Gardens
Giardini Botanici di Villa Taranto is a seasonal garden located by the lakeside, established in the 1930s by a Scottish expatriate. It boasts a diverse collection of flora from around the world, including over 20,000 species such as the giant Victoria water lily and metasequoia glyptostroboides.
Small wait on a Sunday morning getting tickets ahead prevents this. We visited for 3 hours. I in cluded a map of the gardens. Magnificent horticultural planning around every bend in the path is a new view. There are plants for every season. There were benches for resting, so we could have easily spent several more hours had we packed a sandwich, There were 2 bars, so we could have also purchased lunch. Lovely day! Will definitely return to see the changes for each season.

Superb gardens easily accessible by road or boat. Beautiful features, architectural specimens and an abundance of colour throughout. A good couple of hours plus a lovely cafe on site
Jenny C — Google review
Giardini Botanici di Villa Taranto is a beautiful and well-maintained garden by Lake Maggiore. The huge variety of plants, well-marked paths, and stunning views make walking here a real pleasure. You can easily spend several hours enjoying it. The only downside is the rather high prices at the café and entrance. Despite that, it's definitely worth a visit.
Marcin B — Google review
Stunning gardens - some of the best maintained gardens in Italy. Came on a sunny afternoon and managed to avoid the crowds. The staff let us in before the palace and gardens closed… so we were some of the last in and got to enjoy it at our own pace. Great for beautiful photographs! And if you’re into gardening - there’s much for you to enjoy here too. Cost us about £20 to see all the gardens and the palace and I’d say it was worth it.
Kitty N — Google review
Gorgeous gardens with a wide variety of flowers, plants and trees and architectural features. Easy to follow signage for a self-guided tour. Definitely worth a walk through if you’re in the area.
Lee P — Google review
Gorgeous garden with beautiful flowers and a nice view. Gets crowded quickly during the day, but we arrived before 10 and it was almost empty. They allow dogs inside which is super nice. Make sure to walk in order of the numbers to avoid walking up the steep serpentines.

La Casera is a gourmet destination in Intra, Italy, founded by Eros Buratti. What started as a family shop has evolved into a haven for food enthusiasts. The establishment offers an array of high-quality products and experiences, including guided cheese tastings and an extensive selection of wines. Visitors can indulge in delicacies such as crostino with prosciutto cotto, raclette, and panini with toma and pistachio pesto.
Excellent place, with friendly and helpful staff. You can really see that everyone loves them and the owners also love doing it. High quality foods and wines, great atmosphere.

Domi R — Google review
We visited La Casera Market and Restaurant in Verbania with our family, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere is cozy, elegant, and filled with the inviting aroma of high-quality local products. We started in the market area, which is a paradise for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian flavors. The selection of cheeses, cured meats, wines, and gourmet specialties is outstanding — all sourced locally and carefully chosen. The staff took the time to explain the different products and even offered us tastings. You can feel their passion for what they do. Then we moved to the restaurant, where the experience got even better. Every dish we ordered was a perfect blend of tradition and creativity, made with fresh ingredients and presented with great attention to detail. The flavors were incredible — rich, balanced, and full of character. You can tell the chefs truly care about their craft. La Casera is not just a restaurant or a shop; it’s a place where you feel the heart of the region — its flavors, its people, and its culture. We left with full hearts, happy stomachs, and bags full of delicious local products to take home. We can’t wait to come back. Absolutely recommended to anyone visiting Verbania!
ROMAN G — Google review
Nice place to have a glass of wine and eat some local, good quality charcuterie and cheese. The restaurant is centrally located, some tables have a nice view on the lake. Reasonable prices given the top quality of ingredients and wines. Minus points for the wait which was very long. One hour passed between our arrival and the moment we were served our food. Skip this place if you are in a rush.

Lungolago di Pallanza is a charming place along the shoreside of Lake Maggiore. I like it a little less than other more picturesque towns in the regions but it is still nice! The promenade is full of cafes, gardens and beautiful viewpoints! Perfect for a leisurely stroll!

Lungolago di Stresa, a 2km-long lakeside promenade on Lake Maggiore, offers a picturesque stroll through lush gardens and elegant Liberty-style hotels. The path provides stunning views of the lake and historic Art Nouveau residences. Along the way, there are charming coffee shops and public toilets for convenience. Nestled in the heart of Stresa, the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees is a stunning example of Art Nouveau elegance that transports guests to a bygone era of luxury. With its lavishly appointed rooms and breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore, this hotel epitomizes old-world charm. Guests can indulge in an array of top-notch amenities, including three inviting pools, a rejuvenating spa, and an upscale restaurant and bar that promises culinary delights.
A very cool hotel, built in old traditions. The interior and exterior are incredibly beautiful, with original paintings on the walls, old furniture, swirls, and tapestries. Awesome spa with a hot tub and the opportunity to swim outside. Super location. If anyone's interested, there's a helipad across from the hotel. The hotel has its own private park.
Eugen V — Google review
The property is undoubtedly beautiful—historic charm, elegant grounds, and a premium location. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and amenities during our stay. Unfortunately, our experience was impacted by the non-functioning air conditioning in our room. Despite calling the reception multiple times and receiving repeated promises that someone would come to fix it, no one showed up and the issue was never resolved. For a hotel of this caliber, we expected much better responsiveness to guest concerns. We hope management addresses this, as everything else about the stay was memorable.
Abdulla A — Google review
The hotel was very fancy and high-end. It did seem to be over the top. There was not enough desk space to set the suitcases, so they weren't in the way. Mounting the TV on the wall would help. The breakfast was top-notch. We were put in the farthest room from the elevator. We're older and didn't need that. We had a window that opened to the pool roof not the lake. We as Americans like our ice. Going to the bar each time I wanted ice was a pain. Put an ice machine on a floor and put us all on it. Give us ice buckets so the ice doesn't melt in 30 minutes. Put a soda machine on the same floor. The hotel was located a LONG way from downtown. Our feet were sore after the walk.

I recently spent two wonderful nights at the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées & Spa in Stresa for a reunion of friends, and we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate together. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality of the Mariani family—who have been running hotels in Stresa for three generations—made us feel genuinely welcome. Their warmth and personal touch gave our stay a sense of home within the grandeur of this historic property. The hotel itself feels like stepping back in time into the golden age of travel. Every corner tells a story, from the magnificent architecture and elegant interiors to the manicured gardens overlooking the lake. My room was spacious and beautifully appointed, with breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore—a view I will not soon forget. The restaurant was a highlight in itself, serving exquisite cuisine in a refined yet relaxed atmosphere. Every meal was a delight, reflecting both the region’s rich culinary tradition and the chef’s creativity. In every respect, this was a memorable stay that blended timeless elegance, exceptional hospitality, and heartfelt warmth. The Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées & Spa is a true treasure, and I look forward to returning one day.
Henri R — Google review
Very disappointed by the customer service in this hotel. Yes it is beautiful and the rooms generous and well maintained but we did not feel valued or welcome. The breakfast staff stand in groups gossiping and mainly ignore the guests and the breakfast on offer was not high standard. If you wanted a fried or poached egg or omelette there was an extra charge. My husband was also refused entry to the restaurant because he was in shorts on a day when the temperature was 30 degrees! No pool side service either. We will not be returning.
Janette C — Google review
This hotel is amazing! From the moment I checked in, I fell in love with the gorgeous decor, comfort of our room, and the spa is maybe the best I've ever visited. Take breakfast on the patio for a retro Hollywood moment and visit the Hemingway bar when the piano player is tinkling the ivories to transport yourself to a true classic grand hotel experience. Treat yourself; you are worth it!
Ellen O — Google review
Staying here feels like being in an Art Museum. For some Europeans, the decor may seem bit over the top, as you don't know what to look at first, but it certainly works for Americans, 😉 The Hemingway Suite is definitely an experience. Lots of history to be found in this Grand Hotel. Would definitely stay here again.
Hęïdî S — Google review
I loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again. The hotel was spotless. It is absolutely gorgeous. The food in the bistro and at dinner in the hotel was excellent. The servers was very good, and the concierge was very helpful and friendly. I couldn't change the battery in my air tag and I think it was Felice that helped me with that. The setting is one of the most beautiful in all my travels right across from the lake with the most awesome entrance and the grounds are exquisite with the foliage. Loved the indoor/outdoor pool. Swam every day in it. Ate lunch at bistro everyday. Had breakfast outside on the terrace of the restaurant daily. The hotel is about 2 blocks from the town and also the dock to get the boat to the islands. Just sitting and looking out at the Lake is an experience in itself. When (not if) I come to Stresa again, I will definitely be staying here. (I would get a bigger room, the room was small for 2 people)

Santa Caterina del Sasso is a 14th-century Catholic monastery situated above Lake Maggiore. Accessible by stairs, an elevator, or boat, this hermitage offers spectacular views of the lake. Legend has it that the hermitage was founded when a local merchant prayed to Saint Caterina during a storm in 1170. The area also offers hiking trails and mountain resorts such as Sasso del Ferro with its old cableway providing stunning panoramic views.
The most beautiful spot in lake Maggiore. It takes a bit of time to get there from stressa but it's so incredible that it certainly justified the effort. Plenty of parking. Lift to go up and down lake level. The ferry boat is below. Toilets. Ticket for the hermit pays off and it is a living religious place that has been growing over the centuries
Georginamgo — Google review
The visit of santa Caterina was a bit underwhelming for me, but with great views. Boat tickets were fairly cheap circa 7€ adult and 5€ senior. The boat trip was 5-10 minutes and the boats depart pretty often with clearly stated times. Unfortunately we forgot to establish our returning time and closely missed our trip back to Stresa and there was a lunch break and we had to wait for the next boat for 2 hours. Overall, great, just plan when you want to board.
Michal Ž — Google review
Not worth the 5€ honestly. There's nothing to see except the beautiful panorama which should be free anyway. If you want to take the elevator back up and not do the 100 stairs, you need to pay extra and if you arrived at the elevator, since the machine that sells the tickets is broken, you have to go back to the church and buy from the lady in the shop. This really annoyed us, so we took the stairs.
Anca A — Google review
We drove there. They have a huge free parking. You have 200 something stone stairs to the monastery . Very well maintained and for people with disabilities there Is also an elevator available for a small fee. The place it's worth a visit for the location and the efforts of building and maintaining such a monastery built and carved in stone.
Sergiu A — Google review
Amazing place to visit. Enjoy the church and the story. There is an elevator to go up and down if you wish to use it. Only for 1 EUR.

During my visit to Verbania, I stumbled upon Bar Lift and was pleasantly surprised. This terrace offered an impressive setting with excellent beverages, delightful cuisine, and a fantastic waitress named Cetti. The location itself was breathtaking. I got the chance to enjoy some delicious cocktails, wine, and food options. For those who prefer cocktails, the woo woo comes highly recommended. This place truly embodied great value for money - not extraordinary but far from lackluster.
Actually the best food we have found it Italy so far during our travels. We had to wait for the lasagna for a long time while others foods were already finished. However the taste made it all okay. It was delishious! Cocktails great too. Thank you!

ANOTHER TOURIST TRAP Stuzzichini has to pay 1,50€ per person for servings. Just look on the photo what it looks like. Spending 6€ for Aperitivo and without getting any stuzzichini included is a big JOKE in Italy. Waitress said the crisps(patatine) was free ,but it didn’t arrived on our table . Nothing special at all . Its good that we tried this bar, but no coming back. Ps: Go inside for the Receipt Fiscale (tax receipt),since they only give you on the table the Preconto .

Located in a charming outdoor dining area with a unique atmosphere, Ristorante Pizzeria Bolongaro offers friendly service and reasonably priced meals. While the pizzas are not exceptional, they are delicious and larger than those of their competitors. The restaurant also serves other fabulous dishes. English-speaking staff members add to the overall experience. Despite the interior being less impressive, the food is excellent for its value, particularly the mouthwatering Pizza Salsicca at just 10 Euros.

The pizzas were good, but nothing special. I would not recommend the tiramisu as it was probably not home made. The staff was nice.

After a month of eating all through italy I finally found a bad meal. I blindly assumed they'd be good at seafood as its a big part of their menu. They're not. It was bland. So we're the fries. And the veges. And the salad was hilariously small (pic included). I hope they ditch the seafood and cook food they're good at.

Delicious pizza with a nice view into the lake. Very friendly and quick service! The only pity that they do not have a lot of vegetarian pasta options.

Our visit to Ristorante Pascale in Verbania was unfortunately disappointing. We had agreed for our civil ceremony with the family to dine outdoors in good weather and indoors in bad weather. The weather was excellent, but we were still forced to dine indoors. The head waiter was unfriendly and stubborn, showing no insight or flexibility with our request. The food met our expectations, but the service significantly marred our experience. We hope the service improves in the future.

The food is excellent, featuring dishes with high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. Situated by Pallanza's harbor, the restaurant provides an idyllic setting to savor Italian cuisine, including local fish and lamb dishes.
We have loved the meals, lakeside setting and been coming back to this historic family run restaurant for nearly 20 years. It seems like each year they produce food so divine , one cannot wait to return. We experienced five one Star Michelin Italian restaurants on this trip and considering the setting, wine selection, quality and detail of the food preparation at the Milano, we found the pricing very fair and worth every euro. Chef Agostino and his charming wife maintain everything in the restaurant to extend to you a 1st Class experience. We can hardly wait for our return in May 2024.

We had a prepared menu by the chef. I didn't eat thr first course because it was tomatoes and tuna. 2 things that are definitely not favorites of mine. Risotto was delicious if a little too al dented. Secondi was amazing and same with the dessert. Service was impeccable! View of the Lake was gorgeous and pleasant.
Jessica Q — Google review
The food was amazing! Unfortunately we had the worst table and it was basically used as a service table. The empty plates and the bottles of all the other tables were constantly put on our table, while the other tables were served. So we had half eaten seafood plates on our table while we ate our courses.. delicious food, but when i pay 500 Euros for 2 people i expect something better.

I encountered this gorgeous Michelin Restaurant on the way back and was taken for a tour to come back next time. Lucy is the most kind and friendly host, who was happy to show me around and give me a tour of this gorgeous place. Will definitely come back for dinner next time.

Luckily for us guests, this restaurant doesn’t have the hype of a Michelin star. Yet, the food easily competes with the very best. Combined with the outstanding service and atmosphere, Milano is unique and worth every visit.

MAGICAL! Everything from the food, the location, the service, it's truly a special spot in the world. You have to try the tasting menu because the array of flavors jump off the plate and make you wanting to try more and more! The sage shaved ice cream has so many unique flavors it makes you relish each bite.

a real gem! it's an easy walk, and took us about 10mins from the centre of stressa, and a reasonable entrance price. be warned the paths are steep but there's lots of benches to stop and rest! the animal park it's fun but it's the gardens and views that are the real attraction! worth it for them alone!

we just paid to visit the park which has free parking across the road. it was one of my best days while on holiday. I loved it. beautiful gardens with fantastic views of the lake. very well kept including the pet farm which idint just for children. I could of spent all day there. Nice card, playground, streams. Well worth a visit
Vicky N — Google review
It has big farm which allows you to pet goats and alpacas. The park is quite big and beautiful. There are many animals to see. Unfortunately some birds are kept in relatively small cages.
Irmak Ç — Google review
The park is absolutely stunning. I would recommend getting the leaflet so you can find your way around. There is lots to see and explore. Although costly, it is definitely worth to see.
Zoe R — Google review
Nice experience but we felt the price was a little steep (16eur per adult) for what was available. The chateau is shut for renovation and the animal displays looked like they needed some investment. 6/10 ok half a day out but too expensive for what is there. Also be warned it is all uphill
David G — Google review
If you have kids below 7-8 years old they will love it. The garden is beautiful. The farm is full of animals and many of them are free around you. There are several stunning views. The cafe' is nice and in the middle of a lovely garden. The playground is for small kids (I would say up to 4-5yo even if our son of 6yo enjoyed it).
Antonio C — Google review
Very beautiful park and nicely preserved and taken care of. The staff was nice and friendly and very caring and attentive to the animals. The only downside,is the size of the cages of some of the animals or the fact that they are alone in their establishments. There is this magnificent eagle, a huge bird and the cage is definitely not big enough for such a creature. And the poor zebra and the squirrel seemed very lonely.. But it's a beautiful park!!! 😅😂

Isola dei Pescatori, also known as Isola Superiore, is a charming small island in Lake Maggiore. It is home to a historic church, traditional fishermen's houses, restaurants, and gift shops. The island is part of the Borromean Islands and offers a picturesque setting for visitors to explore. Isola dei Pescatori is the only inhabited island among the Borromean Islands with around 25 families living there year-round, many of whom are fishermen.
Fantastic tiny island in Lake Maggiore. It's well worth a visit. OK, you can walk all around it in probably 45 minutes, but it's worth the visit to see the views of the other islands, and after you have walked around the outside, then venture into the inside with narrow streets and neat shops. Many places to eat and have a drink but would recommend "The New Bar" on the far side of the island You can either eat in the main restaurant set up above the shore or in their actual Lake side area. Good for main meals or just snacks.

Wonderful experience. Somewhat busy (last sunny day of the summer,l. A lot of walking though (you have to walk through the palace to get to the gardens). Oh, and you have to take a small boat (40 some people) to get there/back. Leave by 5 pm and get on/off the boat at the correct locations.

Isola dei Pescatori is a charming small island with narrow alleys, traditional houses, seafood restaurants, and little souvenir shops. The atmosphere is lively, but it can get very crowded with tourists, which makes it less peaceful. It’s worth visiting for a short walk and some nice photos, but not the best spot for relaxation.

Beautiful museum , art . There were two school students that made me tour . The entrance cost -8€ The tour with the girls was free. I enjoyed it very much If you like art, and want to escape a little bit of the heat outside you should come to visit this museum.

A charming gallery with famous sculptures from local artist and beautiful paintings of local scenes. The current Due Veronese sul Lago Maggiore, and the accompanying story are worth the admission alone. All of the explanations and labels are in both Italian and English. It was the first island that we went to in our day-trip. The weather was nice and the environment was really pleasant. The view was really nice and the air was fresh. It is a small island and it takes you little time to run through all the island. The gardens were pretty nice and the birds and peacocks gave a nice touch to it. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the palace, which was kind of meh (not that interesting). We later sat down and sunbathed while chit-chatting, a good company makes everything much better :)

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Patrizia for her extraordinary support. After purchasing tickets and being charged, I never received a confirmation email or QR code. It was a frustrating and stressful situation—until Patrizia stepped in. She went above and beyond to locate my booking in the system and retrieve the ticket for me. This kind of customer service is truly exceptional. Patrizia saved me time and unnecessary stress, and I’m incredibly thankful for her help. She is a true role model for what tourist and customer support should be like.

Isola Madre is absolutely stunning and worth visiting. It offers a peaceful atmosphere with its historic palace, beautiful gardens full of rare plants and Indian peacocks. Lovely island in the middle of lake Maggiore which is a perfect example of how humans and nature can live together. The palace itself it's a great example of the Italian baroque. While the garden showcases many varieties of exotic plants and flowers. One of the most impressive is the Japanese cypressum behind the villa. I really loved also the peacocks and the fagians strolling around the park and used to the human presence

A beautiful garden to visit. Enjoyed the birds, and the palace has some interesting rooms to see. But found it a bit overpriced vs. Isola Bella or Villa Taranto. A useful tip: come to visit by the closing hours, after 16h, so you avoid the crowds on the boats, and no waiting lines when you leave the island.

Osteria degli Specchi is a charming and unassuming eatery located in a tranquil setting. The cozy dining rooms and an 18th-century portico offer a homely atmosphere for savoring traditional Italian cuisine. The menu features delectable homemade pasta, meat, and fish dishes, including gnocchi alla boscaiola and brasato con polenta. The chef's passion for cooking shines through in every dish, while the friendly front-of-house staff adds to the warm ambiance.
Amazing little restaurant away from the touristic places. If you want amazing classic Italian dishes, go here. The place is run by 2 people and so you're lucky to get a table. But if you do, you won't regret it! I had the best carbonara of my life and we made a beautiful connection with the chef and his colleague. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fantastic food in an authentic courtyard environment. The pasta dishes were some of the best we had on our weeklong visit to northern Italy. Service was a little off - we were in a big group and they just forgot two people’s meals, then never checked in again. Still, food was good enough that I recommend checking it out if you’re in Palanza.

Nothing super fancy, but good food, generous portions with very fresh products, the pasta were tasty and firm! We had a very good lunch, would recommend

This was a great restaurant run by very nice people. Food was great and the person serving us was very helpful giving us suggestions for dishes and drinks. They also accommodated my out-of-menu request for a carbonara. Even the chef came to check if we were having a nice meal. Highly recommend. Don't forget to book, if you can. We were in two people. We ordered the oriechette (gorgonzola) and the carbonara. Two glasses of wine and water. Excellent.

This was a first meal in Italy and unfortunately we were disappointed. We had heard rave reviews about authentic Italian food and maybe our expectations were too high. The appetizers and cheese board were good but the lasagna was not. I've had better lasagna in the States.
Michelle S — Google review
Perfect food in perfect surrounding: original Italian food without any touristic touch. Pure and perfect. Note: you only get a table with reservation as it is a small restaurant where quality matters instead of quantity :-)
Sylvia A — Google review
Unfortunately, our experience was not positive from the very beginning. The service was quite slow, and the staff made us feel as though we were not welcome. When the food arrived, I ordered a lasagna that was extremely dry. I asked for some olive oil to go with the bread, and the chef responded rather rudely, questioning what I would use the oil for and saying, “this is not how we do it in Italy,” before reluctantly bringing it to the table. I understand that each place has its own customs, but politeness and hospitality are expected in any culture — especially in a restaurant that welcomes tourists.

Situated on the shores of Lungo Lago di Verbania Pallanza, Tacabutun Restaurant is a pizzeria and restaurant offering both indoor and outdoor seating options. With tables available on the street side as well as by the lakeside, this establishment provides a picturesque dining experience. The extensive menu features a wide range of pizzas, including both classic and gourmet varieties, alongside a selection of other restaurant dishes.
This is an excellent choice for a restaurant in this town. WE visited twice in one week and had some of the best pizza´s in the Lago Maggiore area. Some of the other plates we had with the family were equally very tasteful and with a superb price-quality ratio. Desserts : the same ! Service was fast and friendly. This is the restaurant I would recommend most in the Verbania-Baveno-Stresa region.

Restaurant on the lake side. This area seems really popular with few restaurants choices. Hence better to book before you go. We had a good diner here. Food was well prepared and tasty. We had tuna and sliced beef. What I felt however is that the services was slow and since there is a lot of people around they do not care to much - they know they will have customers. But the overall experience was great- so I do not think you go wrong with this restaurant.

A fine copy of Rome's Il Gesu. A classic example of mature baroque basilica based closely on the baroque archetype of Il Gesu. A single-nave basilica with a series of rectangular side chapels, and an elliptical cupola above the transept. Beautiful marble throughout the church is worth noting.

(Translated by Google) The temple of San Leonardo was built starting from the year 1535 and finished in the year 1590 on the remains of a previous oratory. The church is characterized by a sober façade, flanked by a high bell tower which was built in two phases. Work on the base of the bell tower began in 1520, when the previous oratory still existed, using stones deriving from the ancient castle of the Barbavara while the upper part dates back to the end of the 1600s. Overall, the bell tower is 65 meters high The internal structure of the church is divided into three naves, which close with polygonal apses and a dome in the middle. Inside there are valuable wooden sculptures such as the choir, the pulpit, the altar and the baptismal font. Also noteworthy are the seventeenth-century paintings and the organ, which is characterized by being the oldest in all of Verbania, built in 1797 by Eugenio Biroldi. Family dinner today. Very attentive service. Fast delivery. Portion size for money is excellent. Quality was excellent. Ordered red wine matching the cheese plate without setting a limit. Choice was middle.range but really nice. That's what I expect .giving me a really nice wine worth the money and not the most expensive one on the card. Card is small. No pizza. But the food is really really nice. Really nice experience. You should book at least a day in advance in busy times to sit outside. I am difficult. So 5 stars means something, I will definitely come back.

Food is ok but service is bad. We were sentes in a very hot part of the terrace, when some guests in a cooler placé left we asked the waitress if we could change table (we didnt start eating yet, Didnt even order) and while looking annoyed she said it’s reserved. Of course it wasnt, they didnt even clean that table and no customer came. Also she made a mistake in taking the order and i did tint receive what I ordered. Overall not nice staff, no smiles nothing, just the feeling that we are bothering them.

We cannot understand a single one of the negative reviews. This was the best meal on our holiday so far. The food was all excellent, all the dishes were tasty and well balanced. We had Goats cheese salad, bruschetta with burrata, ham and peaches, to start. Then ravioli and octopus taglioni. Located off the coast of Stresa in Italy, the Borromean Islands are a group of three picturesque islands: Isola Bella, Isole dei Pescatori, and Isole Madre. Once owned by the aristocratic Borromeo family, these islands boast candy-colored houses, charming restaurants, and breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. French poet Montesquieu even described them as the most beautiful place in the world.
Beautiful small island town. We were there around 1400 and everything was shut down, except for a hotel coffee shop which was delightful but make sure you are there at the correct time or you will be out of luck for food. The surroundings are gorgeous though !
Amelia D — Google review
The best island is Isola Bella with the palace and beautiful gardens on Lake Magiorei (sorry, I know I'm botching the spelling of that). The lake itself is nice to see and explore the many small towns around it - we walked around Stresa along the walk nearest the water and weren't disappointed. Would go back to both places again!
Paul K — Google review
We visited two of the islands: Pescatori and Isola Bella. We thought that it was too much to do 3 islands on a day and for sure this was the best choice since traveling with a kid. The boat trip to the islands is beautiful, at Pescatori we had lunch with a great view and Isola Bella is all about the beautiful palace and its gardens. The ticket costs 20 euro per adult, we thought it was worth it cause you get to see the inside of the palace and the gardens which on top have amazing views. Also the windows from the palace have beautiful views and it is stunningly decorated. Definitely a beautiful place to visit in Italy and shouldn't be missed if you are in the area.
Bruna F — Google review
Isola Bella is worth visiting! Definitely go to the palace and visit the Gardens . Id spend here most of the time. Isola dei pescatori has only shops and restaurants, but very cute. On the Isola Madre you cannot do anything if you don't buy a ticket to enter the house/Gardens and they don't tell you in advance. So either don't go or buy a combined ticket when you to to Isola bella.
Isa M — Google review
Do you research BEFORE taking the 3 island trip, we didn’t. There are salespeople around telling you the main large boat is €80 (that may be for 2 people, wasn’t clear) for the 3 island trip, when you can pay them €15 per person. What you need to be aware of is that Isola Bella and Isola Madre have gardens and buildings which you have to pay to enter. Prices are €23 and €20 respectively per person. This makes the trip €58 per person if you want to see the gardens. These take up most of the islands though on Bella you can access at least some restaurants, bars and shops whereas on Madre you have the option of one single restaurant and absolutely nowhere else to go if you don’t pay. There are also locked gates to keep you out. Felt the whole thing was a waste and total cash cow. It’s like buying a flight then finding out the additional costs like luggage, seat etc later on. Information about the additional costs is not informed of when taking the boat trip.
Graham F — Google review
The pricing structure for visiting the islands is unclear and unsatisfactory. Initially, it costs 15 CHF for access to all three islands by boat. However, if you want to explore the islands further, there are additional charges: 19 CHF for one island and 22 CHF for another (or 34 CHF for both). This lack of transparency feels misleading and is not worth the cost. Tourists often feel taken advantage of due to these hidden fees. I do not recommend this experience.

The Mausoleo Cadorna, a war memorial located in Italy, stands as a tribute to the conflicts of the past. This commemorative structure pays homage to those who fought and sacrificed their lives in battles. Built with solemnity and respect, this monument serves as a lasting reminder of the ravages of war and the bravery exhibited by countless individuals on the battlefield.
(Translated by Google) On the lakeside of Pallanza (the Municipality of Verbania was born from the union with Intra on 4 April 1939) stands this monumental Mausoleum dedicated to General Luigi Cadorna, who directed war operations during the First World War from his entry into the conflict of Italy (24 May 1915) until the defeat of Caporetto (24 October 1917). Historically he was replaced by General Armando Diaz who won the war (4 November 1918). General Cadorna, born in Pallanza, died in Bordighera in Liguria. It was the fascist regime that rehabilitated him from the accusations following Caporetto and wanted to build him a mighty Mausoleum in his hometown by commissioning the famous architect Marcello Piacentini, the greatest interpreter of the monumentality of the twenty years of fascism. The mortal remains were placed in 1932. It is surrounded at the base by the statues of twelve "sentinels": the number is not random and corresponds to the battles ordered by Cadorna during the Great War. Inside, in a central position, there is the marble sarcophagus, which I consider very eye-catching.

(Translated by Google) When you stand on the lakeside promenade of Verbania-Pallanza and look up at the Mausoleum of Luigi Cadorna, you can't help but be struck. It's imposing, austere, majestic. A massive block of stone that almost seems to resist time and the elements, and perhaps even the judgments of history. Built in 1932 to a design by Marcello Piacentini, one of the most famous architects of the Fascist period, the monument is a perfect example of the kind of architecture that sought to "impress" rather than decorate. No frills. Clean lines, strong geometries, and local materials like Serizzo granite, used to give it a solid soul, almost sculpted into the mountain. It was recently restored, in 2023, and today it presents itself in all its strength: clean, polished, respectful of its memory, but also ready to welcome new perspectives, new meanings. The twelve statues surrounding the mausoleum, depicting soldiers, tell a story of war, certainly, but also of sacrifice and collective identity. The most beautiful thing is the relationship with the lake: on one side, the stone, on the other, the water. On one side, the rigidity of memory, on the other, the movement of nature. It's as if the monument were a fixed point from which to launch a thousand reflections. Its position is not accidental: it faces the lake, is reflected in the water, imposing but not overwhelming. And when the sun is shining, the contrasts between light and shadow bring out every edge, every detail of the stone. When it rains or is foggy, the atmosphere becomes even more intense, almost cinematic. The Cadorna Mausoleum is not just a monumental tomb: it is a visual experience, an exercise in reflection on what it means to remember. It stands there, overlooking the lake, reminding us that history is not only in books, but also in walls, stones, and silences. And if we look at it with different eyes, it can still tell us a lot.

An example of Littoria art, it is well preserved with 12 statues of soldiers surrounding it. It overlooks the lake where you can enjoy an excellent view. (Translated by Google) It is the mausoleum where the body of General Cadorna, originally from Pallanza, lies. It was built in 1932 by the well-known architect Piacentini, interpreter of most of the commemorative works built in the "twenty-year period". The monument is supported by twelve "soldiers" to recall the twelve battles ordered by the general (or were they 12 massacres?....) who was hated by his soldiers and removed from command after the defeat at Caporetto. Honestly, I cannot grasp the spirit of this monument and I limit myself to seeing it as a landscape point. (Original) È il mausoleo dove giace la salma del generale Cadorna, originario di Pallanza . Villa Rusconi-Clerici is a stunning location that offers splendid panoramas of the lake and is known for its well-maintained gardens and parks. It is situated in Pallanza, alongside other notable monuments such as Villa Julia, Villa St. Remigio, and Villa Taranto. The neoclassical Villa Giulia nearby was once owned by the Branca family and now hosts temporary museum exhibitions.
I can't recommend this wedding venue enough. It's beautifully located on the lake and the glass house is wonderful for large events.

As wedding photographers, we absolutely love Villa Rusconi Clerici! The setting right on Lake Maggiore is just stunning, the view of the water and mountains makes every wedding feel so dreamy and romantic. The villa has such a relaxed, elegant vibe, and we adore capturing portraits in the gardens and by the lake. The light at sunset is simply magical. perfect for those golden, cinematic shots. Nestled in the charming Piazza Garibaldi of Verbania Pallanza, Vincent Bistrò is a delightful gastronomic haven that offers diners a taste of local cuisine alongside stunning views of the lake. With inviting indoor spaces and outdoor seating, guests can soak up the vibrant atmosphere while savoring their meals. The friendly and professional staff enhance the experience, making every visit memorable.

AVOID Situated just by a lovely town square by the beautiful Lago Maggiore Vincent Bistro looks neat and presents itself as a nice mid-range wine bar and restaurant. Despite the scenic view of the lake and the quaint town square, sadly, there is little to like and much to dislike. For starters, my family, my wife and I ordered a deli platter to share. It was very small, and all of the cold cuts and cheeses lay on top of a very dry, shredded salad, seemingly put there to make the dish look like it had more meats and cheeses than it actually did. For the main dish, I ordered the 24€ chicken with potatoes and black pepper sauce. As you can clearly see from the attached photo, I was served half a chicken breast, one or one and a half potatoes and a very small sauce dish. I love chicken. I have rarely found any chicken dish that I have not liked. This was very, very dry, and it seemed like it’d been cut before it was cooked rather than afterwards (which would explain why it was so dry). The potatoes were mushy and bland, and the sauce was not much to write home about. On top of all of this, the waitress was cold in her demeanor and didn’t seem like she cared either about us or her job. Frankly I’ve had better service buying post stamps in the nearby shops in Verbania than here. Lastly, even though we told the waitress several times that we wanted to keep the salad from the cold cuts to have it with our main dishes later on she repeatedly tried to take it from our table without asking. I get that it looks nice. But. Do not eat here. There’s plenty of very nice restaurants nearby where you can get the same view, better service, and much better food for a more reasonable price.

We have been here for a quick lunch and we enjoyed the stay! The staff was very friendly and professional as well as the quality of the food. Dogs are more than welcomed here but please make sure your four-legged friend is educated enough to avoid disturbing other people. Prices are slightly high but considering the location is understandable. TheFork reservation available here.

We got two salads. Small and without dressing. Which would be ok if they cost less. One of them had an unripe pear and the other had dried out chicken. Our neighbours had hot meals and they looked better though.

RECOMMENDED. Food was really good (we opted for parmigiana, dorade/sea beam, small salad/potatoes as sides and tiramisu). Everything was homemade, staff was super friendly, owner shared extra cooking / baby naming tips. Highly recommended.
Tobias H — Google review
Unfortunately, our visit to Vincent Bistro left much to be desired. While the location is undeniably beautiful — perched close to the bay with a lovely view — the food and atmosphere did not live up to the expectations set by its current 4-star rating. We began with a Limoncello Spritz, which was disappointingly flat and rather bland. For the starter, we ordered Salumi e Formaggi, which was genuinely good — fresh and tasty — but oddly served on a mound of finely sliced salad leaves, which felt unnecessary and distracted from the simplicity of good cured meats and cheese. For my main course, I had the vegetarian ravioli with tomato sauce. The dish was deeply underwhelming: the sauce was watery and lacked character, and there was far too much of it. Moreover, the ravioli themselves were slightly cold around the edges, which suggested they hadn’t been properly heated through. My father-in-law chose the same dish, but with meat instead of vegetables, and found it equally dull and uninspired. My mother-in-law opted for the lasagna, which had been recommended in previous reviews — but this turned out to be misleading. The lasagna was squishy in texture, almost soggy, with very little flavour to redeem it. The greatest disappointment, however, was my husband’s main course: chicken with potatoes. It looked and tasted like something an 18-year-old student might cook after moving out for the first time. The chicken was dry and unseasoned, sliced awkwardly and served with what appeared to be mayonnaise mixed with a bit of pepper — a truly uninspired choice — and accompanied by a few limp slices of potato. For the price of 24 euros, the portion was additionally so small it hardly would satisfy even a 10-year old. Service was passable but far from warm; the staff seemed tired, bored, and not particularly keen to make guests feel welcome. Overall, Vincent Bistro appears to rest heavily on its scenic location rather than the quality of its cuisine or hospitality. While I understand how the view alone might inflate the average rating, it does not justify its current 4 stars. At best, it deserves 3 — in my opinion, closer to a 2 or 2.5 if that were possible. Regrettably, I would not recommend dining here unless one is only interested in the view — and prepared for a meal that does not match it and cost too much.

One of the best places I’ve been to while in Pallanza and the Lago Maggiore region! The staff is amazing (especially Antonio) and the food and wines are great. We got a ‘first row’ seat during one of the musical nights in the town square and it was truly a wonderful time. While you’re there, definitely get the tagliere and the tiramisù. Grazie per tutto! ❤️

The staff at Skipper Pizzeria Kebab is friendly and provides excellent and efficient service. The kebab meat is tender, the pizza is flavorful, and the falafel is outstanding. I'm currently on vacation at Lago Maggiore and thought that I could try to order from here. Since I only know a few words in Italian, I thought I could just use Just Eat to order my food. So I ordered around 4 pm for 6.55 pm, which was the earliest time for delivery. The app told me that the restaurant would accept my order around 6.30 pm, which they did. Shortly after they called me so I answered and of course I couldn't really communicate with them since I don't speak enough Italian. They tried to communicate in English but they only said a few words and then they hung up. I asked multiple times what they said, but nothing really came back. At around 7.30 pm, my food was still not there, so I called them and asked if there is someone who could speak English even a little bit. I know that I can't expect everyone to speak English and that is fine, but we have to communicate in some way if something isn't working. Luckily, there was someone who understood and spoke english a little bit, so I asked about my order. They said that it would take an extra hour! I was baffled but couldn't say no since I was really hungry at that point. They came after an hour but the order was wrong and there was nothing to accommodate how long we had to wait. I am really upset with this restaurant and the delivery process. I can't say anything about the look of the restaurant itself, but this was a horrible experience.

The worst Italian place i‘ve ever visited. We sat on garden chairs and waited 50 minutes for 4 pizzas. The cabonara however came after 20 minutes. After we got the pizzas someone tried to bring us another cabonara. Then we were asked whether we had the lasagna. Your drinks will be served as cans. They wont open the cans or pour the cans in the glasses. No ice cubes either. Service was absolutely terrible. Nobody came around to ask whether everything was ok. When I asked after 40 minutes when the food comes, the server didnt even look at me and just said soon and almost ran away. The pizza was almost burned. The addons were just thrown on just one spot (see picture for example) and there were not supposed to be olives on this pizza. The cabonara was ok but it was with bacon and not with guanciale. They also did not bring the bill to the table. I had to go inside to pay.

Very nice restaurant for dining. Has lots of places to sit, service is prompt, friendly, understand English on satisfactory level. Restaurant is clean and well lit. If you sit on the terrace or outside, you will get nice view on shore, lake and the other side, especially in the evening. Prices are very nice and you will get tasty meal and pizza. We did get pizza Prosciutto Crudo and Quattro Stagioni and we got just typical Italian dish. Very tasty, nothing to complain about. Drinks were also fine, surprisingly good beer. I was not expecting to find such lovely place right on first try. Recommendations came from Google reviews.

We came here more for the location as we sat outside with great view over the lake. However, one can tell why this was rated 3.9 when we came, as the menu is quite overpriced and the service was not particularly personal. House white wine was really tasty nicely chilled though and food was decent.
