National Trust Shugborough Estate

The National Trust Shugborough Estate, located near Stafford, offers a diverse experience for visitors. With 900 acres of parkland and a historic mansion filled with treasures, it provides an escape into nature and history. The estate features a working Victorian farm, Georgian farm, dairy & mill, and restored walled garden. Costumed living history characters bring the past to life as they share stories from different eras.
This place is absolutely massive! There are so many different areas to explore. After parking, we started our adventure at the Walled Garden. At the time, half the garden was under renovation, but what was left looked absolutely stunning. Next, we headed to Park Farm, which is mainly a refreshment area and toilets. But there are a few interesting things to see here, like the “Tower of the Winds.” It’s a must-see! After that, we walked over to the “Mansion.” First, we went to the servant’s quarters, and then we went inside, which was like stepping back in time. After we then went into the Mansion, being greeted by a very friendly gentleman. I loved the upper levels of the mansion. They had so much history about the Anson family, especially Patrick Anson’s work in photography. It was fascinating! Finally, we relaxed in the lawns near the river before heading back to the car, passing by the boathouse on the way. It was a wonderful day out!

Had a fantastic day here. Two cafes with great food, ice creams and drinks. Toilets were clean. The house was quiet and easy to walk through everyone was helpful and informative. The grounds were stunning and lots to see. Great accessibility. Lots for kids to do, the house had kid friendly activities but also lots of parks and outside spaces for children. Promoting inclusivity and that seems to been something they are working hard to promote which is fantastic to see. Great walks for people and dog friendly also, even some doggy ice creams.

I must first say that this is one of the best National Trust properties we have visited and we have been members from over 20 years. The grounds and gardens are beautiful, with many interesting cows and sheep to look at. The farmyard was lovely and the café was outstanding. The service was brilliant and the food was so tasty. The Mansion was excellent and it was amazing looking at Lord Patrick Litchfield's apartments. The cafe near the mansion was also very good. All in all my wife and myself had a lovely day.
Paul B — Google review
This is a jewel amongst the National Trust's historic houses. It's surrounded by a huge area of parkland and has a working farm to explore as well as the house and servants' quarters. We visited on a warm day when they had extra activities and games available for the kids to play which was appreciated. There is more than enough to fill a day here if you choose to do a walk around the estate too. The car park is quite a walk from the main house, however there is a small shuttle which you can use if needed.
Tim J — Google review
We visited recently, May bank holiday, only to find the estate was closed due to bad weather. Unfortunately, there was no notice on their website about the closure, which was disappointing—not just for us, but for many others who had turned up as well. That said, we were still able to enjoy a lovely walk through the park. Despite some overcast spells, the weather held up nicely, and the grounds were beautiful. The park is expansive, with scenic canal crossings and plenty of space to explore. Just a heads-up to check ahead before visiting
Kamal S — Google review
Revisited after probably about 20 years and have to admit I was a little disappointed and underwhelmed this time around. Very little to see inside the mansion these days and the whole place seems to be geared up to entertain kids. The farm with mill wheel used to have so much more going on and better access. Sad because we had some great memories of visiting here in the past. The highlight was leaving and heading out over Essex bridge to the Anglo Welsh boatyard at Great Haywood.
Paul — Google review
This is a lovely place to visit with 2 cafes. The visitor shop was lovely and the grounds well kept. I visited on foot whilst out exploring

Shugborough Hall, located in Milford near Stafford, is a historic working estate under the care of the National Trust. The property offers plenty to do, including a 15-minute walk from the car park to the main house. Visitors can explore the well-maintained gardens, children's play area, and farm area before reaching the picturesque mansion. Additionally, there are opportunities for scenic walks through the extensive grounds that extend down to Essex Bridge and along the canal to Great Haywood cliffs.
A wonderful afternoon out at Shugborough Hall, so much to see and do. As it’s the summer holidays they had more fun and games for children too! Plenty of parking and the usual National Trust facilities including a cafe. The house is interesting to look round, with the downstairs telling the story of George and Thomas Anson, while the upstairs houses the preserved apartment of the Patrick Lichfield the famous royal photographer. The gardens and grounds are big enough to keep you busy for a few hours and the flower gardens at amazing.

Shugborough Hall is a place well worth a visit. It is a National Trust site located in a large estate in rural Staffordshire. There is plenty to see and do for Adults and children alike. On a nice day there are some very pleasant walks that you can do, as well as visit the house. There is a gift shop, toilets and tea room/restaurant close by. The Hall and all of its history is quite fascinating. As I like my photography I loved seeing some of Lord Lichfield's cameras and equipment, as well as the many photographs mounted on the walls. Some are of famous faces that you will recognise, and some of the Royal Family over various years. There are also events put on throughout the year. I have visited twice in December to see the spectacular display of Christmas Trees. They differ every year, and sometimes follow a theme. They also put on a light show display in December. I haven't seen this yet, but do plan on it this year. I have heard it is very impressive.

Wonderful national trust free entry day. Blessed with fine sunshine. Greeted by 2 very helpful members who explained the map. Added onto planned guided visit to new garden at 2pm. This proved really good with the gardener being very interesting. Volunteers in house brilliant, informative and friendly despite impromptu fire alarm, they were unflappable. Beautiful grounds, gardens and all with our rescue dog Maddie. (She stayed in the car whilst we went inside house). Just had such a lovely relaxing day. Thank you 😊

Lovely day out at Shugborough - the staff are 10/10 and gave brilliant service. The gentleman and lady upstairs in Patrick Lichfield’s apartments on Saturday were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable and great help. The girl working the ice cream counter near the mansion tea room (but not inside the tea room) was amazing, really helped us with our intolerance while ordering an ice cream, super friendly to all customers in front of us and gave exceptional service to us with our celiac dietary needs. It’s a shame a lot of Shugborough has shut since the national trust took ownership, but still has lovely grounds on a sunny day.
Georgie — Google review
Shugborough is simply beautiful whether you're visiting the house or just walking the grounds. Me and my fiance visit often as we just love walking our dog through the grounds and picking up a coffee at the tea room. Very friendly staff upon entry, plenty of info boards explaining future plans, the house is gorgeous inside and out with lots to see. Staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable with the history of the the house. It's just a fab place to visit.

First visit today and what a fantastic place! We decided to join as family members and it was well worth it. The grounds, gardens and mansion are all beautifully kept — full of history and charm. The tea rooms were excellent too, perfect stop for an autumn treat. Even during October half term it never felt crowded; plenty of parking and so much space to explore that you’d hardly notice how busy it actually was. A brilliant family day out — we’ll definitely be back! – O’Toole UK | Keeping it real, one visit at a time.

Had a wonderful day, strolling around the gardens and small walk plus a joy to hear so much history from the volunteers in the hall. The cafe was reasonably priced with good food and coffee.

Nature & Parks
Victoria Park is a lovely park located in Stafford that features a river, gardens, bird aviary, and play area. The park is also home to a cafe and several bridges.
The park is truly magnificent, with a river flowing through its center, where swans glide gracefully and ducks swim peacefully. The sunlight reflecting on the water creates a beautiful scene, while the walking paths and benches along the riverbank invite you to pause and take it all in. Surrounded by lush greenery, trees, and colorful flowers, the garden’s design is thoughtfully crafted for comfort. It’s the perfect place to breathe fresh air, unwind, and enjoy a peaceful walk.
Hatice G — Google review
I have never travelled to Stafford by train before, but as you leave the station you have Victoria Park right infront of you. What a gorgeous gem. The landscaping is stunning, with beautiful beds of flowers with vibrant colours. There is a band stand, a river with ducks and swans, thatched buildings, lovely bridges and a bowling green. It was a sunny day and the club were out bowling, such a great sight to watch. Next to the green were two aviaries with doves, golden pheasant, budgies, etc. Such a lovely atmosphere and buzz about the park. There was also a cafe, which appeared very popular. So lovely to see a well manicured park, with the grass cut to protection. Such a treat to walk through.

It's really stunning scenery, so clean, vast, and green. A great place to stretch your legs after a long train journey or enjoy the weather on a summers day.

Truly impressed by this park! It’s rare to come across such a beautifully maintained space. The moment I stepped out of the train station, I was greeted by a vibrant, colorful flower lawn - it made me fall in love with Stafford right away. The park is incredibly clean, and the flowers and grass are so well cared for. I was genuinely amazed by the whole scene. There’s also a café inside the park, and even some charming bird aviaries filled with tiny, adorable birds. I didn’t expect to visit such a lovely park - it was a delightful surprise and left a lasting impression!

Nestled in the heart of Stafford, The Post House Bar & Grill is a chic dining destination housed within a beautifully restored 18th-century post house. This venue seamlessly blends historical charm with modern elegance, featuring plush interiors and an inviting terrace. Whether you're in the mood for a delightful dinner paired with fine wine or simply wish to unwind over cocktails, this spot has you covered.
We came for lunch today as a belated birthday meal. Everything was brilliant. Ryan the manager had dealt with a previous concern that I’d raised and in dealing with this was both professional and attentive. I really can’t fault this response. Today’s food was great. Service great. Atmosphere great. I recommend The Post House for a regular lunch treat out or a special occasion. We will be joining you again soon!

We've eaten here multiple times over the last few years. Every time has had amazing food with attentive staff. The whole place, no matter what area you end up seated in, is beautifully decorated. We've also taken our dog multiple times now and the staff have been very accommodating for us.

Enjoyed my time at the Post House Bar and Grill. Went for Sunday lunch and it was very very nice. A bit more a fancy Sunday lunch for sure but it was certainly just as tasty. Portion sizes are big and very filling may cost a bit more but you for sure get your moneys worth. The place is very nicely decorated and the staff seemed friendly and the food came very quick albeit could have been a little warmer. The cocktail selection was also good and they were very nice.

The staff and venue are fantastic and as for the food, wow. Well presented, plentiful and flavoursome. It was our wedding anniversary and the little touch was nice from the staff.

Great atmosphere, was here for a baby shower, amazing decor, great selection of drinks Havana rum being a plus, some funky different cocktails there too. Didn't have main food but had a spread of sandwiches and beef and horseradish was amazing. Highly Recommended

One of our favourite places to eat! Been a couple of times now and always love it! The food is incredible, good service and lovely cocktails! The menu changes fairly often here so there's always something new to choose which is nice. The food is delicious and very well presented and the staff are very knowledgeable & helpful when it comes to the menu. There isn't any on-site parking here, but there are a few pay and display car parks nearby within walking distance.

We had a private dinner in the Champagne Room. It was perfect. The food was excellent. However what made the evening was the fantastic service, nothing was too much trouble and we were so well looked after. Thank you for making the night a great success

Nestled in Stafford, La Casa Italian is a delightful hidden gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant boasts a clean and modern decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. The staff are not only friendly but also incredibly efficient, adding to the overall enjoyment of your meal. The highlight here is undoubtedly the food; each dish is freshly prepared in an open kitchen, showcasing authentic Italian flavors that will tantalize your taste buds.
Didn’t plan on coming in ended up going for a Friday night meal. So nice and relaxed, great service & great food/ portion size. Had a lovely carbonara with a glass of wine & my partner had a fab lasagna with a pint of peroni. Would definetly recommend!

Great authentic Italian restaurant with exelent selection of dishes. Service is also very professional and friendly. The place is also well maintained, modern and clean. The food was delicious from the starter to the final coffee. The dishes are large and prices are fair. Surely will come back and recommend.

THE FOOD Oh, they're good. I had to go tell the chef afterwards as the steak was SO good (it's an open kitchen) and he talked to me about the preparation and how he cooked it. The wife had tagliatelle which never fails to please and every bite you can taste and feel the difference in quality from the regular stuff you get served at lesser eateries. They're amazing. Well worth the price, since I thought I'd treat myself. The service was good, but the laminated word-done posters and the dogmatic "pay in cash" poster made it look more greasy spoon than 5* italian, which to be clear, the food absolutely is. I imagine that'll improve over time. They didn't have any issue taking card though and I was really happy with the (somewhat rushed due to the little one being HANGRY) meal.
David M — Google review
Amazing food. A great combination of authentic ingredients to make perfect dishes. We had super nice starters, specially the Pate di fegatini di pollo, absolutely delicious. Kind staff and good atmosphere, may be the best Italian in town.

Had a lovely afternoon meal. The food was worth the wait. It was a little dark, but I think this would be lovely in the evening. The steak was delicious as was the carbonara. Would happily dine here again.
Holly M — Google review
Disgusting for the price. Linguini al salmon was an overload of pasta and the salmon was barely visible to the eye, pieces so tiny. Flavour was monotone and not enjoyable, tasted like a mild barbecue sauce. Funghi con spinaci was a gluey sauce loaded with spinach and barely any mushroom. Over all an overuse of the cheaper produce to fill the dish and a sparse use of the prime products like salmon and mushroom. Patatine - home made chunky chips, completely undercooked soggy fries, certainly not homemade chunky chips. Over all not as described. Highly disappointed. Will not be ordering from here again. 09/04/25 Having seen the reply from La Casa I am even more disappointed that they are trying to make out this is my mistake .. they were the chips we received from La Casa that evening, and the food review applies to the food from their restaurant!! Their reply is an attempt to make people think it was a different restaurant, and that I’ve confused the restaurant.. I have not! .. they were the chips sent sealed in a film fronted paper bag with the meal sealed in the delivery bag from La Casa. SHAME ON YOU LA CASA!!!
Diane B — Google review
Lovely little Italian eatery. I had the (spicy) meatballs to start, then veal in a lemon sauce with some fried zucchini on the side. The accompanying roasted seasonal vegetables were also perfect. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, a rare skill these days. All in all, I'd choose this place again for any special evening meal I'd want to have in Stafford.

Great food, but we asked if we could take two of our curries away as they were barely touched. A sagwala and a masala, when we got home we found that they had just dumped both into the same container. So that went in the bin. Other than that, good.

Don't live local to mela lounge but will definitely be going back. The staff were very welcoming. Food was out of this world meat was lovely and tender. The food was piping hot. Was constantly asked if wanted anything else especially drink. Toilets were very clean also. The atmosphere was very pleasant was able to enjoy our meal with no rowdiness from other customers. Would definitely recommend mela lounge 💯

The place stunk like something a bit rancid when you walk in and there is this smell that lingers which may be from the old carpet, which you can tell is old and filthy. Also, it’s a rip off, 27.50 for a rice and curry with one beer and the chicken was tough. I would avoid this place, way better curry houses in Stafford. The waiters try and talk to you in an insincere way which is cringe, I just got a dirty vibe from the place and just overall really uncomfortable environment to be in.
J79 C — Google review
Great food and service, friendly staff who will prepare a dish even if it is not listed on their menu. The mixed starter was full of flavour and choice, while the tandoori mixed grill was really well cooked and again packed with flavour. The tandoori prawns were cooked to perfection and the portion size was incredible.

This restaurant is also doing 50% off all food up to the end of tomorrow as part of its extension to #eotho offer. When you arrive, you go down the stairs and the restaurant is underground as such. The interior represents the majority of Indian restaurants with appropriate music, leather seats, white layed tables and lighting to match. Staff were all dressed smartly as you would expect. Staff greeted me immediately and were wearing PPE with hand sanitiser avaliable and a sign in book as opposed to the usual NHS Test and Trace barcode. Free Wi-Fi was available. I went for the following today; Starter - Mix Platter -- Chicken Tikka, Hariyali (Green) Chicken, Kebab and Tender Lamb Chops. A lovely mix of everything here (minus the seafood of course). The green chicken is a popular north Indian choice. It came with a sweet dipping sauce. All the meat on the plate was hot and tender and presentation wise it was appealing. I found no issues with the quality of the meat and enjoyed this very much. There was no spice at all to all the items on this dish though remember I really love spice. Main - North Indian Chilli Chicken - Chicken pieces cooked in 5 spices of sauce and flavoured with garlic, cayenne pepper paste and fresh green chillies. I do love my spice and this was recommended by the staff member. This was the perfect sauce. Hot enough for me to taste it but not enough to not enjoy it. A fair amount of meat is in the curry and you can taste the garlic in this one. A very smooth flavour to it that tastes great. A tandoori roti accompanies the above. This was nice and fluffy. This came to £12.90 after #eotho which was excellent value in that respect and can be compared similarly to some set menus but I did have a chefs speciality as opposed to the normal options on a traditional set menu. I was able to walk in luckily but the restaurant was fully booked after 19:00 so is a popular location. There is a similar location in Birmingham but they were only offering 25% off. Recommended!

Perfect little pub. Served by Donna and Lucy, excellent service. Food was on point, atmosphere was quiet but for a Monday night was expected.

Went to the barley mow as a change from catch corner. The play area is great, I think it is overall much better condition and the kids loved it. Staff were pleasant and the food was nice. Although one of the main disappointments is they have added a time limit onto the wacky warehouse. When you have a family purchasing food and drinks along with the wacky entrance fee this is unacceptable, especially when it isnt busy.
Mike B — Google review
Standard faire except this was sirloin beef. Starting with pricing (Autumn 2025) meal ~£17 worth ~£13. Drinks are pretty much average price. Quality is what matters to everyone. Good serving size for really hungry men. This made me consider that they should be offering a pensioner portion @60% of the size and price! Food was faintly warm on arrival. Gravy was nice & thick. Draught Cola was a little flat but cold. Overall, this is a 3.5 star place but their attention for people with impairments is worth a 🌟 bonus. Acid test: would I bring a date here? Yes. Would I do an important business deal here? No. Bring the little family. Unless you're feeling flush, any more than 5 is going to melt that bank card from Dixon of money leaving the account.

A lovely experience from beginning to end. Hadn't visited the Barley Mow in a long time and received a wonderful welcome and exceptional service. Enjoyed a superb breakfast with a friend and the food was beautifully prepared and served in good time. A special mention for Donna who dealt with us throughout. Great time at the wacky ware house, both Sophie and Rebecca were very friendly and helpful. Gave excellent service and the drinks came fast considering how busy it was! Huge shoutout to the team who clearly worked very hard during this busy day, you guys did great.

The three of us went for grub after a good walk, and we were delighted as our waitresses were ready to greet us, with warm smiles and great advise about the food and drinks. Donna, Laura & Freya helped us with ordering on the app and we are made so welcome it's always a pleasure to visit. Thanks to the great chef(s) that provided our delicious food., and thank you girls for a delightful meal time. We also need to involve Kate as she served is a little. I have to be honest, I was blown away by how Freya helped us and she's only been working there less than a week....what a star.

I don't get it what is the business strategy of these businesses, even for a paper bag you need to pay. It's very disappointing. You are paying for a bag that can't be used for a second time. There is something called courtesy- people

My husband took 4 items in to the upstairs changing room The young lady who checks out how much you take in was the rudest, most unapproachable, none verbal person I have ever come across No eye contact or a smile when I ask a question When I told her I left 2 items in the back and took 2 items with me, absolutely no response, not even a grunt. Why are you employing people who have no people skills in a shop I don’t expect everyone smiling and chatting all the time, but a little smile and communication would help, Totally different at the till in the children/mens department, 2 lovely smiling helpful staff Just in case you want a word with the young lady Tuesday, 22.7 at 14:17 ( Details on till receipt )

There’s a good range of clothing and at very good prices. You pretty much know where you stand with primark, it’s cheap clothes and “ok” quality. This store however, has fallen into the same trap as its other branches and similar retailers on the high street; making it too narrow to shop because there are too many stands on the floor. It’s annoying, all too common and makes me reluctant to go there. I want to go shopping without the pain of negotiating with other customers on the ‘right of way’ through the stands. I also want to shop without little Timmy or his mum bumping into me or elbowing me numerous times.
Robert S — Google review
We popped in here for a basic item and while the building is massive and well stocked, the shop seemed fairly untidy. It seemed a little strange that no one had bothered to have a little whip round the different departments, especially as on the high street there is a brisk trade.
C J — Google review
Worse store I've been in asked for a shirt that was on a maniqun and as it was my size and all other shirts were x large and they wouldn't allow me to buy that one the manager Nathan was absolutely awful and unprofessional also I'm disabled and lift were out of order and escalators were down! Awful store.

Terrible customer service. I walked past 3 girls 3 or 4 times in the space of 5 minutes, very obviously looking for something specific but they were far too busy having a chat to bother asking if I needed help. When I went over to them to ask for help, 2 of them looked straight at me, then carried on chatting so I was forced to interrupt their conversation to ask a question. They didn't know the answer to the question and didn't seem to give enough of a stuff to bother finding out either! Also, while I was looking round, one of the aforementioned girls walked into my path, stopped dead and just looked at me with a "well move then!" look, forcing me to move out of her way, which is just plain rudeness towards a customer!

I was served by a lady named Laura. Super friendly and very helpful. Helped me get a matalan membership (which cost me nothing) and saved me money on my shop. If more shops had people like Laura, I'd start to shop online a lot less. Fantastic staff member!

I went to shop very recently in Cheltenham matalan with my teen son.Of cause he was wearing hood and i m foreigner. I dont like him wearing hood and i know about stigma. My son is very good with animals, shy, kind person...When we entered shop we heard this loud voice speaker -"shoplifters be aware there are security cameras here,bla,bla..."I am very sensative and sensable person and i found this unwelcoming approach to the customers..and it put me off of buying anything there.Never will go there...P.S.Customer has rights to receive a good welcome in shop and nor shop's problems nor shop's insecurities...

went to matalan yesterday and i started in the kids section where this girl with glasses was changing all the displays around after i was finishing in the kids section i asked her if there was a lift as i wanted to have a look at the home section but i had a pushchair with me, she replied yes but it’s out of order no offer to help me up the stairs so then i walked over to the steps and started pulling my little girl up in the puschair and then this other male worker stopped me (i think he was ginger if i remember) while i was on the steps asking if i’m going to shop or going up to do a return i then replied to shop again no offer to help me luckily this other shopper offered to help but both workers where by the steps watching me struggle. not happy at all.

Boscobel House and The Royal Oak is a historic site with a 1632 timber-framed lodge that was originally a farmhouse converted into a hunting lodge. It has significant ties to the shelter of Catholics during times of persecution. The property features interactive tours, including a priest hole where Charles II hid, and offers insights into its history by candlelight. This English Heritage property played a role in Charles II's escape from England after the Battle of Worcester, providing shelter for the future king.
I spent a most enjoyable here. Whilst it is not a very large house, there are so many interesting items to see and I learnt so much about the history of the site from the knowledgeable and friendly staff. The Royal Oak is near to the site, and also, it is possible to walk to the ruins of the White Lady Priory, which is about a mile away. It is a very pleasant walk with lovely views

A nice little place, steeped in history, and a great spot to while away a couple of hours. Children love the grounds, house and animals. Food is a little pricey so I'd take a picnic, but good that they're dog friendly.
Ian G — Google review
A good sized property in a (surprisingly) lovely area not too far outside of Wolverhampton... Easy access from the A5, it has a decent car park. Some interesting history about King Charles staying there for a couple of days, not exactly thrilling but I guess you had to be there... To be honest, they don't try to overload you with "facts" but there are quite a few information boards to read around the place. Everyone we met were friendly and enthusiastic about the attraction. Small tearoom with all the usual offerings, prices what you expect, but the coffee was nice and the scones looked fresh. Despite the weather not being the best, we had a walk down to the Priory, which took about 20 minutes, not a lot to see, but a decent walk over the fields looking over the Shropshire countryside. In all, we spent a pleasant 4 hours there.

Car parking is simple. Site is small. Cafe does not appear to have any choices for vegan on its very limited menu. Beware wasps! The imaginative candles for interactive interpretations in rooms was hit and miss. Lots of planned updates for the grounds.

Fantastic place , the children 4 , 5 , and 6 years old thoroughly enjoyed the interactive walk around of the old house. The youngest got a little scared when Cromwell's men began knocking the door, during the interactive tour. wonderfull to step back in time to such a prominent point of British history and so we'll preserved. Great adventure park too for the little one's.

Great for children as the play area has lots of variety. You can take dogs but not a very big area, you can walk around it in 20 minutes. There are toilets, but not the nicest, rather smelly, apparently the gents was terrible. Ice cream van was in the car park. Parking is free.

Great playground and park, with plenty of space for a picnic and to play with the children. We were able to find shade with the little one and get ice-cream from the ice cream truck in the car park. For us it's a bit of a drive but we usually spend there a good few hours so definitely worth it.

I recently ordered online from JoJo’s Fish and Chips for the first time, eager to try this famous and multi-award-winning shop without the wait. Although I initially missed a special offer that would have saved me money, John went above and beyond to assist me. He kindly explained how to take advantage of the offer and even refunded the price difference. It’s clear that such kindness is part of why they deserve their success. Most importantly, the food quality was excellent. Highly recommend for both their customer service and delicious food!

Jojo's fish and chip van just catered our wedding and it was absolutely amazing. They came to a very remote part of North Wales (with small roads and no phone signal!) and provided the some of the best fish and chips I have ever had (many guests after the event have told me they loved the fish and chips!). The staff were so lovely, the van is really cute with a little table and chairs provided for those waiting. I could not recommend Jojo's more. Big thank you to John and the team!

Nestled in a cozy corner, Cafe India is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its friendly waitstaff and a menu brimming with diverse options, this restaurant caters to every palate. Guests rave about the flavorful chicken tikka dishes, while sharing platters offer something for everyone—though some vegetarian items may not be as fresh as hoped. The ambiance strikes a balance between inviting and tranquil, making it perfect for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings.
Lovely waiters, delicious food. Reasonably priced too and within one bite I was in love - I had the chicken tikka Pathia and my and my father had the chicken tikka dupiaza. Atmosphere was much better than some of the other Indian restaurants I’ve been to, and it was very quite which was nice. However the lighting was a bit dark so it was hard to see the food and the music kept stopping and starting again. Other than that we had a wonderful time and it filled us up well!

There is a varied menu with lots to choose from. A group of us had a mixed meat sharer starter and a veggie sharer. The meat one was real nice but the veggie one didn't seem too fresh, more like the samosa and bhaji that you buy from supermarkets. The mains were really good though, very tasty and the portions were great.

My meal was not enjoyable...the lamb was tough and I couldn't eat it...I should have sent it back on reflection..I must say it isn't what it used to be years ago. We had to wait a while which wasn't easy with a small child.Being Mother's Day we wanted to be together naturally but it is difficult to entertain a 2 year old for two hours Disappointing.Saying this my husband's meal and and son's meal were o.k. Stafford Castle, located in Stafford, is a historic site with Norman earthworks and a visitor center that showcases its 900-year history. The castle, situated on a 26-acre site, features a motte and bailey and is surrounded by woodland and herb gardens. Nearby attractions include Doxey Marshes nature reserve and the riverside park with various amenities like a glass house, aviary, sensory garden, and play areas.

Stafford Castle, located on Newport Road in Stafford, is a striking landmark with a history that spans over 900 years. Perched on a prominent vantage point, the castle was originally established by the Normans around 1100 AD, under the direction of Robert de Toeni, later known as Robert of Stafford. Its position was strategically chosen to oversee and control the surrounding landscape, a testament to its military importance during the Norman consolidation of England. The castle began as a classic motte and bailey structure, featuring a wooden keep atop a large man-made mound and enclosed courtyards below. Over the centuries, the wooden fortifications were replaced by stone, reflecting the increasing need for stronger defenses. In the mid-14th century, Ralph de Stafford, the first Earl of Stafford, commissioned the construction of a stone keep and battlements, further enhancing the castle’s defensive capabilities and grandeur. Stafford Castle has witnessed the ebb and flow of English history. It played a significant role during the medieval period, including the Wars of the Roses, and was a focal point of local power for the Stafford family. However, by the early 17th century, the castle had fallen into decline. During the English Civil War, it was defended by Lady Isabel but eventually abandoned and partially demolished. The 19th century saw a revival of interest in the site, with the Jerningham family rebuilding the castle in the Gothic Revival style on the original foundations. Despite this, the structure once again fell into disrepair and was abandoned by the mid-20th century. Today, Stafford Castle stands as a partially restored ruin, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into its layered past. The site features informative interpretation panels and a visitor centre that help bring its history to life. Throughout the year, Stafford Castle hosts a diverse program of events, including historical re-enactments, wildlife fairs, and the renowned Stafford Festival Shakespeare productions each summer. The site is also popular for educational tours, themed workshops, and family activities, making it a vibrant destination for all ages.

Taimoor M — Google review
Great place to visit, there is a small visitor centre with an even smaller cafe that does tea coffee cakes and pastries but it's nice and cosy with seating outside, there's also toilets that are OK and clean, the castle is steep up a dirt path not ideal if you have a pushchair or wheelchair, but if you can get to the top the views alone are worth it,the castle is small being built on a hill but must have been impressive in it's day as it looks like it was at least three storey, you can see this from the stairwell but being derelict they are not there, great day out for the family to have a picnic with lots of parking available.

Am sorry to say it's been closed for sometime like the rest of the shopping center which is almost closed. Stafford town center is looking really sad because of the lack of open shop's. Enough said . Ok then if there are some stalls still open I bet the rent is really high so it money in the bank for the landlord.

Merilyn C — Google review
Has one or two places that we use so visit occasionally but sadly is looking a little empty with quite a lot of empty stalls. Also access is not as easy as Guildhall has closed most of it's access down after closing majority of its shops and entrance and exits.
Mark B — Google review
The market itself was great, I got exactly what I went for. Traveling in and out of Stafford is a total nightmare at the moment, makes you think someone's trying to close the County Town down completely!!
Susan F — Google review
Could be a great spot if only the SCC or owners would spend some money, it could be an awesome attraction. Music, food court, new stalls are desperately needed. Have a look at the Fremantle markets in Western Australia for an example.
Shaun G — Google review
Hardly any stalls open, others had the shutters closed or the pitches were just unoccupied, possibly because the Council charge too much rent. The busiest part of the indoor market was the little cafe in the corner, which appeared to be doing a brisk trade in lunches and low priced mugs of tea to warm their customers during the cold weather of January.

This vibrant venue is a hub for live entertainment, offering an eclectic mix of performances that cater to diverse tastes—from opera and ballet to drama, musicals, and comedy nights. The intimate setting for stand-up shows creates a unique atmosphere that enhances the experience. Many locals cherish fond memories here, especially during festive pantomimes with family.
Went to The Met Studio, which is a great, intimate space. The Gatehouse generally is welcoming, bright and has lovely staff. There's a comfortable cafe/bar.

Went tonight to see Hello Again ( Neil Diamond). We booked the star package as it was a special occasion and we had a fabulous time. The two Maisie’s looked after us brilliantly. Would highly recommend it. Show was excellent too. All in all a great night out.

March 5th 2025 Another remarkable performance from Karl Loxley tonight . A full house were thoroughly entertained. He has certainly done well for himself since being on the Voice. As always the staff at this venue are excellent. There is a bar area if you fancy a tipple. Street parking is available, which is good 👍

Did not have a chance to attend any play but the list looks very impressive!
Nazar — Google review
After many years hi by to the gatehouse I've decided to no longer attend this once great venue, why you may ask. Il enlighten you the Gatehouse for generations was a place where plays and shows of all kind ls had taken place. A place that different opinions could be freely expressed. But recently I was informed that Katie Hopkins show was cancelled. This is nothing more than a crime of freedom of speech. Shakespeare's history plays often reflect the political and social concerns of his time, many found him offensive should we ban these plays next .. no . Il take my monies else where in future

Doxey Marshes is a serene and picturesque wetland area that offers an ideal setting for strolling, birdwatching, and dog walking. This region is situated on Stafford's flood plain and is characterized by its flat terrain. It can be prone to flooding after heavy rainfall, but it remains a great spot for nature lovers nonetheless. Visitors should be cautious of free-roaming cattle in the area while dog walking.
A great location. Free roaming cows. Two bird hides, one of which requires a code from emailing Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, the other, green metal hexagon, is out in the open overlooking a reed bed. Wide variety of #waterfowl, kestrels, foxes and all sorts can be seen here
Jay V — Google review
This a great place of conservation providing a wonderful sanctuary to many Bird species and so close to the M6. Only downside today, bwing bird photographers, was that the only roofed bird hide was closed due to apparent vandalism.
David L — Google review
Beautiful, the songs of the birds and nature very relaxing. Easy circuit, accessible and flat most of the way. Not busy at all. Lots of free parking.
Dee B — Google review
Great for birding, bike rides, leisurely walks. I will say there's more litter nowadays, but that's just a given with time unfortunately. No matter, nothing us civilians can't fix with a litter picker and refuse bag!
Charlie — Google review
Lovely urban wetland nature reserve in Stafford. There ia a small amount of free parking and note there are no facilities here apart from a few hides. But the range of wildlife you can see is impressive. When we visited it was a guide tour will a super knowledgeable local expert. So this really gave us an insight it to the potential species we could see here. Well worth a visit you can see the main railway line and the M6 but it still has a countryside feel.
Ian H — Google review
Very tranquil spot (although the motorway thunders along nearby!) With the river meandering through and a couple of lakes.Good for gentle dog walking, mostly on lead. Popular with bird watchers. Often flooded.
Naomi C — Google review
Located in Stafford, is this nature reserve, you’ll simply find lots of wildlife, bird watching, fishing and dog walkers here, close to the M6 motorway, parking can be an issue now they have built more houses at the Creswell entrance but parking on the estate will be fine. Be sure to where suitable footwear as can sometimes be very muddy and wet.

Amazing place to go for dog walkers or just a peaceful walk. It's also great for kids as it has a separate park and field so you can walk your dog at the same time whilst being enclosed and keeping an eye on your children.

Nestled in the charming town of Eccleshall, Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre is a delightful sanctuary dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of over 30 species of exotic animals and birds of prey. This registered charity operates primarily on donations, making every visit impactful for the well-being of its residents. Here, you can encounter an array of fascinating creatures including primates, reptiles, raccoons, pot-bellied pigs, and even a singing dog from New Guinea!
For £5 an adult a great afternoon out. What makes this place special is every enclosure has details of how the animal came to stay with them with the majority of them being rescues. If taking the kids, there's a play area next to the wildlife centre with a ride on miniature train too. The garden centre it's attached to is good too where you can get a drink and bite to eat.

Highly recommend a visit here if you love wildlife and/or have children. Absolute bargain at only £5 per adult to enter! Spent over 3hrs here on a sunny bank holiday weekend. Very impressed at the enclosures and the way the animals are obviously cared for extremely well by the volunteers. The bird flying demonstration was great, informative and entertaining (although commentary was a little difficult to hear at times due to crackly microphones) with one owl walking around the benches where we sitting! Will definitely visit again in future 😃

Nestled in the heart of Stafford, Cup a Cha is a delightful café that beautifully marries British charm with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. This themed tea room boasts an impressive collection of over 600 pieces of royal memorabilia, making it not just a dining spot but also a unique experience. Guests can indulge in generous portions of delicious offerings like the Palace Ploughman's or their divine BLT while enjoying fast and friendly service.
Amazing food. Generous portions. The BLT was divine and the ploughman's looked delicious. We had to wait to get a table but that just shows how good everything was. I highly recommend this place! They even have a fab take out deal as well. If you are ever in Stafford town. Go here even if it's just for a coffee. You won't regret it one bit!

It was a beautiful experience. The ambience is amazing! Food is great. Each and every staff is so polite and kind. This place is a must go and a highly recommended one. The price was very reasonable. Even the quality and quantity of food was fantastic. We ordered : 1. High tea - which included any choice of sandwich, a large drink, ( we took the homemade iced tea), a scone with cream and jam and any choice of cake. Sandwiches were too good and the fillings were freshly made. 2. Sausage and bacon sandwich

Thank you so much for making mums birthday extra special :)

A True Hidden Gem – Cup a Char, Stafford As someone who runs not one but two hospitality businesses, finding time for a little luxury like afternoon tea is a rare treat. For years, I’ve heard glowing reviews of Cup a Char and driven past more times than I care to admit—always meaning to stop, but never quite managing it. Today, with a rare couple of spare hours and my 18-month-old in tow, I finally made that long-overdue visit… and I’m so glad I did. First things first—booking? I hadn’t. And despite the place being clearly bustling with happy customers, the team welcomed us with open arms (and warm smiles). It’s a rarity these days to walk into such a busy venue and immediately feel at ease, but Cup a Char pulled it off with grace and charm. The food? Absolutely faultless. Fresh, beautifully presented, and every bite bursting with flavour. It’s the kind of fare that doesn’t just meet expectations—it exceeds them, then invites them back for dessert. But where Cup a Char really shines is in its service. Friendly, genuine, and full of personality—the staff made us feel like regulars from the moment we stepped through the door. My little girl was completely smitten, and honestly, so was I. This place is more than just a tea room—it’s an experience. A little slice of Staffordshire magic. I’ll absolutely be returning when time allows, and I’ll be recommending Cup a Char to everyone I know. Stafford’s sparkling gem, and one I’m delighted to have finally discovered

It was absolutely brilliant afternoon tea for the 5 of us. Amazing service. The only downside was we had checked the online menu, and this said one price, then we were charged another, so the online menu needs updating.

Needed a cuppa on long drive to Birmingham. Stopped off here in Stafford and found Cup of Cha. Husband had bacon and sausage sandwich and I had a teacake. Both were tasty.. The tea came in a lovely pot with proper China cups n saucers. Only way tea should be served in my opinion. Theme was the Royals. Had a table set out for afternoon tea. Beautiful little setup and prices were very reasonable.. Very clean and tidy.. highly recommend 👌

We were looking for a place for post park run Brunch and this spot was lovely. The window seat gave us a great view outside and the interior was pleasant too. The staff were all amazing! So friendly and provided some of the best service I’ve seen in a while. The Tunacado had lots of tuna, avocado and was seasoned well. My boyfriend said that the full English was really good as well. Coffees were very good and I really enjoyed brunch!

This is a lovely restaurant Quality food made to order All you can eat But with table service that I think makes a big difference for this style of dining.
Holly M — Google review
Fast Version The place has recently changed its style Old Styl (£20): All-you-can-eat fantastic food freshly served as you order anything on the menu for around £20 per person. New Style (£25 per person) (The same food): Set Menu Limited up to 8 dishes per table (regardless of number of people?) which gives you one small bite of each dish followed by a duck pancake followed by 2 small mains. Finally an Aldi style of homebrand cheesecake or chocolate cake. My Opinion Being someone who has experienced both styles I really enjoyed the all-you-can-eat style and always felt we got value for money. Last night we visited here unaware they had completely changed their style. I wasn't happy from the start but the waiter assured me we would be full. He was very wrong and I was very disappointed. 5 grown men were sharing 8 dishes between us. Each dish had a bite-sized rib or triangle of prawn toast. It was the same as the original food but just hardly any of it. We then waited 45 minutes after our starters for our next course to come. I can only assume this is to encourage you to buy more drinks because the place wasn't even half full. I'm kicking myself for not just walking out in the first place if I'm honest. It was the WORST experience I've had mainly because I just feel completely ripped off. £25 on standard Chinese food that wasn't enough to fill you up. Don't get me wrong it was nice but nothing special and not worth the price tag. I'm extremely disappointed and will never be returning!

Redhill Brewers Fayre is a delightful family-friendly pub and restaurant chain that specializes in serving classic dishes alongside international favorites. With an emphasis on providing great-value meals, this establishment creates a welcoming atmosphere where families can enjoy delicious food together. One standout event is the pie and pudding night, offering an incredible deal for just £8.99, featuring options like a savory beef and ale pie paired with a delectable caramel apple betty dessert topped with hot custard—truly a treat!
Beautiful Family restaurant. Fresh clean lovely staff, Great menue fantastic prices, fab cocktails. Special thanks to lovely Poppy and Thea fantastic customer service from start to finish. Well done girls.

Went for the pie and pudding night, absolute bargain for £8.99, you can get a pie and dessert. Had a beef and ale pie (usually £11) and caramel apple betty (usually £5). The pie was light with a thin layer of puff pastry complimented by the buttery mash. The dessert however was the true winner, the caramel wasn’t overpowering and the apple wasn’t sour, it was on point and it can only be a winner when there’s hot custard over the top! The only downside was the lack of server which wasn’t the fault of the waiters, they were understaffed meaning seating, ordering and clearing was delayed, however amazing job to 2 ladies working tonight. They were doing everything as quick and efficiently as they can as well as keeping a smile on their faces. Keep up the good work team!

Awful! Burger and chips were cold. Only a handful of chips on each plate. We all had cold food. Gravy was spilt prior to arriving at table so replaced with what looks like oil. Photos attached of the worst food at the worst pub we have ever been to. If this is £12 a meal, keep it. We complained to the manager and were told its calorie controlled portions. Amazing when they do all you can eat breakfast and Unlimited roast potatos on a roast!!! Totally unapologetic. Poor all round and the portion of peas is something else! Avoid!!!!
Mark P — Google review
For 10.99 I did think there could’ve been a few more chips especially as I’d asked for no salad or coleslaw. Staff were quite blunt and there became a queue as when waiting to be served there was no one at the bar for a while. Waited about half hour for food and had to order at the bar etc., the friends I attended with weren’t too happy. On the positive sides, there was a nice photo backdrop as you went in and blue light discount 25% as well as free parking and the food was genuinely nice but we didn’t stay for dessert.

Staff were ok ,one member in particular was constantly on her phone and didn't seem like she wanted to be there . Food was average . I had the soup which was broccoli. Mini trio pies and mash (even though it was smash) Mini profiteroles and ice cream .

Staff: Super helpful & friendly, but clearly spread thin Speed of service: short wait, sometimes had a long wait. Food: good pub food, a variety of different meals & flavours Meat free options: a few yes Allergy accommodation: not able to accommodate by changing meal but very helpful staff member checking ingredients for me Willingness to adapt menu: not so much as most things come pre packaged and only required heating and presentation Portion sizes: good size Food presentation: medium- average Cutlery: standard Crockery: standard white Glasses: some cheap, some less cheap Average price of main: around £9 ...but often have promotions running Drinks: many to choose from with a refill option on soft drinks that you serve yourself at the machine, crushed ice available at machine also Interior: bright pub vibes, the furnishings could do with an update Cleanliness: standard Table decor: standard salt & Peper etc Lighting: warm but bright Busy or not: busy on Saturday Atmosphere, music & entertainment: A light ambience calmed with carpet floors Outdoor space: little Lavatory / baby change: yes Parking: plenty Worth noting they have a soft play area for children They do Sunday roasts Definitely sign up for a points account as they also send you good promotions like a free meal (we had this one today) (see photos)

Positives- -staff are super friendly And the Price was okay due to the bill coming to £130 for 11 people ( food ) Negatives Super Super Low quality food! ( My boy had a kids pizza and it looked like the 50p one from asda ( wish I took a picture) My burger was around £12.99 and was meant to be there " big burger " ( see photo for what I got lol) worst burger iv had in years and I was so hungry after I left. To put it into context we  Went for a meal with 11 people and 2 out of the 11  said they enjoyed there meals. The rest all said the same thing "food quality is low and the portion sizes were terrible" If it wasn't for the staff I would of gone 1 star but it's definitely the worst food I've had in years! Quick fix - In my eyes if the food quality is that low they have to go  quantity  so people won't leave feeling unsatisfied.

I have frequented the Paint It Yourself Pottery Co multiple times and on each occasion, the staff have been extremely friendly. The equipment for painting has always been efficient, and the staff provide clear explanations while periodically checking on customers. The atmosphere in the shop is enjoyable, and there is a delightful variety of refreshments available. Overall, my experiences at this pottery store have been brilliant.
Been here twice now! 1 for a date and another for my mums birthday which she absolutely loved! Employees are lovely too and help with whatever you need! Last time my mum took longer than expected and they gave us 3 options but due to her not being local they were kind enough to move us to another table till she was done which I can't thank you all enough for! Will be going again at some point for the Paint and sip but also the puppy days at some point as both look amazing!

A lovely pottery painting experience and the finished product is great. Love the textured paint, which was a really nice option to include in my piece! The staff were lovely too. Only things that could be better if I were to come back are offering longer than 2 hours for a time slot (I had a baby with me which made things tight but also the rest of my group were rushing towards the end). Perhaps offer a list of your products / pictures and prices online so people can choose ahead of time and that doesn’t eat into painting time. Because of the time constraint, I didn’t have time to try one of the lovely cakes - next time!
SianB — Google review
there's a big variety of things to paint, tasty drinks and collection was really easy - picked it up in less than a week. i chose a cappuccino mug which was £17.50. only 4 stars because the (i presume) manager commented negatively on my name three times, saying she 'would definitely spell it wrong' which was completely unnecessary and it was a poor ending to what had been a nice session. it's a shame because all of the other staff were so lovely and helpful.
Adanma — Google review
We have just spent a fabulous afternoon here. The selection of pottery to paint is excellent; the range of paints is wide and varied. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who were professional, friendly and helpful. I was impressed at the calm, polite way that one member of staff dealt with an extremely rude customer. I can't wait to pick up my bowl to see what chaos I wrought on it. We will definitely be back again!

Amazing place! So good that we went back 2 days on the trot. Incredible service and help with how to get the best results. Really relaxed atmosphere and saw kids and adults alike having a great time. The price is all baked in to the cost of the item; and considering this includes an amazing range of paints, brushes, materials, glazing and firing, it’s a really fair offer. Hope i will be able to visit much more; I love it.

Brought my partner here as a birthday treat as he's been wanting to do this for a while. Absolute loved the experience. The staff were wonderful, the milkshake I had was yummy, they had a dog inside and there was a huge rack of things you can paint. We ran over with out painting the rest of the day and the staff were patient and let us stay a while so we could desperately finish our pieces. :) Looking forward to picking up our pieces!

A quiet place for freda,s resting place. New Zealand,s regiment mascot.
Billy T — Google review
The grave marks the last resting place of Freda, a Harlequin Great Dane dog who made her mark in the military. he was a dog who was the faithful mascot of the Fifth Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, and her time stems from the New Zealand Army's visit to Brocton Camp, Cannock Chase, in September 1917 for training. Freda was around two years old when she arrived. It is not clear whether she accompanied the New Zealand Rifle Brigade from its previous posting on Salisbury Plain, with some claiming she was presented to them at World War One's Battle of the Somme. Rumours abound the origin of Freda's name, with some suggesting she was named after the daughter of a man who kept the Soldiers' Club in Hednesford. As a mascot for the New Zealand battalion based at Cannock Chase, Freda would take part in parades and was a familiar sight around the camp. Freda died to disease in December 1918 and was buried at The Cannock Chase War Cemetery, alongside the resting place of 50 other members of the brigade who died the same year. Surviving members of the brigade, who gave Freda the nickname of "The Dinks", placed a headstone in her memory. Freda's collar is held at the national Army Museum in Waiouru, New Zealand. For years to come after the war, people from the nearby village of Brereton kept Freda's grave tidy, laying crosses and flowers each year. After it was vandalised, the Friends of Cannock Chase group laid a new marble headstone in her honour in 1964. The headstone was renewed again in 2001, costing around £350, and the grave remains a feature of historical tours. In 2010, Freda inspired the community's Armistice Day activities, with working dogs and their owners invited to a special service at her grave to celebrate the loyalty and service of such dogs.

Cold and beautiful. Roads on approach can be slippery and if you've not got 4wd the decent back into Brockton can be a little nerve rattling.

Beautiful for photography, incorporated a pre wedding shoot with a couple of hours wildlife. Can't wait go back. x

Children's amusement center
The Barley Mow Wacky Warehouse is a delightful destination for families, offering an engaging indoor play area designed specifically for children up to 4 feet 9 inches tall. This casual hub features exciting play structures and various activities that keep little ones entertained while parents can relax with some classic pub fare.
I visit the wacky quite often with my grandson. He absolutely loves it there. He’s taken a liking to the member of staff called Shannon. She’s so friendly, chatty, helpful and is amazing with the children. We like the crafts that they put out for tots club.

We booked a children's wackey play for my two children at 9am. The staff where late opening. On arrival noone had been to open and prepare for the children so they had to wait for the equipment to be checked -not cleaned at all. We ordered drinks but as noone had been in to prepare the machine where not ready and drinks took half an hour to come. We ordered food which was very nice. My son got a black piece of plastic embedded in his foot whilst playing. I put this down to the equipment not being cleaned prior to arrival. The toilets inside the play section has minimal toilet roll and didn't seem to have been cleaned prior to opening. The disabled toilet had minimal toilet roll , no soap and the toilet flush does not work correctly causing the lid of the cistern to lift and fall. Overall a disappointing visit for cleanliness and overall running of the wackey aspect of the business.

Really dirty especially the younger section. It smelt of wee too Christ knows when the balls were last cleaned. Ordered food it took about 40 mins to come which is ridiculous when ordering for a toddler. I went to use the bbq sauce, the lid was almost glued on it was that dirty. I won’t be visiting again very disappointed.

Staff are always friendly. Coffee machine has been broken for the past week and on previous visits hasn't been turned on in time for softplay opening so didn't get a hot drink till 10am. Food orders come from the main pub. The toast always arrives cold, I still order as early morning softplay isn't for the weak and it comes with real butter Area is kept nice and clean, staff are always tidying up and even clean the car park. I like that I can always see my mini monster from all seating.

Our niece had a great time. A fairly standard soft play venue, but in need of a refresh decorewise. The girl on duty did so well given she had to take money, make drinks and look after the place al on her own.

We went to The Barley Mow Wacky warehouse on a weekday morning. They have a tots club which is £4 per child for 90 mins play. Today they also had a small activity on for the children to join in with! Fab soft play for younger ones and the staff are super friendly and helpful! Make sure you pop your number plate into the computer when you arrive!
Gemma H — Google review
Our grandson loves it here. However it is very pricey for drinks. Bottle of pop cost £3-70! That's just robbing people when shops charge £1-70 for same thing. So don't buy drinks in play centre!

Had an incident in the play area today with my Grandson . I cannot thank the member of staff who was on duty around 3.00 enough . She handled everything so professionally she is a credit to your establishment .

Fast food restaurant
Wimpy is a beloved eatery that has stood the test of time, offering a delightful menu filled with burgers, mixed grills, and other comfort food favorites. Recently, I made the journey to one of their charming roadside locations and was greeted by friendly service that instantly put me at ease. The outdoor seating was perfect for enjoying my double cheeseburger topped with crispy bacon—an absolute treat! While the chips were decent, I found myself craving crispier onion rings to accompany my meal.
There’s something about Wimpy that just brings the memories flooding back. Simple, nostalgic, and still hits the spot. Ordering’s easy on the self-service screens and you collect straight from the counter — no fuss. Don’t leave without grabbing a big bottle of Wimpy’s special sauce, it’s a classic! Parking can be a bit tricky if you want to stop right outside, so I usually park up and take a short walk in. Worth it every time for that proper retro burger fix. Fast service. Double OG Quarter Pounder with cheese, chips and chocolate milkshake. Was so excited to have a Wimpy burger after so many years. But I should have kept with the great memories and nostalgia. My main gripe is the beef patties. Little flavour, texture and was mushy!!! Are they boiled and flash fried for a minute? My burger disintegrated into a sloppy mess.
Paul S — Google review
This is a takeaway. We went as it was a favourite when we were younger. Similar taste for the half pounder as I remembered. Chips were a better quality than other similar places Expensive but I don't go to other burger fast food places so have nothing to compare

Updated July 2025: Now very limited veggie/vegan options, after removing Quorn burger. The bean burger doesn't even come with any tomato. The self order terminals take away from the charm. Have to pay 40p for sauces now. Generally the menu is getting more expensive. The milkshakes are still good.

Service with a smile 🙂 First time visiting Wimpy in years, I travelled 20+ miles to this one ☝🏼 Small road side type shack with outside and patio seating, I liked it on a day like today 🌞 I had a double cheese burger add bacon 🍔 🥓 absolutely delicious burger 10/10, that on its own with a drink would have been enough. I also had chips, they were OK 7/10 I had a portion of onions rings too, nice but I like mine crispier 7/10 Diet Pepsi no ice 10/10 Altogether that cost £17.20 I’ll definitely be back but just burger and drink next time 👌🏼

Ask my wife what she wanted to do for our 53rd wedding Anniversary and she said I'll like to go to the Wimpy remember where we used to go with the kids when they were little l said OK. It all changed now there's a proper car park we used to park on the common & you have to pay. Its right next to the Barley Mow pub. Beautiful berger

Love this place. Would definitely recommend. Only a few parking spaces, but plenty a short walk away. Staff are always super friendly. Their chips are good, and special sauce one of my favourite.

Modern Indian restaurant
Indian restaurant
Viceroy Restaurant Stafford is a true gem that never fails to impress. With its modern decor and welcoming atmosphere, it sets the perfect stage for an enjoyable dining experience. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, making every guest feel at home from the moment they arrive. The menu features a delightful array of traditional Indian dishes with unique twists that you won't find elsewhere, all expertly balanced in flavor.
If you want food that has the best fresh herbs & spices ingredients to make any dish on the menu taste superb then this is the place , if you want bland Indian food full of sugar and colouring to make it look and taste good like most Indian restaurants then this is not the place to eat . 10/10

Always a highlight of our visits to Stafford. Have used the restaurant in the past, but now we have grandchildren we get takeaways. Food always gorgeous & the staff always very attentive & friendly. Very reasonably priced. One member of the family is celiac & they have never had any problems (we always highlight allergy on order). Have no hesitation recommending.

We went there very first time and it was really amazing experience. Everything was perfect, staff members all good, I like there most that was their serving style. I recommend it to you if you want to enjoy Indian style. Thanks

High quality food with excellent presentation. I've watched this restaurant develop and just get better and better. The soft shell crab starter is especially remarkable. The staff want to do a great job and care about doing so, opening the door for you as you leave. Recommend a visit.

Don’t waste your money. Ordered a takeaway to be delivered. Was 35 minutes late. Was emailed at time of delivery to say food on way. 30 mins later still not arrived. Rang the restaurant & was just told was on the way. Unsurprisingly when it arrived it was barely warm. Rang the restaurant to tell them it was cold & they just hung up. Extremely poor delivery service and extremely poor customer service.

Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a fantastic experience at this Indian restaurant! The modern décor immediately sets a stylish and welcoming tone. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. We tried the lunch set menu and were very impressed — there was a great selection of dishes to choose from, and everything was beautifully presented. Each dish was full of authentic flavor and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was relaxed yet vibrant, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely lunch. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious Indian cuisine in a contemporary setting.

I love this restaurant! Second visit here and it does not disappoint. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The venue itself is really nice and very pleased they have expanded their carpark now. The food is off the charts. There are some amazing takes on traditional dishes and some unique dishes you won't find in other restaurants and all are excellently balanced. We took 2 family members with us this time and they said afterwards that it had ruined cheap indian restaurants for them! But please know that this is by no means expensive and in comparison to other quality restaurants I would say competitive. If you havent tried it then make it your next meal out.

We visited on fathers after ring up to book earlier in the week they couldn’t find our reservation, was seated and served to popadoms and drinks, small cokes which we found pricey, 4 out of 5 starters appeared before we finished the popadoms felt rather rushed 5th starter was wrong which they soon replaced but looked liked it was thrown on the plate and was tasteless, waited for mains around 35 mins which was ok has we had popadoms and starter quickly, we asked twice for more drinks ( I understand it was busy) main came out rice and chips very small portions, curry’s was a decent serving, did notice 3 out the 5 curry’s was very oily mine was nice but again chicken was very bland, my daughters was like a korma with tikka meat and arrived in crockery that was chipped (about 3) was very off putting, wasn’t asked if food was ok, wasn’t given a clean up wipe like most restaurant's do asked for the bill 3 times which took a further 30 mins, and we did ask one of the servers about the curry and they did discount £5 off the bill, not the best experience, plenty of other restaurants to visit.
