Department Stores
Fribourg Centre is a prominent enclosed shopping mall located just a 3-minute walk away from the train station. The mall offers diverse retailers and casual eateries on its four levels, making it a convenient destination for all your shopping needs. Fribourg itself is one of the oldest towns in Switzerland, with a rich medieval history and beautiful Gothic architecture to explore.
Digitec Galaxus at Fribourg Centre is truly one of the most reliable and customer-friendly electronics stores I’ve ever visited. From the moment you walk in, the store feels clean, well-organized, and professionally run. The layout is simple and modern, making it easy to browse through products — whether you're looking for laptops, smartphones, headphones, or gaming gear. What really stands out is the customer service. The staff here are not only friendly but also extremely knowledgeable. They take the time to understand your needs and offer honest advice without any pressure to upsell. I had questions about upgrading my PC, and the assistant gave me clear comparisons between different components and even suggested budget-friendly alternatives — something I truly appreciated. The order pickup process is fast and efficient, and the app/online system is seamlessly connected to the store. I was able to reserve a product online in the morning and pick it up the same day without hassle. Also, returns and warranty support are handled very professionally, with quick solutions and a helpful attitude. Overall, I’ve always had a positive experience shopping here — whether I need expert advice, fast service, or just want to check out the latest tech. Digitec Galaxus Fribourg Centre is a must-visit for anyone in the region looking for quality electronics and dependable service.

I had a fantastic experience today at the Fribourg Shopping Center! The layout is spacious and easy to navigate, with a great mix of shops—from fashion and beauty to tech and gourmet food. Staff were friendly and helpful across the board, and the atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. I especially appreciated the clean facilities and convenient parking. Whether you’re shopping, grabbing a bite, or just browsing, it’s a top-notch destination in the heart of Fribourg.

Super place to shop for the Family, clothes and electronic Merchandise to grocery shopping. I lost my parking ticket and they take a picture of every car that enters the park house. With this picture, I had to enter my license plate no., the computer found my plate no. and only had to pay 5 Franks instead of 25 Franks for full day. Very good service.

Performing arts theater
Théâtre Equilibre is a small, circular theater in Fribourg that has become a contemporary symbol of the city. Its purist and minimalist form features a daring structure with opposite cantilevers, creating a spectacular and magical setting. The theater's impressive location near the Tinguely fountain makes it a must-visit landmark in Fribourg. With modern architecture and excellent acoustics, it serves as an exceptional venue for various events, including operas.
Information Office inside. They gave to me a map with a lot of information. The lady was very professional. You can find free toilets in the building
EL J — Google review
Haven't seen any performances here but the building itself is quite unique and cool I suppose - with it's boxy unorthodox architecture. Café and restrooms on location are standard. Loveliest of service and very clean. Interior itself is VERY spacious with areas to hang about etc but not quite fond of windows it seems. Hopefully will catch some sort of event here one day.
Alexander ( — Google review
Modern theater, nice accoustics. Went for an opera. Not enough staff at the bar during breaks. Not everyone could get a drink. Spotlights start to smell burnt after an hour of use. Noticed thus in two seperate shows

Artist Garden - Grand' Places, located in Gruyeres (La Gruyere), is a versatile destination offering more than just its famous cheese. Visitors can explore the medieval town's charming alleys and tour the impressive Gruyere Castle. The park provides a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city, where one can unwind and enjoy the fresh air.

The city has built a very ugly theater in the front of the park. Secondly, it's a very high drug consumption spot with alcoholic people. The need to be cleaned by the local authorities and a better police presence would be appreciated.

The traditional waitresses elegantly carry caquelons filled with aromatic cheese fondue, creating an enchanting atmosphere. This restaurant offers delicious specialties from the Fribourg region and is renowned for its savory and creamy house fondue.
My favorite fondue restaurant in Swiss. Service is great and we always have a good time there.

Perfection!!!! Amazing food, great presentation, high quality of ingredients, a cosy ambiance and good service. We came in a little late and still, they agreed to serve us. We had a salad that was to die for and the sauce was unforgettable. The moitie moitie fondue was REMARKABLE - great garnishes too. Fair price for the amount served, we didn’t even finish it all. About 22€ per person for the fondue. The wine was delicious and about 4€ the glass. You should eat here!!!

St-Nicolas Cathedral, also known as Cathedrale Saint-Nicolas, is a remarkable Gothic-style cathedral situated in the heart of Fribourg, Switzerland. Construction began in 1283 and continued for over two centuries, resulting in a captivating blend of architectural styles. The cathedral's facade boasts intricate sculptures and a stunning rose window. Inside, visitors can admire the Chapelle du Saint Sepulcre with its lifelike sculptural group depicting Christ's burial from 1433.
The Cathedral of St Nicholas represents three diferent periods of western art and architecture. The edifice of the building is from the Gothic period - as is the choir gate, the baptismal fonts, the pulpit, the cross, 'The Burial of Christ' and two sculptured portals. One of the famous Catholic Church..

St. Nicholas Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas) is an impressive Gothic cathedral and a symbol of the city of Fribourg in Switzerland. Its construction began in 1283 and was completed in the mid-15th century. It is especially famous for its bell tower, which stands 74 meters high. Inside, it features stunning stained glass windows, some of which were designed by the renowned artist Joseph Mehoffer. The cathedral is located in the heart of the historic city center and holds an important place in the cultural and religious life of the city.

A breathtaking spiritual and architectural experience. Visiting St-Nicolas Cathedral was one of the highlights of my time in Fribourg. The moment you step inside, you’re struck by the sheer beauty and grandeur of this incredible Gothic structure. The stained-glass windows are absolutely stunning — each one tells a story, with colors and details that catch the light in the most magical way. The play of sunlight through the glass fills the space with warmth and reverence. It’s a place that invites both quiet reflection and deep appreciation for art and craftsmanship. The organ is magnificent, and although I didn’t catch a live performance, I can only imagine how powerful it must sound echoing through the cathedral’s vast interior. Whether you’re religious or simply interested in history and architecture, this cathedral is a must-visit. There’s a sense of calm and sacredness that fills the air, and you can really feel the soul of Fribourg in this space. I highly recommend climbing the bell tower (if it’s open when you visit) — the panoramic views over the old town and surrounding countryside are unforgettable. A true treasure of Fribourg. Don’t miss it.

Good service, easy to find. Many paid parking space around the restaurant. In peak time, better to reserve first since they don’t have many tables and sometimes there is group who eat here. They have menu of the day with descent price and good taste. Outdoor there is terrace and smoking table. Toilet is upstairs, they have lift.

Amazing delicious food 😋 however, a little slow service. I really loved "Saison Salad with grilled goat-cheese on fougasse-slices" ❤️❤️❤️ Burger "Fougasse Deluxe with local beef, mountain cheese, onion, tomato " was delicious as well. A little too less pomfrittes for the Burger All in all it's a very good restaurant with good food. I also admit very friendly service. All open white wines are rather very dry. I suggest you offer at least fruity one. Thank you 😊 💓

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a renowned fast-food chain that offers grilled burgers, fries, and shakes. The restaurant has an impressive ambiance and provides exceptional customer service. The staff is well-trained and dedicated to ensuring a smooth dining experience for both travelers passing through Fribourg and the local residents who have developed a strong affinity for their American burger specialties. However, one recent experience with their special Gruyere Burger was underwhelming and not as flavorful as expected.
Alles gut! Open till very late!

NEVER use this Burger King if you are at a train transfer. They will never make it. I was there for 20 minutes and had to leave without food. Was waiting in line for 15 minutes. The touch screen never works so ordering takes long times to. This was the worst Burger King experience I ever had.
Dim D — Google review
First of all I had to wait about 25 minutes just for a simple King Deal. The Cheese & Bacon fries had ABSOLUTELY NO CHEESE. I payed 1.50 more for cold fries with a little bit of bacon. Then they don’t even give you a fork, just a little toothpick typa thing. (I ate with the hands since there was NO CHEESE to get my fingers dirty on) The Burger was cold, the meat hard, the cheese not melted, and even the bun was hard. I decided to give them a last chance with a Oreo King Fusion (I had no expectations and was still disappointed). The pieces tasted like basic milk chocolate pieces and it was only filled up till the half. NEVER GO TO THIS BURGER KING. Go to Bern. There you have more space, faster service, and better food!
Valo P — Google review
Often no ice. Meat extremely fat, sometimes with hard bits. Hygiene extremely poor, always full of flys.

I have never had the worst experience with a take away store like this in my life, the service is horrible. After ordering food for my family it arrived completly wet and trashed, the driver advised the employer to put the sandwishes separated from the drinks and they ignored him, the poor guy went back to the store to bring us new food and they said they couldnt do it, they could only do a refund but not give us new food. So we had to go somewhere else to eat dinner. We decided to call to make a complaint as soon as possible and when the lady answered and heard that I wanted to speak with the manager she hung up. Worts experience ever

Apparently the team leader / manager thinks that holding a team meeting in full view of hungry customers well after the time it should have opened is acceptable. Feel kind of bad for the staff. People keep trying to enter and can't. It's just awkward and a bad look. This was 20 mins after it should have opened doors. Anyways. Couldn't get food in time because of this as I had a train to catch. Choose your times for meetings better Mr Manager.

Schweizerhalle is an enchanting establishment in Fribourg that offers a delightful dining experience. The brunch served here is both delicious and reasonably priced, with impeccable service provided by the staff. According to patrons, the croissants are comparable to those found in France, adding to the restaurant's appeal. On Tuesday nights after 10pm, when limited options are available, Schweizerhalle remains open for drinks and terrines until midnight.
One of the friendliest waiters in town, they give you a welcoming vibe. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cosy and the walls are well decorated. The dishes were taken care of by a professional, the chef has an eye for details and this is also returning in the taste! A great experience!

Looking at the reviews I had high expectations. Unfortunately food was quite disappointing: meat of the burger had big hard pieces of fat, it was a bit dry. the pain perdu, we expected a soaked flavour full bread but it was also dry and came with one boiled egg instead of poached. Overall a very disappointing experience I would rate at 3

La Cène en un mot: divin! 5* + 1* (bonus) ❤ Update: 10 years la Cène. Happy birthday! The staff seems proud of this achievement and they should. It's only the second time I've been here but I really hope La Cène stays around for many more years because... it's just amazing. The best food I've ever had, even better than last time. You can literally see the chef and his crew put their passion into your plate, like artists. Impressive. And so is the rest of the team. Friendly, attentive, not some stiff people in monkey suits but just a kind, welcoming lady and gents. I have to admit that it's not a cheap place to go but I truly believe it's worth every Swiss franc. So if you want to celebrate something or you just want to treat yourself with fine food, then definitely try La Cène. By the way, ever heard of the concept of 'pre-dessert'? I let you experience for yourself. Update 14.10.2022 "La Chasse": Once more the chef and the whole team made sure we had a superb night. Service top and the culinary creations are just amazing. See you again soon!

We lunch at La Cene every couple of weeks and so far we have not found another restaurant to match it in either food or service. The set menus are well balanced, imaginative and well presented and the service impeccable. They always reserve our favorite table and remember our preferences. There is an excellent selection of wines by the glass, we usually ask for a recommendation to go with each course and it always pleases.

Stadium
The BCF Arena, an ice skating rink in Europe, has undergone significant changes from its old state to a new and improved facility called "bijoux." Accessing the venue is hassle-free, with pleasant views from the stands. The stadium itself is impressive, offering a delightful atmosphere. Despite these positives, there were long queues for food which proved discouraging after waiting for 20 minutes without progress. Additionally, finding parking around the arena can be challenging due to ongoing renovations.

The Museum of Art and History in Fribourg is a historical site that showcases locally created artwork and artifacts from the Middle Ages. Spread across three old buildings, the museum features a stunning garden adorned with monumental sculptures by notable artists like Saint Phalle, Luginbuhl, Ramseyer, Wiggli, and Angeloz.
Beautiful museum, it was a nice refuge from the rain
Emily C — Google review
The museum is split into 2 parts, with the first consisting of mainly religious sculptures and paintings (4 floors), and the second consisting of historical pieces and artefacts (3 floors). It is quite nicely laid out, and there is a map of the museum to guide you along. I found that information on the objects and each room itself was lacking. For people who don’t speak French or German, note that there are no English translations available. Overall a decent museum if you enjoy religious works and exploring the history of the area, but that didn’t interest me too much. I spent slightly more than an hour there.
Weiq — Google review
I'd give it five stars - it's a very decent and interesting museum of local art and history with a great collection of gothic sculpture, perhaps not always first grade but still remarkable. But what annoyed me immensely is the way many gothic sculptures were spoiled and disfigured by some kind of "modern art" action probably carried out quite long ago (there are stickers mentioning the year 2010, if I remember well). There are some ribbons wrapped around the figures, and also some plastic "hands" stuck in them. This is unacceptable, straightforward ugly, and should be immediately removed, also for conservation reasons. Have some respect for real art. Apart from that, the museum is worth visiting for its historic exhibition, a really impressive display of stained-glass windows dating back even to the 15th century, and also for its second part with a great display of stone sculptures, archeologic artefacts and above all great exhibition of Adèle d'Afry's sculptures. If you like visiting meticulously, reserve at least three hours. There is one more important shortcoming, however: there are detailed descriptions but only in German and French, no English. My French is good enough to understand most of the text nevertheless you should definitely add English which is the most universal.

A captivating collection of historical 'gems' in which you can emerse yourself.
LionHeart867 — Google review
Needless to mention the importance of this culture and heritage institution! It is one of the "must see places" in Fribourg. And reserve at least 2 hours only to glance through the different collections. I highly recommend it!
Rromir P — Google review
So much potential here being wasted. There are many interesting historical objects capable of building a detailed picture of the history of Fribourg... but the context of the collection is completely lacking. Information is all object-specific with many paragraphs of long-winded prose for each painting, sculpture, etc (French/German only). But nothing ties the pieces together. Unfortunately 15 minutes spent on the Fribourg Wikipedia page would provide a far more coherent idea of the cities past than any number of hours in this museum.
Hugh O — Google review
Everything was excellent except the exhibition on racism. It was very surface level and non-educational. Felt like it was designed for children. Rest of the museum was very interesting and good though

Musée Gutenberg is a museum housed in a 16th-century building, showcasing exhibits on printing, graphics, language, and bookbinding. Visitors praise its beautiful scenography and well-organized displays. Although it's not widely known, the museum is considered worth visiting. However, some note that the information is only available in French and German. The venue also hosts weddings and conferences. Overall, it's described as an interesting and informative place to visit.
Very nice and informativ museum
Merja J — Google review
Very disappointing museum. Exhibits not in chronological order and jumbled. Not much specifically dedicated to Gutenberg and his printing press. Inconsistencies and mistakes in the explanations and poor planning of the floors. The one good thing they had (an original page of the Gutenberg Bible) is poorly displayed in a badly illuminated attic with nothing telling you it’s there.

Capricciosa, an Italian restaurant, offers a pleasant and welcoming ambiance. The staff is amiable and the cuisine is delightful; however, some dishes containing tomato sauce were overly seasoned with salt. This might be an occasional oversight, as other menu options were exceptionally enjoyable. Overall, Capricciosa is a remarkable discovery that warrants a visit due to its exceptional quality and taste.
This Italian restaurant is so damn good! What a find. Come here, it's worth it.

Very tidy little restaurant close to the center of the city in a sheltered quieter part of the neighborhood. Makes very good pizza although I don't think it's made in a wood oven. The entrees are delicious for the most part and the place is great in general to relax on a family outing avoiding you the trouble of having to book an upscale restaurant. EDIT: while the above considerations are still true my opinion on management has changed. The owner is incredibly misogynistic and very selective with how he treats costumers. I've personally always had a good experience on family outings but then had terrible experiences when coming here with friends (especially women)

The food was very poor, my mushroom risotto had bacon, first I was told it was the recipe, then they admitted it was a mistake and offered to change the plate. My friend's Carbonara was very average, the bacon wasn't fried at all. We were 4 people and nobody was happy with the food.

Berne Bridge, also known as the Zaehringen Bridge, is a historic wooden bridge located in the charming old town of Fribourg, Switzerland. Originally dating back to the mid-13th century and reconstructed in the 1650s, it is the last covered bridge in Fribourg. The bridge spans over the Sarine river and offers a picturesque view of the city. Visitors can walk or drive across this beautiful structure while taking in its romantic atmosphere and capturing memorable photos.

It is not that close from the main station so if you decide to walk it might take you up to half an hour to get there. If you are on a time crunch, catch line 4 and get off the bus when you reach the stop called "Fribourg Palme" (10 mins approximately). The original bridge dates from mid-13th century. The one you see now dates from 1650's. It is the last covered bridge in Fribourg and it has a lot of traffic so pay attention and don't get too distracted taking pics!

Espace Jean Tinguely - Niki de Saint Phalle is a captivating museum located in an old tram depot in Fribourg. It showcases the remarkable paintings and sculptures of husband-and-wife artists, Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. Visitors can marvel at Jean Tinguely's sculptural machines and admire the bold creations of Niki de Saint Phalle. The museum offers a unique opportunity to witness the artistic collaboration between these two renowned artists.
The museum consists of 2 floors, with the first being animated sculptures. Do press the red buttons on the floor to see the animations, which are quite cool. The pieces here are not what you would usually find in a normal art museum, so the experience was quite refreshing. Note that the explanations were in French and German only, and the staff, though friendly, also spoke limited English. There were also lockers and hangars for bags and jackets. Overall an interesting place, good for about 45 mins to an hour.

We got served pretty fast by a young pretty lady, good wine selection and sweet desserts. Good views and okay prices. Didn’t try any food
Mario C — Google review
First I had to wait 20 minutes to get served. I thought why not try out a maroccan wine... it was a bad choice since the wine was kept open way too long (go for a Pinot Noir, it's definitely saver). Then I had to wait another 35 minutes to be able to order my food. And yet another 20 minutes 'til the food was served. The lamb cotlette was burnt and dry (basically like chewing on a dry leather shoe of a bygone era of the 1920's); the little platter in which it was served made it impossible to cut the meat. The 'Turkish Köfte' was also too dry and overcooked. The feta rolls were made of processed 'pâte' and was too thick compared to the amount of filling. I am terribly disappointed. With its former owner this place had a bad reputation. I was hoping that with the new owners this would change: I was mistaken. The lady who served me was polite and nice, but as I said: if you can even see her around... such a pity, since they have a wonderful terasse looking over the Sarine river. PS: waiting time to pay after finishing dinner approx. 40 minutes. Cheers!

Restaurant
The Café Restaurant Le Tunnel provides a welcoming ambiance and serves delicious meals made with locally-sourced ingredients. Despite being usually busy, the restaurant offered a pleasant atmosphere on this particular evening due to the public holiday resulting in fewer patrons. The cozy interior by the window, accompanied by rainy weather outside, created a comfortable setting for diners. Additionally, the restaurant is pet-friendly, allowing customers to enjoy their meal with their furry companions.
We just had dinner at this restaurant and it was perfect. Normally it looks busy, but tonight the atmosphere was perfect for us. It’s the public holiday so there were very few people there. Outside it was dark and rainy, so we were really cozy inside by the window with our dog. Yes they are per friendly. The food was incredible. I had a burger and it tasted fresh, my friend had the cordon bleu and he said it was amazing too, as well as the vegetables it came with. The server was really friendly. We couldn’t be happier!

Wonderful jazz evening! Check out their event program, they have some cool things going on. On the other hand, we were not impressed by the food though. Small portions, expensive and not especially tasty. I also had a gin as a aperitif, too little quantity to justify it's price. Will definitely return for the events, but not for dinner.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant des Trois Tours, located in a picturesque setting with a stunning view of Fribourg's medieval old city, is the brainchild of chef Alain Bachler. The restaurant prides itself on celebrating the best produce from the surrounding region and crafting dishes that are both skillfully prepared and imaginative. Guests can expect down-to-earth yet delightful surprises for their taste buds when they opt for the IDYLLE menu. The service is friendly and unpretentious, ensuring a comfortable dining experience.
An incredible experience I would repeat monthly if I lived nearby! The service is exceptional—Gerard is wonderfully attentive, always noticing the little details to make your visit special, and his warm smile makes you feel right at home. Igor, the sommelier, is a true wine expert, just ask, and he will find the perfect beverage pairing for your meal. The real star, though, is Chef Romain. His passion is evident, inspiring the entire team, and you can feel the strong, positive leadership in every detail. They truly deserve more than one Michelin star!

What an amazing evening! The restaurant is beautiful, with comfortable seating and lovely lighting at the tables. Every dish was a plate full of joy: the flavor, complexity, structure, and presentation were nothing short of perfection. I felt like a child on Christmas morning each time the new course was introduced. At times, the service felt a bit chaotic, and the wine pairing wasn’t quite as exciting. But honestly, with flavors like that, I’d give five stars even if I were dining in a parking lot. Can’t wait to come back!

Restaurant des Trois Tours should deserve more than one star Michelin. Their foods are really delicious and their plating is great! Service level is impeccable. Mr Guillaume has been so kind even gave us SF 11.60 for our bus fare to Cathedral. We only have Euro. Will surely come back next year.

Amazing food. The sweet bread, ravioli and the fish were out of this world. The local wines were amazing. It is absolutely one of the best restaurants I've ever been. The French chef is a real master off his trade. I recommend a hundred percent. If you are a gourmet, you will not regret coming here.

OMG! the best meal I have ever had! And I used to work with a Guide Michelin chef! We took te IDYLLE menu and every part was a fantastic surprise for both eyes and taste buds. The service is so friendly, fun and nice, not "stiff" at all, tables are spaced ut so one has total privacy, decor is lovely, the house itself gorgeous...I don't really know what to say. The hostess and the Maître d' are so kind, the latter with a sparkle in his eyes and makes jokes (if he feels you appreciate it...) and the Andorra waiter is THE BEST. We spent way too long there and nobody hurried us out.... NB don't miss the chef's prepared spices you can buy.... We will be back! And dom't miss out on the tailor-made, beautiful MOCKTAIL made by the chef to go with the meal!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants! Over the past ten years, we have never been disappointed. Impeccable service, great wine recommendations, and always outstanding food. The food is not only delicious, but also balanced, with reasonable enough portions that you never regret haven eaten there. Looking forward too hopefully many more years of delight!

Situated in the Schoenberg district, Le Raisin d'Or is a restaurant that takes you on a culinary journey through Asia. The food arrived promptly and was both delicious and satisfying. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and particularly accommodating towards customers with food allergies. The service was efficient, with meals being served on time. The portion sizes were generous, especially considering the price.
The food came to the table actually quick and was delicious, absolutely looking forward to visiting once again. Individuals who work here are extremely sweet and generally very helpful especially to my sis that has food allergies. Did not wait around long to be offered, meal showed up on time. Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Musée d'histoire naturelle. Not quite as popular as Espace Jean Tinguely - Niki de Saint Phalle, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

History Museums
The Natural History Museum is a popular venue that offers interactive exhibits, minerals, and a life-size preserved whale. Located in Fribourg's Old City, the museum provides an excellent learning experience for kids to explore earth sciences and biology through various exhibitions. Visitors can discover countless specimens of animals, plants, and minerals that showcase the planet's evolution. The museum features ten thematic rooms showcasing regional and global fauna, including a full dinosaur skeleton and other fascinating displays.
Very nice museum that you can visit for free. Beautiful botanical garden in back.
J B — Google review
The site is very interesting, with an incredible variety of non-living animals. You can see the skeletons of some of the animals, listen to the sounds made by the birds and see a giant whale which is very impressive. And there are lots of activities for children, all free of charge. :)
Carina P — Google review
Free museum located within the university grounds. The museum is on the first floor of the building, and has a fairly large range of exhibits, with a few of them alive. There are about 12 rooms in total, each with its own theme. Within each exhibit there are information panels in both French and German (but unfortunately no English), and some exhibits are also interactive. There is a small (temporary?) exhibition on the second floor as well. Overall a nice place if you’re in the area, but do note that it’s about a 20 minute walk from the station.
Weiq — Google review
An ideal place to spend an afternoon with children. I visit this museum frequently, perhaps 6-7 times a year to either see the permanent exhibition or the temporary ones. My children (8 and 6 years) have visited it so often, they know it almost by heart. The introduction of new technologies in providing additional context are very simple but very educational. I am particularly found of using the sound reproduction tools in the section dedicated to birds. The visits have enabled me to better know the wildlife in the region of Fribourg where I live, especially the birds of pray. There is also an iPhone app that provides additional content and it can bee downloaded for free.
Rromir P — Google review
Inspected with a great curiosity. Animals are amazingly exhibited. Can be visited for hours.

For such a smallish town the natural history museum was amazing ( I preferred it to the Bern one). There was so much to see and all very interesting. Went in on Fribourg City Card.

(Admission is free) Though smaller than most it is very in depth with what it does offer with a more in depth focus on birds more than anything else, with the botanical gardens right next door it really does make for a lovely day out. Certainly worth a visit for a day out! I did enjoy it!

Fribourg University Botanical Garden is a small but diverse garden that comes to life in spring, showcasing a wide variety of plants, including Swiss mountain plants and European relatives of quinoa. The greenhouses are impressive, and there's plenty of interesting information available. Visitors can relax on benches and enjoy the science behind the classification and characterization of the plant species. The garden also houses snakes, turtles, tritons, and owls.

La Maigrauge convent is a beautiful monastery with an exquisite church. The nuns are friendly and manage a small shop that offers a wide array of exceptional items like teas, jams, and specialty spirits, which are known to aid digestion. It is highly recommended to pay this place a visit as it is conveniently located within walking distance from the old town. Another highlight of the convent is the peaceful atmosphere created by the Sisters' melodic prayers sung multiple times throughout the day.

(Translated by Google) I read reviews about the friendly nuns and the warm welcome and decided to visit the abbey. I walked from the Loretta Chapel, apparently this is not the most successful path. The gates were open, there were cars parked in the yard, I was able to go into a small church, but the abbey itself was closed and no one answered my calls. This is how we got a “warm” welcome. October 2022.

Girls evening in the old down town of Fribourg we ordered the smallest gourmet menu on the terrasse. A very nice place with sight on the cathedral. It was just that the salmon was slightly overcooked, the beef plate came with no extra dish means the meat on Portocustard one or two tiny vegetables and nothing else since we've had already rice with the fish after the waiter.
