Fontana della Bollente is a fascinating attraction in Acqui Terme, Italy. It's a small pavilion covering the spot where hot sulphur water bubbles up at 75C (167F). The fountain is located in Piazza San Francesco, close to other attractions like Fontana Romana. The town offers cozy bars and cafes, making it a wonderful place to stroll around and enjoy the historical charm. Visitors can also fill bottles with the local mineral water from this ancient thermal spring.
Waft the mineral notes to your nose, inhale the sulphides. Thermal waters are supposedly great for joints and health.

Wonderful late 18th century natural thermal spring. Be careful not to burn your hands, it's about 75°C in winter! The town itself offers lots of cozy bars and cafes and comes alive in the evening

This delightful spot offers an impressive array of food and beverages, from expertly brewed coffee to delectable pastries that are sure to please any palate. Visitors rave about the friendly staff who provide exceptional service, making every guest feel welcome.
We were strolling around the city because we booked a place to have a lunch , and we decided to take aperitivo before and we stop at this place .. long story short we decided to come back after lunch because how much we love the cocktails , the person and the ambience !! For sure we will come back if we are around the city !!

Very slow service and very pricey! There was only one waitress and it took forever to place the order. They charged us 8€ for two teas, abusive! It's in the charming square but not worth it. Better to find a place near the square that does not have ridiculous prices.
Ester F — Google review
Absolutely horrendous service with a 50 minute wait for our food. The food did not arrive at the same time and the staff was very inattentive to our needs. The amount of French fries was some sort of scam. See picture. Considering the generous and attentive nature of Italians this was by no means in line with other service and quality of food we have received during our several week travels in Italy. Such a shame.
Kristbjörg K — Google review
7 euros for a very small amount of babera wine is a way too much. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Best restaurant! Staff is incredible! Have had the pizza and pasta which I loved. My friends had hamburgers and highly recommended them as they were delicious! We will be back! They know what they are doing!

From the moment we walked in we were received with friendly greetings and honest smiles. Staff are super friendly. They walk you inside their restaurant which can easily be labeled as a sanctuary of the popular culture, where music, movies and food merge for the delight of patrons and visitors. Service is dynamic, honest, with a light attitude regardless of how busy they are. Food is perfect. From their unparalleled pizza to their one of a kind November Rain burger, to their coffee and their desserts. All perfectly wrapped in the heart warming smiles of everyone inside. Their spirit got me so excited that yea, I’m literally copy/pasting the exact same review I posted in other platforms. They deserve it. If you are near, please stop by. La Dolce Vita is what eating is supposed to feel like, good food, good service and nice people.

Loved the ambient and the food ,the pizzas are as good as it can get and the price is 🔥 👌🏼 Very recommended!

The pizzas, lovingly crafted and cooked in a genuine stone oven, were amazing. Not to mention, incredibly affordable! In the span of just one week, I found myself returning here several times. And although I dined here multiple times, I only ate pizza diavola. It was so delicious that I found myself choosing it every time! I do hope that in the future, I'll be able to exercise more self-control and explore the enticing array of other pizzas available. The staff are truly lovely. They create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit. Until we meet again!

Acquedotto Romano is a well-preserved ancient Roman aqueduct located in a public park. Visitors can explore the remains and enjoy educational displays in both Italian and English. The site offers a beautiful view of the impressive aqueduct, with ample space for leisurely activities such as walking, biking, and picnicking. Additionally, there is a playground nearby, making it an ideal destination for families with children.
The 2000 year old Roman aqueduct is one of the best kept remains of its kind in Northern Italy. It is assumed that it used to be 12 km long and had a 50 meter hight difference so water would travel from nearby mountains into the city. What a testimony to human engeneering !

Restaurant
Located near the famous La Bollente, an unmissable attraction in Acqui Terme, Pizzeria Ristorante Vecchio Borgo is a recommended dining spot. No reservations are needed if you drop by on a Saturday evening. The menu offers a variety of traditional Italian dishes to choose from, such as pasta with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, and goat cheese, as well as focaccia topped with Parma ham and burrata.
The restaurant has prime location in Acquiterme with views to the Bollenta. The food is excellent with options for gluten intolerant people. I ate several times there - a very well rounded experience - location, service, excellent food and fair price - it all works well together. The desserts are what one would expect, but then they have a twist with a surprise ingredient! I recommend going there to eat and having as dessert panne cotta - the cook, chef Patricia, created a symphony of texture flavor and balance … you will not regret trying it, I promise!

We came with a group op 15 people and were served by a really nice waiter. She was really nice and funny. The food was great like the wine! Good price, would really come again.

Close to “La Bollente”, a must-see landmark in Acqui Terme. We swing by on a Saturday evening without booking. They offer several Italian dishes. We went for a pasta with pesto, dried tomatoes and goat cheese, and a focaccia with Parma ham and burrata. Great selection of dessert. Considering the cleanliness of the place, the courtesy of the staff and the quality-price ratio, I feel like recommending this nice restaurant.
Maurizio V — Google review
Service fee 2€ Per person. 13€ charge for sparkling water. Tourist trap of a pizzeria with slightly below average pizza and pasta. Can’t recommend.

Quality of food is ok, a bit for tourists (I am Italian so I know ). Service is decent but I found a hair at the bottom of my salad. Not from anyone at my table as we were all blond and it was black. We paid for the salad too. Nothing to make up for it even after telling the waiter. No thanks.

La Fonte - Restaurant Vineria Enoteca is an excellent bar where one can indulge in delicious beverages such as high-quality cocktails or the renowned wines of Piemonte. It offers a delightful experience of pairing these drinks with delectable tapas food, making each round enjoyable. The establishment boasts an impressive selection of wines and a menu filled with exceptional dishes. Furthermore, they accept American Express cards for convenience.
We met Luca and Virginia for our anniversary dinner. We had a wonderful meal. It was lovely on the terrace overlooking the thermal baths of Acqui Terme. The dishes were exquisite, carefully prepared by Rosangela, who runs the kitchen. Combined with the carefully selected wines by Luca (also a sommelier), this is the perfect place. Virginia's hospitality is very welcoming and feels like home! Inside the restaurant is an Enoteca that is definitely worth a visit. Luca can tell you all about broad variety of the wines. A Michelin Guide listing would certainly be a well-deserved bonus for this fantastic establishment. We would love to come back!
Chris J — Google review
The service we received was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. We visited for dinner with our children and were met with a complete lack of respect and understanding regarding the noise kids naturally make. Due to the rude communication of the staff, we decided to cut our visit short. Unfortunately, the owner responded with aggressive language as we were leaving, which only made the situation worse. We expected a more family-friendly atmosphere and better customer service. Would not recommend for families with small children, even if the staff claims they welcome kids.
Selim K — Google review
Most rude server we have ever seen in our lives! Started with small insults that our stroller was in the way, then proceed to comment negatively that our youngest (1y old!!) had made tomato stains on the table cloth, and lastely made a comment that our kids were too loud and that they were not „normal children“ (on the first comment, if he had asked nicely, without insulting our children and our parenting, we would of course have done everything to quiet our children). We asked the check and left immediately. EDIT: Our children were not throwing food on the ground, my 1 year old had dropped a grisini and before I could pick it up, the waiter already came in with a sour face and a mean comment (which had happened 20 min before any other guests had arrived). The 3 older children (3y old!) had gotten up from the table after finishing their plates quietly and nicely (no stains at all) and were indeed running around, while we were trying to clean up the little one. I would not at all have mind a kind request about making sure the older ones do not disturb the other customers (a completely correct request) but the tone of voice was so condescending and it was literally said „your kids are not normal“, which was the final straw. Mind you, before we sat down we had asked their permission of having 4 kids, of which one was a baby, in a nice etablissement, and they guaranteed us it was totally fine. All things being said, even if you can defend the actual events, there is no way you can justify the tone of voice and condescending behaviour displayed towards a family with kids by that one waiter.

Lunch was delicious, as was the recommended wine by the glass, staff was very friendly. The check was surprisingly high, hence better ask what the charge for a wine by the glass or for dishes of the day is. Difference between what we had from the menu and what was not listed was rather out of proportion.

Antica Osteria Da Bigat is a hidden gem in Acqui Terme, renowned for its exquisite cuisine. This popular eatery is not your typical tourist trap; it's beloved by locals as well. The menu features delectable dishes like farinata, fresh porcini mushroom tagliatelles, and fried porcini mushrooms. The food is simply unreal, making it one of the best dining experiences in Italy.
This place is a true gem and the food was exquisite. It’s one of the famous restaurants in Acqui Terme, not a tourist trap but a favorite among the locals too. Food was mediocre, service was slow. The bread didn't taste fresh. My fork was dirty, I politely asked to bring me a clean one, they forgot about it and I had to remind them. Also (for tourists) the waiters didn't speak any English.

We did a weekend tour and the guide was great however the Villa itself was tired and needed an injection of money and love to bring it up the standard I imagine it once was. The bones of the gardens are visible however it lacked recent care and attention.

Martin J — Google review
The Monterosso complex in Acqui Terme is the only example in Italy of close collaboration between architects, painters, sculptors and patrons to create the creation of a manor house characterized by the presence of important works of art. In 1920 the Counts Ottolenghi, Arturo and Herta von Wedekind zu Horst entrusted the design of Villa Ottolenghi, first to Federico d'Amato and then to the famous architect Marcello Piacentini. The patronage of the Ottolenghi brought a good number of artists to Monterosso: Ferruccio Ferrazzi, Fortunato Depero, Adolfo Wildt, Libero Andreotti, Fiore Martelli, Arturo Martini, Rosario Murabito, Venanzo Crocetti and Ferruccio Ferrazzi. It was at Villa Ottolenghi that Arturo Martini produced and brought some of his most important works including "Il Tobiolo, Adamo ed Eva, the Lions of Monterosso ...". On the death of the Counts, it is the son Astolfo who undertakes to complete the villa with the park by Pietro Porcinai. Not far from the villa, the Mausoleum, today "Temple of Herta", and the park, obtained from a precise scenographic design which takes the name of "Earthly Paradise". The huge portal of the Temple, in bronze, nickel and engraved copper, a monumental work of the masters Ernesto and Mario Ferrari, is a prelude to the beauty of the frescoes by Ferruccio Ferrazzi, and of the mosaics made by the mosaic school of Ravenna. And then around the villa the formal Garden, the Well, the Studies, the Cisternone and the Promenade that runs along the perimeter of the complex, the Graffiti, the Wisteria Pergola, the Swimming Pool, the Cellar ... are stages of a path of discovery that surprises for the attention to detail and here and there wrought iron masterpieces emerge such as: mushrooms, turtles, birds, snails ... the swivel armchairs in marble and among all this emerge the sculptures of the artist Herta.

Fontana Romana is a historical site in Acqui Terme, known for its ancient fountain dating back to the 1st-2nd century AD. The remains of the fountain are made of stone slabs and tied with metal clamps, featuring a smaller basin from which water drains. Discovered during district heating works in 1988-89, it is now visible through a fenced and glass structure with illustrative panels.

Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to see and appreciate. Found during some road excavations in the late 1980s, it is made up of several blocks of polished stone and a higher slab from which the water flowed. (Translated by Google) It is part of a larger archaeological excavation, but it is not so easily identifiable (at least following the directions on Google maps) because it is located below the road surface. It can't really be visited, you can see it from above, but it loses its charm and beauty: it's April and it was dirty with confetti! I would have imagined it more on a street corner, with a simulation or restoration of its ancient function of distributing water even to those who didn't have any at home.

Wine store
Enoteca Regionale Acqui Terme e Vino is situated in the underground cellars of the historic Palazzo Robellini, at the heart of Acqui Terme. The Enoteca offers a diverse selection of wines from the upper Monferrato region, including Brachetto d'Acqui, Dolcetto d'Acqui, Gavi, and more. Additionally, it features grappas and other locally-made spirits.
This hole in the wall was such a great find! When we first walked in, I was overwhelmed- the selection is vast! But shopkeeper/oenologist Alessio came to the rescue with his incredible knowledge and his wonderful patience. When tasting, he listened to my feedback and found me a perfect wine. Not only that, but I was amazed that it was such a great value. If you find yourself in Acqui Terme and if you are looking for great wine, look no further.
Klongmartin — Google review
Lovely place with a good local wine selectiom. But we expected an option for degustation. There were only 3 wines open to try and the man working at the store did not really try to accomodate us. You cannot just to there to drink a glass of wine, they did not sell anything to drink.
Simona — Google review
Not to be missed!! Allesio (Lo Sardo), an oenologist and our sommelier, was outstanding and welcoming. He also spoke excellent English, which we dearly appreciated, and is SUPER knowledgeable about the wines of Piemonte. The wines here are selected through a blind tasting where they must meet a high threshold to be offered at this 'enoteca.' We were offered a custom tasting, which for us included a sparkling rose from a local varietal, to a luscious Albarossa (2019) from wine maker La Lus. 6 Stars, and thank you Allesio for sharing your expertise and passion of regional wines with fantastic hospitality! We will be back!

Part of the steps intended for spectators were cut directly into the rocky bank of the hill, connected by access stairways of which some remains are still preserved. Nel banco roccioso della collina erano direttamente tagliate parte delle gradinate destinate agli spettatori, collegate da scalinate di accesso di cui ancora si conservano alcuni resti. The Archeological Civic Museum, located inside the historic castle of Acqui Terme, offers a small but fascinating collection of Roman era remains. The museum's few rooms showcase the town's significance during that period, making it an ideal visit for children. Additionally, the museum is continuously enriched with numerous discoveries from the basement, providing hope for its expansion in the future. The site also offers an evocative experience and recommends audio guides for a more immersive visit.
An amazing view into the history of Acqui Terme and for 2€ to get a guided tour it is definetely worth visiting!

For some reason they put up a sign at the roman baths, that both the baths AND the civic museum are temporarily closed. Which apparently isn't true, but we discovered this long after we left Roman baths closed, fountain under reconstruction, thermal baths either temporarily closed or abandoned. This town really doesn't want tourists to visit In short: So thank you to whoever put up this sign for wasting a whole day

Restaurant
Nestled in a charming cobbled side street of Aqui Terme, Osteria X Bacco is a delightful blend of an osteria and vineria that promises an authentic Italian dining experience. This family-run gem showcases captivating artwork from the owner's brother, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features an array of fresh seafood like ricciola and salmone, alongside hearty meat dishes such as handmade gnocchi with Bra sausage and mushrooms.
What a wonderful find: osteria and vineria combined! Discovered by chance on Google and then in pole position on The Fork with a 20% food discount. This is what can be classified as an Italian-style local and gastronomic experience in a cosy, self-effacing setting. The restaurant is tucked away on a cobbled side street in Aqui Terme. Family-run and decorated with lots of fascinating artwork by the owner's (Ezio's) brother, the restaurant menu is varied and offers both meat and fish dishes. Interestingly enough, there was no bread basket in sight! Remember the interesting fact that professional eaters always tell one to skip a bread basket. What struck us was the kindness of Ezio who regularly passed by our table to check that all was to our satisfaction and who topped up the typical Piemontese bagna caudo (anchovies, garlic and oil) dish and seasonal vegetables. Unexpected and very much appreciated as this dipping sauce and accompanying vegetables were perfect and represented the highest point of the meal. Dessert was a delicious hazelnut cake with zabaione, washed down with a hot espresso. Top marks to Ezio and his team! P.S. Thanks for showing us the white truffle. Must return for that tasting delight!
