The Double Minaret Madrasa, a stunning example of 13th-century Seljuk architecture, stands as one of Erzurum's most remarkable landmarks. This impressive structure features two soaring fluted minarets adorned with vibrant blue tiles that catch the eye from afar. The intricately carved main portal leads visitors into a serene courtyard lined with columns, where a grand 12-sided domed hall awaits at the end—believed to be the resting place of the madrasa's founder.
It is a wonderful building that smells of history. It is amazing that it is used as an educational center and the structure inside is still preserved. It is impossible not to be impressed.

A beautiful historic building which has become the symbol of Erzurum. It has an amazing architecture as well as plenty of items on show inside. There is also a tomb inside the building. It’s also free to visit which is an added bonus.

Twin Minaret Madrasa The Twin Minaret Madrasa, located in Erzurum, Turkey, is a historic Seljuk structure built in the 13th century. It is believed to have been commissioned by Hundi Hatun in 1253 during the Ilkhanate period. It takes its name from the two magnificent minarets above the entrance. The madrasa is one of the most important examples of Seljuk architecture in Anatolia and is notable for its stonework. Originally used as an educational center, the building now serves as a museum. Its architectural features and ornamentation attract the attention of history enthusiasts.
Mazhar A — Google review
We went late in the afternoon. It was free to enter. Lots of exhibitions in each of the side rooms. Really beautiful and atmospheric.

Seljuk era Iranian style(four iwan) islamic seminary. delicate stucco decoration, while a large part of the architecture is renovated. most of historical items exhibited inside come from 19-20 century, except two pieces of carpets and two copies of Quran from 16th century

Beautiful place although I wish they could explain more about the building, the different figures and symbols that you see in the main entrance and inside the building. At night is also very beautiful but they need to provide more information on the building. There is no entry fee and they are closed on Monday.
JR S — Google review
Those 26-meter minarets are the stars here. Slender yet imposing, their layered brickwork feels graceful, while bands of blue, green, and sienna tiles—studded with geometric stars and flowers—glow even on gray days. Up close, the left minaret’s base wows with twisted vines and tiny rosettes, carving patterns that flow into its curve. The right has a sharper spire, the left a softer slope, balancing perfectly. I circled them for 10 minutes, snapping shots—their look shifts with light, from bold to mysterious. Not just tall—true art.

Castles
Perched majestically atop a hill in the heart of Erzurum, Erzurum Castle, or Erzurum Kalesi, is a captivating testament to the region's rich history. This ancient fortress dates back to Urartian times and has witnessed the ebb and flow of various civilizations including Assyrians, Persians, Romans, and Byzantines.
Quite a small castle with a really nice tower which you can go up if you wish. Just be weary of the large number of steps so be prepared for a good walk up. The last part is using a small ladder but it’s definitely worthwhile. There is also a nice mosque inside the castle. Entrance is 3 Euros for tourists.
S A — Google review
There is not much to see inside this historic castle, built in Selcuk times over the ruins of Byzantine Thodosioupolis. But it is recommended to climb the steep staircase into the top of "clock tower minare" to appreciate the nice panoramic view. The tickets are discriminating locals and foreigners.
ANASTASIOS T — Google review
The best part of the tour is the climb up to the top of the clock tower. It’s not easy, and there aren’t any handrails. The view is spectacular, especially on a clear day. The cost is 3 Euros, and they stop admission at 16:30. It is not suitable for anyone with a handicap.
Richard K — Google review
There is not much to see or do inside the castle apart from going up the clock tower as there is nothing else apart from a little mosque. The view of Erzurum from the tower is very nice. There are few interesting stones at the entrance with animal shapes and crosses, sadly, so not very well looked after. They should be in a museum. Entry fee is 20 TL.
JR S — Google review
There is not a lot to see inside of the castle, but it does give you access to the clock tower, the top of which affords excellent views of the city. (66 steps and then a ladder). We used our Museum Cards to get free entry; 20TL per person if you have to pay.
Paul B — Google review
Unfortunately, the hospitality was extremely disappointing. As we arrived at the entrance, I only had a credit card and no cash, but the staff refused to cooperate or accommodate our situation. Despite our polite request to visit the castle, we were denied entry. The overall experience felt unwelcoming and rigid, which really took away from what could have been a memorable visit.
Bahrain E — Google review
The citadel is under renovation. There is no important ruins to visit it, just give 20TL as entrance fee to take the hard stair of the clock tower to see the clock still have working and enjoy really great views of Erzurum city. There were cannon balls in the walls and ground.
Abdulnaser M — Google review
The Erzurum Castle within the city is truly worth a visit. However, there's an even larger and more intact castle located outside the city. This exterior castle has an even more ancient origin. Despite its long history, traces from the Roman and Byzantine eras are scarce in its current architecture. The Erzurum Castle in the city center, while having a 2,000 - year - old foundation with layers from different empires, has lost much of its original historical appearance due to numerous renovations and the ravages of time. Its walls, which once concealed secret tunnels and held a large cistern for siege survival, now stand as a shadow of their former selves. Comparatively, the outer castle, though grander in scale and more complete in structure, lacks the rich historical remnants that one would expect from its age. There aren't many visible relics from those distant Roman and Byzantine times. Moreover, in terms of attractiveness, the inner city castle doesn't have a strong allure. Except for one of its towers, the rest of the castle doesn't particularly stand out. But when it comes to towers, the minarets of the nearby Double Minaret Madrasa are far more artistically valuable. Adorned with colorful tiles and intricate carvings, they showcase the outstanding architectural skills and decorative arts of the Seljuk period, leaving a much deeper impression than the castle tower.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Erzurum Ulu Camii, also known as the Grand Mosque, stands as a significant symbol of religious heritage in Erzurum. Dating back to 1179, this mosque showcases the impressive Seljuk architecture and is considered one of the largest in the city. Despite its simple design, it exudes an imposing presence that captivates visitors. The peaceful courtyard invites contemplation and reflection, offering a serene atmosphere for those who visit.
Erzurum Ulu Mosque; It was built by Saltuklu Emir Nasreddin Aslan Mehmet in 1179. It is also called "Atabey Mosque" due to the Saltuklu name "Atabey". The upper cover of the structure was built vertically to the mihrab wall. It consists of a wide central nave and three naves on each side, totaling seven naves. The mosque, which is built on twenty-eight free "L", "T" and rectangular shaped piers, measures 51 x 54 meters. The upper cover in the prayer hall is carried by forty piers, sixteen of which are adjacent to the walls. The mosque, which was used as a food warehouse during the reign of Sultan Murat IV, was repaired five times at different dates. Erzurum Governor Hüseyin Pasha repaired the mosque in 1639, Ali Efendi in 1826, and these were followed by repairs in 1858 and 1860. The mosque was last repaired by the General Directorate of Foundations between 1957 and 1964.

This is the main and biggest mosque in Erzurum. It’s a really beautiful place with a wooden dome which is something special. There are also 3D models of the 3 main mosques of Islam inside the building which are definitely worth looking at.

The Ulu Camii of Erzerum is not very impressive as a tourist sight. But is a very important historic place dating from the 12th century, when Erzerum was the capital of a Saltakid state.
ANASTASIOS T — Google review
What an amazing experience. There is something about this mosque that I was so overwhelmed with emotion about the history that must be hidden within the bare walls. Even though there is no Islamic decorations on the ceilings etc. Feels incredibly serene.
Jacko 0 — Google review
I was a bit disappointed by the lack of colour and Islamic patterns, especially on the ceilings and walls. Also, there was no clear signage with the name and year of construction near the entrance. I found an information board inside, but it was only Turkish. The minbar and lectern(?) have intricate timber carvings and designs - very nice.

Ancient Ruins
Located in the heart of the city, Three Kümbets is a historical site featuring a collection of medieval stone tombs with distinctive conical roofs. These ancient structures hold immense historical significance and serve as an epitome of Seljuk mausoleum architecture. The information boards available in both English and Turkish offer insights into these remarkable monuments. While entry into the tombs is not permitted, visitors can freely admire and even touch these intriguing examples of architectural craftsmanship.
The Three Tombs are among the most beautiful examples of the monumental tombs in Anatolia. It is thought that the largest of the three cupolas belongs to Emir Saltuk and was built at the end of the 12th century. While it is not known who the other cupolas belong to, it is estimated that they were built in the 14th century. Emir Saltuk Tomb is made of cut stone. It has an octagonal body, a high drum and is covered with a flat cone that is a mixture of a dome and a cone. The triangular pediments, round arches and drum niches of the tomb made of two-colored cut stone have reliefs of animals such as bulls, snakes, bats and eagles. These reliefs resemble the zodiac figures in the Central Asian Turkish calendars. The human head carving between the bull horns in one of the niches is striking. There are pairs of windows on each of the four faces of the eight facades of Emir Saltuk Tomb. Geometric ornaments and flower and animal figures can be seen on the eaves of the entrance door on the north side of the tomb.
Asilbek M — Google review
These three tombs are another interesting part of the history of Erzurum and the Ottoman Empire. The area isn’t very clean, but you can walk around and take pictures. There’s no designated parking area. It’s definitely not a place to visit if you’re handicapped.

The Old Erzurum Houses, once Ottoman homes, have been transformed into a museum and restaurant where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of the region. These traditional two-story structures boast wooden frames, stone foundations, intricate wooden carvings, and spacious windows. Nearby stands a remarkable Caravan Saray that served travelers along the historic Silk Road.
Historical Erzurum houses are truly magnificent. It is a place where the objects used since the past are exhibited without spoiling the structure of the historical building. You can have breakfast and dinner inside. You can chat with your friends in the large rooms reserved for groups and collect beautiful memories in a historical place.
Asilbek M — Google review
Unfortunately, I have to leave the kind of review I don’t really enjoy writing—but it’s important, so others don’t end up in the same situation I did. When choosing a place for dinner, I was looking for something within walking distance from my hotel, and I was hoping for decent food regardless of price. Upon arriving, I was immediately impressed by the interior—it’s truly original, designed in a historical style that creates a very immersive atmosphere. The tea service, which I saw at neighboring tables, was also impressive: they bring out a teapot or a samovar right over hot coals, making it a great experience for a larger group to enjoy traditional tea together. However, when it comes to food—the main reason I came—I was very disappointed. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu: a mixed grill platter with various types of meat. It arrived surprisingly fast, especially for something that’s supposedly grilled fresh. Unfortunately, the look of the dish made it clear that it wasn’t freshly prepared. It seemed like it had been pre-cooked earlier, possibly even reheated in a microwave—and despite that, it was still cold. I didn’t even try it, because the visual alone spoke volumes about the quality. I returned the dish. Service was also very slow, to the point where I had to actively look for staff. I ended up canceling my second order—a tandoor kebab—that appeared ready to serve just five minutes after I placed it, again suggesting it had been pre-made. In the end, I left disappointed, having not eaten anything. Still, I can see that it’s a great spot for tea or drinks, to sit and chat in a beautiful open area. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, with charming balconies and a spacious setting. But unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place for food, even though it clearly has great potential.
Anri S — Google review
Great place for breakfast in Erzurum. 400 years old house that is filled with relics from the past. It is as much a museum as it is a restaurant. The decor and all the pieces of artifacts were a reminder of the past generations and the old way of life. Come here for breakfast, take a break from life, immerse in the nostalgia and sip into your tea.
Taniyyus S — Google review
The place is really nice , old and authentic, you’ll enjoy the atmosphere here , but as of yesterday, the service was beyond terrible, as soon as we walked in , there was nobody hosting us, we sat upstairs for 15 minutes, they guy came to us , gave us menus and disappeared, he didn’t even ask what do we drink, then we moved downstairs thinking service will be better, another 10-15 minutes passed ,then same guy came to take the order, again didn’t even ask what to drink, didn’t even bring at least a bottle of water! people kept coming, there were two people next to us, 30 minutes and nobody showed up at their table . We waited for another 20 minutes , nobody asked or offered a beverage or something, so we just left very disappointed. 2 stars because the place is nice .

This is a very big historic complex serving as a restaurant/cafe in the heart of Erzurum. The place has been renovated by an entrepreneur and it's a must go destination for all visitors. The restaurant has a very nice menu and the portions are pretty big and prices range from 4 USD to 10 USD per person for food. There are many separate rooms which also gives privacy and transportation is very easy because of its location. We have tried it's breakfast and ordered extra eggs with sucuk (Turkish spicy sausage) and the price was only USD14. The service is very fast and the food is delicious!

Nestled in the heart of Erzurum, Yakutiye Madrasa is a stunning 14th-century structure that has been transformed into the Turkish-Islamic Art and Ethnography Museum. Yakutiye Madrasah was built in 1310 by Hoca Yakut Gazani in the name of Gazan Khan and Bolugan Hatun during the reign of the Ilkhanate ruler Sultan Olcayto. Yakutiye Madrasah, the largest of the madrasahs with a closed courtyard in Anatolia, is one of the most magnificent structures in Erzurum with its plan layout, balanced architecture and large motif decorations. The crown gate of the structure protrudes from the façade. The middle section of the rectangular courtyard in the four-iwan interior is covered with a muqarnas dome and the other sections are covered with barrel vaults with pointed arches. On the side surfaces of the crown gate, leopard and eagle motifs draw attention in niches surrounded by molded arches. The tree of life, consisting of palm leaves coming out of an openwork sphere, two leopard and eagle figures, brings together important symbols of the Central Asian Turks. The decorations covering every side of the crown gate with its low arches and carvings create a magnificent view.

Very distinguished from the rest of the architecture style in Anatolia as a whole. It has thick tower, unless lots of towers in rest of Anatolia. And its tower is only one too, added to its uniqueness from the rest.

Yakutiye Madrasa in Erzurum is a captivating example of Seljuk architecture, built in 1310. This historic site showcases intricate stone carvings, particularly on its impressive portal, which features beautiful geometric patterns and Islamic calligraphy. The madrasa’s rectangular courtyard, surrounded by iwans, creates a peaceful and reflective atmosphere, offering visitors a glimpse into the grandeur of Islamic education and art from the Ilkhanid period. The central dome and the craftsmanship throughout make Yakutiye Madrasa a must-see for anyone interested in history, architecture, and culture.

Atatürk House, a 19th-century building that once served as the German consulate and later became the residence of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk for 52 days in 1919, offers visitors a unique glimpse into the life of the founding father of modern Turkey. The well-preserved rooms within this historical site serve as chapters from pivotal moments in Turkish history. While primarily catering to a Turkish audience, there are some English explanations available for foreign visitors.
The museum is located on Çaykara Street, Çaykara Street. It was built as a mansion by a wealthy person from Erzurum in the late 19th century. The building, which was used as the German Consulate for a short period of 9 months in 1915-1916, was given as a residence to the Erzurum Governorship after the liberation of Erzurum on March 12, 1918. Governor Mahir Akkaya lived here until July 3, 1919, and the mansion became vacant when he left Erzurum. After Mustafa Kemal Pasha arrived in Samsun, Hüseyin Rauf Bey and his friends settled in this mansion in Erzurum for the congress on July 9, 1919, and continued the work of the Erzurum Congress for 52 days until August 29, 1919, and the mansion gained historical importance. After Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha left Erzurum, the house was used as the governor's mansion again.

Also, I have no words for the employees, but the bearded gentleman at the cash register should learn that you cannot address the customer as "you". His behavior is also very harsh, no smiling face etc. no. It's like you're eating for free. Üçler is a popular spot known for its delicious kebabs, doner, and lahmacun. The doner here resembles the famous leaf doners in Istanbul. Customers praise the attentive and friendly staff. Some mention parking issues at the venue. Visitors also appreciate the food, service, and cleanliness, giving high marks to dishes like chicken broth soup, doner, and lahmacun. The ashure and tel kadayif made with molasses are particularly recommended.
We ate dinner here for my wife's birthday and were very impressed with the experience. The staff excellent in their customer service and really made it special. The food was delicious, too. We were happy with our choice to go to this restaurant. Thank you so much! We recommend everyone to go here.

Perhaps my favourite place in Erzurum for an Iskender Doner. The most popular (and for good reason) is the iskender with piping hot butter poured on top of it. Be warned, it's a lot of butter, very rich and very delicious. Definitely not something to eat every day. The bread provided was fresh, the food great quality and delicious and fantastic service. A must-try if you're in Erzurum.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. We'd read the reviews and went with a positive outlook, but I think it was very crowded because it was a Sunday. A strong odor hits you the moment you enter, a real problem for those with sensitive smells like me. The Iskender kebab arrived cold and completely unworthy of its price. The Ezogelin soup was hot and delicious. The diced pita was also delicious. Most importantly, the restrooms were horribly dirty and lacking toilet paper. We paid 1280 TL for two Iskender kebabs, one soup, one diced pita, and one ayran. (Original) Ne yazık ki hayal kırıklığı oldu. Emirşeyh Köftecisi is a charming restaurant located in the old town of Erzurum, housed in a historic mansion with colorful ceilings. The atmosphere is authentic and inviting, offering a comfortable and warm dining experience. The menu features a variety of options, including their signature köfte and local specialty dishes like beef stew (sac kavurma) and Cag kebabi.
Beautiful restaurant near the Çifte Minareli Medrese (the "Twin Minaret" madrasa). We had the local speciality Cağ kebabı, mushrooms and a soup for dinner. All was very good. Nice service too. The ceilings are very beautiful as the restaurant is in a former mansion.

It was fantastic experience for me, and for my wife, after the same place from Uludağ mountain, we enjoy so much, we laugh we listen music, live music, we dance, we ski, like craziest, it was cold up on the teleferik, watching people some of them ski 🎿 like professionals some of them falling down so comic, the service was good and helpful people working there, it's totally the best place in Erzurum if you want to enjoy your time with your family or friends, I highly recommend ❤️

This mall used to be the biggest in town. By the time the new mall opened it needed a lot of work. They lost a lot of stores to mng and then worst of all they lost carrefour. But since then it seems since they are a chain, from their center they have started to invest and revitalize the mall. So now it is cleaner and we like to go there sometimes now because it is less crowded than the larger mall

(Translated by Google) 💰💰💰JUNE 2025 Cheeseburger Menu (Fries + Drink): 263₺ …⬇️ If we comment according to Erzurum standards, it may be the best burger place in the city. Prices are never exaggerated. Cheeseburger 🍔 was delicious. The bread was fresh, the taste of the meatball was very successful. The caramelized onions were too much and were piled up in only one section. If they reduce the amount a little and spread it more, it would definitely be a 5-star taste in the burger. The potatoes were good. Maybe a slightly more special cut could be offered. Please use HEINZ brand as sauce. Whatever you use other than that, it cannot capture its taste. Also, it should be brought to the table as a bottle, not as a piece. As a set (hot sauce, barbecue, etc.) The menu wrote the grams of meat for some products, but not all of them. A solution can be found for this. The place is quite spacious and clean. The employees are attentive and smiling. If the criticisms made will have a big impact on the price, it might as well not be made. After all, students use this place more. They should eat at the most affordable price. (Original) 💰💰💰HAZİRAN 2025 Cheeseburger Menü(Patates+İçeçek):263₺ …⬇️ Erzurum standartlarına göre yorum yaparsak eğer, şehirdeki en iyi burgerci olabilir. Fiyatlar asla abartı değil. Cheeseburger 🍔 lezzetliydi.

(Translated by Google) First of all, let me say I'm very surprised who gave a place like this 5 stars. These people must have very different tastes. When I went here, my cousin came from Izmir and had never had cağ before. I hadn't had cağ here before so we went here for something different, and he was very curious. We came to this place and they brought me a cağ, and I swear, having eaten at almost every cağ in Erzurum, it was the worst cağ I've ever had. There was no flavor, no meat on it. They brought the fat right after the cağ, and the waiters were very rude, and the service was very, very bad. The guest I brought immediately said, "Was this the cağ you were raving about so much?" I absolutely do not recommend it. Even if they offered it for free, I don't think you should go; I'm absolutely certain you'll regret it. Eat at the first place you come across in Erzurum, which is the most mediocre, it's much more delicious than here. As I said, I've eaten everywhere, and this place was incredibly bad. Especially for those who come from outside and are curious about the taste of cağ and want to get away from cağ and meat, I definitely recommend this place.

(Translated by Google) I have never eaten their food. If I were to comment negatively, I would be wrong. An incident like this happened to us. My wife was driving. It's rude to say that she was very cramped in the small restroom. I said, "Please ask the waiter here to go in because there was no restroom around." We entered together. He asked permission to use the restroom nicely. A young waiter there said you could use it. However, a mustached waiter frowned and harshly called out to my wife, saying, "Why would I leave it dirty?" Isn't it rude to say something like that to someone who asks for help. When my wife entered the restroom, I saw the cağ (water fountains). I was very hungry. We were going to sit down and eat cağ anyway. But because of that rude waiter's rude attitude, my wife said, "Shame on you, shopkeepers." She left and didn't use the restroom. His attitude was very rude and impolite. At that moment, a human need arose. It's inhumane to say that to someone who asks for help, to leave it dirty like that. Frankly, it's strange that my wife is normally a well-groomed person who dresses stylishly and dresses well. The fact that that man there compared my wife to him without looking at his own appearance was a whole other story. After all, we were planning to eat while we were eating. We left without eating and when our friends from out of town asked us, we always recommended places where we received better service. Some asked if we could go to this place. We said definitely not to go. I am calling out to the owner of this place. Employing people like this will make you lose customers. Who knows how many people he has treated like this? The owner of the place may not even be aware of this rudeness. If the owner sees my message, please hire someone more polite and decent. It would be much better for both himself and the customers. We had our first Cag Kebap here. The food was excellent but even better was the super friendly helpful staff, who even though they didn’t speak any English, went out of their way to try to explain to us how to prepare and eat the Cag Kebap. A lovely local family restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. Have to restrain ourselves not to go back tomorrow for a second round.

I am a foreigner visiting Erzurum. On our first day here, the woman at our hotel recommended this restaurant to us. We were very excited. Using the translator application, I was able to communicate with the staff, who received us very well. They even allowed me to take a video of myself cutting a portion of cag kebab. Very friendly and welcoming service. We enjoyed the taste of the meal and especially the ambiance of this beautiful place! Thank you for having us!

For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Capitols (23 July 1919). Not quite as popular as Erzurum Castle, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

The Capitols, a significant historical site, was the venue for the Erzurum Congress from July 23 to August 7, 1919, which played a pivotal role in Turkey's War of Independence. This building is where the powerful declaration "The homeland is a whole within national borders and cannot be divided" was first articulated.
This is the building where the Erzurum Congress, which played an important role in our War of Independence, was held between July 23 and August 7, 1919. The phrase "The homeland is a whole within national borders and cannot be divided" was used here for the first time and the decision was made that the homeland would be defended as a whole. Today, the congress building serves as the Atatürk Painting and Sculpture Museum.

One of the initial meetings of Turkish War of Independence took place in this building. I have visited the building with a tour and I haven't had enough time to see the paintings. Except paintings it takes 15 minutes to visit the building and due to historical significance of the building it was an amazing experience. By the way, the seats aren't the original ones. I thought they are 100 year old seats and I was nervous about damaging them. You should still be careful about it.
Eren T — Google review
Goose bumps due to the importance of the building for the Republic of Turkey. Definitely a must to be at place for all Turkish people. A very simple concept, the management is poor. It does not reflect the importance of the building and there is a lot more that can be done to improve the experience of visiting a place that Ataturk and all those fellow heroes started rewriting the destiny of the country.

Güzelyurt Restaurant, a cherished establishment since 1928, is a must-visit gem located in the heart of Erzurum on Cumhuriyet Caddesi. Renowned for its delightful meze offerings—akin to Turkish tapas—this classy venue invites you to savor traditional dishes paired with refreshing Turkish raki. The ambiance is vibrant and lively, making it an ideal spot for both locals and travelers seeking an enjoyable dining experience.
%100 recommend. If you visit Erzurum, definitely spend an evening in here. Will come again next week.

This place is an institution. The word classy is aptly used for this place. Unfortunately the cigarette smoke is unbearable but is manageable upstairs. The bar is well stocked, and the Mezze was super. We specially liked the smoked eggplant and tomato and the hot spicy liver. The white cheese was extraordinary. They did mess up our order but thankfully their mistakes turned out to be good.
Saeed G — Google review
Very disappointing experience. The food was terrible cold, tasteless, and definitely not worth the high prices. The service was just as bad. The waiter, who strangely had a piece of broken glass hanging around his neck, was rude and unprofessional. It felt uncomfortable and unsafe. Overall, this place is overpriced and poorly managed. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Shaa G — Google review
The food and atmosphere reminded me of an English seaside hotel dining room of the 1990's. Jazz played. Would there be dancing? Unlikely as I had the place to myself. Warm welcome and excellent service but not a special experience. I do think they should concentrate a bit more on the actual offering as well as the fact they serve alcohol.
Sweeney D — Google review
I don’t know how people are rating this place high. The food taste does not corresponds with prices. If you pay such high price you would expect different level from other restaurants in the area. But you don’t charge high prices for normal food just because you serve alcohol. In addition, the waiters are quite rude.
Jimmy W — Google review
It feels like back to 70’s gentlemen’s club. Well dressed staff. Very polite and professional plus they serve alcohol. The food is very nice. The only downside is people smoke inside the restaurant.
S G — Google review
Service and food were excellent. My only gripe was the cigarette smoke wafting through the door from the long corridor outside and our clothes were reeking of smoke when we got home. But this won’t bother the smokers out there.

Historic Sites
Aziziye Tabyası, located just west of Erzurum at the base of the Palandoken Mountains, stands as a testament to the region's rich history. This fortification was one of the Ottoman Empire's key defensive structures in Eastern Anatolia and played a pivotal role during significant conflicts like the Russo-Turkish War. While its historical importance is undeniable, visitors often note that it could benefit from better maintenance and more informative displays to enhance understanding of its past.
Very interesting to see unfortunately there is no information about. The place is abandoned. The only information was in Turkish language. It could look better as a bastion of this city. I want history is hidden there.

(Translated by Google) The Aziziye Forts in Erzurum were one of the Ottoman Empire's most important defensive structures in the East and played a critical role before the War of Independence, particularly during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. --- 📍 Location Located west of Erzurum, at the foothills of the Palandöken Mountains, approximately 4 km from the city center. Strategically located at a height that could oversee the Erzurum Plain and its passageways. --- 🏰 History It is named "Aziziye" because it was built during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz II. It was one of the forts built to defend Erzurum against Russian attacks. The Aziziye Defense, in which the people participated during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877 (Russian War of 1873), took place here. The people, men and women alike, resisted the enemy with their weapons and whatever they had. Erzurumlu Nene Hatun's heroism shines through in this defense and became a symbol of the people's resistance. --- 🛡️ Features There are two main structures, Aziziye Bastion I and II, located close to each other. It features thick stone walls, artillery emplacements, and observation points. It is a typical example of defensive structures in Ottoman military architecture. --- 🎯 Importance It is one of the rare defensive victories won with public participation in the Ottoman-Russian War. (Translated by Google) The forts hold a significant place in Erzurum's history. Indeed, they are very important. But the interior could definitely be better maintained. More information could be provided to better understand the fabric and conditions of that period. Yes, they're clean, but they need more care. It's also quite sad that such a significant site for our country requires an entrance fee. It's deeply meaningful, but for now, it might be better served as a historical artifact. (Original) Erzurumun tarihinde önemli yer tutan tabyalar. Aslında çok önemliler. Ama içi kesinlikle daha bakımlı olabilir. Koç Cağ Kebap

Family restaurant
Koç Cağ Kebap is a straightforward restaurant that serves fire-grilled kebabs with a variety of dipping sauces and sides. The delicious and tasty grilled fatty meat, known as doner, weighs approximately 75g and costs 11TL per serving. The food is served quickly, in less than two minutes, at reasonable prices. Once you start eating these kebabs, it becomes difficult to stop, as they are truly irresistible.
I ate cağ kebab in 3 different preferred places in Erzurum. Lastly, I ate at Koç Çağ Kebab, on 08.02.2024. It's really a place that does this job great. Even though we ate a lot of it, not a single piece of hard meat was found, the fat content was great. The spice was very nice in my opinion, but some might find it too much. For your information, the paste that came with it was very bitter. Paste and onions are delivered as you request. They continue to bring the age until you say okay. They said they were the inventors of the age, and I think they really are. In other places, you don't have to pay 90 lira per skewer, here you only pay 60 lira per skewer. A great place, I would definitely recommend it.

If you find yourself in Erzurum, a visit to Şenyurt Cağ Kebap is an absolute must for any food lover. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, this traditional eatery exudes the charm of classic Turkish dining. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by warm hospitality from the friendly staff who genuinely care about your experience. I am a traveller and Youtuber Taste was very good and delicious compare to I had in Istanbul also quality of meat and quantity was satisfactory. Looking at the restaurant you can't judge but the taste was juicy it reminds me of Steak. For 3 sticks I paid 255 TL. Which was quite reasonable.

The price is a lot higher than at the nearby cag restaurants. The kebaps had a lot of fat. I came here because a local friend recommended, but with the money you pay extra you can have a corba elsewhere. A bit too pricey for what they offer - this is price for fancy and central restaurant.
Iuliana M — Google review
We were very happy with the food - absolutely delicious lamb roasted over the fire. The dining experience itself was very interesting for us too because they bring out skewer after skewer of meat. For 45 liras per skewer, it is on the slightly pricey side but definitely worth a try for given it's delectable and unique taste! Also, the staff here are very friendly and very nice. A bonus on top of the lovely food!

During my short visit of Erzurum with my girlfriend we decided to try the famous Cağ Kebap, typical for Erzurum and we chose this place, even if it was a bit far from our hotel. The place looks traditional, like a clasical good turkish restaurant which I prefer over fancy looking ones. The kebap for me was special taste, something new that I have not tried anywhere else so I can't compare, but it was tasty. The waitress and the kebab guy were friendly, hospitable and so much caring. When they saw us approaching, they opened for us the door and the kebab is coming automatically, there is no menu. If you finish the first, second one is coming and of course you can have even more. 3 made me full for the rest of the day. Before leaving, we wanted to take a pic of the meat rolling over the fire, but they gave us knives and let us take photos while we were cutting the kebab. Perfect, don't hesitate to visit.

A perfect place to relax, in the lamb of green. There are small cottages for them who wants to sit separate and wants some privacy. Open places are all around the park. When we told them about it, they changed the water, but the second cup of tea had the same problem. The waiter said, "The municipality periodically adds chlorine to the water, which is why it's like this." That's no excuse to dismiss. They could buy healthy water from outside if they wanted. Serving customers undrinkable tea that smells of chlorine is both unhealthy and deeply disrespectful. We couldn't drink it and left the table. Despite this, they took our money. It's unbecoming to trifle with people's health and take money they don't deserve. It's unacceptable to receive service from such a business, and we don't recommend it. We thank the young lady working at the museum and everyone who contributed. (Original) Atatürk Üniversitesi kampüsü içerisinde ve Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi bünyesinde yer alan bir müzedir. (Translated by Google) The museum is affiliated with Atatürk University's Presidency and is classified as a private museum. Museum cards are not accepted. They charge 10₺ for adults and 20 children. The price is far superior, and we even wanted to pay more. The museum is ideal for artistic and cultural activities, and we were very surprised at such a low price. It's a first for Turkey in that it produces ice, transforms it into works of art, and displays it. The lighting is colorful, creating a dim atmosphere (never dark), allowing you to enjoy the light dancing on the ice. Dress warmly when entering (coats are not provided for hygiene reasons). The temperature inside is between -4 and -6°C. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There's also a cafe, but the only selection is tea and Turkish coffee, and the cafe prices are well below average. We thank the entire team for their hard work. We recommend a visit. Abdurrahman Gazi Tomb is a must-visit in Erzurum, offering a serene and beautiful experience. Located on a hill, it provides stunning views of the city below. The tomb features separate entrances for men and women and houses an impressively long structure. Visitors are advised not to pray inside but can visit the nearby mosque for prayers. Additionally, the site includes a mysterious "mystery road" where cars seemingly defy gravity by moving uphill without driver input.
Abdurrahman Gazi Hz. Tomb is located 2.5 kilometers southeast of Erzurum at the foot of Palandöken Mountain. It is believed that Abdurrahman Gazi Hz., who was a companion of the Prophet, also carried the standard of the Prophet Muhammad. The tomb, which has been visited since the 16th century together with a dervish lodge, was built in 1796 by Ayşe Hanım, the wife of Erzurum Governor Yusuf Ziya Pasha, and a mosque was added next to it.
Asilbek M — Google review
Very beautiful place to visit. There is a road here which is upslope but car will climb uphill without any input from the driver, illusion for sure but still mind boggling. Now for Hazrat Abdur Rehman Ghazi, he was a great man, may Allah bless his soul, may Allah enable us to follow his good deeds. Ameen. The mosque next to his grave is very beautiful, outside he mosque the view of Erzurum is extremley picturesque. Once a person goes to Abdur Rehman Ghazi tomb all he is surrounded by is peace. May Allah help people of Falasteen , Ameen

(Translated by Google) The tomb belongs to Abdurrahman Gazi, the standard-bearer of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Abdurrahman Gazi fought against the Byzantines near Erzurum during the Islamization of Anatolia and was martyred. The tomb's architecture is quite simple, built with stonework in a classic Ottoman tomb style. A small small mosque is located next to it. --- 🙏 Visits and Spiritual Atmosphere The tomb receives many visitors, especially during religious holidays, holy nights, and Fridays. The people of Erzurum visit the tomb both for prayer and for spiritual peace. The tomb's location overlooks the Erzurum skyline from a height, making it a viewpoint. --- 🌲 Surroundings and Recreation Area Picnic areas, tea gardens, and walking paths surround the tomb. In the summer, Erzurum residents picnic here with their families. In winter, it offers a unique beauty with its snow-covered landscape. (Original) Türbe, Hz. Muhammed’in (s.a.v.) sancaktarı olan Abdurrahman Gazi’ye aittir.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic culinary experience in Erzurum, look no further than Gelgör Cağ Kebap Terminal Gel Gör. Nestled in the vibrant heart of the city, this eatery is renowned for its delectable cağ kebab, a local specialty that promises to tantalize your taste buds. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff eager to ensure you have a memorable dining experience.
Perhaps, it is the best place to eat cağ kebab in the city. They won't stop bringing you a skewer of cağ until you tell them to stop. You have the option to set the level of doneness and the fat amount in a skewer. I suggest you to try kadayıf dolması which is the traditional dessert of Erzurum. After your meal they will serve you tea for no charge. You can ask to have more than one glass of tea.

Doner kebab restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Erzurum, Üçler Kebap Salonu is a vibrant two-level restaurant that boasts a charming terrace for al fresco dining. This eatery has been delighting patrons since 1976 with its warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Specializing in traditional Turkish dishes, it’s particularly famous for its Iskender Kebab—a mouthwatering dish featuring tender slices of doner kebab drenched in rich tomato sauce and topped with melted sheep's milk butter over crispy bread.
This is a very nice restaurant especially for families. It is full almost from afternoon till evening. This place has been operated since 1976 by a polite, smiley face, and helpfulness staff that they specialize in İskender Kebab dish which is a Turkish portion that consists of slices of döner kebab meat topped with hot tomato sauce over pieces of break and generously slathered with melted sheep's milk butter. If you are a vegetarian this restaurant is not recommended for you. The regular portion size is more than enough to feed you. Finally they serve the tea in traditional way using teapot... Furthermore İskender, they serve Döner, Lahmacun and Pide. Great and recommended place!

It is the best place that I have ever seen in Erzurum. If you would like to eat meat I recommend you to go there to order cag kebab. It was delicious.I am sure you have tried doner kebab previously this one is different than doner kebab it is preparing only by meat 🍖 it does not include minced meat.It is laying horizontal on fire 🔥 not the vertical as doner kebab and cutting slides.Just wrap it with thin dough bread and enjoy it.
