Villa Palagonia is a 16th-century patrician villa located in Palagonia, Sicily. Built in 1715, it is a prime example of baroque suburban architecture and was a popular destination during the Grand Tour era. The villa's eccentricity lies in its numerous statues adorning the walls, depicting various creatures and human-like figures. Its curved facade and ornate interior, including the famous gallery of mirrors, add to its allure.
What a remarkable and unusual place! Totally worthwhile visiting. Quite unique in many different ways. Very quiet in the mornings so you have the whole Villa for yourself which adds to the experience.

A privately owned villa, open to the public. Fabulous example of baroque architecture and fascinating statues adoring the building and surrounds. Reasonably priced entrance fee which goes towards maintaining the Villa and grounds. Parking in the general area, no specific parking area. Take note of in seasone and out of season opening times.
This is a fantastic place to check out a little history! The garden is lovely and the house is wonderful! Be sure to plan your visit to fit within the times they’re open!!

It is a beautiful circular enclave. The wild garden makes an intringuing cornice to the villa which is beautiful inside and out.
Only a small section of the interior is open to the public but it is worth the trip. The ceiling of the squarish marble room is made with a mirror parchwork that is now pewter gray but, in its day, must have been sparkling at any hint of light.
The sculptures perched on the garden walls survey the garden and the few tourists still are intriguing and beautiful in their own odd way.
There was a group of schoolkids at Villa Palagonia. Interesting old place ... you can imagine how magnificent it used to be.

Outstanding, thoroughly worth a visit! The service we received was as excellent as our meal. We tried grilled entricote in a Nero D'Avola reduction (stunning) and a perfect pizza Romana - two ends of the spectrum but importantly, both were of equally high quality. We look forward to going again!

Food was super creative, unconventional without being absurd. We ordered individual dishes rather than the tasting menu. The risotto and anchovy ravioli were two standout dishes, but everything was delicious. They supplement the main courses with small interludes of tasty bites. Service was immaculate, attentive and professional without being intrusive. Prices are fair considering the quality and originality. The place is tucked into an unexpected neighborhood and Google Maps may send you the long way around to get there, but we were happy we went.

The food was a very interesting interpretation of the traditional dishes BUT the LoCATION is EMBARRASSING!!!One of the reasons why I booked this restaurant was the description of the location mentioned also on Michelin guide as a Palazzo from the 18th century, but the restaurant is in an anonymous depressing room absolutely detached from the Palazzo that you don’t even get the chance to see. Really a shame! Furthermore, the dining room was extremely noisy for a Michelin-starred restaurant. Sound-absorbing panels should be a given.
This restaurant is something very special. The combination of traditional Sicilian dishes with a modern touch creates an amazing flavour palette. Definitely worth the visit if you visit Sicily. The entire staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Oh Stanley Tucci, you beautiful man, you. We never would have thought to venture out to Bagheria (an hour from our hotel in Cefalu) had it not been for Tucci featuring I Pupi on his "Searching For Italy" program.
Leading up to our reservation (make sure to get one) at I Pupi, we began to wonder if it was really worth the Michelin star pricing. Were we going to regret spending the money?
Well, the answer was a resounding "NO." Every bite at I Pupi was a delight. We were there for three hours and would have happily stayed for another hour.
The service was the best I have ever experienced. The servers were so attentive and knowledgable about every single aspect of the dishes: where ingredients came from, the Sicilian connection to food, etc. We honestly felt like we learned a lot!
I can't even tell you exactly what we ate, but it was all so, so yummy!
If you're thinking about splurging on a meal while in Sicily, let it be this... and make sure to get one of the tasting menus!

One of the most unique experiences I have ever had in my 20 visits to Italy. I don’t know that I learned much about anchovies, but I learned so much about Sicilian life and culture, from life on the sea for generations to the danger of modern-day mafia. It is certainly worth driving an hour or more out of your way for this experience. I took a group of 12 friends (from Chicago and San Francisco) here during our trip around Sicily. We spent about two hours there, and it was fascinating to learn about life in Aspra and Porticello. By the end of the tour, several of us were in tears. Michelangelo, the head of the museum, puts on a show that will make your head spin.
Pardon me for being cryptic about the experience, but it is surprising in a way that will make the most hardened cynic smile, laugh and maybe even shed a tear.

Michaelangelo had us reenact scenes from the old days and it felt like we were part of a living history. At the end, he surprised us by putting together a black and white movie starring us! It was such a creative and unforgettable way to experience history and he was the absolute best host we could have asked for.
If you’re looking for more than just a typical museum visit, this place is a must. It’s immersive, personal, and truly memorable.

We hired sunbeds for a day (€18 per bed including umbrella) and it was the best decision. The place is new, clean and has a calm esthetic. It has clean toilets, and showers outside. We took the train from Palermo to Bagheria and it was a 19 minute walk from the station but definitely worth it. We called a day before to make the reservation for sunbeds. At night we wanted to stay for dinner but the restaurant was fully booked, so make sure to make an extra reservation for that if you want to.

The ragu, pizza, and lobster pasta were particular standouts. The cocktails were perfect and the service was exceptional and cheery (especially considering they had two waiters out sick). The chef thought he had over-salted a pasta and refused to serve it to us, but made another within 3 minutes and it was unbelievably good. 12/10!

Would gladly give this a zero stars if possible. Food was average compared to other local meals, but the service was beyond terrible. Absolutely our favorite restaurant here in this area. Getting to know the owners Tamara & Ezio and learning about their passion for food their pride of providing & educating about Sicilian food and wines — it was such an amazing experience. A six course meal is a must have experience, we enjoyed our dining experience immensely…through the interactions and conversations.
The view is nice, food was average but not worth the price. Cocktails were terrible (had a daiquiri which was served in a tumbler on ice and thus way too watery and a dive bar quality boulevardier).
The service was outrageous. The waitress seemed to really hate her job. The other one was kind of nice sometimes but absolutely shredded the fish trying to fillet it. Would not recommend.
I was fortunate enough to accidentally stop at Canopia while driving along the coastline in Sicily in search of a venue for my daughter's 18th birthday celebration. It was a Friday afternoon and the restaurant was not actually open, but we knocked on the door and were able to chat with the staff and make a booking for lunch the next day.
My original intention was to limit our menus to pizzas (I had a group of 12 and wanted to be $$ conscious!), but as it turns out they only have the pizza oven operating at dinnertime. No loss for us; we instead requested two pasta dishes from which our guests could choose:
- Spaghetto quadrato vongole e ricci
- Calamarata al ragu’ di maialino
We started with a bit of bruschetta for the table (Sicilian tomatoes could probably end armed conflicts on a global scale!) and then the selection of pastas; my only regret was not requesting a portion of each because both were absolutely wonderful.
Overall the experience at Canopia was incredibly memorable. The views are unparalleled, the service was both professional and intimate and the food was elegant and delicious without breaking our budget. I can't thank the staff enough for the perfect afternoon and the very special experience for my daughter, topped off by a gratis dessert (Mousse al cioccolato fondente) and a slightly off-key rendition of Happy Birthday :).

Palazzo Butera oozes of good taste - in the way it’s been restored, furnished, and taken care of.
All the exhibited works are from The Francesca and Massimo Valsecchi collection and they are some of the best I have seen on my travels.
The building itself is awe-inspiring - the terrace, the lush greenery throughout, most notably the jacaranda tree, the big blossomed Solandra, palm trees and many more; and, of course, the views from the top terrace, The Torrino Panorama.
I could have easily spent a full day at the Palazzo, but was unfortunately short on time.
I do hope to be able to come back and visit the place again.

Absolutely a must visit place. I 100% recommend this place. It was packed with art from earlier centuries to contemporary pieces. Many beautiful and unique pieces of furniture. The terrace is like cut out from the Bridgerton world and the rooftop view is otherworldly. I recommend you to plan your visit thoroughly so you'll have enough time to see everything properly (at least 2 hours because we had one hour and it was simply not enough in my opinion to let everything sink in).

Guttusos includes paintings, prints, sculptures are very strong, and often personal. Also shows Guttuso's personal art works collection, and some bits of Sicilian must, like Giambecchina's. Take a good couple of hours to enjoy. Better during the day so can take daylight pics. Shocking the close cement factory just visible from many angles of the venue - very nice all together.

We drove from our hotel attracted by the bistro steakhouse idea but had difficulty finding it at first, as it's in a series of basements. We were a bit confused and ended up in the the"sports bar".
Its bright and lively with a pleasant and helpful young man serving. His English was far better than our Italian.
The menu is extensive if you're in the right setting, we'd turned up in the sports bar which is ideal for kids and pre teen parties and hadn't understood these premises are linked by a common kitchen.
We ended up with freshly cooked American style burgers and fries which would only have been any better with a little salt, otherwise perfect. We could have had pizza but after four days of pizzas we needed a change!!

Bistrot 144 is a small restaurant located in a quaint town near Palermo, Sicily. Despite its size and location, it offers top-notch service with an older waiter who is incredibly skilled and a younger one who speaks excellent English. The prices are reasonable, if not low, considering the generous portions. The seating is comfortable and the tables are well-maintained.
Suprisingly, small restaurant in small town near Palermo had the best and elegant service in most of Sicilan places we visited. One older waiter, maybe in his sixties, seventies, very skilled and just marvelous and one younger, with dark hair with good english and exceptional skills. Prices were adequate or even low for portions we were provided with. They accomodatied us with good seats, adjusted the table. Pizza were served fresh out of oven, meat was soft and pink, lobster big and appetizing. Great place, recommend!
