perfect ending, warm, comforting, and absolutely delicious! Service & Value: Service was courteous, and well-coordinated. The staff didn’t justify the service tax. Prices are mismatch to the taste of the food by 20-30%. Overall: A delightful blend of Indian and fusion cuisine served in a picturesque hilltop setting. Earl’s Secret is truly one of Ooty’s hidden gems, perfect for anyone seeking good food, great ambience, and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

✨️ – Earl’s Secret, Ooty✨️✨️ I recently dined at Earl's Secret, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. On a cold day in Ooty, the warm and comforting dishes felt like a perfect fit and were incredibly soothing. I tried the Tandoori Murg, Hara Bhara Kebab, Chicken Dum Biryani, and Khichdi. Every dish was well-prepared, flavorful, and served hot, which made the meal even more enjoyable in the chilly weather. The tandoori murg was succulent and nicely marinated, the hara bhara kebab tasted fresh and full of earthy flavor, while the chicken dum biryani was nicely aromatic with tender pieces. Even the simple khichdi tasted comforting and fulfilling. The ambience added so much to the experience: cozy, charming, and carrying a beautiful vintage feel that makes you want to sit back and enjoy the moment. It's the kind of place that instantly relaxes you. Overall, Earl's Secret is a perfect destination in Ooty where warm and comforting meals meet an old-world atmosphere. A highly recommended place!

If you're in the mood for some spicy rice and tender mutton, Hyderabad Biryani House in Elk Hill is the place to be. This renowned restaurant offers a myriad of cafes with stunning views, including a glass house cafe that serves delicious Scotch Eggs and Pasta Primavera. The authentic taste of biryani can captivate anyone's senses, making it a must-visit spot for food lovers.
I had a really good experience at Hyderabad Biryani House in Ooty. The food was excellent and full of authentic flavors. I ordered the Chicken Hyderabadi Gravy (non-veg main course) and it was too yummy – honestly, I liked it even more than their biryani, which itself is quite famous. The gravy paired perfectly with butter naan. The only area of improvement is the service, especially during heavy rush hours – it gets a bit slow. But apart from that, it’s a great place with great food. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ooty. Highly recommended—do try it once!

Me and my friends had one of the worst food experiences of our life at this restaurant. We were served undercooked chicken, and when we complained, they took it back only to return the same piece, just refried. This is completely unacceptable, especially when it comes to food safety. I strongly recommend avoiding this place — save your stomach and your money.

We visited Hyderabad Biryani House on a Sunday afternoon, and as expected, there was a long queue during lunchtime. But honestly, the wait was completely worth it! The food was absolutely delicious—flavorful, authentic, and served fresh.

Visited here 4 months back. The food was delightful. The rice in the biriyani was soft and fluffy, and the mutton soft and highly recommend the Chicken Tandoori. It is always busy and crowded most of the time so better to avoid in peak hours. It's difficult to find parking near by restaurant and cleanliness is little bitter and the view from the restaurant is good and seating were finest. We ordered Chicken Biriyani, Chicken fried rice, Tandoor full, Chicken pepper gravy and omlette
Steffi — Google review
The so called hype was not evident, the food ordered was biriyani boneless, we found a worm, a cockroach in the biriyani, when I called the waiter he simply told a sorry and called for a replacement, though the restaurant seems premium the kitchen is terribly dirty, PLEASE AVOID THIS RESTAURANT if you really love biriyani. The Chicken Tikka was overcooked( the condition of the grill space is shown in the pics).

The portions are generous, and the menu offers a good variety of options to suit different tastes. The ambiance is simple yet comfortable, making it ideal for both families and groups. The staff are polite and provide prompt service, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Overall, Hyderabadi Biryani House is a great spot in Ooty for biryani lovers looking for a hearty and satisfying meal. We tried chicken boneless biriyani, mutton biriyani, a virgin mojito and fresh lime soda from here and the food was delicious.

Hyderabadi Biryani House, Ooty — an average spot for biryani lovers. The food is decent and flavorful, but nothing extraordinary. The place is usually crowded, so expect to wait at least 10 minutes. Good if you want a quick taste of Hyderabadi biryani while in Ooty, but don’t expect a standout dining experience. 🍛

if you love authentic taste, look nowhere else. this restaurant serves best Chinese food. Quality, quantity, service and taste are all good. it's a restaurant with long history. order taking is unique here: you write on a paper, the serial number printed against each dish. that's it. that piece of paper would be handed over to the chef. really amazing food

Worst Experience Ever – Highly Overrated! We visited this restaurant after seeing it all over YouTube and social media, and it turned out to be the worst dining experience ever. We traveled all the way from Bangalore expecting something decent, but what we got was shocking. • After checking in, we sat for over 20 minutes without even being served water. No one bothered to attend to us. • The tables were filthy, the tablecloths looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since afternoon, and even the chairs were dirty. I’ve attached pictures to show how unhygienic it really was. • The service is beyond poor. The staff are old, disinterested, and extremely impolite. They rush around without any courtesy. If a group of kids walks in, they get priority over everyone else—while the rest of us are left waiting like we don’t exist. • What’s worse, people were mixing alcohol into Coke bottles openly and drinking inside. It was very awkward and uncomfortable for families and others dining there. • The entire atmosphere is chaotic, unhygienic, and disrespectful to customers. This place is highly overrated on social media. Don’t be fooled by the hype—if you value your time, money, or even basic respect as a customer, avoid this restaurant at all costs. One of the worst restaurants we’ve ever been to Adding first image of group of 2 seniors mixing their alcohol in an empty glass coke bottle Image 2 showing their dirty table cloth Image 3 showing unhygienic chairs

We had a family lunch at Shinkows in Ooty and ordered Sour Pepper Soup,Chicken Mushroom Soup,Fried Rice,Pork Chilli, Fried Chicken, Prawn Hot Garlic,Soft Chicken Noodles,Stir fried Vegetables, Spring Rolls & Ice Cream. The ambience was pleasant, but the parking facility was very congested and have to park in Road side. The food was just average, similar to what you might find at a roadside eatery, and the prices felt high for the portion sizes. The Pork Chilli was good, the Stir-fried Vegetables were the best, keeping that authentic Chinese flavour, but the Soups & Garlic Prawns were very poor in both taste and texture(Waste of Money) On the service side, the staff were helpful but On table clearance and Cleaning side they should focus more on it . Nothing outstanding, but at least worth trying once.

Shinkows is a classic spot in Ooty if you’re craving some comforting Chinese food. The place has an old-school charm with its checkered tablecloths and simple setup – nothing fancy, but it feels nostalgic. The food was tasty and portions were generous. Dishes are prepared in a very homely style – not overly spicy, but full of flavor. Service was quick and polite, though during peak hours it can get a little busy. It’s definitely one of those heritage restaurants you must try when in Ooty – great for a relaxed meal with family or friends.

A true gem at Ooty, tried a couple of rice and noodle items, the chilli pork and garlic beef were good, also the fried noodle item. Whole place gives a good vibes 😎
Tom P — Google review
From a young age, I have known this restaurant to be very old and authentic, and the food was the best back then. When I visited in July 2023 with my family, we ordered noodles, fried rice, and chicken, and everything tasted amazing. However, during my recent visit in June 2025, while the noodles were still good, the fried rice was disappointing. The taste seems inconsistent with each visit. Also, the tablecloth doesn't look clean, and that's a turn-off. The environment also feels outdated, as the place has been around for decades. It would be great if the restaurant could upgrade its interiors to feel more vibrant while still keeping its authentic charm.

Had been for dinner here. The taste is just like any street side Chinese restaurant, and has nothing that commands a visit. The service and ambiance as very average too. When I went to tip the server 50₹ on a 500₹ bill, he asked for more; ended up tipping 100. You would find better places in Ooty.

The cafe also houses a Bee Museum with a B&B arrangement for travelers. It's an all-year-round destination, but the best time to visit is from October to June when you can enjoy hot chocolate indoors or explore popular spots as the weather warms up.
🍕🍟 Nice Cafe – Worth a Visit! Tried their pizza and fries — both were tasty and fresh. The crust was just right and the fries were crispy, not oily. Good place to chill for a quick bite. Ambience was decent, service was okay. Overall, a good experience. Would visit again!

The location is very close to city centre of Ooty. The ambience is good. A lot of articles about bees framed and Hanged on walls which is informative. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a house converted into a restaurant. Dining area is on first floor and kitchen is on ground floor. They say they have slow cooking which also delays the service. However the quality of food is not great. We ordered soup and found an instect in it. The quality is pizza and pasta was also not good. The manager did not even apologise for the insect in soup. Hygiene and quality is questionable.

Built around a bee protection theme critical to conservation. The place has pieces of info and various displays to sensitize people about the importance of bees. But it is of course lose importantly a restaurant and a good one at that. The pizzas are excellent. The ambience is cozy. The informal setting is nice and warm. The place looks amazing when you enter it. It has a very cozy ambience, perfect lighting, and the walls are nicely decorated with photo frames related to bees. It sets your expectations soaring.

A decent place in Ooty, especially very nice cafe to hangout for visitors. I had been to this place and liked the interior, very nice decoration with inside and outside seating. I have ordered fresh lime soda - was very refreshing. White sauce pasta- was too delicious with lots of olives and creamy sauce. Taste could have been better, but it was good. Garlic bread - this was quite different from other places, served with mayonnaise and it had soft texture with crunchy taste, perfect one to try here. The only problem I felt was, most of the items were not there when I went, so I have to choose what they prefer. Very less staff. Prices were reasonable.

We took some pizzas and starters in both veg and non veg. They have a scope to upgrade their taste still. Starters were frozen and the same was backed and served, it's not prepare on the same day ot time. So taste is not that good. Ambience were attractive and cosy place to visit which I would definitely prefer, however with respect to the food and beverages I'm going with 3 start rating for now.

Nice and calm place to be. Its busy during evenings. Everyone won't like the taste of its food items. Lots of research and planned work has been put up on walls of cafe about bees. Different types of bees to see. Its good for pasta and pizza. Menu can have more of items. Non-veg soup was very disappointing.

The cafe offered decent vibes, creating a pleasant ambiance to relax. However, the food fell short of expectations. We tried the wood-fired pizza and pasta, but the flavors didn’t stand out, leaving much room for improvement in taste and quality. On a positive note, the staff were extremely cordial and attentive, ensuring a comfortable dining experience. Their hospitality was a highlight of the visit. While the service was commendable, the food quality is a crucial factor that needs enhancement to match the overall atmosphere. It’s a place with potential, but for now, it delivers an average culinary experience. Overall, it’s a 3/5 Star experience — decent for a casual visit, but not something that would draw you back for the food alone.

I walked-in by seeing the interior and ambience of the cafe from outside. And of course the wood oven for pizza. The food was not so great but ambience and staff is very courteous. Served well, and had taken extra care as I was a tourist. The pizza chef is sweet , we had good conversation about local culture and people. One can visit the cafe to have nice pizza. It is at commercial road. Where I one can have good walk through market and pick some local stuff.

I was born and brought up in Ooty, and whenever I visit this place, the food always tastes amazing; the pizza and pasta are good. The vibe is calm and pleasant, and the restaurant has a nostalgic 90's feel. However, during my last visit, I noticed it still looks the same. I wish they would renovate it to a more modern style while keeping that '90s touch. Also, the washrooms were not clean; please make sure proper hygiene is maintained.

Ok, this is a difficult one. The servers/staff there were super polite and helpful. However, the ambiance feels...old. Not vintage, not classy..but old. The restaurant did not feel welcoming despite the best efforts from the staff. The food as well was OK at best. I ordered Aglio Oglio Sphagetti and what I got was hakka noodles with red chillies and vegetables topped with cheese. It tasted fine, but it was NOT pasta. It was noodle dish with cheese on top. I do not wish to assume much since it was my one and only visit there, but there is definitely a disconnect between what the restaurant claims to be <-> aspires to be <-> what it really is. Could have been much better considering it is situated at such a prime spot in market.

Nahar Sidewalk Café is conveniently located on the main road in Ooty and serves a variety of veg fast food and multi-cuisine dishes. The ambience is nice and there’s ample seating space, making it suitable even for larger groups. However, I found the place a bit understaffed, and there’s room for improvement in cleanliness. Overall, a decent spot for a quick vegetarian meal in the heart of Ooty.

Nestled in the heart of the city, amidst the bustling market area, this South Indian restaurant is a culinary gem. My visit was a delight from start to finish. The food was absolutely tasty – the idlis were soft and fluffy, the dosas crispy and flavorful, and the sambhar had just the right spice kick. Each bite was a testament to the authentic flavors of South India. The staff were warm, attentive, and friendly, making dining a pleasant experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. Hygiene-wise, the washroom was clean and well-maintained, reflecting the restaurant's overall attention to detail. Located centrally in the city's market hub, it's easily accessible and a great spot for a meal whether you're grabbing lunch amid shopping or unwinding with friends. The ambiance complemented the delicious food nicely. Overall, a great choice for authentic South Indian cuisine with good service and cleanliness. Perfect blend of taste, service, and location.

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Ooty, expecting a relaxed meal and some good vegetarian food. However, the experience was quite disappointing. The place was extremely busy, and finding a seat was almost impossible. Most of the tables were either occupied or being reserved for large tourist groups, so I had no choice but to go for self-service and eat standing, which really took away the comfort of dining. The service system felt chaotic and rushed. Staff members seemed too occupied to assist customers properly, and there was no proper order or queue. For the kind of crowd and confusion, the prices were surprisingly high — definitely not worth the value. The vegetarian food was average at best; the taste was okay, but nothing special or memorable. I expected more freshness and flavor considering Ooty’s reputation for good local produce. Overall, the ambience was noisy and stressful, not suitable for someone looking for a peaceful, cozy meal. This restaurant may work for large tourist groups who just want a quick bite, but for anyone seeking comfort, calmness, and good quality food, there are certainly better places in Ooty. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it or visit again.

The restaurant is very easy to access as it is located right on the commercial road in Ooty, all time crowded eatery in the vicinity.. The food and ambiance are superb, making for a delightful dining experience. However, the service could use some improvement to match the high quality of everything else. Has a reasonable area for parking as well.. If you're looking for a good vegetarian restaurant, this should be on the top of your list!

Great food, great service and great ambience. The restaurant is located at a very prime location near Charring Cross. The food was very delicious and the staffs were equally cooperative. We were waited by Amit sir, and to be honest he was very humble and showed positive concerns with our order like a family member. The price of the food is a bit high, but we cannot complaint much on this, afterall the restaurant is in a hill station.
Ritam B — Google review
Though I was a bit reluctant to visit the place due to low rating, I thing it's a gross injustice to rate this place below 4, which may be because of snail-pace service at peak hours. But the food quality- south Indian or north Indian, or of even snacks item- is very good. We visited the place repeatedly and had Dosa, both ghee roast and Mysore, Idli, Chhole bhature, Pav bhaji etc., and found them delicious. Pricing is also affordable. Both paid and dedicated parking areas are available, but both are generally crowded during peak hours.

With its consistent taste, hygienic food, and reasonable pricing, A2B provides a satisfying dining experience in the heart of Ooty. We tried masala dosa and filter coffee as always and it tasted the same as other outlets

Summary: Not worth it. Better restaurants are available within the walking distance. This is my third visit to this restaurant in the last one year. First and second time were ok. I don't expect much from restaurants in Ooty so mostly anything goes. But this restaurant managed to disappoint me and hence this review. Good thing: Place is hygienic and it is easily accessible. Chicken Lahori was average. Chapatis served were hot and soft. And all good things end here. There were not serving continental or tandoori items. No naan or kulcha. Only chapatis for bread. Paneer Chilli was extra salty(not totally bad). Mancow soup was below average. Finally the bill. It was 1100. The restaurant insisted on we pay by cash. I wanted to pay by card or upi or paytm. I walked to nearby atm and took cash and paid them. I always expect a restaurant of this size to prefer cashless payments but... Anyway it was my last visit here.

Comfy place with good homemade food. The filter coffee was really good. There are several books for people to read and spend time. Would recommend this place if you’re looking to spend some quiet time with some good food :)

This café instantly took me back in time — it feels like something out of an old novel. With vintage bookshelves, rustic decor, and a cozy charm that’s hard to find these days, it’s the kind of place where time slows down. The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, which just adds to the homely vibe. The food is decent — nothing fancy — but the shakes, oh the shakes! We tried the mocha shake, and it was the highlight of our visit. If you’re in Ooty and looking for a quiet nook to relax, read a book, or just enjoy some slow moments, this café is worth a stop.

A nice place to enjoy a cup of masala tea or coffee along with some samosas (veg/non-veg). There’s a small library section inside the cafe, which you can make use of if you’d like to relax and read. The taste is really good, and the prices are quite affordable. It’s a lovely spot to sit back and enjoy every sip. Snacks are a bit limited/varieties , and the atmosphere could be improved a little, but overall, it’s definitely worth a try! I visited with my kid and family , they love the place 😊😀

This place is situated in the midst of the city, and provides a good view of Ooty. This restaurant is a part of the cottage styled hotel, and has some good cuisines which taste good. Although, the prices of the items are on the higher side and the number of items available is limited. They serve both buffet (with less items available though) and Ala carte, and their staff are polite. The place is well maintained and has a good ambience. I had chicken biryani and paneer 65 here, both of which tasted good. The biryani was prepared well and had good number of chicken pieces, and so did the paneer 65. Overall, it was a good experience here with the only feedback I would provide is about the prices of their cuisines, however, one can have a good experience here, especially if they're staying in their hotels.

We had vegetarian buffet. Which was good! Ample variety ! They asked us if we need anything other than buffet items. And did provided our choice. Staff was super courteous and helpful. Location of Club Mahindra resort where this restaurant is awesome. Nice view of valley in misty clouds. A lot of salads and desserts. Bottle gaurd halwa was amazing. I tried Chilly Pumpkin for first time. Absolutely awesome! I wish you are lucky to get it when you visit them.

Club Mahindra - Derby green, We enjoyed our food, as we're localities we don't often visit here. But we got a chance for one afternoon and had panner tikka and veg manchow soup, both tasted good. The price is a little higher but it's okay for its standard. You can try their items if you'd love to give a treat to your taste buds.

This is the in-house restaurant of Club mahindra derby greens ooty. While on workation here, we opted for 3 meal combo here and being vegetarians, this is one of the good decisions We took. The buffet has ample vegetarian options with usually 4 subzis or more and Daals. The most delightfully surprising part was the numerous and tasty eggless desserts and cakes (not sure if we were lucky to visit them during time of more vegetarian crowd). They were also very accommodating to our dietary constraints and made customizations to buffet items too when requested. FYI: Do ask for masala Ginger tea when around!

For those seeking a taste of authentic South Indian cuisine, the restaurant offers a wholesome vegetarian meal with three different types of chutneys and delectable sambar.
This place is easy to miss while just talking around. Luckily I found it on recommendation from my hostel. It is a Traditional Coffee House! I enjoyed my lunch time meal in form of Massive Ghee Roast, Hot Samabar Vada, followed by compulsory Filter Coffee. Food and Service both are top notch. During the lunch time, I see a lot of people go for Variety Rice, Roti, and Dahi Vada.

I am particularly penning this note regarding their South Indian Meals. The taste is good with variety of vegetable choices. They offer the meal on a banana leaf, which, as far as I know is not done at all restaurants in Ooty. Recently they have hiked the meal cost. Previously, this hotel was known to offer it at a price which no other place in the town centre had provided.

Arrival: Airport is small, but neat. Baggage handling was smooth. Lots of staff offering to help with luggage. Trolleys were available in abundance. Restroom is an area of improvement, for the number of toilets and equal number of staff. Departure: Yay. DigiYatra worked at the entry gate, but face recognition wasn't working( at least today), only QR code scanning worked. Bag scanning, check-in, security were a breeze through. Total number of gates are only 10. But neatly maintained. Number of shops are more than the number of gates😊 Drinking water fountains are available. Unlike the arrival, the toilets are clean, staff is very courteous in the departure side.

This is a compact airport situated in the heart of the city, making it easy to reach by any modes of transport. Although the exterior and drop-off area could benefit from more regular upkeep, the terminal itself is clean, organized, and air-conditioned. Thanks to its compact size, domestic travelers can move from the entrance to the gate in about ten minutes completing all procedures, a major plus when you’re short on time. A bit more attention to the grounds outside would elevate the overall experience, but for efficient regional travel, this airport gets the job done.

Mysore Airport

Domestic airport
Airport
Mysore Airport, also referred to as Mandakalli Airport, is conveniently located just 10 kilometers southwest of the vibrant city of Mysore in Karnataka, India. This regional airport has undergone significant enhancements to meet the increasing demand from travelers eager to explore this culturally rich destination. While it primarily offers domestic flights connecting Mysore with major Indian cities—most notably Bengaluru—it provides a more limited service compared to the larger Kempegowda International Airport situated about 150 kilometers away.

Mysore Airport – Small in Size, Big on Simplicity Mysore Airport is a modest yet efficient regional airport that offers a calm and stress-free alternative to larger, more crowded terminals. It’s quite small in scale—with a single terminal, one departure gate, and only a handful of scheduled flights each day—but that’s exactly what makes it appealing to travelers who value peace and convenience over hustle and bustle. The airport operates primarily domestic flights, so there’s little in the way of crowds or long queues. Check-in and security procedures are usually quick and smooth, with friendly staff who help make the process easy and straightforward. For those who get overwhelmed by large airports, Mysore Airport feels refreshingly simple and manageable. While facilities are limited—you won’t find a wide range of restaurants, lounges, or shopping options—it covers the essentials: clean restrooms, seating areas, and a small waiting lounge. Parking is also easy and close to the terminal, which adds to the overall convenience. That said, travelers should plan accordingly. With only a few flights operating, cancellations or delays may leave you with limited alternatives. It’s also best to bring along snacks or reading material, as the available amenities are basic. In summary, Mysore Airport may be small, but it offers a clean, calm, and efficient experience. It’s ideal for short domestic trips, especially for those looking to avoid the stress of larger airports. A perfect fit for Mysore’s peaceful pace of life.

An airport 🛬 that is just not a normal one, here's my review.. 1. Location 📍: It's not so far away from the city so it doesn't take much time to travel, thanks to good roads. 2. Atmosphere : When I visited the June mid, it was not the Monsoon 🌨️ that arrived but it was really good neither hot nor cold. 3. Ambience: The moment I reached it was so small but not so small, the security check was really smooth. After getting inside it was like a maximum of 100 people. Even though it isn't as big as other airports but they have everything in place including stores having famous stuffs from the city 🌆 and everything in place. 4. Airlines 🛫: It's having small aircraft Ari Alliance which I got in, initially it was like a bus 🚌 inside and it was so hot 🥵 , but then when it started and then everything was good and lastly the staff was really gentlemen and women.

Mysore Airport is a small but efficient facility—ideal for quick, hassle-free travel to and from Mysore. The terminal is clean, staff are friendly, and it's refreshingly calm. Only two frequent destinations—Chennai and Hyderabad—limit its utility, but all operations are remarkably punctual. While waiting for expansion to enable jet flights, this airport shines for its simplicity and convenience. Tip: Avoid leaving your car parked for long—it’s inexpensive but slightly exposed.

Calicut International Airport

International airport
Airport
Calicut International Airport, commonly called Karipur Airport, serves the Malabar region of Kerala, mainly Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Palakkad districts. It is situated about 28 km from Kozhikode city. The airport handles both domestic and international flights, with major routes to the Middle East (Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Abu Dhabi) and Indian metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Table-top runway — flights may get delayed during heavy rain due to safety protocols.
Deepak — Google review
One of the Table Top Runway Airports maintained and owned by Airport Authority of India. Not so big Airport with only two terminals one for domestic and other for international . The domestic terminal does not have any lounge. The main international route from Kozhikode is the gulf countries . Not many shops here. Airport is clean. Staffs are good.
Samir S — Google review
Calicut International Airport, despite the “international” tag, is honestly quite underwhelming. First off, it’s worth noting that the airport is actually located in Malappuram district, not Kozhikode as the name suggests. That’s not a big issue, but it’s something many travelers might find a little confusing. As an airport that serves a huge number of passengers, especially NRIs flying in and out of the Gulf, you’d expect it to be on par with other international airports in India. Unfortunately, it falls short in almost every department. The facilities are quite outdated, and the whole place gives off a very bland and boring vibe. There’s very little effort put into aesthetics or creating a pleasant experience for travelers. If you’re looking for a vibrant or modern airport experience, this isn’t it. The basic things like waiting areas, restrooms, and food options could really use an upgrade. Nothing stands out, and everything feels just okay or below par. The airport badly needs renovation and modernization. Adding better infrastructure, smoother processes, and some thoughtful design could make a huge difference. Right now, though, it feels more like a dated domestic airport than a true international one. Overall, I’d give it 2 out of 5 stars. It works if you just need to get from point A to point B, but don’t expect anything more than the bare minimum.

Compact and well-maintained airport ✈️. Facilities are improving, staff are helpful, and check-in is usually smooth. Can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but overall a convenient airport for both domestic and international travel. 🌍
Itsmehasan — Google review
Calicut International Airport, also known as Karipur Airport, is located in Malappuram district and is one of Kerala's major airports. Though it has a large parking area, the fees are high and the staff behavior is often rude. Calicut International Airport (CCJ), located 25 km from Kozhikode, serves both domestic and international flights, mainly to Gulf countries. It offers good facilities and connects North Kerala.
Jishnu S — Google review
Calicut International Airport, also known as Karipur Airport, is located in Malappuram, Kerala, and serves as a key hub for the Malabar region. It offers domestic and international flights to destinations like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and major Indian cities. The airport features amenities like free Wi-Fi, duty-free shopping, and medical services, and is accessible by road and public transportation.
Sumit S — Google review
Calicut Airport is a convenient and well-maintained airport serving North Kerala. The terminals are clean and organized, with smooth check-in and security procedures. Staff are courteous, and there are basic facilities like cafes, waiting lounges, and parking. The airport handles both domestic and international flights efficiently, though it can get busy during peak hours. Transportation options like taxis and buses are easily available. Overall, it offers a comfortable and hassle-free travel experience for passengers visiting Malabar region. 🌴✨

Nice airport with good service, but most of the facilities feel outdated. A renovation or upgrade would really improve the overall experience.
