Skipton Market is a unique and award-winning outdoor market located on Skipton High Street. With no fixed stalls, traders set up each day to have the market ready by 9:30 am. Dating back to Medieval times, the market operates four days a week thanks to the current owner of Skipton Castle.
I would say a must for a good Saturday. Lots of local shops, hand made cheese and jams, local cakes, tons of different merchandise and haven't seen so many charity shops in same place anywhere in UK.

Busy market, lovely traders and good bargains. Nice to see happy faces. Lots of shops still in business, beautiful scenery. Busy car park in the town centre but you can park in Morrisons for two and a half hours which is so generous. Well done to them and thank you.
Skipton market always great for scarves at great price. And we got to attend VJ ceremony. Very moving. Beautiful church too. And pole bowls at M&S.

A really lovely place, with lots of shops and plenty to explore. It is close to the canal barges, with some nice little nooks to walk through. It also has a castle and some beautiful churches and cathedrals.
It’s always nice to visit and the area is always busy so get there early to park. Parking is expensive even for disabled so we don’t go as often as we did. The market stalls are along the roadside facing the kerb so it’s safe from traffic. There are a lot less stalls than a couple of years ago but there are food stalls, baked goods, cakes, sweets as well as a couple of chandler type stalls for kitchenware. There is a good stall for slippers, I have purchased several pairs over the years and they have all worn well. There is a great stall for printed T Shirts of animals, American Indians, skulls, dragons and motorbikes. I buy one on nearly every visit because I wear them for working on cars or my dirtier hobbies and I can’t wear them out. The gentleman that runs it is so friendly and helpful, he is like a friend helping you to choose designs colours and sizes , well worth a visit. There are a number of ladies clothes stalls but they all sell similar garments and those that my wife has bought have soon fallen apart or gone out of shape. If you need a hat gents there is a good stall for cowboy style hats of all materials and good quality leather belts that last years. Finally there are a number of stalls selling what look like small home business goods of which we have had a few for ourselves as well as buying for presents. Even though the market has shrunk a lot it’s still worth a visit as it’s a nice setting with plenty of other shops and tearooms. There is a Chippy which used to be the best fish and chips I’ve had and even though it’s overpriced it was worth it. We tried it as usual but it’s our last visit, the quality has really gone down and the prices have really gone up. its fish and chips are no longer crispy and dry but wet with fat which pooled in the bottom of the tray.
Best ever enjoyed it people very friendly
Great place for walking around, shoppings with great cafes. A day place for a day trips. Right by the bus stop. Roads are all connected and it's very easy to walk around and explore.

Craven Court is a large shopping mall located in the heart of Skipton. The mall has a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants, making it a great place to spend a day. The mall is well set out and has an indoor/outdoor center that makes it feel like a little village.
This is a nice, well kept,clean shopping arcade. As usual there are a couple of tearooms of which we find the one on the upper level to be the better one. There are few unusual shops here in this hidden gem of a place. It’s a lively atmosphere there, quite busy but worth calling in if your visiting Skipton Market

Craven Court is a hidden gem right in the heart of Skipton. As soon as you walk in, you’re struck by how beautiful and unique it is. The blend of old stone architecture with a stunning Victorian-style glass roof gives it a really elegant, almost magical feel.
It’s not your typical shopping centre. Instead of big, soulless chains, you get a mix of charming boutiques, gift shops, and local retailers, alongside familiar names like H. Samuel. Everything is thoughtfully laid out and the whole space just feels classy and calm.
The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with a lovely little courtyard vibe. Whether you’re browsing or just grabbing a coffee at one of the cafés inside, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy your time.
Craven Court is also well-maintained and recently updated, with things like a new grand staircase that fits perfectly with its historic charm. It’s only a minute off the high street, but once you’re inside, it feels like you’ve stepped into another world.
All in all, it’s a beautiful and relaxing spot that’s perfect for shopping, gift-hunting, or just enjoying a break. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Skipton.
Craven Court in Skipton is such a hidden treasure! 🛍️✨ A beautiful Victorian-style shopping arcade with glass ceilings, charming architecture, and a great mix of shops and cafés. It feels really unique compared to a standard shopping centre – much more character and atmosphere.
Perfect for a wander, whether you’re looking for gifts, clothes, or just a coffee stop. Lovely independent shops alongside some well-known names make it a great balance. Definitely worth popping in while exploring Skipton town centre!
There are some nice independent shops in this small shopping arcade. We went for coffee and cake at a place called The Cakeole, ( not misspelt). The place makes you smile as you walk in. It's quirky, eclectic decor is fabulous. There's allsorts to catch your eye, from bowler hat lamp shades to chairs with wellington boots on. The ceiling is blue with white clouds on. They do a good selection of cakes, different teas, coffee and food in general. Delicious. The staff are friendly, and even the loo is quirky being papered with old Beano comics. Well worth a visit.
A very visually interesting shopping centre this one. Particularly the walkway through from the high street entrance to the main internal square. Has the appearance and scale of an old style street (stone paving flanked by stone buildings on either side) I think this maybe because that is exactly what it is? An old street repurposed as a covered walkway?
A good variety of small businesses occupy the many units here, giving opportunities for a shopping experience you may not be able to find elsewhere.
It is the large number of unique / unusual businesses in a relatively small area that is at once this places greatest strength but also a contributing factor to its greatest weakness. I would think many shoppers would want to make more than just a flying visit to the place. But staying any length of time at a shopping centre with no toilet facilities could be a challenge for some. Nearest facilities I am aware of are at the nearby high street car park.

Lots of small original shops, not your normal high street stores. Lovely walk through area if you're just browsing.
Couple of small cafes as well, to rest those tired feet. One cafe is on the terrace, with lots of room and lift access for disabled guests.
An historic and ancient town with exceptional shops and shopping experiences for those curious enough to venture off the street, along a covered passage into the special shopping areas of Craven Court. It is an experience to be tried, written and boasted about. Internet connection is good and available. There are high quality shops, restaurants, cafès and curious corners where unique things are found. I spotted frogs, lizards, birds, beetles and divers creatures, their parts cleverly beaten and crafted uniquely by hand from scrap metal cleverly assembled to look beautiful and very different. The good value health shop is one of my favourites where I can stock up on ranges and quantities of special foods and ingredients. There is high quality bedding, jewellery, clothes, a very good sweet shop and more🦄🦆🐉🦋🦐🐜🐝🍵🍦🍽♿

What a wonderful afternoon we had on The Dalesman. The staff were all friendly, attentive, professional and informative. The boat was immaculate and extremely comfortable. The afternoon tea of sandwiches and cakes were absolutely delicious and everything was so fresh. Tea and coffee was lovely and hot and you received numerous refills. Drinks from the bar were available at an extra cost. My husband had a Guinness and I had iced water which wasn't on the list but the young man kindly provided me with. Sailing down the canal was relaxing with breathtaking scenery and wildlife. We would highly recommend it to anyone. As a customer, the only thing that would make the afternoon tea perfect in my own personal opinion is to add some crisps to the afternoon tea to go alongside the sandwiches. I took our own on the day and they did make a lovely addition. THANK YOU Skipton boat trips we had the best afternoon.

We had the most amazing experience with Skipton Boats! 🚤✨ We booked a 3-hour Sunday Roast Dinner cruise to celebrate my husband’s birthday with friends, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The boat was comfortable and welcoming, the atmosphere was so relaxed, and the views along the canal were just beautiful. 🌿⛵
The Sunday roast was delicious – proper hearty food, great portions, and everything served with a smile. 🥩🥔🥕 The staff were fantastic, friendly, and made the whole trip even more special.

The four of us came down from Ayrshire for a break and we’re looking for something ‘different to do’…. So we decided to book the Public Afternoon Tea Cruise with Skipton Boat Trips, and we had an absolutely amazing time. From start to finish, the experience was truly magical.
The journey itself, aboard the luxurious Dalesman canal boat along the historic Leeds & Liverpool canal, was incredibly peaceful and picturesque. The gentle pace allowed us to truly relax and soak in the beautiful scenery. It was the perfect way to spend a few hours away from the hustle and bustle.
A huge thank you must also go to the fabulous staff on board. Although we've forgotten their names, their friendly and attentive service was impeccable. They made us feel so welcome and enhanced the entire experience with their professionalism and warmth.
This trip is a must-do for anyone visiting the area. We would highly recommend the Afternoon Tea Cruise to anyone looking for a charming, relaxing, and memorable way to see Skipton from a different perspective. We can't wait to come back!
My friend an I needed an escape from busy lives so decided an hour on the canal would be great start to an afternoon in Skipton. The commentary by Dave Spikey was both informative and hilarious and provided a great atmosphere onboard. The crew members were extremely friendly, polite and professional. The boat had a very well stocked bar for all drinks and snacks. The trip itself provided lovely scenery and was a great way to spend an hour in the sunshine. The only downside is the hour went much too quickly! Would highly recommend and we are already looking at other cruise packages for later in the year! Worth every penny and more 😃
We had a lovely afternoon tea 11 Sept. It was very well organised and the 2 young lads worked so hard and were really pleasant. Food was lovely and there was endless supply of tea and coffee. Would definately recommend and would love to try another trip.
Just 30 minutes doesn't seem a lot but of time, but it was so fabulous an experience that I've given it 5 stars . The view from the barge gives you a step back in time moment and time to reflect and enjoy the calmer side of life.
I would have liked a little bit of history on the tour but hayho, still very good.

Absolutely wonderful. My elderly father did not want to go and doesn’t like afternoon tea but even he said how nice it was and he really enjoyed the day. Unlimited tea and coffee (even decaf) throughout the trip in fact Ben and Harry were at the table every few minutes. Both my elderly mother who can hardly walk and my 85 yr old dad who uses crutches managed the 5 steps in and out of the boat with Ben & Harry’s help. We traveled 1hr 20 mins to get there and I’d definitely go again. There was even an elderly blind man on our trip and he was handled very carefully and helped to his seat
We booked the 1 hour trip online and was really happy with it.
The boat had a small bar service and a few bar snacks which was perfect for a 1 hour journey.
We was lucky to be allocated the front seat and enjoyed the lovely views and the recorded commentary onboard was funny too 🤣
We loved the fact we could take our small dog onboard and she enjoyed the whole journey.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
We would definitely recommend this trip.

We had a lovely family meal here for our daughters birthday, the service was spot on, always checking if we needed any more drinks but not too over powering. There is s great choice of food to please everyone and a fab kids menu too. Prices are really reasonable. There is also a great little kids play area if they get a bit bored.

Great food, served in a timely manner, but HUGE portions!! I made the mistake of ordering a starter and then couldn't manage my main!
To be fair, when I was placing the order, the server did ask "if I was really hungry"!!
Whilst I couldn't fault the food or the service, I'd be wary that multiple courses are probably not advisable (and not required to leave you feeling full).
Personally, I'd rather have smaller portions to enable me to have more courses and to try different foods.
Had a brilliant time at this place, fun venue, friendly staff and great food. A colleague even sang happy birthday and brought me ice cream! Would love to go back
We always pay a visit when we visit Skipton every year.
Food was delicious again.
No Mediterranean chicken so opted for pollo peppercorn chicken. Delicious and tasty full of flavour.
The steak fajitas were delicious too, loads of steak, onions and peppers.
Give this place a try if you haven’t been yourself won’t be disappointed.

First time visiting on a Saturday lunch time. Visited with my 6 year old. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was quite at 12:00 (opening time). The kids pizza was a good size (and too much for the 6 year old!) It eas slightly greener on top thanks to the pepperoni, but that's a common thing with pepperoni (which my kid loves!).
I ordered the Stromboli and whilst it was delicious it was also massive, especially for a lunch time! A smaller lunch menu would have been useful I think!
All in all very positive experience. Only thing I would say is that the pirate theme isn't overly heavy, it's only a decor and style thing. The waitresses weren't dressed as pirates or anything, so if you're expecting g a fully immersion pirate experience just be aware of this also.
Edit: 2nd visit, this time on a Thursday early evening with wife and 6 year old. Very quite again but the staff are lovely and the food is fantastic. They were wonderful with our 6 year old, chatting away with her and also sung happy birthday to my wife. Very pleasant experience, can't recommend highly enough. (Note: chimichanga was a winner!)

This was a brilliant restaurant for dinner, with a pirate theme really helping us feel welcome! This is done through the ropes like those of a pirate ship connected to the ceiling, the green plants and even netting on the sides. Staff were friendly and the counter is nicely lit, they even gave us our bill in a treasure box at the end of the meal. I had the CJ Signature burger which was so big and the toppings were packed with taste, chips were quality and cranberry juice was a refreshing drink to balance out!
Birthday treat from myself to my hubby, he had mentioned it a few times so I thought his Birthday is better time as ever.
Can not complain at all, staff were lovely & friendly from start. Food was hot & very tasty. Not long to wait for food either. Already planning to go again 😁👍

Skipton Castle is a remarkably well-preserved medieval fortress, offering visitors a unique glimpse into history. Dating back over 900 years, it stands as one of the most complete and best-preserved castles in England. The entrance through the original Norman archway leads to a Tudor courtyard adorned with a yew tree planted centuries ago. Inside, visitors can explore various rooms including the Banqueting Hall, Kitchen, Bedchamber, and Dungeon.
Historic well preserved castle. £12.50 admission card only. Very friendly informative staff. You're given a double sided a4 sheet with route and brief information about each room. The castle itself is in roof condition. An 800 year old remains of chapel near to castle within its grounds. Nice tea room for refreshments.

Loved the history behind the castle was bigger than initially thought. You get a map to follow when walking around gives you more information on history of the rooms. Beautiful preserved castle and grounds. Dogs are welcome in castle just not in shop and tea room but there is plenty of seating around.
Kids under 5 go free takes about an hour or 2 to walk round castle slowly not include grounds.
Really enjoyable look around this brilliant piece of history, you are left to walk around at your leisure which is good lots of signs explaining everything. Dog friendly which is great. It has a good car park which is a bit of a walk from the entrance but not a problem and it's something like £4.50 for the day so ideal for looking around Skipton town centre after the castle. The castle is literally 1 minute walk away.

I love castles and Skipton castle is well preserved. Half of the castle is a private home ...the rest of the castle is open to the paying public and is small. The rooms are disappointingly empty...I think they could get furniture, weapons, suits of armour, period dress etc to make them look period and a bit more interesting...visitors can move around at their leisure. There is a gift shop toilets and tea room. There is also a car park close by which is part of the castle grounds.
Absolutely loved it. Love castles and this is a good one. Not very big and apart from the few places you weren't allowed, then it's got a lot of history.
Amazing castle so much is original and in good condition. No fancy Disney stuff all original history . Some great views too. Highly recommended
Friendly staff at the gate immediately made me feel welcome here. It is amazing how a first impression like that can carry through a visit, but after I just felt like it was okay to be there. The castle itself is a substantially intact stone keep etc with roofs still in place to keep the weather out. In fact I would absolutely recommend this as a good wet weather option. I should know as it was raining throughout my visit.
There was a strange kind of duality to the place which is difficult to describe. Fully intact structure yet completely bare within, it seemed caught between living structure and standing ruin. Never quite knowing what it wants to be and landing awkwardly somewhere in between.

The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway offers a unique way to explore the Yorkshire Dales, with well-behaved dogs allowed on board. The railway runs through picturesque countryside and passes the striking ruins of Bolton Abbey, making it a great opportunity for a leisurely stroll with your furry companion.
Cute steam railway with friendly dedicated knowledgeable staff to support you in having a great trip. We walked from Bolton Abbey up to the estate, approx 40 mins walk, and had a cracking breakfast at one of the cafes en route. Estate was beautiful and great day out both on the train (parked at Embsay) and wandering around the estate. Great for families, though we were a couple.

It's amazing to see how many people work hard to make this place existing! Great atmosphere, amazing service and a lot of smiles.
This place and attraction is perfect, whether you are with children or adults.Definitely worth a visit
Brilliant experience...really enjoyed it.... journey out takes about twenty minutes ..the turnaround is a further twenty minutes and the return journey is also twenty minutes...so 1 hour. I would recommend booking tickets beforehand...and also turning up not more than 30 minutes before departure as there wasn't to do whilst waiting for the train. Plenty of car parking. Drivers, guards etc very engaging.
We were gifted a 'Dales Dining - Fish 'n' Chips' experience (gift experiences can't be booked on line but by phone or email).
It was brilliant! The staff were helpful efficient and friendly. Plentiful tea and coffee to accompany the meal were included plus the option of paying for a drinks order from the well stocked bar. Lovely scenery and a chance to stretch the old legs at Bolton Abbey Station. (
We had afternoon tea here, absolutely wonderful, the staff were really friendly & helpful, would highly recommend if your in the area or just love steam trains.
Lovely little train ride but it's a shame you can't book return journeys to allow for the lovely walk at Bolton Abbey and just have to hope there will be space at the time you want to go back. They did say they were going to look into this though and it's a perfect excuse to enjoy some tea and cake in the station cafe while you wait for the next train.
Brilliant experience on a steam train. The station was spotless and the staff very pleasant. We had breakfast on the train which was delicious. Non stop coffee and fruit juice. It is well worth a visit. Great day.

It takes about half an hour each way but you can get off at Bolton Abbey, have a walk round then get the next one back if you have a return ticket.

A group of six thoroughly enjoyed their dinner, which was complemented by good service.
Visiting Skipton and this restaurant was recommended. Really glad I visited. I had a fantastic meal. All the chicken was perfectly cooked and the lamb balti was superb. All 6 of us really enjoyed our dinner and the service was good as well. The next time I'm in Skipton it'll be first place on my list. I also really enjoyed the Gluten Free pilsner that was on tap. I even contacted the brewery and bought some.

Been a long time since I've been to a Aagrah and was glad I did, food was tasty and plentiful. Staff were nice and chatty and checked several times to see if everything was ok. I'll definitely be trying Aagrah again but probably nearer to home.
Food was nice. We ordered aloo tikki and gawala mandi kebab for starter, chicken jalfrezi, lamb karahi and veg bhuna for main all over food was nice but service little slow anyway thanks we enjoyed the food
The decor was really nice but we had the poppadoms and pickle tray and when they arrived it was just takeaway plastic pots which I have never had in a restaurant before. The main was small pieces of chicken and was really bland, the staff werw fine until we complained and wouldn't pay for my main and then they changed and got quite rude. We will not be returning.
Terrible. Not great food. Soft poppadoms. Not nice chutneys. No pickle. Naan bread awful. Pilau rice terrible. Avoid.

Lovely little spot, easy to find too! Warm and inviting, with soft french jazz music playing in the background. The members of staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was great - the beef brisket from the main menu, was beautifully tender and the wine menu was excellent too with a lot choices!
I dined alone as I was here for work and in some places that can feel "uncomfortable/awkward" but not here.

We booked out the upstairs room for a meal for a surprise Wedding Anniversary party. Honestly it was amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient and went above and beyond for us. The food was absolutely delicious, every single one of us enjoyed our meal and everything ran really smoothly even with 45 of us on a super busy Saturday evening. Could not fault anything at all and they were a huge part of an amazing celebration for us! Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!!

Safe to say that this is one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We were a party of 4, and everyone really enjoyed their starters and mains. Service was excellent and food was out of this world, especially my seafood money bag (pictured) and great value at £24 for two courses on a Sunday. Thank you for a fabulous experience! Absolutely fantastic meal. The liver pâté starter was smooth, rich, and full of flavour, and the sea bass was cooked beautifully with crisp skin and was perfectly seasoned. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. You can tell real care goes into both the food and the service. Highly recommend!

The food was very delicious and tasty. Only comment is there was so much oil involved. However, a 10/10 experience.
Loved this place. Super cozy vibe and really friendly staff. I had the seafood money bag which was crispy, full of flavour, and served with the most delicious sauce. Everything felt fresh and made with care. Can’t wait to go back. Would recommend.

Been here twice. I deliver the milk here and always shut at 4am so finally came and it was amazing I had full English it wasn't greasy perfectly cooked then had to come back couple days later and I'll be back in couple days one of the best breakfasts I have had in skipton. To top it off the staff are so friendly. And the coffee is incredible.

Called by here on a Tues end of April, although we could have also picked one of at least two other adjacent coffee shops ! Glad we decided to on the Mill though, the staff our super lovely. Service is brilliant. We just had coffees and a slice of their home made lemon drizzle cake (which was sublime). There’s a nice courtyard out the back leading to a passage to the town. It’s dog friendly. The owners/staff seem to really care about your visit here and wished us a good day as we left 🙂
In Skipton for a couple of days and popped in for lunch. Busy (we had to wait a couple of minutes for a table) but a good choice. Food excellent when it arrived and had a chat with the owners about the history of the place.

Wonderful visit to The Coffee Mill whilst on holiday. Great service and food. Staff were very accommodating for our 8 month old daughter. Very obvious it’s loved by locals, staff knew many by name and their orders which is lovely.
My friend & I called into The Coffee Mill for a lunchtime cuppa & a bite to eat. My friend had a cinnamon scone with butter & jam & I had a toasted teacake with Wensleydale cheese....absolutely delicious! Our server, Kiri, was lovely. She made us welcome & chatted to us. Other customers were having full freshly cooked meals & it all looked great! Highly recommended!

I took the opportunity to take up my Pizza Express reward of a 3 course meal for £25 this evening as I was home alone and I didn't fancy going home to cook a meal after a long hard day at work.
I had the Meatballs Al Forno for my starter, which wasn't very nice as the meat balls tasted of very unpleasant ultra processed meat. The best dish of my meal was the main course of Sloppy Giuseppe classic pizza. I was very disappointed with my Honeycomb and mascarpone cheesecake with smooth salted caramel and chocolate on a rich biscuit base with vanilla gelato dessert, as despite the very tempting description on the menu, it was very, very sweet and just tasted of sugars.
So although it seemed like a good value 3 course meal offer the only dish I enjoyed was the pizza and on reflection I would have been better off if I had just ordered a large Romana pizza for £19, as my starter and dessert weren't very nice.
Great food, efficient service, I visited rather early on a weekday however so it was not particularly lively. Ended up finding their September deal of £1 for a classic pizza if you buy a full price one.
This was a fantastic restaurant to dine in at, with pretty designs crafted from the lines! The staff promptly took me to a booked table, drinks options are clear and water is served for free before the meal. I had sweet and hot Honey Dough Balls as a starter, followed by a flavoursome Garlic Prawn Pizza and a classic Coca-Cola to drink! The seating is comfortable and can fit many together, cleanliness was fine too.
Awful experience...the waitress had a could not care attitude. The food was not what it used to be. The garlic mushroom starters were bland watery and under seasoned..the vegan gluten-free vegan pizza was tasteless and tiny compared to normal pizza coming out the kitchen. The peperonata pasta was dry bland and horrible and was removed from the bill after I complained. We used to be huge Pizza Express fans and dined at branches all over the country from London to Edinburgh and everywhere in between. This is our last visit, never again.
We were served by a lovely lady called Vinny. She has served us before and always makes sure I get my pizza the way I like it. "pale". The restaurant is handy for shoppers and the food is always good. Pizza express is the best pizza in the country as far as I am concerned and dough balls are heavenly.
Very nice meal. Staff were friendly and attentive. Only downside was the new menu has very little pasta on it which is what I was hoping for give I had already had pizza that day. Other than that we had a lovely time and will be returning.
The food was great but the service of one gentleman dressed as the manager left a sour taste. He complained that we booked "last minute" on the app which was an hour before our arrival, nothing on the app says about minimum prior booking time. He also complained when we arrived slightly late that he'd had to turn away other people despite the restaurant being 60% empty and the full first floor area being completely empty. Only two other bookings arrived after us. The lady who served our table couldn't have been more helpful, but unfortunately the manager should not be working in a customer facing role.

We've both just the most amazing meal at Bizzie Lizzie's this evening.
We we're greeted as we entered the eating area and seated immediately.
I ordered large battered haddock with salad. Nice batter on the succulent haddock and not greasy at all and the salad was crispy and fresh.
The staff were busy but super friendly. Nothing was to much trouble, for any of them.
The young girl who shone through was called Keira.
She was super efficient in all her tasks she carried out whilst we were there, especially when taking an order and making an extra special effort to get it exactly right.
Worth every penny for this service.
Won't hesitate to call again when we're next in the area.

Superb Fish & Chips with excellent service. The staff were very polite and looked after us well. If you fancy something different there is chicken goujons, Yorkshire pudding with beef, plenty of fish options. We had the breaded plaice and the battered haddock both with chips and bread and butter. The mushy peas and curry sauce topped it of nicely. Super portions, very tasty and all overlooking the canal.
Downstairs it's a chippy upstairs is a lovely restaurant. The fish and chips with a pot of tea hit the spot. The service was great as was the food. Will call again when next in Skipton.

I have three hours in Skipton (Coach tour) was shown to a table in this fish restaurant 22 minutes ago. Have to call someone over to place my order, they seem to have forgotten about me. As you can see Lizzie's is not that Busy today. Also the door is wide open and I'm sitting in a terrible draft. Still no signs of food after 30 minutes. This is not a good experience at all.
The response below is not in tune with my recollection, even if I am old.
I made return visit on 1st June 2025 having travelled from Tyneside. My experience today was very happily the extreme opposite of my first visit. Service was blisteringly fast from a very pleasant young lady.
I have no hesitation in suggesting you come here for a very tasty fish and chip lunch.
The picture of my empty plate should tell you all you need to know about the quality of the food.
I used to come here as a child (before it was Bizzie Lizzie's) with my grandparents. They were always advocates of good batter. I'm delighted to say that under a (now not-so-) new name, it's still every bit as good. Food quality is as high as anywhere I've been, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere exactly as it should be for the traditional experience of proper fish and chips. My rather picky-eater son polished off the lot without any difficulty, which says much. It has become for us an annual pilgrimage.

Booked Alexanders for a girls day with my mum and sister. After going to skipton market we decided to see if we were able to get seated earlier as the weather wasn't great, the staff seated us straight away and were all so friendly and attentive. The place was quite busy and had a lovely atmosphere, really chilled but felt high end. The food was amazing! Really well presented and so tasty and the portions were a good size. The seafood tasted really fresh. Will definitely return 😊
This place had been recommended to us by a family member, so since we were in the area we decided to give it a go, and it did not disappoint! We visited on a Friday during lunch time and although we hadn't booked, we were shown to a table promptly by friendly staff.
To drink we ordered a flat white which was professionally made with a pattern on top, and a pot of loose leaf tea which was served in pretty crockery. The menu offers a large choice of options from main meals such fish and chips or steak, to lighter options like sandwiches or 'nibbles'. We opted for the Lebanese Flatbread (flat bread with hummous and Tzatziki dips), this was a starter but we ordered it to come with our mains to share. We also ordered the Fishfinger ‘Butty’ Luxe and the BBQ pulled pork bao bun; both of these dishes were accompanied by a pot of coleslaw which was some of the nicest coleslaw I’ve ever had, it was so creamy and tasty. The fish finger butty was described as being fish goujons, but when it arrived it was actually a single large fish. It still tasted amazing so not an issue, but was probably more difficult to eat than a few smaller goujons as described. All of these dishes were extremely tasty and definitely worth the money. We also loved that the restaurant had an open kitchen, meaning you can see the chefs preparing the food. Always a good sign of a hygienic well presented restaurant, as there's nowhere to hide.
Overall if you are looking for a very nicely decorated modern restaurant in Skipton that provides great service, and even better food, then this is the place for you. We will definitely return when we are next in Skipton.

A bit of a hit and miss first visit, but we will be back.
Booked a table for Wednesday lunchtime, and we were greatly impressed with the greeting and the surroundings - Alexander's truly does feel like a grand café from an era gone by.
We were seated at a table for 2, which is all well and good, but there were 2 people on a 4 top next to us, which meant I had to keep shuffling my chair in and out to let waiters and the two (incredibly rude) customers to my left out.
The menu reads fantasticly, and it certainly took some time to choose what to have - both of us going for two courses - Flatbreads and Croquettes to start (both of these were excellent) and the Fish Goujon sandwich and Fish and Chips.
The waiter who served us was pleasant enough, but a bit of a rabbit in the headlights - he forgot what I ordered straight after I told him (no notepad to jot it down was a bit odd) - and he also struggled when clearing plates off our table and the one next to us - seeing him scramble around on the floor for cutlery was a bit cringey in the environment.
My wife's sandwich was excellent I will say, however my fish and chips was just a little, odd tasting. The chips were very dry and slightly bitter tasting, and every other bite of my fish and chips left a slightly weird taste in my mouth - Wether that was the remnants of the chips I'm not sure, as the fish my wife had was excellent - but I just couldn't enjoy every mouthful.
I really hate complaining, and the fact the starters were excellent, and the venue itself superb, left me thinking that maybe I just got a bit unlucky with what I ordered. But there is definitely room for improvement on our next visit
Delicious food, beautiful interior, great attentive service. I got the pistachio / mushroom pasta which was SO SO good and reminiscent of my visits to Italy. For dessert I ordered the pear sticky toffee pudding, (without the rum crème) which was delicious! We also had a bake to take away, pictured in the first photo. We ate on the terrace, the heaters made it enjoyable.
Me and my mum drove to Skipton for a few hours out and decided to stop at Alexander’s for a drink and a quick snack. First impressions were good, the place looked nice and the menu sounded promising, even though the sandwiches weren’t cheap.
We ordered drinks, sandwiches, and some water for the table. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly, and we sat chatting while waiting for the food. After we’d finished our drinks, we realised we’d been waiting quite a while, nearly 40 minutes , and still no sign of our sandwiches. We eventually called a member of staff over to ask how much longer it would be, only to be told that our food order hadn’t been put through at all.
By that point, we no longer had time to wait, so we had to leave without eating. Disappointingly, we were still charged full price for the drinks.
A real shame, as we were looking forward to our visit. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
Fabulous experience. Went for afternoon tea and it could not have been better. Plenty to eat, washed down with plenty tea, in nice surroundings, and friendly, attentive staff.

Absolutely loved this cafe we stumbled across when we came for the day to Skipton. We didn't know about it and it is up a side street so not easy to see but we are very pleased we did.

The food!!!!!!! We had Eggs Benedict and we absolutely loved it. Different as it had pulled ham rather than a piece of ham but we thought that was great and it tasted fab!!!
The lady serving us was also lovely and we felt attended to and not ignored with us being outside which can sometimes happen when you're outside a venue.

We were seated immediately and were given consideration for our pram that we brought inside with us. The waitress was polite and friendly and quickly took our order. The food arrived quickly and was tasty and hot. Some of the fluffiest and tastiest pancakes I've ever had and the tea was lovely and aromatic too.
When we asked for the bill it was promptly brought, clean tables and interior. Would definitely recommend.

This was a super pub for drinking, with musical instruments dangling from the ceiling! A disco ball is also shown for the atmosphere and blue coloured lighting adds to this, records cover the walls of the pub. Counter is well presented and staff were friendly, I enjoyed a traditional pint of Czech Budweiser at comfortable seating outside in the warmth!
Great bar with some awesome imported beers. From the budvar on tap to the Berliner pilsner and the fruh in bottles. The DJ was totally on point and everyone was dancing and having a great time. The only drawback was that it closed too early. Maybe because of the noise the place generates. Great place to go

Popped in for a quick pint before food and found a little gem of a pub. You can get a lovely pint(best of the day). You can even browse and buy vinyls if you like. We sat outside on a beautiful late September day and had a cracking afternoon. We will definitely come back on an evening next time.

We discovered a delightful new Turkish restaurant called Efendy in Skipton, and it comes highly recommended. The menu offers a wide range of delectable dishes, and our party of six thoroughly enjoyed their choices. One appetizer that stood out was the deep-fried goats cheese starter, which was both special and one of the vegetarian options available – it was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Additionally, they had an appealing assortment of desserts to choose from.

Having recently moved to Skipton, we'd done the online scouting of best eateries, and had seen Efendy was right up near the top.
After dinner last night, I can see why
Between 3 of us we shared two Mixed Grill Platters and the Chicken Fajitas, and everything was absolutely spot on. Beautifully marinated meat, all flavoursome and complimentary to one another, the little side touches such as the dipping sauce and the tzarziki, and not an overbearing amount of food.
Although we were fairly stuffed, we just had to try the desserts, with the homemade Baklava and the Chocolate Orange Brownie Cake (I forget it's proper name 😂) both beautifully tasty.

Place itself needs a face-lift in my opinion but dont let that put you off as the two mains we had were simply delicious certainly up there with the best we have had including top end Indian restaurants, service was friendly and attentive, a must if you like a quality curry.
“Slow” lamb was very chewy but not too oily. Chicken tikka starter was below average at best. Breads were soggy and tasteless. Samosas were greasy with very little filling and very greasy. Flavour was ok but meat was very disappointing.
They opened up 1hr earlier for us when we knocked which was lovely as it was freezing cold outside and we were passing through Skipton on our way back to London having been out and about sightseeing around Yorkshire all day. That was really nice of them.
Their attention to us was lovely, the meal was very cheap in comparison to our favourite Indian dish near Canterbury - almost half the price actually. Their northern hospitality was really nice.
The food was good but not excellent. The Indian we love is so flavoursome that the guy is catering our wedding and with his meals not only do you add nothing to it but you drink water just so you don’t miss out on any of the taste and flavour. With this meal we had to add salt, chutney, lemon etc to finally achieve the rich flavour we wanted. I would have liked to see more flavour going into the meals. Having said that, the tandoori lamb in my Makhani has that 10/10 rich flavour I was looking for. And despite having been cooked in the tandoor, it was tender enough not to be chewed for long and was very nice to eat. The king prawns in the king prawn puri were smaller than we are used to for king prawns and there could have been one or two more. That dish also needed chutney and lemon and salt to complete the flavour, but was nice. The lamb in the Makhani was a lot, they didn’t do that sparingly and that was nice. The puri and chapati were both made from whole meal flour and were quite dry. The chapati was very dry and hardened quickly and I’m not sure why. We prefer soft normal flour chapati.
All in all - 7/10 and if we are ever in the area we’d go back and ask for more flavour and non wholemeal chapati.

I have eaten at other restaurants in Skipton, although they have good standards, Mastabs has better standards. One of the best things about this restaurant is the customer service. The owner served us and his personality matches the business. Staff were always checking up on us and always made conversation.
Food was delicious and served very quickly. One of our main was even a special creation of haddock by the chef just for us so a lovely touch.
Will certainly be going back again. Thanks guys

We had chicken breast, fries, mushy peas, and peppercorn sauce, Mon to Fri 2 classic meals for £28, similar deals on the burger menu, we saw some coming out from kitchen they were massive.
Good choice of ales and wine, food was tasty and generous portions, but we had to wait about 25 mins probably due to the pub being busy, but worth the wait.
Massive beer garden advertised on screens in the pub but have to wait until weather improves to check out.Will visit again when next in Skipton

Had lunch here today, after walking the canal from Gargrave. Friendly welcome from staff, who made a fuss of our cocker spaniel, who then said we can sit anywhere either in beer garden or inside. We sat in beer garden to have a drink while deciding what we were going to have to eat. We found a table inside in the window where we could people watch while eating. Our food was very tasty, well presented & very reasonably priced. All staff were friendly & attentive. Definitely wouldn't hesitate in going back again.
Came in for dinner last night and the burgers were amazing!! All patties homemade and delicious. Really generous portions and reasonably priced. Waitress that looked after us was really friendly, smiley and helpful. Wish we'd got her name but thank you!!
Found this very nice pub with outside space near the canal in Skipton. We sat out in the sun and both chose ploughman's lunches. The food was excellent and good value at £30 for two. The wine was pricey at £23 but in line with most places here. Service was attentive maybe a little excessive but fine. Recommended.
Fantastic local pub with excellent food. The outdoor seating area is very spacious for large groups, and in the colder months the inside is cozy too.
Table service was quick and efficient, and food arrived about 20 minutes after ordering. There is a varied selection of gluten free options as well.
Staff are friendly and polite, and the pub is clean and tidy, and not cramped or cluttered.
We have been coming as a couple every year for 10 years+, and constantly tell our family how good it is, so when the opportunity arose we all came, 11 of us and 2 dogs, no pre-ordering, and food was as good as always and almost all of it out together. This was our first visit, and it certainly won't be our last! The pub was full, but a table came free quite quickly, so we sat down to look at the menu. I had the Ploughman's Lunch, which was huge, my Husband had the Bavarian Bratwurst with beef chilli. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, the service was fast and efficient. We will definitely be coming back, and would highly recommend a visit to anyone passing through Skipton.
Called for an early evening meal on a Tuesday. Hadn't booked a table but the helpful and welcoming server asked us to take a seat and promptly came over to take our drinks orders. Good selection of classic pub grub from pies to ploughman's and some light bites. We had a burger and the fish & chips. Hearty portions and delicious! Very attentive waiting team. Although we're relatively local, we've not eaten here before but will definitely back! Highly recommended.

This is another great pub that we found purely by accident but was a cracking find. The beer was on very decent form but unfortunately wasn't a particularly good beer and not to my liking, to be honest the range was quite poor. Went in after a walk looking for a sit, a drink, and some food. Got a comfy seat outside in the gorgeous little garden and got a drink but unfortunately no food as they now only do food Monday-Saturday. Apart from that, a great little pub! Dog friendly inside and out, clean well stocked toilets (with handy grab rails in the ladies, very appreciated by a stiff and sore sitter), and what looked to be a good selection of drinks, as we had soft drinks, at reasonable prices. It looked to be a popular place as there were lots of folx in on a Sunday afternoon and I can definitely see why!

We had the most amazing time here and can’t recommend it enough for families with young children! From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the animals and the visitor experience.
The farm is beautifully kept, and there’s so much to do. Our kids (ages 3 and 6) absolutely loved feeding the goats and meeting the baby lambs. The animal petting area was a huge hit, with opportunities to hold rabbits and guinea pigs—such a gentle, hands-on experience that the children are still talking about.
There’s also a fantastic adventure playground, tractor rides, and a soft play area indoors, which came in handy when the weather turned briefly. Everything was clean, safe, and thoughtfully set up for families.
We were really impressed with the café too—great coffee, homemade cakes, and a decent kids’ menu with healthy options. Plenty of picnic areas as well if you prefer to bring your own food.
What really stood out was how interactive and educational everything was. The talks and feeding demonstrations were engaging without being too long, and the staff made sure the kids could ask questions and get involved.
We spent nearly the whole day there and could easily have stayed longer. A perfect mix of fun, learning, and fresh air. We’ll definitely be coming back—and bringing friends next time!

Festival of Fun event!
Great farm for children with a range of animals, all very well looked after.
Different events going off around the farm from feeding and petting rabbits, Guinea pigs. Pony riding, pirate shows and a princess show too with a meet and greet after.
Play gym was clean and staff were very helpful. Kids loved the caterpillar ride, go karts aged 6-12. Great playground too.

Not a massive farm but plenty to do and see.
We love that included in the price are some experiences such as the petting zone and the soft play.
The extra costs such as safari are not too expensive and worth paying for for the experience.
We have visited twice now and both times have seen a 'show' in the marquee as part of entrance fee.
The staff are LOVELY. Very knowledgeable about the area, farm and of course the animals.
They are happy to stand and talk to you about the farm.
So friendly and welcoming.
They have a little outdoor play area and bounce pillows and tractors to ride also.
Visited for the Bonfire and Fireworks on the Friday night (7th). Had such a good time. Lots of other entertainment on as well - bar, street food, rides for the kids etc. Great night all round. Amazing display.
We camped in the field with friends who had a camper van we were in tents. Great location and the attached farm is amazing ideal for kids after all ages..we were there during the lawnmower racing championships which was awesome to watch. That's in addition the the farm animals and petting zoo.
Facilities were. Clean and well maintained and amazing views across Yorkshire dales. High recoment this as a camp site and fun weekend or week long camp trip for families
A Fantastic Farm Adventure!
We stumbled upon this gem the night before our visit, searching for a local outdoor activity to enjoy with my three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. What a find! We snagged a brilliant weekday deal for £8.95 for both of us, pre-school holidays, making it excellent value from the off.
We added a bag of animal feed for £2, which was well worth it for the interactive fun. My daughter absolutely adored the 'caterpillar ride' – a charming journey snaking around a field, pulled by a quad bike.
The farm itself is easy to find with ample parking. The animals are incredibly well-kept and so friendly, happily interacting with the children who were petting and feeding them. Every member of staff we encountered was genuinely friendly and welcoming.
Beyond the animals, there's a lovely outdoor park and an indoor play area complete with a café, offering plenty to keep little ones entertained. The views across the countryside are simply stunning too.
We also opted for the 'Farm Safari', led by a wonderfully entertaining gentleman. He took the time to stop at each animal enclosure, allowing us to get a closer look and plenty of photos – a highly recommended extra!
All in all, it was a truly fantastic and great value day out. We'll definitely be returning!
We visited 27/10/25 for the Spooks event during half term.
We visited Trick or Treat Street, The pumpkin patch, The Rustic Garden for the School of Evil show and food, the bouncing pillows, the animal barns and the Soft Play.
Trick or Treat Street was great, you move as a small group and knock on the doors for a Trick or a Treat. The characters were great and included all children.
The School of Evil show was great. The kids age 6 and 7 really enjoyed this and the dance moves. They even got the adults up dancing too and gave time at the end for pictures, I noticed they made an effort with each child which was lovely.
We got coffees and food from the food truck. The coffees at £3 each were disappointing and the bar coffee machine wasn't working. Our meals were nice. The children's portion sizes were decent sized, good enough for an adult.
The pumpkin patch is good and one of the less muddy ones, with some lovely photo opportunities. Pumpkins not included and these are extra. There was a pumpkin carving area in one of the barns so you could carve on the day if you wished.
There are a couple of animal areas, but I feel that these are lacking compared to other farms. We love animals so it would be nice to have some more areas.
The soft play is large and the kids really enjoyed it. We were glad we ate at the rustic garden as the queue was so long and the QR option to order from your table wasn't working. But they do offer a larger selection of food here.
All staff at the farm were friendly and pleasant. As it was half term it was busy just queuing in at opening, yet staff remained friendly to everyone despite the constant queue.
We have visited Thornton Hall several times before and have enjoyed ourself each time.
We won tickets for the Monster Trucks and we had the best time! Lots of things to do to keep us going all day and yummy food stalls. We can't wait to find another themed day to enjoy.

The park features a wooden play area with climbing frames, swings, rope bridges, slides, and a zip wire for children to enjoy. Additionally, the lush green parkland provides ample space for picnics and ball games. For older kids, there's a skate park where they can showcase their skills.

Decent park plenty of stuff for kids to play on. Parking is payable 70p for an hour or ofc walk there.
Good fields around to walk the dogs and it's next too a leisure centre which has a cafe attached. No public toilets from what I could see but there is some inside the centre.
This is a very well equipped park, lots of new wooden equipment that are well looked after. There is enough here to keep your kids busy for hours. The surrounding area is very well looked after and there is ample seating to sit and watch the kids. There is a sand area, as well as a few slides and climbing areas. A very nice edition is the child's swing you can share as a parent. I would recommend this park to all parents with young kids!
Went for a walk in the aftermath of Storm Amy. Had hoped to run Parkrun the day before but was cancelled due to the storm. So I strad we had a lovely walk around the course instead. Few more hills than my usual run in Manchester but I look forward to returning in more Clement times
I visited Aireville Park today for the purpose of trying out the fitness suite. It was 17:45 today being a Wednesday all fairly quiet in the gym and there would have been no issues in accessing the individual pieces of the equipment. But I was attending the gym areas for a fittness and coordination test
A great park for the town. There is a skate park, bike terrain as two great additions, plus multi-equipment area, tennis courts plus rolling slopes and paths. The leisure centre includes a pool, gym and a wide variety of activities, including tennis and even table tennis outside.
Good place for near teenage kids but a shame that parking is so expensive.
Also, the young play area gates are broken so it's not secure.
With a little more maintenance, it could be a great place to take young children.

Matrix Superbowl is a great place to gather friends or family for a few hours of competitive fun. It's an ideal option for indoor entertainment on rainy days, offering not only bowling but also snooker, pool, and a soft-play area for the little ones. The snooker tables are well-sized and properly lit, making it a fantastic spot to play with friends. Despite some minor service issues, the reasonable prices and reliable cues make it worth visiting.
I went there as part of my wife's birthday celebration. She had a lovely time there. The place is well equipped for bowling, darts, snooker and alot more. They have an in-house restaurant where they serve food and drinks. They also have a nice play area for kids. I tried to win the PS5 that was in the raffle but I lost

Great place and great staff, we went to the soft play zone which was very well priced with nice coffee and food (hot chocolate was also very nice) play area also has a fire station and bakery area. Down the hall was pool, snooker and darts and downstairs was the bowling. When I ask pricing for the other areas they seemed very reasonable too. The place is clean and the staff were lovely
Visited today. Weather terrible outside so very busy but they squeezed us in. Great team and very good prices. We are visiting the area and had a dog with us who’s small and very well behaved so they allowed him to enter which made it even better. Would 100% recommend
This was a fantastic place to play snooker with my friends, having properly sized tables that are efficiently lit up when any game is booked! The prices of snooker time were reasonable for the hour and additional half an hour that we booked, also the cues were very reliable. I was not too impressed by the service though, as none of the staff were there to take the balls when they were returned and one confirmed that chips are the least expensive cooked item even thought they cost £4.

Took my little boy bowling here, pre booked online as the last few times we came it was packed (half term) we arrived around 25 minutes early and the lanes were all in use so took him up to the play zone upstairs and explained that i just wanted to pay for a half an hour session as we had pre booked bowling and had 20 minutes spare and the lass just smiled and said "don't worry about it if its just for 20 minutes" didn't get her name but that was a lovely gesture!! And a brilliant way to get repeat customers. All the staff there were brilliant every time I've been.
But whoever was in charge of the playzone at 16:10 on Monday 10/02/25 PLEASE GIVE HER MY THANKS AND PRAISE.
She deserves good feedback, we spent over £60 in total there but that gesture was 5/5 bowling was fun too. Its a good vibe in there 👌
Went upstairs to the softplay with my grandson. It is very useful if you have to leave your vehicle at one of the garages and you are stuck with children. You can have a brew while they play. Bowling is downstairs.

While the food at this location was generally good, with the exception of the sausages, there were several issues that detracted from the overall experience. The lack of a menu on the wall upon entering was inconvenient, and the dirty cutlery and cups were disappointing. Additionally, the staff seemed unhappy and uninviting, and we were no longer able to get our own drinks as we had in the past. To top it off, the WiFi was not functioning. These issues make us likely to choose a different location for our next visit
Had a couldn't be bothered morning and popped in for breakfast. Would be nice to have a option to switch fried bread (yes, yes I know it's a dry up). Bean to cup coffee a bonus as well. Place is clean and everyone polite and helpful.

Wasn't good. It wasn't the staffs fault but the automated system of ordering food and drink just doesn't work. I ordered a tea and scone with Jam and I got 2pots of tea, never received the scone. Things were that bad that the manager of the cafe took to hiding in the back and was refusing to come out and deal with complaints leaving her poor staff to cope, she gets paid to deal with issues.

A small Burger King that shares with a Greggs. Have 2 self service machines to order from. A slight wait for food. Not sure if it’s just this one or all burger kings but there didn’t seem to be that many options, sure there used to be more burger variety. Food was nice. The burger didn’t have that char grilled flavour you expect from a BK. Tried those Dorito chicken things not worth the money. There was a bit of Dorito seasoning over them but would have been better if they were coated in them and super crispy but they weren’t. £20 for a large meal and kids.

Called in on the way home and forgot how expensive it is £18 for 2 burger meals, and on top, they want to charge you for mayo burger was ok love the tomato onion lettuce on it even if burger was a bit cool. Surprised, they didn't charge extra for mayo on it, chips were way over salted to point and couldn't eat them. Also, floor dirty in the waiting area needed a quick clean and rubbish picking up.
I prefer BK to McDonalds, and this is the first time I've visited this specific location. It's a bit run down looking, and I honestly wasn't even sure it was open when I pulled in, all the chairs were stacked as if closed but looking at opening times they wouldn't be shut for another 2 hours after I arrived. Still, food was OK.
Today I stopped at this Burger King on our way driving down to Manchester and honestly wish I’d waited for another spot. Not a single glove or hairnet in sight, lady behind the counter sneezing all over.
Thought I’d just ignore all that as I’d already ordered unfortunately. The two girls behind the counter looked so confused constantly, terrible attitude on them when speaking to each other. Plus very unclean restaurant in general, rubbish all over the floor. I knew I’d made a mistake.
THEN when I was given my food and set off on my journey again, to my absolute horror, hairs all in my fries, every other frie had a hair on it. Given a vanilla milkshake instead of chocolate one too. I’m not done yet… to top this all off I noticed they had forgot to put the chicken in my chicken royale. Literally the main ingredient, how does someone even do that?? Forgetting the additional extras like sauce and stuff I understand. But the chicken… in a chicken burger?? What are you smoking! It wasn’t busy at all it was basically only us in there. Absolutely mental, hire better staff Burger King!!

Greggs & Burger King sharing the same space is a godly combo. BK food seems £££ for what you get, but when there’s a slice of pizza and a Sugar Strand Donut to hand too… Glorious.
Car park was a very bad lay out and felt dangerous and I also got blocked in a space at one point because other customers were parking in the road, it was ridiculous, when I was ready to leave I had to do a 5 point turn to leave. I placed order and pressed button for “Eat in”. But my food came in a brown bag and cup holder, no tray. My burger was warm, not hot, my partners burger was colder and the bacon was mostly fat. Chips were fine, so we were able to eat something. Bin was overflowing with liquids leaking from bottom and flowing onto shop floor, we actually couldn’t put our leftovers into the bin, we didn’t to make it worse, all the dining tables were dirty and sticky which is why I wanted a tray. Food on the floor under the tables. Felt very unclean.
Service was very slow, took over 25 mins to get food. Not enough staff on and the place was dirty and grubby. Toilets were awful, dirty, smelly and no toilet paper in the ladies. Will not be visit this Burger King again

Fabulous hidden gem.
We had a full breakfast, vegetarian breakfast and filter coffee. Absolutely fabulous value for money. The ingredients were of high quality and cooked really well. The included filter coffee was particularly good.
Wonderful Little place to visit. Maybe have a walk along the canal while there. Turn off the main road and down the single road past the Cross keys. Watch out for horses, dogs, cats and humans on the way down to the large carpark.

Kilnsey Park, located in Grassington, offers a variety of family-friendly outdoor activities such as fishing, pony rides, and nature trails. The park is surrounded by lush green countryside and fishing lakes with picturesque views of Great Whernside. It also serves as a beautiful venue for outdoor weddings within its 1,000 acres of privately-owned countryside.
We just popped in after being climbing in the area for a take away hot chocolate and slice of cake. The Walnut and coffee cake was delicious and we sat outside enjoying it while soaking up the views. The location is gorgeous

Set beneath the magnificent Kilnsey Crag with wall to wall stunning views. It is a trout lovers delight. Nice café under new management. The little nature walk with animals seemed a bit tired and neglected but Winter is approaching so hopefully will be better in Spring.

Great place to try fishing 🎣 for the first time or to fly fish if you know what your doing. Staff are friendly and helpfull, will gut your catch for you and fillet if you ask them.
Set in stunning countryside, parking is easy but limited (dont park on the Roadside nearby either) and there's a cafe/tea room on site.
Amazing day out for the entire family loads of places to visit and stay locally although we drove up for the afternoon and still pulled out enough fish for dinner staff are so friendly helpful and informative bonus to find out the site is host to an orchid species previously thought extinct and now is the only place on the planet it exists

Brilliant place for a good dry fly session. It's very weedy so the indicator isn't the best tactic for this water. It's the clearest water I've ever been to and the fish are in great condition. Tasty too. The Welsh employee has to be my favourite of all trout fishery employees. Very helpful and gutts a fish in super speedy time. He was run off his feet all day. What a guy. Five stars for him. 4 stars for the fishery. Only way it could be improved was to get rid of a load of weed.

The menus provide an interesting mix of dishes that combine different cultural cuisine, and good variety.
The food was delicious, with some lovely flavours. Portion sizes were reasonable and I'd say good value.
Service was generally good. Certainly friendly and welcoming, but the table hadn't been cleaned and nobody noticed we didn't have any cutlery (provided in a can).
Certainly worth a revisit next time we're in the area.

Our family’s first time visit Skipton. Before heading to Hesket Farm, we decided to stop for a meal, and the charming vintage sign for Two Sisters immediately caught our eye. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and engaging, making us feel as though we had known them for years. I stopped at Two Sisters for lunch. There’s lots of seating available and the place has a lovely vibe. All the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the halloumi toastie. It arrived quickly and was just as described. Delicious! I’d definitely come back if I visit Skipton again.

Nestled in North Yorkshire, Parcevall Hall Gardens spans 24 acres of formal and woodland gardens, showcasing a diverse range of plant specimens from around the world. Visitors can explore terraces, mossy woodlands, and enjoy countryside vistas during spring and summer.
Really worth the drive to find this gem of a garden in some fantastically beautiful countryside. There's a lovely tearoom and a few plants for sale. The planting is so good, with like colours or like varieties in garden rooms. In October we didn't have the pleasure of the camellia walk or the colours associated with rhododendrons and azaleas but even so, there was so much to see. Half a day including lunch or tea and the 1.5 mile walk around the whole garden is about right. Hopefully we'll return in spring or summer when there'll be different colourful attractions. Yes, definitely worth a visit.

A tranquil walk through the lovely grounds, plenty of seating to sit and take in the view. We didn't visit the cafe but enjoyed two hours meandering through the gardens and taking in the tranquil birdsong.
We think the price of £10 per person is fair for the gorgeous variety of plants on show and the high standard of maintenance. The planting schemes are well thought out and show the skill of whoever looks after it.
For plant smitten people like us, you’ll notice quite unusual varieties you may not have seen elsewhere, let alone Yorkshire.
Had a beautiful day exploring the gardens. There’s so much to see with plenty of interest everywhere you turn! The backdrop of Nidderdale was breathtaking! The grounds are well maintained and very tidy. Plenty of seats to stop and enjoy the view/plants in front of you. We loved the elevations of the garden! It’s dog friendly and there’s a tea room by the entrance.
A peaceful place to spend a couple of hours, wandering the lovely gardens and grounds. Small cafe near the entrance, visitor parking (steep walk up to formal gardens), toilets near the hall. Rock garden with water feature, orchard, rose garden with summer house, terraces with borders, and formal and informal gardens. Long distance views to Simon's Seat. It's also possible to leave the site and walk along Troller's Gill which runs alongside. Admission fee applies, join the friends of and have free admission throughout the opening year.
Interesting gardens right up against the moors. The main house (not open to the public) is a residential religious retreat and is impressive. The gardens are definitely worth a look, given how high up the location is, it's amazing such a garden flourishes. Cafe near the entrance with lots of outdoor seating areas. Close to some good walks.

Great place for a drink after exploring the town, woods & canal area. Lovely friendly attentive staff who even sorted our Uber taxi for us. Plenty of seating outside to enjoy a few drinks while people watching. Definitely worth a visit to this old quirky Inn situated in the middle of Skipton.
What an absolutely brilliant find. On holiday with the hubby and wild child and after a long day of exploring the gorgeous countryside around Skipton we craved good beer and good food and boy did The Castle Inn deliver. Fantastic specials board, fab food, really nice beer selection and our chip tester is approving as well
Decent selection of beers and a great sun-trap out back with plenty of outdoor seating. There are a few pool tables and a big screen for the sport, so it’s got a good buzz to it. It was a bit loud and lively when we dropped in as there was a big group of lads around the pool table, but it was still a good atmosphere overall. We just stayed for one drink and shared a couple of portions of fries, which hit the spot.
Lovely and atmospheric pub. Has a huge menu filled with delicious food, we really enjoyed our dinner here. High quality homemade food that is well prepared, we absolutely loved it.

We had the most beautiful wedding day at the priests house. Conor and his team did a superb job and everything went perfectly. Debbie’s flowers were beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were excellent. We couldn’t have asked for better. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views and a lovely atmosphere. The whole process of booking and organising was completely stress free thanks to Conor! He is so helpful and made everything run smoothly from planning to the actual wedding day. On the day Conor was around to ensure everything went perfectly from pinning on buttonholes to helping with timings walking down the aisle. He explained exactly what was going to happen at each stage of the wedding to make sure everyone involved was calm and knew exactly what to do.
The flowers from Debbie (recommended by the Priests house) were gorgeous and exactly what I wanted! I just sent over a few inspiration photos and she brought the vision to life effortlessly. There is a wide range of beautiful decor items included when booking the venue and they all looked stunning and saved so much stress as we didn’t need to source anything ourselves. Everything from confetti baskets and cake stands to lanterns for the aisle were available to use.
The food was absolutely amazing, and chef Mark was very accommodating with our requests. Highly recommend getting the canapés and ice cream cart!!
Everything came together perfectly and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you to everyone at The Priests House for making our day so amazing!

As a wedding photographer I absolutely love this venue! Conor and the team are amazing and so organised on the day. I've shot here several times and each and every time has been such a joy. There are so many great spots for portraits too with the gorgeous views of Yorkshire, and the ceremony space just speaks for itself with the amazing windows. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone! 🙌

Went to see the new Bridget Jones film here, what a treat this cinema is. No repetition of the same big warehouse cinemas up and down the country but a unique experience. Loved it from the box office issuing paper tickets, well priced refreshments, interesting old film and historical film information, comfy seats and lovely atmosphere in the cinema. Great night out.

This was a superb venue to watch The Railway Children Return at, where you can walk in to purchases tickets at just £7.50 an adult from the box office! The office has a grand design like the building does throughout, including the chandeliers and staircases, accompanied by comfortable seats. Lights add an enticing feel to the movie screen, which is large and easy to see!
Old nostalgic, Paul is a great manager and really brings a great vibe to this cherished cinema...however could use a little tlc from ownership...but still love going here for the old school vibes
A really quaint picture house with tea, coffee snacks and helpful friendly staff, It's certainly a step back in time but worth a visit.

It's nice to go back to cinemas as they used to be and this is a gem. Really pleasant staff and a great ambience. Sure, it's only got one screen but if it has the film you want then that's fine. If you'd prefer surround sound and a large screen then this probably isn't for you.

Great place to visit if you like antiques and collectibles, lots of things to look at and lots of cabinets, also in just a few minutes walk your right in the center of Skipton so you can make a day of it, I can definitely recommend a visit.

It's a great place to have a wander around and. poke through some interesting stuff. It's only down side is no public loo, but there is a car park next door for ease.

Great Yorkshire Welcome - NO cards payment, NO toilet, NO parking. But the shop has heaps to look at. I bought this great oil painting of Stockbridge, Keighley, from 1948. £28. NO bartering, of course.
Without lying, this is my favourite shop ever. The staff is incredibly nice and the products are delightful. It is not overpriced, compared to other places. And eveything is simply beautiful. I would recommend going there without any hesitation :)

Popped in for a treat and decided it would be rude not to have a try of all the cakes .... so sharing platter it is.
Also got the candy floss milkshake which was delicious. We needed a box to take home what we couldn't finish. Well worth it. We had loads and I was amazed when it came to less than £40. Kids meal deal was a winner too. Perfect pick up on a drizzly day. This place is like a little Ray of sunshine. Will visit again when in area.

Visited for a quick lunch on a shopping visit and was impressed by the vibrant, slightly quirky interior of the place. Plenty to choose from on the menu and prices seemed reasonable. Some of the choices were fairly basic, but sometimes I find that's all I want anyway. And even the beans on toast were placed on the plate with care.
Special mention for the soup of the day. Wensleydale and Cauliflower. Just had to try it and it was delicious.
We used to love this place. So we took our niece and her baby.
The staff were rude from the outset. Partner and niece went to the counter to order and were rudely told that someone will come to the table to order. They both said they felt like they’d been told off for going up to the counter!! We waited for a long time for someone to come take our order but it was busy so this was understandable to a degree.
Food was average. Drinks were nice. Not sure I’d be bothered about going back.
We found this lovely cafe by chance. I'm so glad we did. Paninis with crisps and a bit of salad were excellent but the cakes, oh my. The brownie was amazing and the cherry bakewell cake was one of the best cakes I have ever had. So good I got another slice to take home!

We've been here once before. Quirky interior, prices reasonable, staff welcoming, efficient and helpful. The menu is different, but in a good way. My wife had cheese and onion panini which comes with salad, declared very tasty, and I had cheese and pickle sandwich which came as a "cake'ole club" which means there's an extra slice and a layer of salad. All exellent, if a bit filling. No objections there! Overall, a treat for lunch. The selection of cakes looked both comprehensive and enormous but we'd no room left. An ideal place to go if it's raining (this is Yorkshire after all) as it's all under cover.
Overall a disappointing experience. I found the 'older' members of staff here very rude. They want you to wait for a seat but whilst we were there multiple people had not seen the sign telling you to wait to be seated. Clearly if multiple people are doing it then it's a problem with the sign placement not the people who hadn't seen it! (Can I suggest a sign on a stand rather than in the window?).
Whilst I was here the man behind the counter also rudley told a woman that she couldn't place her pram at the end of a table because it would block a route in and out of the cafe, HOWEVER it was the tone in which he said this which was an issue, it's not hard to be polite to people especially when they are paying your wages. I don't think I will be back however I do hope that this feedback is taken on board for anyone else who dare to visit this establishment in future.
The cake I had was very dry and disappointing but the coffee was ok.
And thankyou to the two young ladies who were serving people in a slightly more friendly fashion. :)

Came here my Aunt booked us a painting session which was amazing and we had lunch first before that my aunt got gluten free tuna melt with an oat milk mocha and she loved it and my mother got Tuna mayo jacket potato and a cup of tea which she loved and my brother (who's autistic) had a bacon and sausage butty with a chocolate milkshake and he loved it and I also had a bacon and sausage butty but with a cup of tea with soy milk and I loved mine was such a fun day and will be coming again. I visited here for the 1st time yesterday for a baby shower. It was amazing. So much choice of things to paint, a really relaxed and cosy environment. The food was lovely and seemed homemade or locally sourced and the location is great too. Will definitely be coming back.
Lovely cafe at the top of the high Street. Has two tables for seating outside. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and the carrot cake was to die for! You need to get in early though as the scones sell out fast!

Arriving at this place towards the end of the day, and in need of a special-diet meal, I received a warm welcome and my request was met happily. They were willing to adapt a menu item without any hesitation. The food was quickly served and was extremely well presented and very tasty.
The cafe is a quirky mix of actual cafe and clay/pottery work (for example painting pots aimed at children) but the mix seems to work.
In line with current situations, the establishment was Covid19 secure.

Sadly some of the artwork was being renovated but there were still amazing things to discover. Opportunity for children and dog walkers to explore.

Wow what a wonderful dog friendly woodland situated in the lovely market town of Skipton. Various paths leading through the woods following the old canal & river. Every turn you come across something different of interest. Various seats to rest your feet, some footpaths could become muddy after rain, but that's part of the fun. We'll worth a visit especially with children as lots to explore.
Beautiful spot with some simply amazing view. Round Dam particular special as i proposed to my now fiancee here last summer. Lots of beautiful scenery and great laid out paths for you to walk on. Easily labelled so you cant get lost haha

Its got worse over the years with dogs being let loose off the leads and dog mess not being cleared up. Apart from this its a stunning wood to visit.
There are many beautiful trees through these woods that provide shelter from rain, accompanied by a glorious pond! I really enjoyed spending time in this lovely area with my friends, walking a healthy distance. One addition that really caught my eye was the woven bow and arrow lady, also the exit is nice, leading out to hills and onlooking the woods.

Visitors can enjoy the picturesque surroundings of river valleys, canals, and tranquil woodland scenes while immersing themselves in this unspoiled nature reserve.
A lovely spot for a woodland dog walk which takes in some of the town. We visited with friends and enjoyed a nice wander. Walking boots needed for some areas, with a good range of routes for all abilities.

A lovely place for a walk. There are a few different routes inside the woods so you can choose which way to walk. There are a few small waterfalls in the woods, plenty of water, and a few sculptures. Depending on when you visit, there are tadpoles, kingfishers, a heron, and many other woodland creatures. There's also wild garlic some months and bluebells galore in others. It's not a massive woodland, but still a decent size, and it links well to Skipton Castle, Skipton Wood, and the Leeds Liverpool Canal.
Visited on Wednesday 02nd October 2024. Post Castle, Canal Trip & Market I went for a walk around Skipton Castle Woods, which was beautiful. The walk is well-signposted and accessed past the castle car park. Once on the path, it's pretty obvious how to circumnavigate but you can cut across the gorge to shorten the route halfway round. The second part of the path (assuming you travel anti-clockwise) is much more attractive with some wicker sculptures and a much more defined path that runs lower to the creek/river that runs through the woods and where you eventually come out adjacent to the castle. It was one of the most beautiful paths I've walked on.
Great place to escape for some peace and tranquility yet so close to the Castle and the town. We parked at The Bailey Car park which offers good price parking for the day (car park is locked at 6pm). The entrance to the woods is less than a minute from the car park. Once you are in the woods there is an information board which shows you the different routes you can take. You can have a quick walk through and exit near the town in around 30 minutes or you can take a leisurely stroll and spend a couple of hours walking around. Look out for the wicker sculptures, there is the archer, a deer and a horse. If you exit the woods towards the town centre you get a great view of Skipton Castle from the walkway.

If you’re looking to do some mindfulness, have a calm relaxing walk or listen to the song of the river or just be by yourself and clear your mind, Skipton woods is the perfect place to be. The forest trails are pretty explanatory in itself with decent sign boards all over, you could be adventurous and take different paths. There’s plenty of walkers here out with dogs or family, it’s a very calm and pensive forest. I was alone trekking through but did not feel even one bit scared, in fact the jungle has a very meditative effect on you, I personally loved being here, also, even though it was pouring ☔️ outside, inside the woods, the leaves covered it all, effortlessly, no tickets are needed to walk through woods, definitely recommend!!

Went in for some lunch while having a wonder around the town. Does what it says on the tin type of venue. Great for me as always dogs. Service perfectly fine and waiting staff polite. Went in for lunch today, ordered a fish goujon sandwich, came as a few piddly bits of oily fish, blathered in tartar. The food was nearing inedible. I wish I could say the service made up for it, but I wasn’t even brought cutlery, waited nearly a quarter of an hour for a menu. And the two young ladies behind the bar, shouting swear words in front of my two year old son because her colleague wouldn’t get in a tik tok. The menu was diabolical, about five options, none of which are kid friendly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.
The pub from the outside doesn't seem like the food would be as good as it was. Just your typical looking pub, nothing bad. But we ordered and the food went beyond our expectations. We just wanted something quick, cheap and easy as we were both hungry and thought this would do the job. The burgers were both so tender and full of flavour, the chips were perfectly done. The portion sizes were perfect and we left full and satisfied. The prices are excellent as they have a deal on weekdays on the light bites and burgers that you get a free drink. Theres a small selection and you can upgrade for a small fee if what you want isn't included. Our bill was just over 22 pounds for both meals and two strongbow darkfruits. We enjoyed our visit and would definetly eat here again.
Super friendly staff and yummy food! We popped in with our 18m old baby for lunch on Friday, the girl who served us was fantastic, she was serving another customer yet acknowledged us the second we rocked up to the bar and she took our order and brought our food taking time to fuss over the baby which is always appreciated when toting a baby. To be fair all the staff were great and there's a good vibe as you walk through the pub. Food is yummy, we had lunchtime deal wraps with chips, the baby had fish fingers n mash. I love that the condiments come in full size bottles in a little wooden carrier and not those fiddly sachets. Nice pint of Cruzcampo too. We will be back next time we're coming back from the dales!

Just moved into town. I was told this place is the best pizza/burger in town. Well I have to tell you its true!!! I had the specail burger. I cant believe how specail it truly is. So let's be clear. It's not the best pizza in the world. But it's better than pizza express or standard takeaway shop. You can see the guys make it while you wait. But when you consider the price I would say it's outstanding value. Paid £5 for a fairly decent sized pizza. The people working in there are also really REALLY nice and friendly and care about their customers. I will definitely be returning to try other things on the menu.

This place has become a regular treat night for myself and my partner. There are plenty of vegan options and the staff are really nice.
They were super busy tonight with takeaway orders and a full house. A 12 top showed up tonight without a booking at 8.30 and they were immediately accommodated. This place goes above and beyond.

Fantastic food and service, we really enjoyed it, we will be back when we are next in Skipton. The staff are amazing. They even made us a Phal to take away with us, even though it wasn't on the menu. 😀
Had a wonderful experience at this Restaurant. Aly catered for our every needs. He took the time to explain the spices and the different dishes on offer. All the food was of excellent quality and the next time I am in Skipton this will be the first place I visit. A+ service and a very friendly staff. Credit to Aly and his team for making our visit special.
Tried to order takeaway online but one dish advertised as £10.95 ended up as £21 in the basket! Couldn’t change it. Also apparently open, but website said we could place order when next open! Very confusing and didn’t want to risk paying for something we might not get!
Really, really tasty food! We all enjoyed it and the driver was super friendly. They also were the only place that would deliver to our campsite and kindly provided us with some cutlery upon request. Would strongly recommend, although the chips were definitely not the greatest so maybe avoid those.
Like to say a big thank for the delivery service to Long ashes Park in Threshfield as you don't normally come out so far. But think you should extend your service 🤞curry's where delicious would definitely order again

Absolutely cracking pub/hotel. Stayed one night in the king room, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Brilliant pub, lovely local beers. Wonderful food, good value and superb breakfast. Short walk to the train station and town centre/ canal marina. Will definitely stay again.

Had a great overnight stay here while on a golfing weekend away with our golf society. The single room was very good for a one night stay and the location was superb for the local nightlife. The full English breakfast with poached eggs and a pot of tea was superb and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend
Visited The Railway for a meal last night and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The service was amazing from start to finish – friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome.
I ordered the pie, which was incredible – full of tender meat and packed with flavour. Highly recommend it if you're visiting!
The pub has a warm, cosy, and relaxing atmosphere, making it a great place to unwind. The location is brilliant too, right in the heart of Skipton.

A large group of us had a meal in Friday night and we all agreed it was lovely. We pre-ordered which was great as the food came quickly and altogether. The staff were all really friendly. Excellent value for money
We really enjoyed our stay at the Railway. Our room was clean and comfortable. The lunch we had was exceptional for a pub, and the breakfast was really good. The service was friendly and the well kept cask Tetley’s brought back memoir my youth on Merseyside. And at £4.20 a pint, was a bit of a dream to a Londoner. We will be back!

Phoned up to see if they had a table free, for a Sunday Roast. They were very busy, but still found a table for us. The service and food were wonderful.

Went for Sunday lunch following recommendation. Excellent quality home cooked food and very reasonable prices. Staff polite and friendly. Will definitely return soon.
