Locarno combines a mild, almost Mediterranean climate with a dramatic setting on the shores of Lake Maggiore, backed by steep Alpine hills. Visitors can take lake cruises, hike or ride funiculars into the surrounding valleys, and relax in lakeside promenades and parks. Locarno also hosts notable cultural events, including the long-running Locarno Film Festival.
With favorites like Ristorante La Chiesa, Falconeria Locarno, and Bolle di Magadino, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Tesoro 25 75 14 41 and Perbacco - Ristorante Pizzeria so you can get the best taste of Locarno while you’re here. Piazza Grande in Locarno is a charming town square featuring cobblestone streets and historic buildings. The square serves as the focal point for various events such as film festivals and food fairs, making it a lively hub of activity. Surrounded by old palaces and adorned with harmonious porticos in the Lombard architectural style, Piazza Grande offers a picturesque setting for visitors to explore.
We came in the summer from Ascona to Locarno by local bus to explore its famous Piazza Grande and the surrounding old town. Our idea was to have dinner somewhere in the mazes of the old town. In the evening the magnificent Piazza was already quite empty, so we could admire it very well. The Piazza is bordered by rows of colorful three-story houses. Narrow streets go off in different directions. Nice compact old town.

Piazza Grande is the central square in old town Locarno. It's a pretty big square adorned with beautiful Italian style vivid color houses. A famous summer film festival is held here. Place is cool to walk and sip a drink in one of outdoor cafes, however it's deserted at night

A cute Square in the center of Locarno. Beautiful colorful historical buildings.

Just a great place to relax and to enjoy a nice meal, ice cream or coffee. There are beautiful parks nearby and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes for any tastes.
Beat O — Google review
Please note my comments are based primarily around our film festival experience within this space. It’s early August and the Locarno Film Festival is in full flow, the centrepiece is the Piazza Grande, where up to 8000 people per night gather to watch movies on one of the world’s biggest screens. It’s an experience you are unlikely to forgot, to share those moments with thousands of strangers, it’s kind of amazing and incredibly cool. I love the environment here, who says cinema is dead when so many gather to watch films both big and small. Loved it each night as bats made their way across the screen, maybe they were watching.

Recently renovated local casinò. Casual and laid-back atmosphere. The place attracts mostly locals and tourists. Slot machines, roulette, american roulette and blackjack are available. Friendly and efficient staff. Bar is good and with standard bar prices. Must have an ID card or driving license to enter.

Best bar in Locarno! We like the unusual interior design and the quality of drinks and food. The staff is young and very friendly but take your time and enjoy it - not a place for a quick 3-min-espresso.

Italian restaurant
Perbacco is a great pizzeria in Amsterdam. The food is consistently good, and the service can be better than at other restaurants. Children will enjoy the menu, which includes pizza and pasta dishes as well as some colouring activities.
I had lunch here, linguini with shrimps, the plate is just like the photo in the menu. The noodles were super fresh and delicious and the shrimps very tender. The green touch from Rucola is definitely a level-up both visually and taste-wise. For dessert, the banana bread with Marroni ice cream is super! The bread is so fluffy and soft, like eating a piece of cloud. It's not too sweet, either. Special complement to Enrico who provided excellent service, attentive, efficient, and friendly. It was a very pleasant dining experience.

We spent a really pleasant evening at Perbacco - Ristorante Pizzeria. The food was very good and the service personal very competent. All our six dishes were served at the exact same time: Bravo! We still recognized a few possible improvements: - The risotto was considered a liiittle bit too salty - The pizza napoli had a liiitle to much oregano on it. The other dishes were impeccable! Buut…Also we had to wait a liiitle bit too long. Overall we must recommend the place and we are happy to visit Perbacco - Ristorante Pizzeria again on our next visits to Italy. 🇮🇹

We came for dinner in a large group. Not a good first impression since they messed up our reservation and our table wasn't ready. They did recover and gave us a very nice long table for the family, the setting was nice. Operationally this restaurant struggles since the food takes a long time, and they can only handle orders for the entire group at once. There are many bottle-necks and you need to keep reminding the staff of what you had asked them. Food was ok.
Kevin A — Google review
Wonderful Restaurant. Staff is super nice. Even without reservation and full restaurant they carved out a table for 3 for my spouse and my son. Food and drinks as well as service was amazing. Was my second time and will come again. Mille gracie!

Fantastic restaurant and pizzeria, the products are of very high quality, everything is delicious. The highlight was the home made tiramisu - we came back twice for it. Definitely recommend!
Boryana M — Google review
We only went to the restaurant for dinner, as we were in the area. The food was very nice (I had a lovely seasonal tagliatelle and the pizza was also good) they were also very accommodating about where we could sit, but they should pay more attention to the waiters - ours stunk terribly to the point of feeling sick when he was around. So bad for the restaurant reputation.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Ascona, Ristorante Locanda Locarnese is a delightful eatery that captures the essence of Italian cuisine. With its cozy dining room featuring an inviting open fireplace, it creates a warm and charming atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal. The chef at Locanda Locarnese takes pride in crafting seasonal menus that highlight fresh ingredients, ensuring each dish reflects the best of what nature has to offer throughout the year.
One of the best restaurants in Locarno by our experience in very center of the old city. Everything from menu was amazing! Service was friendly and professional.

The overall experience was good. My expectations were higher, food was greatly presented (even though a bit old fashioned), but it overtook flavours. The atmosphere was good and the staff really friendly. We got the full menu (5 courses) and they also brought an amuse bouche in the beginning. My comment is that somehow it was missing 'love' from the dishes. With a bit of extra care from good they could become delicious/extraordinary. I am not sure if I could go back for more. Thank you.

The food was good but I ordered the starter as a main course for 9 extra bucks (they had the option on the menu) but they came out with the small one anyways. I tried to ask why but was told they just couldn't do it? Careful next time for people ordering a starter as a main course.

Incredible, mouthwatering risotto. We had the five course dinner, they even made us a vegetarian version on the fly as they had no equivalent on the menu. Service was incredibly kind, very “home”-like feeling. Reserve if you can as it was and maybe still is very busy, even during the week.

Madonna del Sasso is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage site in Locarno, Switzerland, established after the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared in 1480. The Franciscan Santuario della Madonna del Sasso church, perched on a rocky crag above the town, was consecrated in 1487 at the spot where the apparition occurred. Visitors can take a scenic twenty-minute walk through a lush ravine or ride a funicular for stunning views of the church and Lake Maggiore.
We were visiting Locarno with friends and came here on a sunny summer day. Thankfully there weren’t many others so we were able to enjoy walking around. This church is amazing for its location and design. The interior has been well preserved, maybe restored. There are some 3D depictions of biblical events that are curious. The museum was closed so I can’t comment on that. Beware that there are many steps down (and up!) from the funicular stop. I definitely recommend spending time here. Cool spot.
Karl P — Google review
A beautiful Catholic church that dates back to the 15th century, and the site of a Marian apparition. You can access it by funicular, or there's some street parking near the funicular station - otherwise it's a bit of an uphill walk from Locarno (I think ~20min). Nice views of the lake, and very ornate decorations in the church, with a particularly nice oil painting from the 19th century of Jesus being carried from the cross.
Michel L — Google review
Beautiful church, magnificent views. Could be a bit crowded but definitely worth it
Amit O — Google review
Take the funicular up to here from the town below, trip takes about 5 minutes. On exiting the top station cross the road and walk down the path to get to the church. Be aware that it is quite a steep and long path down, it can get a bit tiring one the way back to the station especially when it's hot.
Ian F — Google review
Great views. You can take the funicular or walk the stairs from the lake.

There were barely any people, really quiet and enjoyable castle! You can even hear alot of the birds. Interesting material, clothes and alot of story about it! Kinda dangerous in the top side of the castle there were some open places so I would be careful if I brought a kid with me. But from 0/10 experience i would rate a 8/10

A great collection of Arp's work. Probably the best in the world. A definite must for lovers of modern art.
Richard L — Google review
We spent over an hour here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rustic grounds are wonderful for photos and contemplation. Inside, there are many frescoes in various states. It has a real lived-in feel. I loved the graffiti on the walls from various ages. There were some interesting exhibits of gravestones, furniture and other artifacts. As you can see from my photo, there is even a special alphabet attributed to this region. It's useful for deciphering some of the graffiti which is carved or chiseled in the walls. Mostly, we just loved exploring the castle ~ turrets, jail cells, etc., and the nostalgic feeling of time gone by. We were greeted by a friendly employee who gave us some valuable advice, especially about parking in Locarno. If you park between 12 & 2 pm, your parking is free! That allowed us to make the most of our time in the city.

We invited 8 people to the restaurant and were embarrassed by the terrible service and the unprofessional attitude of the waitress and waiters. To begin with, we ordered drinks and a bit of munchies to start the evening. We had come to this restaurant having seen an amazing appetizer platter being served. When I requested that platter for our table, we were informed that we couldn’t have it. I asked another waiter about it and he said that we could have it but rudely said that we would have to pay for it. Obviously. The drinks weren’t served together with some arriving 15 minutes after others. Our waitress forgot to give in one order and I had to go to the barman and back to our waitress to finally receive it , 30 minutes after the others. The same thing happened with the dinners we ordered. Some arrived 10 minutes after others. Our waitress forgot once again to give in two orders and by the time that food came, the others had finished eating. To top it off, aside from a bottle of wine, we ordered jugs of tap water for the table, which is quite common in Switzerland. I had to ask numerous times and wait for 10 minutes each time I asked for water. Some staff were quite hostile and openly complained about a client at a different table within our earshot . One staff member was great but everyone else was aggressive and unprofessional.

We were in a rush to catch our train. The waiter promised the food takeaway would be ready in 5 mins and it came in 5 mins! The fungi pizza and carbonara were very tasty and the portion was big. Will definitely go back if we visit Locarno again, hopefully sitting down and enjoy the lake view next time!

The Locarno-Madonna del Sasso funicular is a charming and old-fashioned mode of transportation that takes visitors up to a picturesque late-15th century church, which also serves as the starting point for mountain hikes. This cable railway offers an enjoyable experience for both children and adults alike, evoking childhood memories of excitement around rails. While there is also a bus route available to get to Orselina, the funicular provides a cute and vintage alternative.
Fantastic ride especially if you go all the way ti the Cimetta via two sequence of gondola. The last gondola is chair lift, spectacular and romantic. Various restaurants from Buffett to first class are available.

Brilliant funicular rail. Not busy when we went in the morning. Lovely 7-minute journey up. Great views.
Scott C — Google review
The funicular is a lovely experience if you want to reach the Madonna del Sasso’s monastery. The suggestion is to get only 1 way ticket. The wagon departs every 15min as it’s operated by one person: leave the seats to the elderly or children’s and enjoy the ride standing. In less than 5min you’ll be up to the church where views are breathtaking and the sound of the nature prevails. After roaming freely around the church you can start your way down.
Mary R — Google review
There's no need to buy a return ticket, the church is not on top, it's easier to walk down when you're already at the bottom of the church
Eva V — Google review
Very lovely experience especially with the kids. It is recommended to buy only one way and walk down the beautiful path. Once up, the view is outstanding.
Davina D — Google review
Super fun little trolley ride partway up the mountain. Really nice little stations too. Not much seating but it’s a short trip.
Karl P — Google review
The funicular ride costs 8 chf for a ticket both ways, and very worth it. The Madonna del Sasso church is beautiful and has a breathtaking view. You take the ride to Orselina (a few minutes), and from there you can go down the stairs to the church. The funicular itself is operated by one person who drives the wagon and sells tickets in between rides, so it is not the most efficient and we had to wait 15 minutes to get in, so that system could probably improved. But it was still very worth it and we enjoyed it.
Ula — Google review

Pizza restaurant
Ristorante La Tegola is a pizza restaurant that offers quick, efficient, and friendly service. The food has a homemade taste and is served promptly and steaming hot. The bread accompaniment is very fresh, and they have a wide selection of menu items including large salads, pizzas, and risotto that all look appetizing. The quantities are just right, not overpriced, and the charming environment in the back room adds to the dining experience.
Lovely place ♥️ Feels like home. Kind and friendly staff. The food is very good and tasty. Recommend for those who love meat, pizza, and Italian food in general. A fantastic lake view during the summer period is also a plus. Will be definitely back. Grazie!

Friendly service and great food! Been my favourite restaurant in Locarno for the past 20 years and the owner's hospitality comes from his heart :D Their spaghetti vongole is delicious and made with love^^ Their gelato card is diverse and a great refreshment on hot summer days. I recommend to visit La Tegola to enjoy a good evening (or lunch) with friends and family :) This place got all the right vibes in the right places!

We had an amazing and fantastic Margherita at the end of our hike in beautiful Locarno. We had the wood fired pizza with the crunchy edges (cornicione) by the lake and after that we wanted to get a second one ;)

Friendly service and nice location to be at. However the food had low quality. Basics like gnocchi not homemade, pomodore tasted like right out of the tin can. Please not again!

During my vacation in Switzerland, I visited Saray Kebab and was pleasantly surprised by the remarkable quality of their kebab. The food provided there surpassed all my expectations, making it the most extraordinary kebab I have ever tasted. Undoubtedly, I will make it a priority to return at some point in the future for another exceptional culinary experience at Saray Kebab.

Amazing restaurant! The food was unlike anything I've ever had before. Our waiter, Nusret, was really great. He explained the menu to us and was very attentive. The hotel that the restaurant is in has a beautiful courtyard, so sitting outside while you eat is quite nice!

Leveä of the food, service and price is everything you would expect from Belvedere hotel. As a hiker on your way to Madonna del Sasso it would be great when there was a cafe less expensive for refreshments.

This is probably the best restaurant in Locarno. Excellent fine dining experience, from the impeccable service to the wonderfully delicious and thoughtful dishes. We had the gnocchi, fillet and lamb, all superb dishes. The wine list is impressive and the house wines are good, both red and white. The decor of the restaurant is magnificent, with paintings on every corner, so elegant. It was such an amazing experience, and for fine dining, not at a steep price as well. Definitely recommend, I’d come back here the next time I’m in Locarno.

This restaurants wants to be entering the fine dining space but it is far from. The space is renovated and the team in the kitchen is young but everything else is institution style. The service is like that of a taverna, zero attention to guests, shouting loudly around, cleaning the room while you are eating. The food is just ok for the very high price. The setting outside is very sad, zero views and no atmosphere. Not recommended

Great restaurant with a nice view on the cooks! We had two dinners in the Fontena restaurant, one of them was a barbecue. The menu is limited unfortunately; the sirloin is not available for a single serve. However I highly recommend the veal which is copious. Wine list is okay as they have nice Italian wine. My difficult teen son had some special dish for him which was not on the menu.

Perfect Spot to Relax and Enjoy the Lake A fantastic place to spend the day! Beautifully maintained with stunning lake views, delicious blu restaurant, clean facilities, and plenty of space to swim, relax, or enjoy a drink. The mix of lake access, pools, and green areas makes it ideal for families or couples. We loved the atmosphere!

Fantastic place. As a traveller from the UK this provided a welcome place for relaxation, some sun, shade (helpfully!) and a great swim and slide. Really great setting beside the lake with beach and lake access. Large grassed areas with deckchairs or sun loungers, An Olympic height diving platform and aqua climbing (a first for me!) in a separate pool. A large outdoor pool great for lengths but also a fantastic temperature for a hot day. A heated outdoor pool that was like a bath on a hot day and children's splash play pool. Indoors two large pool areas. Finally 4 fantastic slides / flumes. We tried 3 but the vertical drop of the 4th saw us chicken out. A bit pricey but worth it!

Amazing place! On a sunny day it’s the perfect summer spot. So much fun for all ages — slides, jumps, and plenty of water activities both indoors and outdoors.
Hamid D — Google review
he cleanliness of the place is good. Unfortunately, there are very few shaded areas and swimming in the lake is not possible, which we weren’t aware of beforehand. In addition, there are limited food and drink options, with long queues at the available stands. Considering that swimming in the lake is not allowed, I also found the price to be quite high.

Well organized lido with a lot of swimming pools and one of them with hot water. There is also a diving area with trampoline and also a local restaurant which serves burgers, salats & pizza. The entry price for an adult is only 13 CHF. Totally worth the drive from Zurich considering the huge temperature differences ☀️🔝

I love this place , very neat and clean Its a fun distention for the family More than 5 swimming pool with different sizes , small aqua park inside Shaded pools , and nice restrant as well Negative point : 1 bottle of water cost 3.5 euro ( you can imagine the rest ) Also the entrance ticket cost 20 euro approx which is very expensive compared to the other lido in Switzerland

We were in Locarno for the triathlon and the entrance fee was included so we chilled before the event. The place is really nice, it feels luxurious for the price you pay - which I think it’s 13 francs. The structure is very modern and the areas themselves are clean and inviting.

Area is gorgeous but not really big. You have one Outside pool and one inside pool with 3 separate small jacuzzi. Sauna area is extremely atmospheric and beautiful. Every 30min you can attend some kind of ritual or “show” in different sauna zones. Sauna Terrasse is also big, sunny with outstanding views. We got Experience Package. With Full-Body scrub and Full-Body Relaxing massage. We really enjoyed our day there. Phones are not allowed inside - so, no pictures:)

Gorgeous spa! We spent more than $200 for our family of 4 to have all day access to bit the hot spa waters and the water park next door. The spa area is beautiful with incredible views of the lake. The water park facility (LIDO) is great for families and includes access to the lake. I recommend buying the combo ticket that includes all of the above if you have kids with you. Otherwise, just do the natural saline spa area!

We came to Locarno specially to visit Termali. We loved the pictures online and how it said it was inspired by the caves. We booked the private spa experience with mud wrap and massage. Everyone was really friendly. One of our masseuse didn't speak English but the other one did and did well to communicate with us. I loved the little pools. As someone who has autism and ADHD, and struggles with sensory issues, I found the spa very relaxing. I loved the low lighting and the different pool areas with different temperature water. It was clear how the area was inspired by the caves. Loved this. We went on a Saturday but it wasn't very busy. Would definitely come again and book a suite. Everyone was so welcoming. EDIT: in response to the owner, I have removed the image I took from the phone/WiFi part of the spa where it did not mention that phones were not to be used. The other photos were taken in the private spa suite where there were no other guests visible. We were not informed that we couldn't take photos in the suite as it was a private suite.

A relaxing experience..what i did not love is the troubles with tickets to Lido. I bought co.bined ticket to slides, Lido and spa and sauna, and twice(!).I had to come back because my tickets did not work, first to the slides, than to Lido. Would be good if this gets fixed, while it did get sorted out on my visit, it spoiled the impression quite a bit - once you prepay for every entrance the main expectation is that it would work.

So...where I can start : I think will be nice spend little bit time here and take rest after long drive. 5 Stars I give to reception desk, because its really friendly. But after ..... on spa side outside its not enough place for people for relax. bedchairs...chairs... Staff which is responsible for look if everything has just intrested like security guard in prison looks behind the door just WHO USE THE PHONE ! sorry, but my feeling was totally down..... and if I saw how this people coming to customer and want say something about phone-totally unprofessional. Without english or german and angry to customer. But the best is area where you can eat or drink something... you pay expensive entrace and this area is totally dirty. Nobody clean, people move all stuff from previous customers, put on the floor, because they dont have place to eat or drink. Prices in ,, buffet ,, are extrem! Staff totally unfriendly and unprofessional. If you order something they make so look on you and if I ask something I get tottaly angry answer in Italy lang. I live 12 years in Switzerland but I never had experience like this....

Perfect ambiance, professional and kind waiters, quality food for sure. Only point is that the Impossible Burger could have more flavor. Maybe a sauce that gives the burger some more taste would be perfect. That’s the only feedback we would like to give. We have had a perfect evening. Thank you !

We came at the BLU fewer times, nice, cosy, and modern environment. In the Sommer the outside terrace is really nice. The restaurant is quite big but the team is present and the service is ensured. Despite the restaurants has Customers all year long the sushi is not available every day, the rest of the menu is a traditional Italian, some dishes are well prepared and some less despite those recipes are not complex. Our pasta was soaked in a medium/low quality oil as an example. The sushi quality is better, especially the appetizers.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had. From the moment we entered the building Dimitri & the rest of the team provided incredible service. They were all so polite, professional & kind throughout our dinner. Honestly if pressed it would be hard to say if it was the food or service that made for such a wonderful experience. This was one of the best food experiences I’ve had. Super delicious food and everything reasonably priced. We paid about 170 chf per person including the matching wines for four courses. A nice experience was the Apero menu were we could get some very small dishes while choosing the menu of the day. The staff was also super attentive but to a little degree too much because we were the only guests in the restaurant but I think this is personal preference. We had some lobster claws with broccoli cream and a small piece of pork with smoked potatoemousse as a apero. Followed by a veal tartare and then a egg with a salsola soda salad. Both starters were absolutely delicious. The two main courses were some ravioli filled with pumpkin and sultanas with some bacon and pecorinofondue and pear gelee. The second main dish was a veal steak with tartufo polenta and another cheese fondue. Dessert was a tart tatin which was matched with salted caramel cream and an excellent dessert wine.

Beautiful show. Kids really enjoyed it. Birds are flying very close, sometimes next to you. If you want to get a chance that they put a bird on you - wear a cap. And be ready to take pictures - it is just few seconds. Kids can ride a pony after the show.

Sweet-little green refuge with a great educational demonstration (about an hour; language: Italian/German), and with heart for the animals and very friendly demonstrators. Admission fee? - comparable to a cinema ticket (swiss standard). Know the difference: It‘s not a zoo, it‘s a falconry.

Amazing show. Learned a lot about the history of falconry, and enjoyed the birds from a very near distance (had one even on my head). Highly recommended half day trip! Also, the pizza in the bistro tasted fantastic and was very reasonably priced.

A beautiful show of various birds of prey flying within inches of the audience. It was entertaining as well as educational. It is clear that the handlers/trainers love these animals very much. If you'd like to see birds of prey flying up close this is a great place for that experience. If seeing animals in captivity is something that triggers you, then you may consider not going.

An absolute gem! 🌺🌺🌺The Camellia Park in Locarno is pure delight — such a stunning variety of camellias, it’s like walking through a living encyclopedia of beauty. Peaceful, well-kept, and full of color. Perfect for a slow stroll, a moment of reflection, or simply soaking in the charm. A must-visit if you’re in the area!🫶🥰

Good to see it once, but in my opinion, it is not something I would miss. Morge’s tulips show is much better and free. Here you pay 10 chf pp.

A beautiful and peaceful park by the lake, perfect for walking and relaxing in nature. The scenery is stunning, with flowers and trees adding extra charm. Great spot for families or anyone seeking a quiet and relaxing time away from the noise.

Even for this time of year (Late February) quite a few were blooming, or even bloomed out. The yellow must be later, but the variegated red/white were stunning.

Visiting here is a lovely way to spend an hour. It's right on the lake, and if you time it correctly, many flowers will be out.

Takeout Restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Isola Greca, a takeout restaurant, deserves a high rating for its delectable cuisine. However, there are a few aspects to consider. The delivery service provided by Eat was punctual, but the driver failed to ring the doorbell and instead called for directions, resulting in a missed connection. Furthermore, the food arrived over 30 minutes late due to other deliveries being made simultaneously.
The blokes at Isola Greca are legends—so friendly! The food is awesome and the prices are great. Best meat we've had in a long time. Let them guide you; you can’t go wrong. I'm devastated I didn’t take a photo, it was too good. Delicious food, we’ll be back for sure!
Luke — Google review
400g of meat, about 300 of fries, 2 pitas and a lot of greek sauce for only 20 euros in Locarno is amazing. You can't even get 250g of plain risotto for 20 euros here. On top of that the service was super friendly and the food delicious
Scirip — Google review
Ordered over the counter pita with fries and tzatsiki - it was fabulous. Service was friendly and great. I did not taste such good pita while in Greece. Compliments to the place - will come back :) P.S. They do not take credit cards so have cash or use Twint.

Good food and insane value. Would definitely order here again.

Food deserves a 5 but there are a few things to consider. I did a delivery through eat, they were on time but didn’t ring my door, they called me and we missed each other. Food was delivered with +30min in the car delivering other dinners. Since they are not specific on what they offer Mix Isolda greca which was delicious, comes with pommes frites and Tzaziki, not knowing it I ended up with two frites and tzaziki 🧅 Pommes comes with a ‘sauce’ the sauce is not specified and is on top, not on the side. It was ketchup and I happen to be a mayonnaise person. Grr 😠 Delivery guy was really kind, so I will ignore the fact that he didn’t read my instructions for delivery

Ristorante Easy is a casual dining spot located by Lake Maggiore, offering wood-fired pizzas, homemade pastas, seafood, and meat dishes. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere with a large terrace overlooking the lake where guests can socialize and enjoy life. Whether you're craving homemade pasta, gelato, wood-fired pizza or burgers, Ristorante Easy has it all. Visitors have praised the delicious pizzas and excellent service at this cozy establishment.
The food was very tasty. A little bit expensive, but really tasty. The staff was very pleasant despite high occupancy and served us courteously. If you are lucky, you can enjoy live music on the lake! Enjoy.

The location is great as it is in front of the lake, and the ambiance of the restaurant is very characteristic, cosy and warm. They have a very nice menu and great pizzas and the personnel is extremely professional, friendly and welcoming. The espresso is lovely, as well!
M P — Google review
The food was excellent. Everything tasted really good. The pizza has a thin crust, meat was on point and you can find some really special antipasti. The location is cool and the music was nice. They just need some more staff, so that they can handle a busy evening a little bit quicker.
Simon R — Google review
I ate here with my boyfriend, the atmosphere is relaxing and cozy even with a full house. The food was truly excellent, the best burger I had in quite some time, bun was very good quality Brioche style, the meat was tasty and perfectly cooked. The restaurant was busy but the food arrived very hot and in not so much time, compliments to the chef. Also the staff was very friendly and efficient, we had to wait 10 min when we arrived (was peak time on Friday night) but then our table was ready quickly, communication was great. Also we were sitting near the pizzaiolo, the pizzas coming straight out of the wood-fire oven looked so good... I'm definitely coming back to try one 🙂
Claudia L — Google review
We have eaten here 3 times in 3 days; pizza, salt encrusted branzino and pasta. All were delicious! Last night it started to rain and the waiter, Marco, encouraged us to move inside instead of leaving. He was fantastic! Prompt friendly service and wonderful atmosphere both inside and out.
Deborah W — Google review
I had the bruschetta and Pizza Diavola. Both were good quality and tasty. I prefer the Diavola a little more spicy so I had to order more peppers and bruschetta needed more garlic, but was still good. Location is of course really good.
Andre G — Google review
While walking around and deciding for a restaurant to eat, we choose this one. And we were not disappointed. Unfortunately we were a bit late since it's Sunday and we took the day as it goes and chilled the whole day. So we had "lunch" at about 3pm and unfortunately there were only the "small card" available but it was fine for us. We both had pizza and they were delicious! Like so delicious I would drive 3h to eat this pizza again. It was my first time here but definitely not my last time. :)

Dams
Nestled in the stunning Valle Verzasca, the Verzasca Dam is a breathtaking sight that stands at an impressive height of 220 meters. This iconic structure gained fame as the backdrop for a thrilling bungee jump scene in the James Bond film 'GoldenEye,' where Pierce Brosnan took a daring leap into adventure. Visitors can experience this adrenaline rush themselves by booking a bungee jump, making it an unforgettable way to channel your inner 007.
Spectacular views. They have bungee jump here if you are an adrenaline junkie and would like some thrill. Apparently the dam was a shooting place for various movies including one of the James Bond's film, Goldeneye. They have a shop and toilet nearby. Highly recommend.

An amazing place. We went by bus to save any parking issues. Nice wee cafe up there and also the famous 007 bungee jump. Great watching them dive off
Scott C — Google review
What a view! Makes your palms sweaty it's so high! Definitely worth a visit, the views are impressive. There's a bungee jump if you're feeling rather brave, if not stand back and watch someone else!

Diga Verzasca @Ticino 🇨🇭 📍 Verzasca Valley, Switzerland We passed by Diga Verzasca on the way to Sonogno, and the sight was unforgettable even from the roadside. Towering at 220 meters, this dam is one of the highest in Europe and famously featured in the James Bond film GoldenEye—known for the iconic bungee jump scene. Even without stopping long, the panoramic view of the valley and the turquoise Verzasca River flowing beneath was striking. The surrounding landscape is dramatic and awe-inspiring, making it worth pulling over for a quick photo or simply to admire the engineering marvel and natural beauty. 📝 Tip: If time permits, park nearby and walk along the dam. There’s an adrenaline-inducing bungee jump platform open seasonally for thrill-seekers. 💡 Highlights: • Famous James Bond filming location • Easy stop en route to Sonogno • Spectacular photo spot even without a long visit

Amit O — Google review
The Verzasca dam can be reached by car or bus, and the bungee jumping activity’s offered between April and October.

It's a great structure and it's great to be able to walk on top of it unrestricted. There is of course the possibility to do the 007 jumping from the top, but it's really expensive! Still, the views are great and worth the trip. For anyone fascinated by these types of structures, it's an attractive attraction.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful nature reserve. It's a great place for birdwatching, and the observation hut by the river is also very useful. It's somewhat disrupted at times by the many pedestrians and cyclists. The area is easily accessible. With a bit of luck, you might also spot kingfishers at the kingfisher pond; I would have liked to have had an observation hut there to photograph them. Otherwise, the rare birds were unfortunately absent, but we were there in October, and many of the birds are no longer there. We'll definitely be back.

Brissago Islands, located in Lake Maggiore, consist of two islands - San Pancrazio and Isolino. The former is renowned for its botanical garden housing over 1,700 plant species from different regions like the Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania. This lush oasis has been dubbed 'The Swiss Garden of Eden.' Visitors can take a short boat ride from Ascona to reach these islands.
Well-maintained island to stroll around idyllicly. The island is good to spend 1 to 2 hours. I spent 1 hour 20min here. Isole di Brissago is segregated into several parts with colorful flowers display and themes. I love the bamboo area with foggy mist, there is also a swing overseeing the lake nearby. Take note on the boat timings and plan your itinerary accordingly as there can be longer gaps for certain time of the day.

Beautiful, small island with a large botanical garden to roam in and relax. It's all mostly kept in great shape but it's definitely prettier around spring or summer than later in the year. Mountain peak
Monte Verità, also known as the 'Hill of Truth,' is a historic mountain in Locarno, Switzerland. Once a site for spiritual and cultural gatherings, it now houses a museum and teahouse. In the early 20th century, it was home to a utopian community advocating for a return to nature, vegetarianism, nudism, and theosophy. The Monte Verità Sanatorium welcomed anyone seeking rest in an unspoiled natural environment.
Hotel is located close to nature, with the main building in the middle of the forest, and it offers a beautiful view of the lake and valley down below. Ascona is located very close by, 10-15 minutes by foot, and there are hiking trails nearby the mountain. Monte Verita itself has several historical buildings and art that you can look at while walking the grounds, a museum, and its own tea plantation where they sell tea and their locally produced matcha gelato. Well worth a visit if in the region!

Stefania P — Google review
Nice grounds, nice staff, great views, not too far of a walk (but all stairs) to Ascona, comfortable beds and sheets, really new bathrooms, all quite eco-friendly, 24 hour reception, and very decent prices. It is basically the price/value, the views, and the good vibes that give this place five stars. It can be not so convenient to get to with the regular public transport, however, especially depending on the time of day you come.

We Love the place. Especially if you are lucky to have a high floor and a balcony with panoramic views. Most of the rooms don't gave AC. I understand the desire to stay nature friendly, but during the July heat wave , when the temperature was rising above 38C , it was quite challenging to have a proper night rest. The place is simple, almost rustic.

Very intriguing building, definitely worth looking at - inside an eclectic collection of expensive art pieces bought by a wealthy couple, some nice, but no apparent curation. Changing exhibition, the foundation seems to support local artists (which is admirable) 18CHF for a ticket is at least double than what it's worth, therefore 3 stars, as value for money in Switzerland is obviously an issue...

The Chicken Donburi and Sushi was amazing! Staff was very friendly, and the menu has a lot of options, with allergens clearly labeled. We will gladly come back!

Albergo Ristorante Cardada

Italian restaurant
The Albergo Ristorante Cardada, situated atop the cable car, offers a delightful terrace with an exquisite panorama and delectable cuisine. The staff is exceedingly amiable and the prices are reasonable. Adjacent to the terrace is a small playground, while a larger one awaits below for older children to relish. Although some may find their dishes rather salty and it's worth noting that Italian is the only language spoken here, the hotel rooms are reasonably priced at 50 per person.
Only stopped for coffee - but beautiful view, and really friendly family running it. They made our kids a znuni as stopped by at 9.30am (bread, butter and jam) then refused to let us pay for it.

In all honesty, seeing others who ordered food, and seemed unconvinced by the food served, I preferred to avoid it. I only had one drink. It seems to me that service is more a duty than a pleasure for these restaurants. Too bad.

It’s by far the worst restaurant in Switzerland. Do not visit it under any circumstances. The staff are unbelievably rude, unprofessional, and downright disrespectful. The service is terrible, the food tastes awful, and the whole experience is a complete disaster. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone — absolutely horrible in every possible way.
Roger A — Google review
Rude staff, if you are tourist. I ordered lasagna, waited quite long but it was cold inside, not freshly cooked, maybe reheated.

The food was great, when we finally got it. The service personell was unorganized. We had to wait for nearly 1 (!) hour to get our food (we ordered simple things, nothing fancy). The servers also felt unmotivated and not super friendly. We highly recommend the owners to add more personell! Instead of eating here, I recommend buying a picknick in Locarno and then eat at the panorama platform on top of Cimetta. That is what I should have done. The view on top is simply amazing (see photo).

Perfect place to stay the night before Via Alta Valle Maggia.

Unfortunately we've had to leave before received any drinks and food. First table was cleaned/disinfected after 10min of seating. Second, we (father and 2 kids) didn't get any drinks/food after 35min since order.

Nice terrace, great view, great food , very friendly staff and decent value. Located right at the top of the cable car with a little playground next to the terrace and a bigger playground down below where you can let slightly older kids loose.

Beautiful restaurant! The food is really delicious and the staff friendly. We are so happy that we found this place. With the beautiful decoration its perfect to enjoy the evening with some good food in there. Can recommend it!

Cute hotel with a lovely breakfast in a great location. We had the street side room #3 with balcony slightly noisy but quiet later at night. Nice to sit and watch the street. Basic room but the bed was nice and comfortable. Must try the restaurant for dinner next trip.

This review is for the restaurant. I have found a new favorite restaurant in the heart of Ascona! The chef was so nice, very accommodating with staff that truly cares. We had the filet, and it was worth every penny! She brings them in from the USA, then ages the meat. The veal was also amazing! The atmosphere is very romantic with the lanterns. You need to go late enough in the evening to enjoy them. Be sure to ask about the specials. They had roast chicken with rosemary that looked incredible when we were there! Be sure to make reservations. They do get busy.

We ate in the restaurant and it was so nice and delicious. The starters were good but the main course and dessert were amazing. We had the catch of the day (seabass) with vegetables and paperdelle with rabbit ragú. For dessert we had passion fruit parfait and almond brittle and classic tiramisu. The tiramisu was just out of this world, best we ever had. It was a la minute and sooo creamy. They also serve very good espresso and had a good wine menu. We sat outside in the patio with nice lighting and romantic music. Thank you again for the nice evening :-)

Super cute place to stay in Ascona! The place is nice and small, the staff is very kind and the food very good. They have a system for the buffet so it remains safe during the pandemic 💝

My partner and I had dinner at the restaurant and it was amazing. The food was really good, and the service was excellent. I just wish there was an option to leave a tip directly on the card reader when paying.

Visited "The Restaurant" for a romantic dinner with my partner and our expectations were fully met. The service was outstanding, the lake view was stunning, especially in the summer when it's most enjoyable. The cuisine was exceptional, with beautifully presented and generous portions. We received attentive service while enjoying remarkable food. The rooms provided great value for money and offered a picturesque lakeside vista.
Really great food and atmosphere. Very much a meat specialty. And the grilled meat is really really good. Also a very nice staff and all around friendly place. Would come back for sure!

The Osteria Ferriroli is an exceptional restaurant providing superb service, food and wine. Dining here is a truly remarkable experience. We've eaten at the restaurant several times in the past few weeks and every meal was perfect. Also, the patio seating area is covered with grape vines, which at the moment have a beautiful crop of Merlot grapes. Dining here is a memorable experience that should not be missed.

Probably the best steak I ever ate. Beautiful home-made pasta with freshly picked herbs. Stunning rosemary potatoes and vegetables served with the steak. Excellent place and wonderful staff making you feel at home! Make sure to visit this establishment.

On the Menu Card: only meat and vine. No other things, but people are eating food that is nowhere offered. Very confusing, and staff is telling us confusing things about what we ordered. Good meat (very smokey), but overpriced! Not really suitable for vegetarians. They should change their menu card!

DO NOT EAT HERE. I lack the words to explain how disgusting, aggressive and outright scary our experience was, but I'll try. We arrived at 1930 and the service was slow, but we are on holiday and they were busy so no problem. We ordered 4 dishes and wine. After a decent amount of time, the first two dishes at our table arrived, at this point a lady ( who we later learned was a demon masquerading as a server) came over and apologised for forgetting to add the other two dishes. We grumbled abit, but it happens and she promised it was on the grill now, fine. After an hour, reader an hour, a plate of meat arrived...lumps of fat and a few sad slices of meat which had perhaps sat on a radiator for a moment. At this point we'd had quite enough, we explained the meat was more fat than was fair and cold enough to be fairly considered gelato. We didn't want it. The waitress took the dish away without apology, our suspicions mounted. Unprompted a bill arrived for 150 francs. Reader what part of our culinary experience had accrued such a debt? We'd watched our guests awkwardly eat their meat as we looked on like vultures. Perplexed, we queried this. This is where the tale turns dark. The waitress got extremely angry, scary even, exclaiming that she would have to pay! She then began a sinister interrogation of our table, asking where we worked, could she have the address? we demanded she leave us alone, she refused and continued to berate us. I've never seen service like it. It completely freaked us out. Reader I kid you not, she came and stood atop the stairs and watched us leave like a mad gargoyle awaiting her next victim.
