Nice homie café-bar-restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Food and drinks have good quality and price. The hosts Valeria and Antonio are very friendly. It is very much worth visiting, I recommend :)
Worth to see. In fact, as I could observe this funicular is not spectacular. It's just small and short ride really, but it's a must do in Fribourg. A bit of the history of the city as it connects the old town with the new. I also in another day climbed the stairs next to it, which is not that exhausting. The funicular itself is made of wood and is quite old, which makes it special for me. ****
The price is included in the day ticket. So we thought we should try it. It's travels very short distance. It's not spectacular but an ok experience. Anyways there is not many touristy thing to visit near fribourg city center, so it can be visited once.
Very good Greek food! This place is a mix between your local bar and your greek restaurant. But the food is good!
The teas are so fresh and organic. Kind and warm staff
The caviar from eggplant was excellent as well as the Pitarakia dessert
(Translated by Google) Reopened at the beginning of April 2025, I went to try the Funi steak. Just excellent with the homemade sauce. There is also the vegan version for those who don't want meat. Impeccable service, smiling sommelier and friendly boss. Lots of decoration around the history of the funicular and the Cardinal brewery. In short, to recommend.
Very mediocre food and rude manager or owner (bold grandpa), highly not recommend.

Started in 1283 & expanded until 1490, this cathedral has a famous bell tower & stained glass.

The Cathedral of St Nicholas represents three diferent periods of western art and architecture. The edifice of the building is from the Gothic period - as is the choir gate, the baptismal fonts, the pulpit, the cross, 'The Burial of Christ' and two sculptured portals. One of the famous Catholic Church..
St. Nicholas Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas) is an impressive Gothic cathedral and a symbol of the city of Fribourg in Switzerland. Its construction began in 1283 and was completed in the mid-15th century. It is especially famous for its bell tower, which stands 74 meters high. Inside, it features stunning stained glass windows, some of which were designed by the renowned artist Joseph Mehoffer. The cathedral is located in the heart of the historic city center and holds an important place in the cultural and religious life of the city.
A breathtaking spiritual and architectural experience. Visiting St-Nicolas Cathedral was one of the highlights of my time in Fribourg. The moment you step inside, you’re struck by the sheer beauty and grandeur of this incredible Gothic structure. The stained-glass windows are absolutely stunning — each one tells a story, with colors and details that catch the light in the most magical way. The play of sunlight through the glass fills the space with warmth and reverence. It’s a place that invites both quiet reflection and deep appreciation for art and craftsmanship. The organ is magnificent, and although I didn’t catch a live performance, I can only imagine how powerful it must sound echoing through the cathedral’s vast interior. Whether you’re religious or simply interested in history and architecture, this cathedral is a must-visit. There’s a sense of calm and sacredness that fills the air, and you can really feel the soul of Fribourg in this space. I highly recommend climbing the bell tower (if it’s open when you visit) — the panoramic views over the old town and surrounding countryside are unforgettable. A true treasure of Fribourg. Don’t miss it.
Beautiful church with peaceful pipe organ music, I especially love the stained glass windows. Going up the church for panoramic view: It's worth taking 365 steps of stairs up. Ticket price is Chf5 and available for purchase at tourist counter No.8 No wheel chair access. is at the tourist point No.8
A beautiful Roman Catholic cathedral built in the Gothic style, with many amazing Art Nouveau stained-glass windows. Free entry.
Beautiful. After viewing the church, be sure to climb the tower for spectacular views.
Amazing view! Pay 5 Fr. (student / child price available) at the cathedral shop next to the church and you will get a ticket to climb the stairs (368 steps 😬) at the left side of the church (another door).
Beautiful cathedral! The stained glass, relics, statues organ and more make this a great stop. They had great pamphlets available in multiple languages and really interesting history.

A great place for kids and adults, my little one was all excited. Big thank you to the people there who were really helpful and let my son go backstage. An unforgettable experience for him. Only bad point: entrance fee can be steep for a whole family.
Well explained, beautifully executed model. Difficult to reach, because quite off the beaten path. Plenty of free parking spots, half of which are covered / in shadows.
Watching the video which proceeds the visit of the maquette, catapulted me straight to my childhood. All the memories of spending hours and hours building our own model railway together with my grandfather. Only just that already made the visit worthwhile. Apart from that I can only say: impressive! I can't imagine how much effort went into building the Kaeserbergbahn from scratch (looking at their computerised system, I guess they've started building the railway way before digital controls became mainstream). Chemins de fer du Kaeserberg is definitely worth a visit for anyone who likes model trains as well as for families. It would be nice to see children gain more interest again in model trains. ❤
The timetable on Google maps is not accurate! We came all the way from Bulle to find the museum closed on a Wednesday. Their opening days are pretty random. I would call them before making your way there. (Update) The owner replied to my review. That's nice. Increase from 1 to 3 stars :-)
The mandatory movie was too long. Price CHF 18 quite high when the place was so small. Of course nice details with the train and cute place.
As much attention was put to the museum itself as to the tracks. Amazing !
Amazing experience. It is very well managed, and the attention to detail is really great. Unfortunately, the explanation was in French and German. As we speak only English. So hopefully they have in english as well om future.
Good museum with a lot of details. Super friendly staff. It was fun.

Simple old wooden bridge, but a beauty..and the old town of Fribour Switzerland a must for visitors
Incredibly constructed covered wooden bridge still strong enough to carry a city bus. Lovely to look at and fun to walk over as long as you stick well to the side. Note the roof construction as seen from beneath including all the shims to keep the roof tiles from sliding!
Beautiful area. Must see exclamation
The bridge and the area around it are worth a visit. Try the hop-on road train which takes in lots of hisoric points of interest.
Wood bridge over the Sarine river at the old town of Fribourg, a very charming and very well preserved middle age city with two languages speaking: French and German.
Beautiful point of view up to the city and wonderful bridge.
It is not that close from the main station so if you decide to walk it might take you up to half an hour to get there. If you are on a time crunch, catch line 4 and get off the bus when you reach the stop called "Fribourg Palme" (10 mins approximately). The original bridge dates from mid-13th century. The one you see now dates from 1650's. It is the last covered bridge in Fribourg and it has a lot of traffic so pay attention and don't get too distracted taking pics!
It is a beautiful scenary in a beautiful historic town of Fribourg.

Very nice museum that you can visit for free. Beautiful botanical garden in back.
The site is very interesting, with an incredible variety of non-living animals. You can see the skeletons of some of the animals, listen to the sounds made by the birds and see a giant whale which is very impressive. And there are lots of activities for children, all free of charge. :)
Free museum located within the university grounds. The museum is on the first floor of the building, and has a fairly large range of exhibits, with a few of them alive. There are about 12 rooms in total, each with its own theme. Within each exhibit there are information panels in both French and German (but unfortunately no English), and some exhibits are also interactive. There is a small (temporary?) exhibition on the second floor as well. Overall a nice place if you’re in the area, but do note that it’s about a 20 minute walk from the station.
An ideal place to spend an afternoon with children. I visit this museum frequently, perhaps 6-7 times a year to either see the permanent exhibition or the temporary ones. My children (8 and 6 years) have visited it so often, they know it almost by heart. The introduction of new technologies in providing additional context are very simple but very educational. I am particularly found of using the sound reproduction tools in the section dedicated to birds. The visits have enabled me to better know the wildlife in the region of Fribourg where I live, especially the birds of pray. There is also an iPhone app that provides additional content and it can bee downloaded for free.
Inspected with a great curiosity. Animals are amazingly exhibited. Can be visited for hours.
For such a smallish town the natural history museum was amazing ( I preferred it to the Bern one). There was so much to see and all very interesting. Went in on Fribourg City Card.
Very good place for Children's.
(Admission is free) Though smaller than most it is very in depth with what it does offer with a more in depth focus on birds more than anything else, with the botanical gardens right next door it really does make for a lovely day out. Certainly worth a visit for a day out! I did enjoy it!

The museum consists of 2 floors, with the first being animated sculptures. Do press the red buttons on the floor to see the animations, which are quite cool. The pieces here are not what you would usually find in a normal art museum, so the experience was quite refreshing. Note that the explanations were in French and German only, and the staff, though friendly, also spoke limited English. There were also lockers and hangars for bags and jackets. Overall an interesting place, good for about 45 mins to an hour.
Nice little museum that can be visited in less than one hour and that includes mechanical sculptures from Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. There is also a documentary to watch
Quite small exhibition but the art works have so much little details to discover.
Very beautiful artworks but it's so small it's not worth paying for😂
Take the time to admire the Tinguely sculptures (most of them animated). If you go with kids they will love it.
Very cool and interesting pieces. You can look at the main piece for an hour and still find something new
Very little to see. Most of the place was shut off with signs saying "new exhibition coming". But still full price entrance...

Digitec Galaxus at Fribourg Centre is truly one of the most reliable and customer-friendly electronics stores I’ve ever visited. From the moment you walk in, the store feels clean, well-organized, and professionally run. The layout is simple and modern, making it easy to browse through products — whether you're looking for laptops, smartphones, headphones, or gaming gear. What really stands out is the customer service. The staff here are not only friendly but also extremely knowledgeable. They take the time to understand your needs and offer honest advice without any pressure to upsell. I had questions about upgrading my PC, and the assistant gave me clear comparisons between different components and even suggested budget-friendly alternatives — something I truly appreciated. The order pickup process is fast and efficient, and the app/online system is seamlessly connected to the store. I was able to reserve a product online in the morning and pick it up the same day without hassle. Also, returns and warranty support are handled very professionally, with quick solutions and a helpful attitude. Overall, I’ve always had a positive experience shopping here — whether I need expert advice, fast service, or just want to check out the latest tech. Digitec Galaxus Fribourg Centre is a must-visit for anyone in the region looking for quality electronics and dependable service.
Fribourg Old city + Fribourg Centre = 😍 combo Too much food variety with so much Italian restaurants, French restaurants & Indian Restaurants etc. Have good food, Have joyful walk along side Sarine river..
I had a fantastic experience today at the Fribourg Shopping Center! The layout is spacious and easy to navigate, with a great mix of shops—from fashion and beauty to tech and gourmet food. Staff were friendly and helpful across the board, and the atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. I especially appreciated the clean facilities and convenient parking. Whether you’re shopping, grabbing a bite, or just browsing, it’s a top-notch destination in the heart of Fribourg.
It's nice but we were a little bit disappointment with this old town.
Very nice place to walk around, go to shopping and socialize as a university town
I was there in the manor shop the workers are very kind especially Soussana muke-up artist She's wonderful.Thank you so much :)
Nice place... Vibrant and all in one place market.
Super place to shop for the Family, clothes and electronic Merchandise to grocery shopping. I lost my parking ticket and they take a picture of every car that enters the park house. With this picture, I had to enter my license plate no., the computer found my plate no. and only had to pay 5 Franks instead of 25 Franks for full day. Very good service.

Very nice and informativ museum
Very disappointing museum. Exhibits not in chronological order and jumbled. Not much specifically dedicated to Gutenberg and his printing press. Inconsistencies and mistakes in the explanations and poor planning of the floors. The one good thing they had (an original page of the Gutenberg Bible) is poorly displayed in a badly illuminated attic with nothing telling you it’s there.
It was supposed to be open, but this sign was in the window ….
Interesting museum, well organized. Unfortunately, only in French and German (because of that only 4 stars). Friendly personal.
It's okay if you are interested in the history of the printer

(Translated by Google) The Middle Bridge is one of the five bridges in the Lower Town of Fribourg. It is preceded upstream by that of the Saint-Jean bridge and followed downstream by that of Berne. It was built in 1275 in the form of a covered wooden bridge. In 1720 the current bridge was built in masonry. At that time, it was closed with a door, which has now disappeared. Characteristic place in the center, which ideally separates the old town from the new. Medieval flavor and charm, in the purest Friborg style.
🇨🇭 Pont du Milieu is a historic bridge in Fribourg's Basse-Ville district, spanning the Sarine River. Originally built in 1275 as a wooden structure, it was replaced in 1720 by a four-arched stone bridge. The bridge measures 69 meters in length and 5.9 meters in width. As one of Fribourg's three historic bridges, Pont du Milieu has been recognized as a cultural property of national significance since 1995.

Beautiful museum, it was a nice refuge from the rain
The museum is split into 2 parts, with the first consisting of mainly religious sculptures and paintings (4 floors), and the second consisting of historical pieces and artefacts (3 floors). It is quite nicely laid out, and there is a map of the museum to guide you along. I found that information on the objects and each room itself was lacking. For people who don’t speak French or German, note that there are no English translations available. Overall a decent museum if you enjoy religious works and exploring the history of the area, but that didn’t interest me too much. I spent slightly more than an hour there.
I'd give it five stars - it's a very decent and interesting museum of local art and history with a great collection of gothic sculpture, perhaps not always first grade but still remarkable. But what annoyed me immensely is the way many gothic sculptures were spoiled and disfigured by some kind of "modern art" action probably carried out quite long ago (there are stickers mentioning the year 2010, if I remember well). There are some ribbons wrapped around the figures, and also some plastic "hands" stuck in them. This is unacceptable, straightforward ugly, and should be immediately removed, also for conservation reasons. Have some respect for real art. Apart from that, the museum is worth visiting for its historic exhibition, a really impressive display of stained-glass windows dating back even to the 15th century, and also for its second part with a great display of stone sculptures, archeologic artefacts and above all great exhibition of Adèle d'Afry's sculptures. If you like visiting meticulously, reserve at least three hours. There is one more important shortcoming, however: there are detailed descriptions but only in German and French, no English. My French is good enough to understand most of the text nevertheless you should definitely add English which is the most universal.
A captivating collection of historical 'gems' in which you can emerse yourself.
Needless to mention the importance of this culture and heritage institution! It is one of the "must see places" in Fribourg. And reserve at least 2 hours only to glance through the different collections. I highly recommend it!
So much potential here being wasted. There are many interesting historical objects capable of building a detailed picture of the history of Fribourg... but the context of the collection is completely lacking. Information is all object-specific with many paragraphs of long-winded prose for each painting, sculpture, etc (French/German only). But nothing ties the pieces together. Unfortunately 15 minutes spent on the Fribourg Wikipedia page would provide a far more coherent idea of the cities past than any number of hours in this museum.
Everything was excellent except the exhibition on racism. It was very surface level and non-educational. Felt like it was designed for children. Rest of the museum was very interesting and good though

The host is a passionnante guy who perpetuates as a hobby the past of his family sewing machines former business... and there are much more remarkable items, forgotten testimonies of patrician daily lives, to discover with him. It is a must see in Fribourg area especially if you love objects of the late 18 00's/19 00's. It's surprisingly entertaining, especially many of the smaller objects—who would have thought that a pig's bladder was once used as a soccer ball? The historical facts, explained in such a friendly and passionate manner by the director, leave a lasting impression. There are many other interesting objects waiting to be discovered by visitors. It's best to plan at least an hour to explore everything at your leisure.

Science inside: everything is classified and characterised. Many species are well familiar, others quite unknown. You can see the european relatives of quinoa!
Very beautiful park/garden, worth a visit, interesting history, originally created for the medical students of the University of Fribourg, now a public park with interesting plants, well explained
Very small botanical garden (compared to Kyiv for example) with tiny areas for each of the plant species presented here. There are a few benches so you can sit and relax for some time.
This garden really came to life in spring. It's not big but there is a great diversity of plants, especially swiss mountain plants and impressive greenhouses too. Lots of interesting information and, above all, a great place to have lunch.
Interesting but i went there w kids for work and there was people smoking pot. Not a godd image for the spot
A really enjoyable and big botanical garden offering a lot of good information on hundreds of plants.
Small garden but with a lot of benches and free entrance. Nice if you're already near by.
It is small, but very lovely place to visite. You can see very diffrent plant species.
