L'île Penotte is a charming pedestrian neighborhood near the Sables d'Olonne waterfront, adorned with narrow streets and hollyhocks. Known as 'the lady with seashells,' a local artist has spent years embellishing the house walls with colorful shells. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque murals, some of which depict a cat and a mouse, while ascending to admire the high walls and chimneys decorated with shells.
Loved the pictures made of shells often wondered where all those mussel shells went. Sorry walk from the port and beach. Well worth a visit. Look out for the cast and the rat and remember to power upwards because some high walls and chimneys are decorated. There is a plaque in the area explaining about the artist.

Beach
La Grande Plage is a must-visit area located between the port, the channel, and the beach. This historic district was once the city's very first port and still retains traces of its past, giving it a unique charm and a picturesque feel. The beach stretches about eight hundred yards with fine sand, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.
Great beach and loads to do on the front. Easy access to bars and cafes and things for kids to do on the beach (trampolines, go karts).
Debbie C — Google review
One has to love the charming vibe of a fading beach town. The row of house facing the sea a party beautiful and old and partly 70s-80s style high-rise buildings: I like it a lot! The beach is crowded during high season and offers a good swim between lunch or dinner in one of the city's bars and restaurants
Matthias S — Google review
Beautiful old city centre with fantastic seaside board walk and awesome beach. Everything you can ask a seaside town of. Great food, great venues, some history and a lot of French Atlantic flair. As a packed tourist hot-spot certainly not everybody's cup of tea. But I like it a lot.
Peter R — Google review
Lovely sandy beach beside promenade difficult to find parking though.

I think it would be good to have a place to wash our hands in public. The weather was great in the afternoon...since we visited during storm season we can't ask much from the beach.

Specialty Museums
The Museum of Shell is a fascinating attraction featuring an extensive collection of over 50,000 seashells from various parts of the world. Visitors can also admire taxidermy sea creatures and explore a gift shop on the premises.
A small but nonetheless very informative and absolutely unique museum. If you can spend the time and you happen to love sea life in general, this is a must see. The collection is ridiculous and beautifully sorted. Tip: bring your google translate app as most describing text is in French only Parking is easy when using the large parking garage (approx 400mtr walk)
H K — Google review
Absolutely loved this little gem of a place , pretty things , great for the family fun , interesting and educational well worth a visit .
Katie R — Google review
I really liked this museum. I was struck by the many and varied shells. Amazing. The staff were so nice and welcoming. My only disappointment was that there were just a few English translations alongside some French information. More information on the shells and in both languages would make it a 5 star museum. Merci pour votre gentillesse.
Elise F — Google review
Great displays and explanations mostly just in French. Not very big takes about an hour and an interesting gift shop with prices from cheap to extremely expensive. Well worth a visit.
Denis P — Google review
Excellent museum. The kids had a great time playing the quiz game too. Nice museum to visit
Nabila B — Google review
Good little museum, so many different types of shells and lots to learn. Perhaps a little on the "boring" side for kids, which is why they had prepared little quizzes to give them and little tables with papers and pencils and things to keep kids entertained as well. Ours got a little bag with a few shells at the end which they were happy with. All in all, a cute little museum, to keep you busy for between 45 minutes and 2 hours. Souvenir shop open to the public with lots of gifts etc...
Marianne — Google review
A surprisingly fascinating collection of shells from around the world. Well worth an hour's browsing with descriptions of most displays in French and translated English. Well worth a visit but the shop is a bit pricey.
Simon G — Google review
Nice collection. Friendly management and reasonably enough priced - 21 euros for 2 adults and 1 paying child (3 year old was free). We were advised the visit would take around an hour and a half but we were done probably in 30 minutes. There are lots of beautiful shells within and you could spend loads of time I am sure looking at, learning etc. Good little distraction and not too expensive, providing 4 stars as we knew what it was before paying and there were no complaints.

Le Bistrot Du Palais offers exceptional cuisine and an incredibly welcoming staff. It comes highly recommended, providing a great dining experience at a reasonable cost. This establishment is more budget-friendly compared to other seafront restaurants, while still being conveniently located just a minute's walk away from the famous "Promenade du Ramblai". Situated right behind the bustling Market Place, Le Bistrot Du Palais serves up delicious dishes that are sure to please.
Passing by chance ,the place is full ,the nice owner finds a cosy table for 2 and my basset hound ,the best couscous and moussaka we have ever had ,highly recommended thank you for a lovely meal

I cannot recommend going to this establishment! While we were dining a fight broke out between the owner and the waitress. Whatever the reason for their altercation, the owner behaved unacceptably, shouting at and terrorising the waitress; calling her names. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable harassment!

Wok restaurant
La Cabane d'Arthur is a wonderful bar situated directly on the beach, offering a mesmerizing view of the setting sun casting its warm glow upon the crashing waves. The food served here is surprisingly delightful, especially considering its beachside location. The staff members are amicable and provide attentive service to ensure an enjoyable experience for all patrons. Despite being in such a prime location, the prices at La Cabane d'Arthur remain reasonable.
Superb beach eatery offering a much needed alternative to the trad French seafood scene. Don't get me wrong, there are some superb restaurants in Sables d'Olonne, but for this Englishman it's great to have a break and a serious vegetable hit! We arrived way too early for our booking (you will need to book, because this place is popular) and were promptly seated and served. The menu is clever mixing many items to form different dishes, but it is all fresh, full of flavour and fast. Space is tight, but well arranged. I suggest anybody with limited mobility sits inside where tables and chairs are at normal heights. Wheelchairs would be difficult. Outside, it's all quite low which was not a problem for us. Outside is quite magical as you face across the bay into the sunset. With the sea at your feet and a warm breeze, what's not to like? I'll let the pictures speak for the food, but the burgers we didn't order looked awesome too. Highly recommended, but remember to book. 👍
Russell W — Google review
Very beautifully located and nicely decorated beach hut on a lesser frequented near the city center of Les Sables d'Olonne. The place is nice, but the food is poor: It may look good on Google or Instagram, but it's actually mostly out of the fryer. Vegetables were old and not tasty at all. In contrary, the food is quite pricy... drinks are ok.
Matthias S — Google review
We LOVED this place! Best Vege burger I’ve ever had!! We want the recipe! Also, poke bowl was perfection! Merci!
Christopher B — Google review
Prudence!! Yes this is a great spot on the beach but if you have any sort of allergies STEER clear. They have embraced the use of iPad style technology to place your order via a server. However they do not communicate allergies to the kitchen. The waitress who is working alone therefore has no time to make sure or take care is rushing around delivering food from the kitchen, with food that can send you to hospital, clearly showing the kitchen has not understood or the employers are unconcerned for your safety. My wife was served beautiful food but the whole experience was marred by the lack of care taken over a serious allergy. My final plate the desert was served with a piece of butter gateau yet it was only when the chef came to the table with our coffees I was able to confirm with him that the gateau had indeed been made with butter. He was very proud of his butter gateau he said it is really good. I’m sure if they want SAMU outside for publicity then they are heading in the right direction. La Cabane d’Arthur you have the technology in place with your ordering system to ensure the chef/kitchen and serving staff all know that they have someone sitting at a particular table on order number X !! Put it in place before someone eats something off of their plate before realising the chef has sent the wrong food!!
Tim A — Google review

Parc zoologique des Sables d'Olonnes is an eco-zoo located near the beaches, home to around 500 exotic animals including lions, giraffes, Amur leopards, monkeys, pandas, and penguins. The zoo is committed to animal conservation and environmental protection. Visitors can explore imaginative habitats housing about 50-70 animals at a reasonable admission fee.
We've been here 3 times now, over 2 years, and this is such a lovely zoo! Only fairly small however we love it here... giraffes the obvious favourite, however the little parrots that you can feed with nectar pots are so much fun! Totally recommend

Lovely day out, very much enjoyed this zoo. Could have been our luck but the animals were all visible and active.
Amin B — Google review
It's nice to visit with kids :) Buy the bird food at the entry, they birds are friendly. Though, a tiny trick: The birds reach more than the hall at the start, if you keep walking there's an open space near and there will be more little parrots to say hello.

Great little zoo involved in many international conservations programs. The path are surrounded with exuberant vegetation making you feel like you're in the middle of nature. Around 50 species available in great natural looking enclosures. Some shows available at times during the day. Reasonable in price, 16.50€ for an adult. The bar- restaurant is also reasonable in price.

A somewhat smaller zoo, but beautifull and fun. There is an optimal route which should take you past all enclosures. The zoo was very nice for (young) children. Hospital Blockhouse Museum is a must-see attraction, offering an insightful reminder of wartime medical practices. Located in the original German WW2 bunker complex, this small yet interesting museum features exhibits and artifacts that provide a unique perspective on healthcare during wartime. Visitors can enjoy a great English subtitled film and translation cards for an informative tour. The museum also offers a children's scavenger hunt to engage younger visitors. Although primarily in French, language barriers are overcome with translated materials provided at the entrance.
Fantastic museum. So well thought out and laid out. Very inclusive for children as they had to find clues in the displays. If you like history it's a must, it will give the chills!

Great museum to see the impact on the area! I was more familiar with the Normandy region, and this was an excellent addition of knowledge for the local area and had excellent displays.

Brilliant experience, well worth a visit. My teenager loved it. Not buggy friendly so keep that in mind. Amazing collection of artefacts and very good explanation and translation sheets available for the different areas.

Very interesting museum that remembers the town during WW2. Beat to visit early or late because by its design, it can be cramped if many people are there. Apart from learning about he Germans' medical expertise during the war, there are also interesting nuggets about the men and women from the town who fought in the Resistance.
Rónán G — Google review
Interesting historical site. No English translation available so it was a challenge to understand the explanations by the exhibits. If I was still fluent in french I would have given 5 stars!

Excellent visit and exposition of the German Army occupation of Vendée. A film with English subtitles giving a brief overview of the WWII occupation. Well worth the small price for a one hour step back into the past.

Love this place Thank you very much for the staff to explain some of the pieces in the museum Thank you

Very interesting museum set in original German WW2 bunker complex. Quite small but with lots of interesting exhibits and artefacts. A really good narrative on the local history with a great English subtitled film to set the scene as you tour the museum. Make sure you ask for the translation cards at reception. Recommend without question.

Very impressive rocks, waves splashing into them with great force. There are places to get on top of them but do so at your own risk. Watch out with little children cause there is a high dropoff. It's not very busy and an ideal place to make pictures. There is a very good Italian restaurant nearby. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Beautiful spot to visit! By the way the restaurant across the street was fabulous! 👌
Alessio C — Google review
If you head out of Les Sables d’Olonne along the coast towards Talmont St Hilaire you will come across the Puits d’Enfer - the wells of hell! There is a large car park on the side of the road and you can walk just a few meters to wards the edge where you will see the waves crashing against the granite cliffs - try to arrive at high tide for the best effect. Please note there are no barriers along the cliffs, so this may not be suitable for young children, or dogs if they are not on a lead.
Annette K — Google review
These ‘pits of hell’ are less daunting in summer, but I’ll bet that during high surge tides this is an amazing spectacle.

A rock formation with the ocean coming through in different areas, lots of tales and mythology about these rock formations.. Interesting, we walked all along the beach to get there, very pleasant walk.
Solange M — Google review
Excellent, good walk along beach, ample parking and a very impressive place

Interesting rock formation near Les Sables d'Olonne, worth the 5-10min detour if you are going south on the coastline.

Very good pizza and very nice ice cream! Service was very good.

What an amazing restaurant! Beautiful homemade food, a family owned little gem. all made in house with organic products! no packet pasta here. and the desserts are to die for. the chef has great pastry history in Michelin starred restaurants. A Must try!
Amelie L — Google review
I would definitely recommend you going to this restaurant. The food is really good. I had the pizza and it tasted delicious. The service was very nice. I would really recommend the desserts! The vanilla ice cream was very very good and so was the tiramisu! They are also very good with handeling with people who have an allergy.
Olivia T — Google review
Lovely restaurant on the beach. Service was great. Food was good and flavoursome, wish it had been served hot. Kids ravioli was not tasty unfortunately, my daughter didn’t eat more than her first bite.
Vinni S — Google review
Good restaurant. Nice views of the ocean across the street though. Used to be gluten friendly though and now it has 2 gluten free options on the menu: basic pasta and risotto. There are no attempts to accommodate. For this I give 3 stars. The gluten full options look good. Service is ok.
B B — Google review
Very hot table towards the back of the restaurant. I always find the pizza menu a bit weird and rather disappointing (for instance the "Classic" is basically a cheesy pizza loaded with sliced ham). We have been back here a few times because the location is stunning, but probably won't again.
Andy P — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place. A view which is worth the visit alone, lovely menu with excellent food. Wine arrived properly chilled, service was friendly polite and professional without being rushed. We had Carbonara and pizza both of which were excellent, desert was chocolate cake with a caramel sauce again delicious. Could not fault this restaurant and other than the wine everything was well priced. Absolutely will return and highly recommend. Visited again July 2022, still as good as ever, 73 euro including wine and dessert in a most beautiful location.

Italian restaurant
NONNA is an exceptional Italian dining establishment that offers superb cuisine and excellent customer service. It comes highly recommended due to its popularity, so making a reservation is advisable. The restaurant provides a wonderful ambiance and a wheelchair-accessible toilet, making it suitable for all patrons. The lasagne served here is unmatched in quality, while the pizza surpasses expectations with its delicious taste. The staff are friendly and accommodating, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for diners.
We walked in the rain for 2 miles because we heard this place was amazing, and it did not disappoint! We tried the risotto parma, the lasagna, and the truffle pizza. The artisanal pizza maker is from Sicily, and the dough had a great “chew” to it. The lasagna had deep flavors, and you could taste the beef throughout every bite. Often times the noodle and sauce is all you can taste. This lasagna was rich and flavorful. The risotto was light and perfectly creamy. We also ordered the burrata on arugula, which had a very strong citrus taste. It was different than what I was expecting, but a perfect light addition to start our meal. We finished with three desserts, the chocolate mousse torte (not on the menu), the hazelnut dessert, and the vanilla gelato with salted caramel (the winner!). The servers were so friendly and helpful, especially since we didn’t speak Français. The restaurant got REALLY busy, and even though the servers were actively (and quickly) attending to everyone, we saw the guests looked relaxed, happy, and everyone was having a wonderful evening dinner. We like to try different places on our travels, but we may have to visit this little gem again on this trip! At least we ordered an extra pizza to take away! Oh! The server brought us an extra treat, the Italian citrus cheesecake!! Normally I wouldn’t have ordered it because I’m not a huge lemon/lime fan, but this was actually REALLY good! Will have to have this also on the next round.

Fantastic food and service, did two nights here for pre Ironman pasta and pizza.. with a couple of sneaky carb loading beers. Great location, food was top quality and staff were super friendly. Would highly recommend.
John N — Google review
Went to Nonna with high expectations after reading the reviews but we were extremely disappointed. We arrived at 7.15 wth a reservation and were seated outside in a empty terrace even though the restaurant was half empty inside at the time. Our server was very pleasant and helpful but as the restaurant became busier it was difficult to get service as she seemed to be the only one servicing our area. For starters we had bruschetta (good) but the arrancini was luke warm and not very tasty. All our mains were served luke warm. Rigatoni with pesto was bland. Pizza’s were undercooked and salty. Steak and mushroom pasta were better. Chicken was awful, served with soggy roast potatoes and under seasoned. Cannot recommend and would not go back.
Vinni S — Google review
Fab restaurant. Just had the best lasagne ever. Lovely friendly staff. Doggie and wheelchair friendly with wheelchair toilet.

Perfect place to get dinner. The staff were amazing! The waiters were extremely welcoming, smiley, caring and professional, they made sure we were taken care of and were super kind! Located in the heart of the Olonne marshes, LES SALINES boat tour agency offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of salt production while enjoying yourself. Just a stone's throw away from the city, this excursion immerses you in a timeless experience. With various options available, such as an authentic tour of the salt beds or a bike ride through The Salt Extraction Area Les Salines, visitors can engage with and learn about the region's fascinating past and salt-making process.
Discover the old way of making salt from sea water. Very interesting and educational, but be aware almost everything is in French. The boat tour around the main canal shows the locks to renew the water and is really relaxing. The commentaries were really great to get to know the history of the place (in french...). After we got on to see a demonstration / explaination on how the salt marshes are exploited to make salt (again entirely in french), then the kids get to harvest some salt themselves. The rest of the park is to be explored by walking through points of interests with displays available. Altogether a great experience but either you're fluent like me or have basic french you will be missing on a lot of content.

Paul H — Google review
It let's it down with the lack of the tour after the salt maker... Salt's nothing like il de ré for Flavour either and shop's overpriced. Plus side cheapest canoe ride ever. It's worth it for the calm paddle down the river ( you get no instructions though 😅)
Charles W — Google review
Very interesting place to visit unfortunately everything is in French. Yes, everyone speaks English but all signs and shows are in French. A bit disappointment but still enjoyed the visit!

Such a lovely experience we bought the full package goes with boating around, it was nice view along the canal, then back the guy explains salt made, collecting of salt experince for children, and this super massive Saline plenty of adventures for children around, must visit this when you go to west of france
Emz L — Google review
We didn't do the boat trip, just the trail and the demo. Interesting slice of history and a good explanation and demonstration of the process of recovering salt from the marsh sea water. Written guide in English (or German) will give you a good idea of what's going on although without a good grasp of French you'll miss some of the detail. Exit through the obligatory gift shop with refreshments, sea salt and every salty snack and accessory you could imagine on offer. Free parking and toilets available.
Trevor W — Google review
Authentic tour of the salt beds. Some parts of the site need to be updated but the kids still had a lot of fun and we learned a lot about the history of the region and the salt making process. Kids get to harvest their own salt.

Cyril ( — Google review
Excellent experience! After reservations made via the camping (Yelloh!) app, we arrived at the meeting spot this morning to learn that our reservation was not passed on to libert-e-trott. Also the price communicated by the camping app was not correct. All of this due to it being a new collaboration since this year. But Alexi and his dad didn't want to disappoint our kids and us and put everything to work to make sure we could still join the trip around the lake. Agreements were made on the spot, they juggled around with the vehicles they brought along and sure enough after 15 minutes we were learning how to move around on the steps, soon ready for the departure. (Fyi: things were set straight immediately and camping app would be corrected first thing tomorrow). So, excellent customer-centric thinking/handling 👍👏 Clearly they can't take credit instead of mother nature for the beautiful lake and its' surrounding, but absolutely for the way the guided us around/over it, showing us the most beautiful spots to be seen, including some wildlife living on or near the lake, while with respect for it. At all time they were ahead of things, using their knowlegde of the environment, talking to locals (mostly MTB) about the newest road blocks observed and as such guided us around without any hick-up. Libert-e-trott is a young company but what they offer and the devotion with which they offer it are absolute class, they have everything it takes to make this a huge succes. We loved the trip, were very satisfied about the hosting and moved by the environment in which it took place. As such, we insist on recommending libert-e-trott as a must-do when visiting the Lac Du Jaunay!

Fast food restaurant
Well-known fast-food chain serving grilled burgers, fries & shakes.
Excellent service and fast delivery to our table, l would say the best BK l have ever had in France . Welldone guys.

It's a burger king... And somehow they managed to screw up a whopper. Kids where happy though so that's something ;).
Tommie P — Google review
Service is friendly and fast, the burgers are greasy and the beef had some residues of the grill. Looks like their grill is not so clean. Maybe because we ate 1 hour before closing. The tables and floor are fealthy dirty.
Alaa D — Google review
4 star for their products but for the service of this branch, I love burger King so I always choose this instead of any other fastfood but it's 3 star only for customer service, one of burger king slogan is HAVE IT YOUR WAY. I request to have my sandwich just one burger patty and the girl order taker in the drive thru said they cant modify my order so I said ok just cut it into half because I might not able to finish it all at once and she again denied my request and said they can't do it so yes I am a bit disappointed.
Ein L — Google review
Way better than any American Burger King I’ve ever ever been in
Thomas N — Google review
The food itself was probably the best I've ever had in a burger king (in the USA it in France) so that alone would have gotten it five stars....however, we waited 28 minutes for two meals and a small order of fries. There were people ahead of us who had waited longer and I can only imagine how people in the drive thru felt.
Brenna L — Google review
The staff were wonderful and sorted me out with fries when I forgot to order them. Bravo continue comme ça. Merci beaucoup!
Bull F — Google review
Had a take away comprised of their fries, nuggets and of course their king burger. It was OK and I really enjoyed it. Will go back, given the opportunity

Day 4

Keep it simple
For day 4, these 6 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Les Sables-d'Olonne. Start the day with Beach Sauveterre and make your way through the city to get to Les Jardins de Compostelle. This should take about 8 hours of your day.

Great quit beach wit great waves! Nice little bar with refreshments next to the lifeguard post.
Frits — Google review
Fairly decent beach for a stroll but definitely not for swimming, strong under currents and rocky shoreline would make for no fun. Nice place for kids to explore though.
Mike D — Google review
A big beach with a nice difference between high and low tide. Low tide gives plenty of sand to play on. On the two days we visited, nice waves on the first day and nothing on the second day. Secure swimming area at the main entrance to the beach, and surfing area to the right. Little cafe as well as a place for body board and surf board rental on the beach, and lots of people taking surfing lessons. Parking gets busy from lunchtime. Walk for five minutes, you can find a quiet place compared to around the beach entrance. 10 minutes walk along the beach is the nudist area.
Russell S — Google review
Great beach for the whole family with the additional barrier, so the smaller ones can play and not worry about the waves.
B Q — Google review
Nice beach, feels safe with the numerous life guards present. Parking can be a bit of hassle to find a spot , we generally had to go a few times around before someone was leaving whose spot we could have. It’s about a 5 minute walk to the beach from the parking. At the beach itself there is plenty of space (tide dependent) and a bar/shack that sells refreshments.

(Translated by Google) Wow! What a magnificent church! We stopped there by chance while passing through Les Sables and what a beautiful surprise! From the outside it is difficult to appreciate its beauty and grandeur as it is right in the city center, but once inside we were dazzled by its beauty! Impressive stained glass windows, numerous statues, decorations and details in every corner. Don't hesitate to visit it if you have the opportunity, there was a stand run by nuns unfortunately the prices are not displayed and given haphazardly (not always the same from one person to another...) and extremely expensive... too bad some accessible souvenirs would have been appreciated :) (Original) Wouah !

The Museum of the Holy Cross Abbey is a site where contemporary and modern art are displayed. It is situated in a 17th-century abbey that also showcases exhibits on the local surroundings. The museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility, making it easy for everyone to enjoy all exhibitions, including young children who can make use of an excellent booklet provided for them. Overall, it's highly recommended to visit this museum due to its rich collection and accessibility features.
Interesting museum with contemporary artists (Gaston Chaissac) and local copies of the masters (I spired by Picasso, Kandinsky, Matisse). Also a beautiful building restored from 17th century Abbey of Sainte-Croix with a section about local architecture and marine arts. Multiple temporary exhibitions in the year offer a focus on one artist or one topic.

(Translated by Google) I visited this contemporary art museum in August 2025 before it closed for renovations and saw the exhibition "Behind the Scenes," in which curator Gaelle Rageot brought out a number of works from the museum's collections to give a glimpse into previous programs, all orchestrated by works by @sansonbraun and @corentincanesson. As a regular visitor to museums, particularly contemporary art museums, I found this inventory of works very accessible because it was largely composed of painted works (and without the usual miscellaneous installations of pseudo-contemporary art). It's superb and very much to my taste. Bravo. Bravo.

I took my wife here for a long deserved romantic meal. I got recommended this place by a few different friends. It exceeded our expectations. Great food, great service and lots of extra treats. Much better than a lot of other restaurants which claim to have more accolades. Definitly recommended by us :)

The food was delicious and really well presented. We really enjoyed the menu and wine selections. The Neige de feta de chèvre et brebis etc. was very salty and we weren’t sure whether this dish should have occurred earlier in the menu because it was a surprise after the beef plate, where we were expecting something sweeter. The ambiance was relatively quiet and it was very easy to have a conversation. The place settings, cutlery, glasses, napkins etc. were perfect (no marks on glasses etc.). Finally, the team were incredibly helpful (charitable!) and tolerated our ‘bad’ French incredibly well and did their best to explain all the dishes to us. Overall, a really lovely experience.

Outstanding meal at Lea Quai des Sauvers - one of the best meals I have had for years. The chef Maxime and his team display true genius in combining so many wonderful flavours in each dish. The red mullet fish had a wonderful piqancy and the basil meringue interlude was incredibly interesting. The service was fantastic and really relaxed. We had a wonderful evening - thank you very much.

Wow this restaurant deserves a star. The food was some of the best I have eaten around the world. Perfectly balanced. The wine pairing was also excellent, on two dishes first taste of the wine I questioned why, then the food arive and the two together were a perfect match made in heaven. Bravo we will be back. Chef and your beautiful wife who was front of house have a beautiful restaurant excellent food and service 🤩.

Wow! This restaurant is fabulous. The welcome was lovely (including a phone call beforehand to warn us the parking was difficult), the restaurant itself is beautiful but not at all pretentious and the food was simply amazing. The best meal we have had in a very long time. The price was reasonable which made the evening all the more pleasant! We had a wonderful evening there and I would heartily recommend this restaurant.

(Translated by Google) As several reviews have already indicated, the shine has worn off. With a little imagination you can imagine what the garden looked like when it was well maintained. The water was green, but there were still goldfish swimming in the water. All fountains were turned off. The beginning part you walk under the trees and there are some statues. The further you walk you enter the garden area, it is beautifully landscaped, just a bit dilapidated. * It's swarming with mosquitoes.

Hamburger restaurant
Le Reef is a casual eatery with a terrace overlooking the sea. They offer burgers, salads, and steak, along with beer and snacks. The prices are reasonable for the quality provided. The portions are generous, and the staff is friendly. The restaurant offers a wide selection of locally crafted beers and healthy burger alternatives. They also have daily suggestions and specialties to choose from. The atmosphere is fancy yet quiet, making it an ideal spot in town.
Best place in the Town , Best burger ever! Love how all of the burgers can be made vegetarian as we were all non meat eaters. The cocktails and dessert was excellent as well. Definitely a favorite restaurant, we will always be coming back! Merci 🙏🏻Just had dinner there with my parents and brother and I can say it was a success. I did some research before choosing this place, and boy are we all happy (and we are difficult to please in matters regarding food hahaha). First of all the location is perfect. It is in front of the beach Des Sables d'Olonne and you can eat watching the ocean. The place itself is nice without overdoing it and reflects the charisma and quality that work there. Only thing I can think of is it can get a bit hot inside. The service was just impeccable, from the ordering, wine selection, cleaning after until our leave. The food...was simply incredible. They have 3 main menus at 18, 30, and 42euros and all of them will adapt to what price and experience you are willing to have/take. All of them have at least 3 dishes to choose from the different parts of the menu. They also have a special degustation menu if you want to try their best dishes. It's 56 euros that is basically a menu that everyone shares (since you all eat from the same base, you all have to pay the same price). The drinks are paid apart from the menu. We all tried the different plates from the 30€ menu and it was exquisite. I highly recommend the foie gras or salade langoustine as first. The cocotte, or lamb, or tuna as main, and the chocolate fondant as desert. These were the great winners for us but both the taste, textures, portions, etc of every dish were above average. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy high quality food, and don't want to or can't spend over 70€ to eat gourmet food with small portions of food. The quality and freshness you will get here is worth it. I'm attaching photos of this place and near by palaces also you may check it out.. Hope this was helpful, cheers all, and peace out.

Hmm overall it was good, but it could have been better. Don't rush people when they are eating by asking them if they have finished or not... while you can see that they still have food ob their plates... And if a customer ask for an XL burger just bring him an XL burger, it's proposed in the menu for a reason, don't advice and try to convince the customer to take the normal one cause one may need/like to eat more than the others 🤗 you are just embarrassing him/her for no reason..

Les Régates is a charming seaside restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience in Les Sables d'Olonne. After a long drive, we were thrilled to find this gem still serving food late on a Sunday night. Despite its elegant appearance with white tablecloths, the atmosphere is relaxed and prices are reasonable. The service was warm and efficient, making us feel right at home.
This restaurant was amazing! Hard to find, for some reason, but great food, great ambiance and the staff we're wonderful. Had eaten there last year and their desserts we're gigantic and filling as well. The burger I had ordered was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and the fries we're just a little undercooked but the burger made up for it. The mussels that my husband and mom ordered we're excellent. After 9h drive we arrived to Les Sables D'olonne. Me and my partner both starving and trying to find a restaurant that would still serve food on Sunday night after 9pm. This place looks outside littlebit too fancy for my taste with the white table clots right next to the ocean, but it is actually really chill and reasonably priced. We were greeted with a warm smile, fast service and polite waiter. Salty crep gets 5/5, traditional burger wasnt anything special 3/5.

Le Marbella is a charming seaside restaurant that truly captures the essence of dining by the beach. During my visit, I was fortunate to enjoy a delightful evening on their terrace while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere created by live music from nearby festivities. Despite being bustling with guests, the staff demonstrated remarkable efficiency and professionalism, ensuring that every table received prompt service.
Location and view is great! Food arrived also fast. Service was friendly and helpful.

We had dinner at this restaurant during the Fête de la Musique and chose to sit on the terrace. The ambiance was truly delightful—right by the beach, with live music playing just in front of the restaurant, adding a charming touch to the evening. Despite the high volume of guests and fully occupied tables troughout the night, the service was impressive. The staff managed everything efficiently and with great professionalism. I ordered the "poisson du jour" which was a filet de bar, perfectly complemented by a beurre nantaise sauce. It was flavorful and well prepared. For dessert I had the tiramisu—light, generously proportioned, and absolutely delicious. We were a group of 4, and everyone at the table was very satisfied with both the food (they got burgers) and the overall experience.

We arrived announced and after waiting for a few minutes, we managed to get a table of 6 despite them being busy, mostly thanks to a young runner (not a waitress) called Lea who was a delight and very helpful. The dirst waitress wasn't able to give us an indication of waiting time but Lea saw us and set a table quickly for us. We asked her to be our waitress despite her not being a waitress and she did very well. She pushed our kids food order quickly so they didnt have to wait. The restaurant is well located and has a variety of dishes to please everyone. The cherry on the cake was really the service which was great, after experiencing many waiters not that interested in earning that extra tip. Our mussels were very very salty though, not sure why it happened but the rest was great. (the creme brûlé was over done though but the banana split was a delight). Do spend that extra tip to show good waiters they are doing a great job when they are! Lea should be promoted to waiter position as she knew the menu well and was able to advise on the different dishes and take our order efficiently. Well done for overall great service. Will definitely return.

(Translated by Google) The architecture is quite curious, because the building is "drowned" in all the buildings that surround it. Which means that from a distance, you can clearly see its very typical bell tower, but in the street you could almost pass by without seeing it, if it weren't for the columns which mark the entrance. The interior gives off an impression of space, with beautiful proportions. A fresco of Saints surrounds the altar, but the ongoing restoration partially obscures it. Note at the top of the vault a painting illustrating the Trinitarian God which is found in works of theology but rarely in decorative art (see photo) (Original) L'architecture est assez curieuse, car la bâtisse est "noyée" dans l'ensemble des bâtiments qui l'entourent.

Village Vendée Globe offers a glimpse into the life of a Vendee village in the 1900s. Visitors can explore exhibits, stroll past mascots, and admire beautiful boats at the pontoon. The volunteers are kind and welcoming, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. The IMoca boats and sponsorship stands are particularly impressive, although long queues may be expected during peak times such as public holidays. Overall, it's an excellent experience with very good boats on display.

Restaurant La Cotriade Les Sables d'Olonne is a relaxed establishment with stunning views of the harbor. It offers generous seafood platters and other fish dishes, accompanied by a selection of wine. The majority of the plates are expertly prepared, showcasing the high-quality seafood. However, there was one dish that was undercooked initially but promptly rectified in the kitchen to an acceptable level. Complementing the seafood are delicious side dishes, particularly the vegetables that perfectly complemented their counterparts.

Pour maman c’était cheese Burger, classique, mais de bons ingrédients. Je recommande vraiment on s’est régalé et le personnel est souriant, serviable !

(Translated by Google) Neither delicious nor bad Nothing to eat, absolutely not worth €5 Low-end brioche bread (Original) Ni délicieux, ni mauvais Rien à manger, ne vaut absolument pas 5€ Pain brioché bas de gamme

(Translated by Google) Fries cooked and recooked, when they came out of the fryer, the fries formed a large block. We paid and let it be known that the fries were inedible, but no reaction. We left without fries, without a refund and we were not even offered freshly made fries... So service: zero!

(Translated by Google) What can I say... The double cheese: I'm still looking for the cheese. 2 steaks between 2 buns with mayo and salad. No pickles either, even though it's noted in the recipe. On the other hand, the meat is good and the fries very good. (Original) Que dire... Le double cheese: je cherche encore le cheese. 2 steak entre 2 pains avec de la mayo et de la salade. Pas de pickles non plus alors que c'est noté dans la recette. Par contre la viande est bonne et les frites très bonnes.

(Translated by Google) A restaurant set slightly back from the promenade, with a beautiful, quiet terrace, a friendly and welcoming welcome, the service is perfect, as well as, for our part, delicious mussels and fries with excellent homemade fries, and a delicious lemon tart. Found by chance, this restaurant is worth the detour. Thank you. Merci.
